One of the nicest professors I've ever had. However, very unorganized and there is a little bit of a language barrier. He is always willing to clarify any unclear material, but you must be willing to put in extra effort in order to pass the class.

He is such a nice and sweet guy! He really loves Beyonce and Madonna. He is fair and the quizzes really help in studying for the exam. He is always there to help and one of the best bio teachers. SOOO NICE!

I would have to say that as a science major, I have taken many science courses that are extremely boring. However, Hema makes the class very interesting as well as informative. He definitely makes an effort to ensure that you succeed in his course! It's not as easy A, but if you put forth the effort you will do well.

Hema's great. Really nice guy, pretty straight forward & always willing to help if u have questions. Attendance isn't mandatory, but it'd be wise to attend as he gives pointers on what's important to know for the exams/practicals. I found the material to be relatively easy & straight forward.

Lectures can be disorganised and classes rarely start on time, but he is a very helpful and accessible teacher with a fun attitude and sense of humour. Labs were fun, exams were fair. Lots of quizzes, which were VERY helpful in studying for exams and final. Mandatory comprehensive final exam.

He does have a thick accent but you get used to it, not too hard to understand, has power point slides but notes from white board is sufficient.

Don't buy the textbook though- I didn't even open mine. Comprehensive final but it is just a build up of all the previous tests. Awesome, funny guy!

A GREAT professor! He is always there to help you improve and to answer any questions you have. He lets you drop two quizzes in replace of a higher grade, but no extra credit. He also is very flexible with homework due dates which is very nice if you forget something. I HIGHLY recommend you take a class with him!

I don't know anything about cellular respiration or DNA but he sure is hot! I just spent the whole class period gazing into his eyes as he spoke. BEST TEACHER EVER!!!

It is a bio class, you kinda have to work for your grades no matter who you have. But Hema is the best instructor i've had at PCC. He's funny and cares about how well his students do.

He is by far the most helpful biology teacher you can take. He want's you to suceed and do great in his class. Each week you have a quiz but he prepares you for it. he goes over the material before a test to make sure you understand and if you don't know ask him he will help. TAKE HIM HE IS THE BEST!!!

Had Hema for two semesters and wouldn't regret taking them again. He's a little difficult to understand but if you ask questions, he'll guide you to the right answers. Other than being hilarious, Dr. Hema is a great professor. Someone mentioned on here that he says "you don't need to know this" a lot but to be honest that helps students not stress over pointless stuff. Be warned, sometimes class go behind (most of the time, it was the class BEFORE his that went behind making our class start late) if you need to leave early, just talk to him. Always ready to help his students. Lectures are a little thin and should be supplemented with the textbook to gain a full understanding. Slight language barrier that can detract from communication, but none the less he will continue to explain until the point has been clearly received.

He gives test corrections and will give 50% of the points back, that's a plus. He's a very difficult grader and if you don't put down EXACTLY what he says word for word, it's wrong. It doesn't matter if what you say also applies. His lectures are straight forward and he'll tell you what you need to know for quizzes and exams.

Never have I witnessed a more dedicated Professor. He explains in great detail and allows numerous make up opportunities throughout the course, such as providing test corrections. Tests can be a little challenging, but majority of the material comes from the pop quizes. He's also extremely hilarious. Put in the effort and you'll surely get an A.

Hema is a great professor with a sense of humor! The content for the class was a little difficult, especially because there are a couple practicals with microscopes, but as long as you study and take good notes you will do well. Hema is very willing to help his students understand the content to succeed, plus he let us redo a couple of tests.

Hema is such a great instructor! He truly cares about his students and always makes time to answer questions or go over things you may be struggling to understand. He also goes over the exam questions, especially the ones that many missed, and thoroughly explains the answers. I wish I would've taken BIO 181 with him as well!

He is the only professor who knew how to transition into online learning. His course was engaging and the work load was not ridiculous. As long as you review the quizzes you will do well on the exams *hint, hint*. He grades homework for completion not accuracy per se. Mastering Lab homework is easy. I made sure he was my BIO182 prof next semester.

Going to be brutally honest, Mr. Bandaranyake isn't the greatest teaching professor, but his personality makes up for it. He's one of the kindest professors I've ever had, his quizzes and tests are easy, sometimes he uses the same questions from the quizzes on the exams. I recommend this class if you are looking for an easy A.

Best biology instructor ever. Professor Bandaranayake made everything easy to understand by breaking it down and answering everyone's questions. All of the exam questions are taken straight from either the lessons or the optional practice on D2L, so go and do those and you're basically guaranteed a good grade.

Professor Hema truly loves teaching ! He took time to thoroughly explain any questions and would give excellent feedback to make sure you retained the information. Professor H is a great teacher, who keeps you involved and interested on the content by providing great real life scenarios. He is a very old-fashioned teacher, meaning he does not give out a lot of extra credit, no retaking exams, expects you to study, and read. You will learn from taking his courses, so not an easy A, genuinely a great teacher.

A great experience to be in his biology class, the flow of his lesson is spectacular, easy to understand and always gets straight to the point. Flexibility and clearness about due dates and how to do certain assignments is very present.

18-Week Course. I highly recommend Hema's class. To excel, it's important to stay on track with assignments and thoroughly study the lecture material for the weekly quizzes. Make sure you are constantly taking time to study/understand quizzes/exams since the final will cover all of the previous questions. The class is excellent and worth taking.

Mr. Hema is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He is sweet and passionate about the class. His experience is noticeable and he has great real life examples and stories about Bio stuff. I absolutely love Hema, he is an amazing teacher who is cares about the subject he is teaching. He is always there to give you feedback and answer your questions. Although class might not be mandatory, it is very important to be there anyways just so you do better on tests and build a relationship with the teacher. I loved taking him while at Pima!
