ancient civilization-he is very confusing, doesn't talk about history in. he jumps from topic to topic and goes back to the beginning.if he writes 20 words on the blackboard in the whole semester your lucky. he dictates too fast.
ancient civ. awesome prof. keeps class interesting. just take notes and you'll be fine.
difficult taking notes cuz the prof talks so much. very interesting stuff i did not know b4. he's helpful and fun
HE SEEMS NICE BUT HIS TESTS ARE KILLERS... DOESN'T GRADE EASILY. YOU CANNOT BE ABSENT NO MAKEUP EXAMS. LIKES TO GIVE POP QUIZES... HE IS BORING BUT BETTER THEN MOST OTHER HI110 PROFESSORS... IF U TAKE HIM BE ON YOUR A-GAME OR YOU'LL END UP WITH A D NO MATTER HOW HARD U TRY
All his exams come from his notes. Text was mainly used to answer question on his quiz. He tells you what questions he'll ask, so that should be an easy "A". As for the exams; if you're a good note taker you'll do well in his class. You'll need coffee to keep you awake. Attendance is mandatory if you want a good grade.
awesome prof. His tests are easy as long as you take notes or have a recording device handy. He talks alot but gives alot of good information.
holy crap !! he puts u to sleep.. hes nice in all but he talks and talks doesnt give you 1 mintute to stop yapping.. his quizzes from text and he will give you a 10 page paper to do which makes no sense
great class, awesome professor.
Good professor, funny and not boring like others prefessors.
good class. two exams and quizzes. reading and taking notes a must. talks a lot
DONT TAKE HIM!!!people told me he's a very good professor but now he's changed. he gives way tooo many notes three tests third is a final and doesn't review at all anymore!!!!... He expects you to know everything by the notes you took in his class and by the readings he gives in his books. its horrible and difficult!!!!
DO NOT TAKE HIM! the worst i've had yet. his tests are so hard and very specific, doesn't tell you what to study so theres not review, just gives you pages and pages of notes and goes so fast and he doesn't stop talking. his tests are very specific, some multiple choice and some short answer, but good luck on those! Graded on 3 exams thats it.
good professor. tests are not that hard, he lets u know topics before. fun class
He's a hard grader because he's very specfic. He gives no reviews, and only grades you based on 3 things, 2- exams (which are way to far apart) and 1- 10 page paper which makes no sense. He's rude and lashes out at people when they ask for him to repeat something since he speaks the entire class. I wouldnt recommend him to anyone!! -horrible
good class, good prof. three exams
best professor ever! keeps class interesting nd fun. i strongly recommend him
great class! talks a lot, three exams about class and readings.
he's nice and fun. i recommend this class
Worse Professor ever!
This professor was cool and he made the class fun, but the tests were too long, even though they were easy. I did learn a lot though.
Good professor, helpful, funny, explan alot. but I didn't do well and read the book so i got failed. 4 exams totally , all counted into the final grade. if you fail first two you fail the class. half of people dropped the class at the end of semseter
good prof reviews every class. four exams.must take lots of notes though
Just attend all the sessions. Revised for the following exams. Get the reading done. That's said. Oh,If you can't maintain 11 to 13 pages of notes per session. Well time to get a recorder because this guy talks alot and doesn't repeat.
His class was interesting, but the way he conducts his class is fast paced (he speaks too fast and goes thru the material really fast). His exams are wayy too hard! they are so hard that i had to withdraw. plus, he doesnt give any extra credit
ancient civ 4 exams. a lot of info so note taking a must. the professor talks a lot but reviews often good class
s 4 exams about lecture and reading. reviews hepled me alot every class. great class
Horrible professor doesn't care about students highly do not recommend him. All he does is talk and shows you some pictures his text are mostly open ended question worded awkwardly and he has an accent when he speaks. Don't do this to yourself.
great prof took three classes 4 exams and essays reviews evry class
Best professor. He's hilarious and will pretty much have you all laughing on the first day. Take his class, you wont regret it! Just a heads up, read the reading passages.
His class isn't boring at all, I enjoyed attending. However his tests were so hard, you need to be re-reading your notes 24/7 to get a decent grade. Just there is so much material on his exams that its tricky. I hated the readings too, too hard to comprehend. The professor is cool, his exams will kill your GPA.
Your mind will innately absorb the information that comes from his mouth. Each class he conducted a review of previously discussed topics, topics that from my experience are usually on the exams. Don't be late and you will not miss these sessions, but you won't necessarily fail if you do either. Readings not always covered in class, BUY THE BOOKS.
Best History professor I ever had. He explains everything you need to know for the exams and reviews the info from the previous class before each class, and the questions in the review are always on the tests. You will need the textbook for assigned readings, and note taking is a must, 4 tests, no homework other than reading assignments.
he talks alot ,4 test, vague reviews of previous classes and no test review , the test are to hard because you have to remember a lot of dates . dont take him unless you have 24 hours a day to study
this guy doesnt take attendance. he talks alot and doesnt write much on the board. read the book its your best friend in this class. if your a bad note taker andor too lazy to study dont take his class. he does a review in the beginning of every class which some of these question may end up on the exam.
He is funny, interesting, clear and hot. He is attractive and his accent makes him even hotter!
Very hard class. He isn't the greatest of the bunch hes a hard tester have to memorize alot of the work and read a whole bunch more lectures are boring but he cracks a few jokes here and there. If you study hard and do every reading you will be maybe at a B, but tough class professor is ok not to great
He gives amazing lectures yet this class is not hard because you don't understand the material but because u really gotta study for his test, no joke.u really gotta memorize everything he says, besides he doesn't give multiple choice test!!! which makes things even worse, if you don't like to read don't take his class. if you don't read u will fail
Helmut Loeffler, is a great professor! You can tell he loves his job and always cracks jokes. The book is mandatory because there will be readings from it which are which 20 points on each test. You really need to study for his class but if you come every day and write down what he says you will be just fine.
He's a very good professor. BUY THE BOOKS IF YOU WANT TO PASS!!!! He doesn't take attendance which is okay, but miss a day and you miss everything. Make sure to do the readings because the test are based of that and some of lecture :) Goodluck!!
I did kind of bad in this class only because of I'm a bad reader.
professor acknowledges effort. if you can't study 8 pages of notes for exams, don't even bother. lots of info is thrown at you, but a good grade is possible if you put in the work and study EVERYTHING. miss class and you will miss out on many notes. must be a fast note taker. interesting class; you can see he is passionate about the material.
first few minutes of class he asks questions. MAKE SURE TO NOTE THEM BECAUSE THEY WILL BE ON THE TEST, but they're the only things you need to study to pass! super easy review every class period!
At the beginning I thought this class was my fave this semester and really fun, nice guy. There are 4 tests which determine your entire grade for the class. The tests are extremely difficult. I studied my best and payed attention and still got an F on them. Unless you're very good at memorizing notes and dissecting readings I wouldn't recommend.
I really enjoyed this class. If you're a history buff, you'll enjoy it as well. Lots of note taking and reading are required, though. Slack off and you'll fail. Four exams. If you fail the first two, you might as well drop the class. Sounds tough but, it's all about doing the work. He's a great prof. who loves to see his students do well.
HARDEST PROFESSOR I'VE EVER HAD! A TOOON OF READING , NOTE TAKING AND IT DOES NOT PAY OFF AT THE END. HE IS FUN ONLY DURING LECTURE !
Professor Loeffler is literally the best professor in QCC. When I first took his class, I was sure I was not going to pass because I had no knowledge of greek mythology. However, he made it possible for me to leave the class knowing so much more. Get the books! You won't pass without the reading assignments! Good luck! :)
If you're not an auditory learner then don't take this class. It's mostly taking notes on what he talks and reading his book. He is very smart and funny in class. I enjoyed the knowledge I got from the class. However I had a lot of difficulty studying from only my notes and the book. He has no PP and no homework to study from. Still a great prof.
great lectures and his exams are so forward. if you dont pass or get a good grade its on you, he doesnt over whelm you with work like other teachers do and hes really fair. the material is also very interesting and he makes it easy to remember. i am defff going to be taking him again.
If your taking more than 3 classes i wouldn't recommend he gives way to much books to read. Only 4 quizzes but he expects you to know the littlest details in 600 page books plus the lectures.
didnt really learn much and i went to every single class. poor teaching methods. tells you to study one thing for the exam and then asks something completely different on the actual exam.
i really liked his class the professor was fun. lots of reading, 4 exams but the reviews helped a lot!
I liked the way he taught and explained everything. he's passionate and the exams are straightforward.
He is really nice professor!!! He was willing to help me with my tests and gave me extra credit. I liked the way he taught and explained. Just read the textbook you will pass the exam. He did not take attendance, but his classes help me understand the lectures easier. The book is really easy, even I am not a native speaker I could understand it.
Terrible, everybody in the class studies their brains off and we somehow all managed to fail, more than half the class ended up dropping his class last semester. His 3 hour lectures are once a week and there is a lot of information to process. Save yourself and do NOT take his 3 hour lecture, I rarely drop classes and this was my FIRST to drop.
This has to be on of the best professors at QCC. Hes descriptive, funny, his test are straightforward. A lot of note taking but everything is in the text.
He's a good teacher meaning speaker but as far as the quizzes it's vey hard. If you miss a quiz you get a automatic F. You work your ass off taking notes and reading the texts and still don't pass. You have to take a lot of notes and read the text to pass this class. he doesn't care if you miss class because he doesn't take attendance
Look if you wanna pass pick another teacher. He grades hard and he doesnt care. He didnt give homework or class work and he makes up for all of that in his exams. Trust me dont take him and he dose no type of extra credit or help. And his questions are not straight forward
Overall good teacher. Takes the time to lecture about everything you should know that's important. He's often humorous. Must attend every class and take good notes in preparation to pass tests. If classes are missed info can be easily found in txtbk. That is not to say skip all your classes. 4 tests/25ques each/handwritten answers. Very educational
This class is easy BUT he is a tough grader. It is not worth to take this class for a professor who purposely tries make you fail. I recieved Bs & B+s on all his exams. He still managed to give me a D+ for my OVERALL grade. I still passed but its not good. He is an unreasonable grader & purposely tries to make his tests harder than it really is.
make sure to read his book attendance is a must if you want to pass. I liked the way he taught
You have to work hard to pass this claas. Textbook might help you but don't expect any review sheet from him. There are 4 tests and some of the test will be very hard when you gonna take the test. You have to write lots of notes. Never ever think he will drop the lowest grade.
This professor is great professor but his test are so hard. He discuss in class one thing and in the test come question very hard. Im a hard worker student and I really care about study and my class I take very serious but is hard to see that this professor only get you great for a test. I think he should help more student how he knows good student
These reviews kind of threw me off, but honestly he's not a bad prof. at all! He's hilarious & his lectures would really help break down the material. He doesn't take attendance, but if you want to do well I'd recommend going. Also he doesn't drop lowest test grades & you must study hard to pass this class. But, totally recommend!
If you love history then this class is really good for you. I also love history but answers short answers for 4 exam made me stressed out instead of enjoying this class. I loved the history book professor made himself. Its very easy to read and everything come from the book. If you read the book carefully then you will be fine.
He is a bad professor. Tests and quizzes are unclear and are not as relates as to what is taught in class. Does not write anything on the board and just sits there and talks throughout the lecture and can easily get off topic. Made me miss my exam just cause I was 5 minutes late. Would never recommend to anyone else.
He is not a good professor he talks fast and doesn't really care if students understand his material. If one person gets it he moves on. His test are ok but they are on things he speeds by when teaching. I would not recommend this professor if you have hard time in history.
Bro this professor was the worst i have ever taken. I took his class my last semester there and his tests are so hard, the questions are so vague & he doesnt even give a study guide he just tells us the pages we have to study like other professors i had always gave some sort of study material. You really have to study a lot. Dont take him. RUN!
Upbeat, clear and concise in lectures. Great explainations. History is a tough subject but he makes every effort to help you pass the class. Absolute gem of a professor. Take him.
Really Good Professor. Just take notes from his lecture and you will pass easily
Not a good professor, doesnt help you at all and dont prepare you too well for the exam. You have to teach the stuff yourself from the book. Strongly dont recommend you guys to this professor he is no good
I just finish taking this professor and I must say its one of the best professors at Queensborough just like Jerry Bradley. Professor Helmut makes you like history and relays the information fast and efficient. Gives thorough review before every test .. Loved this class
This professor is not bad, however he gives long boring texts to read which kind of discouraged me to actually try in his class, however if you ask him questions he will answer them to the best of his ability. He does give three exams and a final. Doesnt give review sheets for exams so good luck on studying for it. Make sure and wright everything.
Attendance, not mandatory but need class note to pass his course. Focus on lecture and ready to take note. Also, he post reading online and must read to pass exam. He review what to study before exam but not all the questions. About 1020% of questions are not on review. Detail answers, chance to get partial credit. Very educational and interesting
took his class in college and online. His assignments are accurate with what he tells you. there is no need to purchase a textbook or stress about this class. Easy A if you read / understand it . "A desperate man doesn't go nowhere".
He is very good professor, gives extra credit opportunity which can boost your grade (for example if you get B, with extra credit it will be B+), he makes the lecture very interesting, the test mainly short answer questions all based on readings and discussion in class, but they not very easy so be prepared.
attendance isn't mandatory. the whole class is just him lecturing and u have to take notes urself bc he doesn't write anything down. tests are short answer and ANNOYING. then it was online cuz corona. TESTS WERE TIMED AND LONG. doesn't answer emails and isn't the absolute nicest. final was an essay. annoying class honestly. take if u rlly need to
Professor Loeffler is very kind and knowledgable. He is also very funny. You have to work for your grade
He gives quizzes each weak. It's similar to what the lectures about. But it's a limited time when talking tests and quizzes,.
Professor Loeffler's class is straightforward. Each class we have a quiz of 8 /10 questions which is all based on the last week's topic. Honestly, if you're a lazy student who likes to be coddled like a kindergartner, then this class isnt for you. You have to be great at taking notes & actually pay attention. I have an A so far. Great professor.
hate this class I am regretting after taking him.. please do yourself a favor and not take him he gives quizzes and ask ridiculous stupid questions on quizzes and give 10 mint for 15 questions
He is okay but his exams and quizzes are limited time. His grading is unfair. The final was 20 questions and 13 minutes. He is actually quite rude too. I would not recommend this Professor.
Awesome prof. He grades you based only on quizzes and Exams.I passed his exams and quizzes by the readings that he give's to us, I didn't really listened much to his lectures because of time. If you fail, that is really on you. The reason why he gives lesser time on exams is because he doesn't want anyone to cheat. Simple. Very caring.
The work isn't as bad BUT he barely gives us time to answer each question thoroughly b/c he don't want nobody to cheat which is understandable but cmon dude like -_- do you expect us to know these answers a minute a question???? on top of that if you had problems with the device your using and couldn't get a hold of the quiz/tests he WONT CARE.
Do not take this professor, it is impossible to complete the weekly quizzes. He literally just reads slides to the class, then has the audacity to go over the allotted 3 hours!!! DO NOT TAKE HIM
if you can't work under pressure this isn't for you, your quizzes are timed less than the questions you have to answer, one question per minute basically, if you having difficulties (its not his problem it's yours) be prepared to look at images rather than actual notes, WRITE DOWN WHAT YOU HEAR!!!, and essays need to be "perfection"
One of the best professors Ive had hes very clear on what he wants, there are weekly quizzes, and the quizzes and exams are timed. two essays
His lecture undoubtedly professional. Personally, he is not that interactive with students in class. Perhaps not much interaction be needed in history class. Perhaps each professor has his own style and personality. Overall, he is my mentor, It was right from him that I learned about ancient history and got a macro level of ancient civilization.
He is chill. Just take good notes. He is specific about dates. He is funny and friendly. He gives chances and offers extra credit. Be respectful of him and he will do the same.
He's a bit serious but overall very clear and organized. He does not require attendance , However he knows we are adults and if you care then you will come. He does not require homework, but there are quizzes at the end of each class. He will also provide you with the reading of that specific lecture day very helpful. He drops 3 of ur lowest grades.
History at QCC is unnecessary hard, Prof. Loeffler is a gem in the dept who is just straight forward, quiz and exam is based on notes multiple choice and simple essay.
just finished summer class with this prof. great lectures lots of timed quizzes like everyday few short essays reviews helped
Short timed quiz every week, you'll be good as long as you pay attention to the lectures and the assigned reading. Very straight forward with grading.
He was a very good professor and his lectures were very interesting although his quizzes are decent but you need to review and study for them.
Loeffler is a great professor. He makes it VERY easy to pass and to have a good grade. He makes the lectures fun and interesting. Honestly this class is an easy credit. Exams and quizzes are so light.
Would definitely take his class again, yes there a always pop quizzes but they are pretty easy. Just review the reading take short notes. Quizes are 10 questions pretty easy.
I took him because of the reviews but def a difficult class, you have to take 10 questions in 8 minutes each week, about the lecture and if you copy it to Word, it's like 16 pages, with no makeups, 3 bad grades drop, the test is 20 questions with 16 minutes, you have to take the test or quizzes when he opens it or you get an F. he's chill tho.
Such a fun Professor! I learned so much and had such a fun time every class. There are 10 question quizzes every class on the previous lecture, and sometimes an exam of 20 questions. One essay for the final, and other than that just a reading per lecture that is medium length! Pay attention and do the readings and you're golden! Take his class!
If you care about your grades or GPA at all avoid this professor. If you don't click on his quiz 3 minutes tops after it's available the quiz closes with no chance for you to make it up. He also dismisses students concerns when you bring it up. I can't explain more because of the word limit but just avoid this professor if you can.
Very good, knowledgeable professor who is interested in the subject matter and wants you to learn. pop up quizzes suck you have to take them when he makes them available. so attendance matters
Professor Loeffler is a great teacher, tries to keep things fun and interesting, and definitely knows what he's talking about. I definitely recommend taking his classes because they are so interesting and not too hard.
The professor is pretty chill. TEXTBOOK is FREE. It's interesting to read, even if you're not a reader, all the answers in the exams are in the textbook and it's pretty easy if you memorize the time period and what happen there. Everything is in person, attendance is important. If you read the text book then you will do well, if not, you know.
HORRIBLE. Funny and nice guy and his lectures were interesting.but he has no empathy, doesnt care if you cant access the quizzes online due to internet issues in the building that arent your fault, wont answer a single email EVER, and doesnt let you make up work no matter what.he is not helpful and doesnt care about his students whatsoever
Professor Loeffler is a great teacher! Definitely would take him again
He is a really great teacher. He makes class really interesting and fun. The work isnt hard, but you have to know what youre doing in order to get a good grade.
The grading is based on couple quiz and exam, exam is basically quiz with 2 times question. Most answer to question will be found in textbook, so read carefully. During the course, you should always think about how would you explain any section of this course to a stranger who lack of knowledge about history.
Not forgiving whatsoever.
Professor Loeffler keeps the class engaging and makes history interesting. The workload is manageable, but attending lectures and doing the readings are key. I found Unstuck ai helpful for quick study prep between classes.
Explains history problems very well and makes it seem so effortless
Miss one test and you automatically failed the course, no extra credit or makeup possible, lecture is long and boring, prepare to write 5 pages of note every class….
Very lecture heavy, although if you know what questions are going to be on the test, (he usually reviews what will mostly be on the test at the beginning of class), then you should be good. He makes learning about history somewhat fun. Do note, there is no extra credit and don't miss a quiz.
Chill professor! Everything you need to be prepared for exams are all from his lectures. Definitely don't miss a class because he doesn't post anything online. Utilize his free textbook to help with reviewing what was covered in person. His lectures were pretty fun and he has a good way of keeping you entertained while learning!
Very wierd way to conduct a course, gives a 5 minute window to join the quizzes/exams. Does not offer any makeups/ alternate assignments to help get your grade back on track no matter how genuine the reason. Entire grade tanks if you mess up/ miss any quiz.
Really smart and dedicated to history Very kind and understanding professor who made sure his students understood the material. The class was made well and his lectures were pretty entertaining for the topic. He was also a generous grader w/ extra credit.
