This was a challenging course, but the professor is always willing to offer help when needed. A lot of writing is required
This teacher was ridiculous and unreasonable.
Information Behaviors. I'm pretty sure he keeps deleting reviews, how vain. Anyways, he isn't a very good professor, he grades fairly, but gives you no useful feedback as to what he wants out of an assignment. Also, there are two 5-page papers worth only 5% each, and a useless project worth 45% Almost makes you not want to do the papers.
TERRIBLE professor. He gives 6 days to do an assignment, then proceeds to NAG the entire class THREE DAYS BEFORE the deadlines. His english is very poor and offers no feedback on assignment grading. AVOID!!!
Terrible professor. Would not recommend. Rude, condescending and unclear on expectations.
Dr. Haubitz clearly states what the assignments/papers are and when they are do. If you turn your work in early he will pre-grade as well. This class has a significant amount of writing. Many of the assignments are posting/responding to discussions in a forum. He is constantly sending out reminders. You will not find many instructors to do that.
Simply not too difficult if you follow him and his reminders online. Not so many profs do this these days, i.e., taking an interest in the learning outcomes online. Would recommend him if you are in for a lot of writing and a challenging class. Overall I liked it though online is challenging.
IB is a graduate level course so Dr. Haubitz holds everybody to high writing standards. This class is not difficult if you put forth a little effort in completing the assignments and turn them in on time. From personal experience I do know he gives feedback and will assist you if you are having issues with an assignment.
His assignments are unclear and based on whether or not you used contractions and not on the content of the paper. His assignments are boring and require a lot of analyzing and rewriting the textbook content. I would avoid him if possible!
Information and Social Media was my 3rd course with Dr. Haubitz. I found all the courses very engaging and relevant. I have noticed that some students do not like him, but most of the complaints I have heard arise from laziness on the student's part. Dr. Haubitz does not go easy on slackers and he grades very fairly. You get the grade you earn.
I have taken two classes with Professor Haubitz ( IA and IB) and honestly, those courses helped me during my final semesters(Capstone and Communication for IT Prof.)... Yes, he requires a lot of writing but it's achievable.. I would not recommend taking more than one class that he teaches per semester though..That's where I messed up. Work Overload
I have now taken BOTH IA and IB from professor Haubitz, and made A's in both of his classes. He is very condescending and will deduct huge points if he doesn't get it or if there are any grammatical errors. He is clearly a graduate prof. teaching under grads. Not horrible, but I wouldn't recommend him to anyone.
I would recommend that you avoid his class at all costs! It is required for my major, but he is condescending and rude and is unwilling to help when emailed. I hate this class.
Hard on writing assignments but helpful overall.
I do not recommend this professor. He does not stick to his assignment requirements, he makes changes constantly, he is interested more in the layout of your paper and projects rather than if you learned the objective or not. He reduced our group project grade because of the quality of the recording.
Remarkably unhelpful. Extremely unclear about expectations. Proceeds to nag the class to complete assignments days before they are due. This will annoy you to your core.
To get the basics out of the way, yes his classes are hard. With that out of the way, Haubitz is tough but fair. He grades based on your participation and quality of your papers. When he is hounding you in emails, it's because he's trying to ensure that you are fully participating in the discussion board. He is also very responsive to emails.
If all possible I would seek to take the class with a different professor. He is rude and condescending. He has no respect towards his students and could careless if they learn the material as long as their grammar and papers are written professionally
I had an excellent experience with this class and Professor Haubitz. His excitement for the subject matter is contagious. He really makes you work, but in the end it is worth the effort.
I am really happy that I took his class. Prof. Haubitz is very enthusiastic and goes the extra mile (unlike some other profs at this school). Would recommend him if you want to learn something. He is tough at times but always fair. You basically get what you deserve. Do all the assignments and you should be fine. Good experience overall anyway.
He is a gem overall. Very open also to special needs. Thanks Dr. Learned a lot in your course. Thanks.
Without a doubt the rudest professor I have ever experienced in the 4 years I've been at USF. He is extremely unclear with instructions and if a student needs help, he responds condescendingly. Avoid his class if you can. It's not worth it.
Very cool prof. You really get what you deserve. Very fair guy though sometimes hard with grading, Learned a lot from him. Wished there would be more like this prof at the school. Simply cool and he helped me a lot to improve my grade always before things were due. Just great.
Avoid this class at all costs! By far, the MOST RUDE professor I've ever had. Please do your self a favor and do not register for this course with him.
Great class. Wouldn't have learned such a big deal about the subject otherwise. He is really cool.
Great class and why do I have to do this again? He doesn't use ant textbook and that saves all of us a big deal.
This professor is very rude. He does not follow his own due dates and repeatedly sends out announcements stating what are we really doing. This professor is unnecessarily aggressive to his students and lacks any compassion.
Took an online class with him. Extremely rude and aggressive. I tried apologizing for a potential miscommunication only to receive several more angry emails in succession. Expects responses from emails within the hour. Expects degrees of progress in assignments from students prior to the due date without any prior notification to the students.
This professor is extremely rude and unprofessional. When a small mistake was made, I was met with hostility and felt like I was being berated instead of helped. The class itself is easy, but he is extremely unhelpful and expects you to have assignments done way ahead of time - If you don't he harasses you with emails until the assignment is done.
Do everything that you can to avoid this professor! The course will be easy, but putting up with this man is a challenge on its own. Want feedback for an assignment? How about a nice dose of condescending trash talk instead. I have experienced Grad students that handle courses better than this professor. Avoid at all costs.
Prof. gets a bad rep for being overbearing. Sends lots of emails and reminders to try to be active in an online environment. Can be a tough grader. Grades easier if you apply his comments in future. German language barrier makes emails sound harsher than they are meant. Best to meet in person to learn how nice he really is. Very knowledgeable!
Dr. Haubitz gets a bad rap for being mean when in reality he just isn't afraid to tell you if you've done something poorly. Most students are used to putting forth a meager effort and being coddled by professors. He's nice, helpful and grades fairly. If you're a serious student looking to actually learn something, ignore the negative reviews.
Dr. Haubitz isn't afraid to tell you if you've done something poorly and tries to help students with the assignments. He is helpful and will email a lot to make sure he is thorough. His thoroughness helps a lot with assignments and project work. If you do take his class, just be prepared to actually try on your assignments. Great professor overall!
I've taken 3 courses with Dr. Haubitz while at USF, and have enjoyed each one. His courses can be challenging at times, because he can be pretty demanding. But in the end it is definitely worth it because you will learn a lot in his courses. Also go to his office hours to meet with him in person, he is really helpful and is a funny guy! 22
I have taken two classes with Dr. Haubitz. He is a fair grader and he gives really good feedback. If you read his comments and apply them to future work, then you will do just fine in his classes. Make sure to read the assigned materials. He really wants students to succeed. I haven't met him in person, but I've heard he's a really nice guy.
Dr. Haubitz presents a challenging environment that is more rigorous than most other professors I've had experience with at USF. For those who don't mind working for their grades, you will be rewarded. If your looking for an easy A, he's not the guy,
Sweet and big help compared to where I am in my other courses. Thanks Professor. I adore you.
By far, one of the worst professors I've ever had and that is saying something. It's frustrating because I can't even drop this class. ( it will ruin my plans for graduation). This professor is not very clear with his instructions. He wants students to complete assignments way ahead of the due date or else he will start taking MAJOR points off.
This professor is obsessed with APA formatting. He assigns work without clear expectations. He will write very nasty emails to you regarding small mistakes that he feels you are making. Beware.
He assigned two essays without clear instructions and graded both essays very harshly. If you turn it in early he will sometimes pregrade it and allow you to resubmit.
Thanks for a great semester Dr. H. I really needed all that quick feedback and not many profs do this in online classes.
Great intro to new services. At the beginning I thought I knew everything about social media. I was absolutely wrong. Great class if you follow instructions and do not mind to read the material.
Very demanding, very hard to understand some assignments. Sends confrontational emails frequently.
He is crazy about APA. He basically spells out exactly what he wants in his 2 essays and if you stray from what he wants he will give you a bad grade. He has a certain idea of what he want assignments to look like but doesn't know how to ask for it the first time. Does not hesitate to share what he thinks and will constantly send you rude emails.
This was my 3rd class with Dr. Haubitz. There's no textbook for this class, but he does expect you to actually readwatch the assigned materials and do the work. I think the people who give him bad reviews just don't know how to follow instructions. He may seem a little rough but he's actually very helpful, especially if you turn in work early.
Follow his instructions and you will really learn a lot in his class. Not right if you are lazy. He is quite knowledgeable and a good source also for career advice. I wished I could take another course with him but I took the course as an elective. The prof is really there for you provided you show an interest in the subject. Great communicator!!
I never have any idea what he's talking about. He's very rude and extremely condescending, hostile and unhelpful. Small mistakes are confronted with "what are you doing?" or "did you not learn anything at all?" Some of the emails I receive from him, I truly can't believe. A lot of his emails miss words or are fragmented. Not sure if he's all there.
He's just straight up rude. I understand professors like their assignments a certain way, to make their life easier grading them, but this guy just does not budge on anything. He wants his instructions followed to the letter; and that means not more not less. You think you'll impress him by doing more work, don't, he'll deduct points for that too.
Meet him. He is actually pushing you to greatness if you follow his thorough feedback. Not for slackers. He is also well respected in the field and a great resource if you are into it. Read his instructions carefully in particular at the beginning of the semester. I learned a lot.
I can't even begin to write down all of my complaints about Haubitz. I'm doing fine in the class, but as a senior graduating this semester, I have never felt so disrespected in my entire college career. He treats you like you're small. Might be a communication barrier that is misunderstood via his constant rude and nagging emails.
Definitely one of the hardest professors I have ever taken. Not helpful or understanding at all I hope I never have to take one of his classes again!
Thanks Prof. I had a great experience although I had to learn that I did not know much about many of the social media out there. Will definitely use many of the ones you introduced in future. Wished I would have known about social bookmarks before because this could have made projects in other classes easier. You're tough but fair. Thanks.
Information Architecture is a challenging course at USF. This is not an easy class and you should expect to produce quality assignments. This class will prepare you for a career in information architecture, UX or Web design.
He's very rude, very poor written communication skills. He will treat you like you're dumb, and yell at you via email (literally puts 2-3 exclamation points). He also gets upset if you don't turn in work early. Even if it's turned in by the due date, he'll harp on you. As long as you do the work and ignore his condescending comments you'll pass.
Instructions aren't clear, rude and very insulting, very strict with APA format.
He is very helpful. I feel that I definitely learned a lot though this was my second online class only. Dr. H. cares a lot and tells you quickly if something isn't as expected or if you missed instructions. It's up to you but you should definitely make all the suggested improvements before the deadline if you expect an A. Communication seems king.
I took Dr Haibitz online and have had him for more than 1 class so I have gotten to know him, he is one of the best professors when it comes to communication, always replies and never ignores you. As long as you do the work and follow instructions then you will do good, don't expect to not do anything but also don't expect to skate by.
One of the best profs I had during my studies at USF. He is one of the few who really cares about students' progress and I really learned so much from him. I completely disagree with others here who are just bashing. That should not happen and it should not appear here because Dr. Haubitz is truly one of the best that the university has.
Dr Haubitz is a great teacher that will go out of his way and tak to you all day if you need it, I have had him for 4 classes and taking again, and I had to miss time due to a wedding and he was accepting and supportive.
Some comments on here almost made me not register for his class. I ended up taking his class and I am glad I did. Yes, he is strict and likes his assignements submitted in a certain way, but he usually emails you notifying you that you did not follow intructions and gives you time to fix it and resubmit it. If you are in college to learn, take him.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!!! By far the worst I've had in 3 years at USF. He's very rude, provides vague directions for papers and takes APA format way too seriously. He has unrealistic expectations for his students and grades very harsh. Homework assignments are not bad but there is no textbook so whatever he says goes. I had to sweat for a C
Great guy and I will take him again because he really cares about students success.
Very good Prof. He is careful and provides good feedback. Read his comments because they allow you to become better in future assignments. Heavy on APA style though but that was overall a good experience. Highly recommended if you are in the learning mood. Do not take him if you're not. He wants you to earn a high grade. He will help you with that.
APA Format that is not used in real world applications is put a huge emphasis on. Splits up due dates to make things more complicated than needed. Comes across very rude. When paying for the college experience you expect it to be challenging but you expect that you will still have a good experience. If you are able to avoid this one I would.
Ready for rude and somewhat sexist professor, here you go. This professor is arrogant and pompous and most importantly down right rude. This class is supposed to be for tech minded degrees yet the course work that is done in this class is papers that APA better be known front and back to have a prayer of passing this one.
Obsessed with APA and speaks to his students as if they are children. He is a harsh grader and even though he provides long lists of dos and don'ts he will deduct points for other things that he personally doesn't agree with. His feedback and criticism is rude and rarely has anything positive to say. Avoid him if you can.
More worried about format then content. Try to go above and beyond don't if it is not exactly what he asked for you will regret it. Good luck with his hints instead of answers. Google it is an reasonable response from a teacher who your paying a lot of money to??? AVOID THIS MAN!!! Rude, unhelpful and arduous on a good day.
Too many complaints I will condense it into words, rude, unhelpful, demanding, inflexible, unclear on instructions and due dates and everything in between, poorly organized, taxing, stressful semester you will have if you take this class. Over-complicated just from lack of information, GROUP PROJECT play violin now... IF you have him good luck.
He is among the top worse professors at USF. I would tell anyone that is having to take his class get your work done early, be prepared to redo it , don't expect niceness from him. You have be given information that may be helpful to mustering up a C in his class, yes it is that difficult to get a C if you are used to A's let it go with this class.
Somewhat tough but a great learning experience and absolutely great feedback. If you want to learn from a knowledgeable person in the area of IA take him. Very knowledgeable and nice if you talk to him in person.
Great professor overall but make sure that you submit assignments early so that you can get prompt feedback and make corrections if necessary. His style is a little bit unusual at USF but good once you understood it. I would recommend him if you want to learn. Avoid his courses otherwise. He helped me a lot.
Not at all what you expect from a professor. Rude and overly picky on everything. "Re-Do" becomes a regular part of your semester and fat chance you are going to get it correct with limited instructions from the very start.
This was a new class. It relates to what I'd like to do with my career in future. I wished everyone in the course would have been from the IS major because it supplements a lot of material we didn't go over in other courses. There was unfortunately a student in this small class who made it difficult to carry out projects successfully. Thanks Prof!
Most beneficial course I have taken during my 4 years at USF. He really makes it worth and though we had our ups and downs he provided me with the best and most beneficial learning experience at USF. I would highly recommend his Social Media course to everyone at USF.
Overall this was one of the best courses I have ever taken at USF during the last 4 years because It made me do what I have wanted to do for a long time. Thanks DFr. Haubitz. You are so nice.
Every comment on here that explains how bad it is , is accurate and to the point of what to expect with this man.
This is by far the worst professor I have encountered. I have never been made to feel so dumb and left struggling to figure out what he wants as he does not even seem to know. I think that this man may be in fact crazy!!! The struggle is real in any of his classes from talking with other students.
This professor needs to be out of the teaching field. He is better suited for updating the APA rule book that he so cherishes. He is as others stated rude and unhelpful. This class was made difficult because of it being a challenge to work with him he is not there for the student but for the paycheck.
Horrible professor!
Great course. Thanks Prof. I would not have made the grade I received and learned so much in a Summer course if it would not have been for all your help and extra time you put in. Thanks. Great experience.
Learned a lot. He's funny. Go to his office hours.
Solid class with hands-on exercises.
Cares about learning and very helpful.
helpful prof
