You learn a lot more than just logic in his class. It's one of the most fun ways to get rid of your math requirement.
A real cool guy. Class can get a little boring, though, and unfortunately most people skip. Tests are rather easy (open book).
I love this guy! The material is a little confusing, but I can say that I think he really cares about his students and appreciates that not allof us are a Math Wiz.
While he is hard to understand sometimes, it's obvious how much he actually cares about math. The tests are all open book, and there's no HW, so come to class just to be entertained by Pogo.
A great guy, cares about his students. Didn't understand any of the math but I went to every class to hear his stories about fighting--and the girl who thought her boyfriend was cheating. Take this class!!!!

Pogo was brilliant at one point in his career, but now all he does is talk about how he wishes someone would kill the school's administrators. Definitely a sociopath. Wish we could have seen him get arrested during finals week. What an ****.
Best professor on campus, everything he says is true. A true mans man who isn't afraid to voice his opinions.
he's still deaf, and doesnt really teach since its all from his book. His stories are funny to laugh at. Definitely a class to take if you want credits, and to be able to relax and not have to study for his tests. Just make sure you have his book for the tests, since he lets you use them.
Great teacher, brillant man at one time, now he's just really old and deaf. Fun class, good stories. Sometimes he forgets and teaches the same material over and over two classes in a row. Sometimes stares and spaces out, talks like a madman...a cracked genius like Einstein. Cool class to take a nap
Very nice old man (about 70), can't understand too much of what he mumbles, he's not clear on what he wants from us, his TA is not much help, he needs to retire. I would advice not to take his class, it takes 3 times the mental effort. UMaine lets us down once again and take our money.

Oh, Pogo. He's such a nice guy, and I don't think people take the time to appreciate his lectures. He's brilliant. His tests are easy, but it's because he cares more about people listening to what he has to say. The TA is AWESOME, and pogo's assistant is the nicest woman you'll ever meet.
This class is fun and easy. Pogo just tells war stories and his tests are open note and book. Great class to study in or sit back and listen to Pogo, he is hilarious. Need a math credit? Take this class, highly recomended.

Pogo is boring and his class is useless. The tests are open book and open notes, but that doesn't really help all that much. His questions are so confusing that you basically just have to get the answers from the TA's in order to pass. Save yourself the headache, don't take his classes.

He is the FUNNIEST teacher I've ever had.. if you want a laugh take this class.. however.. I didn't really learn anything.. his class is pretty hard eventhough it IS open notes/book.. you get lost in what he tries to tell you.. too smart to teach!.. but extremely funny
He is a mess, disorganized and scattered. You never know what he is teaching, and his text book is written by him and is impossible to use. Drop if possible.

Nightmare class... like most classs at the university of maine its a nightmare. these professors make things confusing, not organized, and crazy. did I mention crazy. Everyone at UMaine acts like they want to help but then when you ask for it they act like you are bothering them. I don't like this school! Its like a nighmare you cant wake up from

Pogo is a weird dude. I laughed during his lectures because he is a naturally odd and funny man. But he is right out there. His book is written by him but it makes absolutely no sense! His tests make no sense, and he makes no sense. Somehow I passed the class, but it was by a stroke of God.

This has got to be my worst semester and its my first. this guy makes no sence at all but hes very funny. my other professors here are ok but i'm going to switch colleges because i don't like the way they teach at university of maine. Save your money and research colleges before you sing up. I should have checked out schools first.
MAT 101 is a great class! I took it last semester and got an A. Attendance is optional, extra credit is given for showing up and for joining a study group, tests are open book/open note, and Pogo is a character. Pogo is very opinionated and he has a tendancy to mumble and to go off on tangents. I went to listen to him rant. It's a good time.
People say that Pogo worked under a great thinker decades ago; yeah, as their custodian or crazy office boy. This guy is wacked, UMaine is wack yo! This place is so overpriced for the poor quality they offer. This school should pay you to attend.
He's an OK guy. He's getting older and slowing down and I think other students are hard on him. It's the students in Maine that are cruel and over eager to say hurtful things. I like the professors but I can't stand the other students at Umaine, they also drink way too much here.
Long live Pogo! He's smart, funny and the arguments in class with his wife are priceless. Attendance is optional but he definately motivates you to read the material, just like says. Go to the class.

This class is ridiculous. He's so deaf that the class can be louder than him and he won't even realize it. He rambles about random things, and he even teaches things out of the book..that he wrote..completely wrong. His wife is the ta and she can't even write the alphabet on the board correctly. She gives stickers and glitter for the tests. Easy A!
Pogo is a funny guy. He is VERY liberal and just dont even get him started on politics. You get an auto A if you show up for the tests, which are easy as well. Maha, his wife and TA, will give you the answers, no need to study... Waste of money, but if you hate math and need to fulfill a requirement, this is the class for you!
Quite the experience. Very bizarre class. But you can learn something if you WANT to. And you'll get an A either way. Maha, the TA, is very sweet!

What a great fellow, and very enjoyable! Apparently UMaine ended up suspending him for heretical mathematical ideas. He has professed to have solved the Goldbach Conjecture and is involved in theoretical avant garde math. He maintains an Institute off campus, and can be seen wearing a white campaign hat strolling around campus.
