teacher sucks. dont take
Excellent example of an English teacher. Great resources and teaching strategies. I would take all my reading courses with her.
Very nice lady. Has lots of projects but she is very clear and they are so easy. Take her class.
Professor Robbins is a fantastic professor who truly enjoys her profession! This particular class has required a great deal of time and effort however, she is extremely knowledgeable and helpful, definitely take her!
She is a great teacher. Easy class just follow the directions given for every assignment. Tests are not difficult. Got an A in her class and taking her again next semester. GREAT TEACHER!
Obviously a very knowledgable individual but has a very "Figure it out yourself" attitude. I thought we were there to learn from her. I got an A but not without a struggle. Very wishy washy with instructions. Unclear. Not good to combine with lots of other classes.

I have taken her three times, this is my third and the two previous times I got an A in her class. She is not easy, but she explains things very well, she is super helpful and you will learn a lot of useful things in her class (unlike most education course
Even though she gives a bunch of assignments they are rather easy and worthwhile. Although, if u don't enjoy lectures- this part will kill the class for you.
Great teacher. A lot of work, a lot of notes. Boring at times, but i learned a lot. i would definitely take her again. Be prepared of a lot of work, but she's very clear of her expectations.
She is nice and knows her stuff.the assignments are spread out so u have time to do them. The class itself could be boring but she is ok.do your assignemnts how she says and study youll be fine.
This professor is super nice and very understanding plus the fact that she knows very well what she teaching. the assignments are spread out so u have time to do them. The only bad thing is that at times she could be boring but she is ok.just follow directions and you'll do fine
Very sweet professor. she is very nice and helpful. There are lots of assignments in RED4150 and it's very important that you go to class and take GOOD notes on how she wants you to do things. otherwise, you will not do very well, especially on lesson plans. if you pay close attention to what she wants it is not too hard. i got an A in both classes
Prof. Robbins is an awesome professor. If you have any questions, she's there to help you. Like others have said, you have to listen to her instructions in order to do well. If you do, then you'll be fine.
Super nice lady. Class involves lots of work but if you listen to her directions, you can't go wrong.
Tough grader but she is super nice. If you have any doubts or questions ask her! This class is very time consuming and requires a lot of hard work and dedication!
Had Robbins for 1,2,&4. She is specific with directions.Follow them exactly and you will get a good grade. In the 4th reading, keep up with the reflections, save all of your work because you'll need it again for the case study.Turn in your lesson plans on time. The last two assignments, the unit plan & case study take long time to complete dont wait.
Robbins is a very good teacher and fair. She is a easy professor to approach if you have any questions. It is a lot of work in her class but as long as you turn them on time and do a good job you will ldo okay in the class. She is a really good teacher.
A lot of work! tough grader but she is fair. Follow her instructions on the syllabus down to every last detail (she'll subtract points for little insignificant things). Come to class, she takes attendance everyday.
She is great!! Very clear on her instructions, willing to help you with anything. A lot of work, but not hard.
Avoid taking her class. Difficult, very picky. Midterm and final are difficult. With hard work- expect a C or B- at the most
WORST teacher ever! avoid at all costs! wayyy toooo picky! extremely rude and can never explain why she gave you a bad grade!
If you taker her be prepared to do a lot of work. I took her for RED 3313 also and both were not hard but A LOT of work. Attendance is mandatory. She takes off points after one class missed. She is a good teacher though. Knows her stuff. If you do everything exactly how she tells you to you will do fine. I got a B the 1st time and expecting a B now
This class requires a lot of work. You have to be prepared to work hard. She explains everything clear. If you do what she wants, you will be O.K. She is extremelly helpful if you stop by her office. She is there to help you. (not to common in the educ depart.) I took two reading courses with her in which I learned a lot.
Don't take her!!! She's a tough grader! you put alot of work into your lessons and they still come back all marked up. Attendance is a must!!! DOn't be Late either!! There are other professors that are much better. DON'T TAKE HER!!!
she is rude!!!!!!! i don't think she should be aloud to teach. DROP HER!!!!!!!!!!
She is a bad teacher!!!!! I was told by students from her past semesters to avoid her and i didn't listen. AVOID HER CLASS AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!
I do not know how people could give her a good rating, she is harrible. i am going to take the class again with another teacher because i got a D, and i've NEVER gotten a D before. dont take her!!!
I call her "Robbins Roulette." She seems nice at the beginning of the semester, and that's what gets you! She's extremely inconsistent in her grading, attitude, and expectations. She spends the entire class regurgitating the textbook. In short, you never can know what to expect, and who has time for that in college?
god she is ridiculous about grading! You will spend hours doing these lesson plans and you will receive 8 points out of 20 because she thinks your 9 page lesson plan isn't detailed enough. It is the most frustrating because when you ask her she says "read your notes" She can be extremely rude but sometimes very nice. Avoid her and the stress.
This professor has no concept of time and forces you to be in class as she reads straight from the book. Does not grade fair. Shes horrible!! Shes nice at first and then becomes a monster! She needs to change her teaching methods because you learn nothing and theres a lot of work! Do not wait for her to start the work or you will run out of time!
Goes over lesson plans with a fine tooth comb. The work is not at all about content but semantics and putting things exactly where she wants them. You can do your lesson plan well but if you don't put it word for word how she wants it.. You can say that you smacked all the children to make them learn, and as long as you word it her way you're good!
Don't be scared, she's not a monster. She prepares you for the real world and your student teaching. She is always available to help you with your lesson plans. Yes, the work load is intense, but get over it you're in college! if you want to become a great and organized teacher take her. the ones that dislike her just don't know how to work hard.
I'm taking her class now. There is a lot of assignmnets, but i think this reading prepares you for student teaching. The professor is very helpful. The first lesson plan will be your lowest grade. She likes for you to include details of how you are going to teach the student. For this apecific class you n ed to be in class because you are tutoring a chil
This professor is nice, but she doesn't have an office,so if you want to meet with her, you have meet with her before or after class. Her workload is fair being that you are in an upper division class, her grade is ok, overall i give her a B.
Dr. Robbins is awesome! She explains everything to you and guides you through the class. If you read the syllabus and participate, this class is a breeze.
This class is one of the most difficult I have taken. Not because of the material, but because of how picky she is. If your paper is perfect besides formatting, you still won't get a good grade. She also changes her mind frequently. DO NOT MISS A CLASS. You risk missing a change of directions. You have to print a 60+ page syllabus too.
I found Dr. Robbins' class informative and fun. Though she is fair and accomodating, her no nonsense approach to assignments made the classroom environment even. Looking forward to taking her again.
She is truly an amazing teacher, she is very knowledgeable of what she teaches. There is lots of work but she is very clear about what she assigns. I definately recomend her. If you do all the assignments correctly and on time you will definately get an A. I ended up with a B for turning in some assingments late.
I was nervous about taking a class with Dr.Robbins because of some of the previous comments. But she is an AMAZING professor! By far the best I've had in the Education department so far. She's extremely helpful, crystal clear about her assignments, & best of all she makes the class interesting & fun. I recommend her to everyone! :) TAKE HER!
I was dreading taking her class because of the things I had heard but I'm glad I did. Of course attendance is mandatory, you are responsible for a student. Why would anyone want to leave their student without a tutor? Do the work and ask for help when you need it. She will help. The class is difficult, so is teaching.
Do not take her. Please, save yourself the trouble of having to put up with her two-faced attitude. She sugar coats everything, and tries to be nice when in reality she's evil. She is way too picky with grading, inconsistent with her scheduling, and terribly annoying. Pick a better professor.
This professor is amazing. Her class is a lot of work but you actually learn. She will be there every step of the way for you. If you ever need help you can go to her office and she will help you until you complete the whole assignment. Most helpful teacher and will accept work late.
Class is pretty easy if you follow directions. Take notes and start your ABC book ASAP. You learn A LOT and if you take her for the other RED's, its a lot easier because you're used to how she works. I highly recommend this professor. She knows what she's talking about, and although she's "harder" than others, it is worth it! I highly recommend!
Had her for RED1, & now RED2. Although RED2 is a bit more work & more difficult, she is worth taking! She teaches you a lot, & you actually learn! She allows 4 U to redo an assignment if you get a low score as long as you learn from your mistakes. I recommend her 100%. Plus, you'll most likely have her for RED4, so its good to know how she works.
A LOT of work. I would advise you to record class. She gives a lot of details, and sometimes she didn't say what she thinks she said and then holds you accountable. Personally, I think she put too much emphasis on the "what" of what we do, and not enough on the "why". She is helpful, though, and works as hard as you do. Ask for help if you take her
TONS of assignments/lesson plans. She gives you a week for each lesson plan which you have to write it up, teach it and then write a reflection. Its a lot to do. She talks excessively, but yet misses a lot of important details in which she takes points of for. Check all your graded work for her mistakes! and you need both books every class day
She gives a lot of work and doesn't really explain the assignments. She makes you write a three level paper for every assignment regardless of how much work it is.
One of the best teachers at FIU. She is passionate about teaching future teachers how to teach reading. Follow her syllabus and do EVERYTHING she tells you to do, and you'll do great. I've had her for 2 reading classes and taking my third with her in the fall.
Very knowledgeable professor but extremely hard course. Unfortunately formatting is more important than content for lesson plans and assignments & grading is subjective even w/ a rubric. Intimidating rather than approachable-get on her two-faced good side early. Avoid the extra stress she causes & take Tsalikis or Yribarren for all reading courses.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS DURING THE SUMMER!!!!!!! Trust me, it is three weeks long, monday-friday 9-2pm at least 4 homework assignments due each day lesson plan due every day. ALOT of work! I am not sure how I functioned in this class! You will only get about 2 hours of sleep every night if you take this with robbins over the summer!
She is a very difficult teacher and prepare for alot of assignments. You will have to do an ABC Book, lesson plans, and at least 4 or 5 extensive assignments. However, the reward at the end is fulfilling and if you are a hard worker you will definitely pass. I finished with an A.
This class consists of a TON of work. You do not know what stress is until you take this class. Teacher is clear on exactly what she expects and is always willing to answer any questions. Do not be afraid to ask. Grades us depending on whether or not she sees progress in our work throughout the semester. Make the effort and you will succeed!
Robbins is an amazing professor. If you are lazy and want an easy A, don't take this course. She expects full effort and dedication in order to pass. She challenges students to do more than other professors, which is helping to create QUALITY future teachers. Extremely stressful and time consuming but you will be grateful at the end.
Dr. Robbins standards are very high. An A in her class is very possible.... but you'll have to work for it. She is very fair and approachable. If you want to be TRULY PREPARED for your student internship take her. Slackers will not make it through this class.
Robins is awesome, for sure taking her again. The class is intense but you learn, if you want an easy dont take her, but if you want to work for your A and actually learn something then Robins is the professor for you!
She is a good professor. She is very specific about how she wants assignments. The good thing is she explains clearly what she wants and is usually available after class to help. She knows a lot about the subject and you will learn in this class.
Inconsistent in grading. Doesn't even read some of your work and then is hyper-critical in others. Provides no explanation or examples. She just reads off her powerpoints, which don't help. Can be very rude. Be prepared to teach yourself. Worst educational experience ever!
I wouldn't take her again!
I was scared going into this class because of all the reviews but after taking her, I don't understand. She is the sweetest professor I've ever had, very understanding and helpful. She explained all the assignments clearly and with time. She was passionate about the subject and helping students. You'd have to be a moron not to do good in her class.
Dr. Robbins is a great teacher, you just need to do all of her assignments the way she want them and you can get yourself an easy A or B in her class.
I had heard bad comments about this professor and was hesitant about taking her class. But, I am glad I ended up taking it. She explains everything clearly and in depth. She gives a rubric for every assignment that you have to follow to the t. She provides lots of feedback and grades everything quickly. Highly recommended!
This was literally the hardest class I have ever taken in my entire college career. I had her for previous classes, so I kind of knew what I was getting myself into. She will push you beyond expectations you have ever had for yourself. It is a lot of work, there is never a break. However, I learned more from her than I have from any other teacher.
She gives a good amount of work but is willing to help and provides tons of feedback and will help you out! make sure that you are on her good side though.
This class requires A LOT of work! Attendance is technically not mandatory but I suggest you do not miss one day because she goes over very important material every class. She is a detailed and tough grader but luckily if she notices you are progressing and doing better she will help you out. She is a nice lady just be prepared for a lot work
She gives an excessive amount of work and assigns Three Point Reflections for every assignment. I would never take this teacher again. In fact, I actually took Reading 2 over the Summer and will be taking Reading 4 in the summer to avoid her completely. I refuse to take her again. She isn't very nice and she is very hypercritical. Never again.
This class requires a lot of work, the professor is nice and professional. She accepted all my late work with points deducted, I would have gotten an A if everything was turned in on time. If you want to pass you must stay organized, go to class when the work is explained, and stick to the exact instructions she gives. Study for mid and final.
Professional, organized, clear expectations, brings depth & knowledge to the field. All classes in the RED series are a lot of work, her class is no different. Prepares you to be the best you can be. Super accessible & truly cares about her students. Take her if you really want to learn. You will come out on the other side with great appreciation.
Great class, loved her! Yes, assignments are long, but easy. If you plan it out correctly you will have more than enough time to complete assignments. She gives study guides for mid term and final that are basically the test with some brain power. I was one point away from and A.
I took her during summer A. The class was extremely stressful and there was work back to back, but that is what is expected out of a 6 week course. Overall, she gives good feedback and cares about her students. If you miss a class, you will miss a huge chunk of her class. She uses all her books, so buy them! Hybrid course as well. No tests
Her class was very tough, and let me tell you though you learn a lot from her and she cares for her students. If you ever need to email her about an assignment she will gladly help her. I recommend you don't miss any class, every class is so important. Make sure to take notes she explains every assignment in detail.
This professor is AWFUL! She is SO tough. Many people said to take her because even though she is rough you will learn. NOT TRUE! I am learning things that I am not going to need as a teacher. She has super high expectations that are nearly impossible to meet while also taking 3 other courses.
Robbins is a great professor! Yes she is tough, yes it is a lot of material, but if you study and attend all the classes you will learn so much! I would have to say she is one of my favorite professors I have ever taken. She gives study guides for the midterm and final which you HAVE to study. As long as you study and go to class you will be fine!
I LOVED THIS PROFESSOR! She was super sweet and understanding if there is ever an issue, however, this class is A LOT of work but it is doable. As long as you keep up with the heavy printing and completing your binder journal, you're golden. For both the midterm and final you receive a study guide and there is a lot of classroom discussions.
She's very sweet and wants everyone to pass. Lectures require participation, but she'll explain concepts if no one is understanding. Midterm and Final are stressful, but not impossible to get an A on. Keep your binder organized and print out everything she sends you by email! Binder is a huge part of grade! 3 basic mini-teaches, nothing too hard
AMAZING professor!!! You really learn soo much in this class. Wish I could have taken her for all my reading classes.
Steer clear. She assigns stuff and doesnt explain it cause she 'assumes you already know how she wants everything' then takes off 20 points cause you put bullet points in the chart instead of dashes. Uneeded stress in your final semesters. Take someone else, trust me
Don't do it!! So many assignments with rubrics that you think are clear but then it's like she uses a completely different grading system in her mind. Three page reflection for every assignment and she grades you on your experience like that's something that can be right or wrong?? Take someone else, trust me
Take someone else if you can, so many assignments with unclear instructions. She is a very tough grader. Brought my scores down because of silly errors that didn't impact the quality of my work at all. Honestly, just do yourself a favor and don't take her
This is my first time writing one of these so I can save everyone. Please dont take her,Im begging! She lectures things that you might never need and her grading is ruthless. If you plan on doing an assignment just know you if you arent psychic and don't guess what shes thinking it will be marked wrong. Also, she makes you print 10 pages per class.
Dr. Robbins is one of the greatest professors I've ever had! I would take her class for every RED course if I could. All classwork, no homework - unless no time left in class which never really happens. Journal reflections and midterm and final. she reviews info with you all the time and provides so many ways to learn. truly a great professor!!!
SO MUCH WORK! I am a straight A student that does not mind a work-filled course. However, her lack of compassion and demand on students that work hard and have jobs is just ridiculous. Yes she is a good teacher and very knowledgable but she literally gives you a mountain of work and no time to do it. Doable but very stressful.
She got the class the day before school started. Instead of just going with what the previous teacher have already uploaded. She rebuild the course from top to bottom. Which made the course more difficult then it was suppose to be. She doesn't know how to use canvas. this was just a long hard semester. She is very understanding though.
I haven't even finished the class, but do not take her. Requires you to have a binder with dividers and a notebook, makes you print out a whole bunch of articles, is not open to the idea of keeping it all electronic to save paper. Tough grader would be putting it easy, grades assignments ridiculously hard.
She is really nice and funny, explains everything that she wants. Requires you to have a binder with dividers and a notebook, makes you print out a whole bunch of articles LIKE A LOT OF ARTICLES. She is a bit of a tough grader she doesn't have a final or midterm anymore just 4 quizzes short answer questions write a paragraph minimum per question.
This class was very enjoyable. Dr. Robbins is a great Professor and you can tell she loves what she teaches. This class flies by because she is very engaging and knows the materials very well. She's easy to reach and always gives feedback. However, there is a lot of paperwork you need to keep track off.
She's an amazing prof, 6 quizzes all open notes. A couple of assignments but she is clear on her instructions. The only downside requires A LOT OF PRINTING. Be prepared to spend money on printing every week she sends a list of articles to be printed and stored in your class binder.
I was afraid to take her class because of the reviews but she's really not that bad. I am one of the biggest procrastinators ever yet I did all her assignments and never got a bad grade. She knows what she teaches and I learned a lot from her. Only downside I'd say is that she does make u print A LOT of paper.
Dr. Robbins is the BEST PROFESSOR in FIU's school of education. She is filled with knowledge and wants to make her students the best possible version of themselves. Be extremely detailed in your lesson plans and participate. You need to show that you cared. Dr. Robbines is so amazing that I cried during our farewell class.
Terrible. She's a tough grader and you need all the books.
Shes not clear at all, especially if you take the class online. She sucks at giving direction.
Prof. Robbins is organized and friendly. Her lectures were relatively straightforward and a lot of the same concepts are drilled multiple times. There are quite a lot of homework assignments, but they're literally all based on the lectures, so if you pay attention in class and go back to the websites she shows you, they're no problem.
SHE IS TERRIBLE PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF DO NOT TAKE HER. I have never done a rate my professor but I am so dissatisfied with this lady she is an unfair grader and assigns 11 assignments due in one day. DO NOT REGISTER FOR HER COURSE. I have never received a D in any of my courses this is the first one and the first issue I have had at this school
RIDICLIOUS GRADER TERRIBLE PROFESSSOR DOESNT KNOW WHAT SHE IS DOING DO NOT TAKE HER IT WILL RUIN YOUR GPA SHE GIVES 11 ASSIGNMENTS DUE FOR ONE DAY I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND HER she will literally give you a 1/10 on an assignment without reason
Shes good but not that good. I took her online and promised myself I would never take her again. Shes really bad at giving direction. But the work is doable but its also alot of work.
I DROPPED THE CLASS. SHE GAVE A .05 OUT OF 5 POINTS ON A FIRST ASSIGNMENT. EXPLANATION WAS NOT CLEAR NOR DID SHE GIVE OPPORTUNITY TO TRY AGAIN WITH PROPER CLARIFICATION. BECAUSE OF THIS 1 PAPER, MY GRADING WAS AT 67%. COULD NOT RISK MY GPA.
Dr. Robbins gives about 3-5 assignments due each week (random days). There is no break. A lot of writing, an essay every week. Moves so fast that is hard to fully understand a concept. Tough grader. I am holding on but really struggling. The amount of work is unnecessary. She gives more assignment than my other three classes put together.
Professor Robbins wasn't a great professor her assignments were very complicated to understand and I would never take her again.
DON'T TAKE HER CLASS!!! She is an extremely tough grader, a lot of assignments due on random days of the week. She had a quiz open up from 7-9 and then changed the time from 6-7 on the day of the quiz without notifying us. She game me a 1/2 for a course recap, we just had to write that we had checked in on our progress in the course. Save your GPA.
Do not take her! This class has stressed me out so much. I am a good student and stay on top of my work, but she makes everything so difficult. Be prepared to teach yourself. She is inconsiderate of students' responsibilities outside of her course. I constantly felt blindsided and left in the dark by random assignments being added.
This professor has given me an extremely bad taste for FIU. She does NOT respond to emails, she does not function like a professor who is all there. She does not care if you do well or not, and her point structure for assignments does NOT match her syllabus. This is a professor who does not love what she does, and should honestly not teach anymore.
This professor hates her job. She refuses to answer to emails or accommodate to meet for a zoom meeting. Her points system, as mentioned below by someone else does not match her grading criteria. I met all points to pass with a minimum up a C, and I somehow ended up with a D. I tried appealing but she didn't cooperate. Sadly, she's the only option.
Avoid this class if possible. Professor Robbins seems inflexible and overly demanding. The heavy workload and unreasonable grading make for a very stressful experience. However, Unstuckstudy could be a helpful tool for managing the workload and staying organized.
RUN AWAY!!!!! I am an A student currently sitting at a 4.0 GPA and this professor is going to ruin it. There is so much work to do, which I do not mind, but the grading system is all over the place!!! I hope you are a mind reader if you want to somehow manage to do exactly what she is expecting because she does not tell you and will deduct points.
If I could give her a 0/5, I would. She is HORRIBLE. She literally got her degree near 1970. She honestly needs to retire, you can tell she hates her job. Horrible grading, you have to read her mind to pass. Gave me feedback on an assignment once and said I didn't answer a question that wasn't even on there. Wont answer emails for anything.
