Mr. Bui was a great teacher as long as u come to class on time (within 15mins after that, i think thats his pet peeve and gives u look!) But his teachings are great, if u don't understand he will take time to go back over a subject.

Indeed, he expects that you know how to do some things already and goes pretty fast during lectures. The idea is: you should know it. You should pay close attention at all times and ask questions if you don't understand. Other than that, his tests are fairly easy. He gives a lot of book homework, and some online homework. Good for practice.

Great sense of humor, will explain anything if asked. Takes time to make sure you are clear on the process of the problem. Tests are farely easy, lets you know exactly what is on them. Book homework and online, but not to much that you do not have time for other things. I would recommend him to anyone.

I never understood math and I hated math until I took his class. He makes sure that you understand. It helps if you go to every class and show up on time (it's like that w/ everyone). I would definately recommend!!

Mr.Bui was such a great prof! He is one of the best profs that you will come across at HCC and he truly cares about his students. Only downside is all of the homework and he tends to go a little fast in his lectures but all you have to do is ask him for help. He has a great sense of humor as well!

Aw man, why doesn't he teach higher math classes? He was a great and fun teacher who, you could tell, really enjoyed math (he said so his self, "math turns me on" "we Asians love the strange things" haha) If you suck at math, make sure you choose him as your math teacher. Mr. Bui is an excellent teacher. He is willing to go the extra mile to help understand the class. He doesn't make you feel uncomfortable about not understanding something. He is funny and he makes this class enjoyable. I would recommend him for this class and any other class that you can take him for.

Well, I got a C in the class, but that has a lot to do with me not completing the homework. Listen to the guy as best you can and you should be able to do well. I found him to be quite attractive, so that kept me interested as well.

Mr. Bui is, by far, the best mathematics teacher I have ever encountered. He is so excited about math and eager to teach thoroughly until you understand. This is one of the best teachers i've every had. He is very understanding and will work with you on a one to one basis. You don't even need a book. I would recommend this teacher to anyone who doesn't do well in math cause he will make you understand and goes to the end to help you pass his class.

Very good instructor.Do not be tardy or he deducts points from test. if you go everyday you should not have a problem in the class understanding, he teaches at a level that makes you learn it and is always willing to go over it again and again. i Highly Recommend him!

Bui is an AMAZING teacher, I took him for MAT0024 and MAT1033 and I wish I could take him for MAC1105. He has a unique way of explaining math concepts, so if your one of those non-math people (like me) who really struggles in math, TAKE HIM! He is an exceptional teacher. Really cares about his students. He makes sure everyone is crystal clear before he moves on to the next topic. He just writes on the board for notes and examples, but he gives tons of examples and is very thorough when explaining things. I wish he taught college algebra! I will miss him!

All of the previous positive posts were absolutely right: BUI IS AMAZING! He makes math interesting so it's always worth it to show up for his class lectures. He teaches lots of information, but is very clear when explaining things, and doesn't move on if anybody is lost. He also posted practice tests online for us that made our tests very easy.

This guy will make you forget you are learning math. He is by far that best teacher I have ever had for math. Bui will elaborate numbers in a way that anyone can understand. His classes are so entertaining that you will not want to miss one. Besides Bui does not use books and with all the optional practice test he gives, you can't fail his class.

Honestly he is a good teacher but i don't agree with a lot of things he does. 1- he does not give extra credit at all. his kinda full of him self from teaching. 3- test r super hard and he will take off all points from a lil mistakes. 4-takes off every 2points from your test if you missed lower your test. so if you take him be ready for all this.

I've had Mr. Bui now for two semesters (MAT-0028/MAT-1033). He is by far the best math teacher I've ever had. He is helpful, kind, and entertaining; you can tell he cares about his students. Some people have issues about the tests but honestly -- he gives you every chance to succeed. Just study (the concept) and you'll be fine.

Mr. Bui is probably the best (if not the best) math professor at HCC. The man is genuinely kind and wants his students to succeed. He also is very entertaining as a professor and attempts to make the connection with his students. You'd be missing out if you didn't take his class. It's a shame he doesn't teach MAC-1105.

This teacher was extremely helpful. He may go fast but he will slow down if you ask him too. Attendance it mandatory, there is online homework,and if you know you will not be attending class, notify him before. If you need help at all he will help you. He is very down to earth, humors and entertaining. He will help you to learn.

Hien Bui is an excellent professor. he funny, and very helpful, even if you simply forgot how to do a relatively simple problem. I gave him a 4/5 for clarity because his accent is sometimes difficult to understand, but he will repeat himself without a big deal if you ask. All the homework was done online, I didn't even have to buy the textbook.

It is amazing how the very same people who bash Mr. Bui on here cannot even spell simple words correctly to convey their thoughts. Maybe some of you should learn your abc's before you try the 123's. Bui is awesome by the way take him!!!

Bui is amazing. I was horrible at math, and had failed the same class prior to taking him, and I got an A in his class. He helps you with anything you need, and is never worried about taking out extra time to explain things to people. He also gives you extra chances to catch up if you are behind in class. He is funny too! :)

For 1033 I recommend all to take him as he is the best teacher ever! He gives you extra points towards your test which starts off as 5 pts. You do not need a text book as all homework, quizes and some test are done through mathxl.

Great guy, he keeps you laughing the through whole class and uses a lot of hilarious examples of the lesson to keep your attention. He does go a little fast but its easy to catch up with because he keeps you entertained, take lots of notes and make sure not to text in class.

A very knowledgeable Professor who understands that not everyone is going into a math field. He might explain things in terms that are a little too simple, especially for those learners who need real world examples. He sometimes gets a little mixed up on the way the book teaches something. He knows what he's doing, just doesn't convey it well.

Really makes sure you understand the math in front of you. Breaks it down in the simplest manner. Not a fan of math but he made it easy and simple to understand.

Math is my biggest headache. In his class I was able to understand and do really good on my tests. He is great. I would definitely take him again just make sure you do your homework because at the end it will make a big difference in your grade.

He really was just a help because my class was online so I really didn't need his help that much.

He was a great teacher. He uses myMathLab heavily instead of canvas. All your homework will be on myMathLab and they give you three tries to get the correct answer and if you still don't get it then you can keep trying till you do. The lectures aren't for an attendance grade but if you miss then you'll have to rely on myMathLab. Online code needed.

Professor was awesome! He is very clear about what is expected. If you keep up with the homework (using MyMathLab) and study his pretests you will do well. He presented the material very clearly and in an entertaining way. Would definitely recommend him!

Prof. Bui is a great math teacher! He's very patient and explains clearly the curriculum at hand. He's very lenient about homework, just be cautious that you don't fall behind and have to do it all in one day. He stays behind in class and answers questions/ goes further on the subject. Professor Bui is one of the best math teachers I have ever had. He will have you laughing during every lecture. He really cares about his students and takes extra time to make sure everyone understands. Tests are worth 60% of the grade, but if you do the reviews and homework you will pass the tests.

OH my gosh!!! He's all time my favorite teacher. Answers your questions PLUS more, i can not say enough good things about him. He's hilarious, one class a kid came in and wasn't paying attention so he called on him as a joke and when he couldn't answer it, Bui sniffed the expo marker and say "y'all sniffing the wrong stuff". I am about to finish his Pre-Calc class with a 99% as a dual-enrolled high school junior. Although I haven't had great experiences with any of my math teachers since 8th grade, I absolutely LOVE Professor Bui. He is extremely understanding about my high school schedule, and is an amazing teacher. His tests are exactly like his reviews. Take him!!

I've never understood math but he really takes his time to explain and make sure you understand the criteria, sometimes he will explain one problem three different ways to make sure everyone understands because he gets that we all prefer/interpret different methods. Awesome professor. Provides study guides for each test on mymathlab and the study guides are the EXACT SAME QUESTIONS like the test, he just changes the numbers. Hilarious during class and makes a lot of jokes. HW on mathlab is only 17 questions at the max. If you do the study guide and turn it into him on test day, he will add 2 pts to your test.

Professor Bui is great! I absolutely hate math and any time I ever did not understand something I could ask and he was very good at explaining it in a way I could understand. I would 100% take him again. At the beginning of the semester my grandfather passed away and he worked with me getting me on track with no problem!

I loved Professor Bui. His lectures were filled with many examples and made sure most of the class did understand the material. He has practice tests for the exam that if you do them you get extra credit. His practice tests are very similar to the exam. Come to class, ask questions, do homework, study and you'll pass.

Professor Bui is amazing. I took his MAT 0028 and MAT1033 8 weeks each, so both in one semester only. Advisors were telling me that an 8 week course for both courses was going to be hard, but the truth is that Professor Bui made it really fun and easy-going. I definitely recommend him!

Professor Bui is honestly the BEST Professor I have ever had in the history of Ever! I had to retake MAT1033 and was scared to death of failing. But he uses the ALEKS system instead of MyMathLab, and is ALWAYS available via email to answer any and all questions quickly! He motivates you to keep trying and is just a true gem! I could've very easily tested out of this course, but I decided to take it for a little refresher. It was super boring bc of that, but Hien Bui is a great prof. He clearly cares about his students--which is highly respectable. He sent an email asking if I was doing okay because I didn't access ALEKS for a while, most profs never notice.

Very funny, makes lectures enjoyable even if you don't like math. Tests are really easy. There are practice tests that you can do to prepare for the test and the test itself is even easier than the practice test. If you complete the practice test and turn it in, you get two extra points added to your test. Take this prof, you won't regret it.

Our class had four unit exams and one final. He also reviews the unit exam, which is identical to the tests. If you turn the review in, he'll add 2 pts to your test.

I took him for pre calculus algebra and he is by far the best math professor I have ever had. If you do the practice tests you practically already passed because the problems are very similar. He has a very hyper active personality and cracks many jokes but he always explained how to solve the problems with high detail. I would take his class again

Mr.Bui is an amazing math professor. He makes the coursework easy to understand. He doesn't just show how to do the problem, but he explains why the problem is solved the way it is, and the fundamental mathematics going on. If you do the practice tests, you will do well in the class.

I can't speak for the online experience but he's really good at the lectures. He's caring and he does give small bits of extra credit if you participate and actively do the study guides. The lectures are easy to follow and the homework is on a website I don't really like but if you do them (6-20q's) you can pass with a B if you're not a test-taker.

Literally the greatest! I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY reccomend if your are someone who is thinking about taking Math online.... he is super responsive to any questions you may have, shows that he cares about your progress, gives great insight on all assignments/exams/tests, and in my opinion very lenient. Take him!!

Very caring and encouraging. He uses the Aleks system for a semester it costs about $65. I found it easy to use and flexible if you are a busy person. He has plenty of resources on canvas to help you if you're struggling, and will sit down with you to help you during office hours.

AMAZINGG, would take him a thousand more times if I could. Lecture is so good no one really has to ask questions. He is patient, kind, and hilarious! I recommend 100/10. All you have to do is pay $60 for the Aleks course and he gives a 2 week free trial.

I took this class online which was managed by ALEKS. His grading weight is very test-heavy, and discussion boards did little to help your grade. Completing homework, topics, & practice quizzes minimally affects your grade. If you tank a test, it's extremely difficult to recover. I'm sure he's better in person, but online is not efficient.

Most sweetest, humorous, and intelligent teacher ever. I definitely recommend for those who struggle in math because he never skips a step (very repetitive). He is Viet so he has a slight accent but it's nothing people can't understand. Aleks heavy but it's very easy. Wish I could have him for every math class.

Mr. Bui was a great professor! He explained what we did in class and always sent canvas messages to remind us of our next test and to study. He would also go back to the tests (and quizzes) we would take and grade it to check if the system marked us wrong. He would also give us partial credit. He does not give extra credit. But still a good prof!

He deserves a 100/5 rating! Before taking his class, I would've said math was my least favorite subject but he explains things in a way that is easy to understand. If you don't get it, he will work with you. Very kind and understanding! Seriously cannot say enough good things! If you're trying to find a good math teacher, YOU FOUND HIM!!

Professor Bui makes math fun and bearable. Lectures are super engaging, though the material can be challenging. I found Unstuck ai super helpful for staying on top of the frequent tests and homework. Overall, a great class if you put in the work.

Throughout my entire education I have never had a teacher as incredible as him. For so long I thought I had a learning disability, but it was just the teachers I had. He makes things so easy to understand, is so thoughtful, and makes every class worth waking up for. PLEASE, if you're questioning who to take for algebra, pick Prof. Bui !!!

I LOVE mr.bui he was my intermediate algebra teacher and i understood everything. i saw someone say something about his accent, its not strong whatsoever, if you don't understand english then maybe, but its easy to understand. i failed college alg last semester, thought i was dumb but mr.bui made it SO easy and fun. tests are multiple choice!

THE BEST! I loved his class so much. I actually understood math, his class was so easy. Yes there is homework and a quiz due every week but trust doing it helps get you a good score on the test. His accent is not heavy at all, never once did someone not understand him lol. He is a great professor i would recommend and he's also funny.

Extremely kind, funny, and passionate professor! Fairly strong accent but he makes sure everyone can understand and see the board where he is doing work. The only reason I got a B was because I didn't study for the final but I'd advise using the study guide he puts on Canvas and the practice tests on Pearson for the other 4 tests.

Lots of homework but helps you understand. Wish I could take this professor for Mac1105 next semester!

He is a caring and understanding teacher. He cares about his students and always asks his students one by one if we are okay and need help in every class! He can go fast sometimes, but he is always willing to answer questions. I recommend him, he makes math easier and we only get about 2 assignments and 2 quizzes a week but they are very easy.

I took the online course, which had me worried as math is my worst subject. Mr. Hien was very kind and sympathetic, fixing grades on tests if you got the -/+ wrong, giving extensions, reminding you personally to take a quiz, etc. He supplied multiple ways to help students learn (lectures, worksheets, programs, readings,...). Class was 10/10

Mr. Hien Bui is the best professor All of the assignments are completed through ALEKS. There are only 3 quiz with 25 questions and the exam 33 questions all on Honorlock. final exam he provides a review with 60 questions videos if needed. he also puts videos if needed help on modules. I would absolutely take his class again 10000/10!

Professor Bui was an excellent communicator and accommodated me when I reached out with personal concerns. The class is online using the ALEKS platform which is super easy to use, and surprisingly helped me learn some concepts unlike most online learning extensions. From someone who hates math, this course was stress free.
