Classical Social Theory is a tough class, but Dr Dosik is a great prof. She gives several assignments per semester (most of them short) so that she can give you a fair grade on your overall performance.

The class isn't easy, but the material is interesting, so studying isn't as painful. She knows her stuff. Welcomed feedback from students on issues discussed in class. Definitely recommended.

She is a little scattered sometimes but she is fair and willing to work with students with special needs or schedules. She doesn't take breaks though but she lets you out early. Just pay attention to the lectures and take notes and all should be fine.

okay, i don't know what those other people who gave her bad comments were thinking because she is an excellent professor. she really knows her stuff and her lectures keep you interested. you do have to work for a good grade and if that makes her a bad professor than you should get the hell out of college b/c you're just being a lazy ass.

She's very nice and likes her students to participate. Her tests are multiple choice, short answer and definitions with your own words-no matching so you better know the stuff pretty well. Everything is on her notes and movies so take a recorder or good notes. Fairly easy class. She takes role.

Great professor. Not easy but a lot is learned. Willing to provide assistance if unclear about something. She is laid back and has a great sense of humor. She knows her stuff and gets it across with clarity. Exams are fairly easy, just take notes, study, and read the material and a good grade is achievable. Friendly and helpful.

EXCELLENT! She's very helpful and friendly. Gp to class and participate, and she'll love you. You don't have to talk all the time though. She is clear and makes theory very easy to understand. I liked her, did the work, and did well in her class. You will too if you do the work. Not too much work.

Professor Dosik definately knows her stuff. There is no getting anything by her. Tough teacher, interesting class, nice lady. But read the book and write down her notes and you'll get a B. Peace out peoples.

Extremely nice, intelligent woman. Very approachable, and her lectures are energetic and often funny. 3 tests and a few short (1-4 pg) papers. No study guides, but tests come straight from lecture, so go to class and you'll do fine. Textbook is hardly used, if used at all. Loves class discussion and participation. HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I will admitt she is hard. tests are all eassays and definition, about 5 small papers and extra credit. i did not try my very best and still got a "C". she is clear in her lectures, TAKE GOOD NOTES. if ur hand hurts from writting then you have taken good notes. fun and interesting class. And she lets you know what is on the test.

I was not fond of this woman! She was rude and talked to use as if we were a bunch of dummies. B word to the T! Her first test is hard but the rest are easy b/c you pick up on her style. Material is GREAT. Wish I would have taken this course with someone else.

Great Professor. very nice but VERY meticulous! Several papers (but they help you) LONG exams (2hr exams for a 50 min class)If you come to class, take great notes and study the way SHE suggests, you can do well in the class. I learned sooo much from her!

She's a very nice lady and an okay teacher. She just expects A LOT of you and is a very hard grader. We had the clss once a week and she never gave us a break and only let us out 10 minutes early. I think if I had her in smaller doses, I would have done better. She is helpful though and does not want her students to do badly. She's okay.

she is a very nice women but one of the hardest teachers that i have ever taken. she demands alot of you and is a VERY INTENSE HARD grader. she doesn't give ANY breaks on tests which are HARD as hell!! you must take GOOD notes and read the material after she goes over it on your own. assigns LOTS of papers!! SHE WILL HELP YOU IF YOU ASK FOR IT!!!

Do not buy the textbook! She gives you everything you need during lecture to pass the tests and fully understand the concepts. She is such a great teacher and really cares about her profession!

I can't believe people are whining about presentations, tests, and papers. WELCOME TO COLLEGE, DILLWEED! Prof. Dosik does what she does quite well. You will LEARN. You will take tests, write papers, and do a presentation. It is not an unusual amound of work. Don't let lazy people scare you away from an awesome class.

very straight forward on her expectations. Tests are a little difficult but she gives you a study guide that if used really helps. You must go to class to get all of the vocab words for the tests

Her tests are pretty difficult. All essays. She is very nice and is willing to explain herself more if she is unclear. I am still confused about her grading.....she never really makes her grading system clear. You do learn a lot in her class compared to other theory professors. I took her for 368 and 468 and did pretty well in both.

Very traditional style teacher. Class is mostly based on lecture, good note taking is a must. Tests were all written tests, but she grades fairly and there is extra credit. If you show up, take good notes, and study your notes for the test, you will do well. Lots of short papers (one or two a week). Prof. was personable, wasn't too boring.

Prof. Dosik is a very good teacher, yes she may be a little tough in her grading, but she always gives you a chance to make up for that grade, and she gives extra credit assignments by the way; which are very helpful and beneficial. Her lectures are interesting, but be prepare to take notes and just do what she asks and you'll be fine.

she's great! very clear and very helpful. 1 group project, 2 papers on a good book, and 3 tests. i learned a lot, and if you go to class you don't need the text book.

She was great-- highly recommended!! Her lectures are extremely helpful and if you come to class everyday, it shouldn't be hard. 3 essay exams and 6 short papers. The book is also very helpful. Seminar has a few papers and a group project. She is very helpful and makes the material interesting. However, you must stay up with the readings!

I LOVE HER!! She made me like the subject. Shes so nice and tries to help you out as much as she can. Just go to class and takes notes. there are alot of little one page papers but they are easy. and a group project. Test are all essay format.

Very smart teacher. Lots of experience in the field. Hard grader. You'll be okay if you take notes (especially the stuff she writes on the board) and do the assignments. Handwritten tests, so no guessing answers.

She writes her info in chalk, doesn't power point you to sleep. Speaks of the classical theorist as if they were best friend. All essay exams, very helpful and will tell you what it be like academically.

She's a very nice professor. She is a hard grader and her exams are all written essays and short answers. The exams are difficult so make sure you do well on the other assignments. Make sure to take very good notes because you will need them. She does give out a review prior to each exam.

The exams are all written but she grades fair and gives out a study guide. I understand social theory so much thanks to her. You really learn in her class and she is really knowledgeable. Shes the best for a theory class!

haha I think I know the person who wrote that previous comment. Prof. Gives you a lot to study for test and a few assignments. She could be harsh at times but she's okay I guess. Just write everything she writes and that's whats going to be on the test

Dr. Dosik's class is pretty easy. I NEVER read the textbook, NEVER read the readers and I managed to get an A on both midterms and final. Her tests consist of memorization. As long as you take good notes, and cram before the exams, your good. The course did get boring a times, but shes a great professor! she allows you to rewrite any assignment!!

She is a great professor. Attendance is mandatory. Everything she writes on the board is on her tests. The only reading you have to do is a book that you have the entire semester to read and a reader that she gives you. Her tests are exactly her lecture and the class is pretty interesting. I got an A easily. *She likes a lot of detail on her tests.

I really enjoyed prof Dosik's class. She is hard professor and expects a lot out of her students, and sometimes she may be unclear as to what she wants. However, she is extremelly helpful and willing to take time with you if you need extra help. In the end, it's worth taking this subject with her because you learn a lot of quality info from her!

Prof. Dosik is wonderful. You HAVE TO read the chapters and type notes in order to pass the tests, which are all essay format. Type notes during her lectures and whatever she writes on the board WILL be on the test. She offers tons of help/XC and gives good tips to do well. I got an A but I earned it by keeping up w/all the work and reading

I took this class as kind of a last resort, but I ended up loving it. She is a great professor, I enjoy her as a person, and I learned a lot. Her tests are hard, but she gives you endless opportunities to raise your grade through extra credit and resubmitting work. Introduce yourself, and go to class.

Lots of reading, writing, and e.c. opportunities. TALK TO HER IF YOU HAVE TROUBLE, she will help! I learned so much from this class. Loved it, would def take again. Exams are all your-choice essays. To do well on them, answer how the event is important in context to the class. Heavy workload but she's VERY knowledgeable.

Great, Intelligent professor

She is very sweet and knows what she is teaching but her exams are very challenging and she is a very very tough grader. It would be so much better if she gave out study guides for her exams One good thing is she allows students to re write their writing assignments if you don't get a good grade over all she is good

Dr. Dosik really knows her material, but overall I think she grades unfairly. I did all of my assignments, bombed my first exam but did well on the last two and I still ended up with a C. Definitely a hard grader but I will say whenever her students need help she will stay after class and accommodate to your schedule.

Clarifies assignments, gives extra credit, flexible. She's great, I've taken her for Soc. 440, Sociology of the Aging and Soc. 468, Theory and Seminar. You don't show up, you don't learn. Its that simple. You want an "A" do the work...

I don't understand why people say she's horrible. She's really great and clear about what she talks about. Don't understand something? She'll gladly walk you through it until you will. She cares too much about those falling behind, but she is not lenient with her grading. She makes you work for your grade. Exams are tough, and she warns you.

Extremely intelligent! I honestly learned a lot from her class... everything is so intriguing. So i was extremely dissapointed to find out that i got a D in her class after i did all the assignments and all the extra credit assignments.

She is clear and her lectures are interesting. She gives you good information and everything that she says will most likely be on the test.

We had 7 quizzes, the final is a final quiz which was super helpful. Really good material and it's interesting as well. You show up you pretty much pass.

Don't skip class, write good notes! speak up in the class and you should be good to go.

This professor is a quality professor. You don't see much of these. She's passionate about her teaching and really wants EVERYONE to learn. Even those who don't want to, she wants to uplift those at the bottom and have them pass. It's an interesting class, and she will be there for you 100%. She's not easy, but she doesn't make things impossible.

If you take good notes, you won't need the book. Tests are summary based, relate terms or theory to how it relates to aging. 1 Group presentation, based on presenting a summary of a scholarly journal and critiquing it. She seemed to enjoy the ones on successful aging. Get points by critiquing journals presented. Other minor papers. Easy class.

Professor Dosik seems scary at first but she has been one of my favorite teachers. Tests are all written exams with plenty of material but if you study you'll be fine. There's even extra credit on every test. If you need help go ahead and ask her. She always asks students to come to her when they need help. Definitely take her, it was worth it.

Some of these reviews scared me before I took her but she's one of the best professors in Sociology! Textbook isn't necessary so don't buy the book but you do need the reader. Gives tons of Extra Cred. A decent amount of HW & writing. She lets you redo HW if you do poorly! 1 group assignment with random partners was the only bad part. TAKE HER! :)

SOC. 202 was a breeze with Dr. Dosik. This lady knows her stuff! The class isn't too hard. Exams correlate with her notes so attendance matters. Throughout the course, it's about 5 quizzes, a book review (Nickel & Dimed) & group work assignments. Dr. Dosik is very thorough & makes the material sound easier in her own words.

Dr. Dosik is an amazing! She expects a lot from her students and makes you work for your grade by simply assigning small work throughout the semester. Her exams are almost impossible to not get an A on, plus she slightly curves. You just MUST go to class every day because she does not post notes. Study the lectures and you will be fine.

I love Dr. Dosik. Ive taken two classes with her and I plan on taking more. She is very down to earth and cares about her students success. You can talk to her about anything, she gives great advice. Be present in class, take notes, study for the exams and youll be good. She gives extra credit opportunities & lots of points to bring up your grade!

She is very knowledgeable in the topic. Class lectures were interesting. You have to attend lecture and take good detailed notes in order to pass the exams. Exams require a lot of writing but if you attend lecture you will pass. She is very helpful during office hours and offers extra credit for students that need to boost their grade.
