She's really chill and she gives off a positive energy.
Heidi is a great teacher. Loved being in her class. Very flexable teacher.
She is very understanding. If not sure about picking a ENGL teacher shes a good one. The class wasnt too hard. She can be very flexible.
She is pretty good, just follow the guidelines on the papers she assigns, if you show that you care about your work, she'll make her best effort to make sure you get whatever grade you deserve when looking over your work and making suggestions
Heidi was an awesome teacher. If you work in this class you will get an A. She will help you with anything you are having problems with and is very laid back. Definatly take her, she's great.
great teacher truly cares about teaching. She pick very intresting stories I was never bored in the reading material. I felt she was a easy grader on the papers I never had to re-write a paper she always gave me high B on my papers.
Great teacher. English is not my favorite subject but I did enjoy her class very much. Helpful and flexible. To get an A you had to write 7 essays I think but she grades easy.
This teacher is amazing. Had her for 1301. Got an A in that class. Currently taking her for 1302. She will go out of her way to help anybody who tries in her class. I've had to re-wite a couple papers in 1301 but she told me what to fix instead just giving it back with no feedback. RECOMMEND HER TO ALL!!!!
She is the best teacher for COMP 1302. She helps you to be able to analyze short stories really well and by the end of the semester, it's easy!
Professor Juel was so great! I found her to be very helpful. I gave the class a 3 on easiness because I thought it was very time consuming?it was lots of reading and writing and I am not a fan of either. She was very generous with her grading and always happy to give advice on how to improve something to get the grade you want. I look forward t
She's awesome and down to earth. Talks just like the kids. Pretty funny.
Great teacher. She is helpful and is lenient on grading. Just do not miss class. If you do, you cannot make up the in class assignments and it will be marked as a 0. Class was great, and she is awesome!
P was the best in Comp II and so i took her Honors class for Native American Lit. She really knows her stuff and always presents a challenge, but is there to guide you through them. EXCELLENT PROFESSOR! Just do not miss a class and if you do be in touch she is very understanding.
Wonderful teacher, no complaints
Prof Juel is a GREAT professor! Keep in communication w/ her, & she's very understanding. Helped me greatly for 1301, and I'm taking her for 1302 and Intro to Lit. Definitely recommend her! Know your MLA, and read the assignments. Book use is HEAVY, but she provides handouts and assignments on blackboard.
THE BEST ENGLISH TEACHER AT ACC!!! Easy to understand and she makes you want to learn about the topic at hand. I had Juel for COMP II and ENG LIT HONORS. Keep in touch by email with her and she will help you with most situations.
Best English teacher I've ever had!! Well organized, totally helpful, can always contact her through e-mails. She WILL make you write well. Took her English I & II course. Missed out on her Lit class. I'm actually pretty mad about it.
Prof Juel is an AMAZING teacher; can't say enough good about her. She's very thorough & begs for you to ask questions. She is very understanding if you have outside issues & cooperates wi/ you. Great communication, would definately recommend to anyone wanting to get their money's worth.
I really appreciated her class. She had a very great vibe about her and she was always in a great mood. The five week corse was super quick and there were a lot of essays, but she helped me make it through it!
My fav teacher by far!!! She is funny, polite, super cool. She made English interesting. I've always hated these classes before. She is a MUST for any English class!!!!!!!
This class can seem like a lot of work at first, but I enjoyed it. She helps you along the way and as long as you go by her guidelines, you'll do fine! Just be prepared to read at least one to two short stories per week and have in class assignments. I definitely recommend her!
She is a nice person but I thought her class was rather hard. You can only re-write your paper once and she only gives up to 5% of the grade back. This makes it hard for those who aren't very good writers like me to get a good grade. Her class is kind of boring and her grading is rough
Great lady & wonderful professor. Enthusiastic & knowledgable. Really helped you to learn to analyze works of fiction in-depth. Helpfully answered any & all questions. There were 4 essays from 2 to 5 pages in length. Would highly recommend!
Great teacher. Super helpful. Keeps things light. I enjoyed her class very much and i loathe English.
Juel is the best ever!! I love her tons and want to take her intro to lit class...even though I don't need it. She's just a BAMF, you're a fool if you don't like her, and an even bigger one if you manage to fail because she is super helpful (and fun)
Take her if you can! She is an amazing professor who will help you all you need on your papers. She has great energy and has very involved class discussions.
Professor Juel is so cool! Her class is fun and interesting. She picks really great things to read and write about. It's really easy to get an A in her class. And thanks to her I can write A papers for my other classes. Even if you hate English, you will love her class. She's awesome!
Prof. Juel is a WONDERFUL professor. She is interesting and makes her class the same. She answers emails and goes out of her way to give pointers to help students out. She helps you to see a whole new side to analyzing short stories and she loves Native American topics. I would HIGHLY recommend taking her,I loved her class. AWESOME Professor!
AWESOME teacher! Easy A as long as you show up to class and follow all the guide lines for each paper. Great at what she does and is always there to help all of her students when they need help. Highly recommend taking her class
Awesome Prof. No exams. Just 4 papers, in addition to quizzes, pop quizzes, and in-class assignments. Made an A. Highly recommend.
Professor Juel is such a great teacher! she is really into what she teaches which makes her good. Go EXACTLY by the rubric she gives you for each paper and you will make an A. She gives random pop quizzes though, they are really easy if you actually read the short story. I RECCOMEND! love her, and she doesn't grade that harshly either.
A really great teacher. Easy A in her class! Explains everything well, and really helps kids to understand! Take her class!!
Professor Juel is awesome. She's always helpful and enthusiastic. She answers emails quickly and will review your paper before you turn it in to tell you if you are on the right track. For us, there were 4 papers and some quizzes/in class assignments sporadically over the reading material. If you actually read it's easy. Easy A. Great prof!
Juel is an awesome professor! She takes a while to return any graded assignments, but gives helpful feedback. She replies to emails quickly, and explains material thoroughly. Easy A if you do what she asks!
She's an awesome teacher. I've taken all my English/Lit classes with her.
Super nice lady. Really wants her students to pass and sms to always be available to help. Really enjoy taking her Comp II class :)
She is so funny and really friendly. Class is laid back. It's just a nice atmosphere in which to learn.
She is a great teacher. Lecture gets VERY boring BUT if you can make it through that and follow the instructions for your paper there is no reason to not get an A. She will help you achieve the grade you want and she is a very easy grader.
HONORS LIT: Native American Lit is a great class! I learned so much about Native Americans. I appreciate thier culture more because of Juel. Read 3-4 stories. 3-4 Papers total. One research paper and presentation of your choice for the last paper. I took 3 English class with her. She will help you write a lil better! TAKE THIS CLASS!
Outstanding professor. Loves her students. Very passionate about seeing her students succeed and become better writers. I will take her for ENGL/LIT the rest of my time at ACC. Highly recommend.
Juel is an EXCELLENT teacher. She's very approachable, encourages discussion but does not require it, and she is very willing to answer questions and have debates. She also is extremely clear on what she wants, as she gives out a checklist that is virtually an outline of the kind of paper that she wants.
Prof Juel is amazing. I love her and want to take COMP 2 with her but her class fills so quickly because she is SO great. She makes it understandable and easy. There is no BS in this class. She is a very fair grader and allows corrections. No tests, just papers and they aren't hard topics. She is hilarious and really makes the class enjoyable.
She was wonderful! Willing to help anytime and anyone. Really wants her students to do well. Just do the work she request and turn it in on time! Will take her for Engl Comp ll
I could go on and on about how amazing of a professor Heidi Juel is. Wish I would've taken her for comp 1 and 2. She is such a helpful professor and wants you to strive in class. She was always willing to help you in any way, always replied back to emails, was there for office hours etc. 4 essays, novel, easy quizzes and group presentation
Good Teacher has the passion for what she teaches. No exception must turn papers in on time no make up on quiz no matter what. Must be in class. Lots of readying and various types of papers. Learned a lot.
She clarifies EVERYTHING and class is pretty interesting. I had to figure out how she graded at first then was able to make all As the rest of the way. She also made us feel calm about taking the Department Exam, which helped a lot. She also teaches American Lit I think.
She's a great teacher. I really enjoyed her class. She's really good about replying to emails. If you are confused on something class related shes really good at helping. She's really easy to follow in class. She also grades fairly and gives back great feedback. Nice person.
Great teacher. She is very fun and makes papers not scary at all. She will work with you and you can tell she loves teaching english. She wants you to love it too. Go to the learning lab is you need help writing your paper. No reason you can't make an A in here if you try (and go to the learning lab).
BEST ENGLISH PROFESSOR EVER!! I hated english until I had Juel, she made the subject very easy and enjoyable. She is ALWAYS willing to help and be there for you at all hours. TAKE HER!!!
Great prof!!! Took Amer. Lit. (After Civil War) after not taking a college English course in 10 years and I had no problem readjusting to MLA format due to her explanations and reminders during class...Any further personal advice could be attained during office hrs..reading daily, but usually just a couple pages after the first couple weeks.
Super nice professor. Took her for 2 semesters in a row. Makes the course feel easy to understand/ accomplish. Papers weren't too hard & she helps if you're confused on instructions, just don't procrastinate it. She's very passionate about English and it shows in her style of teaching! Would gladly take her again if I needed. Definitely recommend!!
Professor Juel is great! I took her for both 1301 & 1302, and I got A's for both. She encourages students to be engaged, and will gives quizzes on the materials to see if you've read them, and how much you remember. She is always willing to read over your essay drafts and give pointers. Funny, engaging, and helpful. Take her. She's the best!
She has a no-nonsense approach in the class. The schedule and expectations are crystal clear from day 1. Very to the point conversation with no fluff. I have definitely learnt plenty in her class. Highly recommended.
Very friendly teacher, very helpful! there is no exams, occasional quizzes but don't count for anything. Four papers to write over the whole semester. looking for an easy A? show up to class, write the papers and you're good.
AMAZING TEACHER! SECOND BEST TEACHER AT ACC, behind Mike Huff! Really helps you understand and will answer any question you have! If you want to just show up to class and do as little work as possible, then don't take her because there is a good amount of stuff you have to do, but she really helps you out and is really nice!!!!!!
Awesome teacher, along with Professor Huff!! You will need to be proficient in knowing how to read and write at a college level. I suggest a developmental prior to taking this class. Homework heavy and if you are stuck on something, she is slightly unorganized at disseminating info and explaining a students troubling issue.
This prof. will assign you so many freaking readings it's unbelievable! I have never had someone assign so many things in one week.. I should've known when I bought all the books but it really is overwhelming. It's pointless to do the discussion board assignments when they aren't for a grade and she goes over them in class ugh waste of my life.
She is a great professor and I would take her again if there is ever a chance. I have learned a lot and she makes it so simple to make sure you pass. She gives detailed instructions for everything.
She gets upset if you don't go to her class yet finish all her assignments and papers even though the syllabus says nothing about attendance and she will make sure you get a B- in her class. She's very mono-toned and her classes are so pointless. Overall her class should just be online and the amount of work you get for her class is ridiculous.
Her classes are extremely pointless and if you don't go to her class she will make sure to hand you low grades even though it says nothing about attendance in her syllabus. She expects a perfectly written novel every time which is outrageous. She's a terrible teacher that doesn't know what she's doing, do yourself a favor and don't ever take her.
She won't specifically call you out for sleeping, not paying attention, etc. But your participation grade will dive. She will let you miss class if you have a solid reason. The workload isn't bad. You read a lot but they are almost always short selections. You can't be "wrong" as long as you can support what you say. You get a lot of freedoms.
English/Lit by far is my best subject and I have a passion for writing. That being said I want honest, feedback good or bad and she gives it. She seems to give out so many handouts to print, but I have utilized every page of it. She chooses fiction that is challenging to analyze, which is why we are in college. She is brilliant in her profession.
Amer Lit 2: Get ready to read about Native Americans. Lots of reading and homework. Do the all graded assignments or your grade will suffer. Her feedback on papers is too slow and she is strict about MLA format. Tough on papers but vague about grading criteria so you won't know where those 15 point went besides proof reading/MLA even if you ask.
Great teacher, but lectures slightly boring and monotone. Posts everything you need to know about assignments online. All in all, she was a pretty decent professor. Do the work and you'll have no problems.
Professor Juel is a great professor! This is my second class with her. She is very thorough and straightforward with her teaching. Her discussion and analysis are great. She gets back to you very quickly with any questions you have and knows each one of her students well. She does give a lot of homework, but it helps make what you learn stick well
Very long, one-sided lectures. Takes weeks to grade things. Literally 30% of the literature in this class is by either non- or Native-Americans which is a bit odd for an American Literature course. Very tough grader on essays and does not allow corrections. Gives extra credit if your discussion board assignments or in-class comments are very good.
Professor Juel is a great English Teacher. I took her for Eng1302 and she was really great. She is a fair grader and lets you know what you did wrong. Its really easy to pass her class.
doesn't give back graded essays before the next one is due, so its hard to know what to do right for the next essays. Gets mad when you ask for grades. Feedback is always negative so you never know what you really do right. Lectures are based off her re-reading the short story that was assigned for hw.
Prof Juel is one of the rare ones who cares and is very good at her job. You will get out of her class what you put into it. Always accessible by email and office hours. Class discussions are interesting, so participate! Definitely not a class for slackers, but the A is there if you put in the time and effort.
Prof. Juel was really awesome. She had learned all of our names by the second week and she only assigned the bare minimum papers required (4). She was very clear on her instructions and her grading criteria were very clear as well. I am excited to take English 11 honors from her next semester!
She is a great teacher! I took her this semester and she cares about her students. Take her if you get a chance because you will learn a lot. If you do your work then you should be fine.
Easy class. Show up, do your work, get easy A
she's so nice, she always reply to her email fast. but the only thing is that she takes forever to grade and she doesn't give us the paper's until she hand us the other paper. It's not hard to pass her class but you have to spend time doing the essays that she gives you. She doesn't gives any tests which is good. I really recommend taking her.
Professor Juel is super funny and makes class interesting, she clearly lays out what you have to do on every paper and gets you very prepared for the departmental exam.
Super enthusiastic, even when the rest of the class wasn't. Not extremely tough grader, but still tough, you probably won't ever get over a 95 and that is only if your paper is nearly perfect. Gives good feedback, really takes the time to analyze each and every one of your papers. Good at responding to emails, and very helpful! Super nice & funny.
Professor Juel was a kind professor but the class was boring. If I had to take the class again, I wouldnt take her.
Professor Juel cares about her students learning how to structure an essay effectively, not just about them getting perfect grammar. She really wants class participation.
I absolutely adore Prof. Juel! She is kind, caring, and so far, both of the classes I've taken from her have been the best I've ever taken. She is very passionate about English and clearly loves to teach! She is super super helpful. She actually had memorized all of our names by week 3! Take as many classes as you can from her, she's a real gem :)
Professor Juel makes each class enjoyable. She gives out a few quizzes that are done on blackboard and you will have 4 major essays. She is very understanding and responds to emails very quickly.
Not my first choice, but good in a pinch, or you need another English class. She tries to make it fun to learn and connect to today's topics. Grades your papers in a weird manner, and often come in late too.
Professor Juel is a great professor she is a tough grader on papers but do what the instructions tell you and you will be able to pass with no problem. She is there for you in her office hours if you need her and provides great help. I would highly recommend her even if English isnt your favorite subject.
Professor Juel is obviously passionate about both Literature and teaching. Her class was very engaging and involved a lot of class participation. She grades papers fairly and her instructions are clear. She helped me come to love literature and writing as an art form. She often focused on the cultural significance of the literature we studied.
She's entertaining. There are 4 papers. The last "paper" is more a worksheet about how well you can apply the material you learned in class. I really enjoyed her, however I took her hybrid class and it didn't work for me because it's harder to keep up with. Papers are straight forward, made an A on all 4. PARTICIPATION IS KEY. Slightly unorganized.
Professor Juel is a real gem. I took her for ENGL-1301 and ENGL-1302. I would recommend her to anyone! I took her 1302 hybrid class and it was great. She grades things in a timely manner and gives good feedback on your essays. In the hybrid class we had a discussion board once a week, 1 quiz a week, and 4 essays. Just do your work and you'll be ok.
Double check that you aren't accidentally taking a hybrid class if you don't want one. She's super nice but grades somewhat harshly. Pay attention to exactly what she's looking for.
Seemed passionate about the literature we discussed, which for me was sort of infectious. Really encourages group discussions, both in class and online (some online discussions are graded, she's clear on which ones are). I would say she grades fairly, but can wait a bit long to get grades posted. Personally, i really enjoyed this class.
Professor Juel is a good professor. She expects you to contact her for help to get an A. She is doing a nice thing of protesting to remove the Departmental final. You share your thing with her on google docs, she sends you comments. Watch out for Annotate bibliographies: super hard. There are also some hard readings and quizzes that follow.
I took her honors class and I loved it! She is super cool and really wants you to succeed. Take her if you can!
I was nervous because I took the fast class and I do not like English, but she is a fantastic teacher. Short story reads and she is clear of exactly what she wants on the assignment and how she is grading. She gives feedback on your draft if you want before you turn in. I learned a lot from her. Do the work and you will pass. Papers are not long.
super sweet and enthusiastic! sort of tough on papers, don't expect anything above a 90 usually. however, she gives very detailed corrections on your papers
Professor Juel is such a great professor. She is really passionate about the material she is teaching and genuinely wants her students to learn. She took the time to make videos on the feedback for papers which was super helpful so you know exactly how to improve. She is a really nice person and would definitely recommend taking her! Easy grader to
She is so passionate about her subject. I felt so incredibly lucky to have her because the passion she has is so inspirational. She is very clear on the expectations and gives specific feedback on your work. Her enthusiasm for the stories she assigned us to read only made me want to read them more so that made the assignments easy to get through.
She is a really nice proffesor, and she is always willing to hlep. You have to submit 3 paper that are for 60% of your grade. The lectures are intresting, but if you did not do the reading, you wont be able to participate.
I had prof. juel for English-1301 last semester and I had her this semester for honors 1302. she is an amazing professor and is always super fun and exciting. the lectures are based on the readings, so unless you do the readings, you can't participate and part of the overall grade is a participation grade.
I hated writing papers before going into this class. I didn't know what I was good and bad at but Professor Juel gave great feedback! All of her homework that didn't have to do with papers were about current topics so it made the class interesting. I wish I could take her for 1302 but I think she only teaches the honors version of that class.
<3 AMAZING and SWEET teacher. Always responds quickly, is super caring, and understanding. As long as you show up and give your opinion you pass. The essays are not long and are always a topic of your choice! As long as you write down what you think and run it through Grammarly you pass. VERY discussion/group heavy but doesn't force participation<3
Prof Juel was very kind and caring. Several papers with interesting topics. She chose some difficult topics to talk about for our assignments, but it caused everyone to open up and we had really good conversations. If a student wasn't comfortable with the topic, she had alternate assignments available. Overall, really enjoyed the class!
She says she's willing to help but she really doesn't. I didn't like her attitude she made it seem like this English class was the pinnacle for success in life and wasn't trying to work with the student. Just an advice if you're a person who's not strictly going to school do not take this class because she does not care.
Loved Prof Juel, she really cares about your success as a student. Always gets back to emails pretty fast. Be sure to be familiar with MLA format, she's pretty strict on that in papers. Participation in class will get you far with her and honestly just helps you understand the readings/assignments better so go for it.
Awesome!. The topics were controversial and thought-provoking. Assignments were fair, instructions were clear and reiterated multiple times for additional clarity. She welcomes all questions. Overall, I walked away feeling that I gained a lot more than the A I received. She's a passionate professor and I enjoyed her class.
professor juel is so sweet! one of the few professors where i felt really comfortable participating in class :) as expected, there'll be readings assigned, but nothing too out of the ordinary. she gives very detailed feedback on essays and emails back pretty quickly
She's awesome! Take her class if you want to become a better writer and reader. Her stories are truly inspiring, and she helps you get to that goal to where you need to be.
Professor Juel is an extremely kind professor who goes out of her way to make sure all student have every possible chance to pass her class! Her lectures are in depth and inspiring, they seriously make you want to participate in her class. I look forward to taking next semester with her!
This was my 2nd semester with this professor and she is amazing. She gives lots of instructions to make sure that everyone knows exactly what's needed for each assignment. She's very patient and understanding. The texts were always thought-provoking and relevant. She's organized and clear on what she wants. It's very hard not to enjoy her class!:)
Prof Juel is awesome! She's funny, engaging and really loves the material she teaches. She's super into talking about controversies and loves when everyone shares their opinions. There's lots of articles, short stories, & poems in this class, & they're all really interesting. Papers are about yourself, so they're easy to write. Loved this class!
Prepare to do a lot of work and not get papers graded for ~2 months. The final exam is pass or fail, you fail the semester if you don't pass. It's about how you grew as a writer even if you didn't bc you maintained high grades (once you found out), so you basically have to BS it. Professor herself is nice. Felt like an expensive book club though.
Didn't have syllabus week 1, assignment instructions scattered across 10 different files in various folders, 1 assignment was given through Google Drive w nothing on Blackboard, took over a month for any grades. But expected students to do a presentation on a movie, read an entire novel, write 2 essays, quiz, & discussion during finals.
Prof Juel was amazing! There was a heavy reading load but she was so incredibly gracious and caring. Just do the reading and the work and you will pass. She ALWAYS emailed back right away, even on the weekends and at night. Yes, the class was a little hard, but she wants to help you succeed! I am excited to learn more adn take her in the Spring!!
Amazing professor! Had very inspiring lectures and assigned interesting articles to read! A reading and writing heavy class but each unit is interesting and engaging. Multiple essays so get ready to type.
Professor was nice and organized, but the class just wasn't too interesting for me. Feedback on papers was detailed, but took a long time to get back. 3 essays, a few mini quiz's online & a few discussion boards. Final exam is completely pass or fail and determines if you get credit for the class. Lectures are extensive, but not hard to understand
She's a very nice professor but seemed disorganized. The syllabus stated that essays must be submitted and graded prior to submitting the next essay. That wasn't possible as it took over a month to get back essay grades. Overall easy class but no efficiency whatsoever when it came to grading. Felt more like a book club than college english course.
Professor Joel is so sweet, funny, and genuinely cares so much about her students. As long as you show up to class and communicate with her regularly, you are set! She was so understanding about many life situations and class was genuinely fun. I will note that she takes a while to grade papers.
Professor Juel is such a caring professor. I would love to take another class with her. Her reading assignments are meaningful and she helped me truly grow as a person through these thought-provoking assignments. I loved having her as my professor in her Honors Comp class in the spring. Take any class with her and you won't be disappointed :)
Professor Juel is the best. She really helped me when I was worried about the work I didn't understand because my English is not good. She does care about her students. Must take her class.
Professor Juel is really cool. She is very in touch with today's generation, and it shows in her assigned readings and our class discussions. She assigns a lot of readings, but it is not too overwhelming. I wish we talked more about writing and becoming better writers in class. Overall, she's kind and knowledgable and is willing to help you learn.
Professor Juel has a super laid back welcoming vibe and really wants to work with you for your success. The class I took was the English 1302 Liberal Arts Gateway. The writings she shared and required us to read were AWESOME and thought provoking. Lots of room for creativity when choosing what to write about.
I took English 1302 (Fall '23). She taught high school; very patient. She provides the course schedule on the first day. Everything is posted online. She sends emails after each class. The final grade comes from four papers, discussion boards, and participation. A LOT of reading!!! Tells you how to write the papers but takes forever to grade.
Professor Juel is engaging and clearly cares about the subject and her students. ENGL 1302 is doable as long as you take your time with papers and put in the effort to do the readings before each class. Classes can be a bit boring, but they're manageable and not difficult. Just make sure you read the rubrics for papers, and you should be just fine.
Professor Juel is AMAZING! You can tell she's passionate about her profession. She truly makes you appreciate the value of taking an English class and learning how to engage in critical thought and self-reflection. I loved all the reading material and discussions we had in class. She's also very understanding & caring :)
I LOVE Hedi Juel! She is very in touch with our generation, she cares about her students, and most importantly she is a mental health advocate! Her class is based on discussion boards, quizzes on readings, and major grade essays! She explains things well and sends follow up emails! I will say it's a lot of reading but everything is straight forward
Professor Juel is great! She has very clear expectations regarding grading and participation (including attendance scores), provides feedback when needed for writing assignments, and always have interesting and thought-provoking reading rather than textbooks. Her teaching style is excellent for freshmen-level English courses and beyond!
This teacher is honestly so old school and very rude. I would not recommend taking her class. First 3 classes she was talking about non related class material the whole time, she is very strict, she talks super slow &
I didnt love her class starting out but Prof Juel is genuinely a kind woman, she loves what she teaches and is always excited to help. Lectures were really dull but it was an easy class to pass. Just participate where you need to, show some enthusiasm and you'll be fine, not super homework heavy. Less than half the class attended most lectures:(
One of the nicest professors I've ever had. Very understanding if you just talk to her but beware she gets pretty political. Loved this class I highly suggest if you're looking for an easy A.
Professor Juel is really kind and understanding! She is one of the best professors that I have ever had. Lectures were engaging and thought-provoking. Taking her again for English 1302!
Professor Juel runs a great class - lots of interesting readings and opportunities to flex your writing skills. Though assignments can be time-consuming, using resources like unstuckstudy really helped me stay on top of things. Overall, a rewarding experience.
I hate to give such a low rating b/c she is very sweet & I appreciate the effort in finding interesting,culturally-diverse&politically relevant readings. Unfortunately, she did not teach a single thing. Class is just a group discussion about thoughts on the reading. Closest thing to “teaching” are the PDFs of NortonFieldGuidetoWriting on Blackboard
She's super nice but classes are a drag. very picky about her midterm and final grades so be careful when doing those other than that class is easy just a bit boring.
Great prof! Her classes are about listening to your opinions over the readings and are open for discussion. She grades fairly, and assignments are on the easier side compared to other profs. Her passion is clear for what she does, and cares about her students!
Loved taking her class! Very caring and understanding throughout the semester. I found her assignments very thought provoking and easy to follow. I loved that there was no required textbook purchase and all readings were given to us. Definitely recommend Prof. Juel to anyone.
If you're ready to expand your thinking and challenge your perspective, take this class!!! Her Hyflex Honors English Composition II course was the most transformative college experience I've had. We dove into Indigenous histories and feminist narratives, and the conversations we had as a class were truly eye-opening. Loved the group work as well!
She's a nice person; however, her classes are not productive. She didn't teach us anything regarding writing essays or anything of educational value; it's just sitting and talking about your feelings on certain topics regarding society today. If you need help regarding MLA formatting or anything useful, it's in Blackboard for you to figure out.
Pr. Juel offered perspective. I appreciated the hybrid format of class. Discussions were open. I felt her class could've been structured better. I'd missed several assignments bc they were posted later (didn't show on BlckBrd); or docked for arbitrary/opinionated feedback, like my focus statement being after my context, or paraphrasing when citing.
