Doyou want to succeed in Dr. Charlier's class? You must be a hardworking, independent individual that is interested in improving themselves. Love of the subject is essential. I am a senior and I can honestly say Charlier is the worst teacher Ive ever had. He actually doesn't even teach and posts videos so you can teach yourself (If I wanted to take an online class I would have) he is extremely lazy and never even puts in grades. I had Chris Saunders last semester and I would recommend taking him instead.

Never been so disappointed in a teacher Henry is disorganized. And he makes you watch YouTube videos instead of teaching in class and somehow is getting away with getting paid to do so. The majority of the class is confused and gets bad grades which he does curve, but if you need to learn Chem for future classes dont take this professor.

The flipped style isn't for everyone. Your success depends on your initiative. I have over 100% in his class right now, with a full course load and while working full time. He gives extra credit and test corrections, which will boost your grade and help you learn. And he really cares about his students. Take the bad reviews with a grain of salt.

I took CHEM 112 with Henry this summer, virtually because of the pandemic. He provided links to his lectures, and had us complete a quiz, discussion post, and knewton assignments, for each module, twice a week. We had one test a week. He has been willing to help me, and is clear in his expectations. He was encouraging and kind.

Liked Henry/enjoyed the material, BUT: Most of the battle is keeping up with hours of 3-6 year old YouTube lectures and endless mastering chem assignments. DB's, Quizzes, 4 group work midterms, and cumulative final- very unclear grading for exams (midterms avg. 80-85%, final was curved 30%). SLOW grader- you won't know till grades are due.

Taking this course was quite enjoyable. The professor is kind and tries his best to make class enjoyable. He does talk very slow in his lectures, but they are pre-recorded so can be played back at 2x speed and viewed at any time. Taking this class over the summer was very hard. I would avoid it if possible. If not, find a great group to study with

We didn't have a single live meeting this semester. Assignments were given with no clear instruction on how to complete them or how they would be graded. His posted videos were created in 2014 and are totally disorganized and hard to follow. Nothing was graded until the end of the semester. Learned nothing and still passed with an A.

Henry is always available to help his students. He provides all the necessary lecture content to ace his exams. You need to devote extra time to digest the material in an online setting. To this day he is the most caring professor I've ever had. People who complain expect to be spoon fed everything.

Loved henry! Hes a fair grader and gives as many points as possible. Always willing to meet students for hours at a time to go over material. He really cares for his students and wants you to succeed. Really put effort into this course as its naturally difficult. He gives you everything you need, its up to you to earn your A.

This professor is just about the laziest professor I have ever seen. The lectures we watch as homework are years old by now and are everywhere and so difficult to follow. The actual lecture time is just workshops that are not graded. It is currently the middle of October and we are yet to have any grade inputted in Canvas by him. DON'T TAKE.

This class has a flipped schedule, but the videos were almost never posted on time, which made the structure of the class useless. Often he would post the videos at 12 AM the morning that you needed to watch them. Usually a straight A student, but could literally never watch the videos before class, because they were posted so late, so fell behind.

He is a nice person but a terrible professor. He was very late on grading, and his grading system makes no sense, so you never know what your real grade is. Also, his quizzes were ten times tougher than his exams. His class structure also didn't work for me as he had video lectures you watched outside of class while you did a worksheet in class.

Does not teach and stretched the definition of professor to it's breaking point. He really phones in the lectures. Made poor quality videos, pre COVID mind you, that he uses to this day. I think he's just trying to fulfill his contractual obligations. Either way, his flipped classroom technique is absolutely horrible.

He's nice, but his tests don't follow the homework. Because of his research, he's passionate abt certain parts of biochem but doesn't teach the overall picture. The Mastering Chem hw takes hours each week, but doesn't count for much in your grade or prepare you for his tests/quizzes/discussion boards. I literally looked at every test like "WTH"?!

He assigns HOURS worth of videos per week "teaching" while spending the entire class walking around, teaches you NOTHING. If you get confused once, you will never come back from it. Test material is nothing like homework's, and his "teaching" videos are HOURS long and essentially don't help. If you want to learn, DO NOT, take him.

The class was not hard and Charlier is a really nice guy, but the grading times were ridiculous and good luck ever trying to get ahold of him. His pre-class notes are insufferable.

He is not helpful in the slightest and I left the class more confused than I came in. Takes professor very loosely.
