Professor Gunay is one of the best profs i've had so far. He uses great examples to explain the material and makes sure you understand before moving on. He is probably the best prof for answering your emails quickly. Do not be worried about his accent he is very easy to understand.

Nice professor! Professor Gunay is always want his students to learn and help you. Don't worry his accent! He is very easy-going and approachable. Don't skip class and try to take all the economic courses with him!

Finally!! A prof who knows how to teach & make the class enjoyable. He'll try & scare students out of his class on the first day, but stick with him, you will learn, understand, & remember so much from him. He marks very hard, but only b/c he tends to give very similar ques. in the lectures. He expects your best, but easy to do under his tutelage.

One of the greatest teachers I have ever met. Good sense of humor. Having a Master and PhD degree in mathematics, he made the Econ course well organized and easy to follow. I recommend choose his course when possible, you can learn a lot from him.

He is a pretty good prof although the first time I saw him I thought he's kind of boring. He made good notes each class and he is very helpful to the students. He is really nice, very funny, and if you care about learning he cares about teaching. If you take his class as a joke you will do bad. If you do your part and ask questions when you need to he is very helpful. He will come off as a bad or rude prof at first but give him some time. He is also very funny in class and gives funny examples. AWESOME!

Game Theory is very intersting. It is a technical course. Gunay did a great job. Highly recommended :)

Overal a really engaging prof, one of my favourite so far. He has a moderately thick eastern bloc accent, but you should get used to this in a few classes- I barely noticed it by the end of the course. He was VERY humorous, and made me laugh at least once per class. His lectures were clear and everything was on powerpoint. would recommend

His explanations are clear. He gives tons and tons of examples. I will not forget how he auctioned a bottle of orange juice to explain demand. His humor rocks. He knows his students' names in a class of more than 100. He can even write Chinese! Best prof.

Lectures are basically from slides straight from the textbook material. However attending class is helpful, he gives useful examples. His humour got somewhat juvenile at times but for the most part made the class more engaging. Watch out for the grading scheme (95% A+) and be prepared to do lots of practice questions if you want a good grade.

ABSOLUTE BEAUTY. Couldn't ask for a better micro prof. Sit in the front and get engaged with the class. Everything he says is in the notes on the slides, which are taken from the textbook (fourth edition is fine). Not that many practice questions are given so make sure you know all the right answers and why for every practice question for A+ (95%!)

My first impression of him was that his Eastern European accent would make his lectures really difficult to understand, but after a week or so you really do get used to it. Professor Gunay makes the concepts easy to understand through thorough examples.

By far my favourite professor after my first semester of university. Clearly knows economics and uses lots of humour in his lectures! Has an accent but you easily get used to it! Two 25 question exams, an online assignment and online final. Super easy!

Funny prof, and he cares about his students. Many people find his accent difficult to follow, but you get used to it. He's got lots of interesting stories and relates material to the real-world. Tests are worth a lot, so study hard for them!

Took Econ 1010 with him my first semester at the University of Manitoba - could not have asked for a better professor for this subject. He taught everything perfectly and had a textbook-optional class which was great. Explained everything thoroughly. And he's so funny, don't think we've ever had a day when the entire class didn't laugh out loud!

Definitely knows his stuff, also relates it to his real-world experiences which helped to understand a lot. If you show up and focus you will do completely fine. Both midterms are worth almost half your grade so make sure you study, but that means the final is small which is nice during finals season. He does have an accent, but you get used to it

This guy is an absolute legend. Super funny and makes concepts very clear. He has an accent but is still very easy to understand, and he posts lecture notes after class so brushing up on material is easy. His grading scale is quite strict but the class is easy enough that a good grade is still feasible for most people provided they attend class.

Solid prof. He can be somewhat savage in his lectures, but does try to connect with students even in a large class. He says attendance is not mandatory, but there is way more information in his lectures than the notes he posts online. Also the online notes aren't posted regularly. Go to class, PAY ATTENTION and you will do well.

Overall good prof. I enjoyed the class however lectures can be somewhat tedious. Enjoyed our grading structure, 2 big mid-term exams with an easy final that wasn't worth very much. Make sure you attend his class, everything he teaches is due to his own knowledge, this is also what you are graded on. TAKE NOTES, this is very important

Just a Beauty. Very funny and easily grabs your attention with his examples. Class isnt officially mandatory, but if you go to every lecture and work, the class is easy. Also do not buy a textbook, save a few bucks and go to class, and you will learn everything you need to know.

I love this guy. He's so funny. The test's aren't difficult but there were always a few questions which it seemed like we never learnt in lectures. The textbook wasn't required and you can totally pass without it but if you want an A i would suggest getting the textbook cause his lectures are easy but there's questions on material he doesnt cover

Kids a legend- every example had to do with liquor. Has 2 big tests (40%) and the final exam is online and an absolute joke, basically everyone gets an A+ on it. Lectures were hilarious and he gives really good notes. His tests did body quite a few people cuz the guy tries to trick you.

Took this course a few years ago. Excellent and horrible at the same time. He simplifies even the most difficult concepts while making the class entertaining. Some of his lectures are hilarious. The horrible part? His grading. Very tough. Many students dropped the class after the first test. Be careful with his grading scale.

READ THIS REVIEW: Hikmet is unarguably the best prof I have at U of M, out of the 5 courses I am taking in my first semester. He takes his time with his notes, always goes step by step if you are someone who worries about falling behind. He is a funny guy, has an accent but its not a worry. He's a really good teacher, he doesn't post slides but the course content is the same with online resources like khan academy.. he gives multiple choice exams so i found that really great and he doesn't give a final exam (at least for the time i took it)... it was just 3 tests and 1 assignment.. would definitely take his class again

Hikmet was a solid prof. He did not post notes when I took the class which made me go to class which benefited me in the long run. If you pay attention in class, you will do fine.

No textbook, he writes all the course notes in class so if you don't show up you won't have another chance to get the notes. His lectures aren't boring and he presents concepts in a way that's easy to understand.

make the hardest course one of the easiest he will always tell you he is tough grader or makes paper hard believe me he will teach you so good that it will be like water he is the best professor i wish he teaches full time in uofm. Man you are Russian legend

Just go to class and pay attention. He's not one to overcomplicate things and tests are almost word-for-word from examples in class or practice tests he's posted. Not to mention, he's a funny/sarcastic guy so class doesn't get boring!

He is the most fantastic math teacher any students can ask for. He makes hard materials super easy and he doesnt beat around the bush with the material. Very straightforward.

Although the professor had an accent, students could adopt about a week and his lectures were very interesting and well organized. Attend class and finish your homework on time, and you can definitely get an A + .

This has been one of my favourite professors so far. he is super funny and makes the material super easy to understand. He makes sure that every student in the lecture understands. He has a hard grading criteria, but he teaches the material super well so the exam is easy.

He was one of the best profs I've had so far. His grading scale was tougher than other sections but it didn't really matter because his lectures and examples were so good, and a lot of the class still did very well. His exams were also very fair, no surprises with the types of questions you see. Cannot recommend him enough.

Going to lectures is not mandatory, but it's best if you do go, he clarifies a lot of the content in the textbook.

He gave many examples and exercises in class, that's really helpful on the test cause they almost the same type of question and he just change some data. Also, 90 minutes is pretty a long time to finish the test while you just need 45 to 50 to finish them all.

His lectures are easy to follow, and he is unequivocal. He constantly checks in throughout the lectures to ensure the class understands the concepts well. It was a great experience overall. Come to class if you want good grades. Found the lectures to be pretty good for a 3hrs lecture as he keeps them exciting with random jokes. Also, he is very approachable if you have any problems.
