She is a great lecturer. Very clear and gives ample time to take notes. Very understanding and approachable and has a good sense of humore.
Has the maturity level of a teenager, which was appropriate for the class (Adolescent Psych) but was horribly painful to listen to during the adolescent sexuality lecture. She couldn't stop giggling. Very simple woman with (luckily) simple expectations.
Great teacher. Fun lectures. She likes to give in-class assignments. I highly recommand her.
Very interesting lecture, kept us engaged at all times...i would recommend her to anyone.
Just silly!
Interesting and clear lectures...dont expect to be able to coast through. Considerable amount of out of class homework
amazing teacher
Interesting lectures. She's good at breaking up monotony by throwing in really interesting/funny clips. Would highly reccomend her.
Talked about her daughter all the time and sometimes made it seem like she was better than everyone else by condecending us!!!
She was awesome at letting us know what would be on a test and her expectations. Very approachable and interesting! I would definitely take another class taught by her!
I loved her. Very sweet lady, and a good professor. She's really fun. If you like Psych, I recommend taking one of her classes for sure.
So, she is really nice. Her lectures are great. The tests=difficult. Curve? NOP!
Great teacher - try to take her if possible
Very nice professor and makes her lectures interesting. The tests are a little hard but the study guides do help. I'd take another class taught by her.
She was very clear in her lectures, she is a very sweet lady and she is very down-to-earth. Take her class
She is a great professor. I have a three hour lecture with her and she makes time go by fast cause she is pretty funny. She's a really sweet lady and very helpful. Her tests are somewhat difficult but the studyguides are a great help.
She was an amazing teacher. She related the subject to things we all knew about and did a lot of group activities to try to keep us all interested and interacting with others. I would definitely take another class with her!
Yeah she's ****, anti-Christian, and anti-Republican, but God bless her, she does her best to politicize the classroom!
I put her helpfulness so low because she has a definite bias towards women. She seems to think little boys are violent monsters while little girls are just perfect angels!
She is a very sweet lady. She is very easy to understand and her lectures are very clear and she bases much of her tests off of these and research studies. First professor that has actually tried and succeeded at knowing the people of a huge lecture section.
Amazing Teacher. Helpful, Clear, Easy To Understand. She Throws In Little Antecdotes To Make You Laugh. The Video Clips She Finds Helps Break Up The Class And You Can Always Get A Good Laugh From A Lot Of Them. One Of My Top Professors, I Hope To Have Many More Classes With Her.
I would recommend going to the lectures, she makes these lecture guides and then all you have to do is fill it in when she covers it in class. It makes it very easy to study for tests because almost all of the material is from those study sheets that you do in lecture. Reading should be optional, because she tells you what info you need from the bo
I loved this class. Between her and adam i learned a lot, and they always used lots of different teaching tools to make the class interesting. Midway they asked for evaluations and actually inplemented our suggestions! I plan to take another class from her next year, would definitely reccommend.
She is the cutest thing ever. need to go to class or you will miss what she says in lecture/test material. interesting and relatively easy
She's awesome! Great teacher, interesting and pretty easy class. I would definitely go to lectures unless you have a friend to exchange notes with... Discussion sections are super easy, just show up and get 5pts! Reading from book is helpful but not necessary (wait for study guide she tells you page #s to read!)
Great teacher!! So interesting and presents the information in a way that keeps audience engaged. Class isnt mandatory, however, small assignments are giving that result in 2 or 3 points, therefore going to class is beneficial. STRONGLY RECOMMEND THIS CLASS.
Easy class. She was a good prof, but at times got boring and went on tangents. If you attend class and read the book you can get an easy A.
She's a good teacher, she makes lecture interesting by adding video clips and funny comics!
Extremely helpful teacher. Clear, concise lectures with appropriate testing material. She gives lecture outlines, so you DO have to go to class, but they are very useful when studying for exams. Her class is as easy as you make it!
the teacher so nice, i took her class twice.
Took both child and adol psych with her. She is a VERY sweet woman, cares a lot about the students. BUT in both classes, she had way too hard of a time controlling the class. She is TOO nice to the point where idiots take advantage. People never shut up, despite her trying. I thought it was just child psych, so I took Adol w/ her. Same thing. Sad.
She is really nice and cares about the students. Her lectures never really got boring, and the tests were very easy if you took the time to do the long review sheets that she makes prior to exams.
Love this teacher! i took child psych with her and loved it so much i took adol. psych. The class can be difficult if you dont take the time to work, but if you follow her suggestions and use good study habits you will surely succeed. i found her assignments and her testing fair and appropriate. I strongly recommend this teacher!
Good teacher she's pretty funny and lectures are relatively interesting, tests suck though study guide is useless.
Henriette is amazing! For such a sweet, soft-spoken woman she curses a lot and is absolutely hilarious when you least expect it. The subject matter is really interesting and if you put in the time to fill out the study guide, tests aren't very difficult. Highly recommend CPSY 2301 and PSY 4303!
Henriette is the best!! She jokes a lot in class and is absolutely hilarious. She gives you lecture outlines so all you have to do is show up and copy down what's on the board. Tests are not too difficult if you do the study guides and reading and review your notes. Definitely take this class!
VERY interesting prof and class! I would definitely recommend this! Very fair tester and lectures were never boring:)
Henriette is such a sweet woman and tries to improve your course performance as much as possible - she gives you all the resources to do well, you just need to use them! The critque grading was a little annoying and unrealistic. The exams were extremely fair! Overall, this class had a fair grading system and was great! !
Unbelievable professor. Crystal clear explanations and stimulates your interest every class. Tests are all from lecture so just go and enjoy her lectures = easy A.
LOVED her as a professor. she made going to class enjoyable and i didn't make waking up early to go to her lectures. you can tell she really loves what she does. i would recommend her to anybody!
She is a great professor. She is very helpful and posts up study guides for each lecture online. She is very friendly and she always can put things into the easiest to understand language.
Best professor ever! Convinced me to change my major and now she's my advisor. Easy, interesting class. Warren makes class fun and worth going to. Definitely take this class!
She is a great professor, keeps your attention in class and makes anything tricky a little easier. I'd recommend taking one of her classes.
Class is okay and Warren is alright, but she can get pretty annoying. My main problem was with horrible TA's. Their grading on the papers is RIDICULOUS. Momo and Abbey were terrible graders and treat you like you're a child. Out of all my years at the U, I've never had such a problem with someone's grading (and it sucks that it's with lowly TA's).
I would agree with the previous poster that the TAs' grading was really weird and inconsistent, and they didn't leave appropriate comments on papers. But this can be solved by talking to the professor. Overall great class!
Her classes were interesting and fun, and my TA was always willing to help. The research papers are somewhat difficult, but if you do the readings, the exams aren't hard and neither is the class. I'd recommend her class, and wish I could have her as my professor again. And her TA Ashley was phenomenal
She was a great professor! She was very well organized, lectures were always interesting, and you can tell she actually cares about her students. To do well in the class, you will have to attend lecture, although it's not mandatory. I also suggest reading the textbook and articles assigned. They're not bad at all as long as you keep up with them.
Great professor. Lectures were easy to follow and were interesting. Keep up with the work and you will do fine. TA's were all very good. This class decided my major.
She is a wonderful professor! Extremely organized with lots of examples to illustrate the concepts. Very helpful whenever you have a question and very approachable.
Very helpful!
Henriette is very nice and informed on the subject. She tries to back what she says with research and is usually pretty good about presenting a non-biased viewpoint. She encourages class discussion a lot.
Henriette was one of the best professors I've had so far at the U. Her lectures are extremely easy to follow and they are very interesting. The tests are easy as long as you do the study questions and go over the outlines. I would definitely recommend getting to know her- it will help you out at the end of the semester if you've missed classes!
She is a very nice lady, and I've gotten a lot of great information from her. However, her tests are the most wordy things ever, and very few did well on them in my class. You really need to prepare for the tests, more then you think!
Lectures are very clear and easy to follow. She gives a lot of information in lecture that is relevant to the exams. You can tell she knows what she is talking about, and will always answer questions when you have them. Exams aren't too hard, as long as you've gone to the lectures. Other than that, not too much work throughout the semester.
She was pretty rad, there to answer questions if you needed them
Henriette was great! She was always very conscientious about answering students questions and she always came prepared for class. She makes class very interesting and fun. Her tests were pretty easy as long as you went to lectures and you took the notes and did the review questions at the end of each packet. I highly recommend her!!
Make sure to study for the tests, she makes them quite thorough. She is passionate about what she teaches and its apparent that she wants her students to succeed. She doesn't like technology (lap tops, phones), so be prepared to write your notes down! She does provide worksheets to help with this.
Henriette is awesome! Definitely one of my favorite professors. Every class I've had with her has been fun and engaging. She makes these super nice outlines for every lecture so instead of scrambling to write down notes, you can actually pay attention.
I would recommend her to anyone interested in child psych! Her lectures are interesting and she shows a lot of helpful video clips. She's great about answering any questions students have. If you read the textbook and study the review questions at the end of the lecture outlines you'll be more than prepared for the tests. Easy A if you do the work.
Really enjoyed her class. She is very clear when presenting material & if you had extra questions she always made sure to answer them. Tests are wordy, but if you read & paid attention in lecture then they aren't bad. Papers are easy & not too long. I didn't print lecture guides, just wrote notes & it worked well for me. Overall, pretty easy class
I really like Prof. Warren. I'm not a CPSY major, and I've always gotten above the class average on my test scores for her class, so they're not bad at all. I also don't use the textbook, just my lecture notes. Very fair grader and has clear expectations. Not a ton of work- just show up to class and do your papers to get a good grade. Recommend.
Henriette was the best lecturer I've had at the U. Her lectures are extremely clear and flow nicely. If you don't attend lecture, you probably will not be successful in the class. The three exams aren't too bad if you pay attention and review your notes. She makes Child Psych so interesting, and I really enjoyed lecture with her.
Love her, very passionate about what she does.
Warren gives such great lectures. If you don't attend them though, you won't do well on the tests. Over half the tests are made up of material from lectures. She gives you lecture outlines you can buy so you can easily follow through and take down notes, so helpful! Definitely recommend!
Prof Warren is super great, her lectures are really clear and she makes even basic topics interesting. I strongly recommend getting the notes outline that the bookstore sells. The only difference between 3301 and 2301 is two papers that aren't that hard. Definitely recommend this class and this prof!
She's a very dedicated lecturer. Very knowledgeable and great at delivering the materials. She gave a lot of examples and presented lots of video in class, which I have always found it to be entertaining somehow. Her exams are all MCQ with several tricky questions. but if you pay attention& really study frm her notes you will do fine.
The exam material is essentially the textbook's outline of studies and some vocabulary. The only questions that come from the actual class are questions about in-class videos. I personally thought she was kind of insensitive and didn't really care about her students, but all in all, she's an alright teacher. Also, read assigned texts before class.
Child Psychology itself is a very interesting class, but if you have the option, take it with Professor Warren. She makes all lectures very interesting and engaging and is absolutely hilarious. She is awesome at explaining things that seem unclear and is truly a great person.
Henriette is a kind instructor, but her approach may not be for everyone. Her lectures/discussions can be didactic and oddly conservative. For discussion based classes, your absence will cost you points. Expect to read a lot of articles, 50 or so pages a week.
Read the textbook and answer the review questions as you go throughout the semester or else you will get way behind. The lecture was pretty interesting, but discussion sections were pointless and attendance was taken. Henriette Warren has very well-planned out lectures, and she offers a lecture outline book you can buy so you take far less notes.
Loved being in professor Warrens class! Her lectures are amazing and she's super caring and funny. Every single lecture I looked forward to going to.
Great professor! Super easy and interactive lectures that you will use a guide to follow which is extremely nice. Easy to get points and the tests are mostly straight from the lectures.
Really good lectures, make sure to get the course packet. Read the textbook throughout the semester to make it easier on yourself. Really love that she provides a study guide and I really suggest you use that. Pretty tough grader for homework especially. They're only 4 points each but she's pretty picky about it. Overall I loved her and her classes
75% of the grade is based on three exams that are 50 multiple-choice questions.
Warren is probably the best professor I've ever had. Her classes are not easy but you will learn a LOT and have fun doing it. Extremely well-organized, interesting, and funny lectures. I looked forward to coming to class. Exams are difficult but fair. You'll have to actually know the material to do well. Definitely take a class with her if you can.
Warren is a great professor! The class isn't just common sense when it come's to exams. I personally found the book to be super helpful when it came to the 3 reflection papers and preparing for the exams. Totally just my opinion however, I knew plenty of people who never used to the book at all and still passed.
Henriette is by far my favorite professor here at the U. She is funny and her lectures are very easy to understand because she provides so many examples for each concept. She really makes coming to lecture worth it. Some test questions you only knew by showing up to class and listening. Has a course packet which is really helpful for note taking.
Even if you have really great points, if you did not reference enough from the course reading and course packet, you can expect a low grade for your paper. You can often see questions in the exam about those little stories that she told in the class.
Provides a course pack that allows you to "fill in the blank" during lectures. Can often present a limited worldview. Does not require much critical thinking, sadly, but is a kind instructor. Gives "in-class exercises" to check for attendance, but you can miss a number of them without diminishing your grade.
Professor Warren has been one of my favorite teachers here at the U. Shes very nice and approachable. Lectures are interesting and easy to follow. She also provides a note guide that goes along with lectures and has review questions for study purposes. So long as you follow along in class and skim through the readings the tests are not difficult.
Absolutely wonderful. I really enjoyed her class and hope to have her as a professor again.
She's alright. She is very nice, knowledgable on the subject, and happy to answer any questions. I did not like the fill-in-the-blank booklet she had. It made taking notes much less engaging, and she flew through the lectures so quickly that it was difficult to retain information. Definitely not a difficult class, but it can be a bit challenging.
I really enjoyed her lectures, but you do have to show up and pay attention since she uses the examples in the lecture on the exam. Can be a tough grader, especially on papers.
Very invested in the topic. Interesting to listen too
Henriette is an amazing professor!!! Lectures are super interesting, and she is clearly passionate about the subject. She even gives you a note taking book where you just fill in the blanks. Test are easy if you review the notes and review questions. Love love love Henriette!
Lectures are interesting and you're given a note taking packet where you just fill in the blanks so it's easy to follow along! Tests can be quite challenging even after extensively reviewing the material. Short answers on the exams can be graded quite harshly depending on your TA. Henriette is very sweet and always willing to meet outside of class!
Overall a good teacher! The tests are all multiple choice and have about 2 questions directly from the textbook so you can get away without reading it generally. A few papers but the concept of them is easy and her and the TAs tend to be easier graders. Attendance is taken one time per week through an ICA.
Henriette as well as my discussion TA Monica made my time in this class incredibly difficult. This class was based mostly on three tests and three paper assignments. The paper assignments were graded very harshly, and did not help my grade at all. This class was stressful and just annoying to take honestly. I wasn't a fan of Henriette or her TA.
I am currently enrolled in her class and she is a great professor and does a great job lecturing. This class is very content heavy and the exams can be difficult. The TA that I have is a very harsh grader and does an awful job teaching the information and answers questions poorly.
Henriette is a good professor. ICA's are in class, so be present in class. You get all your notes from class so go to class. The class can be challenging. Henriette sometimes speeds through a lot of things so make sure to slow her down. Discussion is not that helpful tbh, but the class is interesting. Her teaching is not that confusing.
I loved her as a professor! She is super funny and shows a lot of videos that help you understand what she is talking about! She also gives you a note-taking guide (you have to buy it) that helps you take notes and follow along with her lectures. This is a great course and a great teacher. She loves when students ask questions.
You can tell that Warren is passionate about what she teaches! I found her lectures super funny and interesting. Her note taking guide lets you focus on what she was saying instead of frantically taking notes. The only complaint I have of this class was the extremely tedious grading by the TA. However, the TA was kind and approachable.
Professor Warren was a great professor and I loved her class. The material was interesting, which made the tests and studying not too bad. There are a few essays and a few big exams, but if you go to class and pay attention you'll do well. The only thing I did not like were the TA's. They were quite unapproachable and were very picky graders.
Pretty interesting lectures and she is super nice!
Enjoyed the class. Helpful prof. I learned quite a bit in this class.
Pretty easy class overall. Henriette gives you a fill in the blank notes sheet for lectures which is super helpful. The study guides for each chapter are also greta ways to make the tests feel a lot easier. Participation is graded through in class activities a few times a week.
The quizzes are only on the textbook. The lecture notes are almost never on the quizzes and exams, which is frustrating. However, the class isn't too difficult. It is definitely interesting! Papers are graded harshly.
I can't give a great review because I had her during Zoom University times, but I really liked her based on the interactions via Email that I had with her. It would have been fun to have been in person with her! The only thing I was kind of annoyed about was the textbook was extremely repetitive. You almost knew what they'd say about the topics.
Amazing- I recommend to everyone I meet!
She seems like a nice person but her class was way too hard for a 2000 level. Quizzes are specific questions from the textbook. Barely any lecture notes or quizzes are on the exam. Few people actually got 15/15 on the discussions. Papers are also graded harshly. Not worth it. Find a different professor.
She is one of the hardest professors I have ever taken. Her quizzes were open notes and took hours to complete but we only got 75 min for the exams. Papers and discussions were graded harshly. Everything was specifically from the textbook which was like 1,000 pages. Study guides helped a little for exams.
I'm a straight A student but she is an unreasonably tough grader. There is more homework than you can realistically keep up with. She is kind and understanding but unfortunately the class itself is poorly designed. Maybe she's better in person, but I would never take a class with her again.
Henriette is very caring and really accessible to her students, but not super lenient when it comes to grades. The class had busy work assignments, a few papers, and a few very specific exams that got to be quite challenging at times. The material was fun and her lectures are great, but it can be a lot if you don't keep up.
Had weekly canvas quizzes & weekly discussions (lowest 2 of each dropped) and two exams total. Discussions were graded by the TAs who were harsh, discussions were not a walk in the park. The professor herself is very kind but the grading from TAs seemed unrealistic and made this class a lot harder then anticipated, I had to really earn my grade.
I absolutely loved this class and professor, super interesting lectures that made it easy to learn. I never had to study for this class to end up with a B+ which is great if you have other difficult classes. The workload isn't bad, 3301 had just a few more assignments than 2301 which was nice.
I really enjoyed Dr. Warrens class! The class had 2 exams that were somewhat difficult, but not horrible if you study for them. Otherwise there are a ton of other assignments to boost your grade (discussion posts, reading quizzes (open note + untimed), ICA, etc.). She drops the 2 lowest grades in every category and gives extra credit.
Good class with reasonable expectations and informative lectures. My TA was very approachable and knowledgeable. Some people had trouble with the multiple choice exams, but I did well on both with minimal studying. Overall a good class.
Prof is very nice and clearly enjoys topics discussed in class. She makes the lectures fun, but she will call you out if you're on your phone or not participating. Make sure your phone is on silent. Grades are cushioned with a few points of extra credit and lowest grade drops. Overall, I would recommend!
Professor Warren, yes she is a very nice person but doesn't deserve to teach at the University of Minnesota. She was a very rude professor when it came down to one on one help. TA for 3301 also never helped! TA graded all assignments and most kids wouldn't get more than a B on the papers or assignments. Don't take a class with this Professor!
Warren is a decent professor and her lectures are interesting, but she's very inflexible when it comes to meeting the needs of her students. I have a disability and am registered with the DRC; she does not seem to understand this and has even tried to deny me my accommodations- doesn't rly make sense for a psych prof, but other than that she's good
I adore her! She inspires learning and encourages participation to keep us engaged. Her lectures are easy to follow and guides our note taking in a way that allows us to easily catch up if we need to miss a day. Her tests are in person and closed note, but thankfully grades on many different items so a bad test can even out with a good quiz.
Henriette is amazing-She is passionate about what she teaches and provides a note guide to keep lecture straightforward. Her class has many opportunities to get points so not everything is based on exam scores. There is one paper at the end, reading quizzes are open book, ICA are free points, and there are only 6 discussion posts (+ xtra credit)!
This professor is great, but the TAs were not. This professor has her TA's grade everything and I feel that if the professor was grading herself, my grades would've been a lot better. The tests are decent being open note, but sometimes the questions can be confusing. Overall, not that bad.
She provides weekly video lectures broken up into several sections which is helpful because she requires you to purchase a study guide she wrote. The guide would be helpful if any of what she covered was put in exams :). Incredibly harsh grading, a rubric is given for discussion posts and papers but they're rarely followed. TAs are just as bad. RUN
I wouldn't recommend this class. Professor is nice, material is interesting, tests are manageable, but the TAs are so harsh with grading! Papers during the semester on analyzing articles/studies and their methodology/procedures/measures - doesn't seem relevant, and if you don't know anything about analyzing studies, it's difficult. Would avoid.
The professor herself is really nice and passionate about what she teaches. The material is interesting but the TAs grade so harshly for an introductory course that it kind of demotivates you in learning the material. Also, many of the topics that are on the exam are not even mentioned in the lecture at all, so be prepared for that!
Overall, I liked the class but her and the TAs are very very tough graders to the point where I felt like they were unnecessarily particular about assignments (most students never got more than a B on even discussion posts). It doesn't help that the rubric is very vague. The material is good and organized, do all the work!!
This class is great and the professor is very passionate about what she teaches. I found multiple times there were quiz and exam questions that had not been talked about in lecture and was hard for me to find in the book and questions would have multiple answers (gave points back for this). Gives extra credit opportunities.
Henriette is the sweetest professor! She is so passionate about her class and makes you excited for class! If you do not put in effort, read all the readings, and show up for lecture you will do bad in this class. You cannot really put off the papers and discussion posts until the last day and expect an A. The TA's are a hit or miss. Quizzes weekly
I took the online version of this class so I never met with Henriette in person, but she seems nice enough and the course itself is quite easy. There's a lot of busy work for the online portion (discussion posts, reading, online quizzes, lecture videos, etc) all with different due dates. Figure out a schedule early if you take this course online.
Lectures were interesting, but not such help on exams. Exams have multiple questions with multiple answers and has some trick questions. My TA grades our discussion posts and papers as if we were in grad school. Never made above a B on posts. Professor will call you out if you're talking, sleeping, or being late to lecture.
Tests are the easiest way to get points in this class. Discussion posts and papers are INCREDIBLY harshly graded. It usually takes me about two hours for each week's discussion post and I've never received a grade above a B despite exceeding rubric requirements. Hard work and showcasing knowledge of course material r NOT rewarded. What's the point?
Should attend class because there are required in-class assignments that cannot be made up. Grading is harsh, but grading criteria is clear. Professor will often not reply to emails, and TA's are the same. Lectures are not complete on Canvas, so don't rely on Canvas resources if you miss class. There are lots of assignments.
all of the ppl complaining ab dp/essay grades probably did theirs last minute and didn't peer edit/use the writing center (u need to or u get a bad grade) 3301 is basically writing intensive, hence harsh grading. warren WILL call you out for sleeping, being late, or using phone lol. she's rly passionate ab the course and made topics interesting!
Professor Warren was AMAZING! This was one of the more difficult psychology classes that I took--higher expectations for papers/DP compared to other classes. If you attend class and do the work you will do well. Interesting lectures with a note packet (study it for tests). She is super approachable when you have questions. The TA was not the best.
She is a surprisingly harsh grader and the criteria she uses for grading are not especially clear. I also felt a lot of the course material (DPs especially) focused on social justice issues instead of the actual topic, child development. The allotted time for exams was not enough. However, the few interactions I had with her were very pleasant.
i often spent more than an hour or 2 on the DP's and everything is so harshly graded with no feedback. do well on the quizzes and take advantage of the extra credit you'll be able to do well. exams are hard and the study guide isn't as helpful as she makes it seem. but I could tell she was passionate and I really enjoyed listening to her lectures.
Maybe Professor Warren is better for in-person classes, but her online class was very poorly organized. There were weekly discussion posts and three papers that were harshly graded by the TA, and the quizzes and tests were often unfairly difficult. The material is interesting, but the class structure makes learning feel like a chore.
Great teacher and very helpful with answering questions. Very interesting lectures. Is a harsh grader on discussion posts but gives lots of opportunities for extra credit and retakes. The quizzes and exams are pretty hard for open note and tend to require a really in depth understanding of the textbook material. Otherwise great teacher.
Warren is a great, kind professor who is obviously very passionate about her work. However you do need to show up to class to succeed and take good notes. As other reviews say, there is pretty harsh grading on DPs and papers. My recommendation is to start EARLY on those each week to make sure you cover all your bases well. Good class
Harsh graders and study guides do not help tests. STUDY FOR TESTS, they are hard. She is good at explaining things in class (attendance is necessary and for credit), but test questions are situation based and are hard to understand. She is very knowledgeable and nice, but you'll come out of the class thinking you know what's going on and you won't.
She is a bit of a harsh grader and her exams are nothing like the study guides. she does provide a coursebook to follow along with lectures and lectures are mandatory to go to for points
weekly quizzes and exams mostly affect your grade, but you have to attend class and discussions for small point accumulation. you have to take notes by hand in a course packet she provides. she is very experienced and it shows in lecture. the course talks a LOT about infants, not so much middle childhoood+
Warren is passionate about her work, and she is a kind professor. Attendance not mandatory, but there are easy in-class activities that are worth EC pts throughout semester. The TA was unhelpful, and discussion did not add anything to the class. Weekly textbook reading and corresponding quiz, 2 papers, and 2 exams thru the semester. I'd take again!
Henriette was a good professor and I got to learn a lot through her lectures, but does go off track several times which can make our class fall behind. The TA doesn't do much in our discussion class, but go there for points! Study for the tests because they are difficult. The two big papers for this class can be difficult too.
I took this course as well as 4331and 3401 with Dr Warren - actively sought out her courses bc I enjoyed her sm. The pre made note packets are v helpful to know what material you should be focusing on. She can be a bit inflexible w deadlines/accommodations but is friendly and willing to talk w students.
Enjoyed the class! Learned a lot from her lectures. A very nice professor, her lectures were enjoyable. Had weekly quizzes based on readings but you get three tries and tbh not that difficult. Never really read the textbook but can still do the quiz and exams well based off her lectures. Workload was easy to handle and there's extra credit. Love!
Professor Warren is passionate, but her grading can be harsh. Attend class, take good notes, and use resources like unstuck study to prepare for exams. The work is challenging, but the material is interesting.
I'm not sure how I feel about Dr. Warren. She clearly loves teaching and the content. This class is hard (interesting, though). She tests heavily, has LOTS of readings (4-5 with 30-50+ pages each), and has a presentation at the end of the semester. Being shy, going to her classes is intimidating as there is always group work with random classmates.
Dr. Warren was a great professor and made sure all of her students understood the material. She is passionate about what she is teaching and it is clearly reflected in her lectures. She aimed to make the lectures engaging and included humor, which helped me. The exams are hard and a lot of weekly readings. study for the exam and you'll be fine.
Dr. Warren is one of me and my friends' favorite professors of all time. Yes, the class is hard but it's a 4000 level class. During Spring 2025, we had five short papers due and weekly open-note quizzes on campus. Only a few exams during the semester including the final. Dr. Warren is super passionate about teaching the material, I love her!!!
Dr Warren is such a good professor. she makes lectures fun and engaging and it is easy to follow what is going on. the exams are a little hard and she is a pretty tough grader, but overall this was a great class to be taught by her!
She's ok. She doesn't respect DRC letters and says that she automatically gives people extra time on tests so she doesn't need to follow accommodations. Her tests also don't offer much time to begin with. Her note guides are cool, but even with that and doing all the readings, her tests seemed to have questions that weren't consistent with either.
She is a great professor, really engages her class with the content. Attending lectures is vital, but helps a lot with understanding the content and prepping for the exams. There's two tests during the whole semester, so studying and doing well on them is essential. She's also really friendly and helpful.
You will get a guided notes packet, which I thought was helpful, but not for everyone. Lectures are engaging and can be fun. Readings are very helpful, but not always necessary, as similar content is discussed in class. Tests can be difficult if you don't study well enough for them. Overall, a very engaging and useful class.
To do well in this class you HAVE to go to lecture (though not mandatory) bc content isn't posted on canvas and she has 10 surprise extra credit sheets so you might miss out on free points. Dr. Warren is nice and a good lecturer. I liked how the class was structured. Take discussion prep/work seriously bc it's a big chunk of your grade
