I can't say enough good things about Mr. Nguyen. Very helpful, makes the subject easy to learn. His review for the test is almost the same as the actual test, he just uses different numbers in the problems. Will be taking him for all my math classes at hcc northline.

I took this Instructor Math 1350 online. His instruction is very clear. He is very easy to deal with. Anyone need to take Math for Teachers, take him.

Sylabus is self explaintory. Start early on Homework. 3 Test and 1 Final all online. You really dont need to bother buy the text book because between my math lab and his course content notes my book would still be in the package if I didnt need the access code out of it. I never open the book at all. Math lab force you to understand the work

Great class!!! Great Teacher!! Took course online and don't need to ask Teacher questions at all. Syllabus is self explanatory. You truly learn in course. Couldn't ask for a better teacher honestly. I'm sticking with this teacher for Math as long as I possibly can.

Took 0312 Online for Spring 2011. There is ALOT of homework and I hardly used the book. I am horrible at Math but I feel like he makes the tests easy enough to pass. Make sure you study the pratice test on blackboard (not my mathlab) as he takes a lot of questions from that. Everything is online even the final which was very helpful to me. Got a B

This prof is nice and helpful. He gives reviews for every test & extra bonus points for completing mymathlab. Textbook not required. You do have to attend his class everyday & take notes. Some complain about the hmwk & tests, but this is college! Duh! I took him before & am taking his class again. Highly recommended!

It needs to be said that the tests are NOT online. Not a single one of them. They are similar to the review, but are NOT online. So whomever continues to spread this rumor needs to stop. The tests are still very hard, and he goes extremely fast.. Which is bad for people with math challenges like myself.

He is a very energetic, lively teacher, one that catches your attention. He is very detailed when he teaches something new for the simple fact that he WANTS you to understand it completely. Just do your mathlab, listen and study. He is not difficult at all. I got an A in his last class. I highly recommend him.

Took this class online this summer, there are a lot of homework, quizzes and 4 exams including the finals. I didn't have to use the book at all. He is very detailed about what he want the student to do. I made an 'A' in this class. Everything was done online including the finals.

Professor Nguyen was probably the best math teacher I've taken at HCC. He really cares that his students understand the material. He addresses questions from the homework, hands out reviews for tests, and is just an overall good teacher. I would definitely recommend anyone take him.

Mr Nguyen actually teaches.He will answer your question so don't be shy,just ask! I'm not great at math but I'm not terrible either and I passed with an A. The practice exams is almost identical to the test so study them. Drops your lowest test grade. No make up exams. lots of homework on webassign so don't fall behind.

I took College Algebra with Prof. Nguyen in Spring online. His instruction was very clear on Eagle Online 2. All exams were also online on Eagle Online. Homework was on WebAssign. His grading policy allowed to drop the lowest exam, which was very helpful. Highly recommended.

I took Math 1351 with this prof. He was very easy to deal with. All exams and homework will be online. His exams very similar to practices. Take him if you need this class.

This is my 2nd time taking College Algebra, and if it wasn't for Prof. Nguyen then I'd probably be going for my 3rd! He explains the material in a very easy to understand way! I'm horrible at math-or I was before I took his class!! He is a great teacher, and really cares about the students! Prof Nguyen also explains everything really good, and if you don't get it he will explain it until you do! I will totally take him again!! You also don't need the book, just the one from webassign which is like $75! Best teacher ever!

Math is not my strength, with that said, I've made A's on my exams. Gives exam reviews before each one. He graciously let me make up a missed exam which is super awesome! Most professors don't do that. I'd def take him again! Also, do the Math lab homework, it'll help.

This is among my best professors ever. Dr Nguyen is a wonderful instructor, gave me extra tutoring when I couldn't understand. Responds to email quickly. I advise you take this professor, his review questions are very similar to the exams. Study the review questions and you'd get an A.

Professor Nguyen explained every step that was needed to fully grasp each Trigonometric concept. I never really cracked the textbook because his lectures explained everything. He give opportunities for extra credit, and encourages students to ask questions. Come to class, take notes- succeed! He is an excellent professor! I wish he taught Pre-Cal!

I took two different courses under him i started with 0312 then decided to have him again under 1314 college algebra. His lectures are very informative though i do believe they need to be longer but he breaks things down barney style if you are like me and have with math.. you leave the class everytime feeling optimistic and wanting to learn more

Mr. Nguyen gave lecture notes, review sheets and math videos to help prepare you for the exams. There are 26 homework problems, 4 exams, and a final. He also drops the lowest test score out the first 4 exams. The test are very similar to the reviews. The final is somewhat similar to the review. I got a B in his class.

He's amazing! Since middle school could never really comprehend math, but on all of his tests I have made A's & B's; expects you to complete online HW & if you have it finished up to a certain point, he gives bonus points on your test. He drops the lowest test grade. All reviews are similar to the tests & you can use cheat sheets on your test.

THE BEST TEACHER EVER! From the first day of class all instruction are very clear. Homework is easy, and test are identical to reviews. One of the best math teachers out there. Lets you use formula sheets for tests. As long as you take good notes you'll be ok. I took him for College Algebra and Trig and passed both classes with A. He drops lowest test grade.

Prof. Nguyen is very intelligent, and is an excellent teacher. There are 4 tests in total, he drops the lowest test score, and he even lets you create a "cheat sheet" for usage on each exam. Homework is optional and is to be completed online, but if you complete each homework section with an A, he will add points bonus points to your exam grade.

I took this class online during the holiday break. It wasn't too bad but you're basically teaching yourself if you decide that route which can get pretty tedious. Notes and exams he provides are clear cut and made for you to understand along with test reviews. Helpful too. I definitely would take him in person for a future class!!

I took him for Trigonometry and I can safely say he is the best math professor I've ever had. He goes into great detail with his lectures and is more than willing to go over concepts if needed. The textbook and the homework are online. If you keep up with your homework and do not miss any classes (emphasis on the latter), you'll do fine.

Great professor

He seems to care about his students and is very fair. The reviews are similar to the tests, definitely do them and get an A. Not too much homework. Only take this class if you are strong at math and are willing to work because you will be teaching yourself. Lectures aren't provided but you can definitely learn from the textbook.

Took him for Cal 1 5 weeks over summer. 3 tests (48%), HW (20%), and Final (32%). All HW done on web assign, which you have to pay $100. Five chapters, each chapter roughly 6-8 sections, 16-20 problems per section. All the tests were based on HW, so you have to know how to do them to pass. Each test 30 questions. Responds quick.

Just finished an online course with this professor, and his course is fantastic. His tests are well laid out, and the reviews help you succeed. You do have to put effort to make an A, but as long as you study and do the reviews, you will do fine.

Took Calc I online. Course, grading straightforward. All exams online- 1 regular exam proctored, 2 regular exams at home. Final is proctored of course. Do all the HW in a timely manner, and complete and study the exam reviews, and it's an easy A.

Took him for Calc I online. Prof. Nguyen worked with my schedule and is very responsive with emails. Test 1 & Final are on campus. The exams are exactly like the reviews. It's an easy A, just know how to do the homeworks and review problems. Also, he allows a notecard for formulas on every exam.

Math has always been my weakest subject, but the degree I want requires Cal I and II. Prof Nguyen is the best to take if you struggle with math. He gives you a chance. I took online Pre-Cal and got a B. All exams are multiple choice, and HW through MyMathLab. Tip: STUDY THE EXAM REVIEWS! The exams are nearly identical (sometimes same ?s are used)

This class requires you to work at least 8-10 hours per week. I learned so much more in this class than I thought I would, however I felt homework was overkill.

Great course I did his online class. He will provide with the necessary resources for you to pass as youtube videos for you to understand the subject better. You have to work for your grade since is an online course. Homework is heavy and some problems you need to answer at least 10 different tabs for only 2 points worth on the problem.

Prof. Hien Nguyen is a very good math professor. He is passionate of what he teach. He makes the problems easy to understand. Grading is clear. Do the homework and quizzes online. Come to his class everyday because his lectures are very helpful. Don't go over exam reviews in class but answer any questions from reviews or homework. Highly recommend.

Professor Nguyen is the best math teacher I have ever had! I never thought that the best math teacher I would have would be one you could take online. Homework is excessive, but it prepares you for other classes. Be ready to work if you take it in 8-weeks or in summer. It's very doable. Extra Credit is given if you fill out his evaluation.

Professor Nguyen was certainly a good math professor. For the most part, he posts lecture notes and videos for you to watch and then has you complete homework problems, quizzes, discussions, and tests. He primarily lets you work on your own but he is available whenever you need him.

TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! You won't regret it! He provides you with lecture notes, videos, and more. Lots of homework, but they prepare you for the test. This is one of those everything is online courses, in my second attempt to take this class I'm glad I chose him. He provides so many materials for you to study with including recorded class sessions. I hope to have him for any future courses.

Very awesome teacher! Would definitely recommend taking this professor, especially for Calculus 2 that's mad difficult. He assigns a lot of homework and they are due weekly. It's a self paced class but as long as you do your work on time and don't procrastinate and ask him questions, you should be fine.

He was an absolute gem! There were four exams, a departmental final, and a quiz before for each exam. Note: No notes or calculators are allowed on the exams. All homework was due at the end of the semester on connect math. Closer to exam time, he had weekly meetings on zoom so you could ask him any questions you had. They helped so much!

Professor don't really give any lectures but he gives you the materials to study ahead all the way to the end of the term. The professor is decent that all I can say but calculus is hard and self study can be an important discipline you need to do well in the class. Use the materials provided and study ahead and you will be fine.

Professor Nguyen was overall a great professor. He puts all the material on canvas from day 1 but he assigns tons of homework. All in all everything he does prepares you for the tests he gives, but be prepared to work extremely hard and hit the ground running. I took an 8 week course which sped up the class drastically, but it was still worth.
