I'm still taking this class but so far, this class is extremely doable! Very little homework and plenty of access to study materials for the exams (footnotes of lecture slides, TA discussion slides, practice problems with online textbook). There are 3 exams and she drops the lowest one! Lectures are a bit fast-paced but she posts slides.

Overall, Dr. Engler's class was very manageable. Grade is comprised of quizzes and exams, extra credit opportunity during every lecture. Textbook and discussion were the most useful resources. Drops one exam out of three total, no final, and exams are pretty easy. She's very nice except for when she threatened to change her exam drop policy.

One of the best professors I've had! She's a good lecturer, but she is also very accessible outside of class. She was very happy to write a recommendation for me. Attend her office hours, even if just to talk. Made understanding the material very easy. If you have to take genetics or another of her courses, I would definitely recommend her!

Dr Engler was probably the best professor I had this year. Her lectures are very well organized and rather engaging, you get extra credit opportunity every class, and her exams are very fair. Her quizzes are online and open note (homework) and you can take each quiz twice. 10/10 prof would 100% take here again if she taught another class I needed.

The lectures go by pretty quickly and are quite fast paced but the class itself is actually very manageable. There are three tests, one is dropped, and take home quizzes online quizzes where two are dropped. The TA discussions were really helpful before the test. HARD CLASS. Grade based on 3 tests (lowest dropped), and several quizzes. Attendance not required and HW not for grade, but it is VERY easy to fall behind. I never understood what she was teaching during lecture and content was super confusing. She refuses to give ppt slides before/during lecture and doesn't post lecture recordings.

She stopped doing EC (now 1 point only); lectures are crazy long and often too simplified for the HW. The HW also usually made 0 sense and didn't follow the lectures. Basically everything good you've heard about her class has stopped. Can't tell if she hates us now (this is coming from someone who had her for 311D) Genuinely surprised. She changed.

Took this class because of her great reviews but she is COMPLETELY different. The homework is irrelevant to her lectures (which are insanely hard to understand) and the class penalizes you for learning (instapolls are graded for accuracy during class without practice on content, quiz can be taken twice but both grades count). Not worth it.

Listens to student feedback, exams are very fair. The exams are at least 50% quiz questions / instapolls, and questions of the day, which you can review anytime. It's pretty easy to predict what content will be on it because she emphasizes key points. Of the genetics profs, she is EASILY the most attainable A. (Little EC is the only tradeoff)
