He's very nice, but can be a tiny bit mean. He's very attractive :) He's highly intelligent and encourages his students to succeed and do all their work. I would take him again.

I had so much fun while I'm taking he's class in summer. he's really funny but he's serious when he's teaching. he is so professional, take with him if you really want to get something from this class.!!

Hes a very interesting teacher.Class was never boring but if your an uptight person dont bother taking the class he will drive you crazy. Class was a bit difficult but he explains everything and wants you to understand and learn. Accent is a bit tough initially. Be prepared to do lots of studying,he gets irritated if unprepared. He creates an extremely open, social environment which was helpful for me as I am not normally particularly talkative in class. He is extremely knowledgeable but won't be accommodating or helpful if you act like an idiot. Take him if you are interested in taking a challenging class... for Pima, anyway.

He is an unconventional professor who keeps class challenging but fun, he is laid back in a real way not in a way that it is ok to screw around in his class, if you like to text and slack off and expect to get a good grade don't bother. He is engaging, willing to take suggestions from students, and explain things so they pertain to real life.

I actually learned a lot in his class. Sometimes the lessons were fun and he engaged the students in his lectures. But I wouldn't recommend the class just because he can be a complete jerk sometimes. He has ruined my day quite a few times with the things he's said to me.

About half my class didn't like him but i have no idea why. I really liked this teacher, he will provide you with every piece of information you will need to pass this class. This class is NOT easy, but it's completely fair. He's a hilarious teacher, & clearly loves biology (: If you're a good student & you like bio take this class. I'm glad i did.

This was one of the best professors I have ever had. He man be too straight forward and perhaps crud at times, But that's what made him awesome. I looked forward to going to this class everyday and had fun. This class, however, is not easy. He expects you to do your reading and ask questions when in doubt. Plenty of cocktail party material. ;)

I was interested in Biology in general before I attended Hernan's class, and have walked away with a passion for it. Professor Aubert is hands down the best instructor I have had yet to date. His love of the science drives his students to new heights. His character is sometimes abrasive, but if you take his class seriously you will have a blast.

Hernan in one of my favorite all time professors. He has a passion for Biology and it shows in his teaching. He "shoots from the hip" so to speak in class discussions which makes things more lively. If you are at all interested in Biology or even Science I highly recommend Hernan. I am grateful for inspiring teachers like him.

Best professor I have had at PCC. He was very understanding of personal circumstances but cuts no slack. He wants to challenge you which may frustrate you but in the end you'll be glad he did. Most information retained from any class I've taken, and it was a summer class. I would have him for every class if it was possible.

I came into this course a bit annoyed & regretting my decision, because it was summer. My goal was to get a C but I quickly found out that it wouldn't be easy. He challenged me a lot and I was so immersed in biology that I ended up with a B! Honestly the most informative science class ever!

From the first day to the last, he explained some of the most complicated science stuff with analogies that college students would understand. That shows just how personable he is. He is a big time jokester but don't take him putting you on the spot (occasionally or constantly) so serious. TRUST ME! I learned from each wrong answer I gave.

Hernan gives a very clear and entertaining lecture. His test are hard, but not unfair. Everything he ever asked on a test is something he had spoke about in class. he doesn't read off of power points a lot, he kinda uses them to reference and talk to you. even if you don't get an A or an B in he class you will at least learn a lot about bio.

Hernan is the best teacher ever! I loved his teaching method. He always was interesting from day one. He does however forbid cell phone use and has a dunk tank for them. He does not read off power-points and he explains stuff great and in a way you can understand. I am however sad that he does not teach BIO 182!

Loved this262 teacher! Even though he drives you crazy you learn so much. If you cant take a joke DO Not take this class. Calls you out on everything! But dont be intimidated, quizzes and tests arent too bad if you pay attention in class. VERY old school and wants nothing to do with technology. Bottom line, great teacher!

I took Bio 156 for fall semester 2013. Hernan is a great professor! If you don't have thick skin don't take his class, he likes to joke around and will pick on students to make sure you understand the material. I learned sooo much and this class prepared me for BIO 201. If he was teaching A&P I would take him in a heartbeat. Thank you Hernan! Diana

Professor Aubert has exceeded all expectations that I have had for any teacher. He really cares for his students and wants them to actually know and understand the material and not just memorize and regurgitate. He is amazing, I wish more teachers taught like him and were as interesting as him. He knows how to make his students laugh too! :)

Come into this class ready to put some work in. Hernan actually wants you to learn the material, and will take time to explain the concepts fully. This comes at a price though, there is a short quiz every week, and his exams will test your knowledge and application of the information. That said, you may not find a better Bio Professor.

Hernan is an excellent professor who goes above and beyond of what he teaches. Really great at clarifying and simplifying tough subjects. Makes class really fun and interesting. Has a lot of interesting things to talk about and if you pay attention, you can learn a lot so just put forth effort and you will do great!

Best bio teacher alive. this guy makes a four hour class look like an hour with a very interactive and engaging teaching approach. he has good humor and likes to put people on the spot so prepare to loosen up and take jokes(college level jokes). you wont get a better deal for a teacher than this.

Dr. Aubert used a lot of good examples and analogies that were easy to understand and drew attention. Although he can be a bit abrasive at times in class, he goes through things thoroughly and is willing to admit his own mistakes. His grading is fair and I recommend this teacher.

He was an amazing professor! His test were hard and his grading can be pretty rough but unlike most classes I've taken in college, I actually learned in this class. He stresses creative thought and not "memorization and regurgitation" so you will need to show him you are serious about learning.

Great teacher! I took BIO 181 in Summer 2015 as my first ever acceleratedSummer course and finished today with an 88%. As much as I would like to say that his grading was "unfair", I cannot because he tells you exactly what he wants - you just have to learn it. The class was fun and I actually felt like I've learned something. Study hard. (:

I took his summer session, which involved 4 12 hour classes. Somehow, he managed to make these long lectures interesting and easy to listen to. He has a good sense of humor, but expects nothing but your full attention. Deffinitely take this class... And he gives you a break almost every hour.

He was one of the best professors I have ever had! VERY TOUGH grader, but the class was worth it. If you really want to learn this is the class to take, I learned more in a few weeks about Biology and Chemistry than I could ever learn in an entire semester. He is a character, likes to have fun with his students and really wants you to learn!

His various teaching styles helped me grasp the material and also taught me how to study science. This was by far one of my most useful courses. Best teacher I've had @ NW campus so far. Pretty unconventional, but knows what he's doing. Has an odd sense of humor that is NOT to be taken seriously. Pokes fun at people and picks on you, but is done with the best intentions. When it's time to work, you get the grade that you deserve. Just do what he asks of you and you'll do great.

Hernan is a great instructor. He is knowledgeable and makes lectures interesting with fun stories and relatable analogies. Be prepared to study in this class. There is a lot of content that is covered. He does his job to deliver the content but it's your job as the student to study and really grasp it.

Hernan is one of those professors that you will never forget. He will not only teach BIO156IN in the best way possible, he will also teach you some topics to talk about at your next cocktail party. I had not taken any Biology classes before so I was lost at 1st, this professor lectures were helpful easy to understand gave different examples and answered questions made sure we understood so we were prepared for quiz's and exams. Not only did he explain subjects but he also made class fun unlike other instructors that make you sleepy.

There's no textbook needed- all of the material is provided online. He has a quiz every week and does not assign homework, but read the readings before class!! I've taken biology classes where the professors basically read off powerpoint slides. This is certainly not the case for Hernan. He truly cares about the students and wants them to learn the material he will ask questions throughout the class to ensure you comprehend. He's pretty straight forward. Don't be too intimidated by the syllabus.

coming into this class with a little to nothing knowledge of biology will be quite challenging. Hernan makes jokes that shouldn't be taken to heart so be aware if you don't enjoy r-rated jokes do not take this class. He also mentions that sometimes re-taking the class will help you learn more and it does Tough grader. Quizzes every week& CAN teach

I think this class was a lot easier to understand because of Hernan. He made this class a really fun experience which made the material that much easier to learn. He is really picky with answers on quizzes and tests. He can be really harsh. If you can't take a joke than do not take this class. First day he might seem scary but stick around! :)

If your sensitive this class isn't for you, unless you leave it at the front door. But he is funny, he tries hard to make it relate to something that you will remember. He wants you to take the lead in your education, if you're not ready to work for it, it won't happen. But if you are, he is there to help you understand. His a good teacher.

Dr. Hernan is not only my favorite teacher that ive taken, but is also very informative and specific with his instructions. He was always willing to stay late and talk about anything and was, for me, a great person to ask for visual aide such as diagrams of how chemistry plays into biology, what makes our pH acidic or basic,ect. The guy is awesome!

He will make you laugh and learn like you never have before. Leave your technology at home you don't need it and are not allowed to use it! Simple do the work, prepare for class, listen to what he says, and if so you will learn biology like you never have before. Best biology professor EVER!!! Great professor; you get a university level education in a much more intimate setting and at a fraction of the cost. Lots of material to cover but he does a great job at explaining it and providing analogies that actually help further one's understanding. Has a really entertaining sense of humor as well, will have you laughing every day.

He's a great teacher who has passion for what he teaches and keeps you engaged. He is a tough grader and his exams are difficult. I suggest not just memorizing the material but understand it and be able to apply it. Study his guides. Also, if you can't take a joke then drop out of his class, this class is not for the overly sensitive.

The class is difficult, but this is BIO 181, it's meant to teach you more in depth. Take a lot of notes in class and study his guides. He's trying to get you to apply biology to different situations this class is NOT about memorization his exams make you apply what you learned. He does want certain definition's his way or you get them wrong.

He's one of a kind. Very animated in his lectures/ funny. Takes a couples weeks for him to start growing on you. He simplifies the material so that you actually learn it, and retain the information. Its not an easy "A" . You need to study the material. 33 people started, less than 10 passed I believe.

Hernan has by far been one of the best professors I have had in my academic career He makes you work hard, not for him but so that you can achieve your educational goals. It is very hard to find an instructor that not only teaches efficiently and also cares about his students, but he definitely achieves both. This is a professor that truly is great

Aubert won't give you a free A, you'll have to work for it, but if you put in the effort to study it'll be easy. The class is mostly lectures but he's funny and keeps you interested. Don't get a textbook, you wont use it and you're better off studying lecture notes and the PowerPoints he posts. He's a great teacher, one of the best I've had.

He is a strict, but at the same time very funny, and gets you involved in lecture. No book is really needed for his class, because his lectures are pretty much word for word like the book. He does make you study to earn your grades. You may not like this at first, but in the end he does it for a reason-his way prepares you for your next classes.

This is one of the BEST Biology teachers at the school. He does a wonderful job explaining the material, and makes biology very enjoyable and easy to understand. He makes sure you know the material inside and out to prepare you for future classes. I really enjoyed the class and would recommend this professor!

The best college science teacher I've had. His lectures are informative and entertaining. He is incredibly intelligent and makes students feel engaged. Lectures are connected with real life scenarios and are very specific. He will not move on from a topic unless it is clear to most. Easy to talk to and super interesting.

The professor IS the textbook so if you miss class you won't pass!! He makes the class lectures fun where everyone can join in and participates. It is a lot of material but he is very clear and specific with what he wants. Very helpful and cares about all of his students.

If you show up and listen you shouldn't have any issues. No book, just lectures and daily quizzes. He will call you out if you do something especially dumb, but then he'll explain everything so you have the chance to correct it. Highly recommend

Hernan is pretty sarcastic and has a minimal filter but there's solid logic behind his arguments. He likes the topics he teaches(he gets really caught up in them). He's pretty chill in his lessons, as long as you're all learning. No official textbook, we mostly read off of a study pdf. Not recommended if you're offended easily.

This was my favorite teacher and class for my entire semester. At first, it's hard to get the hang of things because he wants things a certain way and if its not perfect there is a penalty. There are quizes everyday at the start of class so if you are late you will lose six points easy. He is caring and very funny and would take over and over again

Expect a quiz for every class. He really cares for his students to understand the material and do more than just memorize it. If you miss a quiz you cant make it up unless you take the final. Make sure to study and rewrite your notes to get a better grade. Grades are based off of labs and quizes. Very sarcastic so dont take things personally.

You have to study but if you study and try in this class you will have a great time. It is very rare you run into a professor who inspires you and makes you want to go to class. That is Hernan, I enjoyed class and I stop by whenever I have time to just sit in his class. I learned more in that class than I have a majority of my college career.

Mr. Hernan is a teacher that was born to teach, he loves to see his students grow and he makes sure they do. This is not the easiest class because he doesn't give handouts and that's a good thing. If you take this class be prepared, be ready to challenge yourself and you will see growth, GUARANTEED. Be engaged, study and you will pass.

Hernan doesn't believe in learning from a book. So what he talks about in class is what you will see on the quiz. So you defiantly have to show up and take notes. You have a quiz each week with an optional final for extra credit. The only homework was labs and studying for the quizzes. Hernan is also great at lecturing and likes to make jokes.

Hernan is a tough, strict instructor with a rough around the edges personality. He is passionate about his subject, takes his job seriously in teaching his students. I joined the class to fill in an AGEC requirement and I left Hernans class with a degree change to Biology. I will take his class again and any other bio classes he were to teach.
