The MOST Clear, Intelligent, Easy to Understand Teacher, Must take him, Easy A
Honestly, his class is not very helpful because it's too easy! Any dummy can get an A! His accent also makes his lecture unclear. If you're someone who just wants to get the credit for GE, take him. If you're someone who actually wants to learn something, I won't recommend him.
BEST teacher, very knowledgeable, explains subject very clearly, very kind and nice, MUST Take him, Easy A, his accent is really not bad at all
easy teacher. just go to class and take notes and you will do great. didnt even show up half the time and still got a B in class. almost everything is online and unlimited retakes on weekly homework tests. very recomended!!!
Class was really really easy. I took the online class, I just guessed on the quizes and the midterm questions were taken directly from the quizes and you can access the answers to the quizes online so you can get a 100% without even trying. I didn't even study for the final and I ended up getting a B in the class.
My 1 complaint about the class was that it was too easy--way too easy. I actually studied a bit & got an A, but I could have studied a lot less & still aced it. If u study, u'll learn the material; if u don't study, u can still get an A, but u won't know the material. So it gets down to how much info u want to know. Would take again.
Easy A or B, Guaranteed to Pass, just show up to class, which is usually only 1 day a week class, and try to turn in ur assignments, and do the weekly online assignments, and you are good to go with a PASSING GRADE!! if u have problems or questions, he works with you every step and show you! Great Guy, Great intentions!! A Plus!
Dr. Hoang Nguyen is a very dedicated professor, knowledgeable, and willing to help students who are in need. I am very happy to have his class this semester (Fall 2005) and recommend new students to take his classes.
This was my 2nd class w/this Prof (review 8/15/05); the biggest change was a group project; it was a little tough, but everyone got an A. Like I already said: it comes down to what u want to know. If u're willing to put effort into the class, u'll learn some fascinating stuff--otherwise, u can jump in a lake and still get a decent grade.
Very easy class if you attend, participate, do the reading and pay attention to the lecture. I've taken other Econ classes that involve nothing but math, so it was nice to have instructor focus real-world style aspects of Economics. Dr. Nguyen is very helpful, and a nice man who is easy to ask questions of.
He is a good teacher. Stick with it and it gets easier and easier. Do your work and you'll do good. Assignments due once a week, test follow all the old quizzes so be sure and print them out.
This course requires explaining, and this teacher is not up for the job, he is very unclear. If you are an economics major, you would want to learn so do not take this class online, if not, then take this class get a C or B without learning anything. Keep in mind, he is confusing and it could get frustrating. Also, he does not offer extra credit.
HANDS DOWN BEST ECON TEACHER AT CRC. IF YOU ARE THINKING OF TAKING LE, DONT!! NGUYEN COULDNT MAKE THIS CLASS ANY EASIER BUT THERE IS ALOT OF WORK AND YOU WILL LEARN! HES EVEN PRETTY FUNNY AT TIMES. JUST MAKE SURE YOU GRASP THE FIRST 4 CHAPTERS REALLY WELL AND THE REST SHOULD COME EASY. DONT TAKE LE!!!
Dr. Nguyen is a lay back professor. Just do the homeworks and projects you will be fine. There is no way that you can fail his class if you do the works and go to class.
Great professor! Highly recommend to take his class. Every week online HW test. 4 group projects, which are very interesting. Final in class, recommend to study for it.
Great teacher, cares a lot about students, just do the homework on blackboard, be in class, participate and you got yourself a good grade. Definitely would take his class again.
Mr. Nguyễn is really cool. One of the nicest teacher ever had!!! Class is going ease. Just come to class everyday you'll do fine. Don't even need the text book. Homeworks and quizzes are based on his lectures.
he's a lazy instructor with heavy accent. Highly dont recommend him
If you are having a hard time with micro this is the class to take. This class is so simple that if you cannot pass this online course maybe you should consider not being a business major.
I have learned a lot in this class, it was the professor who got me into Finance. Thanks a lot
This instructor is very easy and will assist if you need it. I had my baby couple days befor the midterm and he was able to accomodate me by emailing the midterm to me and as soon as i am done I just emailed it back to him. And he would send out emails of economic related news for interested students. Very good teacher.
Good prof. Grades fair. Assignments clear, not difficult. Prof. understanding and works with your schedule if needed. Took him for ECON 302 also. 304 is more difficult, requires more studying. Responds to e-mail inquiries in good time. Double check assignment due dates, sometimes prof. gets them confused. Find someone to work with day 1 for online.
Professor Nguyen is highly professional and is always prepared. There is alot of work involved, but it's all in the benefit of understanding the subject. I would take more classes from him.
This professor has a respect for the subject that he teaches. His lectures are detailed and very helpful. Be prepared for supplemental mandatory reading, the reading is very relevant and will help you understand how things work in real life, but require some additional effort. Overall I will recommend taking him.
Take this class and no other for Econ. This was an online class and believe me you will learn well it just takes discipline on students part to get assignments done in timely fashion. I highly recommend this teacher he offers extra credit as well.
Great teacher. Not easy, but if you stay on top of the weekly assignments and read your book, you will do fine.
Awesome teacher! very very hard! failed the final, but hes very nice and understanding. Need text book (need it to do the quizzes). Have to do group work a lot of it. but over it was fun.
Mr. Hoang Nguyen was very helpful and nice. He will even give you advice with your career.
Although his class is SO BORING and make u so sleepy but he's a good teacher. He's not that hard and not that easy. He let you use notes on the test.
online: he wa very nice and helpful. easy going. everything is straight foward from the text book and his lecture. a lot of homework+quiz and four group papers, but still easy.
this professor is hard on attendance but he's an awesome teacher. Keep up in the book for homework and his lectures and im sure you'll be passing with flying colors
Sometimes i have a hard time understanding him because of his accent. The class was really boring...He is funnie at times and is nice. I thought that his class was going to be soo easy, but he seems to grade pretty hard. I wish he was more clear as to what format and specific contents that is needed in his like group assignments!
Very good straight forward online class. Book, lectures and class participation are all you need to know if you want good grade. Take control of homework assignments and group projects. In online classes you will learn a lot on your own pace. A lot of work but highly recommend.
He is a great teacher with a great sense of humor. He is helpful and very knowleagable. I recommend his class.
Not an easy class. There is a quiz every week, he only give you once chance and 2 hour time period to finish it, flip though the book while take the quiz does not really work. Midterms are online, they are from your quiz. If you think take this course to get easy A, I suggest you don?t take this class.
the class is okay, but the teacher himself is ridiculous. He is not as nice as he seems. He's so hard to deal with and talk to. So not understanding. He mumbles alot, leaves his students completely confused. You learn on your own through the homework he assigns. The weekly quizzes are useless. This class can be taught by just powerpoints.
He's okay... Too much hw and essays. Take Meyers; he's much easier and less hw and essays.
This is one of the classes where you think you're doing good until the grades come out. I studied really hard, did every assignment, only to learn that I had a 79% in the class. And only did he round it up to the B after talking to him about it. If you take this, just study hard!
this professor was very rude...i emailed him to ask for help and he waas very rude...I was very suprised at this... i dont recommend his class
He is a great teacher, but I would suggest that you take his class in person, not online. He can be very slow to answer when using email.
thanks Professor didn't think i would be interested in econ at all; would def take related classes
He is awesome at teaching. He really knows his stuff and wants to help everybody else understand also. I don't know another teacer that gives you so many chances to make up assignments. He's very understanding and cares about each individual student. I would recommend him to all students.
I had a great time in Econ. Working with a group helps. If you are taking him in person, he wants you to participate. Grading is okay, just do the hw & take your time on them. Take good notes in class. Do the bonus work, that really helps too.
This teacher is very knowledgeable about the subject. You wouldn't be sorry if you took him.
I took the online section that was offered. You have a quiz every week due on Sunday by 10pm. You have like five group projects. If you have a good group then you do just fine. Go to the mandatory orientation, thats where groups are made. If you don't you have to scramble to find one. The midterms are online and easy.
Took it online. Pretty easy. Hard to find some answers in the book. Overall just take it if u want to pass.
Its very hard to pay attention but easiest class ever. Very Helpful professor
This teacher is very knowledgeable about the subject. Very helpful teacher you wouldn't be sorry if you took him
Class was fun, its easy just have to read the book and work on the hw which is online. Take this class if you want to pass.
I don't think he is as easy as every says he is--you do have to do more than just attend class. Every wk there is a quiz and discussion board (sometimes 2) and typically an in-class assignment/"quiz" @ end of class, which he often uses as attendance. 2 papers. Read book on your own. He's pretty funny. Recommend.
online, he's terrible with replying to emails. give him a week to reply. very reluctant to further explain anything. all he says is "refer to book, ppt, syllabus" online is easy if you rely 100% on the book...2 papers, midterms/final is the same as online quiz so just study the quiz you'll be fine!
He seems nice and knowledgeable. i'm taking his online section. For an online prof., he's TERRIBLE. I've taken many online classes and he's got to be the worst. so reluctant to help. all he says is "refer to syllabus, ppt, and assignments" which for the week quizzes they are helpful but any further questions you have he brushes you aside.
Nice professor. Class is easy if you read and pay attention, hard if you do not. He is very unorganized and will also appreciate students who participate in class. Nice professor, decent class.
The class is basically quizzes or "homework" every week. They are timed and you get only one shot at them, except for the first one. YOU NEED THE BOOK.The multiple choice midterm and final are based on theses weekly multiple choice HW assignments, so do them. Two papers, which he doesn't grade until the class is over (nerve racking)Do work early!!
Great teacher. He gives you every tool to succeed. Read the book, and read any assigned notes, powerpoints, and articles and you will do fine
He is very knowledge, kind professor. Class is fun. There is extra credit. I will take him next class because its worth. You are welcome for any Econ questions. Midterm and final tests are based on the quizzes, so do the quiz and review it, you will pass
He is a very entertaining, nice, and approachable professor. There is a lot of material to go over, but if you pay attention in class, ask questions, and read the textbook or go through the Powerpoints, you'll do just fine. There is only one midterm and one final along with various homework assignments and extra credit. Definitely take this class!
He's nice and funny. Definitely a lecturer. Quiz on D2L every week. You need the book. He really wants to teach you and is approachable.
Great professor! Extremely helpful and utilizes current and real life examples to help further along student understanding of course principles. Lectures are well structured. Classes were very entertaining and provided extra incentives for attendance with in-class "homework". I am looking forward to taking him for microeconomics this fall.
Very nice professor. He really wants you to learn and understand so you will do well in the class and in the future. If you do what he assigns which is weekly homework and online quiz plus a few other assignments you will pass the class.
He is a really good teacher that cares about his students doing well. The subject is hard, but he breaks it down in a way that's easy to remember. His tests aren't too hard and his projects are easy to do because he gives helpful templates. I recommend taking his class.
Professor Hoang is GOOD. He's fun and well respected by students. He's precise in teaching; he's there for students. For example, he reviewed the class materials before exams and in even during final. Take him. He's helpful. He will do all he can to not see his student repeat the CLASS!!! The quizzes come directly from the book/lectures/slides.
Don't let the language barrier fool you! Professor Hoang Nguyen is a funny teacher who grades very clearly and lectures are straight forward. I struggled with economics in high school but the way he teaches is simple, pragmatic, and easy to learn. Very little homework and he is an easy grader! Again, the only downside is a minor language barrier.
Easiest class I taken. Read ch, take quiz, and answer disc Q's. The midterm and final is a breeze if you read the chapters already. 1 five page paper at end of semester. I read every ch word for word then breeze through the class with a very high A. im pretty sure the class average was B+/A-. The only con is ch quiz and Disc Qs due every Saturday.
I dreaded going to his class but it's doable. It's extremely boring but the homework isn't too hard and group quizzes are a big part of his class. The midterm is online and the final is in class. Never read a page out of the textbook.
He makes it so easy to understand the materials coresponding to real life examples. It was a really fun and easy class. Hes actually a funny and caring proffesor. You need to read the book if you want to follow along his lecture better. I would definitely take him again!!
He definitely knows his subject. Participating in class, attendance and online discussions are a MUST to pass.
Took his Saturday class from 9am-12. He will literally waste your time. Lecture could be done within one hour but he chooses to talk on tangents for hours. Attendance and participation will drop your grade dramatically. Its an easy class with easy assignments just a lot of wasted time. And I feel grading on attendance and participation is unfair
Easy and decent professor overall but tedious, won't give a study guide for the final, will grade you down in participation even those who were active, and points get deducted with no explanation. Mostly uses the whiteboard and not the Powerpoints and will call on students at random often. Tons of quizzes but all are online except the final.
Had him for micro and macro econ. Nice guy, but the lectures were very long. Class was not too hard, he wants you to pass.
Nice Professor. Has an accent. Class attendance is mandatory and so is participation. Lectures can get boring at times. Sometimes has group discussions. Textbook is mandatory. Homework involves reading. Quizzes are all online. Midterm is online. Final is in-class. Learn how to Google and you'll pass the class.
Absolutely a joke. I have been emailing him for over 3 weeks now with just ONE response. If you have any questions or concerns, better off mailing him a letter to get a stupid response. I have emailed him every day for the past week. NO RESPONSE. A serious joke of a professor.
Grade is based mostly off of weekly quizzes. Textbook heavy, and while I wasn't able to make it to lectures because of scheduling, it didn't affect my grade. Takes forever to respond to emails but if you attend lecture I'm sure that won't be an issue. He did have a few "hidden" assignments that don't show up on calendar that can hurt your grade
Quiz and discussion every week. You have to have three separate posts on each discussion. NO LATE WORK. Doesn't answer emails.. at least not mine. Some non- weekly assignments/ quizzes. Midterm and final. Optional class on Saturday. Not too bad but if you just need an Econ class in general, I'd take ECON302 with Meyers at CRC.
There are no lectures so you really need to learn your stuff or you will have issues on the tests. The discussions are weighed pretty heavy, he expects a lot. The online discussions are not monitored and you never really know who is right. Assignment due date changes last minute - that caused some issues for me.
In general, the class is straight forward with discussion questions, weekly quizzes, and occasional additional assignments. However he takes weeks to respond to emails or doesnt respond at all, so you better hope he doesnt make a grading error. In terms of alternatives, I suggest taking economic 304 at another campus.
The coursework isn't bad nor is it rigorous. It's this dude that made my spring semester an absolute hell. -Doesn't answer emails. -Has hidden assignments that dropped my grade by over 30% at 3rd week. -Quizzes are riddled with errors. -Takes month(s) to grade (Not joking, still waiting on my final grade). Save yourself. Take another professor.
Prof. Nguyen is not qualified to teach online courses. He is very unorganized, gives out incorrect due dates & changes expectations at the last minute. He will not respond to emails, and if he decides to it will be at least 3+ weeks. Grading takes weeks. Pay close attention to due dates and make sure you do all discussion boards.
Literally the worst professor/instructor I've ever had in my academic career. My biggest complaint is the lack of communication and mistakes in the coursework. In addition, he takes a minimum of 2 weeks to grade anything. I'm still waiting on him to send my final grade to the admission office. Called him twice, no response. Just take someone else.
He is pretty chill, he has meetings weekly that you can join on zoom if you need extra help, he's here to help. If you've already taken econ before in high school then most of the material is quite familiar but you have to participate in weekly discussion boards.
I highly suggest choosing another economics professor. Professor Nguyen doesn't respond to any communication platform which is essential for online classes. The only time I had him respond to my emails was when I sent multiple follow-up emails regarding my questions through email. In addition, his responses to your questions are vague and unclear.
Prof.Nguyen went above and beyond college studentLRCCDstandardized expectations, respectively I would strongly avoid reading flaw distorted negative reviews and read textbook then conduct formal online research about assigned chapter topics. UtilizeCanvas Instructure and don't waste time on social media platforms. STUDY ONLINE FLASHCARDS AND VIDEOS!
Do yourself a favor and don't take this professor. He never responds to his emails, so good luck reaching him. It is unclear when his discussions are due since it doesn't show up on the to do list. If you miss the first day of class you will loose 50 points. Also he is not good at answering questions and just makes you more confused.
Very easy class, I took 302 and 304 at the same time and I finished with an A in both. All this class is weekly quizzes, MC mid term, and MC final. I never even did the discussion posts and I still finished with an A, Professor Nguyen responded to my email a week late but thats the only compaint
