Dr. Devlin is a very good teacher, and if you study and ask for help you will be OK. Bio isn't an easy course at all, so you have to put forth your best effort.
Super professor. Thorough; puts power point notes on line; very helpful. Makes class interesting and fun.
Heidi's awesome, she may have been a little late here and there, but her teaching is realy good, and she definately knows what shes talking about
best prof ever. her letter of rec got me into 3 tough universities. LOVE DR DEV!
Heidi is awesome, and such a nice person. A&P isn't an easy class at all, but she makes it fun and interesting. You have to work hard. There are 10 tests throughout the semester, and powerpoint projections reinforce the material. I highly recommend you take her =)
Heidi is a very good teacher. She makes the material interesting. The only complaint I have is about her tests. You are instructed to study things that you are not tested on, while you are tested on things that you were told not to worry about. Besides that, Heidi is probably the best professor that I have had so far.
Great teacher. Knows her material. Sometimes a little late for class, but usually on time. Consideing this is a 1 credit class the tests were challenging. Need to study the material somewhat to get a good grade. Very helpful professor
Dr. D makes A&P I not only interesting, but fun as well. Wish she would teach A&P II during the evenings next semester -- I would definitely be there.
Heidi is an awsome teacher to have for A&P. She makes class fun and will give you extra help if you need it. She gives you her power point and study guides for the test. If you want to pass A&P-study, study, study, and have Dr. Devlin as your prof.
Heidi is an awsome teacher to have for A&P. She makes class fun and will give you extra help if you need it. She gives you her power point and study guides for the test. If you want to pass A&P-study, study, study, and have Dr. Devlin as your prof.
Heidi is an awsome teacher to have for A&P. She makes class fun and will give you extra help if you need it. She gives you her power point and study guides for the test. her test aren't easy but if you study the guide she gives you, you'll do great!!
Dr. D is a mix of good&bad. She's almost always late (15 mins) & her lectures consist of her reading off of her slides. When asked questions, she often the books. (BAD: If she doesn't know it, how should students be expected to?) She is funny & does make herself fairly available but not for working students (If you work a 9-5 job it doesn't work.)
Dr. Devlin is a knowledgeable professor. She is always late for class! As a student I feel this shows a little lack of demonstrating her commitment to the course. Her exams are fair and the questions on them are from the material you cover. She does not curve exams, no extra credit.
Dr.D is awsome she has premade packets that you may purchase for a minimal fee. the packets contain notes, study aides and need to know lists. If you can't pass her class you didn't try.
I had the privilege of having Dr. D for 3 classes Human Bio, API&II she is the best I work long hours 7am-7pm 5 days a week her study guides and need to know lists were the bomb. Everything you need to know is in the powerpoint notes and book. Class is not mandatory;however those whom left early or skipped a couple didn't do as well!
Had her for A&P an amazing teacher you have to be willing to put in the effort though. This isn't a cake course if you don't study each night outside of class this class isn't for you. She is very knowledgeable and has an incredible background in managing departments for Hershey med
Extremely intelligent, an excellent resource. If you must have structure, she's not big on it.
Nice lady. Horrible instructor. Can't answer questions. Tests are ridiculously hard. Lectures are long and boring. Probably one of the worst instructors i have ever had.
always late for class and lets you out early. extremely hard tests - this prof reads right from powerpoint -
Devlin is wonderful. The reason she uses the slides is because it's like a guide. It doesn't let her forget anything! With how many classes this woman teaches, I find it amazing that she is available at all, but she is! She uses the slides also because if you didn't purchase the notes, you can easily take them from the powerpoint.
Dr. Devlin is the best! The material is tough, but she provided lots of help. I haven't had any other teachers that took the time to have study sessions before tests to answer any questions you might have. I had some trouble in A & P I and she took the time to meet with me and explain things further. Thanks Dr. D. for all your encouragement & help
Dr D is an incredible teacher. Her class is HARD but that is because she knows that most of her students are aspiring nurses or other allied health majors- would you want a C student poking your arm with a needle?! She has study sessions, offers extra credit, and gives excellent study guides. If you do the work- a good grade is absolutely possible
Dr.D Is a great teacher! I've had her for A&P1 and A&P2. She is the best teacher Ive had! She will make time for you if you dont understand the material. She is more than willing to help. This class is hard But Dr.D breaks the material down so its easy to understand.I would recommend her to anyone. Thank you Dr.D for all your help and laughter:) NW
Dr. Devlin is an awesome prof! The class is hard, but that is expected. She makes times for a review session before tests and is so helpful.
DR. Devlin is a a mix of good and bad. She ia alws late to class she hardly ever teaches lab which then makes the lab book purchase useless and her test are crazy hard. On a brighter note... she is very knowledgible and the note packets for students which include study guides and what she calls "need to know" for the test's are pretty helpful.
Great teacher, HARD CLASS! You must earn your grade.
Dr D. is a brilliant professor. I had her for A&P 1 and 2. She is extremely knowledgable in the material. She teaches off of ppt's and provides the materials for labs. She wants you to succeed and strives to help everyone. Exams are not difficult if you put in the effort required. Show up to class and participate in lectures and you'll pass.
Dr. D is brilliant! The class is not easy, but she goes the extra mile to make it manageable with study guides and need-to-know papers before tests. She goes over material the hour before most tests! I appreciate that she is personal, fun, and that she will look up answers for your abstract medical questions if she is not sure about something.
Doctor D is awesome!! a lot of work but she will help you with anything! she goes out of her way to make sure you pass the class. Make sure you know how to spell or she will let you know you suck lol thanks Doctor D :)
Great great professor. Her class is hard, but that's to be expected with the content of the class. Very clear on what needs learned and gives a lot of aids to help in studying.
I Love Dr. D. She was very helpful and will go out of her way to help you. The class is hard, but that is expected. I would not personally take this class with anyone else.
Be prepared to put in some extra time outside of class. I primarily used the Need to Know sheets (available thru D2L, don't buy the notes), the textbook (buy it on AbeBooks.com), and the notes I took in class. Dr. D is the only prof I know that has pre-exam study sessions, and she is willing to provide whatever assistance you need to succeed.
Dr D is one of the better professors I've had. She's tough, wants you to learn & not just wing it. Your grade reflects on how much you put in the class. Study guides are provided & reviews prior to the test that are helpful. Her test is not your average multiple choice, a lot of critical thinking. She goes out of her way to help out her students.
Dr. Devlin is an awesome teacher. Make sure to buy her slides, and READ THE BOOK! It helps a ton. Put in at least some studying ever day, it will help a lot. She is very helpful, and funny. A&P is a very hard class, but if you have good study skills and show up to every class, you will be just fine. Finished both A&P 1&2 with a B.
Dr. Devlin is a great teacher, very nice, and has study sessions before class. I found the course difficult but with the professor's study sessions and spending a lot of my time studying I passed the class with an A. I would highly recommend Dr. D to anyone!
For me, the critical thinking questions did me in & I can't blame it on the professor. My verdict is Dr. D. is a great professor!
Dr. Devlin wants people to succeed, but she makes you work for it. She is sometimes unorganized. You barely do any lab in this class, don't waste your money on the book. You will have a hard test or written lab practical every week. We started with 20 people and ended with 6. If you're not really serious about it, don't waste your money.
Dr. D. is , by far, the best professor I have ever had. A&P 2 is an extremely tough course--no matter who you take it with, but Dr. D. is one of those unusual professors that truly cares if her students succeed. This is a professor who gives you study guides and exam reviews, and will explain the same topic over and over until you get it.
I truly enjoyed this class and look forward to AP 2 with Dr D in the fall. She is a great professor and cares that you succeed. She knows what she is doing. The only thing I would have liked to see were more labs.
I have had Dr. D for both A&P I and II. She is a wonderful professor and I would recommend her to anyone. She makes things easy to learn, she is clear on what she expects, she gives extra credit to on exams and lab practicals, she is there anytime you have a question. It probably helps that she loves what she does and she is good at it!
You really need to take this class seriously to pass. Dr. Devlin is a great professor who wants you to succeed and will be there to help, but you need to make the effort. Attendance is crucial and it's really important to have good study habits.
Dr. Devlin is an awesome professor. She is willing to take the time to help you understand the information. Her lab practicals are straight memorization. There are 10 exams with extra credit available on each. API and APII are hard classes, but if you invest the time she will help you succeed. I highly recommend taking her classes.
She may be helpful to some students, but she just read slides that she posted online. I had to read them at home anyway since she rushed through the material and very rarely deviated from reading directly off the slides. Test were usually a week apart, and a lot of the material was on things she specifically told us we would not be tested on.
Dr. Devlin is the hardest professor I have ever had. Lectures consist of her reading directly from the PowerPoint slides. Lecture exams are hard, lab practical exams are harder. Be prepared to do a lot of independent learning if you take her.
Dr. Devlin is an awesome professor!! The tests are hard but if you study you will pass. It is AP1 and AP2, it's already a tough class. Dr. Devlin breaks down the class so that if you attend class and listen to the powerpoints you will know what to study. I would definitely take her again, no doubts about that! Awesome two semesters of AP.
A&p gets a bad rap for being a really hard and impossible class, but if you show up and study the way Devlin outlines it to you, it's very possible. There is a lot of material but if you keep up on studying and take notes the class itself is not impossible.
I had Dr. D for 3 semesters. Definitely a great professor who is passionate about wanting her students to LEARN and to not just get them by. By reading the material and her providing notes on everything she teaches in class, you will be just fine. You have to want it, and that should be expected. Very helpful and takes time out of her schedule.
I had Heidi Devlin for a A&P 1&2. She is amazing! She is clear in presentation of all her materials/powerpoints. Heidi will go above and beyond to help anyone. There are so many tests to bring your score to an A! You have to study! It is really important to study and keep the material fresh in your mind! Take Heidi's class. You will learn a lot!
Dr D is simply the best, A&P 1&2 are the hardest classes you can take at HACC. Be prepared to work your butt off in the class, study like you've never studied before and just maybe you'll get a good grade. She passionately cares about people doing well. Best professor I've had since I've been in college, and I highly recommend taking her courses.
I am always super thankful when I have a strong, intelligent female professor. Dr D. definitely embodies that. She is funny and knows her stuff like nobody's business. She offers many, many resources so that you can use them to study and pass. I appreciate all the knowledge and kindness she gave me.
Dr. Devlin is a great professor. She is passionate about her subject and wants to share her knowledge with her students. She is always available to offer extra help and supplies students with study guides, extra lecture videos, and power points of each chapter. If you actually want to learn biology and be prepared to move on, she is the best!
Dr. D was such a great professor!! She loves teaching and it shows because she's an excellent professor!! She truly cares about her students! I would recommend a&p1 And a&p2 with her!! Such a dedicated professor!
This class requires you to actually study. It's not a cake walk but it shouldn't be most people going into this class are nursing students and it will definetly help you to take the teas. Heidi is a good teacher and if you pay attention and ask questions you will do great.
Prof. D truly has her students in mind. She wants you to learn, BUT you have to put in the effort. You can't just hope for an "A", it's earned. She won't dumb it down, and always is insightful to help in remembering important info. All in all she takes AP and makes it relate-able and real, anyone who says otherwise just didn't give their all.
Dr D's A&P classes are well planned, taught and graded fairly. She will put the extra effort into your experience as long as you do the same. She is definitely a subject matter expert and will prepare you for future classes/requirements. If you study and learn Dr D's "need to know", you will be fine on the lecture exams and lab practicals.
Great professor! I had her for 121 and 122. The classes are very tough, but she gives you notes, lectures, and outlines online, which can be very helpful. She also has study sessions before tests, which are great as well. One of my favorite professors!
This class is meant to be hard, but she is great about breaking material down enough to to be able to understand. She offers study sessions an hour before the tests to review over anything that you need help with(even though I didn't attend). She is all around a great professor and person in general and I would take her again if needed.
Dr. D is amazing. Of course the material is hard, but it's hard stuff we are learning! Most are taking this for the health care field, you shouldn't be able to breeze through it. She makes it helpful with online lectures you can listen to, printing out the notes (or Ipad) and study sessions before tests. Gotta put effort into it and you will be ok!
Overall, I had an amazing experience taking A&P 2. Teacher is humorous and lots of examples are given in order to understand tough concepts. Everything you need to know for Anatomy tests are given and the Exams are really easy as long as you read the chapters, do the study guides and show up to class and take notes. It's college, not high school.
Tough class, you definitely have to put time into it if you want to pass. Dr D is very helpful and wants you to succeed. She gives "need to knows", study guides and extra credit so as long as you study you'll do fine. She is very funny and nice and is there to help you.
I have taken both API and APII with Dr D, I would readily choose to take any other classes that she teaches. The material is difficult but she gives you wonderful tools to succeed, all of her lectures are available online and Dr D makes time to answer your questions if you ask her.
It seems the primary complaint about Dr. Devlin's classes is their difficulty; while they are no walk in the park, Dr. D couldn't be cooler, kinder, or more willing to help her students. You won't be handed an A without putting in the work, but she will do her best to help you understand and succeed, all while keeping the atmosphere light and fun
Dr. D is very good at teaching and explaining materials. These classes are difficult, however, she is available at the Learning Center and provides review sessions for an hour before every test! Dr. D takes her responsibility to prepare you for your future classes seriously. Her expectations are high but you will leave her class much more prepared.
I liked Dr. Devlin. If you had a question she would address it. She is a tough teacher but I appreciated her efforts. It is a tough class no matter what professor you take. You will know your stuff if you put in your effort. It was appreciated.
Dr. D does everything she can to make sure her students pass her classes.
Dr. D is a fantastic teacher that really cares for her students to do well. It was my first blended class and I really enjoyed it. Provides power points, practice exams, and outside class help for exam material. Lab exams spelling counts but it is basically memorization, so not bad. hint: take practice exams, and meet her 1 hour b4 exam for review.
Dr D's class is tough & rewarding. I had Bio 111, AP 1 & 2. The subject is hard & she is breaks it down into understandable chunks. She is always there to assist her students & provide lecture notes. Unfortunately she is not teaching other Science classes for I would surely take her classes again. If you want to learn, I highly recommend her!
Was very straight forward on the topics that would be on the test. She added humor to the lectures so it was easier to remember. She was available before every class and before every test for students who wanted the extra help and she provided study guides and lectures online . She's a professor I would take again.
There is a lot of material that is covered over the semester. Be prepared to put the effort forward and you will succeed. Dr. D is super nice and is always willing to help. I highly recommend this class.
Dr. Devlin is a professor who wants you to succeed. She is willing to explain concepts again if you are confused. She dedicates an hour before each test to answer questions or review with students. She has lots of resources online that are extremely helpful. You will have to work hard to do well! It is a challenging course.
This class is tough but Dr Devlin is very eager for individual success. These classes should be hard because most people are taking the class for future health care professions. Dr Devlin is also very informative with lecture.
A&P is tough but Doctor Devlin gives her students what they need to pass this class. I had her for both A&P 1 and 2 and I passed those classes with an A even if English is my third language. Dr Devlin is very helpful and amazing.
She's a very difficult professor to have, but as long as you pay attention in class and study you will do fine. Follow her need to know lists and do the study guides. Print out the pictures for the lab practicals and practice labeling. Very knowledgeable and knows her stuff.
Challenging class, but you learn so much. Clear expectations, all laid out very well, bit you must study regularly. Dr. Devlin is a great teacher, one of the best I've had. She is accessible, caring and is humorous in her presentations. I took ap1 and ap2 with her, and it was a good experience.
I had her for summer AP1. She is very considerate. If many people get a question wrong on a test, she will discount that question. She also offers three bonus questions on each exam. Her grading is reasonable and nothing is weighted heavily on exams. However, on practicals, you MUST know the spelling of terms. Study EVERY DAY and you'll do fine.
I think Dr. Devlin is a very good professor in Biology and Anatomy. She relies on you to be responsible and take her lectures seriously. There is lots of very useful information in her lectures, so pay close attention to those! She also cares about her students and goes to great lengths to help you understand. You just have to ask for help.
This is a hard course, and forced me to rethink the way I studied. The Prof. made herself available outside of lecture hours, and her instruction was always helpful, and her criticism constructive. I enjoyed AP1 so much that I made sure I had her again for AP2. AP is not easy, but having the right Prof. is very helpful, and she definitely was.
Dr. D is a very good professor. Tests are tough and very in depth but she gives you lots of great study material. You must be willing to work hard to pass her class, however, the information learned will help greatly in future RN classes.
A&P 1 and 2 are tough classes, there is no way around that. Dr. Devlin was a great professor. She provided tons of study material and made herself available for study sessions and reviews prior to exams. I took her for both A&Ps and if I had to do it again, I would take her classes again.
Very interesting teacher! Very bright woman! I chose Dr. Devlin for both A&P 1 and 2. These classes were not easy but the level of knowledge I walked away with was amazing. She made us work for our grades but she was also fair. You get out of it what you put into it and you will be giving her your all... that's the best way to learn though.
I would not recommend taking this professor. I'm not even sure how she got 4.3% review on here. Her tests she has 4-5 chapters at once. I feel this extremely too much to remember for just ONE test. Her word banks have more words than needed on them for the lab practical. She also marks you points for having the spelling wrong. Take someone else!
I am a good student and I hated being in Prof. Devlin's class. Please avoid her! Lectures were hurried and disorganized. Online resources were outdated and hard to follow. She used the previous version of textbook to make tests, so good luck having a good resource to study from! Almost half of our class failed to complete the course. Beware!
Dr. Devlin was one of the worst professors I have ever encountered. We had an exam almost every week between lab and lecture. A&P is suppose to be difficult but now to the point where you need to study every second you are not in class. Lectures are awful and unorganized. Most of the class failed every exam. Avoid if at all possible.
She is VERY unorganized, didn't post tests online until last minute, the stuff she had online was mostly outdated, and during lab practicals she stopped us multiple times to have us correct her mistakes. She gave bonus points on one practical, but we were interrupted multiple times to correct pictures. She is also bad with responding to emails.
Dr. D is an amazing professor. She takes the time before every class to sit and explain and go over any questions you have. I took her for both a&p1 & a&p2. Her test are hard, but if you study you will pass.
Dr. Devlin was awesome. She gives you study guides for every exam and also give plenty of opportunities to earn extra credit on each exam as well as supplemental extra credit. There are a lot of exams, but you get to drop your lowest so you and they aren't as heavily weighted so you if you don't do well on 1 or 2, there is opportunity to do better.
Dr. Devlin is a wonderful professor. These classes are hard. There is a lot of material to go over and learn. She is very fair with her grades. She also makes herself available for help outside the classroom. You must be willing to work. With anything in life, it wont just be handed to you. I am going to miss her.
Dr. D gives you many tools to help you learn the material, practice quizzes, videos, cheat sheets, study guides. she puts a lot of work into it. She is very intelligent and caring. She is also human. If you want a robot who has you read from a textbook and tests you, she isnt for you. Take her if you want to learn
Dr. Devlin is a very knowledgable and credible instructor. For her tests, however, you must be prepared to study for hours each day to pass. The lecture exams go very into depth and the study guides aren't so helpful.
Dr. Devlin is a very knowledgeable and passionate teacher. The class is hard, but Dr. Devlin offers extra credits, study guides for exams, reviews, ect. I wish I would have taken BIOL 121 with her. She was always willing to work with me and help me throughout the course.
Prof. Devlin took on my A&P 1 class halfway through spring semester (after COVID when everything went virtual). She's FANTASTIC! I learned much more from her than my original prof. She had weekly exams, but there were fewer chapters to study per exam and she hosted review sessions before each exam. She had lots of extra resources to help you learn.
I took this class over the summer as an 8 week class. It was extremely hard for me. I really had to study hard. However, I am taking my next class with this same Professor. She is kind and helpful. She is always willing to help you review if you are struggling. She offers other ways to get a few extra credit points.
Dr. Devlin now know as as Dr. Berg is an amazing teacher! You will really understand the material as she explains everything very clearly. She is always willing to help you when you need it. She does 1 hour study sessions for the class right before exams and will stay after if you need her too. Plus she records all her lecture so you can go back
She is a SAINT of teaching. I refused to have anyone but her for A&P II after I took her A&P I class. She has good sources of material via power points and YouTube videos to help you outside class lectures. You will learn how she teaches fast, and love it. Studying with her lectures got me an 89.3% on the TEAS test. I wish I could write more.
I took A&P I and II at LVC. As long as you show up to class, pay attention, and take good notes, the exams are very easy. I thought she was a great and very nice professor, but she was difficult to reach outside of class. Her weekly quizzes allowed unlimited attempts and her exams were all multiple choice.
