I took her online class and I can honesetly say I didn't learn much. Her grading was super easy with very little (if any) feedback. If you want an easy A and don't care about English, take this class; but other than that, choose someone else.

I didn't learn much as far as reading and writing go, but that's just because I'm a genius. It was very easy for me--which usually makes school boring--but Henny made it fun. She does a lot of class discussions about current issues so it's cool. If V01A is just a roadblock in your way, definitely take this class.

I LOVED HER!!! She was very helpful in teaching and you can learn something. She made writing very fun. She really does look at how you write and help you write better. I can't wait to take the B class with her. I give her an A+!!!

Excellent teacher! I would highly recommend her. I learned so much in her class. All her assignments are worthwhile and teach you something, its not just busy work. She's very helpful. She's friendly and very cool. She knows a lot about the subject and it shows through her teaching. you can tell she loves what she does.

I liked her as my English teacher. I leadn a lot from her. If you ned help she will help if you need it. There is a lot of reading for her class. You have to do 4 essays for the class. I you go to class and do the work you can get an A or B from her.

Henny is the GREATEST TEACHER EVER! I loved this class. A lot of reading and writing which took a lot of time to complete compared to other classes, but that is ok because I had a lot of fun anyway. Very Highly recommended.

Internet class: Took more than one month to return papers! That made it very hard to do better on essays. (3 major essays, midterm and final, and 500 word discussions every week) Also, lots of reading and writing. More work than I thought it would be. A hard class for 1B compared with other teachers.

Ms. Kim is the best English teacher ever. She is very helpful in essays, witch we only wrote 4, and she makes you think in a whole different view. The midterm is kind of difficult cause we were timed and the topic was a little hard to think of. overall she is a good teacher to take. She says the truth, plus she always gave us snacks during class.

I put 3 on easiness since English Lit requires a lot of reading and writing. She replies all the time to inquiries and is very nice. The only negative thing about her is she grades stuff late. Overall, I would recommend anyone to take her, in-class or on-line.

Easy discussion points as long as they are posted before or on due date and are in correct spelling and grammar. Number of posts must also be satisfied. The negative thing about this professor is that she grades stuff late. I would still recommend others to take her. 2 essays, 1 midterm (all short answered), and a 3rd final essay.

Highly recommend taking Henny's class she is very helpful and understanding. Your grade consists of computer lab assignments a midterm and a final and 3 essays which she will grade even if they're late. Also if you score a higher grade on the final she will replace the midterm grade

By far the best English teacher I have come across at VC! She is the most down-to-earth, is very funny, and is good at breaking stuff down. There are very few times you are left wondering what she is expecting of you. Gives writing assignments that are on topics you'll most likely find easy to write about. Make sure to check the handout weekly.

Great class and teacher! There are weekly discussions (worth 40% of your grade) and 4 essays (worth 60% of your grade). All of our assignments are from the textbook. Gives you a week to complete and respond to discussions. Essay due dates vary, but she provides all the course work and calendar of when assignments are due so there are no surprises.

professor Kim is super helpful often funny but be prepared to have a lot of writing assignments besides essays and be prepared to read them aloud to the class she always has you read your writing to the class which I didnt like participation is big for her

Can be a real funny professor as long as you do your work and put in effort on the papers. Lots of writing, obviously... it is an english class. She will really help you improve your writing over the course of the class.

She is the sweetest teacher ever. She is really good at what she teaches, and gives good feedback. I got better at my writing in this class. Just do the work and show up to class and you'll get a good grade.

Professor Kim is intelligent, affable, and clearly cares about her work and her students. Her class is designed in a way that will definitely improve your writing abilities provided that you put in some effort. Most of her assignments are done in class and can't be made up so it's not a class you can skip. Would recommend.

Professor Kim is an amazing instructor! Definitely try and take her she will help you develop your writing skills. Be ready to read the chapters she assigns you because she does call on random students to summarize the article. Only assigns 4 essays that start off short and turn into 6-8 pages. She allows for you to work on your essays during class

Professor Kim is the cutest! She definitely loves to have her students participate in lectures. And I recommend you bring up good topics, because she can go on about them. Professor Kim is a tough grader, but she is always willing to help. If you just show up to class, stay through the entire time, and do the class work you'll easily pass.

Professor Kim was a great English professor! She assigns papers every now and then but they're super easy and won't take long to get done. Laugh at her jokes and you might get extra credit, also you might get EC if you tell a joke to the class.

Henny Kim-Ortel was a great teacher. It's not an easy class but I really enjoyed it overall. Our class was small so it allowed us to form a little family for the semester which was super cool. She's silly at times which lightens the mood. The only downside is all the busy work, not hard, but a ton of reading and writing. Overall great teacher.

Be prepared to read the assigned books and do assignments throughout the semester, V01B is not just about writing essays.

BEST ENGLISH TEACHER AT VC Professor Henny's class was focused on improvement for writing through metacognition. She is very understanding and truly cares for her students. Its important to participate and be involved and actually learn and absorb the assignments. For an english writing class we had 4 essays in total. Eager to go to class everyday

I took this Online class and it was an easy A. It isn't one of those classes where you just show up and get an A. The online class consist of 5 essays total. Also, there were 5 easy discussion assignments for each essay. I would strongly suggest taking her class. The due dates were reasonable and allowed you time to finish the work.

Amazing professor! Cares about her students. Likes participation in class. She makes us have a learning journal, which is required, and there is a total of four submissions for that. Lots of timed essays + 3-4 major essays through out the semester. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Accepts late work, very lenient. Also a hybrid class.

This class is very easy as long as you get the work done. She gives discussions almost every day but it is an easy A as long as you don't slack off. She is very lenient with late work.

Prof. Kim is a good teacher. I took her online so I never got to meet her. 2 discussions every week, 5 papers, and 5 peer reviews. She grades on length of essay always write the max. page requirements. Discussions are easy and reading is paced out well. She gives everyone the same comments when she grades the discussions. Overall, pretty average.

I took Writing While Mindful at VC, I enjoyed it thoroughly! Prof. Kim-Ortel is kind-spirited, encourages honest writing, + gives exceptional feedback. I highly recommend taking her class. I always recommend her to my friends. She grades fairly and is helpful when you have questions or concerns. She is also super understanding.

Henny gives opportunities for extra credit, I got extra credit because of how well written my essay was. She was extremely understanding when I was sick and in the hospital. She gives amazing feedback and her topics are very easy going, peer reviews are very easy and quick to get done.

Summer class was intense but the professor was excellent in organizing canvas class and great feedback, which she graded everything the next day. She was really nice and responded to all of my emails.

Such an easy A. Just do the assignments and you're all good. I got A's on all of the essays (my writing is so bad, so I was low-key surprised). As long as you follow the essay's prompts, you're good. Lots of discussions though.

She is an awesome professor. She taught me how to correctly imply the MLA format and how to cite proper sources, which my English 101A teacher has not mentioned to me at all. She provides very helpful feedback. Lots of discussions, just like in any other English writing class. There are also 3 papers, which are pretty easy if you have an idea.

I would take this class again if I had too ! She's the best English Teacher that I had in a while; her essay are super easy I usually got 90-100. She gave me the confidence to write my essay by giving me good feedback on all of them. She see's potential in her students and encourages as well ! She's very caring and nice !

Very relaxed class with 1-2 discussions per week. Gives great feedback on all discussions and essays. Accepts any and all late work. Very accommodating. 3 essays in total (max 7-8 pages). Very easy grader and as you long as you do all the discussions and score decently on the essays, you should get a A or B.

Professor Kim-Ortel is an incredible instructor and one of my favorites so far! I took V36 Women in Lit and, although a lot of work, it was my favorite class. She clearly has passion and interest in her work and shows so much respect and care for her students. She gives amazing and very thorough feedback on every single assignment. Take her course!

There was one assignment a day, either a discussion or an essay/peer review. The articles were interesting and engaging. She graded really fast and was lenient on late work.

I took the 4-week summer course. The first week didn't have any papers due, just discussion posts. After that, there are three papers and weekly discussions. It's manageable as long as you stay dedicated.

Professor Kim-Ortel is an amazing instructor. She encourages students to do their best and grades assignments based on effort and growth, not perfection. She truly cares about her students. Prior to enrolling, I felt like writing and reading weren't my strengths. After completion, I was able to redefine my relationship with both.
