She is a cool person but a poor teacher. She is a fresh graduate and doesn't have a strong grasp of the concepts.
Didn't explain concepts too well. Math test were pretty easy.
I LOVED Sis. Eastman! She is such a fun and interesting teacher. I have hated math my whole life, but Sis. Eastman made it fun. Tons of the students in my class said that her class was their favorite. She is always available to help and really cares about you learning the concepts. The tests were easy and so was the hw.
She's very helpful!
it flowed nicely at the beginning of semester, but crashed like a train at the end. She didnt help much, and i couldnt understand concepts. as for me, i am the type who likes to have fun, but HATES homework. especially busy work, which is what it felt like the entire time. your choice! but i wont take her for calc again. Go with Goodwin ;) lol.
this was an easy class that i learned to like because it applies to the real world
Sis Eastman is no longer teaching. But I enjoyed her class. First of all, I hate math and thought I was going to do terrible. She uses blackboard for grades and allowes extra credit. We had one take-home test, and she let us retake it. Overall, her class was fair as long as you did your part.
easy to work with
Heidi was a great teacher. She cares and is involving! I made it through her class and I hate math! Too bad shes getter her masters!
I loved her! She was very helpful. She was willing to help us out on our homework questions if we were willing to stay after class or go see her in her office. At times it didn't seem like she was a teacher because she's so young and willing to talk with you. Awesome all around:)
Sister Eastman was an amazing teacher! She was so interested in the subject and has such a fun sense of humor. I absolutely loved this class! The content was fairly easy but if you didn't understand anything, she was totally there to help. I would definitely take another class from her!
AMAZING TEACHER! LOVED HER CLASS! very fair in grading. TAKER HER!!!
Really great teacher, I took this on a block and so the class was every day! But she made it really easy to understand!
Sister Eastman is the best math teacher on campus by far. If you're dreading math 110 you definately need to take it from her. Great teacher!
She is a great teacher, the class is good but the department tests suck and homework is not worth very much test is like 70% of your grade.
Great teacher. She makes it fun. Makes you participate in class and explains things so they are easily understood. Take Math 110 from her she is amazing.
She goes really fast and doesn't explain anything really.
This was probably my least favorite math class. Teacher is boring and seems not to really care. Homework is easy, but tests are ridiculous. Expect to have to work hard to pass this class.
Heidi, er, Sister Eastman is a wonderful teacher. She cares about the students. She cares about us being able to use math in practical, real-world situations. Sister Eastman was understanding with a couple late things and very willing to help and to explain math concepts with her students. Not super hard, just do the work and keep up to date.
i took the same course a year ago. she goes way to fast. sometimes i asked for help she would tell me to go to the math lab. i asked for her help after i had went to the math lab. it was very frustrating. I ended up calling someone for help and they were able to explain the material better over the phone then she could right in front of me.
i thought she would be a good teacher from the other ratings. but she is not good at teaching stats at all. i would not suggest taking her for your stats class
Hedi is sweet. good sense of humor and will help you with anything.
Please look for a different teacher if you signed up for her class. she is not a good teacher. Math was my favorite thing ever until i had her it made me question my major. she doesnt teach well at all. please save yourself some time and DONT PICK THIS TEACHER
Her first time teaching Stats 221, she did not do well. I got A's in 101 $ 110. I dropped her class (with an A) taking a W. She changes subjects and doesn't usually finish what she was explaining, explains things after the fact / test / quiz. Take home test's don't match her teaching style. Didnt manage Grade sys well, she faked our midterm grades!
I feel like i worked my butt off for nothing. She expected our class average on tests to be 50. What kind of teacher expects their students to fail? She's terrible and she doesn't care.
I heard that she's great for 100 level math classes but anything above 150 she's brutal. even the best students usually got b's in my STATS class
Got an A in her stats class. Yes class average was F for a few tests, but she made a way to make up for those points, and to learn why points were lost. Very laid back and not uptight. Teaches well but leaves learning up to the students. I loved her teaching style and would recommend her!
What a TERRIBLE teacher. She is mad at life and takes it out on her students. She's cold and doesn't care about helping you, only proving her point. I wouldn't recommend her if she were the last teacher on the face of the earth. NOT a good teacher.
Terrible teacher. She doesn't teach the students at all. We pretty much teach ourselves and have to get tutors and go to the math lab. She waste teaching time in class with the activities for kids that we already can do! duh! Everyone I have talked to in the class hates it and doesn't feel like she cares at all. Do not take her!!
Sister Eastman is a really good teacher. You do examples on the board the whole class, and she gets students to explain how they achieved the answer. So it's not only her teaching one way. It everyone teaching everyone many different ways. I highly recommend her for any math class! I hate math, and am not good at it what so ever. But she made
Sis. Eastman is the best math teacher I've ever had. She uses great examples and explains things very well. She's really chill besides.
Not personal, does not explain very well. Requires us to teach our selves from the book. Home work is ok, she doesn't assign much. Has students clumsily explain concepts in class. Over all bad teacher for anyone who struggles with math.
If you take a class from Sister Turner, you are basically taking a class from google. This class is very disorganized, and the teacher is not helpful at all.
HORRIBLE teach. she sat on thetable at the front of class every day all dy and expected students to teach eachother. she didnt exmplain anything and eas a VERY lazy teacher. normally we didnt get assigments back for about 3 weeks to a month, and she simply doesnt care about if we do well or not. DO NOT TAKE HER!
I thought this teacher was great. She has everyone do a problem on the board at the same time and she explains it really well. For a person who's bad at math, she's pretty good, but not very friendly. But it's not a big deal, she's cool :)
She's not friendly at all but a pretty good teacher. she cares about you but for some reason, she completely acts as if she doesn't. its weird! but she can teach!
Sis Turner did not explain anything ever. Once during a review for an exam, she told a student not to ask questions. Be ready to figure a lot out on your own if you take this class from her.
I am really enjoying her class, and I love her teaching style. It's very hands on, and I have never understood math so well. I think she is a great Math teacher, at least for my learning style.
I'm not good at math. with that said, the classes are pretty useless for me. She moves through the material too fast. She doesn't explain it well either. the class is unproductive and I feel like it's a waste of everyones time. I did not like the class. my roommates have taught me more math than her.
First off she does not teach at all. Class time is a waste. You will spend all your spare time on google trying to learn the math. She moves way too fast and does not explain anything. She acts like you should already know what she is supposed to teach you. I give her an F
Sister Turner is a great person, she can be hilarious. But her class is a bit difficult when trying to learn the material, take time to go to the math lab and even get a tutor so you can learn the material. Take her if you are a self motivated learner.
I really enjoyed sister Turner. I have never been good at math, ever. But since we have partners and do board work ourselves, it's a lot more effective when learning.
Very fun and nice. Young and has compassion on students. Understands how to help students learn. Always willing to help. Lots of homework, but if you do it you'll be fine. If you don't do the homework, well... there goes your grade. Tests are fairly easy.
I did not like her teaching style. she was not very helpful at all.
I really liked Sister Turner. She is funny while at the same time she gets down to business. I like her teaching style a lot and she is very nice.
I found this class to be very easy. There is a lot of course work, but it was pretty easy stuff, and I've never been good at math. Sister Turner will explain thoroughly if you ask her to, and she makes sure everyone is caught up and understands. Very funny and nice as well :)
Very funny, down-to-earth personality. She can relate to the class, and overall teaches a fun class.
Has low interest in the students, and does not teach. Just has students go to the board and struggle through problems on their own.
Sister Turner is a great person and funny at times as well. I do not like her teaching method or her interpretation of the learning plan at BYUI. You are expected to come to class knowing everything from the book you spend all of most classes at the chalkboard working through problems with a partner she does very little actual teaching.
great class. Pretty easy however it's annoying going to the board to do problems. It keeps you from taking notes and having example problems. Homework every night.
she is awesome i have taken a few classes from her. She was a great Calculus teacher and Math 108 teacher i recommend her to anyone
Sister Turner was a great teacher. She does move fast but I feel like she explains everything good. She helps by us by making us go to the board and working the problems so that we can have them explained to us.
She is way cool. She wants you to learn the material but realizes you are a student. I highly recommend her. Come to class and you will pass. Online homework is a slight buzzkill, but that is life. Do Excel projects they are big part of your grade and they are easy!
Homework every night and she does not know how to teach. She has the class get up all at once and do problems on the chalk board which does not help you learn whatsoever. Be ready to study hours and hours just to take tests with problems you've never seen before. AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
She does not teach. Simply that. She has students do problems from the text. She doesn't give notes maybe one problem from the whole section. She makes you feel stupid. If you have NOT taken Pre-Calc in high school do not take this from her. If you have taken pre-calc in High school then it shouldn't be that difficult.
she is a very laid back teacher, she's very nice and will help you if you ask her to, but in class, she doesn't teach too much. she just has people do problems that they learn from the book and then we talk about it.
Sister turner is really laid back and can be a huge pushover, however she is not clear at all in what she is teaching. Students will ask questions and she won't clearly answer them. Some of the study guides were helpful, but at times they would be misleading. Sister turner is a very nice person but is not a good teacher.
I though at first that this teacher was going to be amazing and that she was going be fun and easy. But now I'm just confused all the time and barley passing. She doesn't go over the example problems. She just has you go to the board and do it and you have to figure it out by your self. Hard Grader and not much help. But I love her spirit.
Sis. Turner's class is exceptionally easy, the math is not all that hard and the homework load is not particularly heavy. She is also quite lenient regarding late work, she even lets the class decide how to do homework grades. That being said she isn't all that great of a teacher. Overall easy A if you are good at math, if not take another class.
Honestly, everyone told me I wouldn't like this class, but I loved it. I think Sister Turner teaches simply and well. She is so good at relating to the student and dumbing things done. She has been one of my favorite teachers.
Tons of projects! Half the tests were tough! Overall it is an average grade.
This is a hard class if you don't read the night before and come prepared. Know how to do all the problems on the study guide, and ask her to make before every test. They really help. I liked that she sent us to the board to really make us think through the problems before being spoon fed how to do them. She drops and test and quiz at end of sem.
Sister Turner, goes to the board and expects us to teach each other. She is a very nice lady, but not a good teacher. She gives to much homework, more than is necessary. Her tests aren't as hard, but they are worth most of your grade.
She is a GREAT teacher! One of my favriotie teachers I've ever had! I never read the night before and still got an A. If you put in the time you will do well. I normally suck at math but she mad it so clear and simple! The first two or three weeks she gives a lot of HW but then it gets easier. Great for hands on students!
Sister Turner is a wonderful teacher - best math teacher I've had. She makes you go to the board all the time to answer problems. She's always willing to go over homework questions, and she holds homework days a lot to help you catch up. Highly recommend!
She is super chill and is flexible on when to turn homework in. In fact, she lets the class choose when they want homework to be due. I loved how she would go through the easier section fast and then take it slower on the harder sections.
I thought she was overall a great teacher. She teaches in a different way but I felt like I really learned because she's very hands on. She's reasonable, funny, smart, and caring. Also, even though our class was everyday she would normally give us one free day to catch up on homework or take a quiz.
Sister Turner is the best math teacher I've ever had! This is the second class I've taken from her and she is simply amazing at her job. She doesn't do traditional lectures, instead she has you learn by doing so participation and attendance really helps. Tests are difficult but manageable if you keep up on the homework and do the optional problems.
Sister Turner came in clutch during the last few weeks of the block. She is very fair in her grading. There were 3 tests, and she replaced our lowest test score with our highest one. She's a nice lady, but just has a no nonsense personality. Don't get offended by anything she says because she means well! Fast moving class, so go to math lab often.
Didn't have a lot of time outside of class to meet with you or help. If you come into this class and feel lost, switch classes or professors. She doesn't give a lot of explanation and expects a lot of homework and prep time outside of class hours.
She's good at telling you straight what the answers to the problems are and how you can figure them out. What you need to be concerned about are the tests: they are very difficult and count towards 60% of your final grade (or at least they did for me).
She teaches the material well and gives extremely helpful tips on how to master it and do well on the tests. Overall her tests are pretty easy and she doesn't give a ton of homework, but the homework she does give is very typical of what will be on her tests.
Sure, Sister Tuner has a Doctorate in Math. Yet she explains concepts as if she were teaching grade-schoolers. Sister Turner sure cares about her students. Sure, she has high expectations, but she is willing to help you succeed if you ask her for help. Sure, she has amazing lectures But would I recommend taking her class? Sure Thing!
literally the best. i have never been a math person, but she makes coming to class enjoyable. i have laughed so hard in her class. it is a pretty fast paced class &she'd start on the next lesson in the last 5 minutes of class, but it never really became too much for me to handle. coming to class isn't required, but i'd get lost if i didn't. love!
Sister Turner is like a mom to all of her students and cares so much about them. My class had about 60 kids in it, and she was able to keep our attention, and help anyone who asked a question.
She is an amazing teacher and will work with you so you can understand the material
The curriculum is a confusing, she doesn't teach the material. The assignments you do won't count for your grade. She is very indifferent to your success. I recommend getting a different exam.
Her teaching stye is very impromptu, and not good at all. seems like she put this class together last minute
Sister Turner is a very good teacher. She allows the students to decide which assignments to do on their own and which ones to work on together in class. She also allows the class to determine when things are due and when tests should be opened. She really listens to her students. She does expect you to come prepared to learn and to participate.
I honestly would not take her class again. We were always at least one class period ahead in powerpoint presentations. Participation in her class in very important. There are 4 exams and you can opt out of the last one. I didn't take the final point and she docked me a point, which happened to drop me to an A-. If you want an easy A, this isn't it
For MATH110x, she is extremely laid back and willing to help. She asks what days we want things to be due on and she will give extensions if you need it. Easy to get ahold of outside of class. She gives points on tests and projects even if you don't get the answer right. Go to the non-mandatory project periods with the TA and youdotheproject there!
Sister Turner is the best math teacher I've ever had! She is super chill but also is fast paced. She is willing to stop an help you if you tell her to slow down. Also she is a very hands on learner, so you do a LOT of work on the board and in groups and doesn't bore you with lectures. She teaches in fun ways. You will not find any teacher like her.
Sis Turner really cares about her students, she is so sweet and caring, however, I will say, you definitely need to know the material of the class before entering. her style is not so much as teaching but reviewing what you already know. If you struggle with math I suggest another teacher. Sid turner is great if you are confident in math.
Sis Turner is funny and she's a great professor. This class has a lot of work as it is 5 credits. you have to do your homework to pass. The tests are pretty easy. Definitely meet people in class to do the homework with. It will be immensly helpeful. Pay attention in class if you ant to learn and succeed.
This was the most confusing class I've been in. The material is easy, but I spent more time trying to figure out the layout and what assignments were due. Ridiculous amounts of assignments each day and occasionally more added on that night (like at 10:30pm). Her assignment keys are wrong more often than not. Frustrating, unclear, and disorganized
This teacher was horrible at teaching and lecturing. She doesn't give her students notes to write, she talks way too fast (even when you ask her to slow down), and on the exam, she has a written portion and a multiply choice portion so you can't take it all at once. Also, she makes us work on excel for projects which students do not need to do.
Sister Turner is an amazing professor! She worked with us to make sure we were really understanding the material, and is very understanding and patient. She wants you to be ready for upper classes and does a good job preparing you for them! Definitely would recommend her to anyone for any math class!
Sister Turner is the greatest math teacher I have ever had. I took a 5 credit class, but really only had a course load of 2 credits. She does teach quickly but is always willing to go back and re-explain if necessary. Get yourself a good group, do your homework, and you will get an A in her class no problem
VERY disorganized. It made the whole semester very frustrating to know what was due when and what was where. If you miss class at all, good luck knowing where the rest of the class is at because her canvas will not help you at all.
She doesn't Teach at all- she just goes through the powerpoints and then lets the students loose to learn on their own. She also asked my class if we were fine to not have class because we were too far ahead.. This is because she doesn't take the time to have to students really understand what they are learning in this Math for the REAL WORLD class
She is very clear with what she expects from the class, but is open to work with you. In class she has an amazing balance of teaching and then allowing students the opportunity to practice what they just learned on the board so they can get immediate feedback. The homework is pretty tough but it prepares you so the exams are super easy.
Sister Turner is very kind! She lets the class pick how heavy things are weighted so you have some control. It isn't a very hard class.
I actually took her calc 2 class so math 113. I felt very lost in the class and I felt like we were teacher her as much as us. I felt like I couldn't ask questions because she wouldn't know the answer. I really had to learn most topics on my own outside of class.
I love sister Turner, but I was not a compatible teacher for the way that I learn. If you learn via lectures do NOT take this class. Sister Turner is extremely knowledgeable and good at math. There is no rigidity to the class. There is a calendar, but the math itself is very flexible and that just doesn't work for me.
She's a great teacher! The class will take a lot of time (it is 4 credits), but she teaches it really well. There's lots of homework and it does take a while but it really helps you learn the concepts. You also work in small groups in class to do practice problems, and there's one day a week that's a work day. Absolutely would recommend her class!
She warns you that the first couple weeks are like drinking out of a fire hose. She was right, however, it felt more like the first month. Her system is different and takes getting used to, but eventually I could see how caring she is for her students. She provides many different ways to help you succeed. Communicate and she will work with you!
