An easy class! Important that you come to class, turn in your homework on time ( fill in the blank from the book, completion grade), and take good notes. Test ( 25 fill in the blank, 10 multiple choice, and 10 t/f) word to word from Homeworks and Notes. Make sure to study the review. Extra Credit is available.
Cowan is awesome, he's funny and entertaining. He knows what he is doing and his class is easy and fun! I got an A easily and his tests are verbatum what his outlines are. Take him if you can, if you cant, then fit your schedule around his!

This is an A class but you MUST show up. He's quite strict on policies regarding attendance and late work. He has no patience and won't work with you if you missed a day. He'll just give you zeroes. reviews for exams are given and homework is cut and paste onto the exams. It's definately an A class but you must be disciplined.
A class but you MUST do the work. He's quite strict. No late work is accepted. He expects you to follow directions but he doesn't follow his own syllabus. Exams are from text book, his lesson reading and HW articles. You must be disciplined, watch due dates (he might change them), read everything and make sure to get your stuff in before time.
I took Dr. Cowan's online summer session which was kind of a lot of work but not really & he grades pretty fairly. Short mc hmwk quiz straight from book each ch, 5 1pg article response, 3 discussion board posts, 3 tests mc mainly from quizzes & lessons. I've taken this class before & ended up dropping but made an A in his class so I recommend him.
If you do all the work you will get a "B". I advise typing the review questions and putting the answers under them for your study guide. Easy class if you try no reason to not get a "C".

this class was the easiest class ever. i rarely ever did the work yet i made an awesome grade. if you suck up to him too hell give you extra help. just look sad.
Mr. Cowan is a great teacher, he makes the subject fun. He is serious when it comes to doing your work, he has you read a chapter a week and do a multiple choice hmwk which he copies verbatum to your tests.I made a 100 on the first test, also gives E.C. on test. You need to go to class everyday, Take Notes, do the homework, not hard. Easy A, Easy
Took his class online during Summer minimester. Did have to read some because it is a compacted class. Test were straight from quizes. Discussion board was easy. Sometimes his quizes did get ahead of the assignment but other than that an easy A.
Took this class online, so easy! I would of made an A but I did forget a couple of the quizzes and a discussion board...oh and a assignment. Everything is so easy you just have to remember to do it. Teacher was extremely nice. My browser closed during a quiz and he reopened it for me! Even gave me 1 point so i could get a B. A+ in my book!
definately need the book. you do weekly assignments out of it. i hated his class. maybe it is just because i dont like history but he is monotone and i never knew when he was talking about which subjects. i dont recommend him in any way. everyone i know thinks the same
Attend class, takes notes provided notes, complete all assigned homework, complete provided study guide, study for test and you will have no problem at all getting an A in this class. Tip: There are a lot of notes,but I used my lab top & note taking became breeze. Great Teacher!!!
I took him online and feel that he is very unfair. His exams have absolutely nothing to do with the quizzes or the study guide he provides you.
I took him on-line& his test reviews don'treally reflect the tests.Out of 50 questions on the review he probably only asks you 5.You really need to review your quizes too.Wrote some essays but he didn't comment on why he graded it the way he did. Didn't understnd y i got a 100on some & 80 on others. There is also disscuion board participation.
I took him online and he can be extremely unfair. Do the assignments at least a day before they are due because if you wait till the day of then for some reason the assignments always close early and he wont let you redo your assignments even though its not your fault. The exams dont cover his reviews. You have to read book line by line.
Online class-Quizzes are challenging, but they are open book! Articles and disscussion boards easy 100 just participate and meet the page requirement. However, tests are difficult you got study the review and read!!!
Took online, Exam reviews are useless-don?t waste your time on any of them. Watch the dates and complete assignments early as the assignment closes early and he WILL NOT reopen them regardless of TCC/Professor error,not helpful at all.Short,vague response to email inquires regardless of question. Would not recommend this professor.
This is not an easy class which is why I took it. I enjoy a challenge and actually learning something from a class. Since I love history and worked really hard I made an A+. He is a funny guy but very outspoken. He doesn't sugar coat anything and tells it like it is. I would take this class again.
professor is lazy to say the least The lecture course might as well have been online all the quizzes were online he forgot to post test reviews and even gave us the wrong first test!He is easy, but he really made a lot of his students mad. If you take his lecture class all I can say is get ready to write becasue that is the only thing you do!
Fairly easy one homework quiz assignemnt online done weekly. Tests were easy straight from the homework quizzes and notes.

The class was easy if you did the work! He let you pre-print all of the quizzes, there were discussion boards which were an easy 30 points, articles which needed 1 page responses for an easy 30 points, and then 3 exams. You MUST read the material and it is A LOT!! Quiz due every other day, article with 1 page response due once a week. And then exam
I took the online summer class with Mr Cowan. The class itself was not that hard at all. Study the reviews and you will do great! ;) Tests you need to study alot more for. Took online summer class.Class is not that easy. Although some of the quiz shows up on the exam wouldn't recommend taking another class while doing this, it's very time consuming.Assignments are due daily.
Taking class online, so I have never met the guy, but he has also only returned 1 of my 6 or so emails. The class itself is straight from the book as are the quizzes. Lots of them. My only problem is that there were many errors on the quizzes- and he was slow to correct them, if at all. Not much care taken on his part for anything in this class.=X
The only reason I would not recommend this professor is because he does not return emails. I took this course on-line out of 5 and was the only course I had to drop b/c he wouldn't respond to my emails. He is a good teacher the work is fairly easy if you do it and turn it in but do not miss an assignment because he does not give make-up.
Dull professor=dull class. HW quiz due everyday. If you are barely late he won't accept any work.Seriously long PPs & you will easily tune him out.Your options are 1)don't go to class even though the notes are essential for his tests2) go to a class in which you can't put your head on your desk, drink coke or coffee, go to the restroom, talk, etc
If you plan on transferring to a major university I would recommend taking him. This class is not an easy A. You actually have to work for it. I found his teaching style to be like most professors at the university I?m currently at. If it wasn't for this class it would have been a huge wake up call my first semester at my current university.
Funny, truthful and blunt. He goes off on tangents which can be interesting. He likes to relate what happened to whats happening now. Good teacher! He flat our says what will be on the test for reviews.
Easy A. If you read the chapters you will pass the quizzes & exams. You have discussion boards, reading assignments, and a couple of papers. There is homework, but pretty much if you do the work you'll pass the class. I took the DL class, so not sure how they are in person.
I started out busting my hump in his class. After the 2nd week, he stopped grading the homework "quizzes" that were due each week. By the end of the semester I was turning in quizzes with completely guessed/random answers and getting full credit.
I am usually a teacher's pet but this one lost my respect. He doesn't take anything seriously, doesn't grade homework, doesn't try to help. Don't take him.
Really hilarious, made learning easy. easy A if you read the book, do your homework and come early to class to turn it in.
Took online. Quiz over each chapter (15 chapters). Quizzes hard, ?s aren't always straight forward. 3 easy Discussion Boards. Five 1 page responses on articles he had us read. Overall, ALOT of reading, exams easy if you do review he provides. Accepts late work if needed. Always answered emails in timely manner. Just do all work and you'll get an A.
Taking this course online. It is very time consuming and tough for an online course. Quizzes = hard (all the questions are "which of the following is NOT a...) so you really have to read; test = hard (50 questions in 45 min); theres quite a few 1 page papers you have to write too. Definitely was not expecting so much work for this tcc class.
Alot of reading I mean a lot.Doesn't allow late work and the times's he gives for test are unfair mid term 45 min 50 questions talk about cruel. Other wise self explantory. Very hard to keep up in this class with the essays, discussions, and quizzes per chapter
This guy goes off into a lot of tangents. It's very bothersome especially when we rush to finish at the end of the class.
He is rather borring. He does not let you have a copy of his power points which requires you to take notes long hand. He moves from slide to slide very quickly requiring you to write very fast. He is very easy, very little studying and common knowledge about history will get you an A in his class
Took his online course. Breakdown: 3 exams, 15 quizzes, 4 short essays, and 3 discussion boards. He provides summary essays on most of the subjects covered in the exams and is an easy grader on the essays and discussion boards. However, the chapters listed for the last two exams were not correct, based on what was asked on the exams.
I took his online class - quizs are from the book and are print preview (easy). The tests are easy and mainly from the text book and quizs. You have a couple of discussion boards and short essays about articles that he posts (related to the topic you are studying). Very fast at posting grades. I received a B+ in his class.
Easy A. The test are 50 questions (25 from the HW [Worded the exact same] and 25 from the lectures) Do your homework and attend all lectures. Study your homework WORD for WORD and pay attention in class. Easy A no joke.

Just took his online class. It was his first time using Blackboard, so some of the quizzes had questions from the wrong chapter. It didn't affect my quizzes but he gave everyone 30 points EC. He was extremely helpful and responded immediately to emails. I would recommend him for sure! Not sure about his on campus class, as I've never met him!
Extremely preachy. Be prepared to sit through an entire class period of bitterness. He's also not very accurate at times in his commentary. It's more of his version of history.
The questions for the test are copied and pasted from the chapter quiz and he gives you the answers to the test while going over the review. It's one essay that is also super easy. It's broken down to 3 parts in the semester. He does ramble and get off of topic during class. But you still get all the information because he knows his stuff.
The course was very easy, but the teacher was very bad. I took this online, and his lecture pdfs were usually plagued with improper spelling and grammar. They also often conflicted with the information from the book. He didn't actually give instructions for the essay or the discussion boards, so we had to guess his expectations. No email responses.
Ok lemme sum this guy up. He is your basic Southern White Republican old male. Instead of focusing on teaching the history lesson he constantly veers of into whatever Fox News had told him the night before. Turned history into his-story. Entertaining at first but gets old very quickly.
Very helpful, he has sense of humor.. Read your material and will score an A!!! History in general requires reading!
I took his class online. Quizzes=hard! They're all ?'s like "all of except" and etc. and it doesnt clearly say the answer either! Uses Connect software do quizzes then it will give you the correct answers to use on test. Tests are 1/2 from quizzes and from the book. It was a OK class.
I am very disappointed. The teacher was not clear. All we did is use McGraw hill connect, some videos and reading assigments. The test was on some of the quizes but he opened the answers day before the test.Test number two he gave us the review the same day of the test.Taking this class online with him is not worth it. Very little care from him.
It's his version of history, especially when he stated that slaves didn't have a problem with slavery, they were very happy because they had shelter,food and clothing. They were punished like a child when they did something bad and that the slave owner loved their slaves. The worst teacher that i have ever had in college. What a horrible teacher.
Not a professor that I would recommend at all. Boring lectures & lame jokes are just the beginning. However, if you just want an easy A, this is your class. If you want to learn anything, this is not your guy.
Boring lectures and never bothered to open the book. Quizzes are simple and the tests are directly from the quizzes. As long as you actually attend class and half way pay attention this class is an easy A. Not terribly interesting but I recommend him none the less.
Easy. Due dates did not correlate on blackboard and didnt communicate well. His calender had due dates a day later than on the grade book. It was confusing when it came to knowing when things were due. If he even replied to my email, it took days. If you find history easy, then this is an easy A. But if you need help, I wouldn't take this class.
When this professor starts his first lesson by saying twice than man has been on earth for 4000 years and that it cannot be proven otherwise, you know you're in for a treat. Avoid.
He is pretty easy but I agree with others. He interprets his own version of what happened in history which makes it hard to understand when it comes to test and quiz time. His test do come from his quizzes so be sure and keep them. I would take him again just because he's an easy grade!
This guy doesn't care about this class. He lets the online textbook do his teaching for him. His lectures are full of grammatical errors and are timed wrong, both for the textbook chapters AND THE EXAMS! He doesn't interact with the class and doesn't/barely responds to emails. Terrible. Save your GPA, take someone else.
Quizzes are easy, 3 test witch are suppose to me mainly about the quizzes but definitely weren't. He gives horrible responses to his emails and takes long to respond.
Nice guy but lectures aren't in line with quizzes. Every exam had at least one error which made preparing difficult and he reprimands the wrong people for talking. If you are self motivated, you will be fine. Otherwise you should select someone else.
Was the easiest online class. A quiz over each of the chapters that are due right before the test. Offers extra credit but is really not needed as 70% of the tests are from the quizzes. I never even opened my book and made a 98%. EASY A
literally easiest class I've ever taken, my first online class to take and i got a 98 AND I MISSED A TEST. sooo much extra credit its probably impossible to fail this class.
Alot of extra credit so u can get easily pass with an A. Final exam was very easy because the answer was hinted.
Super easy online class. You have work every week but it doesn't take more than an hour to do each week. Tests were a LITTLE difficult but if you do the reviews given, you'll be fine. He replies to emails fast and is super helpful. I would definitely take this class online!

There is absolutely no way you cannot pass this class with all of the extra credit he gives! Get ready for a lot of busy work, but its all super easy! Took this class online summer 2 and loved it! Highly recommend this teacher!
super easy class. assignments due every Friday but you can find the answers to them easily on quizlet. provides study guide for the tests and a vocab matching extra credit assignment every Friday as well. I need a 9% on the final to get an A. print the weekly quizzes because most of the questions on them will be on the test.
watches videos for entire classes on certain days, that's worth skipping.
Occasionally we would watch movies for the entire class period that were not needed for the test. The tests come word for word from the homework. Sometimes you may hear his opinions rather than just the facts.

If you care about what you're learning, don't take him. I barely showed up and received an A. All of the answers on the quizzes can be found on quizlet. The questions on the test are the same as the questions on the quiz. He provides a study guide for each exam and allows a 3x5 notecard, print the quizzes and study those for test.
The work is easy. Mostly all of it is found on quizlet. If you cant find it there, it can easily be found using the index in the book. Don't procrastinate because it is a lot of work to catch up on. I took this class online. This class was super easy. Chapter quiz once a week on the same day and 2 exams. I didn't use the book once. He gives the reading material online. It is a lot of reading if you actually want to learn and pass, otherwise all the answers are on quizlet.
I took him for Hist 1301 summer 1. He is a pretty easy teacher. All of the work is on the revel website. Most questions were found on quizlet or studyblue. The only time I used the book was for the maps. Overall I highly recommend the word is easy and not time consuming.
I took his History 1301 class online. Very unclear instructions for what all is to be read before taking the quiz. (ex: I wouldn't know if I needed to read the reading assignment and the book chapter, or just one or the other). No announcements made. Not even greeting.

I am taking this class right now and he is awful. I am a 4.0 student and a nursing student and I am baffled that an instructor, let alone a Dr, has this much lack of professionalism and organization in his class. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING in the chapter tests pertain to the chapters. The questions are all subjective and assumption based. It is impossible.
He gives assignments weekly based on an online textbook and reading materials he gives you and the questions never match these nor his in class lectures. He openly admits this and even gives some points when enough people complain. The exams are also the same way and even have the same question twice sometimes. Tooooo serious on attendance.
This is the WORST professor I have ever had. Not only does he not allow tutoring (students have tried to meet up with him during office hours, he tells them to just read the book instead), he states in his syllabus that he gives extra credit, but actually WON'T. I have a great gpa, and it's probably going to go down because of this man.
I regret taking this professor. Easy A but miserable lectures and he is blatantly racist. He literally compared slaves as being like "family members" Absolutely atrocious. If you can handle terrible lectures for a semester for an easy A, then this is your guy.
This teacher right here absolutely ridiculous horrible. Teacher compares everything to his personal perspective and not by the book. His chapter quizzes are not in the assigned chapters. Chapter test are very unorganized. If I was you I would not take this professor. The notes he provides is something he typed off the top of his head. Just Horrible
Absolutely the worst instructor I've ever had! The answers for the quizzes and tests are NOT in the reading that he provides. There are many questions that are impossible to answer because it is based on opinion, not facts. I highly discourage everyone from taking this professor!
READ THE BOOK IF YOU WANTED TO PASS THIS CLASS. You will have 1 chapter quizz every week. His leacture is ok. 50% the test will be in the chapter quizz, the rest will be in the extra reading. He allows you to bring a cheat shet on the tests. Honestly, when you take HIST class, you have to read. No other way to pass this.
This professor and class was super boring, it's not too hard to pass because the test comes from the quizzes. Total of 3 tests and weekly quizzes due each Friday. (Offers extra credit) No homework except reading if you want I guess. Passed this class with a B. I would not recommend his class because he is boring and can be very rude at times.
great teacher he is very caring. however, you will have a quiz every week that is not the hard part though, the hard part is that it is that the questions are personally made by him so you cant find them online, but in doing so he makes it virtually impossible to find the answers at all in the notes or book. and will be about pointless info.
After just one class I dropped this professor because I was so astounded at his ability to offend so many groups of people. He made it clear he voted pro-trump, then bashed young (millennial) girls who were crying because clinton lost, made fun of mental illness, and took a whack at the police force while he was at it. Don't take this professor.
Professor Cowan is a good teacher. His lectures are pretty boring since he just reads off his PowerPoints but his class is easy as long as you do your online quizzes. He will give you extra credit. Test can be tough if you don't study enough. The quizzes can be found on quizlet. I would take him again.
This is an easy class, although lectures are quite lengthy and there is a lot of note taking during class. You are given online textbook quizzes which are found on quizlet and half of the questions on them will be on the test. Easy A if you study the questions and make a notecard for the test.
A large percentage of grade comes from online weekly open book quizzes. You can do weeks worth at one time easily. He allows 3x5 note card on all 3 tests. Funny and caring guy even if his jokes sometimes fall a little flat. Incredibly easy A if you want one and are willing to do a little work. Nothing tricky in the class at all, great teacher.
I think he is one the easiest professors I have ever taken. He gives quizzes and the same questions show up on the exams. Good for getting easy A's but you do not really learn much. You also do not need textbooks, can find all answers on quizlets.
Professor Cowan is a pretty straightforward. Attendance is mandatory. His lectures are long and kinda boring , but you learn a lot. Test come from weekly quizzes and text book.
well ill tell you everything you need to know. show up to class you should be good. whoever said his answers cant be found online lied. the quizzes are easy. the tests are questions from the quizzes. always do your online quizzes on time. he gives a lot of extra credit. just keep up with everything. do that and you will get a good grade.
