She is a very good teacher!!! If I had that teacher before I would never score below B+. She explains everything in very simple way. She is very helpful and nice. I am really glad that I took her class :)

Honestly, I didn't like her at first. I thought I'm not going to learn from her because she speaks with thick accent, but as time passes by her accent did bother me anymore. Despite of her accent, she's one of the best teachers in Wright. She explains every single problem step-by-step.
She's the best math teacher I've ever had! If u listen, take notes, & do ur homework, I can guarantee u'll get an A in her class. She gives a lot of homework problems in the book so u can practice solving problems. Quizzes every week so u can prepare for the tests, which helps a lot. If u don't understand something, just ask her & she'll help u.
I agree that her accent bothered me at first because i was afraid i wasn't going to understand but she explains the problems really well. I tried taking calculus before but had to drop it. when i took it with her, i understood all the material right away. her teaching methods are good.
She is by far the best Math teacher I have ever had. She explained everything better than any teacher has before and I tried taking Pre-Calculus with other teachers. People need to quit obsessing over her accent, she's from Uruguay :) and Latina's rock!!!!!
You guys should check out her website on Wright College. She is not only a mathematician but is a skillful artist. Her drawings are online. Her instruction is clear, and her quizzes are also straight forward. I was kinda scared by her tone of voice, but that was just because she has lived in various places like Uruguay & Spain. Awesome teacher
An amazing teacher.Got 100% in her class in every single quiz or exam.I wished my program required more math after taking her class. If i only had her in high school that would have made those years much easier.
A good teacher
awesome teacher take her if you can!!!!
She is the best math teacher I ever had. And i have to admit I hate math. She explains everything so well its just not possible not to understand. Really great teacher. She helped everyone in class.
probably the most amazing math professor to ever exist on this planet. she makes this subject INCREDIBLY simple. if you come to class everyday and do the assigned homework and you are guaranteed an A. No kidding. AMAZIIIINNNG!
Very good teacher! material is explained clearly and i had no problem in understanding it! a little boring but highly recommended!
The best math professor you might ever have!I took two of her classes already and I wish I could take more.I you don't get it in her class than I don't know who could help you.
BEST MATH TEACHER EVER!! I recommend her to anyone seeking an A in the class. Explains everything clearly, friendly, wants everyone to do well. Sometimes late to class, but definitely makes up for it by thoroughly covering the material. Do the homework, attend all of the classes then you absolutely can't go wrong. If you miss a day, you miss alot.
*** oops, I wrote the previous comment and I put the wrong section. I took her for Math 143, not 180. :) She's still amazing! I loved math again after I took her class.
Very Awesome and helpful teacher! If you do everything she asks, easy A. Do not slack off though because it's very easy to slack off! If you ever have any problems, she will make it crystal clear. I strongly recommend this teacher! Wish she taught Math 208 though....
She is the best!!!
Ms. Colman is fantastic! Everything she explained with such clarity that even I could understand(I've never liked Math). You should listen, take notes, and do your homework. No reason not to have A. Wish she taugh Math 125. I will miss her!
very good math professor, makes material clear...also a painter =-)
AWESOME!
Teacher is great. But it sucks that she doesnt a book for the class. Her quizzes are fairly easy. Exams are also fair. I took calc 2 twice and her class was my second time and I notice she skipped a lot of material.
Great Professor
best teacher ever
Good teacher. Let's you use any calculator and has no problem helping you if you need it. I changed majors so I didn't need to take her class but the few tests I took with her she was a very good professor.
Awesome teacher! Second time taking this class. After taking it with Ms. Colman, I finally understood what we were doing. Grade went from a D to B, almost an A. She is very helpful. She doesn't use the book for most of her teaching except homework, which I like. It shows she already knows the material. Try not to be late, she may kick you out!
I just discovered Engineering was for me and I went back to school. Dr. Colman only made me love math more and properly. She is not just a teacher, she is a mentor. I recommend her to math lovers and non lovers alike and at the end of the semester, you will only appreciate maths.Go to class, study, do the homework, THINK and you will get an A.
She is one of the best teachers ever. She explains very clear and helps.
she got a gift for teaching
Without a doubt, she is one the best teachers, i ever had. If only all the teachers where as good as her, we would all master Math. I Strongly recomend her,
Not only did she clarify some of the problems I was having, she taught me new things I didn't know. I had already taken a class like this in high school so it was rather easy for me. But if you do the homework and review for the quizzes and tests you'll get an A for sure. One thing that stinks is that it is relatively long - 2 hours and 20 min.
She's amazing, I despised math but she made it much more bearable. HW is due and there are quizzes every Thursday. Show up everyday to take notes and quizzes on Thursday and you'll be fine. Her method is the simplest and best; example, explain, Q&A, you try, and answers. If only all other professors taught like her. Can't wait for 207 with her!
she is one of the best teachers that I have taken at wright
Professor Colman is a fantastic teacher. I've struggled with math my whole life. I took her both for pre-calculus and calculus. She enjoys what she does, and really helps you understand concepts. She's very organized, homework everyday and quizzes every other. Do the work and study and you cannot fail. Take her.
Hellen Colman is one of the best teachers I've ever had. She is very helpful, patient and friendly, and her teaching style makes the material crystal clear. Not only will you learn, you may even become strangely interested in mathematics. My only regret is not taking her for Calc II during the summer term. Highly recommended.
Doesnt use textbook and hard to understand. If you dont know the homework problems you wont get them right. If you dont pay attention in class you will not finish the homework problems and its rediculous.
The best math professor period, makes Calculus seem easy. While she has an accent, she is NOT difficult to understand. She's detailed and clearly explains each step of a problem. Do the homework, take good notes, and study. She doesn't check the homework, but do it anyways!!! There's no reason anybody can't pass her class with an A.
One of the few teachers where calculators are frowned upon. Brush up on your integration of logs & trig functions, L'hopitals etc.! We did not use the book, although she does follow the order of the chapters. Examples are well cut and dry, practice plenty and you will be alright.
great
Quiz every weak which is very easy if you do your homework . Midterm, final and departmental final, that's all the tests you're going to take. I loved how the class played out. I very much enjoyed the lectures, do not to skip a class.
I took this as a hybrid course (half online, half in class) and enjoyed it for the most part. Easy A as long as you do your work. She assigned homework online and from the book (which was also online). Weekly in-class quizzes. Her lectures are pretty clear. Gives good feedback and answers questions/emails promptly. I would take her class again.
I mistakenly put a wrong answer online assignment and when asked for partial credit she told me to stop worrying about the points. she pretty much told me to do a better job at my math work before i turn it in. same thing with the mandatory forums. if we put a simple question she gets upset that its not lengthier
Probably one of the most closed minded instructors I've ever had. While the material is straightforward, her way of teaching is pretty communist. We had to remember pages of formulas, no calculators or minimal cheat sheets. I would not recommend her, there are plenty of other more pleasant instructors who will make this class more enjoyable.
An amazing professor. She actually teaches you where those pages of formulas come from! Now I see what math is all about. Can't wait to take the research class with her.
I believe Professor Colman is an intelligent woman, however, I find her to be rude. I asked for help once with all my homework done and the online homework completed, and she acted like I wasn't applying myself. I would not take her class if you need a Professor who can take their time with you and your learning process.
I had heard good things about her, but man I was highly disappointed with her teaching method. She expected us to know EVERYTHING from Calc1 by heart, which I kind of understand, but she was reluctant to go over anything from previous math classes. She needs to understand that we tend to forget this stuff and that we don't do math every day for fun
She is the most inspiring teacher there. Class is hard but you'll get to love math. She has a gift for teaching.
She dont keep you up to date with your grade
Professor Colman is a very disrespectful person. You can't ask her for your own grade. On top of that lied about using a calculator for exam 2 and final. Asked her a week before and told me no. The day of exam, everyone was using a calculator and I wasn't aware till about halfway through the class. Wouldn't recommend taking her as an instructor.
I have a pretty mixed reaction about this class. Although I'm pretty sure I'll end with an A, she wasn't accessible as a professor. She's only updated us on our grade once and that was during the midterm. Her lectures are pretty straight forward, but I hate the idea of 2 quizzes a week. Material was easy to understand, but not the greatest class.
She's not a good professor. She acts like a student. She's rude. Wouldn't recommend her at all. She's not good with explaing things in Math.
If you feel like doing Calculus II without a calculator then take her. I ended up having to withdrawal from her class due to a low grade. Probably the most useless professor I have ever had. Tough grader, no extra credit, and she will do nothing to help you.
Horrible teacher !!
Best professor at Wright. I am taking this class for the second time. You really have to work to pass but you really learn. Her lectures are amazing.
I took a hybrid class and it was fine. Nothing special about it, she teaches just fine but sometimes she would assume we understood everything perfectly. The online part of homework was literally watching assigned videos by other people teaching us the material. She is pretty monotone and she didn't let us use calculators.
Online, so everything was self-taught, although she was available for questions via email. There were arbitrary deadlines throughout the week with no grace period, and she does not understand that those who take online classes do so because they have other responsibilities. Class begins on a Monday? You still have 5 hours of HW due on Tuesday.
Horrible professor. No empathy. Has incredibally useless assignments that do no relate to the class. Do not take with this professor. Works at a community college but has no understanding about the lives of individuals who work full time and or have families.
she was very rude not empathy very serious and did not care about your grade she left at the middle of the semester with a different professor. and do not let you used the calculator
Don't take her unless you know you are gifted with math because she is an Unnecessarily tough grader with the quizzes she gives every week. She doesn't even update your grade online so you are left clueless as to where your grade is. Its a joke. Definitely avoid if you care about your GPA.
She was a tough grader, I know I got most of my homework right but because it was in decimal form the program would grade it wrong, when she didn't specify which format to give you answer in. Certain topics I need extra help and I asked her and she was not help at all. You don't want her as an instructor she has no compassion. Run!
Very fair professor. She is strict but clear on what is needed to pass and has great lectures. Her grading can be a little tough she has a attainable standard but it can be a little high for some students. She will put you to work but you will learn the material well!
A nice person :)
Take her remote class, not the online one. Her lectures are amazing, you will miss all that in the online class. The remote is also online, but with her lectures, her feedback, much much better.
Amazing online lectures and very easy to follow
I took the online class without lectures. It was amazing but had homeworks and quizzes and Forums every single week.
She is not a good professor when it comes to teach mathematics 146 specially for begginers, either you know mathematics before hand or you will be having to go to Tutoring. Dont take her online class, it will be tons of Quizzes and Exams that count more than your homeworks. She will make you watch self made videos to learn. Worst proffessor I had.
Discrete Math is a difficult subject if you've never heard of the topic before. As long as you did the homework early and came to the Monday lecture ready to ask questions then you should be fine.
Lectures are very clear and tons of time to ask questions in class. She is very knowledgeable. Discrete math is hard but I learned a lot in this class!
Colman's class is v easy!! Everything builds on each other in this class. The unit would start on Wednesdays; we'd watch her videos(15-20min each, maybe 2/wk) and do the HW before Monday where she would spend the whole class making sure you understood everything from the videos and does examples. Like mandatory office hours. 1 quiz/wk, but v easy!!
Crystal clear lectures. Discrete math is hard but she makes it easy. Best professor ever.
Class expectations are clear as day. The lectures are thorough, and good note taking skills are invaluable to success. I took this class during COVID and Professor Colman's use of video lectures then enforced by class lectures was very effective pedagogically. Expect to take quizzes every week.
Prof Colman makes sure everyone understands as long as you ask questions. Best teacher I found at Wright. Book is FREE. Really a plus.
Super organized. Best lectures ever.
Professor Colman is amazing, her lectures, assignments, and quizzes are perfectly structured. Class went by fast this semester.
Such a good and entertaining class! Super organized and clear. She is very knowledgeable and famous, you can see her talks everywhere. Everything is free, textbook, homework. Can't wait to take another class with her!
Professor Colman's use of pre-recorded lectures are extremely useful, it saved me time but also made topics easier to understand. Don't be afraid to ask questions, she genuinely cares about students and makes sure no one is left behind. Participation matters during live lectures. Quizzes, homework, and forum posts due weekly.
This class is super well organized. Lectures are amazing, not the typical mathlab thing. I wish she teaches calc 3 too. The book is free. The course is not too hard, just don't expect an A without a little bit of work and studying.
The class meets once a week to go over the video lectures or problems in general. The video lectures are so well done and I love them. they're easy to understand and follow. Homework problems are helpful and prepare you for the quizzes. Overall, a really amazing class to take.
Her class is awesome. She has her own video lectures and are excellent. You need to essentially write a rea paper every week. I never learned that much as in this class!
This was a great class. The weekly lectures were engaging and challenging. Professor Colman is very effective in using online learning instruction. Would definitely recommend taking.
She's a very good professor. You only will meet with her once a week, but she gives out quality online lectures for this class that's pre-recorded and there's no textbook you will need to pay for. Calculus 2 is difficult, but she explains in a very simple way that's easy to understand. Overall a good professor!
This is the best class ever. Linear algebra is fascinating. Material gradually gets hard but she gives a good base. Her examples are very clear. Take her for interesting math!
This was the most organized online class I ever took. Everything is crystal clear. Awesome class.
Please do not take her. She doesn't care about anything but her ego. No extensions or anything like that doesn't matter if you have doctor's note or someone passed. I repeat SHE DOESN'T CARE. Worst professor during my time in college.
This was one of the most organized and thought out classes. I always knew what was expected from me, and knew I could rely on her for help. She goes above & beyond to answer and explain everything. I wish I had more classes with this Professor. Very inspiring class. Dont expect to pass without working hard though!
This is was the best class I ever had. Professor Colman is top notch. I wish I had discovered her for my previous classes. This was my last class at Wright. Lectures are amazing. Her knowledge is evident and she is really able to explain until everybody understands. Best teacher ever.
She does drop off a little bit of homework/light coding every week, but I find it amazing how she manages to simplify a lot of the content to something extremely digestible (compared to some other lectures online), and she keeps it consistent and organized. I wish I could download the video lessons, though.
This is my second class with Professor Colman and I highly suggest her for Calculus or Linear Algebra!
Another class with Dr Colman, she is a great professor, I highly recommend her!
Straight forward class. You need to write each week how you solved a problem, that was my favorite part. Quizzes and hw very simple. Crystal clear schedule. I would take her for calculus next!
the least understanding of any professor i've had at wright. didn't care to give any extension or grade even though work was done albeit later than the due date. definitely needs to get her ego in check and stop taking out whatever's going on in her life on students who work full time, care for their family memebers and are trying to just live.
Stand up gal, chill course format. Material gradually gets really hard in this course but it is just such an awesome subject and it has motivated me to pursue math. Her policies are crystal clear. She doesn't put up with nonsense. The course is not too hard, just don't expect an A without a little bit of work and studying.
she def has an ego n seems apathetic, often is very unfriendly & strict in her discussion post responses. has a spanish accent. but the way she teaches in the 14 units is rlly rlly good, i personally only had trouble w JUST 3-3 1/2 out of the 14 units she taught. if u watch her lectures, the hw and dp can be easy. overall good teaching
This professor definitely cares, if you care. She will explain again and again until everybody understand. This is my second class with her. The online organization was fantastic, you always knew what was expected. Best teacher ever.
Loved the course structure! The videos were clear, and the professor spoke slowly, making it easy to follow. Everything needed for homework was in the videos, but I also read the book. I enjoyed the SageMath exercises. The professor responds quickly and reviews the work carefully. If you want to learn, take this course—no shortcuts here!
Professor Colman's engaging teaching style requires active participation, fostering a deep appreciation for Math 146 and 212. She turns challenging topics into exciting problem-solving experiences and provides insightful feedback on weekly discussions. Additionally, she encourages learning LaTeX and Python, further fueling my passion for coding.
Professor Colman's MATH208 class was a great experience. The pre-recorded lectures were super helpful, and Unstuck AI was a lifesaver for practice problems. Participation is key, but the workload is manageable if you stay on top of it. Definitely recommend this class!
Professor Coleman has a nice hypothetical layout for the class. But she's very rigid on getting homework assignments in on time no exceptions. It should be about learning the material not the backwards thinking of hard deadlines or loss in points. Aside from the useless Latex assignments, it's good.
Clearly-structured study plan. Pre-recorded lectures answer almost all questions and the hw doesn't deviate from the material learned during lessons. Important to submit work on time, of which there's adequate amount, not too much. The best math class I've taken and I am not a fan of mathematics at all. I truly enjoyed this class.
Very demanding class but fun! She encourages learning LaTeX and Sage and have the whole class writing amazing papers every week. I was reluctant at first and then amazed at the quality of papers she manages to get from everybody, including myself! I wish I had taken this class earlier.
This class was super organized and very easy to follow. Easy peasy!
I just started, and it's the best class ever. It's super organized, and everything is clear. The forum is super fun.
Great Prof. Very helpful. Very clear explanations and had well prepared lectures. Best prepared online class ever.
