She is not clear, but she gives you easy test if you do the homework. Final is hard
The best teacher ever! i love you professor Spitz!!! also she's very clear! explains everything very well! she made me love math! i never understood it before her!!! Thank you!
the exams are based in homeworks especially the third one is the exact review. the final is kind a hard though
Prof. Spitz is a great teacher, she's very clear, as long as you do your homework daily and understand it her tests are easy/fair, and the final is department wide.. Definetly reccomend

not a good teacher, but her workload and tests are pretty easy. However if math isnt your strong point, dont take her she does not know how to explain anything and rushes through material.
She talks so fast in class that sometimes I get scared her head will explode. Please don't take her if you don't know anything about calculus because she doesn't know how to explain anything so you have to teach yourself everything but her tests aren't so hard if you understand the stuff
Hard teacher but very nice and willing to help you one on one. Doesn't give quizes be4 test anymore so study hard for test 1+2 so you can pass if you bomb the hard 3rd exam and final.
All you guys that wrote those nasty comments have no clue what your talking about! She is the clearest math teacherand the nicest lady! If I ever had a question she comes over and explains the answer. Her test are also very fair. They are exactly on the material that she has taught in class. She prepares you well for the test. Take her! I Lo
You will not find a better prof here. Her reviews are the test, ofcourse its hard. No prof on earth can make this class easy if your not a solid math student. She is the best QC has right now.
i used to hate math. but, ever since i took this class i began to love math. Prof. spitz made math fun and easy. I would defintily recommend her to everyone!!! she is A+++. Also, if you do thye homework and study for the tests it is an easy A!!!
Knows math WELL, but isn't the best communicator-she needs to slow down! lol @ comment about her head exploding she talks so fast, I wondered myself a few times. It's not just a matter of keeping up... she talks all OVER the place, you have to stay on your toes and ignore the chaff. BUT if you do the HW and go to class, you'll be fine.
She is an excellent teacher. She does move fast and says yeah yeah alot. However if you do the homework and show up for the review which is her test you will do fine. She also reviews old finals for the final exam which is departmental.
Her teaching method is very straightforward. She goes over what's going to be on the test, and it's there on the test. No trick questions, nothing unfamiliar. She WANTS everyone to pass so she insists that the class ask questions if they are remotely unclear. Excellent professor.
shes the bes..tells you wat is goin to be on the test but changes the numbers...makes sure everyone is on the same page.she rocks..i wish there were more professors like her
Hey peeps if you want to get an a for calculus, trust me this is the professor to take. She tells you EXACTLY whats going to be o her exams. She collects and goes over the important homework questions. Even though you do bad on the final exam, which is the Dept. exam she grades it to your benefit.
She is very helpful and she actually cares if you get it or not. She takes the class slow step by step and she reviews for her tests. If you attend class and do the homework you'll surely pass.
She is great. I got my highest grade in a math class ever w/ her. I would recommend her to anyone who has trouble with math b/c she explains so well and makes sure everyone knows whats goin on. for 110 if u were a wiz in high skool dont bother it will just be a waste.
amazing class. i really learned alot
This is the most amazing math teacher I have ever had!!! I have NEVER done well in math until this class. She is also very quirky which makes class fun.
very nice woman! good teacher for the subject. must go to class and follow along to understand material. goes fast, but do you homework and you'll be able to keep up. gives good review before test and final. final was hard, must study for it to do well, gives homework everynight, and collects it. class get tiring, but math is math.
excellent math teacher, cares about students. explains everything so well. please take her. i am sure you will fall inlove with math. and you will get a good grade.
explains really well, just a hard semester but if you come to class everyday you'll get something out of it, she explains really well
Ms.Spitz is a wonderful professor, she explains everything very well and cares a lot for her students. You get hw every day, but it helps for the exams; which are easy if you attend class regularly.
Excellent professor! Really cares about her students. TEsts are easy, the homework problems are actually harder. Gives quizzes to help boost ur grade. Explains math really well. Goes over homework and gives a good review before a test. REally take this professor if u can!!! She's funny sometimes but wonderful...:-)
Extremely nice and helpful. She helps the class to understand all the material. Homework is a major part of the grade. I regret cutting some classes because I missed material that was on tests. She's a lenient grader.
I hate this professor. (girl #1)She talks way to fast and she yells at people like they're all deaf (girl #2)DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! HATE HER SO MUCH. She thinks we are dumb and review things like 10times in one class. BORING =)
Awesome professor. Truly cares about her students and their grades. She will review & review until EVERYONE understands.
she talks too fast but teaches very well...understanding and encouraging. Attendance is very important!good notes, book is used almost everyday and theres a lot of hw-collected, she goes over things 100 times till its clear. and she loves to say INTUITIVELY!INTUTIVELY! INTUITIVELY! learn calc with ease and feel good about it...shes great, dontworry
She is extremely helpful and nice. Just visit her classes and do the homework in time.
I LOVE HER:) she breaks it down so you can understand she does everything so that you benefit quizzes only count if you get a high score homework is big for her whats on the hw is usually on the exams she talks fast but with passion never seen someone who loves math more than her DEF. RECOMMEND
omg she talks sooooooo fast. but its ok, she actually breaks everything down. for the finals, she tries her hard so that everyone gets it. she's not bad, she just talks too fast.
Great professor. makes the class fun and requires allot of homework. but practice makes you perfect so i would recommend her any day
Great professor. Makes sure EVERYONE understands before going on. There is no leeway on grades,so if you know your grades, you know your final grade.
Awesome Prof!!! She really is nice and explains everything! She gives alot of H.W. but really good. We had 3 exams and a cumulative final.
great prof! 3quiz+3tests. she only counts quizzes if they help ur avg. tests are basically an expansion of the quizzes, just changes around #'s. goes a tad quickly, but the material is not difficult-and she gives TONS of time at end of semester to review old final exams and make sure u know everything backwards and forwards. soo sweet also!
i hate math BUT i adore this professor. She gave me the confidence i needed. Extremely helpful. She gives enough h.w for practice, quizzes to benefit YOU, 3 exams and a final. Passionate.
adore her! heavy amount of hw, but goes over thoroughly in class. prepares u SO well for the final- at end of semester, hw is to DO old finals- u can spit out the probs so well its nuts. barely had to study for final bc did so many old finals thru hw assignments that studying was a breeze! i got an A! dont pass up such a great prof! over-tally!!!!
Take her. Highly recommend, gives a lot of homework and she collects them too. 3 tests. Gives review before each test. Also, she's funny, cracks a joke now and then...
love her 1 of the best not hard jst come to class do the hw(their alots but not that bad)
I love her!!! The best math professor in the world!!!!1 <333
Don't even know what to express about about her! I love her, she is so cute and adorable! If you were to have her as a professor, I'll give a hand for you! You won't regret, I guarnteee you! She is the best! LOVE HERRRRRRRRR
Awesome prof. Really cares that her students do well. Go to class, she'll go over the stuff a million times just so you get it. The HW isn't graded, she just checks that you did it. One of the best profs in QC in math and overall an awesome human being, she's adorable and hilarious. TAKE HER!
Excellent Professor. A must have.
Greatest Calculus professor! She goes over homework/classwork until everybody in class understands. She gives a full review for exams and final. Recommended to take her.
awesome prof. very helpful and her tests are very easy just go to the review class take good notes and youll ace the test!!1
Best math professor ever! She really cares about her students. Take her! I took her for two semester and if I needed another math class I would take her again.
Great professor. Works hard to make sure students understand material. Took her three times, for three different classes and she showed that same concern each time. Take her, even if you don't like math, she has helped me!!! -from someone who was not the best at math
Very helpful and clear, wants students to do well. Tests are fair.
She's not as great as what I heard about her. She talks too fast, and she's not easy. She doesn't explain many things specifically 100% by incorporating easier grade math, but tries to help us remember many equations and formulas. Attending class really isn't mandatory, but you will be missing out on quite a lot of new material if you are absent.
She really isn't that great of a teacher. Although, she is nice as a person. She speaks incredibly fast and it's so hard to understand her. Tests were really hard. She doesn't drop the lowest grade and gives no extra credit. The quizzes are supposed to be extra credit but we only got one during the entire semester. How can that help? Don't take her
This teacher is literally the best math teacher you will ever have in your life. If you hate math or suck at math, like I thought I did, you will be shocked at how you suddenly understand EVERYTHING. I went from Cs in high school to an A+. Not just an A. A+. Surefire A if you do the HW and go to class. I signed up for her MATH151 class, too!
She's a really good professor. My only problem with her is that she rushes through problems a lot and doesn't do so many examples. She's really sweet and funny, but I feel like our class time wasn't enough. She doesn't continue unless everyone knows what she is talking about. I found myself relying on the textbook a lot (which wasn't as helpful )
She is a great professor. I heard a lot of great things about her. It is a difficult course but she walks you through the math problems. She may talk fast but she always answers every question on a level that is comprehensible. With math courses you always generally need to study before each class so you don't forget what you learned.
One of the best math professors at Queens. She's amazing, and extremely helpful. Her reviews make the world of difference. She reviews and makes sure her students understand every problem that will show up on her exams. She truly cares about her students, I definitely recommend her!
She is the nicest, most energetic math teacher I have ever had!!! she goes over everything until you understand it. even if you dont understand the material, memorize how she does problems because her tests are straight from the review sheets just different numbers. she is so nice, you won't regret taking her!!
Hands down best professor in math. She is very clear and extremely helpful to her students. She tries her best to make a problem simple, easy, and clear. I wish I could get her in higher math classes but she teaches only one-hundred level [:(]
She is the best math teacher I have ever had bar none. She explains exactly what will be on the test and goes through the homework thoroughly. she will not continue the lesson until she is satisfied her students grasp the material. plenty of office hours to answer all your questions and all in all is a very sweet and helpful women A++++++
great professor, very clear, and repeats the explanations if necessary until at least the majority of the class understands. Gives thorough reviews of HW questions, for tests, and for final. Really helpful. Got an A+ in her class and in Math 122.
Another great review for Henya Spitz. I stick by what I said for her MATH122 class: BEST TEACHER YOU WILL EVER HAVE. I got an A+ again in calculus. She did make a test this semester very long and hard, but she was very lenient with grading because of it. Lots of extra after class hours to review with her. You won't regret taking her class!
A total sweetheart! She acts like a mother. She cares a great deal and WILL NOT continue the lesson unless EVERYONE understands. Calc was really hard and her tests are hard if you don't study. But everything she went over in class was on the exam. I'm glad I took her over the summer. She has a tendency to speak really fast though.
THE absolute best math professor ever. She really dumbs it down and will not continue unless every single student understands. Her exams are extremely fair and she prepares you very well for them. She actually makes you understand the concepts. She is such a sweetheart. I would love to take her again.
Professor Spitz is by far the best professor I have met at QC and the only one I will actually take the time out to write a review for.If you want to get an A and learn the material TAKE HER! She will explain everything like it is the first time you ever took a math class; makes calc simple. Her exams are fair and are exactly how she says so.
One of the best professors queens college has to offer. Great at explaining the material, extremely understanding, and tries her very best to make sure that every student does well in the course. Absolutely take her for any math course she teaches.
She makes sure everyone understands the lesson. Hard course, but if you have to take it with anyone, take it with her.
Professor Spitz is a wonderful professor that works hard to ensure that her students are understanding the material. If you work hard, you'll do well.
Professor Spitz is the best professor ever!! she really wants you to understand everything and will explain everything 10x until everyone gets it. She is the best!! Take her!!
GREAT!! She teaches!! she is always there for you and willing to help!
Great professor but you have to attend all the classes as well as getting the text book. Work hard and you will get easy A because she is very clear and her exams are easy !!
Dr. Spitz is a great professor and always helpful. However, class is mainly preparing you for taking final. If you never learn calculus, stay away. You may be able to deal with the exams, but she is hardly showing proof. Then it's bad for taking Math 152. Hence, students learnt calculus in high school then it'll be fine. An easy A.
She is pretty funny sometimes if you get her jokes. She wants everyone to get the material and is extremely helpful after class if you have questions, math is one of my worst subjects but i got an A because of how she teaches. she makes calculus pretty fun.
Best math professor I've ever had, hands down. 152 is a huge, difficult course load but she presents the material clearly. She won't let anyone fall behind, and is willing to answer any question. Go to every class, attempt the homeworks. Test questions are similar to the homework questions she goes over in class, and make sure to buyrent textbook!
She's simply amazing. Loves teaching and helping, clear in explanation. Just wonderful overall
Great teacher, very clear. Come to class and do ALL the homework and you will get an A. Goes over every problem that will be on the test.
Very hard class. Calc is not easy.
Does not reply to email. Runs right out the classroom when the hour is over; expect no questions to be answered after class.
When Mrs. Spitz talks, I do not understand what the hell is going on. Unless you have a background in math she is unclear. Very nice person; tries to help out those that don't get it. What really hurt me though was the fact that there was no curve, and everyone made careless errors. For perspective: I walked with an A- which is a low grade for me.
Fall 15. Puts in a lot of work to help her students understand the subject. Best Calc professor. Do HW for a booost on ur grade. Study for the tests and go to her reviews and you will be fine. Dont expect a curve cuz majority of the students do well.
She talks a little fast. But she is really helpful and will go over same topic over and over again to clarify. One of the best Math professors. She is helpful to students. She main teaches based on the book. Do the homework and be attentive in class. Easy A
She speaks really fast, but it's possible to adjust in first few weeks. Try to write everything she says, it's really helpful + hw are always useful (she might assign a lot but in reality does not care how much you did and if it's right, just try to do some stuff). she also offers to go to her others classes from the same course if you're lost
There's nothing bad I have to say about Professor Spitz. My only complaint; however, is that she speaks TOO FAST! Although I like math and not as passionate about it I understood the material. I wish that she gave more time on her exams instead of 20mins of lecture to start the session, I would have done better.
The class was a bit burdensome. Double homework via webassign and textbook. Lecture can be unclear and rushed and does not give enough time on exams. That being said her reviews and exams are identical. Textbook is needed but not exactly helpful if you are trying to teach yourself.
She's Great!! She takes the time to review the content she teaches and even gives you time to write down any notes that are important - the homework she gives really helps since it gives you more practice.
teaches the material very clearly really wants u to understand the math is willing to answer questions does a review before every test and basically gives u the type of questions on the test but with different numbers. doesnt try to trick u on tests. only complaint is not enough time for tests
prof spitz is the most amazing math professor i've ever had, she will never ever make you feel bad about asking a silly question like some profs, she actually gets to know her students by name and cares. this lady knows what shes doing take her if you can, shes also really funny
Amazing professor. If you don't get the material, she will go over it again for you to make sure that you understand it. She is patience when it comes to students asking her questions and her tests are pretty easy and straightforward.
Proff Spitz is a great math professor. If math is not your strongest subject, she will take her time and explain things multiple times so the whole class understands. The class is not hard if you show up and pay attention. She tells you exactly what will be on the exams, and could not make it easier for you. Definitely recommend.
Prof. Spitz is a great person. That being said, I find her to be a terrible professor. She does care about her students but I personally dislike her teaching style. She speaks really fast (I understand that the class needs to keep moving to keep on track) but she asks us to slow her down and when she does she speeds up. S
Prof Spitz is an AMAZING teacher. If you have trouble with the subject she will slow it down and do the problem again and again until you understand. For the tests she gives a massive review and tells you exactly what will be on the tests. Highly recommend!!! Must bring your textbook to class bc she uses it for problems during class
Professor Spitz was a great professor. Only reason I am not giving her a 5/5 is that she speaks/teaches extremely quickly. I have not seen any situation in which she does not have the proper answer whenever I asked any questions. I am really impressed by the depth of knowledge she has in what we are doing. Great!
She's great prof just moved too quickly and the grading criteria wasn't that clear, still isn't lol. I would recommend, just be sure to actually try on hws and really do them which are based off lectures; thats the most important thing imo if u want to do well in the class
All she does is give you the answers and puts you down for asking questions. I believe she wastes time nagging us, instead of letting the class ask questions, make mistakes and learn. She collects homework and never looks at it and doesn't tell you where you made your mistakes. She talks normal speed, but she nags a lot.
She clearly wants all of her students to do well 3 tests + dept final Couple of quizzes that are only meant to possibly boost grade Online hw optional Written hw just has to be done - no grades Takes attendance but teaches very clearly - worth showing up for Always lets students know what to focus on for tests - very straightforward
She is a caring professor, however, her teaching style isn't suitable for calculus. She rushes through a lot of the material because she spends too much time going over everything from the previous class. She starts the class earlier because of this. She also speaks fast and starts to get mixed up with her sentences. Take a different professor.
She's just a beast of a professor. She makes all the material very clear and she teaches good tricks for remembering things. She also gives quiz that only count to your benefit before exams, which are exactly like the exam. She has a review session before each exam and goes through full problems of exactly the problems that will be on the exam.
I like her teaching style. If you are familiar with the concept then it is really easy to go through her class. She rushes some stuff but you always have a chance to sit through her other classes and catch up. She also sits after class to take doubts.
Caring professor but I personally dislike her teaching style. She speaks too fast and rushes through lectures. Maybe its just me but I personally wouldn't recommend her.
Do not take her unless youre okay with teaching yourself the whole semester. She treats the class as a review class and expected you to know every little thing. Her lectures consist of reading out of a textbook and she goes over one question the whole time for each topic. Doesnt even show different scenarios. Only graded on 3 exams and final.
I would not recommend prof. spitz. She goes way too fast and assumes you know everything. Unless you have a strong background, would not recommend.
Not a great teacher, she expects you to have vast prior knowledge of calculus and makes you seem stupid if you ask a question. I would not recommend her to anyone. I basically bought myself all of calculus.
Great Professor that's willing to work with her students on complex topics.
Unbelievably bad teacher. She rushes, constantly makes mistakes on basic things, forces students to ask questions then insults them when they do. She thinks a proof is picking a number and replacing a variable with it. She does NOT give out a real syllabus, does NOT reply to email, has UNCLEAR grading criteria, does NOT correct your hw.
Even good reviews show she is bad by saying things like "If you are familiar with the concept than her class is easy." In other words, she can't teach you anything. "She has a review before exam and goes through full problems of exactly what will be on the exam." That's grade engineering, and is quasi-cheating. Some HS teachers been fired for that.
Not a good prof, take someone else if you can. Most kids in the class have to teach themselves cause lectures are so confusing and rushed.
I dont understand anything she says and she refuses to help. Worst professor at qc. Nobody likes her.
Avoid if you can. She's only ok if you are a math genius. If you struggle or are merely pretty good at math she will not like you.
Binomial Name: Henyas Spitus HP: Unknown. Mana: (infinite) Description: Her magical powers make Harry Houdini wish he was never born. Special Abilities: - Magically making an answer appear on the board without even writing on it. - Ability to shape-shift during Halloween to a younger version of herself. - Sliced Bread. Ps: shes a good teacher!
I'd give her a ticket if I was a cop cause of how fast she talks and how fast she goes through lesson by lesson. Decided to skip on our class in our final class. Can't really teach at all
Bad teacher who speaks to fast, most of this course has to be self-taught, and her grading is questionable because most people do fail taking her the first time around. My best advice to you is to not take her it's going to be a decision you regret.
Avoid if you can she goes way too fast and is hard to understand. If you're really strong in math then you'll be fine.
She goes way too fast and gives awful explanations at times. Her exams are fairly difficult but not impossible. The way she assigns and collects homework is ridiculous. Would not recommend...
I took this course during the summer so it is VERY fast paced. The professor actually left during the 3rd week for personal reasons but I think she taught the class pretty well. She did speak fast but it wasn't as if you couldn't understand her. She gave quizzes which helped boost your grade and if you didn't do well it wasn't counted against you.
She is a very fast paced professor but seems to mean well for her students. Usually going through material quickly as to have a lot of time review for the final. But with this in mind she does provide quizzes to your benefit and tends to grade on how much you know rather then if you got it right. If you can handle the speed i would recommend her.
Very clear. Easy grader. She will explain everything multiple times until you understand the material.
Professor Spitz is great. She is so patient with her students. She'll spend as much time as needed to answer questions. She writes all the notes and problems on the board to copy. She is a fair grader, not out to get us. Come to class and study and youll do well. She made the math understandable even though its a hard topic. So caring and helpful!
She knows her material but she doesn't know how to explain it. You need to read the textbook in class so be ready to bring it every class. She will go over the examples in the book but doesn't really explain it, only copy from the book. Test are difficult to understand and many errors that she tries to correct during test time.
Great professor, tests were based on classwork and homework. She gives an in-depth review on the material before exams. Many of the quiz questions were on the exams. Study off quizzes and homework problems and you'll be good. She's a good lecturer, clear and makes sure students understand before advancing. Gotta work for the A though.
If you are good at math you will enjoy her class. She goes very fast threw material but knows what she is talking about and gives a LOT of examples for you to work on. She makes you work for your grade though so be ready to study a lot at home.
Great person with a passion for math. But, she talks way too fast and rushes through the course. Spends way too much time going over homework instead of teaching. If you're naturally good at math, take her. If you need extra support, consider someone else. Great person, but not a great teacher. She'll answer any questions you have in detail, though
She's a nice person but she makes the class difficult by going way too fast, she makes you bring the textbook everyday which is really annoying. Her exams aren't too bad but she makes them too long for the amount of class time we have to complete it. I would not recommend.
I liked this professor. She gives a very good review before every exam. Do your homework regularly as she collects them regularly and can give you extra credit. Doing the homework regularly will definitely ensure an A from this class.
She's SO FAST so get ready to write non stop during lecture. She's energetic, funny and totally approachable. DONT SKIP CLASS! She goes over hw questions and gives extra credit if you hand it in every week. Gives mini quizzes to boost your grade too. Only reason I didn't do well is bc I didn't study enough so do the hw!!
I feel that she is very fast and she doesn't understand her students very well. She does problems and gets them wrong and wastes our time. She gives a lot of homework and she doesn't thoroughly explain exactly what homework to do.
This is my second time taking her, I also took 141 with her. She really helps you understand how to solve and think about every concept. She gives alot of partial credit on the exams and sometimes gives a quiz before the exam for extra credit (if its a low quiz grade she doesnt count it). Her tests arent difficult, no trick questions
probably one of your best bets for calc but thats not saying much. she moves super fast and can be hard to understand.. has no concept of time management; cancels class whenever she wants and then makes us come in on off days for makeup classes. homework is only a 1 or 2 point boost on your average which is ridic like come on..
she says she will "weigh the percentages in your favor" but thats a complete lie!! if she doesnt mean it she shouldnt say it bc now people who couldve dropped the class instead now have their gpa hurt bc of this lie. avoid her
Professor Spitz cares a LOT. She wants every student to pass. Unfortunately, I feel that she could do a better job in breaking down the Math and making it intuitive. One of the better professors for sure though.
Amazing professor hard class. She always answers questions and looks to see if anyone looks confused to answer their questions. She really cares for her students and wants everyone to do well. Even though the material is hard if you do the homework and study you will do well!!! Wish she taught all math levels!
I would only take her again b/c I would know what to expect. She does care for her students but I feel she kind of rushes. Her tests are a bit strange to me because she makes them harder than the problems in the hw and the ones we go over. B/c you haven't practiced that type of problem(s) you struggle on the test. Great class if youre good at math.
Shes very sweet and not a bad math professor. However she rushes too much and sometimes on exams she brings question types that are not shown in the textbook or in lecture. Take her if youre willing to do extra studies etc. Her HW and attendance are basically extra credit. Her overall grading is funky it depends on how you do in general.
Fantastic! The rumors of her quickness, are false. She asks frequently if she's going too fast, and slows down if you ask. She really made calc crystal clear, something I never thought I could say. It's not an *easy* A, but the hours you're gonna put in aren't gonna be insane. Only checks if you do hw. Tests just like review.
I only rate her bad because she has an unclear policy for grading. She should break these down more, and let students know their grades before submission. Not everyone is well aware of their final grades, its helpful to know where people lie grade wise. She needs to improve on that strongly.
Take another professor, she may be better in person but online she was horrible. Exams were rushed, and material did not get the attention needed.
I got an A- but not by her guidance. She rushed exams, material, and anything she had during lectures on Zoom. I suspect she's an in-person type of professor, but still she did not help many students. She has no syllabus, and barely any answers to questions about it when asked in class. She needs to be more clear, and avoid getting overwhelmed.
Professor Spitz is honestly the best professor you can get for Math 151. She makes sure to go over any concept that isn't understood and makes you write each step on how to solve it. She does give a lot of h.w that is annoying, but it helps on tests b/c the problems are identical. I highly recommend her, but you have to put in the work.
I wouldnt say shes worth the rave as students say. Yeah place in the work and youll do good, but I found her to be unclear with her policies and teaching. Find another professor. This professor didnt adjust to the technology which I know is hard but it hurt a lot. I found her to be too slack too, and again very unclear.
Could be a better Professor, and avoid the rushing. Not a good semester to rush, and I dont feel ready for calc 2. In college we are supposed to teach ourselves yes but when the guidance isnt there what can you say. I think she should have an assistant in class to help her with the online stuff. Shes a good in person Prof though.
barely gave feedback and had no office hours after the pandemic
She is fast but she keeps asking whether you understand the problem or not. also not as good with distance learning but she tries her best. genuinely cares for her students and lenient with HW. Ask her questions and she will explain again and again if you dont get it. Hilarious laughs!
Could do better. I did not enjoy how she taught students. Shes not too strict so some students take advantage.
extra help was a joke in her class...
Shes caring which is great but when it comes to learning math material I wouldnt suggest her. Her homework does not count for much at all. My grade was literally an average of all my tests. She had trouble adjusting to the online stuff so she really did skimp on the material. I mean she asks if youre understanding but its not enough.
Ironic how someone is downvoting all her bad reviews when it is an opinion based column here. The truth is she cares, but again she can work on her style. Her lack of adjusting to the Zoom programs etc was a detriment to students. If you got an A good for you, but if you need extra assistance in math do not take her. What she says is contradictory.
She is mediocre at most, sure she cares but when it comes to learning there is no actual learning. She makes you bring a textbook around which is fine, but when it comes down to it she really just reads from the book and writes notes. Her internet skills are as bad as how she grades. As the reviewers say, take her at your own risk.
Every bad comment has a down vote wow. Shes not a good professor, she cares but thats not enough. Take as you wish but dont expect a clear policy to follow.
I would rather not.... she doesnt explain well and her syllabus is literally nothing
I thought I was horrible at math, because I did not do so "hot" in her class this Spring. I followed all her advice, and studied for my exams and still I was at a loss. In the midst of retaking this course during the Summer with an even harder prof, I would say she does not do her job well. No syllabus, no breakdown, and she can't use the internet.
I took this class again in the summer with a different professor who was supposedly more difficult, and fully online. Her class was in person for a bit, and online. Half of her students cheated, and she remained oblivious. She only averages in all your grades, and drops the lowest exam--there are no formal weights. HW is nothing.
I had her last semester, and let me just say while I took 142 with a different professor I found ease and better confidence in math. She has no clear syllabus, her extra credit for HW is untrue, and she doesnt know how to grade. Honestly, take a different professor; she isnt tech-savvy at all also. I thought I was bad at math, turns out Im not.
Professor Spitz is super all over the place which can get really frustrating. She often struggles to articulate, and has a hard time answering questions without getting overwhelmed. That being said, she certainly cares about her students, so if you put in the effort, it shouldn't be too hard. She does in depth reviews before tests which are great.
If she cared about students she would try to improve her style of teaching, no need to sugar coat it. She could barely respond to emails, and barely explain things. Either study on your own wholeheartedly or find another professor. Care extends far more than just saying it, if you cant show it then there is no use. Never again...
She's great! She does really good review before exam and those reviews are really helpful to do well in the exam. Do the homework regularly. She tells you what to read or not. I felt less stress in her class.
Had her for 141 in Spring '20, and she is not worth the hype. She had no grading policy, and she kept changing which exams were to be dropped. People were sly about tests, and she was clueless. Do the work on your own, and avoid depending on her for math help. Truly the worst experience I had in calc, couldn't even upload grades on BB.
Great Professor! Tests based off of homework problems. Study hard and you will do well.
type of teacher to lead you on and make you think youll end up with a good grade instead of just being straight forward. in the end she will *ahem* you up royally. doesnt care about her students, she will say that over and over again but doesnt mean it..
When coming to this class she expects you to have a really good background in everything. She gets upset when you don't understand things that may be "simple" to her but are confusing to you. 4 tests and she drops the lowest grade, sometimes she has a final. Not such a great teacher but she can be nice. (SHE CAN BE REALLY FRUSTRATING!!!!)
Just make sure you study and do her homework She gives alot of homework but it is good
Professor Spitz really wasnt bad. She constantly makes sure that the class knows what she is doing and will always answer questions if someone is lost. She may not explain things that well, but we are tested on what we learn, so there are no surprises. I would take her again if I could.
Yet another semester of doing well in calculus, her calc 141 class was awful lol and a reflection of how she shows favoritism to certain groups. Cant operate an email or BB or zoom. Find another professor. Seriously, youll be better off. I did significantly better with better guidance and support. Which she gave to certain students only.
(Online class ) currently taking her for the summer and she's perfectly fine for a calc. professor. It's not an easy subject so you have to put the work in. don't expect to be lazy and pass with flying colors
Teaches like we're living in the stone age. Terrible hand writing. So much homework. Being on camera is required every class, and blocks chat function so you have to communicate to only her with your mic. Can't even have a group chat to link since its blocked. Take at your own risk.
Not very helpful and lay teaching.
All I am going to say is she has a screw loose. I got 30 on my first exam she made a mistake grading I even confirmed that through people that my solutions were correct. Not just that I kept asking her to go over my exam with me she scheduled a meeting and never showed up. AVOID AT ALL COST.
worst math class i've ever had. Smart Woman, Horrible Teaching Skills! Tough grader.
She's is a caring teacher, but she's so terrible at informing her students and teaching the class. She gave me 10 HW after she finally let me into the class. But the Homework was too much, even my boyfriend ( who passed MAT122) looked at my hw and called her a Monster because she makes it more difficult then it should be for the class. So 0 stars.
STAY AWAY! If I could give her a 0 rating, I would. She's easily the most disorganized professor I've ever had, and she never made anything clear. "Teaches like we're living in the stone age" is what exactly sounds like.
Im not sure if she doesnt know how to write a syllabus or just doesnt bother
Yes, she does give a lot of HW because she wants us to understand and pass (the hw is harder than the test which makes the test that much easier). Her tests are very easy like 10 easy questions, and you get over an hour for that. In my high school the tests were harder literally 25 hard q's for only 45 minutes. She isn't a tough grader. Take her!
I took BC calc in high school, so this class wasn't too bad. Tests and final make up 90% of your grade and Hw is 10%. Be prepared to do A LOT of homework. Tells you exactly which questions will be on tests. Dropped one test for my class, which was great. Not so great at explaining every topic. Might require you to teach yourself a bit.
Dropped her the first week I had her. She doesn't know how to explain properly and all she does is keep on asking whether you get it or not. She not a bad person just doesn't know how to teach the class. If your a 100% self learner I recommend you take the class, if not then it's better to avoid.
Ignore all bad reviews. Took her for 122 and she really wants everyone to do well. Homework due every class is worth 10% of your grade. (graded on completeness not correctness) and then 3 tests and one departmental final. Her pre-exam review is an exact copy(almost) of the test she gives in class. She's also very funny.
Don't miss any classes. She's heavy on the homework but tests are 100% based on hw, so make sure you complete them. It's 151, not 141. So make sure you're prepared to put in the work.
Attend class every day and do the homework. She doesn't expect it to be completed 100% but the more you do, the more it helps you. She gives good test reviews which most of the test problems come from so practicing the test review questions again could give a decent score. Quizzes aren't counted unless you do good.
She is extremely fast so pace yourself during class. I believe she needs to spend more time properly going over the steps for a math problem, and needs to explain it to me like I'm a five year old. She will constantly say "are you with me" so get ready for that. However, she clearly goes over what will be on the exam and exams are exactly like that
Gives extremely thourough reviews before every exam. She practically tells you what will be on it and just changes the numbers. 1st exam i got a 103 because it was exactly what she told us would be on it! Her teaching is quite weird but trust me you will be suited for every exam. She also has quizzes that only count if it helps your grade.
Absolutely horrendous teacher oh my god
She's good but can't tell if she's a prof or a rapper because she be talking too much. Okay, I pull up. I recomend
Complete opposite of online savvy, talks too much about other stuff, and gives wayyyy too much homework. On average its about 10 - 15 questions you have to complete on paper and she gives another set after every single lecture so if you miss one it gets difficult to catch up. Also her tests and quizzes are something else
She is a great teacher but she does have many flaws. She goes by very quickly through the lesson but does slow down as long as you ask questions so always ask. She has homework due every class but it only helps prepare you for the 3 exams which are much easier with her review sessions. If you can't pay attention don't take this class
If you go to class and do the homework then this class is super hard to fail. She goes through the material fast because it's a 151 class but she will slow down if you ask her to. She also adjusts her teaching due to how her students do. She also is a pretty lenient grader. She gives you the test problems in class so make sure to go!!
Ms. Spitz is a great professor. As long as you go to classes and do the homework you will do well. She goes over questions that will be on the test. She is clear and straightforward.
"If you can't pay attention don't take this class", please save it. This is a math class, and she does not help "much" in a way that will aid you as a college student, you need to practice and do your thing on the side because her teaching style can be chaotic. Take with a younger professor who is more in tune with the changing times.
Pick another teacher, she does not use any form of technology whatsoever. Your homework is assigned and submitted on paper and all announcements are made in class. I know a lot of students alongside me barely passed. Her lectures are all over the place and honestly my calc class was easier to follow. She assigns a lot of homework.
Don't even take this professor as a last resort. Shes a hot mess. She teaches like shes hyper and her classes were always disorganized. Never missed a class, participated, went to office hours and still managed to recieve a D. All I needed was a C to take Calculus since this was a pre-requisite. No way of communicating with her either. Trust me pls
Prof. Spitz can be all over the place sometimes and teach at a rapid pace, you need to really apply time out of class to understand the material in class. The homework can be tedious at times in length. Your grade is made up of 4 exams in which she drops the lowest grade and homework.
she is so kind, just pay attention to class, reviews are exactly like exams!
I loved Henya Spitz. Yes, her lectures are all over the place but she prepares for each exam very well. She tells you exactly what will be on the test so there are not any tricks. There is homework due every class but it is worth it for the exams and the final. Also she will slow down her teaching if your are not understanding a topic.
Professor Spitz isn't the worst but the class was a mess, she will respond to emails but won't use any sort of tech. Her review sessions are what's on her exams which makes them "solid" but the final on the other hand isn't. If you are going to take this class revise the dept finals and go to the tutoring center this professor won't help you.
Professor Spitz teaches fast, she mumbles under her breath, and her board is always chalky. But her syllabus is very organized and she always reviews each topic before a quiz/exam, but the work has to be done in her way. Her homework may seem like a lot(it's really not tbh), but doing it really helped me get the practice I needed to ace the tests.
i had professor henya spitz for both math 122 and math 151. a lot of people in the class said she was too fast, but i personally really liked her as a professor. her exams are very straightforward, and she drops the lowest grade. she does give a lot of homework, but overall math 151 is a lot in one semester, and i thought she taught it really well
