Day is extremely laid back and funny too. Makes math much more bearable and is very helpful. Best teacher I have had in Eau Claire.

Professor Day is new to the university and they definitely hired a good one! He has a good sense of humor and it makes class a lot more fun. Easily one of the best professors at the school. Would definitely recommend taking a class with him.

Professor Day is a great Prof, b/c he makes class intertaining and says stuff like"Squiggle in the middle"when dealing with distribution. he is very helpful with questions you may have inside and outside of class. His exams you are allowed a 3X5 note card to put anything you want on it, which is nice. " . He is by far the best math prof I have had.

Great teacher. He knows his stuff and is willing to help anyone. Statistics is not an easy course, however he is good a teaching the material that will be on the test. He is fair and gives a lot of second chances, especially when the entire class does bad on a test. I suggest him.

I LOVE Herschel! I am not good at anything to do with numbers or math but he was such a great help! There's no way I could have passed this class without him. I went to his office hours almost every week and he was so helpful everytime; he never got annoyed with my incompetence. I suggest not taking 246 if you can't get Herschel!!!

Professor Day is a great guy and his class is always entertaining. I hate math. The class is definitely not easy but he'll be there to help when you need him. Count on several tests, weekly group quizzes, daily iClicker questions, and collected homework before each exam.

I dreaded taking Stats this year,but Prof. Day made it into my favorite class.He has a fantastic sense of humor,and is always open to questions.If you need extra help,he'll always make time for you.It's a hard class,and I still don't like the material,but there's no one better to take it with.

I'm not into math at all and was dreading this class, but professor Day made it into one of my favorite classes. He always made class fun with his humor and real-life examples. He is extremely approachable if you have any questions and is super fast in replying to emails! You can tell he loves what he does and sincerely wants to help you do well.

Every day I look forward to going to Dr. Day's class. I always leave in a good mood unless the material was straining, its only happend twice. Exams are a little difficult but I'm not the greatest at math. You can easily pass this class if you show effort, do the homework, come on the group quiz days, and do so, so on the exams.

He is a great professor and really enjoys teaching the subject. He takes the time to make sure everyone understands whats going on. He also looks and sounds like Eric on "that 70's show". If you are not sure who to take pick him and you shouldnt have any problems.

This guy was really cool and would bust out his guitar and sing in front of us to help remind us on the information. Although he is fun, the class itself is pretty hard. Study the homework problems but definitely look over the quizzes from each week because they mimic the questions on the exam. Cool guy but pretty hard class.

Best professor at UWEC. He truly cares about you and is there to help you do the best you can--he stress that many times to remind you. Super passionate and super funny. Makes math very interesting and fun. You want to learn, so you do. The method in which he teaches is just great. He should in fact teach other professors how to teach like him.

Math 450 and 460 with Prof. Day were easily the most difficult classes I've ever taken. He is a great professor, but his exams (especially the take-homes) can be fiendishly difficult. When you are learning the material, learn the most general cases. I have a feeling that MLC will be easy to study for after taking these courses, though.

Stats is probably the most difficult class I have ever had, but Prof. Day went above and beyond to help me. I worked HARD, and had a lot of help, but I NEVER would have passed without his help. The online component/assignments also really helped. If you have to take Stats, take Prof. Days class.

Professor Day is honestly the reason I passed the class. I hate math and never got higher than a B in any math class, but he was so easygoing and explained everything so thoroughly and made it all so easy to understand. He loves to singplay his guitar, talk about his children, and make horribly funny jokes to the class. Highly, HIGHLY recommend!

Herschel is a great math professor. He takes his time on the material to ensure understanding. It is a really hard class because of the material, but Day finds a way to make it less scarey. Homework is always reasonable and all group work. I would reccommend as a professor.

Herschel Day is the best professor I've had. It's amazing how he is able to challenge you as intensely as he does while still making you look forward to going to class everyday. His exams are very difficult but he always includes rewrites to improve your grade. Actuarial majors, don't be afraid, you'll make it through just fine.

Although stats is a hard class, I have never looked forward to going to a class so much before. Hershel is not only an absolute great professor, but he is a genuine and hilarious guy. He wants you to do well, and if you put the work in you will. If I can say anything it is GET HERSHEL if math isn't your thing, or you need a laugh. It's worth it.

I was someone who was always good at math (like, I took calc in high school) but when I came to UWEC I had a hard time adjusting and flopped hard. Herschel has helped restore my faith in math profs/my own math skills. He lectures, sure, but he tosses in jokes and sarcasm constantly, and that helps break up the Stats material. It's clear he cares.

I cannot begin to explain how much I love this professor. So funny, so relatable, makes the material easy to grasp. Always throws in funny sarcasm and jokes to break the material up. Homework is helpful and you basically can't do poorly on it. Love love love Herschel.

Definitely best stats prof. He understands most students take it out of necessity but he honestly makes a great effort to make it as "minimally painful as possible" (his words, speaks truth.) You MUST put in effort and work to understand the material, as you would for any statistics course, but he's both entertaining and very willing to help us!

If you put the work in, and attend class you will get a good grade. The class is 2 hours, twice a week; it sounds horrible but Herschel changed it up class with stories and breaks and attempts to make it as painless as possible. He delivers the material is a clear and straightforward manner and really is a great professor!

Fun but clear lectures. Keeps students engaged. Very knowledgeable, great at answering and explaining concepts. I was amazed by how he didn't make anyone feel stupid or embarrassed when he was answering questions. One of the best professors I've had.

Class was ENJOYABLE and I never wanted to miss. Legit he could be successful as a stand-up comic or performer. Plays the guitar and is a total babe, as well... TAKE HIM!

Super chill intro class for the actuarial science program. Hes super funny and gets off topic a lot, but it doesnt impact your ability to do homework at all. His office hours are super reasonable and hes willing to work with you to help you understand material and the program itself.

Prof. Day is awesome. I hate math but was forced to take stats and was surprised at how easy he makes it. He comes to class no matter what with such a big personality and his lectures are long but time flies with him. I wish I could have him as a teacher for all my classes and I wouldn't dread school.

Professor Day was such a joy to have as a professor. I had him for elementary stats and I actually understood it thanks to him! His examples are real world applicable and his lectures are entertaining. One thing to be conscious of is buying his notes packet. I didn't at first and then regretted it once I had gotten further into the class! :)

Homework is short, but helps you practice skills effectively. Tests have an online and in person portion and notecards are allowed. Herschel is always super approachable and helpful.

Herschel is funny asf dude. He actually cares about you and that you understand the work. His tests are half online and half in person. The in online you get two chances on it and in person is just front and back. HW is kind of a big deal but you get three chances and he helps you after class with it.

I can't stress enough how much it meant to me, a person who has a learning disability and has always struggled in math, to have a professor who was so accommodating. Great guy, great class.

246 (Elem. Stats and Prob) is kind of difficult, but Prof. Day is super helpful and accommodating. Don't forget to do the daily homework, and he does tell you of when each quiz and exam is. It's best if you go to class, but he does post the materials (but being in class and participating is graded)

Hershel is an amazing, well-respected teacher, and the Math 150 class that he teaches alongside with Kris Presler is really insightful if you're debating whether or not Actuarial Science is good for you. The comments he leaves on the few assignments we do have are always very thought out and detailed, so I urge you to read them. Loved it!
