I can't thank her enough for all the help that she gave me. She was such a caring, understanding, and thoughtful person.
I am thankful for her. She has supported me beyond academics and was always there for all of us. Thank her for the guidance, friendship, and even for her discipline.
I have her class this semester. So far her class is amazing. I really appreciate the way she is teaching us. Most of the time we are discussing the book chapters. The good about her teaching style is to let us research and share our idea with others. Watching documentaries and youtube videos are the best part. New knowledge and the new technique.
Hedieh is a nice lady, but her class has been a huge waste of my time. She is just not capable of teaching an advanced production course. Unfortunately, I needed this class to graduate and she was the only professor teaching it. I have not been happy with it.
Prof Taraghi really cares about her students. This semester was an odd one in that Prof. found out at the last moment that she was to teach the class. She sure came through by not only sharing her expertise but arranging many special guest lecturers from media and special tours to further educate us on how it is 'in the real world.' Great class!
She is working hard to help students. The department put her in the hard situation. They offered the class one day before the school was started but she was working hard to give us the good feedbacks, inviting professional speekers, and giving us the tour of 9News TV station. I really appreciate of her attention and knowledge.
She is caring about her students. She is available outside the classroom. If you are listening to her lectures and do the assignments, you will get A grade so easily. In one word, she was amazing.
Electronic media and society as a class have been filled with so many takeaways. I don't think I would have learned all I did if it was not for my professor, Hedieh Taraghi. Every single class, I left with a new piece of knowledge that will forever be vital to me as a contributor to society. I'm glad that I registered for this class my last semeste
Hedieh is a good professor, in the sense that she is very hardworking and supportive for her students. However, I definitely didn't enjoy her speech class, since I would be listening to her lectures while counting how many times she says, "um," in a given time span. Had this been a higher level class, I might have withdrawn.
Heideh was a great teacher and the skills I learned from this semester in her class will carry themselves with me into the later years of my life, where I can apply them to everyday scenarios in an office space presenting my next idea. I so appreciate her hard work.
Real great teacher, easy learn and really helped me become a better speaker in public.
Professor Taraghi led a fantastic class. She was able to work with me one on one to help me learn everything I needed to know to pass the final exam, and has helped me develop my public speaking skills immensely.
Her lectures were interesting. She made student feel important. I get the sense that she cares about what she is teaching and her students.
Professor Hedieh keeps the class simple, has clear requirements but is able to be compassionate to her students through extra- credit and even going above and beyond by providing makeup opportunities. Professor keeps the teaching process interesting by varying media and lectures and is a competent and caring instructor.
I have no words and cant thank her enough. I really enjoyed the class and I actually think Im a more complete person because of her class.
I really have enjoyed her class especially the final group presentation.
Best and amazing teacher, who not only cares about your grades, but also really cares for you to learn things which are important for you in the future.
This class was fun and interactive. The professor did a great job of varying what we did in class every day it helped me stay engaged. She is great about hearing student feedback and making the class more and more accommodating for our learning styles and preferences. I learned a lot about communication and had awesome conversations in the class.
This class is extremely helpful and thorough. Although communication comes naturally to me, this class helped refine my skills as well as add definitions to each form and style of communication.
This class was easy to keep up with and challenged me forcing me out of my comfort zone. The content was easy to understand and was pretty intriguing most of the time, professor Hedieh Taraghi always did a great job lecturing and explaining the content and always gave great feedback to everyone. This class was very interactive and inclusive.
While she was a nice professor majority of the time a lot of assignments were unclear. Her tests didnt go over anything that we discussed about. If we had questions about a upcoming speech she would become irritable. Judging by past reviews she must be better in person but for online it was awful.
I thought this class was very helpful in helping me understand basic communication concepts. I could say that I'm leaving this course with a lot of helpful knowledge to communicate in the real world. Having the materials i needed on Canvas worked out great for me. Having a professor that knows how to explain all the concepts perfect was very helpfu
I really enjoyed having her as my professor this semester. The energy that she brought each day was unparalleled, and I thought she conducted the online class with grace and composure. It was a great class and I would recommend one of your classes to anyone wanting to start out their communication studies.
I thought the workload was pretty light. You had a weekly discussion post for homework and five speeches throughout the semester. Very very lecture heavy and repetitive. She does put a lot of energy into her work and cares a lot, but she can be contradicting about speech requirements. Overall, it didn't work for my style of learning.
Hedieh is a lecture heavy instructor and a lot of them can be repetitive. The speeches assigned seem hard and intimidating but for the most part she's a easy grader on them as long as you fill time requirements and your content makes sense in the speech. Other than preparation for speeches, not a heavy HW load. Nonetheless she's funny and caring.
Professor Hedieh was a great speech professor. She very clearly communicated deadlines and expectations for the semester. She is a fairly easy grader. There are long lectures but not too bad. Make sure you are following her instructions perfectly for speeches: time limit, appropriate dress, gestures, content, etc. Overall, I enjoyed the class.
She's ok but not much more. She yells her lectures just very almost too loud. She cancels class a lot which is really annoying cause she tells you "how important it is that we be there" and then just cancels it. Honestly public speaking is not that deep but she makes it suuuper "deep". I would not take any of her classes again. Wasn't a good class.
Professor Hedieh was simply an OK professor. Her lectures were very mundane and never really gave new information. She canceled class a lot and never really gave a heads up before hand, so a lot of times many students were already in their seats and got emails 5 minutes into class saying she wouldn't be here. Wasn't the greatest, but not terrible.
During my time in this class, I have learned how to be a better public speaker and have learned helpful tips. For the most part, I enjoyed the structure of this class. I like taking notes and hearing to lectures. The in-class activities that we did were very interactive, the professor was a great speaker and kept my attention.
She's caring about her students and her content is organized and clear. The professor is clear and concise. She's also very kind and encouraging. Videos of presentations helped me truly understand my weaknesses. Highly recommend her.
So to start, she's definitely good at what she does and is accomplished. Clearly. However she's very intense in her lectures and can be rather strict in grading speeches. Don't go past your minutes! however you could pass without reading the textbook. do the discussions and the extra credit on time and you should be okay even if you dump a speech.
I just wanted to send a comment today to let you know how much she helped me to improve my confidence and my public speaking. I had a presentation for Psychology today and I did extremely well and had no shaky voice. There is no way I could have improved this much with another teacher. She is the best at what she does.
I want to take this opportunity to express my deep gratitude to our instructor for her incredible dedication and hard work, despite facing health challenges. Her willingness to share her extensive experience and valuable advice has greatly enriched this course.
Mrs. Hedieh, is the one who inspired me to continue with this course. I had a great time in class with her, and she was a huge help when I had questions. I gained a great deal of knowledge from this course that will help me in the future because public speaking is a skill that is necessary in all areas.
I understand that she is not the worst professor in the world but I have been very upset and let down by this class because she constantly canceled class which is fine but would be harsh about our attendance. I also think she makes it known what her opinions are on, especially LGBTQ+ identities and situations and how she doesn't accept them.
Mrs.Heidieh has inspired me significantly by being so confident, funny, and kind. Her way of teaching was always engaging through her tone of voice, volume of voice, and volume variety. It was easy to pay attention and easy to listen to her. I am so happy that I got to take this class with such an incredible professor and people.
I will remember this class and be grateful for the foundation it has given me. I cannot wait to see my progress continue and practice continuously in my everyday life. Thanks to Ms.Hedieh for the fantastic class and for giving us her wisdom.
If given the opportunity, I would retake this class with Professor Hedieh. Thank you, Hedieh, for all the knowledge she has given and the patience and sharing/teaching a piece of her passion to us all! At the start of the semester, she said, 'Do it from the heart, ' She is a clear example of that.
I definitely do not regret taking this course especially with the professor I was honored to have. If it weren't for her, I probably would've struggled way more with my presentations and my grade. So I am very thankful for her , I'd recommend others to take this course with this amazing woman.
I would like to take this opportunity to say how thankful I was to have Ms. Hedieh Taraghi as my professor for this course. Even going through the tough days and not being able to make it to some classes, she was able to be understanding and give us a great semester overall, which still helped us improve in public speaking.
Professor Hedieh made this course extremely joyful with her wonderful ways of teaching. Always cracking jokes with us students, making sure we're paying attention when it's needed, and just being there for our help.
It was a really good semester, and I have grown so much more after taking this class!
The biggest thing that helped me learn was our excellent teacher, Hedieh. The energy she brought into the classroom was always great, and she considered what we thought. Not once would she shame or judge us; instead, she would guide us in the right direction. I couldn't have asked for a better class or a better teacher. Thank you for everything.
Professor Taraghi was an amazing professor for this class. Her personality and diligence to try her best teaching our class, despite challenges that came along, show how fit she is for what she does for this class. Her patience to work with all of us throughout the semester was very appreciative to me.
This class was amazing for me, the amount of self-growth I experienced was amazing for me and my mentality for the future semesters. I would recommend this class to someone else, but it would have to be taught by the one and only: Professor Taraghi
I appreciated that Professor Taraghi taught this class as she was very understanding and supportive of us, such as accommodating some assignment due dates to fit the schedules and needs of her students. I could relate to her as an immigrant from another country in the US, which helped me feel more comfortable in her class.
Professor Taraghi was very understanding and supportive of her students; this, along with her personality and enthusiasm for the class, was a very influential factor as I was more motivated to participate in the class discussions and speak my opinions.
I would want to thank her for her advice and assistance this semester. My academic and personal growth have been greatly aided by this course, which has given me the skills and self-assurance I need to speak in public with confidence. I'm excited to use these abilities in my upcoming pursuits. I highly recommend her.
She is the absolute best.
She is a strong and self-confident woman, yet also sensitive and humble. Attending her class was a source of inspiration for me; as an immigrant herself, she made me realize that I can have the ability to effectively communicate with people.
I greatly appreciate how she adapted her explanations to my experiences and those of my classmates, who also motivated me to continue practicing and improving. Her support has been a key pillar in my adaptation and learning process.
Attendance policy is dumb. Not allowed to miss class for university sanctioned event, or personal/family emergency. Constant mumbling or yelling, mixed with talking to fast and a heavy accent was almost impossible to understand. Had terrible lectures that aren't worth listening to, or are seemingly not related to what project is being worked on.
The class is pretty easy and really helps you work on your presentational skills. There are 3 big speeches and 2 exams, but as long as you pay attention and put in some work you'll get a good grade.
As long as you pay attention and turn in stuff on time you'll be okay. She's easy to access outside of class and the majority of the things we learn are just common sense but you have to have to be there for the lectures because attendance is a grade. She's strict about weird things sometimes but overall easy and good.
I have really enjoyed my public speaking class. Professor Hedieh pushed all of us to work hard, which will benefit us all in the future.Thanks.
Hedieh taught me that there is always room for more successfulness and that you should always be encouraging yourself and others no matter the situation. I hated at first being so pushed but now I understand why. Thank you!
How grateful I am to have learned what I have. I would take that a step further and recommend everyone to take this class specifically. Her insight and knowledge around the skill was something so refreshing to experience, as it is beneficial to all of us to learn from her as the professor and also you as the person.
Hedieh, in particular, taught me how to not get caught up in perfectionism. She always reminded me it was one grade and I could improve on the next one; she taught me how to combat my thoughts of always having to measure how much effort I put in and how hard I worked by what grade I got.
This class has taught me skills that have improved not only my professional life but my personal life, and I am so happy I took this class.
Thank you so much for teaching me everything about public speaking! It was a pleasure to be in this class. I had so much fun learning in this class with Professor Hedieh.
The supportive and encouraging atmosphere of her class allowed me to overcome my fears and embrace public speaking with confidence. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have learned and grown alongside such wonderful peers, and I'm excited to carry these newfound skills and insights into my academic, professional, and personal endeavors.
In my 13 years of education, between kindergarten until now, I have never left a class feeling like I have genuinely taken everything it had to offer, with me. It was a class worth-taking, and worth putting a lot of energy and effort into. Highly suggest to take her class.
Coming to the end of this course, I am realizing that any part of the class that could be perceived as difficult, was indeed for our greater good, as students. We were lucky to have a professor who despite being strict, was ALWAYS looking out for us, and rooting for our success not only in her class, but as individuals in the outside world.
In this class, the biggest lessons I have learned are how to articulate and brainstorm ideas for a speech, and how to effectively present a speech. The professor has engraved the steps of an outline into our heads, and I will utilize such skills in other future courses.
Her journey as a student and now professor, coming from a different country, has inspired me immensely, and proved that there is no excuse for hard-work and success. When you want something bad enough, you can have it!
Please know that she is one in a million, and it is so hard to come across professors like her. Thank you.
I attribute my remarkable growth to Professor Hedieh/Taraghi's expert guidance, unwavering support and innovative instructional methods. Engaging lectures, meticulously crafted slide presentations, and stimulating group discussions fostered a comprehensive, inclusive learning environment.
This course has extensively prepared me for future academic presentations, professional networking, community engagement, and leadership roles. Thanks to her.
Everything that she has taught me has really made me become more confident with the way I present. This class has taught me skills I didn't even know I was lacking so for that I thank you for making me grow.
Was extremely rude, unprofessional, and annoying. She would yell at us if anyone wasn't paying attention. She took students' phones like it is middle school. Unfair to students she dislikes when approving speech topics. If she likes you she'll let you do whatever even if it's not in the theme but if she doesn't she will keep rejecting your topics.
I will take the lessons from this class and use them in every aspect of my life that I get the chance to. This course offered something in every single in-person class available. I walked out learning something new each time, even on the “independent work days.”
I've learned useful skills that I can use in a variety of personal and business situations. I've also learned important lessons about self-confidence, empathy, and the power of good communication.
A big part of this class was Professor Hedieh, who has been an incredible mentor throughout this semester. Her feedback was always constructive and encouraging. She created a comfortable environment for everyone to grow. She helped each student, and I felt confident in my abilities and empowered to improve at any point.
I want to say how truly grateful I am to Professor Taraghi. She's been the most understanding and supportive teacher I've ever had. She was flexible and made accommodations when I needed; it made a difference, especially during the tougher weeks. Her kindness, encouragement, and passion for teaching made this class enjoyable and memorable.
This class didn't just help me with speeches, it helped me speak up, period. So thank you, Professor Hedieh, for not only teaching the material in a way that made sense, but for creating an environment where it was okay to mess up, learn, and grow. I genuinely feel more capable and confident because of this class
Great lady! apply yourself and you will do well. she truly cares, show up and show you want to be there. I took her presentational speaking class in fall.
I just wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank her for such a great semester. Her support, encouragement, and the way she presented the material made a real difference in my learning experience. I appreciated her patience and dedication; It's clear how much she cares about her students' success.
Through her knowledge, I gathered some interesting insights, and this class really changed my outlook on the world. I also enjoyed taking a deeper analytical dive into local events around me with the CEA papers.
This class didn't just teach me how to speak publicly; it helped me communicate more confidently, think more clearly, and step out of my comfort zone. Thank you so much, Professor Taraghi.
Professor Taraghi taught me that public speaking isn't about being perfect—it's about being clear, honest, and connecting with people. She was kind and caring to all of her students.
Over time, I gained confidence, and her class ended up being pretty enjoyable. Thank you, professor, for not only teaching us but also being passionate about our improvement.
I had a great learning experience this semester, and I enjoyed taking a course outside my comfort zone. Her class structure was great, and I am appreciative of all I got to learn through the semester.
She gave us an insightful summer semester!
Has a hard time with accessibility towards students with disabilities. Often doesn't understand them or the accommodations needed. She also doesn't grade things until way later so you must always keep a eye on your grade or start your project way beforehand.
I really enjoy the energy she brings, and I appreciate her dedication to this class.
This class was memorable for me; it taught me things I feel I will use in the future, but at times, I felt there was knowledge that wasn't as important unless given in a very specific context. It was a pleasure to be in this class, and I recommend others to attend.
This class helped me grow not only as a speaker but also as a communicator in general. I feel more confident expressing myself, and I know these skills will be useful in school, work, and everyday life moving forward. She was great.
She helped me become a more understanding, respectful, and reflective person, and I believe this lesson will last far beyond this semester.
It was a thought-provoking course, and she was wonderful.
Her class helped me grow not only as a speaker but as a communicator in general. I feel more confident expressing myself, and I know the skills I learned will help me in the rest of my education, future jobs, relationships, and everyday conversations. Thank you, Professor Taraghi.
Hedieh taught me about cultures and about myself, and I'll remember these lessons long after the semester ends. I started the semester looking for practical tools, but I finished with more self-awareness, a better sense of cultural identity, and new confidence in my ability to learn.
