He needs his long crazy curls to look like a maniac scientist. He is very off the wall in notes and hard to follow, but his class is easy b/c it follows bold print words in book.
He is very helpful, and truly excited about biology. FUN teacher!!
He gives lots of extra credit!
He is always very excited about biology. Any question you ask him, he will explain everything he knows about that in detail. He is helpful and I love his hair (although he just cut it)
This class is very interesting and exciting. He brings the study of mushrooms and yeasts ALIVE!
A+++ best bio prof..helpful to students in everyway..always willing to take time out of his busy schedule for his students...highly recommend him for any bio classes..
craddock is easy :D some tests lots of extra credit given , gave a whole test for free in his class 40 points :D
AWESOME teacher. he is interesting, and willing to help in anyway. he makes jokes about himself all the time. if you can, take craddock!
I found Mr. Craddock's method of teaching a little boring during lecture.
Very knowledgeable about the subject. I would highly recommend him for anyone.
If you take good notes and review from the book you'll do great. He is really knowledgeable and very willing to help students. Go and see him during office hours if you need help with anything. I thought his lectures were especially interesting.
Craddock is a very charismatic professor. His lectures are pretty interesting and will sometimes make you laugh. He is willing to help all his students succeed in his class. Take gd notes/review from the book & you will do fine. Overall, one of the nicest prof I've had. Oh yea HIS HAIR ROCKS!!!
Nice guy, and a alright professor, but boring as anything. Find someone who has old tests and you'll be fine. I just found out however he did not add my extra credit points to my grade which is ok b/c I had an A, but if I needed the points, they wouldnt be there. not very personable.
I would not recomment this class to anyone. The syllabus for the class was useless. At the end of the semester we started having tests over chapters he never went over, since he couldn't follow his own syllabus. I had an appointment with him and he never showed up. Unless you love the Chestnut Trees, don't take this class .
Great enthusiasitc professor who brings the study of mushrooms alive. A+
Very engaging professor who's witty and caring of his students. I would definitely take a class with him again as he actually helped me get interested in a subject I didn't care anything about.
Friendly and enthusiastic, biology teacher.
It's pretty boring but he explains things really well and he can be fun and enthusiastic. But definitely thoroughly read the chapters for the tests and quizzes. Also, that syllabus was completely useless. Don't expect the tests to be over those chapters.
VERY CONFUSING!!!
I hated his class! Those who had this class with me Tues, thurs at 8 would agree that he was horrible. Half the people dropped... there was no attendance policy and 75% of the people in there failed for the semester. He was annoying. I hated his class.
Individual studies. . .what more can I say. Just help him out and show up. Really knows his chestnut trees too. Great and funny professor once you get to know him. :-)
So 121 at 8am was definitely a ton harder than 122 at 5:30pm. He offered so much more extra credit in 122. Maybe he's just not a morning person. It is imperative that you read the chapters in the book and do the questions on them to do well on the tests and quizzes.
It was his first time to teach cell biology. He did a good job overall. Although he provided test bank questions, it is really up to the student to learn the stuff in the book to fully get the most out of this course. The lab was activities were great. . .get ready for some electrop****ising!
Horrible teacher. Didn't make sense AT ALL. You have to study everyday 3937 hours a day to get a good grade in his class. Don't take him unless you absolutely have to.
Great Professor! Notes given are useful for test questions. He is not tricky but you must read/skim the ch's assigned & study the review pages. There are fill in the bank questions on tests. All around interesting teacher even at 8am!
Dr. Craddock is great! He keeps the class interested by throwing in lots of humor. He wants you to do well and looks for ways to help the class. Makes mushrooms, molds, and yeasts interesting!
He was a good professor and as long as you actually read the chapters the class is easy! Test or quiz every other friday so you dont have to remember a lot at one time!
i love dr. craddock,he is a great teacher and the nicest person you will ever meet, funny too!
Always smiling! Skim over chapters and know bold words. Tests 40 pts and quizzes 20 pts. Fill in the blank, mult. choice, and sometimes essay. Overall easy class. Writes notes on board.
Dr. Craddock is my favorite professor at UTC. He is funny, and finds ways to make the material as fun as possible. He gives out way too much extra credit, so there's no reason everyone shouldn't make an A. Textbook is not mandatory, but complimentary. I really wish I could take Craddock again. He's THAT awesome.
Dr. Craddock is the Mr. Rogers of Botany. He is so smart and the nicest guy in the whole world. He even says he is the nicest guy he knows. "In short in matters vegetable, animal, and mineral he is the very model of a modern major general." --Pyrates of Penzance by Gilbert and Sullivan. Hi, Dr. Craddock! Peace and Love.
Lots of chili peppers out to Dr. Craddock!
Caio, Dr. Craddock! You are such a good person and my role model. I hope I acquire half as much as you know. You inspire me to keep my enthusiasm and try to learn another language. You are an extremely fair and generous professor. If one shows up to class on time, does extra credit, takes good notes, studies the notes (typed), one will do well.
Dr. Craddock is one of most enthusiastic teachers I've ever had. I feel that while I was definitely challenged in this class, that he is absolutely wonderful. Make sure to read the textbook and go to lecture because without these two things you'll never get over a C.
He can bounce around in his notes, thus it is mandatory for you to keep up with reading the chapter. But he is a super nice guy and extremely willing to help. His quizzes and tests are easy if you know the material!
Personally I didnt like Dr. Craddock's teaching style. He was all over the board with his notes. He knows what he is talking about and he is very interested in it which is a good thing. Could be funny at times.
Best Teacher in the University of Tennessee System...or possibly in the South!...I wish we would teach other professors in his department i.e. Barbosa :(... how to be a respectable human being with care for others than yourself...Thank You for being so AWESOME...
I would take this professor again if I had to take another Bio class. Having said that, he goes into WAY to much detail and tests you on every detail. He only got through half the material he was supposed to because he was so in depth. Good for andavnce Biology but the name of this class was Beginning Biology. Good teacher though, good attitude.
ok this was definitely my favorite class so far! He is so funny without even trying! Some of the test are kinda hard but i'd take this class over again for sure. He gives extra credit on almost every quiz and test btw...
I took Dr. Craddock for both Biol 1110 and Biol 1120 (Biology I and II) and he was an amazing teacher. He is sarcastic and times and very witty, and always willing to help. As long as you take decent notes in class and study your text book you'll do just fine. Long live the Castanea Dentata!
His Teaching style is fast but also very detailed, he is a great teacher and will help you to a great deal however he can. He is extremely witty and hilarious, I honestly wish his class was longer then 50 minutes because I feel I could learn so much more, while my art class is 2 and 1/2 hours long.....bleh. Easily my favorite class.
I love this man beyond belief. He's easily the best biology teacher I've ever had, maybe the best teacher ever. Genuinely passionate and cares a lot about any class he teaches. He's fast paced, but doesn't make things harder than needed. More than willing to help if you ask him, and just a great person to talk to overall. Take a class with him!!
I love Dr. Craddock!I'm in my third class with him this semester. He doesn't take attendance but if you want to do well GO TO CLASS and take good notes because the tests are from his notes. He is so willing to help and loves to teach. If he uses a huge word he always explains what it means.I think his geekiness and his curly fro is so cute:)Take him!
best teacher ive ever had. easy guy to get along with and fun to talk to outside of lectures. he can be scatterbrained, but you just have to be good at picking the stuff he puts emphasis on to study. one of the last professors i know who actually teaches instead of reading from a power point.
TAKE HIM, TAKE HIM, TAKE HIM!
This guy is awesome! But you have to read and go to class.
Very intelligent and funny guy. However, his tests are extremely hard. He will go over tons of lecture notes and none of it will be on the test. I have studied so hard in that class and have a C.
Great teacher, funny and nice. Tests weren't to hard i would recommend him for anybody.
He's a great teacher and is hilarious. As long as you study his notes and review the book you'll get an A.
He is an amazing professor and is willing to help with anything you need. He is also hilarious!!
hes funny but he just teaches by writing messy on a white board.. you dont have to go to class, which makes it hard to go.... quiz or test every other friday.. quizzes not hard. tests are. you must study weekly and read the text book. If u rnt very smart or dont like biology i wouldnt take him. He's not that bad tho! also unclear on some stuff.
This guy is pretty amazing. He goes straight by the book and is probably one of the funniest teachers I have ever had. You don't have to go to class but that is pretty dependent on your level of work. I never went except on fridays, but studied the book everyday and got an A. But if you aren't gona study then don't, his tests are kind of hard.
He is not always super interesting and his handwritting is hard to read so sit up closer. He doesn't take attendence so it was hard to go sometimes. But I never really read the book so going to class helped. Do the quizes in the back of each chapter. He takes questions from those quizes. I would reccommend.
This professor is not as easy as his ratings reflect. Most people got a C in our class. He isn't an easy professor, and if you want to do good in the class you have to go every day, study, and take notes. Not easy, but a B earned w/ little effort.
He's a very good professor. He knows his stuff and is able to convey it crystal clear. He will hold you to the bell. You rarely use the book, never in class.
Professor Craddock isn't exactly what he seems on here. His quizzes are easy, but his tests are ridiculous. He puts questions on the tests that we haven't gone over, and he admits it. But he won't give you points back on them. We took three tests and an exam and I didn't get over a 75 on them. I read the book and took notes and never skipped class.
hes really easy and alot of people have the old tests (that he never changes) and really funny
Interesting class. Read the book and go to class and you will make an A. tests are multiple choice and sometimes an essay. Exam is a review of old tests. Lecture is sometimes confusing but worth going. I would recommend this teacher.
Mycology was highly interesting. However, Dr. Craddock made it miserable. The lectures were monotonous and his handwriting was worse than a doctors. Mycology is a very interesting subject that was made to be boring by the professor.
Easy class if you have old tests/quizzes. He asks just about the same exact questions from old tests. Attendance not mandatory, very confusing at times but nice guy and helpful guy. If you get your hands on an old test/quiz your set.
This class isn't too bad once you figure out how he grades. If you're one of the people who can't stand when teachers don't erase the board completely, you may want to reconsider taking him. It's a good idea read the chapter alongside your notes. And DO THE QUESTIONS IN THE BACK OF THE CHAPTERS. He uses the same questions.
Dr Craddock is great. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you should go for the sake of learning from what he knows. If he knows you, he will really help you pass.
Actually teaches, actually helps students who are struggling. Quizzesexams are based from back of the book questions. He gives back the quizzesexam with the correct answers to study for the final exam which is the 4 previous exams combined. Highly recommend.
Craddock is one of my favorite professors by far! Attendance is not required but you'll be missing out on a lot if you don't go. If you can, try to get some old tests and quizzes to study from. He makes Biology really interesting and you can tell he's very passionate about it. I would definitely take him again!
Craddock is a good professor. His lectures are usually interesting and he can be extremely funny at times. His quizzes usually come straight from the notes. His tests are difficult because there is information on them that we didnt go over in class. However, all these questions come the book. read the book and study your notes and you'll do well
I had him for both 1010 and 1020. He is a great teacher and cares that his students understand the material. He expects you to read the textbook, but I never did and made an A in both classes. Show up and take good notes and you will be fine. Pro tip: The review questions at the end of the chapters are on the tests.
It's biology, so it's not the easiest subject. He is a good professor and is interesting. He doesn't understand the online textbook much, but it helps you a lot when you need it. Paying attention in class is key. He will help you if you have a question.
I took professor Craddock for 1110 and 1120. It's definitely necessary to go to his class unless you get the notes from someone else. He doesn't really ever assign homework. The quizzes and tests are a little difficult but it's usually straight from the notes. The questions on the final come from the quizzes and tests.
OKAY LISTEN HERE. If you need to take any bio, take craddock. He is the funniest, wittiest, sassiest, intelligent and passionate man you'll ever meet. I sat on the front row the whole semester and it was the best decision I have ever made. He genuinely cares about his job, and all the tests are the end of chapter tests. 10/10 on the zaddie scale
Dr. Craddock is quite an interesting character. He is very sarcastic and quite funny, and seems to love what he does. I learned absolutely nothing from his lectures. If you take him, just disregard anything he says in class. Pay attention to what chapter will be on the test, as long as you read the textbook, you will be A-okay!
Overall this class is very enjoyable. I suggest attending class and reading the text book. While reading note both the bold terms and end of chapter questions. He is really nice and does research, so he offers volunteer hours. There is plenty of extra credit given so he really cares about your success!
Take him! He is funny and will give you help if you ask for it. He usually gives a couple extra credit assignments throughout the semester.
Craddock is a solid teacher, and he makes the lectures fun and engaging. He's a teacher that cares that the students actually understand the concepts. If you don't read the textbook, you WILL struggle with passing the class. Plus, he gives out several extra credit opportunities.
Even though Biology is a hard subject, Dr. Craddock makes the class so much fun and enjoyable. He is very passionate about the subjects and knows how to lighten the mood. His thoughts are kind of all over, so you just really have to pay attention! I would definitely take this class again!
I LOVED THIS CLASS. Craddock is super nice and he really cares about how students feel about something. His extra credit is offered after each test and he goes over the quizzes after we take them. No assigned homework. Tests and quizzes are pulled straight from the textbook and the final required only 2-3 hours of study time. 10/10 would recommend
Dr. Craddock is absolutely AMAZING. He is funny, super reasonable, really wants his students to understand. Gives so many extra credit opportunities. Attendance isn't mandatory but very helpful in getting a good grade in the class. Definitely get/ USE the textbook. One of my favorite professors, there are many great things to say. Take him.
Every once in a while you get a professor whose enthusiasm for the subject they teach is infectious. I am not a biology major and have never been much interested in biology until taking this class with Dr. Craddock. He gives off the impression that biology is his life and something that he is very passionate about.
He is an eccentric man but loves to teach biology. This is the second time I have had him and had A's easily. I would say to keep quizzes and tests because he uses questions for future tests and quizzes.
I love Dr. Craddock. He alternates between exams and quizzes every other week with no homework. You need to read the chapters of the book, but skimming it should work. Focus on the specifics. He gives lots of extra credit that brought my grade from a mid-B to a high A at the end of the semester. He is funny and passionate about the subject.
Professor Craddock is a good teacher, but he can be a bit scattered. He goes over most of the information you need to know for a test/quiz, but not all subjects are covered in depth. If you want to do well in class always READ AHEAD of where you are supposed to be.
I love Dr. Craddock as his class was very straight forward and as long as you paid attention and put a little effort in reading the material. You will do fine and should make an A. He is an interesting guy and a bit rambley at times but in the end as long as you pay attention and red the book you should make an A.
Dr. C is one of the best! Very knowledgeable in his field (aka chestnut trees and fungi), but is not as great at actually teaching or conveying his knowledge to students. He does not seem to think powerpoints are helpful which makes studying difficult unless you want to sit down & read the whole textbook. Most quiz and test questions are online tho
Professor Craddock is one of the most fair professors you will ever take. He is clear about his expectations and if you do what he asks, its an easy A. Hes very very passionate about what he teaches which makes lecture fun and engaging. Loved having and definitely recommend him for upper level bios.
He's one of the best professors I have had at utc. He really cares about his students and only wants them to succeed. I had him for dendrology and although the material itself was not very interesting to me, he made it interesting.
We took mycology as a survey. Craddock exemplifies ‘education is what you make of it.' He taught us to identify food, medicine, and poison of the land, a perceptive skill you will not master from anyone else. We neglected his mastery of cellular development. Try to understand why fungal development is different, IT IS analogous to disease.
Dr. Craddock is a really funny guy. He definitely cares about his students and wants you to like him. The class itself is pretty easy, but beware of those quizzes.
