Comm 346 was the 1st classs that I have ever had that I actually used out in the real world. I learned a lot from him -- especially film stuff. You have to attend class if you want an A and his questions are from the lectures. Tests are sort of difficult -- but we have a study guide & review. A cool professor with a great smile.

An easygoing professor. But, do not let that fool you! He can be a tough grader. He is pretty clear about what he wants. Don't get on his bad side and don't be texting anyone in class. It will cost you dearly. Personally, I enjoyed the class and loved his film clips and youtube examples. Take notes of these clips! Useful for exams.

His lectures are a nice combination of humor and knowledge. I appreciate the vocabulary that he gives to class. I am doing an internship and these people use these words. A class with real worth!! Puente is super cool. His tests really aren't that bad if you go to the class before... he gives you like everything on it. The paper wasn't too bad you just need to make sure you cite really well. I saw a 'hot' thing by his name and didn't really think he was at first.. but he proved me wrong. That guy's fiiiiine.

An interesting and easy class!! You learn a great deal about racial/ethnic stereotypes. I will never see the media in the same way. You have to come to class because he does use a lot of youtube clips for his exams. His final was a little bit tough especially if you did not read the book. A funny, interesting, and cute professor.

Professor Puente is a great instructor who loves teaching. He has a nice, warm, personality. He is easily approachable. He is very effective in his instruction of whatever course material is at hand. You can't leave his class and not be influenced by the knowledge of the course material in some great way. He is very sweet and unforgetable.

Well, we have taken our first exam. It was a tough open book and open note test. Attendance is not mandatory. But, there is no way you can pass if do not attend class on a consistent basis. This guy definitely knows his stuff and can be a bit of a jerk to students who slack off. But, I am learning a lot of useful stuff! I can't really complain!

I highly recommend Professor Puente for all comm. concentrations. He will challenge you but it's worth it in the end. I currently have an A- and I'm typically a B or C student. You will learn a lot! Cheers.

Personally, I really like him. I appreciate the fact that he does read your papers. That being said, you better watch your spelling and provide in-text citations. But, don't freak out, he does provide a template on how to cite properly in APA. A really smart and cute professor! Not sure how he can remember all those definitions with no notes?

One of the most knowledgeable professors about the in's and out's of the industry! He's always willing to help, so don't be afraid to ask for it! An AWESOME class with so much applicable info to get you focused and where you want to be career-wise. Take good notes and ask questions!

A really tough class! This guy is no joke! You better be ready to work. If you are a slacker, I advise you to stay clear from him. He will fail you without question. Watch your spelling and citations on his reseach paper. I do mean watch it! The ladies will like him; because, he does have a sense of humor and he is not some 60 year old guy.

He is amazing!!!! Puente is a very hard professor, but you walk away learning so much! Do not slack, this class is no joke. Trust me, take good notes, come to class, write a good research paper (with no spelling mistakes) You will be fine. He is pretty cute too.

He gives tough tests! He is quite demanding, especially for an intro. course. But, you do learn a lot from this guy. Get to class on time; because, he will make announcements and he will not repeat these announcements. If you come to class, you will be fine. If you decide to attend occasionally, you will fail. Quite simple.

Mr. Puente is pretty straight forward in this class. It is a lot of writing but you should get an A or B if you just keep up with the work. The book is not as important as his powerpoint notes.

We learn a lot of theory in this class. I liked how he makes you apply these theories in our paper and debates (cite please). The book is too expensive and poorly written. But, he does ask a lot of questions from the book, so you will need it. He is a decent-looking, nice guy with a good sense of humor. I think everybody will enjoy his class.

This professor is very set in his ways and gives specific instructions. Just follow what he says and you'll do fine. Can be kind of crass at times but he's a good professor. Open book, open note tests so take good notes. Also make sure you cite properly in your research paper.

I liked this class. You need the book. You need to come to class and take good notes. His tests are open note and open book. They are fairly hard but not impossible. You need to cite your paper correctly. He does offer extra credit - so that is good. He is a nice professor. But, he sends short email responses, so you should go to his office.

I enjoyed his class and learned a great deal. Puente is a bit rough at times when interacting with the class, but in a way it helped. No distractions or mingling, just the subject. LISTEN and take good notes in lectures, use blackboard, and write a good research paper; meaning follow his outline, use APA, and cite correctly! Would take him again.

I loved Mr. Puente. He's funny and relates the material in a way that you'll remember. All tests are open note and there's only one big paper at the end (and it's only 4-6 pages). Go to class, or get a class buddy for notes you miss and you'll do great. Love him!

He will try to scare you away early. But, he really is not so bad. His bark is far worst than his bite. You should be prepared for a lot of writing. I loved taking his writing class! I learned so much and my writing has certainly improved. He is a hard professor and if you are lazy do not take his class. He makes writing fun and interesting! I recommend Puente!

A lot of writing! His TAs are helpful. If you get done with your assignments early, he will also look them over. He is pretty helpful and will provide the class with templates. Lastly, he has in-class writing time. You should take advantage of them. His tests are open note and open book. You will learn celtx and final draft...not too bad.

spelling is a big deal with puente! he is very picky about it! When you are done with your script send to him to look over and then utilize his TA's!He doesn't write to many comments but the TA's do! & makes a huge difference in your grade when you send to him & TA's. Don't be afraid to ask for his help. He will give it only if students ask!

Read the book, tests are all open notes/computer. Although it has nothing to do with the assignments still read as his midterm and final are hard and you need to know the material from the book very well. Would recommend E-Book!!!! Attendance is mandatory. Every time you miss its -5.

That last review was mine and I'd like to be able to somewhat rescind it. Went to his office hours a couple times and he was a little abrasive in his humor but funny and helpful. Would def take him again. Ended with a B+. Text necessary for open note tests, one paper/one paper proposal, easy class to do ok in.

You definitely need to come to class because he will give quizzes. Open note exams are tough. He is not an easy professor. You will have to earn an A. An office visit will do wonders if you want help on an assignment. Talk to him about wrestling and he will smile! My uncle says he was a pretty good wrestler.

Great Professor!!! Funny and makes class interesting. Taking him again next semester because he is such a good professor. Knows a lot about the entertainment industry if you are really interested. Class won't be easy but definitely worth it!!

Great and helpful professor! He said at the beginning of the semester how it will be a challenging class, but he offers extra credit and lets you use open notes/book exams. They are super easy and the two exams were online. If you take good notes, show up (sometimes with a current event to share) and just listen to his lectures then you're golden!

Professor Puente is awesome! take his class! he really knows his stuff and has a lot of experience in this area. go to class, take notes (copy the powerponts) and you can pass this class! exams are all open notes so there really shouldn't be a reason you don't pass as long as you attend class to take notes. he's also very humorous!

I am currently in class and I love his teaching. Very straightforward and he's funny. I enjoy his class, which is good because it's 2 hours, but he lets you out early. He's very picky about grammar, so double check your work. I want to take another class with him.

Prof. Puente seems very unapproachable, but he is so very sweet and kind. He is funny and sarcastic, so if you have a chip on your shoulder, don't take him. He is so helpful, but don't take him for granted, you WORK for your grade. I am taking him now and am so glad that I did! If you are considering one of his classes, I suggest you go for it!

DO NOT think for one minute that just because his tests and quizzes are open book and notes, they are DIFFICULT! He is very tricky so if you take excellent notes and read, you'll do fine. You will earn your grade, which is a good thing, as we're in college now, people!

test are pretty tough you really have to read his books and study his power-points. I cant say he's fully a fair grader. whatever he wants goes and there's no changing his mind. which I think is unfair because he's unapproachable and non-negotiable. do not forget to cite your sources in your paper because he will give you a zero and report you!

Puente is pretty cool. He seems unapproachable, but I was in dire need of his help so I dared to go to his office hours and he was amazing! He basically told me everything I needed to get and A &how&where to get it. Awesome. Email responses tend to be on the rude side, so see him in person! LOTS of note taking, but you will need it for his quizzes

BEST CLASS I TOOK THIS SEMESTER! Lectures are actually interesting. Every week there's an online check up quiz, based entirely from lecture so TAKE GOOD NOTES! The midterm and quiz are part content from notes, and part from book, so thats where the hardcore studying comes in. Lastly, there's a debate and 10 page paper ON TOP of the final! Prepare!

Attendance isn't mandatory but if you miss a class you will fall behind. The class isn't too hard as long as you attend class, take good notes and put effort into final paper.

He is a no non-sense professor. If you are a sensitive student, you probably should avoid him. He prefers office visits to emails. If you have a chance to visit him, I highly recommend it. Comes off as extra scary the first day of class but he's not. Weekly quizzes (don't miss them they add up),Online exams (gives you a week to take them), a 10 page paper, and a debate. Debate seems scary but it's not. Class anonymously decides who wins it. Must go to class and take notes! He does not post his PowerPoints online. Interesting lecture.

I had this professor for comm346 too and he teaches the same way. 3 exams and a final paper. However, there's a debate to do for this one and he does come a little scary at first, but if you do all the assignments it shouldn't be bad. He does have humor and hard sarcasm but his lectures are great1 He explains it very well.

I really enjoyed Puente's COMM. 346 class. All of the exams are online, as well as the weekly quizzes, and he basically gives you all of the answers in his audio lectures/text readings. Three hours allotted to complete 50-55 questions on each exam. Exams are detail-oriented, but if you take good notes, you'll do great. Also a 5-8 research paper.

He initially comes off as intimidating but he is actually really generous/caring. There are 3 online open book exams (you get 3 hours so take advantage of the time). Tests are very specific to lecture/book so I would recommend typing up hand-written notes to form study guides. One paper + debate with a partner - not as scary as it looks!

Pretty good professor, emails back somewhat quickly. the class was pretty easy, he posts weekly video lectures and had a quiz every week based on the lectures and readings. readings are in the quizzes/test so you will need the textbook. quizzes and tests were fairly easy, just make sure to take decent notes. just do the work and you'll be fine!

At first, I didn't like him. But that was because I did poorly on his first few quizzes. Once I took serious notes, I aced them. He's the one online class that I have really learned from because of the way it is formatted. He also helps you if you show you care. If you want a real education, take Puente.. and take notes!

I loved his class. I have taken him 3 times and his format is always the same. Lecture and the weekly quix with one paper before finals. His quizzes/exams are directly from the powerpoint, as long as you take notes you will get an A. Control F is your best friend for quizzes for the textbook. If you put in minimal effort you will pass & he's nice

Puente is very knowledgeable about the topic. Very lecture heavy. You would need a textbook, but most exam questions from his lectures. His questions are,"Which of the following is false," so his quizzes are very hard. Overall, difficult class. 3 exams, weekly quizzes, one paper. Pay attention, take good notes, and ATTEND lectures!!!

He's a tough grader and heavy in lecture. As long as you pay attention and take notes. If you are easily distracted, don't take. If you like a straightforward class and are good at taking notes and retaining information, take him. Doesnt seem very approachable, but he is, just talk to him, and he will help you.

If you're gonna believe any reviews on here, believe mine. His class is not hard at all if you actually go to class, which I'm convinced everyone here did not, and take basic notes. He'll literally emphasize what will be on the quizzes too. Weekly quizzes, an interview assignment, and a final paper is all for this class. Love Puente, he's chill.

If you show up and take notes you should pass with an A. Everything on the lectures is exactly how they are on the tests and weekly quizzes. He's honestly a great professor you just need to show up and participate in class a little bit and he'll give you extra points. If you don't show up you are absolutely failing tho.

If you're looking to take your 449 Capstone, I highly recommend to take it with Puente. You have 6 case studies to do, but you're allowed to skip one. There's a midterm and a final, plus 2 group projects - one before and after the midterm. Make sure to read the case studies and if you need help, he's always willing.

The class is manageable if you attend lectures, take notes, and utilize helpful resources like unstuck AI. Expect weekly quizzes and tests, but the material is straightforward if you stay engaged.

The class was super easy! Make sure to attend class and take good notes because his lectures are only available in class, and he doesn't post them on Canvas. He has weekly quizzes, one industry review paper, and one final research paper. He also has a unique sense of humor that I thought was funny! Def recommend taking his class!

This professor was one of the bests one's I had. He is a funny guy who values hard work effort. His quizzes are open note along with the exams (three in total). We have two projects, one is an interview the other a long research paper. Take this from me, work hard, ask great questions, and show you're engaged and you will pass his class.

Puente's course is organized excellently. His lectures are well-paced, and he explains the topics very well. Attendance is mandatory because he doesn't post the slides on Canvas, so if that will be hard for you, don't take him. His quizzes and tests are similar, very easy. The two papers we have to write are also not bad.

Cultivated a great class environment where everyone felt comfortable talking and was a very knowledgeable and fun lecturer on top of it. He assigns a lot of long quizzes outside of class but if you take good notes and balance your time wisely you should be fine. His two papers he assigns are also very time consuming but not super hard either.
