Hes a cool teacher. Let us come late and leave early. He also knows what hes talking about, so you could learn from him, not so much the book material but real life. He has his own clothing company. Assigns good "real Life" projects
he is nice but his test is not clear and every test is type of essay. his lecture is also not clear...
Horrible class. The man talks and goes off topic. Test are the worst! He's maybe a nice man but the class isn't worth it!
I'm sure there are a lot of better professors for this course, but if you get Frichner, dont sweat it. He is a very easy man, and the course is very easy. No textbook use, strictly from notes, so be there every class. He was a very nice man and liked to get to know students on a personal level. Lectures were a little boring, but overall, great guy.
He is a really nice man, and his class is easy and casual. He grades fairly, and is always willing to listen and help. He makes it easy to do well, and is very considerate to students.
Don't buy text. You won't use it. Guy is nice. Class is easy if you are semi smart. Hardly any work. I got an A. 3 essay tests and a 2-4 pg paper. The class is super boring but if you can sit through it then you can do well. He gets off topic and you learn close to nothing but its an easy way to get rid of a requirement.
this class was soooo boring!!! Prof. Frichner is nice and respectful but his lectures are not interesting at all! no book is needed
such a boring class but an easy A! 3 tests should be a breeze if you managed to stay awake for some of the lectures, no hw assigments and no textbook readings were necessary. He was a decent guy but not interesting, even when he tried to be thought-provoking.
He is very BORING. DO NOT BUY THE TEXT. I fell asleep almost every class. If you miss a test you will have to do 2 papers to make it up. He is very knowledgeable and will answer any questions that you have. Very professional and an excellent teacher and industry source.
cool guy, cool class, easy A. don't buy the book.
He is an incredibly knowledgeable teacher. He teaches from experience and does not use the textbook. I really appreciate having him as my teacher and the projects/midterms are "real life" projects. Although his class can get a bit boing but thats when you have to remember why your in that class and what you want to do when you grow up.
very cute and sense of style, loved it but DO NOT GET THE TEXTBOOK. dont waste yourmoney he goes over everything anyway really
This professor has been in the industry for a long time and is very knowledgeable of the business...but unfortunately, he CANNOT teach and his lectures are rather long (no break, 3 hrs straight) and boring. Bring a laptop to take notes as he goes through the ppt slides really quick and there's A LOT of notes. Don't bother buying the book either.
RUNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!
Very knowledgeable about the industry.Very nice, but not the best at explaining. I found the end of semester project to be confusing because he didn't explain it well..more time would have been nice too. Tests weren't bad, they are all essays and as long as you sound like you know what you are talking about, you'll do fine on them.
Prof Frichner is fantastic! He is so passionate and knowledgeable about the fashion industry- I was captivated by all of his lecturers! As long as you come to class and take notes there's no need to buy the textbook. His essay format exams are fair and the final project was so simple! Definitely recommend him!
loved his class! very knowledgeable about the industry and he is passionate about marketing! haha. He expects high quality work from his students and you will learn a lot!
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HIM!!!!!! MY FAVORITE PROF BY FAR
Prof. Frichner is definitely very knowledgeable of the industry. At first I though he was a bit cocky but he is actually very nice. His class was filled with animated lectures, however I did find a lot of trouble with the Term Project... He didn't explain it thoroughly but overall I did well. His tests are essays so be sure you prepare for them.
The sweetest man! He gives you time to work on the final project in class. If you're not clear on it, make sure you ask him questions. He really is willing to help. He will always say hi when he sees you around. One of my favorite professors. He's very lenient on the essay format tests. He lectures are fairly boring and repetitive but just try your best to listen and study your Powerpoint notes before the texts, he only asks about the main points.
Nice guy, talks a lot but gets his point across. Tests are essay which makes it easier to do well. Gives time for final project in class so you can ask questions.
Such a boring class. he reads the powerpoints and puts them up on angel, so a textbook doesn't serve much use. Didn't really enjoy him as a professor. he assigned us essays as our tests and the only challenging part of the class was the final project.
I took him twice. He treats class like a performance and has a strict attendance policy. He WILL drop you. The worst part of his class are exams... all essays, questions can be brutal, but he's a liberal grader. Don't buy the book because his ppts are taken from the publisher and they are up on angel. He will help you out if you ask.
He's a tough professor. But considering what he expects from college students, this isn't so bad. Just be sure to pay attention during classes and be able to improvise on the information he gives you.
This class is really what you make it. You don't need the book he teaches from and gives you the power points. Tests are essays but he tells you what to study if you study you can't fail. Stay awake or he will feel disrespected! The group project is super easy. He isn't very helpful because he's intimidating but your grade is basically up to you!
Very long, boring lectures. He talks from PPs, and the tests are taken directly from those; You'll have to dig through everything to find the answers though. Tests are blue book essays, he does tell you exactly what's on them though. Worst part is that I learned absolutely nothing in this class; Teaches the same stuff as AC111+FM116.
Very repetitive and lectures are long and boring. He uses powerpoints that he puts on Angel, so there's no need for the textbook. Exams are essay format, but he emails what the questions will be about so just study those points and you'll be fine. Big final group project at the end. Didn't feel like I learned that much. Would not take him again.
Dreaded going to his class. Reminiscent of Robert California from The Office but with a much bigger ego. Super boring lectures.
Very easy class. He made it as clear as possible. Helpful if you have any kind of question. Tests are essays and he gives the topic for it in advance. What else can you ask for? Definetely take it!
This class is easy, if you study. All exams are essay style but the questions can be brutal. The more you write, the more points you're able to get. When you're answering questions make sure your answers are simple but be ready to emphasize. Extra credit is available, and there's a group project. Don't be afraid to ask for help, Herb is a sweet guy
I honestly thought he was very boring. He's older and is knowledgable, but makes everything you talk about about himself and his former business. He also reads directly from the slides, so i barely paid attention. Tests are all in essay format, but he provides a study guide. Not an exciting teacher. not a hard teacher.
Horrible lectures, not interesting and full of nasty attitude. One of the students got assigned extra work just for asking a question and trying to debate it. STAY AWAY
The class was easy for the most part. Midterm and final are the only exams and both are short answer. You get study guides so its not that bad, the more you write the better. Everything is on power point so you don't need the text. He will get pissed and call you out if you don't pay attention in class.
Prof. Frichner is very professional, knowledgeable, passionate, classy, & funny. His lectures are interesting; he prepares you well for the real world. There are 3 tests (essay format) & a final team project. He is clear & answers your questions. You can use the book if you want to, but he explains everything well in class. Want to learn? Take him!
All exams are essay form, not that easy. May be arrogant yet he knows what he is talking about. very long lectures
Extremely arrogant and boring. Has experience but seems old/outdated. Lectures are unbearably boring and makes class feel scared to answer questions because he is always right
Participation matters - even if you're wrong every time. Just be polite, pay attention to the lectures & observe his colorful, arrogant personality - there are many like him in the industry so you should learn how he operates. Tough guy but he also cares, and is aware of his pompous attitude. A real piece of work who I wound up really appreciating.
I would not recommend this professor. His old fashioned monotone one-way lectures are endless. He calls people out and asks questions that he will not accept any answer besides his for. This made me really hate marketing, and I dreaded every class. Midterm and Final are essay form, but he grades pretty lightly, so that's good.
Very long repetitive lectures. Not interesting. Did not learn anything new. Same class as AC111 essentially. Tests are essay style, pretty easy if you write all you can think of. Final group project requires a lot of work.
Even though his lectures are very long, I recommend taking this class is you're aspiring for an A. As long as you know the material, and can explain it well on the tests, you'll receive an A. Also, avoid paying more attention to your computer than him , he will for sure call you out on it.
Arrogant, smug, not that smart, and not very informed about the material. The tests didn't seem that related to the class material. Take his study guides and learn the relevant power points by heart.
So stuck up and arrogant. Unless you give him the exact words as an answer, he will say no. super boring class. DO NOT TAKE
He calls on you during class even if you do not raise your hand. Just pay attention and get your work done each week and it will be really easy to get an A. Tests are essay style and easy enough to do even if you did not study, but study and you will get an easy A.
Take him!! He does not give any homework so you just show up to class and listen to him lecture. He is one of those guys that always has to be right. Class was supposed to be 3 hours but he let us out an hour early every time.
super lecture heavy and will call on you even if you do not have you r hand raised, if you do not say the answer the way he would or try to prove him wrong he will call you out. always has to be right but does not give homework, super long lectures, holds all 3 hours and tests are all essays based on memory
At first after reading all these reviews I was scared and didn't like him but I actually really enjoy his class now. The test are essay format and he is a light grader. I actually am learning in this class as suppose to reading a book and memorizing answers. The class is kind of intimidating bc he calls out students but really easy! +No book
AMAZING PROFESSOR! He thoroughly explains the material (which can get repetitive and boring, but extremely helpful) and is very kind. He only gives two exams which are essay based- but he emails the class what to study and everything he says will be on the test are actually on the test. Participation matters. Super easy class. Just pay attention!
This is a class for an easy A. You have two exams during the semester and a group project. You don't need the textbook, his lectures cover everything he wants you to know. I didn't enjoy his lectures as they were often repetitive and very reflective of FM116. I didn't care for him as a professor. You have to give the exact answer he wants.
Professor Herb is quite a character! He was intimidating at first with his theatrics and essay only tests. He is very lecture heavy but he is so dramatic and funny it makes it not too bad. If you have any questions at all he is always there to listen! Easy class if you pay attention and write everything down! He practically wrote the course!
So rude to his students and doesn't really want to help them. He is very condescending and arrogant and stuck in his old ways. His tests are essays. His review sheets are very confusing and vague and is not helpful when you email him. Don't take him.
Boring, reads off powerpoints, makes you look dumb in front of the class for not answering exactly as he words things. You won't learn anything new in this class & asking him for clarification means him just repeating himself. Easy to pass but not enjoyable & he has an ego. Textbook wasn't needed but he told us to buy it. Just take someone else.
Prof Frichner wasn't the best, but it was an easy class to pass. There's 3 tests and a group project that was very lengthy. Could be nice but very rude at times.
Professor has many experiences related to fashion marketing, choose him and do study for the ppt, you'll get good grades. He also emails test study information to students before the exams.
Easy A. Only has three exams and a final project for 114/117. Dismisses you an hour early. Show up to lecture and youll be fine. Like every FBM professor, he has an ego you just have to sit through. Asking for help means he rolls his eyes, repeats himself, and makes you look dumb.
I highly recommend taking this class with him as you get no homework, two midterms which are both essay based and relatively easy if you pay attention in class , a group term project which was interesting and a final essay exam. He ended my 630-930pm class an hour early and his lectures were easy to follow and the content was explained well.
The Professor is very mean to students. I dont feel comfortable in the classroom, Im afraid to ask questions or answer his. I did not learn ANYTHING during his lectures, all the information I got was from the textbook.
big ego about his company. He repeats himself a lot and rambles. The essay tests aren't hard and he seems to grade easy but his wording sucks and is confusing. It's just another sit through class where you pretend to pay attention. If he asks a question, ur probs right and he'll say ur wrong and resay ur answer in diff wording.
Professor Frichner is very knowledgable in the industry and is really adamant about participation. His lectures are information-heavy but he gives us the prompts on the midterm beforehand. The final is a presentation that may be tricky, but as long as you follow his guidelines he's an easy A. Be prepared to answer his questions though.
Prof Frichner is an awesome professor, he is very knowledgeable about the industry and really wants his students to understand and be successful. He lectures the entire time but he is not boring at all, actually extremely interesting. Very few quizzes, all essay based and final is a project. I really recommend u take him, he was my favorite prof.
Professor Frichner was extremely knowledgeable and has so much experience in the fashion industry. You will learn from taking his class, make sure to take notes since he can drop some real gems of info. Weekly chapter summaries, and a final project that stressed me out a bit. Work on it early and save yourself the headache!
Wasn't my first choice, but I had to take him. I don't think he's a good professor when it comes to teaching remotely. There's a 15 minute presentation you have to present to the class individually for the final project and apart from being absolutely absurd and inconsiderate, I think its extra. Also very condescending when you ask questions.
I had Prof Frichner 2 semesters in a row. Overall nice guy. He can get kinda boring during lectures but he talks about his personal experiences in the industry which is cool. He always lets out his night classes an hour or more early which was awesome. He never assigns homework and only gives 2 easy essay based exams and a project.
Not only bad at teaching but he is also mean. What he teaches is outdated and is stuff that we would not be using in the real world. He gets frustrated and almost yells when someone does not understand a topic. Our final assignment was meant to be group based however he makes us do it on our own ( 6-8 page paper along with a 15 minute presentation)
He is okay as a professor. His lectures are really long but as long as you do the weekly summaries, you should be fine. The final project is a 6-8 page paper and a 15 minute presentation but it's not as bad as it seems.
Professor Frichner is a very lecture and essay heavy professor. You write essays weekly that tally up and replace a final exam. You have a final group project instead. He is an easy grader and if you like lecture lessons like myself I do recommend him greatly. However, if you aren't one to regularly participate in class, he can come off a bit tough
FIT isn't a hard school but it seems like this professor was trying to prove otherwise. He's very condescending. I never wanted to participate because he's so rude. The lectures were very boring and the exams are all hand-written. Don't take his class if you genuinely want to enjoy your learning experience. He's no fun and he always seems grumpy.
Prof. Frinchner was a good professor for this course. I learned about the basics of business and how it applies to the fashion industry. There is a summary due almost every week about a chapter from the book, which can be a bit of a drag. He really values students who actively participate. His tests are all essays and passable if you memorize notes
Very boring and long lectures. You have to do summaries about each chapter and print them each week. The tests were essay tests and you have to memorize everything to get a decent grade. The final project is a group project about making your own business.
Very long lectures and he will sit right in front of the projector so you can't see. He will ask for your opinion or answer on a question he asks you then he will proceed to say "No, you're incorrect nice try though" then continues saying the same thing but in different wording. Easy grader and all you do is write summaries for chapters. He's sassy
If you take him, do not take things personally. His general demeanor can sound condescending, but he truly does want students to succeed, and if you communicate with him he is always willing to help. He values students who put in effort and attempt to engage in the content. I once wrote an extra summary by accident and he gave me extra credit.
The students that failed or disliked the professor, were the ones who did not study/pay attention in class. This is the class I had to put the most amount of hours into this semester, HOWEVER it is also the class I got the most knowledge out of. The professor really knows what he's talking about and if you're a committed student, the class is great
Do yourself a favor and just don't take him
I wouldn't recommend taking Professor Frichner, he is not open minded to student comments or ideas as he is already too focus on his own which makes him sound rude. He gives a lot of homework which is helpful to understand the content. His class is really lecture heavy, and he randomly calls out people to answer questions.
Class structure was him lecturing the entire time and randomly calling on people so make sure to pay attention. Only homework were chapter summaries of the textbook and a bit of studying. No MC quizzes or exams, only essays. His thinking seems to be quite outdated but he does have experience. Wouldn't recommend if you have another option for prof.
when i was registering for courses and this professor was the only one available, i was skeptical to take it from all the terrible reviews. Im not sure if we have had the same professor because he is awesome! coming from someone who hates school and homework his class is enjoyable and to the point. he ends early and starts late too.
Gave me a B on every single assignment for no reason other than it being the second class I took him in. I emailed him about technical issues which he said "no problem". Class comes and he REPEATEDLY asks me to present my project when I TOLD HIM I AM UNABLE TO SHARE MY SCREEN BECAUSE I ONLY HAD MY IPAD TO WORK WITH which did not have that feature.
I saw so many bad reviews for him but he was great! His lectures were entertaining, he was so nice, and I never dreaded going to his class. Assignments and tests were very fair. I recommend taking his class!!
I took FM231- Strategies of Selling with him and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. His lectures can get really heavy. The class itself is easy and the only homework that he asks for are summaries of the book's chapters, which are graded but he never tells you or posts the grade of them. He can also give you mean answers for no reason.
Not a good professor, he is outdated in his industry experience and can be rude, and is consistently unclear in his instructions. While I don't doubt his industry experience and knowledge there are other professors with the same if not better industry and business understanding for less of the stress and rudeness Professor Frichner displays.
I took him for FM 231 (strategies of selling) and he was lecture heavy and made us do summaries on chapters but it was not difficult. He does use all three hours and has a lot of knowledge on this subject. His test were essay exams and grades off of how in depth you get. I honestly really liked him.
Prof Frichner will lecture the entire class, but you'll usually get out early. You'll have a chapter summer essay due each week which can be a lot, but you wont get any other homework. Class gets a but repetitive after awhile.
He was so kind and nice and helpful to anything I needed I genuinely dont know why he has bad reviews it was probably those who didn't pay attention because he would call on the kids in the back who stared at their computer the whole time and get annoyed when they would ask to repeat the question but he's so understanding and literally my fav
Frichner is a respected, experienced professor who's been in the game a long time. He teaches business in an old-school way, but it's valuable—you get a real understanding of the foundations of fashion business. Sometimes it's better to learn from someone wise than just chase what's modern. Take him if you can—his homework and projects are easy.
This professor is difficult to learn from. He lectures nonstop with little student interaction, gives unclear instructions, and grades inconsistently. His attitude can be rude and dismissive, with some outdated or sexist comments. Also struggles with online tools, making assignments confusing and frustrating.
Prof. Frichner expects 3 main things from his students: chapter summary each class, 2-3 essay exams and in-class participation. There's also one final term project which is very easy to do. He's very clear with his instructions, doesn't like it when students disrespect him and picks on you if you're not paying attention. I would take him again!
Professor Frichner is old school and assigns essays instead of projects. He talks a lot, lets you out early, and shares helpful industry experience. His final project is time-consuming start early. Class can be confusing, but he's very helpful with questions.
