She wants to help you if you need help. But it's not like you'll need that much help because the class is too easy.

Helen is awesome. If you don't understand something she will help you out. She is also aware of how exspensive textbooks are and puts the item on Reserve at the library or tells you which book you really need and which you don't.

i had her for thoery and methods and both classes were awesome. she is so wonderful and helpful and makes things easy to understand. you won't have to study much, not cuz tests are super easy, but because she is so good you totally understood the info the day she lectured on it. she is easy to approach too, al around the best!

She is a really sweet professor and I was really pleased. She gives a detailed outline on the board; then she gives a study guide; then she tests EXACTLY on the study guide material that you obtain from the notes on the board. Never have to buy the book EVER. Most of her students get As cuz there is no guessing but you still learn.

Professor Potts is awesome!!! She gets students actively involved in class participations and she makes learning quite interesting.

Nice funny lady. Writes lectures on the board. Not necessary to attend class. HOWEVER, on review days she writes notes in order that they will be on the exams. Study those and you'll pretty much pass the exams as well as the class. If I knew this before I would have got an A. I got a B but its an easy class

Loved this class, loved the professor! Attendance wasn't mandatory but I still went everyday just because the class is so interesting. Her tests are easy and she offered little bits of extra credit so that always helps. I totally recommend her.

She is one of the best teachers I have had ever. She is SO helpful. She has a partially online course with quizzes every week, a flash mob is a major grade, she gives you the answers to tests word for word, her tests are online at home (use notes). TAKE HER!!!

INCREDIBLY EASY ONLINE COURSE! All you have to do is put a little bit of effort and you will pass with flying colors. Didn't see the professor at all but if you need the help, she will help you anyway she can.

Urban Sociology- 2 textbooks and various articles. Multiple quizzes, all can be repeated until making a 100. Class split into 2 sections, first half over book 1, second half over book 2. Read the material, do the quizzes and you'll pass. 2 page paper required over book 1 but its very easy.

Great professor. I like how she breaks up the classes where one day is a lecture and the next is all group work. Very fair also!

She is such a sweet lady and definitely keeps your interest in the class. Her lectures are pretty vague so you have to actually read a lot; however, quizzes are all online and so are the tests. I would take this class if you are up to actually doing some reading and not depending on lectures.

I enjoyed this class. The books were interesting. The syllabus and requirements are very reasonable. I highly recommend this class and professor.

Anyone talking bad about Ms. Potts either didn't want to do their work or just doesn't like her. She was very bubbly, always on time and made the class fun with her little quips and jokes everyday. Studying is a must but she is always fair in her grading. TAKE NO OTHER INTRO SOCIOLOGY COURSE. This is a guaranteed A if you show up and study.

She is really good. I made a 89 and she didnt curve my grade up to an A which pissed me off but other than that she is good and it was an easy GPA BOOST/

Dr. Potts was willing to work with me when I messed up. All I had to do was admit that it was completely my fault and I was going to do whatever it took to fix my mistake. Lectures are very clear and are interactive. Attendance isn't taken, but go anyway. I haven't opened the book at all because her lectures and reviews cover everything.

Clear cut syllabus. Just do the readings and take the quizzes and test. Pretty self explanatory.

I'm a Sociology major, so maybe I'm a little biased, but Professor Potts is hilarious and sweet. She makes a point to try to connect with the people in class. It's hard NOT to pass. You don't HAVE to go to her lectures as the majority of her work is online, but it's really helpful on the quizzes and exams. By the end of August, you'll WANT to go.

I personally found Mrs. Potts to be extremely qualified in teaching this course. She's AWESOME. Just make sure to READ your textbook when taking quizzes and test.

One of the funnier and nicer professors you could get. She does make it a bit hard to approach her for questions but I really did love her. This was one of the classes I would look forward to going to. Tests are fairly hard but if you study, you're fine, just make sure to get the work done early for the papers so she can look um over.

A really fun class. Material was easy to understand. There was group work and even a flash mob project. There was some reflection papers to write, but were graded easily. Practically gives tests answers in class via clicker questions. Quizzes and tests were taken online.

Lectures were always interesting. Attendance is not mandatory but gave one pop quiz in class. There are quizzes for every chapter but gives you the opportunity to retake them. All exams are online. The textbook is helpful.

Must read the books. I didn't care for the first one, but I loved the second book. Read it in a day. The first test was hard, but the second one was easier. The quizzes you can take till you make a 100 on. They're nothing to worry about. You have to write a 2 page paper relating to the first book. Overall, I'd say I recommend this class. Made an A+

Basically, you have to try to fail. Dr. Potts is awesome and a very helpful prof. My biggest pet peeve with online classes is that some take forever to email back but she is very quick to reply! This is my second class i took with her and would def take her again!

Youll will be required to read and then take a weekly quiz. The weekly quiz is 10 questions in 10 mins. The only real writing you have to do are two reflection papers. I kind of got lazy toward the end and skip one reflection and a few assignments and still managed a B. Midterm and final are pretty easy

She is an extremely funny person and definitely brightens the attitude of the class. The class is self is also pretty interesting, even if you do not agree with everything being taught.

Tests and quizzes online, you get two attempts on quizzes. Reading the chapters is essential to a good grade, 2 essays though out the semester and a single pop quiz, class was a lot of work. Professor is extremely funny and i enjoyed the class.

I took this course over the spring semester online. Because it is an online class you have to be responsible that the work gets done on time, but she paces things with reasonable time. If you don't pass this class it will only be because you didn't make an effort to do the work. The work is interesting and engaging, you just have to do it.

Lovely prof, funny, smart + witty. got 5 EC pts for her knowing my name. Essays were easy and i was able to google all the quiz answers. Got an A in the class and barely cracked open the txtbk. Very humorous so if you participate she will like you. Attendence non-mandatory but encouraged.

Some exam questions can be found on quizlet, but some come from book and PP slides. Pretty easy class that I took over the summer. Not too time demanding. Had to write a couple papers, but the material is all there. Easy A if you put forth effort.

Honestly no complaints, she's funny, sarcastic, and her class is relatively easy. It's not a hard class, passing was easy.

This was my favorite class for my freshman year. Very easy but very thought provoking. I learned a lot and even changed my minor to sociology! Dr. Potts is funny and easy-going.

really great professor. you don't even have to show up to class you just have to take the notes. gives great reviews before the exam. theres 2 essays and a quizes after every chapter and thats about it. she only has 3 really easy exams .plus she's very understanding if you talk to her.

It's hard to believe I took a 3000 level class with her! Super easy, there is no reason to not pass. There are 4 modules due each month consisting of 4-5 three question quizzes, and one exam. 2/4 modules had an essay assignment which was only 2 pages long and sooo easy. Super glad I took her!

I took this in wintermester and finished the class in a day. its a self pace class which was awesome cuz i didn't want to spend xmas or newyears doing class work. 2 exams and 9 quizzes. You need to download this lockdown browser so you cant cheat but its not too complicated. I mean I did it all in one day. It took me all day though.

You will need to read the textbook for the exams because she doesn't teach word for word from the book. Pay attention and ask questions when you need to. If you want extra credit then she usually will give opportunities for it. She is a really good prof and it isn't hard to get on her good side if you pay attention.

Really nice professor. She gives you what you need in lectures, but if you don't show up, read the textbook for sure. All the graded material such as chapter quizzes, 3 exams (including the final) , and two essays are all online. You will most likely need the lock down browser though. Super easy class love her.

Dr. Potts is a good professor and is extremely knowledgeable so I want to make it clear that my issue with this class has nothing to do with her, but rather the format. This is pretty much an online class. You can attend lectures which she holds Monday and Wednesday, and Friday is for online work. The online work itself is boring and repetitive.

Dr. Potts is super knowledgable on this subject and keeps class light and easy. Come into class for lectures and take the quizzes outside of class. Honestly, save your money and just rely on the in class lectures rather than the textbook, but the book does provide helpful additional information for quizzes. She is nice and funny, would take again.

Dr. Potts is a great prof! This is one of the easiest online classes I have taken. The syllabus is clear, with the class divided up into three sections. Each section is open for a long time so you can work at your own pace. Just quizzes, four assignments (with one optional for extra credit), and a midterm and a final. Everything is super easy!

Ms. Potts was such a sweet and funny teacher, as long as you went to class and took notes you get an A. She also gave my class fridays to do all the online assignments so we only had MW.

I took an online summer class for professor Potts and she is amazing! She sets up the class with an open timeline so its genuinely impossible to not have time to put your all in her assignments, and posts really thorough summaries of the textbook chapters so many of us didnt even have to buy the textbook. I would definitely recommend!!

Dr. Potts was truly a great prof. She made lectures not boring by adding humor and opening up the floor so that it wasn't always just her talking. You can get by without the textbook, I did, but a lot of the quiz questions & some from the test are strictly from the textbook.

SUPER easy class. All quiz / test questions are available on quizlet so easy A there. Other assignments are pretty straightforward and easy but take a bit more time. The trade off is that she doesnt have many assignments. I think she doesnt want to create more work for herself which is good for people who want the same. EASY A. Take the class!

Finding a "real" online course for online students has become a difficult task for truly online learners. This class was a breath of fresh air. Lots of reading and plenty of assignments, but you work on it at your own pace. There are three due dates throughout the semester, but don't fall behind. My favorite course this semester.

I'm a CJ major with a minor Social Science, so sociology is a major part of my studies. Potts is a wonderful professor. For an upper-level online course, she provides many opportunities to learn and ask questions. Yes, you will have to read a lot but that's sociology and college in general. I have multiple more of her classes planned.

Dr. Potts has very few assignments. One is a lengthy paper but you have 2 months to complete it. I don't recommend waiting until the last minute on that. All test and quizzes are open book so that's a plus. I highly recommend Potts for SOCI 4340.

Helen Pott's ratings here are split between multiple classes, so some discretion is advised. She gave us access to all of the presentations and quizzes from the start of the semester. You can complete the entire class within the first week if you feel like it, but you'd be missing out on some of the most enjoyable classes you can have at UNT.

I loved Ms.Potts! She was super funny and I enjoyed going to her class. Attendance is not mandatory and the quizzes and tests weren't too difficult. I recommend her if you need a social behavioral science credit!!

I enjoy the fact that attendance was not mandatory. All of her assignments were pretty easy if you read the book and pay attention. She is patient when you have questions and I enjoyed her lectures. Her tests are a bit difficult, but it's open notes and book. You would have to try hard to fail this class.

Professor Potts is overall a good professor. Attendance wasn't mandatory. Pretty much the entire class is chapter quizzes, but you can work ahead and they're pretty easy if you read the textbook. You can finish this class in a few weeks if you really try. 2 essays, not difficult at all and she was pretty easy on the grading.

Class itself wasn't all that interesting to me but she made the most of what she could. She's clearly very well-versed in the subject and was always able to answer most questions. Just review the slides and you'll do good on the exams, the only other grades are a few quizzes and two writing assignments which were extremely simple.

She is a good professor! I took her course on Spring 2023! She offered lecture materials and readings enough to perform well in our exams. Additionally, we had writing assignments, which was doable. Although, one writing assignment was tough, but she helped us understand what our tasks were. Her class is worth taking and very interesting!

Dr. Potts is a great lecturer and knows how to keep the class engaged. She's funny and offers extra credit opportunities if you go to class. You definitely will need to buy the textbook, but other than that the class is pretty easy.

I would 100% recommend this professor, just make sure to stay on top of you're assignments and you'll do well. She's also very funny and makes lectures fun. Very easy A+.

Her Wintermester course is great! You just have to have everything turned in by the last day of the semester which gives lots of flexibility. There's only 9 quizzes and 2 tests and they're all very straight-forward, so she must have changed that after the previous reviews. I had no issues and wish I could take all my courses like this!

Dr. Potts is a very funny professor, she often teaches through humor and irony. Her class is very engaging and at some points a lot of fun. I learned a lot in her course. Her class material/work load was a bit much at some times, but not terrible at all. Overall, she is a solid professor and I would recommend her for sociology.

Doctor Potts was an awesome professor, she made class funny and was great at telling if we were struggling to stay awake. The book is extremely important to the course, but I would recommend getting the online version as it is sometimes hard to read. The content is easy but the tests are HARD.
