I found her to be far more interesting than Dr. Carlson. She demands more of you in that there is weekly h.w. graded for accuracy. However, her exuberance is contagious and the smaller class size allows her to keep attention of most. Lenient on tests too.

Dr. Malinakova's lectures are extremely boring and they don't help you prepare for any of her exams. Basically, it's pointless going to lecture (even though I've attended every lecture and still have yet to learn anything from them). Her exams are really difficult. At least there's HW to boost your grade.

I liked her better than Benson. Her lectures are boring, but it's a boring subject. Her tests are written, not multiple choice, which I prefer for a class like this. The only problem was that the graders were sometimes a little hard on grading, depending on who graded your test. Don't worry if you don't get an A or B on each test, there's a curve.

Malinakova did a good job at getting the difficult material across. She can be dry, but going to class was worth it for me. She's good at piecing the concepts together and helping you visualize 3rd-dimensionally. I had her for both OChem I and II, and did well in both. Be sure to go over hws, practice problems, and go to reviews. She curves, too.

Malinakova is a good lecturer as far as Chemistry, it's not an easy thing to teach. My suggestion, GO TO PLUS, it helps tremendously. Exams are very similar to homework. Run for the hills. Do NOT take. I started asking for extra help in September and never received it. She is the type of professor that genuinely does not care about her students. CHEM 330 is supposed to be challenging, but she doesn't even help you understand other than saying to "study more." Trust the reviews- take anyone else.

Ochem1 is really challenging, but Malinakova really does care for her students. This class will teach you that you have to take responsibility for your own grades and read through the textbook, take notes, go to help sessions, etc. (STUDY) Overall, she understands that the concepts are hard and gave us 35 points of extra credit opportunities.

If you haven't taken OChem 2 yet, I highly recommend it with her during the summer. Heads up, this class is very test heavy! To study, make notecards of all mechanisms, and watch all the videos she posts. Dont recommend taking it during a summer when you have the MCAT. Lots of work, but I'd retake this class in a heartbeat with her!

Book is very confusing because it doesn't explain anything. Homework and exams have many typos. I feel as though she teaches as if we took ochem before and assumes we know what she is talking about without explaining. GTA Leander is absolutely no help. Lectures sometimes doesn't match what is talked about on the homework.

Dr. Malinakova is a kind person who is knowledgeable about the subject, but she isn't the best at communicating what she knows in a clear and engaging way. Her lectures are very dry and tests make up EIGHTY percent of the grade in the course. She wrote the textbook used. A lot of this course feels like repetition of just a few concepts so far.

This is not an easy class regardless of the teacher. But it is harder with her. Tests are a high percentage of your grade, so don't mess up. She writes her own book/homework so if you don't know how she does something there is a good chance you will get it wrong. Her lectures are jumbled, and she speeds through content without going over it well.

She gets a bad rep but she's a very knowledgeable and friendly professor. She is a strict grader but you will be FAR better prepared for O Chem 2 than you would with a different professor. If you're in O Chem to pass, take Benson. If you want to master the content, take her class. Also, the reason I got an A+ was due to an extra credit opportunity.

If you are applying to dental, PA, or med school do not take this class, you need to protect your gpa and this class with this professor is not the way to go. She has no mercy, my mother almost died mid-semester and I was not allowed to make up any points because I "should've got accommodations if I needed them". I had a 3.89 gpa before this class

Overall, Malinakova is not a bad professor. She is very knowledgeable about the subject, just doesn't know how to teach it. I recommend attending office hours. The GTA Leander was no help so if you have her don't count on her. She never attended office hours and never responded to emails when asking for help. I still recommend taking Benson.

Overall if you want to understand organic chemistry I recommend this professor. I took her class over the summer and it was very time consuming but if you went to lecture and watched her mechanism videos you can do well in the class. Learn do not memorize the content or you will not do well in her class!

She is overall very knowledgeable about the topic, however, she sometimes gets off topic and can make it unclear about what we're actually supposed to know. Personally, the class was not too difficult, just need to put in the effort; paying attention in lecture and going to her weekly review sessions is the best way to get a good grade.

Professor Malinakova knows a lot about the subject she's teaching, but she doesn't make the information easily accessible. She skims over/rushes through key topics without properly explaining them, and expects you to know/understand them with little instruction. I found her class tedious and exhausting, especially with exams worth 80% of your grade

I have to retake this class because I got a C- in her class. She has nothing in the grade book besides exams basically so if you don't do well on those you're not gonna pass. I am retaking it with benson next year because a C- is not accepted in Med/Dental/PA school so if you want to get a good grade in OCHEM run to bensons class!

The absolute hardest A I've ever had to work for. Lectures are monotonous and are almost never helpful, her explanations are difficult to follow and there are very little outside or in class resources to assist you (no TA's). I straight up just went to Benson's lectures instead and I advise you do the same. My A means nothing don't take her please.

(336, lab lecture) Dr. Malinakova is very sweet and one of the most understanding professors I've had. That being said, I was often very confused during her class and had to teach myself most of the material outside of class to feel like I could succeed in the class. She gave a lot of practice similar to what was on the exam, so make sure to review

Just take Bensons class! Ive heard great things about his class. This teacher is passionate about the subject but not very good at teaching it. I had to watch Youtube videos and teach myself. Also the exams are worth majority of your grade so if you fail those you'll have to retake. Only thing good about her is the example problem videos.

Worst lectures ive ever attended. Doesnt give study guides, practice tests. Instead wants you to do the homework assignments over and over again to study. And those are also terrible. If you cant get into benson, take honors Chem 330. Im currently on track for an A but this is after not going to her lectures and teaching myself the info. TA is odd

It says more about her teaching style than students' study methods when the class average is a 44% on exam 2. You would think that a scientist would make exams statistically valid. But, she doesn't curve exams or throw out invalid questions. When 60% of the class fails, look at the teacher rather than question if the students are putting in effort.

Hearing the things previous students had to say about her class terrified me. Now, we are almost done with the semester. Students 1000% over exaggerate her as a professor. Anything on the tests can be practiced on the weekly HW assignments. She doesn't leave any surprises. She is nice and if you are willing to put in the work, you can succeed.

She cares a lot about how things work in real life and in the lab. She has 'homeworks', they aren't helpful except the 'study cards'. Malinakova as a person is not evil or rude or disrespectful, but her organic chemistry section will make you feel like you're taking an honors level weed-out class. The class is mostly exams, but homework takes forever, studying is entirely up to you, and she cares deeply if you answer questions the way you were taught. At least there's a curve.

Organic chemistry is hard, yes. The class is very manageable with REAL effort. Exams reflect homework and textbook problems EXACTLY as she claims, there are no surprise topics. Sure, no "traditional study guide", but the material to study is clearly there. The people NOT passing is 100% due to lack of effort and overexaggeration. Go to class.
