She clearly has a passion for American history, and is not afraid to respectfully express her opinions on certain facets of the government as they come up in class. Lectures and textbook content do not always overlap; both have content that is tested on. She issues review sheets before every exam. Use them; exams very often mirror them closely.
This class was my very first in college and it was a great one. She is very knowledgeable on all things history. She goes over everything with you and even includes the history of her family and their role in history. Very educational class. Tests are easy as long as you go over the hand outs .
She's so kind she teaches well and also very understanding. I would love to take her class again. Winter session is not difficult with her. She gives the study guide out and helps a lot when there are questions
This professor is very passionate about American history, her study guides look very similar to her test, you should have no problem passing.
Super passionate about history. She gives out study guides before every test, use them the tests are very similar
Prof Vion was fantastic and I wish I had taken her for HIS 6. This class was extremely easy - show up, put a little effort in, & pay attention. The overall grade is made up of 8 things total, so to get a good grade you will have to do all of them. You can tell she is passionate for the subject, her class was never boring. Take this class !
Super easy class. The tests are easy, basically the same as the study guides. Test questions are based from both lectures and textbook so be sure to pay attention during lecture.
Excellent professor on this campus. I enjoyed her class because she explained her lesson plans very thoroughly and her lectures were entertaining. She's passionate about history that's for sure. It was easy to communicate with her via email. Make sure to do all of your work and study the study guides and you'll pass the class!
excellent professor!
Lovely professor that makes her lectures interesting. Just do your work and you will pass. Her study guides are almost exactly like her exams! Just one research paper.
Professor Vion is AMAZING!! Lectures are very clear, she also gives you a booklet which is a printout of all the slides. Her study guides are basically the test so be sure to study them. As long as you pay attention and study you should pass w. an A.
Great professor. Seems to be really passionate about history so if you like history you will definitly enjoy her class. Totally recommend taking her!
OKay so let me start off by saying that Mrs. Vion is such an amazing teacher. I took her for history 6 and she has been one of my favorite teachers so far. I highly recommend her class. She is very caring towards her students. she makes it very hard for u not to fail. She's the kind of teacher that stops whatever she is doing just hear you out. <3
Professor Vion is one of the most passionate teachers I've ever met! She loves history and it is very clear that she wants her students to succeed. Her class is easy and interesting. She is a fair grader and the final is open book.
Professor Vion is an awesome professor. I took her in the winter and it was a lot of work but if you get it all done you'll do fine. There's two group projects (one including a paper), two midterms (she drops the lowest), and the final. Be prepared to spend $90 for an access code and text book
Professor vion is a sweet lady and very sarcastic. Her lectures are heavy but her class is pretty clear.. no hw just one research paper and 2 exams and final..
She's very sweet & passionate about her job. She cares for her students. She passes out her powerpoints & as long as she sees the amount of time you put in on hmwk, you have a chance to pass her class. her tests are reasonable. there is group work in class. do her study guides. I would definitely take her again!
Professor Vion is an amazing professor is passionate bout history and helps you out so much for getting an A, hope i can take another class with her would definitely recommend if your not into history. Summer term was great
She is one of the best professors ive had. She is really passionate about teaching and she cares about her students.
Amazing teacher. Loves teaching and passionate about history. Would definitely take again for her history classes. Love her notes and tests are solid!
Took prof. Vion during summer. She is very passionate about history. Lecture heavy, tends to get off topic but really great professor. Willing to work with personal issues. I had family issues yet passed with the highest grade in the class. You are able to use study guide on exams. Study and you will pass. Great professor.
I took professor Vion this last Fall. The one thing that I would say, is be prepared for the online course work, that thing is not at all a walk in the park. She is lecture heavy, but that is because she is extremely passionate about her work. Show up on time, do your course work, study for your test, and you will pass this class.
Professor Vion is such a kind, caring person who is passionate about teaching history. She drops the lowest midterm score and lets students take their tests home. There are three midterm exams, including the final exam (which means it is both open-book and open-notes). Also, it has to be 270/409 points (66%) in order to earn full points on MindTap.
Had summer for HIS 7 and was very happy with her way of teaching and the class load. You do get homework on mind tap, if you love history you can literally just test out and finish them in a few nights. Her class is all lectures with a few videos/movies that you watch but are enjoyable. She does share some of her own point of views but is caring.
Professor Vion was amazing. I really learned a lot. I never thought history was that interesting, but she is very knowledgeable and made me want to take another class with her. She is caring and definitely wants everyone to do well, while actually learning the information. Highly Recommended!
Very helpful teacher. She is very approachable and want her students to succeed. I talked to her on how I struggling with writing research paper and she is willing to help me check over before turning it in on the due date.
I really enjoyed her class. There was never a dull moment, which most people would think of history classes. Her tests are 1/2 take home fill in the blank and second 1/2 in class multiple choice which means there should be no excuse to get lower than a 70% There is a group project towards the end of the semester so choose wisely
As someone who disliked history and politics growing up, Vion's class was very refreshing. Although a tad long, her lectures are a lot of fun as she makes them interesting and interactive. You'll have one group research paper, online work, three mid-terms (one you can drop) and a final. You get reviews that make the tests very easy. Bring a laptop!
Best History teacher at RCC. I always love history classes; as long as you are persistant and on top of everything you will pass not just a C- but an A. BEWARE ! She does have a loud voice when she lectures to keep the class awake Other than that great teacher hope to taker her again
Pretty great, clear grading. Lots of notes but her tests aren't too hard since she gives study guides
Ms Vion is a great and respectable teacher. She has a big heart, will only help you if you show initiative and that you care about the class. Very lenient in areas that most professors wouldnt be. Lectures and study guides go hand in hand with the test/exam material. Overall a great teacher, and an excellent learning experience.
I don't see what's the issue of her class. She makes it to the point were unless you are extremely lazy, then you will fail. Her test are 1/2 in class and 1/2 take home so there is a guarentee that you will get at least 60% on her test. The essays are take home so you can fix it until you are happy. NOTHING IS EASY YOU WANT AN "A" FOR FOR IT !!!!
Really enjoyed Professor Vion's class in HIs 7 over the winter. Bring your laptop you will need it, and take lots of notes. Do your reading and take notes! As well as putting tabs in your history book so you can go back to them quickly. She teaches history in a way I have never had an instructor teach, she makes it to where you understand it.
This class is easy do the hw online & do the study guide she gives u for the test and I will definitely pass. Her study guides are just like the test. TAKE HER.
Professor Vion is by far the BEST history teacher Ive taken at Norco. I dropped history 7 before because the professors werent passionate about teaching history like she is. She is awesome! She actually makes history fun and interesting. I wish I can take her over and over again! HIGHLY RECOMMEND !
Ms. Vion uses a lot visuals to teach history; which may sound childish for others; but I love it. Her test are 3 in class, one dropped and 1 open book final. Study guides are identical to the actual test !! Show her you care about the class and she will work with you to pass the class !!!
She's great and nice.
I personally didn't like her, only because after being at from 730am-9pm and she was my last class. She goes through her emails and talks for the first half of class, but you can't go on your phone and do hw or she kicks you out. Her lectures get very off topic, but the study guides are exactly like the test so it isn't too hard. Alot of online hw
She's an amazing professor. I took her for spring and she did amazing during the pandemic and moving to online. She got back to me in a reasonable time if I had any questions. Show up to meetings. Skim through the book. Study guide is exactly like tests. She goes off-topic during lecture a lot but overall, I recommend taking her if you can.
I had her for the spring. She was very accommodating especially with switching to online. She has office hours via zoom to help students if they understand any topics. She responds right away if you reach her through canvas or email. She explains hard topics as easily as possible. There is a couple of research papers, quizzes, exams, and online hw
Professor Vion has been absolutely amazing for both of my history courses (6and 7). She was always willing to help, available during this crazy pandemic and ensures the students really learn and understand history. There is a lot of work involved but that all pays off.
Great history professor. Offers a perfect blend of both straight forward history while also interjecting personal thoughts that not only pertains to the topic at hand but gives personal insight on these decisions that I myself my have never thought of. Lectures are fun and engaging and Professor Vion is very open and helpful to all of her students.
Took His-7 with Vion during the Summer online. Study guides were just like the exams. 2 midterms and one final. 2 papers + online work on Mindtap. Engaging lectures that are always on topic. Only about 2-3 hours of classwork a day. Do your study guides and be mindful of due dates and you'll pass with an A.
Im not very bright when it comes to history and this was also my first semester of college after being out for a few years so i was very skeptical on how id do but shes an amazing teacher, i did find the mindtap exercises a bit difficult but overall it was a great class, i have a lot respect for Professor Vion as a teacher and a person!
Best history teacher in Norco. I've never seen a history teacher this passionate and this open mind. Especially in college. She will help you only if you are persistent and care about this class. The only con side is her MindTap grading is kind of strange. But other than that best history teacher in college I got a 91% in her class !
Professor Vion is always willing to help her students, especially in office hours where it's one on one. She provides several resources in order to write a good paper and to be prepared for the test. Make sure to pay close attention to the lectures because she gives you test hints.
Vion is a really good teacher, on canvas she makes it pretty clear what is expected when, and I had a medical emergency where I could not take one of the midterms and she moved it back a day so I could take it. She is very understanding and as long as you do your work and communicate you'll do fine.
Great professor teaching a great course. There is 2 exams (one midterm and one final) with 2 chances given to take it. Also one 2-3 page group paper. You also have online homework activities that need to be submitted throughout the weeks. Lastly, there are quizzes with the corresponding lectures that she uploads, only like 4-5 questions.
I LOVE Prof. Vion! Such a great personality! I found myself laughing throughout lectures. I even found myself crying in her lecture about the role of dogs in World War I (She loves dogs, I can relate). She's a bit quirky & lets her opinions fly. A tough-love prof, but she REALLY cares. Even though class was online, I'll weirdly miss her. A++!
Professor Vion is great! I enjoyed her lectures and she made me laugh. Take good lecture notes! Be prepared for a lot of reading and homework. Two midterms, a group paper and a final exam. Her study guides are exactly what you can expect on the exams. LOTS of time given to take them. Put in the work and you'll do well. Don't be lazy!
If you're a dog-lover like she is, then this class can get pretty emotional. She is extremely passion about US History. As for the work. It's not hard, but as expected a typical hybrid class there's more work to do. So expect to budget time outside of work/school. Group project is the most time consuming assignment of all !!
Ms. Vion's lecture is fantastic. Everyday I am looking forward to listen history. As for work, it's a typical hybrid so working ahead is a must. No textbook needed at all (except for online work) but other than that. Great class
I took Professor Vion's class during the summer semester and it's an online class. All of the materials are online when I took her class. There's a lot of quizzes in this class, but they're easy. One on cengage and the other on canvas. The canvas quiz is related to the lectures, the quiz should be a little bit easy compared to the cengage quiz.
Grade is based off of your quiz and tests scores. Gives you more than enough time to do your work on time. Quizzes are based off of lectures on canvas, easy if you watch the lecture. Readings on cengage followed by tests. Always has a zoom meeting to join if you need help!
She's amazing! Her lectures are hilarious, but also very helpful for the exams. She would have office hour zooms multiple times a week. Very caring, she genuinely wants you to get an A+! I genuinely cannot recommend her class enough! I always hated history during high school, but she made me genuinely enjoy this class and subject! TAKE THIS CLASS!!
Professor Vion is a great professor. I recently took History 6 with Ms. Vion about three years ago. Right now, I am dropping her History 7 class during the spring term. Her class is not hard at all. It's just that some of the MindTap assignments were a bit difficult for me. I wouldn't complain too much about the level of difficulty in HIS-7 course.
I did take Professor Vion back in fall 2018 but had to withdrawal on the first day of class because it was too hard and the professor was not understanding of people's feelings and anxiety and the mind tip homework was just too hard and too much for me. No way I'm taking another class with her.
I was taking this class for a summer term, and it was horrible. She gave 30+ assignments and everything was due the same week and we had a week and a half to do it. She made us use a website mindtap that had all the assignment we had to do not including the ones that were on canvas.
This professor organized an online class that was immensely difficult. This is the hardest class I have every taken and I have never gotten worse grades in my life. There are SOO many assignments and every assignment took me 30-60 minutes because of how hard it was. There is no information online and the questions can not be found in the textbook.
I took HIS 6 with Professor Vion in the spring of 2019. I didn't like her class that much. She has been harsh on me ever since I have to buy the book that comes with an access code. I felt belittled for letting her hurt my feelings. At least I survived in her class and got a good grade. Oh, I have already dropped her HISTORY 7 course last semester.
I dropped her HIS-7 course last semester. I didn't like her class that much because it involves taking a lot of notes, especially trying to absorb the information to do well on the exams. Sadly, I bought $100 for the loose-leaf book that comes with an access code after I drop the class within the first two weeks of the semester. Would not recommend
Professor Vion is a great and caring professor. She provides all the materials for students to be successful. I really enjoyed her lecture because she has a lot of passion for history, and her teaching style makes history way more interesting and fun to learn. If you follow her instruction, you will get a good grade.
I have not taken a history course with a professor that found ways to keep lectures this genuinely entertaining while keeping up with the demanding pace a summer course requires. Ms. Vion was always very understanding of the fact that students have complex lives outside of school and always came off as someone who is in your corner!
If you're taking HIS6, listen to the 3 bad reviews below me. Just please listen. Whenever I asked her for help or information, her responses were always unclear. She assigned us into groups for a research paper and only one of the 5 members responded to work with me. The others were MIA. She provided no help and wasn't lenient at all.
Terrible group projects. Bad at talking.
Heidi Vion is absolutely the best Professor I have ever had. Her lectures are interesting and make you want to learn. Vion is also very clear on what to make sure you know for testing.
Had a ton of assignments and lectures. Used a website named cengage that you have to pay $85 to use. A ton of reading is required to complete. Questions and answers were all confusing. The professor provided little to no assistance.
You have to try very hard not to pass this class. Miss Vion provides all l lecture notes and takes the time to stop and re-explain material if you don't catch all of it. She gives study guides based on lecture that help tremendously on the tests. As long as you take good notes and study them, and pay attention in lecture. You WILL pass this class.
Ms. Vion will make you love history class. That's says a lot about her. I always look forward to her class everyday. Yes, it is a lot of work because it's hybrid course, but her instructions are super clear and is very patient with working with you. 10/10
Course difficult due to not knowing whether to use book, or not, or how to use the book at all or A lot of talk on religion even with it being a history class the class itself is difficult if you don't understand most flavors of Christianity called Native Americans "Indians" the entire time called black slaves, "the blacks"
very supportive teacher quick response good class I recommend her to everyone wanting to learn about Us history
If you read and apply yourself to doing the online work and tests. She gives more then enough times for a 5 question quiz at 30 mins each, and 2 attempts. As well as 2 attempts on the final and midterm. A full detailed study guide for both Mid-term and Final as well. It's worth waiting till another semester if she is already closed and waitlisted!
The class would be much easier if she actually worked with her students rather than just handing out assignments and sitting there doing nothing. Very lazy teacher, not to mention extremely rude. would NOT recommend.
Absolutely atrocious when it comes to your understanding of the course. My course was defined as "On Campus". I was required to attend class on campus. My intention to take classes on campus due to my inability to learn OL. This class represented nothing in relation to an on campus course. The course was made for you to fail if you did no OL work.
Her class is history and has a lot of information, I like the way she makes the lectures easier by lecturing while we can see her PowerPoints. Easier to take notes as she also gives us a printed copy of the slides. She gives us a study guide before midterm and final which really helps. She has small quizzes after every lecture that are pretty easy
Good professor and truly does care about her students. She assigns work on cengage and for her in class lectures and as long as you complete the work to the best of your abilities she'll work with you. Professor Vion allows multiple attempts on her online quizzes and lets her students to use their study guides for the mid-term and final.
The best prof to take History 6 with! Totally understanding and accommodating and wants everyone to do well! Read the textbooks and listen to her lectures if you want a good grade. The quizzes are straight forward and the midterm and final were both online. One group project that she took her time explaining so it wasn't difficult.
Took her class in fall of 2023. She assigns work and has you purchase the textbook on cengage. She curved the grade on cengage at the end of the semester so i ended up with an A. Lets you use study guide on the quizzes. Only thing that stressed my out was an essay/paper and a presentation with a group. Other than that good teacher that cares.
For the midterm and final she gives a study guide with all of the questions that will be on the test and allows us to use it during the exam. There is a review game the class before the exam (that could grant you extra credit) and we go over the majority of questions on the study guide. There is a group research paper with a presentation.
genuinely the easiest A of all time. all she does is lecture (which can be pretty boring) and the exams are literally free if you do the study guide. you are selling if you don't take his-6 and his-7 with her. also a very good person
Professor Vion is swift to respond when you have a question which is a plus. Class is doable but very heavy with interactive assignments and quizzes. Do the study guides before hand and you will guarantee pass the tests, 2 attempts on the quizzes. My only complaint is the group project. I guess if you don't want to grade as many papers ...
Great professor overall. At first was concerned reading the syllabus as I had missed the first week of classes in the short semester due to illness, but she was very accommodating and offered to allow assignments to be made up. My biggest concern was the group project as each person gets graded for the overall assignment instead of their parts
i took her for his 7 and currently for his 6, easiest class ever, if you don't take her his 7 and 6 you are fumbling an easy A. study guides are actually useful in this class. her course is straight forward and she explains everything in depth. the only thing that i don't like is the group projects but at the same time no one likes group projects.
Took this class in the winter time, the pace was kind of fast, but it was fine. You aren't required to do much studying, and she lets you use your notes on the final. As long as you write down notes, you will be fine.
Very entertaining lectures. She's super knowledgable and keeps you engaged at all times. Grade is based off of a lot of things and my only complaint is having to do a group essay/project.
Great professor. Extremely knowledgeable which made her class fascinating and enjoyable. Including her personal/family life experiences really brought lectures to life, such as homesteading, Clifton's Cafe and her mother receiving a letter from Robert Kennedy's campaign manager two days after his June 6 assassination.
Fascinating lectures, very easy grader, quizzes, tests and online assignments make up most of your grade. Only bad part was the group project, which was a 10 page paper and a presentation.
Had her class back in Summer 2024, easy enough class, usual midterm and final, but also a group presentation at the end of the semester. I was lucky enough to have to go to a funeral when that was due, so I was able to dodge that.
I would not have taken this professor if I knew how rude she was and degrading . She treated me like a barnyard sheep. Did not call me by my name but always addressed me as hey u. She demanded homework on the first day of class . I am a single mom who battles with MS and I work 2 jobs book was a bit pricey esp for it being online .
First history class that didn't make me drowsy, she knows how to keep the class engaged. One of the easiest classes I took. She's also pretty funny too, so that's a plus.
