For someone who loves literature, she has the passion & is good for realstudents
BORING!! She's horrible!! Very condescending and an unfair grader.
She's a teacher for real students not for lazy bums
Kinda creates a distance between her and the students, cuz she's knowitall.
True she distances herself, but challenging. Her class has been very fulfilling.
Try to avoid her
Write your papers on her opinion, do not include your own. Then you will get an

She wrote the book, dont question it or off with you
Class is based on her own opinion, dont try to share your own

she's not that bad/ always late to class so instead 2 hr come out to 1.5 or less
sarcastic comments..but if u can get past her personality she doeshelp ur writin
She is the rudest and most inconcederate person in PACE
omg, she is like a dictator.
she likes to hear herself talk and she thinks shes a goddess

it's a class, you have to work hard. deal with it.
attacks comments with criticism, condescending, thus discouraging participation
If you like your GPA, skipp this class. Good luck if u have no choice like me
Very intelligent, she IS well intentioned. Brutal grader, but improves writing
Very hard, extremely opinionated,u will work VERY hard to get an A
You get away with not reading the books as long as you pay attention in class
way too much reading, & harsh grader
Great class for girls! A lot of reading! As for the professor: tough grader, otherwise great professor! Lenient, helpful and very nice.
bad grader, doesnt have any sympathy, dont know how she got her phd, must have bought it on the black market, she cant teach all she does is dictate and makes u buy the book. harsh grader, never take her for anything
hard grader, but if you love a challenge take her. will improve writing, and is intellectual. don't take her if you want an easy A. you will have to work hard for the A, but rewarding.
She's not bad at all. Interesting discussions. Ok Grading. But its not a easy A - thats true
Grades hard if she doesnt like you. Not horrible, but i wouldnt recommend if you cant get along with her. She is always late for class.
hard class! she told me i would get an A if came to talk to her outside of class, and i did, and i was her best student in the class....what did i get? a B+! screwed up my GPA big time. comes late everyday, and very unfriendly.
Everyone compalins about her bc they're lazy. Honestly, I took her twice in a row, love her insights, very understanding and sweet (she's really helped me out), she does come late to class. she grades a little tough but ALWAYS offers rewrites. EASY!
late every day, can't seem to get her information together, can't seem to put any of our assignments online when she says she will or grade stuff when she says she will...overall, horrible professor
She is very strict, and doesnt teach. All she does is regurgitate the books. You dont have to read the books, just listen to her bull****. Who puts their own works in a book they published? How conceited is that!!!
I started off HATING her but towards the end of the semester I realized that if you voice your opinion, the class isn't too bad. Kind of a strict grader. You just have to write to cater to her opinions and speak in class and you'll be fine.
dont complain she is a great teacher way better than the crap faculty that exists at the school
uuuuugh...if you want to sit trough 3 ours of constsnt bagering of opinions other then her own you have fun...never again ...never again
yo whoever says this teacher is good is the biggest D.A ever...she is the worst....never never neverrrrrrrrrrrrr
ALWAYS LATE! makes you read like 12 books in a semester. Hard grader. Would never take her again
Always late for class, butchers your papers, doesn't allow for opinions other than her own. Learn from your mistakes and feed her, her own opinions and you'll be fine.
She's a typical literature teacher, vague in her interpretation of literature, vague in her helpfulness towards you, she's alright though
good teacher. everyone who complained are most likely freshmen who probably expected highschool english. she respects your opinions as long as you can back them up. strict on grading maybe but learn how to write and stop complaining
She sucks, is boring and horrible; it is her opinion only and anyone who DOES like her is into that "male-hater" "feminist crap" she spews.....
This professor is great for those students that like to engage themselves in discussion, and enjoy analyzing literature. Basically if you're looking for an easy no-brainer, don't take this prof. She's really good if you like to read.
as long as you know how to talk, youre fine.do the reading, discuss in class, take notes, write a paper or two,and you have a good grade.shes very insightful and open minded, will always listen to your opinion if you can back it up [which is the intelligent thing to do anyway..its college people]
i think shes really good..shes very intelligent and will help you when needed..especially when your having trouble saying what you think or writing what you think..shes good like that..i enjoy her class
very nice, positive attitude, great help, willing to explain anything you dont understand. easy to talk to. love
Hard paper grader. Midterms are a little tough.
She's a nice woman, very passionate about the class discussions. Very tough on grading her papers, but is looking for an overall improvement rather than an average for the semester.
Just do your reading and you will do well, she is a pretty easy grader. But if you hate to read then don't take her (or any Lit class for that matter) The books she gives to read are really interesting, but she is fast paced, so you have to keep up.
i took two of her classes. that pretty much says it all. do the readings, they are interesting and make class much more fun.
Take almost anyone else. Ostentatious beyond belief. If you arent stroking her ego by agreeing with her views that are in the textbook assigned to the class then you havnt a chance in hell --think about it-- Why would I lie???
the teacher has been doing this class for years it seems, she is a nice lady, but if u feel like typing 7-10 papers each time(and there are 4)about poetry that even spark notes cant help you with then good luck.HARD GRADER!!!LIKEs her own persepctives!should agree with her or else!the class is 3hours
Makes you buy 9 books for the semester. Horrible grader. Regret ever taking her!
boring, huge ego, no opionions but her own...is always late...she does this on purpose and she really really needs a man....bitter old hag
I regret taking her class. Frequently "corrects" what people say, only to reiterate the same concepts using "fancier" words. Grades harshly as students are expected to conform to her preference of style in writing and to agree with her opinions. Repulsively pompous and superficial.
she gives great books to read and her tests and midterms are usually easy. Papers she can be tough but she looks for improvement more than anything when it comes to grades. This is college and she has a masters and a doctorate - she knows more than snotty know-it-all kids. Shut up and give her a chance and you might (gasp) LEARN SOMETHING!!!
prof. keating is my savior, i love her and will do anything for her.she is quite the hottie too!! oh man, i just read another one of her works, my Last Duke, she is too cool man.i want to let everyone know that she is the best out there!!!!!!
she is very intelligent. i like her, she knows what she is talking about. don't be intimidated.
She is always late, yet when other students are late she always calls them on it. She is a really harsh grader, and even when you rewrite your work, she will only pull your grade up half a point or so. She is a really spart professor but not clear on expectations. Not my favorite! Would never take her again!
Be prepared to do a lot of reading, I had to buy 9 books for this class, and towards the end we were assigned to read a book a week. It's more of a discussion class, so make sure you read. All in all, her class is a lot of work, but you learn, and she's a decent grader- she lets you re-do papers.
love this woman.
She's always late...when she arrives to class she's always in a bad mood. Very unfair grader...she's extremely critical on writing assignments. If you want an A...don't take her class.
She will NOT answer emails or help you in any way. She's mean and way too critical.
I really like this Professor! She is understanding, and always answered my questions. She is really interested in her students writing, and I thought she was very useful with her comments and feedback. I would love to take her again. She wasn't ever late when I was there, and would always stick around to answer questions. She also brought pizza!
Inspirational professor. Gets you interested and helps you to understand in your own way. A lot of work, but it pays in the end. I got a solid grade, and found in her a mentor. Wonderful experience. Amazing professor/person. She won't be nice to you if you slack off or try to take advantage. Is that really such a horrible thing?
At first I was intimidated by this class (Creative Writing: Fiction), but she really makes the room a comfortable place to put your writing out there. She is really helpful, really knowledgeable, and really inspiring. I would love to take her again. She's really chill and truly wants her students to learn.
AVOID HER!!!!! She is always late, extremely critical and never responds to e-mails. If you want an A, do not take her, she does not give out A's. Really strict grader.
I've taking Dr. Levine-Keating a number of times. She is worth taking. If you put the effort in, you will be rewarded.
She is a very good prof. and knows what she is talking about. If you are prepared to learn and do lots of work def take her. You'll learn a lot.
i had this teacher. i told her i was gonna be a poet and a college english professor. she told me i had not suffered enough. i have suffered plenty...helene please remove the curse...oh yeah..PS...i am a poet and professor.
I have Levine-Keating in "The Holocaust and Modern Genocides" Learning Community. She is helpful, but her interpretations of the literary material we read seems a little vague and too similar in context. There always seems to be something I found interesting or importantin a reading that she fails to hit upon, which is sometimes discouraging
totally obnoxious professor, all she wants to do is talk and hear own voice.changes rules everyday attendance counts but its taken one day and not next day.unorganized and really spews out too much nonsense in class.very biased views. total waste of money.
I feel like all the below comments are Levine-Keating trying to make you believe she's some great teacher. I'll tell you something. English is my passion and was going to be my major, until I took her. She really killed it for me. If you don't want a professor who chooses favorites off the bat and holds grudges against others, don't take her class.
This teacher is the worst Lit teacher ever. She is a harsh grader, she makes you read 9 novels a semester and her class is mostly her, talking to herself about how great she thinks the books are. Totally useless and hard, not to mention she is really pretentious. Avoid her, seriously, it's a lot of homework for nothing, waste of time and money.
She's really not a good teacher at all. Gives TONS of assignments but never actually graded any of them and gave us bad grades when she did, for no reason. then she tried to correct our final papers and ALL her corrections are spelled wrong. doesnt care about her students. its annoying when you try hard and she gives you bad grades for no reason.
dis buk look green n blue yah no yeah. OK seriously that is my English after this class. AND I'M A SENIOR!!!!!!
Levine-Keating is the epitome of incompetence. She's full of herself to say the least, and obsessed to say the most. She is the perfect example of "Having a Doctorate does not make you a Teacher." She fails to understand styles that differ from hers, and doesn't comprehend the simplest of writing concepts. It would be wise to avoid Dr. Divine Ego.
I grew to enjoy her more than I thought I would. I'm not sure I could tolerate her if she wasn't teaching with another professor who balanced her out well. She loves literature and thus takes its analysis very seriously. She nit-picks about grammar in papers, so her comments are more critical than helpful.
horrible. one of the worst teachers i have ever had. she is late to every class, never hands assignments back on time. her opinion is the only right one. she never responds to emails, and wont answer questions if you try to talk to her after class.
I had her for The Holocaust and Modern Genocides. She had us read this book called Austerlitz. Single best novel I have ever written. I do not particularly know where everyone else is getting their impression from, but I must say that my experience was pleasant enough. She expects papers to be written well, which some just cannot accomplish.
BEST teacher ever. Had her for Creative Writing Poetry. She can seem a bit uninterested but that is not the case. She really helps and simply knows her stuff. The one on one meetings are great because she really understands and helps you with your work. Amazing professor. Dont take this class if you dont have a passion for writing.
Great professor, gives lots of helpful feedback on writing. The class itself takes a lot of work: reading at least two short stories and writing 3-4 pages of creative writing (prompt-based) per week. Class is discussion-based, so don't take if you are insecure about your writing or don't want peer feedback.
As long as you do the work you'll pass. She gives a lot of homework, you don't have to do it all, just the things she'll grade. You have to do a blackboard post, a writing assignment, and a reading assignment each week. It's a lot of work, but it's not hard, and if you do it you'll get an A. Attendance is ABSOLUTELY mandatory, or she'll fail you.
Dr. Keating is a good enough professor but assigns way too much work. Especially this semester being in a pandemic, and was not very flexible with deadlines or adjusting assignments. We also had a 3 hour zoom every week for class, that was mostly just her talking, which was exhausting to sit through. She also required cameras on the entire time.
Professor Levine Keating was great and very clear with her expectations. It is a very writing-heavy course so be prepared for that but if you like writing then go for it. She is kind but not afraid to be honest if inconvenienced during the course such as submitting late work or having missed requirements in the assignments. I would take her again
