Great teacher, very funny, enjoyable course

Funny as hell. Great teacher! Her tattoo rocks.
She is a cool teacher!. She is into poetry so if your good at it she will really work with you. I had her for english and for one paper she just told me to translate the meaning of a long poem of mine and she will take it inplace of a class assignment.
super easy papers but the stories you have to read are totally ridiculous and boring. Easy class
By her flakiness you'd almost never know she is one of the most brilliant people walking Clark's campus. I really enjoyed the discussions in this literature class. The four papers were moderately easy but you had the option to re-write any of them.
I gained a new appreciation for some of the more classic poetic forms and - Well she is one hell of a professor and a stone hottie (hotty? - Wher is spell-check when you need it?
Ms. Thompson does rock! She is darn tough (I had to re-write every paper) BUT I actually learned how to write a term paper! A great teacher! If you are willing to work hard, she is willing to work hard right along with you. If you want to learn – take
I GOT AN "A" IN HER CLASS, AND IT WAS AN EASY ONE. SHE ALLOWS YOU TO REWRITE EVERY PAPER WITH HER SUGGESTIONS FOR A BETTER GRADE. I AM UNSURE HOW SOMEONE COULD FLUNK THIS CLASS!
Fun class. Great room discussions. Very willing to help if asked. Always sincere. She was thoughtful and considerate, excellent qualities for any teacher!
Thompson was a great professor, and I learned to enjoy that class. Some of the discussions were kind of boring, but overall I liked the class. She's a very nice lady, and she is very willing to help you be a better writer.
Her speaking style doesn't match her intelligence. I was off put from her first couple of lectures, but once i got to know her better, she really is a remarkable instructor. Her teaching style is fantastic, she's definitely willing to go the extra mile, but don't take advantage of it. Work for it.
A little eccentric, Leopard tatoo and all, but how cool is that, she lets you rewrite your papers (4 total) and helps you do it. This gal is the epitome of an awesome instuctor. Absolutely brilliant is an understatement.Genuinely cares about people but don't---- with her she can be bad to the bone!

She is one of my favorite professors! Very helpful and great personality!
One of the most intelligent, humorous, and caring teachers I have ever had the opportunity to study with. She actually cares about her material and her students, and has no fear of being a legitimate human as well as a talented teacher.
I would highly recommend Ms. Thompson. She is the most nices instructor in the English department that I know. Her teaching style "rocks", she lets you revise your all your paper for you to learn your mistakes. Overall shes a 12 from 1-10.
Ms. Thompson is a GREAT teacher. She lets you pick your topic for your paper and does everything she can to help you. Taking her class made me decide to major in English.
helps make sense of the mumbo jumbo of poetry
Professional yet funny. A hard grade giver yet willing to give hours of her own time to help you improve both uour skills and grade. I learned more in her class than in all my previous forays into writing effectively. The most entertaining, intelligent and beautiful (seriously hot!) professor I have ever had the priveledge to studied with!
Both classes that I took with her were very enjoyable. She tends to include her political outlook and view of society, but who doesn't. Very friendly and energetic, she is flexible when it comes to assignments and very understanding. Great teacher.
So far, the most entertaining class I have been in. She's a bit eccentric, but I actually learned a few things and became interested in some aspects of history that I didn't know existed. Not too difficult and willing to help (it appears she is willing to help to the point where she has no time for herself).
It was a Intro to Film class that I took and it was good. We watched movies all class period and turned in 4 (3 page) essays total. VERY good films watched in class, though I learned nothing about the study of film. Maybe it was because we didn't even open the book once!
This was a film class and it was the easiest three credits I've ever received. Thompson is very friendly, encourages lively group discussion and has a great taste in movies (she has a lovely, dry sense of humor, as well). You write four 3-page essays and give two, very short oral presentations. Couldn't be more simple!
She was an awsome teacher. She did her job well, and before her class i hated ENGLISH but now i know i ca do it thanks to her..... take her you will love the class. Only three papers, and no mid-term or final!!!!!!
Recomend! Very interesting. Lepord print women, you can spot her a mile away.Failed the class because I didn't get all my work turned in, but that was my fault she was a very good teacher.
I felt that Heidi Thompson was not a consistant grader. I did fine on 3 out of 4 essays- got an F on one. Went to her for help with revision. She told me what to change and I still got an F. She has a very odd personality. I would reccomend finding a different teacher.
Heidi is the coolest, quirkiest (in a tottaly good way!) teacher around. She made Eng 101 really interesting and treated the students with respect. Highly recommended.
I had her as a teacher a few years ago at almost 50 years of age. I hated english and now I love it. Wish I'd had her in high school - it would have changed my career choices. Highly recommend.
Fun class! You just watch movies and write papers.
she is entertaining and keeps your attention. no tests just papers with every chance to re-do papers great teacher
Heidi LOVES cinema, and really knows her movies. She's open to other viewpoints, and is actually a very easy teacher to please. Make sure to use correct punctuation, or she'll get you! Overall, I really enjoyed this class and would recommend her. She's VERY open to helping with re-writes, and very flexible with papers overall. Great teacher!
She doesn't explain very well what you should to do.She has a lot of subjectivism and it is hard to communicate to her.It was confusing to work with her,and she doesn't helpless.
She is the most horrible intro. to Fiction teacher. Her material was incredibly dry chose terrible material, didn't appear to know what she was talking about, and I learned nothing. As an English major I would NOT EVER recommend her for ANY English class. She doesn't know what she's talking about when it comes to fiction.
Heidi is an amazing teacher!! I highly recommend taking her class. She makes english fun and interesting. She actually cares about her students and wants to see them do well. She gives you the chance to re-do your papers if you get a bad grade and she will help you as much as you need. Seriously, she is a great teacher and so helpful!!
Best English teacher ever. Very clear and gives you so many ideas on what to write and how to write it. If you hate English, you wont after this class. Highly recommend her
Heidi was awesome! A bit scatterbrained, but it's not a detriment to to the class whatsoever. She's laid back, but really enthusiastic about movies. The woman knows her stuff, that's for sure. I absolutely adored this class! You're in for a real treat with Heidi.
I don't like to write. This teacher was able to keep my attention and allow me to be me. If your not sure who to take ENG 101 from, take it with Thompson or now Rich.
Prof. Thompson is an awesome teacher! I wish she taught Engl 102! The subject matter is fun and entertaining, and she really cares about your success in her class. She is extremely helpful and gives you the opportunity to re-write your papers if you wish. I highly recommend he class!
This class is very easy! You will write 4 papers three of which are 3-4 pages long. the final paper is 5-6 pages long. She is not very good about getting papers back to you AT ALL. so don't expect to be able to keep track of your grade. If you want an easy class take this one!
She is a very easy teacher. She is a little out there, but over all she is a interesting teacher. I agree with the one below me, she does take forever to give you your papers back, so it is hard to follow what exactly your grade is. I would definitely take another class with her!
Seems really easy, she's super laid back. She's too laid back. Teaches the class more like a film class (she also teaches a film class). We barely go over grammar or composition. Mostly we talk about different topics for our papers. She is super scatter-brained and this will be the second weekend before getting my paper back. The first one.
Heidi is a very nice lady. This was my first class since high school, I was scared at first but she calmed me down. She is not strict at all, she understands everything. I personally liked her as a teacher. Now I am taking english 102 and the teacher is strict, wish I was more prepared.
She was almost always late to class and would release the class late. She teaches you about movies but grades on your ability to write an essay (shes also an english professor). She has never taught us anything to help us write our essays better (they are 80% of your grade)but its still a fairly easy class
Her class was a totla waste of my time. Over $350 for her course and the useless text book that we didn't need. She has never returned any of my rewrite papers and the class has been over for 2 weeks. She never gave me any clue as to what grade I would be receiving even after asking her 3 x's
I had her for English 101 and I thought the class was easy. I turned everything in on time and participated in most of the class discussions and she liked me. It feels more like an elective English class than English 101. She is pretty scatter-brained and gives papers back in about 2 weeks (which is pretty late).
She is an awesome teacher. She takes the time to go over things with you if you dont understand. She also allows you to revise your essays for a better grade. I really enjoyed this class. I never saw "subtitled" films before. I loved them. I would highly recommend her. I cant wait to take eng 101 from her.
you write 3 papers, a small presentation, a slightly longer presentation, and a take home final which is another paper. Teacher is easy, she grades a bit difficult but allows you to re-write the papers. I got an A- and didn't re-write my 3rd paper
all one has to do is show up write your essays, Heidi is an engaging teacher. ecentric and unorganized. however she is fun has a wonderful sense of humor and gives students every chance to make good grade in her class..
I was surprised at her teaching style. She did away with the text book for our 1/4 (thankfully) and didn't ever seem like she had things under control. Never gives good direction, then grades the papers very harshly. Makes sense now that I know she teaches English as well. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HER. Thats just my 2 cents though.
I recommend her. Amazing, funny, yes eccentric, but lectures went by quickly and where a good time. Definitely not boring. She goes over a variety of writing styles. Plays movies to demonstrate a genre. 4 papers, three 3-4 pg and final was 5-6 pg. She must have gotten better at timely grading, because it only took a week or two to get mine back.
I was worried going into this class being my 1rst time back to school in 4 yrs. Im glad I took her class. Yes she can be a little loopy, but it made it enjoyable for me. She can take a while to get papers back, but it wasn't a problem. She will work with you on your revisions and does anything possible to help u w/ ur topic, and no text book rqird
Heidi is awesome!! A bit eccentric, however that makes an otherwise boring class and subject fun. She was a tremedous help to me in learning both MLA and APA styles. Very hard on gramnmar, and strict grading on essays, however she allowed you to correct the mistakes, and changed the grade. Great sense of humor, treats everyone equal.
Take a different humanities if you want an A. It may sound easy, right? But I am an A student and got a B out of the class. She is a very nice lady, but the class should be re-labeled "writing about films" because essentially its an English class in which you write four 3+ page papers and they are harshly graded and only out of 4.0 points.
Heidi graded me a 1 out of 4 for the 4th essay I wrote because she said I did not go to class everyday. All we did in the class was watch films and she did not teach any grammar or normal English class assignments. I definitely would NOT recommend taking her class.
Mrs Rich in incredibly smart. however her thoughts are all over the place and she is late to class everyday. i took her english 101 and humanities 152 got a b for both the essays she assigns are easy.
Heidi is fun, funny, and smart. She can be a little ditsy but that was what made her class fun. We did four essays and I didn't do the best on them, but she lets you revise it for a better grade. I recommend her class.
She is a nice lady, but I didn't learn anything in her class. She spent the entire class rambling about stories. She grades VERY heavily on grammar, yet didn't spend any time in class talking about grammar. Every essay you write is 20% of your grade, so better make them good. Bottom line: Steer clear of this teacher!!!
Heidi is a profoundly compassionate and caring teacher. It's easy to write her off as ditzy, but that doesn't do her justice as a teacher. If you actually invest your time in meeting with her to go over your essays you will learn a tremendous amount. She has an expert eye for editing, and knows her subject really well.
She was very nice and friendly, but I honestly didn't learn anything in her class. We had several presentations and hardly any instructions, but easy to pass. On the papers, her corrections were only about grammar, instead of about the films and content. It was an easy class with loose guidelines, but i had hoped for more from this class.
Heidi is a compassionate teacher, she wants you to succeed. The only way you can make it in her class is to do really well on the papers. She is always available to be met with and has constructive feedback on papers. I feel this class improved my writing overall. It was fun, Heidi is a wonderful teacher.
She is one of the WORST teachers I have had. She never once had us use our expensive textbooks. Her instructions were TERRIBLE. There were no expectations, and I learned absolutely nothing. I am a huge film fan, and her movies were terrible. BEWARE HER CLASS.
I absolutely love this teacher! She grades pretty strongly on grammar but lets you revise your papers for a better score. She explains everything so I really understand what is expected in the assignment. I like how she gives you tons of essay ideas. We did not have a lot of homework other than the 4 essays. Take a class from her!
I had her a couple of quarters ago. She is really nice. She is willing to work with you no matter what the problem is. I would recommend her to anyone that is taking ENGL 101.
She was one of the worst ENG 101 teachers I ever had this past Fall quarter 2012, very flaky when it comes to making appts with her, and all she talks about is her film stuff more than an english teacher ever should. I would not recommend her!!
A wonderful caring teacher, Willing to help students on her own time with questions and essays. Will allow revisions to papers and does alot with movies. I loved her class, she isnt real specific sometimes though and is a bit spacey but fun. She is a very real person. Would take her class anytime.
She is a good etcher!
Very kind and sweet old lady. Extremely smart. She might not seem like it but she really is smart. It's slightly difficult to approach but once you get talking to her, then she helps out a lot. She even allowed you to revise your papers. Everything except for the four essays were a little too easy.
So far, we've watched horrible movies, rushed through class time with little instruction, and all my papers have been graded only in grammar, something I honestly don't think helps with the purpose of this class. I am very disappointed and I don't recommend anyone take it. She seems spacey and unorganized, but I admit she is very willing to help.
I absolutely hated this class. Heidi is very nice and smart, but taught us nothing about cinema. She is scatterbrained and unorganized. Every movie but one was either silent or subtitled and were very obscure. On the third day of class she expected us to write about cinema without teaching anything about the subject. Run Away!
Very hard on grammar. Cares more about grammar than the actual topic of the paper. Good news is you can revise papers and no textbook needed. Super helpful and genuinely kind lady though-not a great humanities teacher. Way too hard for a 3 credit class! It didn't help that ALL films were weird and boring that I had to fight sleeping through!
Terrible class, and terrible teacher. She knows Cinema, but can't teach it. I learned nothing from this class, waste of time. She lets you redo your paper, and even if you do what she wants, she will still fail you if she doesn't agree with your thesis statement. Scatterbrained and unorganized. Don't bother unless you have to.
Amazing instructor! She respects what every students writes about. This is a COLLEGE course, so expect your grammar to be graded. All of the movies she shows are somehow revolutionary, pay attention. Overall, great experience.
I liked this class. We read stories, and talked about them in class. There were 4 essays, but she gave you the chance to redo them. Great class!
Very surprised at the horrible reviews on her. She's a wonderful teacher. She's a bit funky but is absolutely willing to help you whenever you ask. Heidi wants people to do well in her class and succeed. Overall, one of the better professors at Clark I've had the pleasure to have.
This was a great class. I am usually intimidated with classes that require heavy writing. By allowing me to revise my essays, using her questions, I went deeper in my analysis and became a more confident writer. I learn a lot.
I had a great time with her. If you are already comfortable with your writing and simply need practice and constructive feedback, she is great. If you are not as comfortable and need more help with basic concepts you may get a little lost. Her grading is tough, but she lets you revise all of your papers without penalty except for the final.
She is a fantastic teacher. Not a lot of homework. IF you are able to meet with her (she overbooks herself) she is great. She really explains a lot. I have nothing bad to say about her class.
Honestly I was and am not impressed. She had a hard time thinking straight. Came to class unprepaired, and she did not follow her schedule. On top of all this when I didnt use her opinions on my papers I got marked down. She did not explain her grading at all. I will not take her class again.
Gives a decent amount of quizzes and they are very easy. The only thing out of the entire class I did not like were the essays. Everything else is an easy A. Take notes, watch the movies then discuss the movie as a class or in individual groups. A very sweet and kind teacher.
Easy A? Hel* no. heidi is a genuinely nice person but the class was so useless.. most of the time you will be left wondering why in the world am i learning this, what is she talking about? Theres a few essays that you will not understand because her directions are literally the most confusing out of any class. very very very tough grader.
This class was a joke. Routinely unprepared and scatter brained. No clear grading criteria. More time is spent watching film clips than discussing paper topics or thesis's. Demanding yet vague. Pick another class, you'll be glad you did.
I would not recommend this teacher. Very unorganized, and overly emotional. Depending on her mood depends on your grade. Gets very upset when people disagree with her, and a student had to rewrite a paper because the thesis offended her. She then, very unprofessionally, ranted about it in front of the entire class! Do not take.
She's so wanting and she's such a dreamer. Over analyzes every line you read. Class is really annoying and I dread attending. Doesn't focus on essays and is really scatterbrained. I love the textbooks, hate the class.
The most unorganized and scattered class I've taken. 3 essays are required for the class, I didn't get them back(no feedback) until the last week of class. It's a joke. She's sweet but maybe has too much on her plate. Graded more on grammar and punctuation on essays than you actually understanding the material. Pick a different class.
very unclear of any and all expectations, lost one of my papers after she graded it and blamed me for not having it. I was in the hospital and asked for an extension from the hospital bed but she still wouldnt give it to me, when she's incredibly disorganized. unfair grader, comments are illegible. do not take her class.
Awesome class! She was a great teacher, this was her first time teaching De-extinction and I think she rocked it! She was super informative, even though she did ramble a bit at times.
My first impression of her was: unorganized! First day of class and she bately introduced herself, didn't care to ask students about themselves (get to know them a bit) jumped right in the material and passed out papers from her bags I was pretty confused why we needed to know the Irgun of fairytales. Anyways, I'm gonna take another class.
Long papers but only 4 throughout the quarter, 3 of the 4 paper could be revised for a better grade. She was fun and really into what she was talking about. All paper topics were interesting. I would recommend her class.
I love this class and Heidi really makes the class interesting with a variety of tops to read and write about. I highly recommend her!!
Super un organized, doesnt give papers back and if she has them graded you have to ask to see them. I think it was a waste of my time and money. We sat there and talked about nothing
Heidi is a great film teacher with a passion for the art. If you're interested in movies and know you can write a decent paper this is a very easy and enjoyable class, as you just watch movies and discuss. She takes a while to get papers back, which didn't matter to me. Her lectures are very interesting, with lots of fun discussion.
So much to say but so little I'm able to type. By far the WORST teacher I have ever taken. Don't take her if your able, you will regret taking her. My friend and I are taking her class and she makes it nearly impossible to get a good grade on ANYTHING, I leave her class upset, angry and frustrated. She will make you hate Cinema.
Heidi is an amazing English instructor. I loved her lectures. There are some reading assignments and essays to write. 3 out of 4 essays could be revised for a better grade. If you engage in class, you will easily pass it with an A.
Heidi is not a good professor. The class is extremely easy. She carries around all her course work from however many classes she is teaching in a little handbag. She loses homework and papers. She assigns readings but does not enforce. By the end of this quarter only 3-4 students in my class were actually doing the required readings.
She was pretty cool. Funny also. Mayeb about 5 papers, 4+ pages each. Not bad because she have you suggested topics but you could also choose. She had contests about like best title. I won 5 dollars cuz I had the best one. Her grading is on a 4 point scale which I believe is kinda best because you can get a 3 and get a B. I didn't need the txt book
I thought Heidi was an awesome teacher. She was very passionate about her class topics and graded fairly. Overall she was funny and laid back, I will be taking more of her classes!
Heidi Rich's Intro to Cinema is one of the best classes I have ever had. Heidi explains every aspect of her subject very well. She is super duper kind and nice. She will meet outside of class to help with essays, takes revisions on anything throughout the entire course at any time. Very easy and generous, highly recommend.
Heidi made her class very interesting with topics that inspired me to expand my writing! She is passionate and entertaining. I am planning on taking more classes with her in the future!
Heidi is amazing! Her lectures are interesting and she truly enjoys what she does. She is willing to go to big lengths to make sure you succeed and is very generous in helping. Massively recommend.
Heidi is probably the coolest person that I have ever met. She is extremely unique in a wonderful way. Much can be learned if one pays attention. She knows her stuff and then some. Heidi encourages students' opinions and is always considerate and respectful when hearing them. She's always eager to help and has tremendous patience. Great educator!!
Prof Rich holds exciting class discussions, assigns interesting in-class projects, and seems genuinely intrigued by everyone's paper topics. However, except for the automatic A on the final presentation, I had no idea what my grade was until I saw my transcript. Heidi's a fun professor, but her teaching style is for already confident writers.
Heidi is an amazing teacher! Her essays are fun, interesting, and she is very interested in what you write. My one bit of advice is to make an interesting headline for your essay;)
Heidi has her heart in the right place and isn't a bad teacher, but her disorganization and opinions get the better of her. I liked the content of her class and the way it was structured, but her teaching style just wasn't for me. She has a very outdated way of looking at film, lost papers, and would give test answers right before the tests.
Heidi is a great teacher for 101. She is interested in everyones writing. There are four papers and you have two weeks to write them. She is so sweet, but is a little unorganized.
Heidi was amazing! I had her for Intro to Cinema and I enjoyed her so much, I signed up for her English 101 class the following quarter. There are a total of four essays that she assigns, and she hands back the first three for you to make corrections if needed. She can be a little disorganized at times, but is very sweet and a passionate teacher.
Heidi is a very special lady. She's got a great sense of humor, but isn't afraid to get serious when she needs to. She gives good specific feedback on papers. She encourages class discussion and cares about what everybody has to say. This is both a blessing and a curse because sometimes it completely derails the class.
Dr. RichI (Thompson) in my day was a breathe of fresh air. I learned something every single day in her class. She is witty and fun, but commands respect. We had some pretty advanced and engaged students in most classes which really meant she could shine. After my first great experience I signed up for every class she offered and really enjoyed them
I took Heidi Rich's "Intro" to Mythology and it was not intro to anything. Most of the class discussions I couldn't understand or even participate in because I didn't understand the reading, or know who any of the characters were. She assigns 4 papers throughout the quarter and gives very little to no information on what to include in your paper.
Hard pass if you plan on taking mythology. The material is extremely hard to understand and she doesn't do much to explain it. She's very unorganized and gives random grades and doesn't give much feedback. The only class I've ever gotten below a B in. Multiple students tried to meet with her for feedback and she cancelled on us 3 weeks in a row.
An unorganized mess is the best way to sum things up. A majority of class felt improved instead of there being a clear lesson plan and I felt she had no control of the class. If you like organization and well though out lessons dont take this professor.
-she's really sweet and willing to help - is pretty down to earth -hilarious dark sense of humor -class has interesting dicussions
The first thing I noticed is her disorganization. Doesn't put grades on Canvas, hands stuff out late, falls behind in schedule, never remembers where she puts stuff. Lots of readings but no tests or quizzes, so idk how many people actually read them. 3 essays, you get to revise for full credit. She's sweet, knows her stuff and it's an easy A
Highly recommend her. Cares about her students and works with them to help them succeed.
Get ready to spend 3 hours getting talked at and learning nothing. Don't take this class expecting an introduction to mythology, because she just hops right into it. Stays focused on one topic for most of the class and for the most part it is useless, doesn't do much to help confusion, WILL NOT REPLY TO EMAILS OR CALLS.
Heidi is one of the best professors I have ever had! She really has helped me find my direction and love for English!! She is a fair grader with reasonable expectations. Would definitely recommend her after taking both English 101 and 102 with her.
Heidi is a great teacher! She's a bit disorganized and forgetful, but she more than makes up for it in giving very interesting lectures and reading material. I enjoyed writing every assignment I received! :) I recommend this class to more artsy people. She discussed the basics, but not a whole lot of attention was spent on technical stuff.
Took a couple of her literature classes; all were great. She's a bit disorganized, but if you're pretty English-keen already, the class will be easy. Chance to redo 3/4 of the papers you turn in, and the last paper is easiest to write. Really nice lady who is making her way through the world like the rest of us.
First thing that I noticed was how disorganized she was. She falls behind on grading papers and makes it harder to revise them with only having 10-11 weeks in the quarter. You're required to have the Rule's for Writers but we only used it a couple times and she would put it on the document camera so you could read.
Heidi Rich cares and is very caring that you understand the curriculum and gives you the best opportunity to succeed. I took her class 25 years after I graduated from high school. She brought me back up to speed and gave me the tools to succeed further with my English classes.
Heidi is a great teacher! She took the time to meet with me to revise my papers and explain more in depth on the grammar mistakes Ive made. One thing Ill say when taking this class is be sure to have the thesis really pointed out in the conclusion. Not copy and paste, but just reword it.
She was an awesome teacher! Very good feedback and lectures! Also very carrying!
I LOVED Heidi, she's such a gem. She knows a lot about different movies and books that I've never even heard about. She gets sidetracked sometimes, but she makes class interesting. Plus, only 4 papers for the entire term, and you get to revise them and turn them back in for a better grade. She does title contests for each too and you can win $5.
She doesn't really teach about English. The class consist of watching movies and reading handouts. You are only required to write 4 ( 4 page essays) in the term. She gets side tracked very easily.
Great teacher.
Loved her! Would definitely take her class again.
Love Heidi! She is a very caring teacher and has a passion for what she does 10/10 would recommend her. loved her class!
Profesor Heidi is funny. She is a little unorganized but after all she teaches well, she lets you writes essays again after she corrects them and gives full credit for it. Good class.
Heidi is a passionate teacher. Contribute to the class discussion (anything works). However, this was my first time falling asleep in a class, twice. It's lecture heavy and has a ton of confusing handouts. Gave me a B+ but bumped it to A- (should be A). She only assigns 3 essays (4-6 pgs), that you can revise, and one final (6+pgs). Overall easy.
Dr. Heidi Rich is a very sweet lady. She is fairly unorganized but in a very fun way, and shes very passionate about writing. My girlfriend and I took her for English 101 and she loved us. She gives great feedback on our papers and makes writing much more enjoyable. She also lets you redo any papers you did bad on. Very fun and easy class.
Heidi is truly a nice person and very sweet. This class is easy enough and informative if you attend regularly. However, sometimes its hard to pay attention in lecture, but also hard not to appear rude when youre not engaged in the material. If you already know how to write a good paper and can entertain yourself for a few hours, go for it.
For my first time back in school after more than 20 years, I feel very fortunate to have gotten Heidi! I do alright with grammar and punctuation, but she certainly polished me up. She loves what she teaches, and for that, her class was fun and interesting. Fantastic feedback on papers, and accepts re-submission of revised papers for a better grade.
She was very unorganized and often lost papers I would not recommend this professor if you like to keep track of your progress and get feed back on your exercises She does not collect or correct homework besides the papers that are due
She's really caring on helping everybody in the class with getting their papers done. Her knowledge is honestly very impressive, and she gives you so many different possibilities of one English term/concept. The only thing I really didn't like was that she talked a lot, but she recognizes that, and tries her best to let the class talk more.
She's very lecture heavy, no breaks in class even in a 2 hr. She goes over irrelevant topics and never showed up to her office hours. She took 4 weeks to hand back our first essay and her grading system is very odd. You will get tons of hand outs that are about 20 pages each and watch movies that go along with them. You're required to contribute.
I'm currently taking her class and I wanted to share my love for this prof. She isn't a tough grader at all and she has a certain respect for all her students. Her class is a little lecture heavy, but as long as you pay attention it's easy to succeed. Only assignments are essays, 2 week due dates and avg. 4 pages, double space. Fun class!
Here's the thing about Prof. Rich... She is very discombobulated. She forgets what we're discussing or she'll repeat something she already mentioned. If you are newly entering Eng 101 or have trouble with MLA format, grammar, etc., do not take her. She doesn't go over any of it. However, she is very caring and will answer questions! Best of luck!
She has an old soul, so her way of teaching is not as modern. She's very sweet, kind and really wants her students to succeed.
She is caring, honest, grade criteria is clear, and Inspires you do reach deep into yourself. I loved her energy, long class flew by. Will look forward to crossing her path in the future
Heidi is a great person, but not a very good teacher. Her directions are not clear, and you have to turn in assignments in person rather than online. She takes months to grade even though it is very easy to get an A in the class. Attendance was not mandatory, as the only assignments were four essays. Definitely take English online if you can.
Heidi's an accepting and funny professor. I saw some negative feedback and I was scared to take her class. The papers are easy (4 papers, 4-6 pages.) If you want to catch up your work you'll need to make an appointment in person. I went to her room to make up from a C+ to an A. This class isn't for everyone, but if it's for you, you'll ace it!
I think Dr. Rich is a gem. I received very specific feedback on my papers and subsequently improved the quality of my writing. She's very passionate. Yes, she could v use Canvas more but as long as you actually show up and pay attention even 75% of the time you should be squared away.
Dr. Rich is quite an interesting professor. She is a very eccentric, quirky lady. She doesn't really make the class feel like a college course. Actually-it's more like a book club. She is very passionate about the material & talks the entire class about it. My only complaint is that she is, and I can't stress this enough, PAINFULLY disorganized.
Heidi is sweet and knows a lot about what she does. However, she is really disorganized and hardly responds to emails. My biggest problem is she talks too much about politics and controversial issues that are unnecessary to discuss in class. I often felt really uncomfortable and hated coming to class because of it. Otherwise a good teacher.
