Nice teacher, If you memorize all the notes that she gives you'll get an A.

She's okay, requires lots of memorization for her bio 3 class. And her class is not as hard as she sounds, she make it seem really difficult, apprently to motivate you to work harder. And although she doesn't admit to this, she does curve at the end. :)

Helen is the best biology teacher I've ever had. She makes copies of lecture notes for everyone, and even though the material is quite dense and complicated, she makes sure that everything is in order and the student learns from her teachings. She has a Greek accent, hard to understand at times, but you'll get used to her and find her adoring.

Good teacher. You dont even have to take notes because she has them done for you already. Just go over the notes before test.

She is the sweetest teacher who really cares about students learning the material and passing their boards. She gives students a study guide and 90% of it is right from that! She also ends up giving away free bee points just for the heck of it! awesome and easy teacher!

She gives 5 exams (drops lowest exam). Study the lecture notes AND outline. Memorize the notes she gives you and you will get an A. Exams are all multiple choice. Quizes are based on lab. I got a zero on quiz and still got an A in the class. Pay attention to what she writes in lab... They will end up in Lab practical and/or quiz.

i learn so much in this class. lab is really interesting. she even hands out study guide for you. STUDY THE STUDY GUIDE and you'll do great on exams. it was hard to understand her English sometime.... but...you'll get use to it.. TAKE THIS CLASS GUYS. its a very interesting class

Summer session'07. Yay!Scary. Just study hard & you'll learn.I don't understand why some students complained about her if she gives you her lecture handouts and study guides. Summer 07 done! I took her for summer session, overall she is a good teacher but will benefit more if she worked in a research lab. She gives you hand outs to read, power point presentation for lecture, heavy accent but you get use to it. She rush during lab tough and would cram material together so the class won't fall behind. She is a complete cutie. Her class is really scary at first, but after the first month or two, after mostly everyone drops ( :P ), she becomes really easy. No textbook needed. She is A LOT OF WORK. Unless Bio is your forte, this is not an easy subject to learn. She truly has the student's interest in mind and will work with you so that you can pass the class. Show some effort and participate in the extra credit assignment and she will not fail you. Decent lectures, great lab sessions.

She is an incredible professor. Really knows her subject and she is very accesible to everyone. The best Micro professor I have ever had. This professor always gives few more questions on the exam for Xtra pts. Want easy? go to Davis. The lab is incredible and at the end of the semester you will really know you learned A LOT.

She gives her own notes b4 the class, and her exams just test you all from notes and lectures, so dont have to worry about the textbook. You should memorize and prepare a lot b4 exam and quiz. She also help student writing a recommandation letter. If you prepare to go to nurse or professional school, i highly recommanded her.

Prof. Sarantapolus is a good biology teacher. Gives you easy assignments and woth the points. Study for exams! on book and her notes(sheets she give you). Interesting class. I took Bio 1 with Ms Sarantopoulos at 7:15am and I loved it!! her class is boring at first cuz u might have some trouble understanding her but shes a really fun teacher makes her class intresting at 7:15am hahaha!!!!

Helen intimidates her students from the very first day! Don't worry tho, you find that she is actually nice as time goes on. She is very punctual and expects you to BE THERE AND ON TIME. Had her for Winter and got an A, but you have to study. You can skip the textbook, just make sure you study her lecture notes thoroughly, and you should be fine.

Be very studious to do well on lecture exams, as they are given frequently. They aren't too difficult if u really learned and understood the lectures. BUT, beware, the final was super hard!The labs are interesting but you must be very good in bacteria ID bcuz it's EZ to fail by missing a couple like on lab miterm. Professor's very knowlegable.

If taking her for the regular 16 wk semester, be prepared to prepare and memorize an average of 8 - 14 essays each lecture test. The labs are intense but the final lab test was easy, She teaches to the board and I find her final lecture exami to be standardized like a professional med program examination. Nice personality , and very intelligent.

Prof. S is alright. She can be hard to understand sometimes but do your best. If you take her class, drop it or pass it because you don't want to take with again, there's only like three profs teaching this class. I didn't really use the book and a B, so I wasted my money. You will learn some stuff but it's a boring class.

i would recommend this instructor.. she comes off hard at first because she wants everyone to try and be successful. she is also always willing to help with class and orientating her students in the path for students to be sucessful. Read the book carefully and study her study guide. Study the lab charts carefully and youll be good at every test

Challenging in the Summer. This was my first science class and to be honest she was right about taking weekends and weeknights off to study. But what course can you pass without studying? I learned so much and as she always says "it's not about memorizing, it's about understanding." Not an easy A but you will learn a lot. Definitely recommend her.

One of the greatest professors ever! She lays out everything you need to know in this class and makes it easy for the students who aren't Bio majors. So for those who are trying to do the bare minimum to finish the science pre-req, this is the woman to take! She is sweet, nice, and very helpful. She will practically cater to your every need.

This class was really difficult. She does not baby at all in here. She may throw a little extra credit here and there, but she does not fool around at all. Her 20 page study guides were just too much to handle. Download and read your powerpoints along with memorizing essay questions. That's your best hope here. Her finals in this course will kill!

This woman is so great that I had to take all her classes. Her summer micro 20 course was fairly difficult(for never having bio), bio 3 was too easy, and micro 1 was really difficult. No doubt she loves her students and wants to pass us. She comes off really strict the first day as you really do need to study, but she is a funny & great professor!

Dr. S was an amazing professor but she gets boring a lot. I missed lectures a lot and read powerpoints and only went to lab. Follow study guides for exams and your fine. In lab we had a great lab assistant and he was helpful. Going to lab was exciting and they made my first science course so much fun! Take this class I loved it so much!

Dr.S is simply the BEST. She is the kindest, funniest, caring professor I've had the pleasure to meet at ELAC. This course is a bit difficult but there is NO WAY you can fail because she makes it almost impossible. I was a bit skeptical about taking this course during the summer as it is only 5 weeks long. While there was a lot of information to cover in a short amount of time Prof. S was very helpful and tried to make sure her students passed. Labs were interesting and she is also pretty funny.

I actually overstudied for most of her exams because I thought it was going to be harder than it really was! focuses more on lectures than the book but sometimes she gets some questions from the textbook so it helps to read it too! Really made lectures interesting and her accent isn't that heavy so she's easy to understand. Take her class!

Professor Sarantopoulos' class is very easy. She uploads practice tests and essay questions on Moodle to study. If you study them you should do well in the tests. You will also have online work. You will have a group extra credit presentation due at the end of the semester. Professor Sarantopoulos is strict on attendance but is the best professor.

She makes the subject extremely interesting and knows what she is talking about. She is extremely NICE.... too NICE, which is good. As long as you put effort in class you should be good. She puts practice test on moodle, which are nearly identical to the real test. IF YOU NEED BIO TAKE HER! EVEN IF YOU ARE TERRIBLE AT SCIENCE!

STUDY. I am a liberal arts major and really struggle with the sciences. She made biology easy to understand for me. You will have online homework, but it really helps with her tests. Study the study guides she gives to you because most of the test questions are from there. She's easygoing and very passionate. Do the reading and you'll be fine.

Helen is one of the strongest female professors at ELAC. She is an amazing lecturer and an even more amazing individual. She inspires you and she wants what's best for her students! Dr. Sarantopoulos was a great instructor. She is very approachable and open to answering any questions you may have. She cares about her students and wants you to succeed. This class is not easy and through out the semester she would remind you not to fall behind. Read the chapters and her power points and you will be golden.

Dr. Sarantopoulos is an excellent educator who is organized, and consistent from lecture to lab. Her lectures are extremely detailed, and encourages students to ask questions after every topic. Dr. S is one of the best Bio teachers at Elac! Lectures are really detailed and organized. Labs can be tedious, but if you put in the effort and keep up with everything then you should be able to pass the class with a good grade. Test Q's are straight from the study guides she provides online. Lab quizzes are based on the previous week's lab.

To be honest, I did not even pass the biology in my high school. When I was taking her bio, she inspired me and encouraged me. She cared bout my grade and my other stuff such as my job. She is a great professor ever I met in east Los Angeles college. I will like to take her class again in spring 2018 even just for fun and learning!

I took this professor for microbiology 1. I had such mixed feelings about taking the course because of how hard and intense I had heard it would be. This professor was life changing! She is so kind hearted and such an inspiration. Shes very educated in her field and knows a lot about the medical field! Highly recommend her!!!!

I have to say, this is my first time ever writing on this page. With that being said, this teacher is dope. I took her for winter and oh my god it was so much material but she definitely cut us some slack. At first you may feel scared after you meet her but shes just preparing you. I wanted to drop the class but I ended riding it out to the end.

Yes it is a science class of course it is going to be hard in some way. She made the subject easier and clearer to understand and she does help you with a four year you just have to ask her. Dr. S is great, I recommend her if you are care about your learning. She is great to take if you are preparing yourself for medicine, nursing etc. Words of advice: know the protozoa, fungi and parasitic worms handout VERY WELL. It will help greatly for the lab final and the lecture final.

4 Exams (1 dropped), 1 final, hw online. Show up to class and you will pass. Exams are based exactly on lecture and powerpoint. She will have a review session before the test and practically gives you the answers, just take notes and study them. Lab is easy, quizzes are based on lab manual, and final is composed of past quizzes (STUDY THEM).

She comes off kind of scary, but her class is worth taking, especially for the lab portion. Labs were very fun and instructive and she makes microbiology interesting and the concepts easy to grasp. There's written short answers on the tests but s long as you participate in lab and read the textbook, you'll be fine. She makes the material fun.

She definitely comes off like a drill Sargent at first. You have to be there everyday and on time which is hard for early morning classes. She gives a lot of opportunities to save yourself through extra credit and she dropped our lowest test grade. I never got less than 100% on the essay portion. Final wasnt too bad either. Good choice overall.

Her class is a little boring, but you will learn a lot from her. She grades you based on your attendance, Mcgraw hill connect hws (which is very helpful for studying), quizzes & exams. Gives an extra credit and one take home exam. Overall shes a great professor and shes knowledgeable when it comes to the health care field.

Dr. S is very straight forward with what is expected from you. She clearly wants everyone to do well in the class. Homework assignments were easy but very long, it does help you score a good grade on the tests though.

Dr Helen was an exceptional professor for me while I was in college. Her microbiology classes sparked my interest in working in the biology field. After trying to be an RN, I discovered I belong in a research field working in virology. Dr Helen's class is mostly lecture, but the fun part is lab. If you enjoy micro, it'll be EASY to pass with an A+

Dr. S is definitely an amazing professor I took both her micro 20 class and bio 3 class all in the same semester and passed both. She is very helpful and goes over the work with the class to make sure everyone understands the material. *Side note* its very important that when taking her class you have to buy the McGraw hill book for assignments.

Professor S. is great. She can be scary at first, but later on, she'll warm up to you. There are 4 exams (one take out exam); the lowest score is dropped! 4 quizzes, 1 clinical lab report, and hw assignments. She also gives extra credit! This is about as easy as it'll get for a MICRO class. Work hard, and you will get your A.

Dr. S is a caring, non-nonsense professor. She calls it as it is. I had her on my Bios 3 class and now I am taking Micro 20 with her. By far, the most knowledgeable instructor I encountered at ELAC. Dr. Sarantopoulos is an amazing teacher and some students take advantage of it. She is very clear on the assignments. In case you did mistakes on your homework, she doesn't downgrade you but still awards points for participation. Very professional and caring.

Prof Helen Sarantoupoulos is one of the best Prof in ELAC, she is talkative and brilliant. Participation matters (she calls randomly to ask questions). Tons of extra Credit. Homework is really time-consuming but it helps in passing the class. Be ready to pay money for the textbook but you will enjoy, learn and pass her class with flying colors.

A reminder this is not an easy class but with a great professor like her, it is doable. Staying on top of assignments is key. Took this as a five-week course. Very fast pace but you can do it. . Even though it was zoom, she had us do classwork. That was the participation points, she will call on you, cant avoid it.

Put in the time and work. You can pass this class with an A if you take the time to study and read. Dr. S is very transparent and the criteria is clear. She asks a lot of questions and does knowledge checks during lab so be ready. I absolutely loved her class. There were difficult days but stay ready and get ahead. She is very helpful.

Took her online biology class & lab for spring at 1st she seems intimidating but she's really nice and caring! The work she gives is really straight forward so it is easy to pass her class. We had one weekly meeting, she assigned questions for us to answer in groups and gives participation points for that. I would take her again!
