This instructor is useless. He doesn't even know what's going on in his own class. Watch Reno 911 and you will know more about policing than with this guy. No syllabus. No assigned anything. He talks about himself and the old days but nothing about his computer generated tests. Don't take him for anything. He's a waste of your money.
He gives A LOT of extra credit but you have to show up to class. There's really no need for the book and you don't take notes, well I didn't and had a B+ average in the class. All you really need is the access code to the interactive site and attend the SI sessions. Main thing to remember is SHOW UP FOR CLASS!!!
His lectures are not that great, but tests are very easy. I recommend buying the book to study for the test.
Awesome teacher!!! Doesnt take attendance, reviews exams day before, study the book and youll get an A on the exam. Very easy A to boost your GPA! Dont take if your expecting to learn more than what you would read on a book! very laid back class :)
he's a great professor. I highly recommned him
He was really easy. I think it would be best to attend class, or at least attend the days he has for the reviews.
The book and especially the online interactive course are good to have and the reading for his class is easy. He was a funny guy who cursed like a sailor. But some of his classes we're repeats. You will hear these things over and over again(three leged dog, plea bargains and many other things). But easy A if you can can you can use common sense.
He gave reviews before the exams. Offered extra credit. Altho attd not mandatory, I suggest you go bcuz he will give extra pts for that. Don't mess around w/ ur phone or laptop - this aggravated him the most. He's a very kind man who made the lectures interesting. No need to take a lot of notes as he posts the Powerpoints up. GREAT GPA BOOSTER.
Awesome teacher! He relates the topics that are gone over in class to current events to help you better understand them. He also goes over what you can expect on the test to better prepare you. He seems to really care that his students do well and if they aren't doing well its because they are not coming to class or trying to learn.
Good Class. He posts powerpoints on blackboard and also does reviews before the test. Would definitely recommend.
Loved!! He's so nice. Gives plenty of extra credit, no book needed, tests aren't too difficult. Made his lectures interesting, posts everything on BB and is easy to talk to.
This was one of the most boring and stupidest classes I have ever taken. All we did every single class was watch a movie and then write a two page response on it. We would barely cover anything in class and then he still expected us to have a test over a few chapters that he taught us nothing about
He is a super sweet teacher. Makes things super easy. Goes over a review of whats going to be on the tests. Gives alot of extra credit opportunities. Attendance isn't required even though he says he will do it randomly. You dont need your book. TAKE HIM!
have him for CRJ 1113/2153. very interesting considering he tells a lot of personal stories related to the topic we're learning. He is a really chill guy, Very laid back and usually extends exam dates! LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT OPPORTUNITIES! Post all the power points, so attendance isn't mandatory. Easy A, take him!
Easy class. Honestly, there is no way that you can earn less than a C. Study for the exams and go to class and you should be fine. The subject material is cool- so I didnt have to put too much effort into it and still managed a B. SO MANY extra credit oppt. it's awesome! He's also super nice and willing to help.
He is approachable, nice, funny and he's great with giving extra credit opportunities. Tests are fairly easy if you go to class and study the pp notes or skim or read book. Tells great stories about his past that tie into CRJ. Do not fall asleep in class. He will call you out on it. Took him 2 semesters in a row for diff classes, 1 B & 1 A grade.
Not a hard Prof at all! I highly recommend him. He tells a lot of stories about his past during lectures. If all you study is his power points you'll do pretty good without ever having to buy a book for the class.... Do not fall asleep in class!
Very easy gives power points but just use the review he gives and u will do fine super easy awesome Professor!!
Take him!! He is an awesome professor! Very funny and can make your day! You can tell he really loves his students!! Best professor at UTSA!!
He just sorta talks about stuff but he doesn't teach his slides. He uses them as a guide but doesn't mention them too much. The tests are based on the slides so you don't have to go to class but the stuff he talks about is interesting. I'd say take him. It's an easy enough class.
I've had Mr. Meade for 3 semesters in a row, 1 B, 2 A's, so as you can tell I like his teaching style. He's so easy going, funny, nice and approachable. I am taking him next semester as well. He gives extra credit opportunities and his tests are fairly easy if you study the book, power points and go to class. TAKE HIM!!!! :)
Super easy class, doesn't take attendance. Only 4 grades; exams. He does give out a few bonus points here and there, but its not really necessary as he is a really easy professor. Aside from that he tells very interesting stores, though he does tend to repeat them quite often. Loads of special guest speakers who are really interesting! Take him!
Professor Meade is a really easy, laid back guy. He has quite a sense of humor. He talks a lot about his life experiences, and repeats a lot. The class was a breeze. I hardly went to class and still pulled an A. He pretty much grades based off of completion. The material was right out of the book in class power points so it was kind of boring.
Easy class, until the final. Over three weeks, he gave us four different versions of what the final would be. What we actually got when we showed up for the final was a writing assignment to take home and do. And the assignment had almost nothing to do with the class!
The most DISORGANIZED professor ever. Hated everything about his classes.
Easy course but if you don't pay attention you won't pass.!
He's funny. Gives lectures based on current events. Will take again.
Meade is a funny teacher, I enjoyed his class a lot. He was unclear several times on different things, but its an easy class to pass with a good grade. Does a lot of visual learning, very lecture based, and offers a lot of extra credit.
he was a great professor, would take more classes taught by him
Very funny, very vocal guy. Lectures are long but he usually makes them interesting with his humor and good stories. A few quizzes and a couple easy essays. Show up, do the work, easy A.
Do yourself and your GPA a favor and take his Class, great instructor, easy to relate to and great at delivering each lesson.
If you're the type of person that needs to listen to a professor lecture in order to learn. Do not take him. His lectures are pointless to listen to. Always repeats the same stories and it gets kind of annoying. If you like to do the learning on your own, definitely take him. It's an easy A if you read the chapters and skim the powerpoints.
He's okay. Only three tests and a final for grade. He gives out extra credit but not as much as he claims. His lectures are just repeated life stories. If you read the book and look over the online power points you'll pass. He doesn't follow the syllabus and might not email you about upcoming tests.. He's annoying but the class is easy.
Hes a good professor with a class that is easy. The textbook is not needed for his class and exams are easier but you have to study the powerpoint for them, which he posts to blackboard. Attendance isn't necessary but he gives extra credit for attendance randomly and does 4 random quizzes throughout the semester. Gives extra credit frequently.
Mr. Meade is a nice man who cares about his students. That being said, he is a mediocre teacher. 90% of his class is him repeating the same stories over and over again. When the test comes around the material is nothing that he actually lectured about. If you plan to take him, be ready to teach yourself the material. No book was needed.
I have taken multiple classes with Meade and i would take more if i could. His lectures often go over the same stories about his life but most of the time they are hilarious and relatable. He isn't afraid to speak his mind and he's a great teacher if you try to get to know him. One of the few teachers at UTSA that actually cares about his students!
Professor Meade's classes were lectured based. He read off powerpoints which were posted on blackboard to help with tests. Simple and easy class if you show up to class, and read the chapters. His lectures weren't needed for the tests but the book is needed if you want an A in the course. He offers lots of extra credit opportunities
Meade is a great professor who has tons of experience in the Criminal Justice field. You can't go wrong with taking a few of your classes with him. He's an easy professor. Most of his tests are lecture based. He also gives TONS of extra credit opportunities.
Okay so he's a decent professor speaks his mind and is easy to interact with during class but he does repeat himself a whole lot which makes you loose interest in the lecture. What is spoken in class is not usually on exams therefor read your book and you'll bee good. Extra credit is given to better your grade.
Very passionate about policing, but his lectures are mostly stories about him and usually repeats them again throughout the semester. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but random extra credit in class is given lots of times. Never used the book once because the exam reviews all you need. He's an enthusiastic professor, but expect to hear life stories.
Easy A. Never took notes. He gives tons of extra credit. Gives two points for every class you attended. Two easy opinion papers. This guy worked for a lot of agencies and has a lot of stories so be prepared to hear them.
Meade is a great professor I loved his stories they helped to remember the information for the exams his class is easy as long as you show up and pay attention his class is not hard at all
He is an amazing professor! great stories and funny. His test are a bit difficult though he will review in class then test can't seem to find anything about what he told you to study.
Love this guy! Easy class with all power point lectures. He gives funny personal stories and is really passionate! Tests are easy but no review worksheet. He gives you a rundown of every test so you are not surprised. Extra credit quizzes given randomly for attendance and sign in sheet. class. Only tests no hw! don't need book. Honestly easy class!
Professor Meade is an absolute gem. His sense of humor is awesome, so it keeps people engaged in his lectures. He's lenient about attendance. But make sure to attend -- it's worth 2.2 points per day! I would absolutely recommend him.
This class is so easy. You will get so much information from him regardless if you have him. If you would like to learn more about private security i definitely encourage this class.
3 exams plus the final, No homework, pop quizzes for attendance/Extra Credit! Lectures are interesting. He genuinely cares about students. Offers job opportunities. Gives test answers during review. Attendance does count. 100% recommend. Easy easy class & don't have to be CRJ major. Gives multiple extra credit & don't need to buy the book!!
4 exams and pop quizzes for extra credit only! The test are easy- he literally gives you answers to 50% of the exam. Don't listen to the other comments, the tests are easy if you show up to class. Attendance DOES matter. But he is the nicest and cares. Responds fast to email. Never took notes- powerpoint online. Don't buy book. 100% take for EASY A
Professor Meade is one of the greatest Professors of CJ in UTSA. The class was very interesting since the beginning and we did a great project. I would definitely recommend professor Meade for any class. He has a lot of experience and knows what he is talking about. This was one of the few CJ classes I have actually loved.
Meade is such a sweet professor who really cares about when youre not doing as well as he knows you can. Hes really entertaining & funny with explaining his experience in law enforcement during his lectures. Not gonna lie, I didnt attend every class, but he gives so many extra credit ops. I couldve gotten an A if I actually studied.
Mr. Meade is awesome, sweet nice and always gives out examples that us students can relate to. I would totally recommend him 100%.
Great professor and starter course for a criminal justice major. You are only graded on 4 exams, class participation/attendance and announced in class quizzes. Professor Meade is well versed with his criminal justice background and does give extra credit opportunities. He wants to see his students succeed. Can't wait to take him for future courses.
Mr. Meade is a great professor. He is EXTREMELY knowledgeable about policing, the courts, federal agencies and prisons. His class is not hard & he appreciates attendance. If you read the book, you will do fine on the exams. His opinion papers are extra credit and there is no right/wrong answers, simply testing your abilities to listen & write.
Prof Meade made lecture very interesting to learn. There will be a lot of extra credit opportunities in this class.
Highly recommend because professor Meade has guest speakers and fields trips. Easy A just study the slides.
First time taking a CRJ class and the best professor Ive had in my 3 years at UTSA. Shouldve changed my major a long time ago! 4 exams, extra credit opportunities and weekly pop quizzes that add up to 10 points on exam. Attendance isnt mandatory but missing class when you pretty much cover a chapter a day isnt a good idea.
WORST online classes I have ever taken. This class is easy but he is very unorganized. I understand if there were difficulties at first but this went on the entire semester. He is unclear of what he wants on assignments, doesnt respond to emails, forgets to grade assignments. Test dates were inconvenient & at random dates/times. Do not recommend!!
A very nice guy, but the class itself does not teach you anything for the tests. Most of the class is just old stories that he retells of his glory days. Very rarely do we actually go over anything in class that makes it onto the exams. Your best bet is to just re-read the slides and look up information in the book. Needs more structure.
Intro to policing lectures involve anecdotes about Mr. Meade's past. I recommend if you take this class, to go over the power points for reviews for the exam because the reviews he provides in class are only part of what the exam will consist of.
He is a really good guy. I loved listening to him and his stories but my god he was not a good prof. He doesnt have a schedule thats put up so you dont know when his tests or quizzes are. and as far as studying you got to study a lot, I studied the lectures, the textbook directly and his own lectures but i still could not get higher than an 85.
I loved Meade as a person but professor wise he is all over the place. No one knows when things are due and honestly there are so many papers involved with his class. I think I have written 8-10 papers at 2-3 pages each so far. He is sweet and offers a lot of extra credit but it's hard when the class is so disorganized.
For this course, attendance is not used. You don't need the textbook, uploads Powerpoints to BBL. Pop quizzes are given but he always gives hints to when. No group projects or long papers. 4 exams and guest speakers. Only the front two rows can use laptops during lecture. No phones, he will confront you abruptly in front of everyone. EXTRA CREDIT!
Online classes are very different and Professor Meade seems to struggle with some of the formatting of them. He changes his syllabus and deadlines so you don't really know what assignments you have when they are or when tests are. If you keep up with the work it is fine and you can do well as he is very nice but it is a bit stressfull.
Professor Meade was very engaging in lectures, I really enjoyed his classes. Attendance not mandatory. Tests and quizzes were pretty easy. Fair amount of reading the textbook, but you only 4 tests and 4 quizzes. Extra credit opportunities. Overall, I really liked Professor Meade. He is very caring and really wants to help you understand and succeed
This class wasnt really difficult. My biggest problem with him this semester though was that his lectures, which he had stated were mandatory were almost useless as he did nothing but tell personal stories most of the time. Due dates would also randomly Overall, not bad for easy A as long as youre prepared to teach yourself.
I enjoyed Professor Meade a lot. Being in his lectures wasn't necessary, but I always wanted to go because his stories were good, he was super funny, and is a very nice guy. I definitely recommend him and would take him again.
If you go to lecture, it is a waste of time, often covering nothing important to the material in the tests. My biggest complaint, the professor has no clue how to operate Blackboard and in doing so the class suffers. Random dates for important test and quizzes are frequent, leaving a bitter taste in your mouth. DO NOT take him online.
He gives a lot of personal anecdotes but I personally like it. His lectures get a little sidetracked by personal stories but I love them. My only gripe with Professor Meade is his quizzes and exams are random and so studying in advance is hard to do. But he gives so many opportunities for extra credit, and he has fun field trips.
Very easy class.
I took Mr. Meade for CRJ 3643. Overall the class itself was not hard. He never taught us anything that was on the exams or quizzes. He kept talking about what we were "going to do" the entire semester and never actually taught us anything. However, the field trips were fantastic. Also, this class was basically an ad for his Alpha Phi Sigma group.
Great professor with real world experience and meaningful connections toward career building.
The class itself was not hard. He never taught us anything that was on the exams or quizzes. He kept talking about what we were "going to do" the entire semester and never actually taught us anything. He keeps saying we're going to visit the court houses but we never do. Also, this class was basically an ad for his Alpha Phi Sigma group.
I don't normally write my own comments on here, but I feel the need to warn others of his class. He rarely taught us course material- mainly focused on his personal stories that had nothing to do with our class. His tests and quizzes are hard because he doesn't teach, and they're worded weirdly. Honestly, just stay away if you can.
This class is literally so easy. Idk how anyone fails. Total of 4 discussion posts and like 4 tests and a few quizzes. Hes understanding and you dont need much to pass i PROMISE.
He literally did not teach anything that was on tests/quizzes. When we had guest speakers he talked more then they did. You gain nothing from his class except learning how much he loves his APS group and APS students.
The one thing I want to say is that Professor Meade may be tough but he does it because he cares about his students and wants his class to pass. He provides lots of helpful information about each chapter and always helps with extra credit. He is always helpful in and outside of class and is always there for you. Always be prepared for class.
As a person, he's charming and funny, but as a professor... Like everyone else says, the lectures don't really matter because most of the time he's telling personal stories that are only tangentially related to the topic. Also, the quizzes and exams usually have weirdly-worded questions. Just read the PowerPoints and you'll probably be fine.
I took professor meade for intro to policing and he has some things to work on as a professor. Going to his lectures almost feels like a waste of time, he always goes from talking about the topic on the slide to a personal story he has told us more than 50 times and it gets quite draining. I wouldnt reccomend him as a professor for this class.
Professor Meade makes class interesting by connecting topics to personal experiences in his career. Attendance is graded, and he often reviews with the class for exams. He uses a lot of quizzes and extra credit for police, courts, and corrections events. He cares about his students and connects them to the community. His syllabus is flexible.
While this course is very simple and I am sure many could pass without attending the class. He is a fast grader with quizzes being graded within the day or week at most. He takes attendance for a grade and with the lack of assignments it plays a major roll. His lectures are boring and hard to pay attention to as he goes off on tangents.
Professor Meade should easily have 5 stars! He makes the class very digestible with his lectures. He is funny and very engaging. You have to listen and put in the work. He provides you with opportunites for off campus learning, amongst other things. I will take his other classes. Put in the effort and you will walk away with so much knowledge.
His commentary during lectures don't pertain much to the slides and he yaps A LOT. The biggest thing I was unaware of was that we had to attend events outside of the classroom for our grade and write papers over them. (trials at the courthouse, freeman colosseum, drug court graduation). Five-six of those events are mandatory, others are for EC.
If you want to learn nothing and walk out more confused because much to nothing was actually talked about. On the verge of retiring and doesn't care about anything but is APS honors group. Basically advertises it the whole semester. Hits on girls and gets distracted while trying to get through class. Spends first 30-45 min. taking about nothing.
Going to this class felt like it was a waste of time. I have learned nothing from Professor Meade other than his life stories. Most of the time, he made no sense during the lectures especially during reviews. He would also "mistakenly" give a 0 for an extra credit assignment but when confronted about it he makes excuses.
Prof. Meade can be funny and helpful, but he mostly goes off track and starts talking about things that aren't apart of the lecture. His power points are helpful with quizzes and tests but thats basically all he helps with. He is very emotional if he feels the class doesn't care about his rants. I wouldn't take again.
Professor Meade was an okay professor. There were 3 exams and about 4-5 quizzes. These are based off of the lecture slides, readings, and videos, but they were not worded closely enough to match anything from the resources he provided. If you need him for a credit, then take it, otherwise, try to find someone else.
