Good, clear lecturer. Very helpful and eager to teach material
He is a great math teacher. He knows everything. He is helpful. If you do the home works and study his note you will get "A" in his class for sure.
His lectures are sometimes hard to understand. He gives you the definitions of everything which you can get straight out of the book. He writes EVERYTHING on the board. The class was easy as long as you followed the work. I was one of the people that always got the highest grades on the tests so he liked me.
He is really awesome! Sometimes his lectures can be a bit confusing, but just keep asking questions, and he's also REALLY helpful one on one. He is very understanding as well. I got an A+ in his class. Just make sure to do your work, homework, and study. You'll be fine :).
Smart. Knows his stuff, but his accent makes it SUPER difficult to understand him sometimes...thus makin' it difficult to just pay attention in class.
He is a good teacher. He loves math. as long as you do the homewrok you'll be fine. You can ask as many as questions as you want he will answer all of them.
This guy has an accent that requires attention. But, he is very enthusiastic, always willing to help for as long as you need. ALSO this guy really sparked my ineterest in math and I have a much greater interest in it now, because of it.
Very, very helpful and nice teacher. You can ask him anything about work, he will answer until you get it. Nice guy, you can tell he cares about the student and wants each one to succeed.
He is the best math teacher. He is really there to help the students. Calculus is not the easiest subject but he always gives you review sheets before any test or quiz that are quite similar to the actual test or quiz. If you do your homework and actually come to class, you should do well. He has never taken attendance.
Palomar class he taught Fall 05. Once you get his accent, he is a terrific teacher. Very helpful and allowed me to make up test when he didn't have to. Almost made me like Algebra.
He is perhaps the most intelligent mathematician alive.
I took Math 132 with him over the summer.... after having to withdrawl from Neelon. Zahedani makes you feel like he actually cares about your success. I didnt think I could ever understand Calculus but he taught me and I now understand it. Zahedani is top notch... HIGHLY reccomended especially if it is your second or so time trying to take Calc.
i was so scared to take calc because i thought it was gonna be hard, but this professor makes it so easy! he goes over tons of example, gives you study guides, drops ur lowest quiz and test score. he was great. has an accent, but u get used to it.
He was probably the only teacher I could have taken that could get me to pass algebra. Very helpful when asked, and never unpleasant. Tries to explain things in the easiest way possible, and tries not to bog you down with things you won't really need in the future. Homework every day but only turned in on the day of the quiz. Offers a cheat-sheet f
This professor is HIGHLY recomended. He will make things clear, and go over all of the examples that you will need for the exams. Go to every class and do your homework and you will do fine in the class.
he is one of the BEST math teachers i've ever had. he really knows how to explain the material in ways that is easy to comprehend
Zahedani is an amazing teacher period. He Truly is the greatest math teacher ive ever had.
Professor Zahedani is a great professor. He goes over everything and when it comes to test taking you won`t have a problem because he already went over what will be on the test just the day before. He`s also very understanding. Highly recommended.
BEST MATH TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD!!!!! The examples he provides makes everything make sense. The cheat sheet can have whatever on it, he doesnt check. Sometimes i used 2 or 3, he doesnt look. Practice tests are identical to the Tests, just different numbers in the problems I wish he taught other classes so I could take him again for the math i need
The class is not hard at all if you go to class and pay attention. Attendance isn't mandatory and he gives studyguides before every test and quiz. He is a great teacher and is so helpful. If you go to his office hours frequently, you are guaranteed to pass.
Heydar is a really good teacher. extremly clear on each step of every problem! has an accent but it doesnt hinder understanding lecture. do homework...helps with quizes! TAKE HIS CLASS! it is worth it!
I have mixed feelings about this class. On a personal level I thought Professor Zahedani was great because he allowed me a seat in his class at the last minute. I am not a math person and am very fortunate to have escaped with a B in his class, because i could have done much, much worse. Lectures can be difficult with his accent. No complaints here
awesome teacher. hard to understand at first but you get used to it. you get to use a page of notes for tests and final. teaches in a clear and understandable way. as long as you take notes in this class you will do fine. not hard class at all.
BEST MATH TEACHER EVER!!! I retook this class, had a diff. teacher before and got an A the second time around. It's hard to understand him sometimes but his notes are really helpful! He repeats things constantly. The quizzes are helpful. Also review days since he goes over every type of problem that it is going to be in the quiz/test.
Calculus is hard to understand in the first place, add that and this guys language barrier and you'll be just as confused as I am
Prof. Zahedany is the best Math teacher at CSUSM. A little bit of accent but he is very repetitive and that is very helpful. His teaching style is very compassionate and students success is his goal. Take him, he will help you.
He is a really good teacher. My counselor put me in the class and i thought i would fail but he made the material easy to understand. Also, he is very lenient, and the tests were exactly like the study guides(not exactly but close) but ya it was a pretty easy class tho. If you have a choice choose this teacher.
i really hate math and was required to take at least one year of calculus and i got an a in his class. his notes look like the practice tests and quizzes and those look like the actual tests and quizzes. he is very good at explaining and most importantly teaching. he understands that math is difficult for some and does his best to work with you.
He is good, he gives you a total understanding of what you're learning.
Professor Zahedani is wonderful! He helps you to understand the sometimes difficult subject of Calculus. I appreciate the time he spends on helping his students! We get a lot of homework in his class but he has endless extra credit opportunities and truly wants every student to succeed. I highly recommend taking any class this professor teaches!
I suggest going to class. I did not go to class except on test days and I am probably going to get a C+ in the class. His class is super easy, he doesn't take a attendance, just do the homework & take home quizzes. He lets you drop one quiz grade and one exam grade! =] he's a good teacher!
*HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. An excellent math teacher who explains the concepts very clearly and shows over and over exactly how to solve the problems on the tests and quizzes. He's enthusiastic about math and eager to help anybody that wants to do well in the class.(His accent is thick, and that might be a problem for some people, but it wasn't for me).
Very knowledgeable teacher. If you pay attention and go to each class, you should do well. I walked away from this class with a far greater understanding of math.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!! He is the BEST Math teacher Ive ever had at CSUSM :) Extremely helpful, explains material VERY well. Helps student to understand the material. Gives take home quizes as extra credit. Let us use a page of notes on tests and quizes. TAKE MATH WITH PROFESSOR ZAHEDANI!THE BEST!!! :D
Brilliant & talented.HE'S THE BEST!Truly loves math & likes helping, very approachable.A very nice person, uncommonly kind & dedicated,he is just so very nice & polite.i will remember his class in high regards-his help truly meant a lot 2 me.AVOID OTHER PROFS & take whatever he teaches.just look @ all of his good reviews!"This is it,this is the 1!"
Amazing professor! He makes it almost impossible to fail his class with all of the extra credit. His accent is a little difficult but he provides so many examples to what he is doing that you will learn it anyway. Very lenient if you are a good student. Would never take any other teacher for Business Calc.
He is the best math professor at CSUSM!!! Take him!!! He puts extra credit questions on the test and he puts up practice quizzes and practice tests on WebCT if you do these and understand these you are guaranteed to get an A on the quizzes and tests!!! Seriously a great professor!! :]
By far the best math teacher i have ever had. his class is easy, he tests and quizzes are easy. he gives you all the information you need to pass, plenty of extra credit. he moves a little fast paced when writing, but if you pay attention and use the tools he gives you, you will have no problem passing
The BEST math professor! Lectures are crystal clear, gives a ton of extra credit on everything! Homework is kinda useless. Gives so many different types of examples. Tests are super easy! Very smart and helpful! I wouldn't take anyone else except him! Highly intelligent and consistent. He simplifies difficult topics, so everyone can understand.
he is great, he has a sense of humor. he lets you make up points you miss on a quiz. copy all of his notes, they make understanding practice exams easy. Stay on top of the material. i got the highest grade in his class!!! he is Amazing!
If you know nothing about math and have to take calc, TAKE HIM. show up to class, take notes & you'll do great on tests. I've had to drop calc classes in the past but he makes it easy and totally understandable. TAKE HIM!!
Wonderful, Great, fantastic, and amazing instructor... Very helpful. He walks you step by step through this hard class and makes you feel that this class is so easy... I adore, respect, and appreciate this instructor's efforts for helping each student. Highly highly recommended. Take him you won't loss.
Zahedani is my favorite professor! SO helpful, and he really does help you understand the material. 4 quizzes and 3 tests + the final. He drops your lowest quiz/test scores. Multiple opportunities for extra credit
The Best Math Teacher to ever walk the planet. Prior to taking calc I with Zahedani, I didn't think I could learn such a topic. Now I have him for calc III. He helped me learn to love math. Amazing! If you have a chance to take him do it, even if it's just for an elective.
Professor Zahedani intimidated me a little at first. When I would approach him after class to ask a question he would come up very close and seem to loom over me. I soon realized however, that he he just couldn't hear me well. He's really quite friendly and will even let you ask questions during exams.
Calculus I, best math teacher I've ever had in my life. Also an extremely nice person and I wish I could have him for Calc II but he doesn't teach it!
Professor Zahedani is by far the best math professor. I previously took the class with Puha and got a C- (not passing for my major) & retook it with Zahedani and got an A. He explains things clearly & gives lots of examples step by step so you're not lost. VERY helpful and caring.
He is such an sweomse teacher! I really understood what was happening in the class. I had taken calculus for social sciences before this class and he taught the material so much better than my previous teacher! Don't miss out on having him for a professor!!
Z is an awesome teacher. Calc is a difficult subject as is but his examples are very clear and easy to understand. His tests/quizzes are exactly what is on the practice tests/quizzes given, so you are not blind-sighted. He grades and returns tests pretty quickly. He is always willing to answer to questions and help students.
Hard to understand at times but offers many opportunities for extra credit. Extra credit on all tests and quizzes and every take home quiz. Easy material if you pay attention and he makes sure you know what you are doing. Collects homework on quiz days. Recommend this class if you want that cushion with extra credit.
calculus is a tough course, but he explains it really well. You have to show up to class everyday to understand all the materials. If you do miss a day, you'll be lost. His quizzes and tests are straightforward from his lectures. Make sure you do and understand his take home quizzes/tests/practice tests. GREAT PROFESSOR!
Professor Zahedani is an Amazing professor, he gives tests/quizzes reviews which is almost exactly like the actual test... so far I have not gotten lowed than a 100% on any of the tests and quizzes.. GREAT professor I defiantly recommend him!!!
Explains step-by-step solutions for each problem type. Gives practice test to study and has extra points available on every test. Drops lowest quiz and test score so if you do well you don't even have to take the last 2. Last month of class is the hardest, but if you study you should be fine.
Zahedani is a great math professor. Explains things really well and is an extremely fair grader. Lowest quiz and test score are dropped and doesn't assign an overwhelming amount of homework. Fair grader and his practice tests/quizzes mirror the real ones. My only gripes are not answering HW questions in class and him not responding to emails.
Good prof. Some accent. Fair grading HW and tests. Biggest gripe: he didnt want to deal with students individually. When I asked him for leniency after I had been in the hospital for a concussion was, “talk to me after the final.” Obviously students never see professors after finals. First C of my life. Best math prof at CSUSM. THIS SCHOOL SUCKS!
Took Discrete Math with this prof. I thought this math class was going to be insanely hard and abstract, but he made it super easy to follow and understand! Zahedani will show you the ropes. Aced the quizzes and tests, walked out on the final day happy and fulfilled.
Couldn't understand a word this guy said so it's really easy to get lost. DO NOT TAKE HIM IF YOU HAVE ANY TROUBLE WITH MATH! Do the homework and do your best to not fall behind. Tests and final were difficult
Great professor, but some may have difficulty comprehending his accent. He goes over problems and examples in great detail so it's easy to understand concepts. You still need to study. I wish I had taken more classes with him. He is passionate about teaching and learning. Every university ought to have a professor like him teaching at their campus.
He has a strong accent that you'll have to get over. But Z is a funny guy, he's very good at explaining concepts, and gives you a lot of opportunities to make up for mistakes. He doesn't do attendance, but you're doing yourself a disservice if you don't go to his lectures. Discrete's easy, just pay attention and do the homework.
Great teacher has an accent but you get over it quick if you listen. Really helpful. Does not mind questions and does a great job at answering them.
I was concerned going into this class in the beginning because I struggled with Calc I. Ended up being the easiest class I've taken in a while. Study the practice tests (he gives you the solutions), and that's what will exactly be on the exam. Prof Z is without a doubt one of the best math professors I've had! TAKE HIM
I liked professor Z. because he explained every step in detail. He posts practice tests online and goes over them before quiz or test days. You are well prepared for the tests and can use a formula sheet. He is a very good teacher. Easy A.
Professor Zahedani teaches discrete math using methods that nobody else uses. Good luck looking for help online or even in the required textbook. He is super picky and will give you 0 credit if you stray from his methods which are unique to him. Requires a lot of homework for a paltry percentage of your grade. I Do not recommend taking 270 with him
Accent takes about 2 classes to get use to but Zahedani is a great professor. He starts and finishes every example on the board, which are almost exactly whats on the tests and quizes. He also gives practice tests and quizes which are identical to the tests. Do those, and you'll do well.
Prof. Z is a brilliant professor. I've had him for Calc 2, Discrete and Linear. Study his practice quizzes and exams, and I don't understand how you could do poorly. He walks you through each problem carefully. Words cannot describe how grateful I am that Z teaches at CSUSM. He's about the only decent math professor.
Horrible class I would not recommend it. He has a strong accent so if you aren't good with accents don't take this class! He doesn't really know how to explain the material clearly to where you can explain it to others. I f math is not your forte he is not the teacher for you.
Great professor... grades tough but gives tons of opportunities for extra credit..
I really didn't like Zahedani at first, he has a thick accent, wrote at very bottom of the board, hard to read what he wrote and takes shortcuts that he doesn't explain. By the middle of the semester, he was one of my favorite teachers, he is generous with grading and will help with any questions. It takes time to get used to him. Sit in front!
I received a B but I owe it too my personal tutors. Honestly, I would never recommend him. He talks and writes too fast and if you don't get it he continues anyways. if you understand the practice test you should be okay during the exam many students gave up on his class.
He is an amazing teacher! he explains everything step by step and makes math easy. My twin sister and I took his class over the summer and both of us did well. He gives many chances to do your work & helps when you don't understand. He has an awesome teaching method and makes sure everyone is on the same page. You will not regret taking his class!
This is the coolest math teacher you will ever meet. His style, although some don't like his accent (GET OVER IT), is one that should be recognized by the rest of the math department. He helped everyone get a good grade and succeed by his course design. If you get a moment, talk to him and get to know him. He is a great guy. Extra credit on exams.
Professor Z is a great math teacher. He has an accent and writes small but if you sit in the front it's not a problem. He preps you for the tests with practice quizzes and tests that are helpful so make sure you do them. If you do them then you will get an A on the exam. Don't miss class and go to lab and you will get at least a B.
Professor Z is the best math teacher I've had. He explains everything in a lot of detail. The only issue is he has a thick accent and writes really small. As long as you sit in the front, you'll be fine. He is BY FAR the best calculus professor on campus. If you have to take calc 2, take it with him. Do all the assignments and it's an easy A.
Truly the only professor that I admire at Cal State San Marcos. Definitely try to get him for any course that you can. So much passion and skill.
Suppose one took a different Calc II professor besides him... YOU ARE WRONG. All jokes aside, I would recommend taking him. He is cool and helpful.
Spoon-feeds the tests and quizzes. If you don't get at least a B, you're just lazy. If you didn't pass, then re-think being in college. Don't miss classes because he seriously goes through every damn problem and does them all for you. He is a good man, loves math, and is ridiculously smart. Changing my minor from physics to math because of him.
Math isn't my favorite so I was more than worried to take Calc 2 after I failed Calc1 the first time. The whole lecture is him doing examples which is what works best for me! He tells you exactly what type of problems are on the quizzestests, and they're almost identical to the examples in class. I wish I took him for Calc 1!
This was not an easy class and you have to be there every day and take good notes. However! I really liked this professor. He give great lectures and many examples you can use for homework and tests. He gives extra credit and tons of practice quizzes and tests, so if you study, you should be good.
Have to attend EVERY class. I took two semesters with him Math 160 and 162. He is brilliant, but he expects you to put forth the work required to pass his class. He does do extra credit to help supplement the grade, which is a life saver if you are not lazy. He will answer each question in depth and he is available for office hours. Great Professor
If you show up to every class and take notes, you're on the right track. The tests are not easy, but he goes over everything several times so if you don't get the material, get help! He's wonderful at giving study guides and then going over them. He also gives some extra credit.
This is the best Calc professor on campus. He is very clear, helpful, and the homework he assigns is directly from the book and it comes in handy for the exams. He makes sure a question asked is explained in great detail and he seems like he wants everyone to really understand the material. Don't miss lectures, and for sure get the book. Amazing!
Knows his stuff, however, it can get real confusing at times. He writes extremely small on the board so if you have problems seeing, sit up right in front.
Great professor, but the class can be hard if you don't keep up. He gives many resources to prepare you for quizzes and tests, do them. I recommend sitting in the front, his handwriting can be unclear and small at times.
Going to every class and taking really good notes helps a lot. Calc is not easy but he gives a lot of optional worksheets to help you prepare for the tests. He gives partial credit on test questions that you kind of knew, and he drops your lowest test score which helps a lot too. only used textbook for hw.
Professor Zahedani is a great teacher! He's really specific when giving examples, but those examples will be on the exams and quizzes so there won't be any surprises. His lectures can be boring, but you should really attend class so you won't miss anything. Overall he's an excellent calculus teacher and I learned a lot.
One of the greatest teachers on campus! I encourage you to study, go over the notes, and pay attention .
Zahadani mumbles and goes a bit fast, but his notes are super legible. If you don't understand something, then ask him. He will explain it well and he gives practice quizzes and practice tests and the answers a few days later to see how you did.
Best math teacher I've ever had. He explains the problems very well and makes sure you're ready for quizzes and tests. Test and quizzes are formatted exactly like the practice worksheets so don't take those for granted. There are many opportunities for extra credit. Don't miss the lectures because you learn a lot in just one day. Highly recommend
Professor Zahedani is an amazing professor. His lectures will prepare you for the quizzes and tests. If the lectures are not enough, he also hands out practice quizzes/tests that will aid you in understanding the material and doing good in the tests. He also offers extra credit in the form of presenting theorems to the class. Take him for calc1 !!
Solid choice for a math professor, very straightforward, what's on the study guide is on the quiz/test. Nice grader, don't leave problems blank, partial credit will help you survive. Lectures are clear too. Make sure to take notes, it helps a lot for homework/test.
This professor at first glance seems very promising however his "love" for calculus goes to the point where he will not allow us to use known formulas for his tests, his reasoning being that if we can not explain it then we can not use it. This gets annoying as many simple problems are made very tedious. Also, be ready to many notes.
Heavy accent but writes everything on board. A lot of extra credit. Everything he goes over is basically the quizzes and exams no surprises. Takes away lowest quiz and 2 exams. Exams are separated in 2 parts one Mon & other Wed. 1st part is basically the last quiz. A- is really an A and B+ is B. HW sucks. I did 1 of 4 HW and all EC still got an A.
Take Zahedani!! He genuinely cares about his students and wants them to pass. Lectures are a lot of just copying down examples from the board but make sure to go since the same problems are on the tests, he also uses study guides and practice tests similar to the tests. If you're confused I highly recommend going to his office hours it helped me!!
Hands down the best professor I've ever had. Calculus is a tough subject but he makes it so understandable. The only downside is he doesn't teach all the math courses. :-(
He is an amazing professor and I'm so glad that I got him as my Calc teacher. Definitely recommend!!
He was recommended by my sister and many others. One of the best math teachers I have had and he will answer any questions you have and give good feedback. Always go to the second lecture, it may be two hours long but it will save you for tests like it did for me.
Hes my favorite professor in all of Csusm! Hes the sweetest and most understanding professor. He legit hands you the information and the exact same stuff is on the quizzes and exams. Gives LOTS of EC and does curve the class at the end. Take him I highly recccomend.
I always have a hard time with math however Mr. Zahedani, was very good with explaining homework he is very helpful and caring, highly recommend him, will be taking Math 96 with him.
Dr. Z was an amazing calc professor! He gives you examples during class and pretty much uses the exact same problems on the test. As long as you do the practice tests and take home quizzes, this class will be a breeze.
BEST professor at CSUSM. Inspired me to become a math major. He is so knowledgeable and makes math fun and understandable. I would take him for every math class if I could. Gives practice exams, what he teaches you is what you will be tested on. Tests are more than doable if you study off of his practice exams. You will regret not taking him.
Professor Zahedani was an amazing professor. He gives out practice exams and quizzes. It help out a lot when it comes to studying for his quizzes and exams. Ge drops two part exam and one quiz score. He gives out extra credit to help your grade out. I would recommend taking him for Math 160 if you get the chance. Excited to have him again for fall.
I maintained an A the whole semester but I got sloppy towards the end. This professor is so amazing though and that I will not lie about. The study guides were exactly like the exams. He drops two exams and a quiz. The homework was doable. He grades really fast so youll have the results. Go to office hours, hes always there for his students.
best prof I have ever had. he is straight up and knows if you come to class or not. he also gives you a lot of extra credit opportunities. show up to class because everything is gone over. it's up to you if you study it or not. I should've studied more and I would've received an A
lectures were very easy to understand and he is very good at explaining everything. He gives out a study guide and they are extremely helpful. make sure to attend class so you won't miss anything.
Best Professor EVER, I have never had such an amazing mathematics professor, he teaches you exactly what will be on the test in class, and teaches very clearly. Actually made me understand the concepts. Wish I could take him for every math course.
I took this prof. twice. The first time I was a lazy student and did not pass. The second time was much more enjoyable. Showing up to class, paying attention to the lecture, and doing the homework is a must for success but he teaches the material very clearly and the practice tests are truly reflective of the content of the real tests.
I LOVE HIM. <33333333333. best math professor I have ever taken! many opportunities for extra credit, exams are just like quizzes and gives many examples to practice. Always willing to help out students and make everything super clear. Would definitely take him again(:
Zahedani is AMAZING. Totally recommend! Great lectures and super cool professor. He makes this course super easy to understand!
He made Calculus quite easy honestly because his lectures and practice problems were similar to the quizzes and tests. It is essential to go to class and take notes because what he teaches is what is tested on. I think other students can agree that he should teach other classes apart from math too.
If it werent for the ridiculous amount of online homework I would have been way more enthusiastic about this class. Prof Z is really nice and funny and he really tries to give opportunities for students to succeed. try not to skip class a lot and do the practice quizzes and you will do just fine.
Professor Zahedani is a fantastic professor who really cares about your success and will do anything in his power to help you succeed. The only requirement of his class is that you do the worksheets and practice exams provided. As long as you do this, you will definitely get an A in his class. Go out of your way to get into his class it's worth it!
Gives many opportunity to earn extra credit. Very heavy and detailed during lecture, so do not skip class. Has a heavy accent but the notes and everything will be worth it. There is 7 or 8 take- home quizzes that he gives/ email out over the weekend, usually due the day of quizzes or exam. Very easy going and will answer any questions needed.
easy A! makes math easy to understand. tests and quizzes consist of very similar examples that he teaches in class. tests are broken up into two parts. each part only has 5 questions. really nice professor. accent is strong in the beginning but you get used to it. has his funny moments
By far my favorite professor! He's very sweet and cares for his students. He really makes you understand the material if you actually pay attention during lectures. Lectures are very straightforward and tells you what he expects on exams and quizzes. Gives practice test and quizzes that are exactly like the exams and quizzes. Take him if you can!!!
One of my favorite professors at CSUSM. Lectures are straightforward and easy, but he does have a strong accent, but you get used to it within a couple weeks into the semester. He gives practice test and quizzes that are exactly the same as test and quiz. Gives out extra credit.
He is very good at lecturing, as he makes sure to go over every possible example. I recommend doing the practice exams, as they help with extra practice and counts as extra credit. Overall solid professor and I believe anyone can get an A if they make sure to try their best!
im not great at math and i couldnt understand his super thick accent and fast talking even with office hours. had to go to mathlab for everything. hes nice though, will give extensions and gives extra credit, drops lowest test grade. he knows the subject but in my opinion cant explain it well. good choice if youre good in math
He is amazing! He teaches so clearly, is so kind, offers so much support, and offers a lot of opportunities for student success. Its not hard to pass, but with that being said, you have to put in the work yourself: Attend class, do the homework, and go to office hours and you can do well. This professor is what made me change my major to math :)
Professor Zahedani is a good professor but at times can be cold and intimidating. Even though his lectures are recorded, I highly recommend you go to every class. Extra credit is given if you participate during activity. Stay on top of your game and put in your work and you will pass the class. You are going to have to study to get a good grade
Professor Z is a good prof! Make sure you don't get behind and have a solid scanning system when it comes to uploading your work online (PDF). The practice problems are super helpful to use for studying for quizzes and tests. There are also a few extra credit opportunities that you should do if you want some cushion. Hard work good grade
Prof Z is one of the best professors I've ever had!! He makes sure to thoroughly explain each concept during the lectures & makes them very easy to understand. Math is my worst subject but Prof Z made me enjoy it for once. All the quiz & exam reviews are almost exactly like the actual thing. 10/10 teacher & cares about his students' success.
Professor Zahedani can be very intimidating and passive-aggressive at times. He is a pretty good professor, however I do not recommend you skip class. Literally the best thing you can do for yourself and to get a good grade is to limit the amount of lectures you miss. I got sloppy at the end due to personal reasons, but if you can stay on top of it
Professor Z is an amazing professor! He always does practices quizzes/tests during lecture, which is the same layout as the quiz/test. Make sure you attend class, do the homework, and do the take home quizzes. Ask questions if you are confused! And know how to scan and upload your quiz/test beforehand.
Professor Zahedani is great! I had math 160 and it was very lecture oriented. If you don't attend the lectures you probably won't pass. Quizzes were easy as he gave us practice quizzes with almost identical problems. Tests were the same way, practice tests and quizzes are a great tool to study. Staying on top of work is impt if you want to pass.
Very good professor. Lecture-oriented for sure but he explains the math in detail and makes it easy to understand. The practice quizzes and practice tests are based on the actual quizzes and tests so if you do those and study you will be fine. Gave a modest amount of homework but it helps. Drops the lowest quiz and exam grade (not the final exam).
He's a very mediocre professor. I didn't mind the class at all. He is sorta hard to understand with his accent and he does go kind of fast, but this class was super easy. He gives you all the due dates in advance so it's easy to keep track, and he doesn't take attendance. Hard to reach him outside of class though, never answered my emails.
Professor focuses on students passing tests and quizzes, not on how the material will be applicable in a classroom setting for teaching this to our future students. Professor takes time to answer your questions about his grading. I didn't find his tests and quizzes to have super clear instructions for each problem. Very notes heavy.
In my experience, I believe Professor Zahedani is an amazing teacher. He is coherent and detailed on what to expect on each quiz and exam. As long as you attend the lecture and complete the study guide, you will pass! There are a total of four quizzes, three-chapter exams, and one test final. He drops your lowest quiz and test grade.
The Business Calc class consists of three tests, a final, homework, and a handful of quizzes. But he gives you extra credit. ec was about 150 extra points, he had me finish the class with a 115% when I was worried if I was even going to get an A. He records his lectures as well (online), so I never went to a class unless tests/quizzes happened.
Coldblooded, intense grader. Imprudent with regards to understudies. Tests, quizzes, and final 90% different from what's been instructed in class.
He offers so much extra credit. Make sure you go to the second lecture since you get more one-on-one help with him and he gives extra points for solving problems. He also drops one test and one quiz. I Recommend him!
I would never recommend this professor to anyone. lectures memorized so he just stands at the whiteboard and writes. goes super fast and doesn't give the class enough time to understand the problems. He has a thick accent which can be difficult for some to understand. He doesn't post the notes or lectures so if you miss something, you're screwed.
Professor Zahedani is a great professor with a great love of mathematics. He explains many applications of what he teaches as well as what to expect in future classes. Offers Extra Credit and is very upfront and honest on what he looks for on tests. Don't forget to complete your online assignments!
Super helpful, calc 1 isnt easy but with him it was doable. Im terrible with math but managed to pass this class with an A. if you want to pass you really have to study and ask for help! do his take home quizzes and def do board problems in 2nd lecture(easy extra credit points). his practice tests/quizzes are similar to the real ones.
As a rising senior in HS, I was apprehensive about taking Discrete Mathematics (MATH 245) for a letter grade via concurrent enrollment this summer because of the difficulty. However, Professor Zahedani focuses on the essential concepts during lectures and helps reinforce them via weekly homework and take-home quizzes. Great class!
Professor Zahedani is by far my favorite math professor. While your grade will be mostly consist of quizzes, tests, and the final, he gives you enough material to be prepared for each one. No instance in which there was something on any tests or quizzes that we did not go over in class. Plenty of EC opportunities, just follow up w/him ASAP on it.
Mr. Z has a rather monotone voice and writes in small font, even I noticed this as I usually sat in front on the room. I don't how how I passed this course barely by a B due to his voice and small writing, but I'm just happy I did. I don't recommend him if you suffer insomnia nor have vision problems. His voice can put you to sleep.
Tried to cover a lot in one lecture so went at a very fast rate and did not give people much time to process information given.
In my opinion, Professor Z was a good teacher. He gives you lots of practice quizzes and is willing to answer questions during/after class. However, he gives lots of WebAssign homework and can be picky on how he wants the quiz/test questions done.
Calculus 2 w/Prof Zahedani starts off a bit fast & is a bit intimidating as there is a lot of material to go over. Attendance isnt mandatory, but if you miss a class it may be difficult to understand what material you missed. All practice quizzes & tests are practically identical to the real thing. Very easy to reach out to if you need extra help.
Ruthless grader. Thick accent. Expects students to already have a good grasp on calculus. High preforming students, expect this class to drop your GPA significantly. WebAssign has little correlation with what is on the tests. Extremely picky on minor details in tests. Average class grade on tests was around 65%. No curves. Heavy studying REQUIRED.
Expect to have a full-time job asking questions in the STEM Center (30-40) hours a week, otherwise, you'll fail. The professor treats this class like it is the only class we have. If you don't do calculus the way he writes it on the board, you will lose most if not all of your points on questions during the test. HEAVY GRADER! RUN DO NOT TAKE!
If you have any time constraints in your real life, expect to drop them immediately to devote your life for the whole semester to this class. DO NOT BE FOOLED BY THE GOOD REVIEWS LIKE I DID. I eventually had to drop the class due to being overly stressed.
Amazing professor I received over 100% in his class and would definitely take it again. I love his teaching style it's all examples of problems that will be on exams, he will literally go over a problem and put it on the exam it is up to you to study and know how to do it!
Mr Z is terrible at creating analogies and overall a terrible explainer. I understand that it is quite difficult to teach at a level that all students from diverse backgrounds can understand, but Mr Z expects you to fully understand calculus from the day you walk in. This class has a heavy focus on sharpening your already good calculus skills.
Has a pretty heavy accent. Took him over the summer so course was fast, but he was always willing to help outside class. The guy cracked me up. LOVED watching him work out the solutions to the problems and then finish with phrases like "And that's gonna be the one!" "There it is, all the time!" Content is what you'd expect for Calc. Its not easy
I am shocked why this professor has such high reviews. There are many professors that have ratings completely undeserved that are genuinely great teachers. This professor on the other hand will mumble his memorized notes with no explanation of most problems other than concepts that are easy to explain.
If you are taking college algebra, I highly suggest avoiding taking this class. Mr Z. uses confusing analogies. He refers to f(x) as the machine which makes no sense. Instead of presenting information at face value, concepts will be told in a theory format, that counteracts useful information by overwhelming students with irrelevant information.
great teacher. sometimes hard to understand him but will always do his best to make sure his students understand. Would take again
I absolutely loved Professor Zahedani, he explained the material so well. He does not slack, he grades tests and quizzes quickly. I found his notes very helpful, so I did not care that they were long. His quizzes and tests matched the practice ones he gave us. If you study, do the work, and ask questions you will pass. I passed the class with a 97%
This class is the most painful I've ever taken. Slow teaching style, slow to update canvas, slow person in general. Do not take.
Professor Zahedani is by far the best Math professor I have ever had. His lectures are very easy to comprehend, attendance is not required yet is necessary, missing a class does get you behind. Buying the textbook is necessary as there are online assignments that are due almost every week. He is always kind and treats his students with respect.
He is an awesome professor. Math is not my strong suit but never did I feel stressed about the content. The way this class is formatted really allows you to succeed. He is really nice and always asking if anyone has any questions. Feedback is always welcome with him.
Professor Zahedani's MATH162 class is challenging but worth it. Lectures can move quickly, so staying engaged and using resources like the textbook and unstuck study are key. With hard work, you can succeed in this class and learn a lot.
Z is seriously one of the best math professors. He teaches Calc 2 in a very detailed and comprehensive manner and is always open to any questions. Not only that but he is a very respectful and kind person. He provides helpful study guides and recorded lectures in case you miss class and also grades exams and quizzes really fast! Would recommend!
I had him for Calc 1 and the first day i was nervous because he has a pretty strong accent. However, after the first few classes you get used to it and he's honestly an amazing professor. He's always willing to help and he gives so much extra credit. Make sure you show up to lectures because missing one can make you easily fall behind!
Professor Zahedani is an awesome professor. His lectures are straightforward and he has videos of them posted in case you can't make it to his class. He assigns quizzes and tests every month, and he gives us study guides to prepare for quizzes and tests, making them easy to pass. If you're planning to take Discrete Math, please take him!
This class was such a nightmare, I have no idea how this guy's reviews are so high. Looks like it all came from one class. But everyone I know cannot state enough how much this class has sucked. He seemed to like being able to yell at the class every week.
Seems a bright & very knowledgeable math person. Delivery and lectures is not well received by students. Disrespectful, condescending, and rude to students. Needs to work more on teaching students instead of insulting them. Very disappointed and recommend to avoid, unless you want to be insulted instead of educated.
Passionate about the field and he actually wants you to understand the concepts and do well. He's friendly and relaxed and very knowledgeable.
He goes way too fast and is not easy to ask questions to
Professor Zahedani is an amazing professor.
The pace of his in-class lectures are way too fast, never gave sufficient amount of time to process even a single problem before proceeding. His homework / quizzes / tests take up almost the entire day they are assigned. For his lectures, he just rewrites the notes from the hour-long recordings he posted.
He was not only an outstanding professor but also a truly kind and compassionate person.
RIP to this legend. I took his class 8 years ago, was sad to hear of his recent passing. Amazing professor and teacher.
