Class isn't mandatory, but she does random quizes/assignments that can't be made up. She is easy and laid back. I would recommend her to anyone. Also, if you go to class everyday, don't buy the book. I haven't even opened it once.
Heidi is very pleasant and does a good job with a dull subject. I did not purchase the book for this course and I still got an excellent grade. Just go to class so that you don't miss any quizzes and you will be fine. She does, however, offer extra credit opportunities if you happen to miss a quiz. Very low-stress class. I liked it well enough.
Very straightforward, public school health class. Heidi did a fine job teaching. She's not the most riveting instructor you'll ever have, but the class is easy and she's very clear. Don't waste your money on the textbook. The exams are just common sense. Most normal people should be able to handle them without much studying. I didn't at all.
Great teacher, great class.
Awesome teacher, way easy, but I still learned a ton. She knows her stuff.
She is not only a great teacher, but she really cares. She'll bring current health even articles and share them with the class. She also offers a lot of extra credit and curves the test! She is a great teacher and the class is pretty easy if you go to class or takes notes from her powerpoints.
I never got above a B on any tests and still managed to get an A. She offers lots of extra credit. Overall, it was a very east class and I did learn some things even though it was boring at times.
I really liked how she made the class atmosphere comfortable to be able to share feelings and ideas. She is a fun teacher to have, I hope I get her again for another class.
She helped me understand my own nutrition in a better way. She knows a lot about the material and you can tell she really likes the subject. She is very well prepared to teach it and gives good personal examples. She is a favorite!
I honestly loved this course. I found it so interesting and I think Mrs. Jeffs is one of the most prepared, knowledgeable, and diverse teachers I've had at UVU.
Awesome Teacher! She was very knowledgeable about the Nutrition and health subject. 3 or so tests, multiple online quizzes, easy dietary analysis, and a few easy, short papers. After we took the tests, she allowed us to make corrections to earn back 1/2 of the points we missed. Extra credit Opportunities available. I learned a lot from Heidi.
Health is not my favorite subject but she seriously had personal examples to each issue. Only 6 assignments through the whole semester. Each test had a review and it was a great atmosphere!
I didnt like this class at all. She was good at teaching the lesson and tell you about the tests, then you go to take the test and its all misleading! It was very frustrating! The homework is all busy work. Class is easy but her tests are very confusing and misleading.
Teacher taught great methods! One of the best using graphic aids (exactly what I needed!) Test questions and answers were very difficult but homework assignments and quizzes were smooth! I'd recommend her!
She is a good teacher that is very knowledgable about what she is teaching. There where good demonstrative activities that helped to further understand the lessons. Overall good experience.
Great teacher and awesome to work with, i could tell that she really cared about my grade and that i was learning the material. she teaches with clarity and lets you know exactly whats on the exam
She is able to really bring things to a personal level by sharing real life experiences in her own life. Great visual aids and presentations. Definitely going to recommend this class to other students in my field. =)
Her process of teaching is very easy to understand. Class is very interesting and I had a great time. I highly recommend her for Nutrition. Cant imagine anyone doing her job better
Easy easy class. Never used the textbook, studied, or took notes and I still got an A on all tests. Just show up to class and listen, then finish the assignments and you'll pass easy. She gives lots of extra credit opportunities (always a plus). She's very nice to everyone my only complaint is that most of her research is out of date and biased.
Heidi is a great teacher. You don't have to attend class, but if you don't then you miss out on quizzes she randomly has. The quizzes are super easy. Study for the tests and you will do fine.
I loved this class! You learn many interesting things, and she kept the class fun! IF you go and pay attention the tests and quizzes are pretty simple and she offers extra credit. As long as you do everything and pay attention you will do fine!
Easiest. Class. Ever. I never took notes, paid attention, or read the book and got an A-. Jeffs is a really nice lady, it's just a piece of cake. I would not even buy the text book if I were you. No joke.
This was one of my favorite classes I've had at UVU. I did have to study for the tests and it really helps if you attend class! I learned so much!
Heidi helps so much and is a very easy person to work with. As long as you do the open-book quizzes and assignments you will pass the class no problem. She uses powerpoints and gives out study guides for the test the week before and they follow the test closely. She is a teacher who loves teaching and helps her students.
She is awesome and is willing to work with students anytime! It is easy information and pretty much common sense. Her power points and lectures are awesome. Lots of EC options. A few assignments but not hard at all. Study guides are great. Tests aren't hard at all but still does require some studying. Would take her again if I got the chance!
really helpful just show up and you'll do great. study the study guide and you'll do fine
I loved this class. I learned a lot and it was very informative. The class is structured very well. It was the best health class I have ever taken.
Professor Jeffs is awesome! She was very clear and I enjoyed her lectures. The in class activities were fun and helped me remember the material.
I have taken many medical anatomy, human bio, nutrition, courses as well as completed my cna and ma. Out of all the different teachers I've had in this sort of field Heidi is one of the best! She teaches the basics of nutrition in a way that inspires you to do right by yourself and body, I recommend anyone take this class and take it with Heidi!
This class is super fun and easy! Show up to class because you have pop quizzes that are 10 points each! She really is passionate about this subject and is so willing to help others learn the importance of being healthy and having an active lifestyle!
Great teacher! Gives a lot of extra credit opportunities. You need to go to class though for the quizzes. I actually learned A LOT from this class. The only problem I had is that her assignments were based on the previous edition of the text, so some answers were hard/impossible to find. This might have changed by now though.. Great teacher!
I loved Professor Jeffs. She is passionate about the topic and tries to teach using many different teaching styles; powerpoints, videos, articles, personal experiences, group activities, quizzes, etc. She has a good balance of making you work to get an A but it's very do-able and easy if you read the textbook and come to class. She is awesome!!
I absolutely loved this class. Heidi is so sweet and is very emotional and involved in what she teaches. I loved that she had connections to a lot of guest speakers so that we could learn right from the source. I would recommend this class to anyone, and specifically, take a class from Heidi.
I loved taking NUTR 2020 from Heidi. She made class interesting and fun. The tests were easy if you use the study guide. I didn't buy the text, but I did use it from the library before tests. Only one assignment broken into four parts. You won't be sorry if you take this class. I took it in place of biology and I know It was way easier than Bio
This class is pretty easy to pass as long as you show up to class and do the required homework. There's a bit of busy work you have to do, but otherwise its pretty easy. The only downfall is the tests which are extremely long for only a few chapters. Expect to spend an hour on each one.
She really knows her stuff. If she doesn't know the answer to a question she will research it and come back with an answer for you. This was an interesting class. There are pop quizzes (they're super easy) so go to class everyday.
Heidi is passionate about subject, and she is very relatable and down to earth. There are weekly quizzes as well as in-class quizzes, so go to class. She shows cool videos and brings in awesome guest speakers. The reviews she holds are very helpful. Everyone should take this class and learn about Nutrition!
Heidi is amazing! She cares about the subject and teaches with passion. I am one of the first in the IS&T program to take health classes and thoroughly enjoyed being in her class! I would recommend her as a professor to anyone!
Heidi is a really good teacher and really cares to help you understand the material. Overall this is my second class I have taken from her and she is great. There is a lot of homework and quizzes but helps you to understand the material and what you need to know for the tests. Overall she is great and I would take her again.
I took this class online and it was so well organized. If you want an easy way to get this class done, this is a good way to go. She does have you use the textbook for a few assignments, but overall it isn't super important and she gives you two chances on the quizzes.
Heidi's a good teacher but she doesn't explain assignments very well. She is great at letting you know when things are due but not so good at explaining what to do. She lectures a lot and will have quizzes on things she says so if you don't go, you won't get the question right even if you read the power-point. Show up, read the book, you'll be fine
She is very nice, assignment descriptions are slightly vague; that being said if you listen in class and ask for clarity you'll be fine. Don't miss class, there are quizzes everyday. Took two nutrition classes to fulfill science requirement, much more beneficial and easy than taking BIO or CHEM.
She was a really good teacher! I liked her lectures because I really thought they were interesting. She sometimes gives out pop quizzes so always attend class but pop quizzes are super easy and she lets you do with a neighbor sometimes.
As a nursing student, I am prepared to work hard. She doesn't explain assignments, they are hard to find on our class webpage. She is rude and short when you ask questions. She single handedly ruined my semester.
I learned so much in this class. She makes it interesting and I enjoyed attending, which you should do for the quizzes! She had revamped some assignments, so sometimes there were some hiccups, but she always answered my questions quickly and she is very fair and professional. I would take another class from her any day.
Great class! I learned a lot and it was very informative. I can apply this information to my every day life. The class is structured very well.
All of the homework is online which is really nice for those who work full time. She is very funny and wants her students to be successful in and out of the classroom. She does do pop quizzes but they are not difficult. The quizzes go over what you learned that day in class which is really nice. Do the work get an A!
She is a really nice teacher! She does really well in teaching nutrition! Her tests and quizzes are ALL ONLINE :) She does do pop quizzes once in a while so you always have to attend class but they're super easy and sometimes she does them with us! I would recommend her
Her class was all online! It was great, no midterm or final. Just keep up on the assignments and you'll be just fine
There were a few confusing assignments that she switched mid-semester, but otherwise I really enjoyed her class. The assignments are all online, other than a few random in-class quizzes. As long as you do the assignments, you'll do just fine. She provides study guides for the quizzes/tests. The final is not comprehensive, just on the las few chaps.
A solid health teacher, very clear and organized presentations. She is not one to shy away from uncomfortable subjects, so if you are squeamish about discussing procreation or disease, steel yourself. Expects you to be engaged and focused. She doesn't hear well, so you'll need to speak loudly and clearly in order to be heard. Overall, a good class.
Heidi is an amazing professor that cares about students and their grades. She is fun to listen to and uses great slides to help students learn. The tests are easy and so are the assignments. Great professor.
Heidi is a very caring lady & is easy to talk to, but her lectures can sometimes be boring. The only thing that motivated me to get to class were the quizzes she would occasionally have at the end of class. She definitely knows her stuff, but the class could use a "spark."
I really enjoyed this class! Heidi is well prepared and shares things that apply to our everyday health! It was easy and fun.
Heidi is knowledgeable, but sometimes she can get carried away and starts giving us way too much information than we can possibly take in. Pop quizzes, so attendance was necessary for those. Notes and textbook were allowed for all the tests which were all online at home. It's an easy class, but it was difficult to want to attend the lectures.
I loved this class! Heidi uses powerpoints, videos, and class discussions to teach and I learned a lot!
Heidi was a great lecturer and was just overall good at teaching, she shared tons of personal stories that made the class feel very comfortable. We also did some group work that was fun to meet new people.
Heidi is a nice lady. She definitely knows her stuff. She can often get carried away and share an overload of information that you don't need. Class is often boring and long because she lectures off a powerpoint the whole time. But overall, I learned a lot about nutrition and she is a great teacher and she knows how to help her students understand.
I loved this class.
Professor Jeffs is amazing! She is very easy to get hold of, and has her assignments be very easy to understand. Super easy course as long as you're willing to put your work in, and do your work in time! !
This is such a great class!! I took it online and Im so glad I did. It is very easy to get an A, as long as you do the work. There are many assignments to choose from and she isnt too hard of a grader. I had a lot of fun in this class!
Loved having professor Jeffs! She was very clear on what she expected on the assignments. She checks up on her students to make sure they are on track. She truly cares for her students! I would definitely recommend her!
This is one of the easiest online classes you will take at UVU. Professor Jeffs is very good with sending out weekly reminders about assignments. The class is "cafeteria" style, meaning there are roughly 800 points available in the class and you get to pick 375 points to get an A. Overall, I highly recommend Prof. Jeff's!
I took this class online and I love it. You get to choose each week which assignments you want to do, as long as you accumulate a certain amount of points by the end of the semester, you will pass. Depending on the number of points you collect is what determines your grade. She gives really good feedback and is very nice. I would recommend her!
I LOVED Professor Jeffs. I took health online and she was so helpful the whole time!
Gives good feedback. Has interesting PowerPoints.
She is a super awesome teacher!! She has great guest speakers come in. Easy class, even better hybrid.
Her class is really organized and easy to follow! I enjoyed it!
Took this course online, and if you do not get an A+ then it is your own fault. Cafeteria grading style. You only need 375 and there are nearly over 600 possible points to receive. The only thing that matters is doing enough assignments to total up to 375. Super easy course. Definitely one to take.
I took her online class which was setup as cafeteria grading. You have to look ahead at assignments because some of them take days to complete, but overall none of her assignments are too difficult. All the class material comes from the book so get ready to read. Informational class but easy as long as you stayed on top of things.
This class was great! The effort you put in directly affects the grade you get in the year. You get to chose the assignments you want to do in order to get the total number of points in the end for an A. She also checks in on you throughout the semester. She likes to be personable with her students, even though it is an online class.
Professor Jeff's is a great Health Instructor and her class is manageable as long as you stay on top of the modules. Grading is clear and easy to understand.
She was awesome! She would give great, interesting lectures that kept my attention the time. Followed by a short in-class quiz that was easy points. She also had guest speakers come which was entertaining. And about 95% of the homework as online and was pretty simple and actually fun to do.
2 tests, weekly quizzes, and any assignments available, but only a portion are necessary to get necessary amount of points for an A. Got lots of detailed feedback and encouragement. Read the textbook - online version available. For the questions I had, I usually got a quick reply. Provides reviews - somewhat helpful. Graded quick.
Shes an overall good professor. She grades on a point system, so basically the more assignments you do every week- the more likely youll get an A by the end of the semester. Assignments are do every Sunday, and cannot be late. I really enjoyed the class, and shes always available to help if you need anything.
This class was super easy. It is pretty interesting material and you will a solid amount.
Took this class online and it was great. The assignments arent very hard, but they are worthwhile. There is some reading but it helps in order to actually understand the subject. She gives great lectures and really cares about her students. If you pay attention to the readings and do the assignments this class is relatively easy.
Really easy class if you do the assignments. It was a cafeteria class, so you chose what assignments you wanted to do. The tests weren't too difficult if you read the book. It is a lot of reading, but she does a lecture also. She is pretty understanding and lenient.
I took this class as a block course, but still, there was an insane amount of work due every sunday. This class stressed me out, but I did feel like I learned a lot! Heidi was pretty passive as a professor, I felt like I pretty much had to teach myself. She was nice, would answer emails, and gave feedback as well as being a super easy grader.
Jeffs is a very passionate and knowledgeable professor! You learn a lot in this class and all of the material is very applicable to daily life. She loves participation and is very good at answering emails. There is also a lot of group work during class periods (very interactive).
I absolutely loved this class. I learned a lot more than I expected; Heidi is very knowledgeable and works in the field of nutrition. She is great at applying the principles and helping students get the most out of their time in class. I was sad when the semester ended!
This was a good class, she has a lot of options for assignments so you can choose the type of assignment that you learn best from which is really nice. You also can choose whether to take tests or do a project/paper. It's graded by points and so you don't have to do all of the assignments, you just have to get a certain number of points.
I learned a lot from this class after having some nutrition background. She is very knowledgeable and is very patient. I had file issues and even a week after it was due, she still graded it for full points. It is an easy class as long as you stay on top of everything. Tests are also open book, but are only 90 minutes long. Great for learning!
This is a great class! Her lectures are PowerPoints which can be boring, but she's very nice and easygoing. She knows her stuff! There are open note quizzes at the end of every class and homework for the week is all due on Sunday. Homework can be time-consuming, but easy, and all tests are open-note and 90 minutes. Put in the work, you'll pass!
It is not very hard but it is harder than it should be. This class was a huge waste of time. Extremely boring lectures and she just says the same thing over and over again. Goes overtime every class.
She is a really caring and knowledgeable professor
I loved how this class was layed out. I also really liked Prof. Jeffs! She knew what she was talking about and was passionate about it. She also answered any questions that were asked, and I loved the way she taught. She always had powerpoints and the tests were open note which was nice. Overall, I loved this class!
I enjoyed her lectures very much, she did an excellent job at relaying information with her words. I enjoyed the assignments as they helped me to expand my understanding and apply the topics we were learning.
A great professor
She is such a great person and super funny! There was lots of work required, but I learned so much. I definitely don't regret taking this class, because all the things she teaches is valuable. Definitely recommend this class if you are willing to learn and put in work.
Great professor. Had alot of knowledge on the subject and experiences to share with the class. Had class participation pop quizes at the end of each class. Being in class was extremly helpful. Also let us know what would be on the upcoming tests and how to prepare. Lots of helpful information in the class. Would take her again.
She is amazing I loved her class
Don't take this professor she hands out quizzes at the end of every class makes it a pain frfr im hating the class only because of the way this professor is running the course avoid avoid at all costs..
This class was alright. I enjoyed the classes but the quizzes were so detailed they were imposible to pass and felt like it never applied. It felt like just memorizing facts and statistics instead of applying principles into your life. I liked her cafeteria style grading though where you got to pick what assignments you do and in pick your grade
I loved this class; I learned a lot of things to help me live a healthier life! It's easy to get an A if you make a plan and turn your work in!
Of all the courses I've taken, this was my favorite. Professor Jeffs gives great lectures on topics that are relevant and interesting. I've learned so much from this class and it has improved my life. Take this course, you wont regret it!
Professor Jeffs was awesome. The conversations in class were easy to pay attention to. The notes you have to take are pretty minimal, but always help with the end of class quizzes. Cafeteria style grading is super nice in this class. I recommend doing the assignments, so you don't have to worry too much about midterm/final.
She is a good teacher and she knows a lot about the subject. She is available and she responds to canvas quickly. She does not accept late work, but everything is due at Sunday so you have a whole week. You can a learn a lot from this course.
Professor Jeffs wants you to succeed. There are weekly quizzes, and some bigger projects that require some thinking, but the expectations are reasonable from lecture to test. She really encouraged on-topic discussions with other classmates during specific points in her lectures but overall, probably the best nutrition professor I've taken at UVU.
Professor Jeffs is super kind and understanding. She was always willing to make accommodations for me anytime I needed them. You do get points for attendance, and make sure you're actually paying attention to the lectures because the amount of attendance points you get is based on if you get the answers on the end of class quiz right or wrong.
I would definitely have her again. You can tell she cares about the subject and really wants you to understand its importance so that you can become better educated when it comes to Nutrition.
Overall, I think she did an amazing job. The chapters were insightful, homework load, was ok. I liked how she would email you, at the beginning of the week and let you know what all is due. Then again, the day of. I just think how she graded certain things, were a little unfair. She told me more than once, I was missing stuff, when I wasn't.
I enjoyed coming to class because it gave me something to do every few days, though it was tricky for me personally to complete assignments because I was never the best at turning in assignments in the past because of my ADHD. I was also very camera shy for the video essays or anything to do with social media posts for specific assignments.
Her class is very well structured and outlined. The workload was appropriate for the class it felt like and she gives you partial cafeteria-style assignments. She was very understanding and made the class enjoyable with good lectures and assignments that related to the real world. Would recommend her to anyone.
professor jeffs is awesome! the lectures that she gives have awesome information and are super easy to follow. she makes the class super easy and beneficial. you can tell that she really cares about her students, and is passionate about the topic. probably one of the best teachers at uvu! take notes in class and the class will be super easy!
This professor is a very tough grader with tons of homework. I did this class online and did it as a block course. The class is cafeteria style, which is nice. You have two modules put into one week that you have to finish. It is a lot of work and everything is doubled. She grades very hard and gives out too many assignments and quizzes.
I loved this class! There is an assignment choice system with lots of options to choose from. I liked how this instructor had optional video lecture you could watch for credit, if you wanted to earn points that way. I learned a lot about making myself healthier. If you do the work, it's not hard to get an A!
Heidi often discusses how nutrition relates to real life and the community's efforts for better nutrition. She uses a variety of teaching strategies including lectures, group, and partner activities throughout the class. Quizzes and tests are open notes and textbook so it is stress-free if you pay attention in class and read the textbook.
I loved taking nutrition with Professor Jeffs. She made nutrition interesting and something I looked forward to learning about. There are chapter quizzes due at the end of each week but they are open note/open book and can be taken 3 times (usually) for full points. Exams were also open note/open book.
Heidi Jeffs is a good teacher. She reads from the slides and you have quizzes on each day of class which I thought was helpful to retain the information she was giving. The class was interesting and applied directly into my life I would recommend taking it if you are interested in nutrition at all.
I really liked her she was an amazing professor I would take any class she teaches again
Honestly a great class. I frequently would come home and share many things that I learned during lecture. Professor has a "Buffet Style" for the final grade which essentially means there are a variety of different assignment that you can choose from for points. Heidi is awesome and very personable. Her classroom vibe was friendly and inviting!!
This class was really difficult and hard. I had a hard time doing 2 chapters a week for some of those weeks. I couldn't stand also having to do these assignments on these same weeks for some of the weeks in this semester as well.
I learned a lot in this class and I really liked the professor!
This course was loaded, and I learned a lot from the lectures, however, I thought it was completely overwhelming. There are so many things you gotta do during each week in this class. It can be exhausting and since the lectures are heavy there is only so much you can retain. so be ready to read a lot and do lots for this class.
I really liked the open note open book exams. She is enthusiastic and made class time enjoyable. I learned a lot!
The professor has immense knowledge about the themes talk in class and she is willing to teach various methods to understand nutrition in easy ways to comprehend,on the other hand, the classes can be a little monochromatic and dull sometimes, and it gets easy to distract when the professor goes to certain topics that are not relevant to the lecture
There's a lot of work, but she's a nice teacher.
Heidi is an amazing professor! She has a lot of experience in the subject, and her expectations for the class are clearly stated. It can be a lot of coursework throughout the week, but it's completely manageable if you put the time in. The material is interesting and she's willing to work with you. I would 100% recommend taking her class!
she was a tough grader on some things for no reason. I feel like for a ge class she would be a little more understand and less harsh. there's probably a better professor out there.
Her class wasn't hard, but it was hard to sit through. She pretty much just talks the whole time, and doesn't involve us in a lot of discussions. She also isn't the kindest towards students. She tended to snap at students randomly. The main thing that made me give this professor a 1/5 was how often she got side tracked. It really lost my attention.
I loved this class. Professor Jeffs made class interesting with a mixture of activities, discussions, and lecture. She always had great examples.
I thrive on examples and the teacher always had plenty to give. I learned a lot, even though it was a lot of outside reading.
No late work accepted!! This was a good class, workload was average and Heidi is good at giving feedback. She sends out a reminder every Saturday to remind the class what's due (all work is due on Sundays). I was able to rack up enough points on the assignments that I was still able to score an A even though I skipped the final.
I would not recommend this professor to anyone. Her grading criteria is very unclear she writes a few sentences about what she expects, this allows her to grade assignments very harshly. She was nearly impossible to communicate with and was borderline passive aggressive when I could get in communication with her. Overall do not recommend taking her
This is an easy class! You can pick the assignments you want to do. The teacher was responsive to my emails and I'm glad I took this class!
Everything about this class is good.
Professor Jeffs was awesome! She was easy to talk to and was so helpful if you struggled with anything! I would highly recommend taking her classes!
I really enjoyed this class and learned a lot. I appreciate her style and would take her again.
I enjoyed the projects in this class; I learned so much!
Heidi's class covers a lot, but with unstuckstudy and diligence, it's manageable. She's knowledgeable, but can be blunt. Lectures can drag, yet the open-note exams make up for it. Overall, a rewarding if demanding nutrition course.
This professor is really easy going and understanding. She gives great lectures and keeps everyone interested. There is a required textbook but personally I never used it and still did just fine in the class. You should take notes that will help with the end of the week 10 question quiz. Also, there is rarely homework.
Super kind, I was having a lot of trouble keeping up because other classes and working full time, she helped by giving more opportunity to get things done. She is super understanding.
I enjoyed this class and learned a lot. There were chapter quizzes and frequent assignments but she was flexible with students' needs. Quizzes and tests were open note, which was super helpful. Covers a lot of information.
Jeffs is amazing! I really liked her lectures since she's very knowledgeable and gets to the point. There's projects every once in a while in this class, but they're manageable. Jeffs really cares about her students too, and she is very accommodating. I would happily take this class again!
Prof. Jeffs is great, she mixes lectures and group work, lectures have an easy quiz after on what you learned. the book is long, but is great help. She gives quizzes in the textbook for each chapter, but you can use the book during them, the final is the same. assignments are long, but effort gets you a good grade if you give some.
