The class itself was highly organized and easy to follow along. I found lectures to be very interesting and relevant. Teacher was always accessible. Homework not required but definitely helps to prepare for tests. Grading more than fair. Professor Moon is sincerely interested in his student?s success and I would highly recommend taking his courses.

Really difficult to understand and rude.Grades extremely hard and changes his rules.The day before the exam he said we would be allowed to use our calculators and not have to use the first step of a 2 formula problem, and the day of the exam he doesn't allow the calculator. Avoid him at all costs, I'm a senior and this was my last GE and it sucked

All the problems done in class were good examples. The textbook was easy to follow. Partial credit and curve is a good idea. The class was very fun.

I did not learn anything, but still passed 'cause he curved. He was very selective about helping (whether he likes you or not). Lectures were boring; just read AT LEAST 10 PAGES OF font-12 NOTES each time. His accent and improper comments of English made it even harder to understand. If you want just to pass, take him. STAT major? stay away!

This was a difficult class, but I really liked his willingness to meet with us to answer questions. I liked his teaching and explanations, and the lecture notes to follow along. It allowed me to just focus on understanding the notes rather than just copying it down. It is nice to have a professor who is concerned for you to succeed.

Loves to write notes. Puts them up for you to print. Then in class reads them to you. HW (for credit) is generally easy, but have nothing to do with tests. He's an easy grader as long as you stay on his good stide (plays favorites BIGTIME). Don't take Moon if you want to LEARN the subject you're studying, you won't. Good for the GPA though.

Well, I liked the class notes. They were extremely useful and well organized. All examples were useful. Dr. Moon was always friendly to answer my questions. To me, HW was extremely helpful to keep up with the current topics. I like his classes very much.

I'm sorry but Im only stating facts.You can't understand him,he can't explain himself, asking a question only makes it worse, really harsh on grading,no partial credit even though you barely got the answer wrong,never there on office hours. He's a nice guy &tries his best to make you pass but that doesnt exclude the fact that hes a horrible teacher

My experience was totally different. At the beginning, I was struggle, but he was very helpful to answer my questions. He was always avaialbe in everyday basis. I had improved a lot, and got A of course... Not easy, but extremely helpful for your next math class.

I would not recommend Dr. Moon at all. He was very difficult to understand and his tests were very difficult. It was pointless to ask questions because he had difficulty understanding what you were asking. Do all of the homework and work hard. He's a very nice professor, but he's is definitely hard to learn from.

I really enjoyed Dr. Moon's teaching. I liked how he helped every single student. I disliked the fact that the class was done in a lecture hall. It should be taught in a smaller classroom.

4 tests, each 25%, with notes. Homework is not mandatory, but in reality, it is if you don't want to retake the class. He didn't curve the grade until he saw how poorly everybody was doing (and many of them don't do the homework or read the book). He's a kind professor but expect to teach yourself. Don't forget to use the internet for help!

Nice teacher. Wants his students to do well. No group activities. His homework questions is what is on the quiz and also the midterms. He grades easy and curves like crazy. You could get a 55% in the class which counts actually as a C. Overall, I think he is a good professor. You just need to study and go to tutoring to do fine.

Take professor Moon for calculus. I thought I was going to fail his class but I actually passed with a C. Do the homework and you will be fine.He's the kindest guy I know. He smiles alot and it warms my heart. It also makes me sad because I don't want to disappoint him. Yet, he is so caring for a person like him. You won't regret taking this guy.

Good teacher, wasn't easy but it wasn't an easy subject to begin with. He's really helpful, he'll take time to help you walk through problems and hw. Hid weekly quizzes were decent, all examples from the hw. Take good notes, come to class, do the hw, and you should be fine.

This professor is so nice & lenient!! He'd replace your lowest quiz score w/ your attendance rate, he would replace a lot of low scores including exam scores.Quizzes are all from hw, make sure you do hw.Exams are fairly okay, just make sure you attend class and you'll be good. He is the nicest professor ever and I'd definitely take him again!!!!!!

Took this prof during the winter and it was a good experience. There are 3 tests and a quiz everyday. He started class 15 min late and 20 min early, his grades are 85 for an A 75 for a B etc. He is sometimes hard to hear but you get used to it. Tests and quizzes are straight out of the hw. Everything is cumulative so if you get a better grade on the later quiz hell match it. I ended the class with a 67 but managed to get a B. Definetly take this class!

I really liked this Professor. He really cares for his students and tries his best to help them as much as possible. He mainly is hard because he expects a lot from his students, and wants them to fully understand the subject that he is teaching.

Ultimately, you can do well in any math class by practicing a lot. He is willing to give you an incentive for doing so. Very helpful during office hours so take advantage! And the class have a extreme curve so you can breathe a little easier cuz of that. His accent is a bit thick so it may be difficult for some to understand.

I do not recommend this teacher. He is very hard to understand. He teaches way too fast. You must do your homework although he never checks. Quizzes once a week. Some of his quizzes are nearly impossible so are his test. He does curve a lot at the end of semester.

Practice the hw problems posted.If you don't understand a specific problem,ask in class,after class,or office hours.Attendance is MANDATORY=EC on quiz&FINAL!Really does care about his students and wants to help everyone to pass.No calculator to help students to be critical thinkers.This class helped me prepare for not just college but life itself!

Do Not SLACK off! Doing HW is not required but quizes are based on hw problems. Difficult but not impossible. Provides study guide for exams. %Attendence=points towards exams. Friendly, opened-minded and passionate to work with students. Good LUCK!

Dr.Moon i believe is the perfect professor. He does teach a bit fast, but it's not impossible. Even though the hw isnt mandatory, I advise you to do the hw because it helps on the exams and quizzes. He basically pulls problems out of the book & tweak em a bit. And class is never boring because he tries to make it entertaining by making small jokes.

Dr. Moon is a really kind and helpful professor! Truly unique and understandable teaching style, always follow his teaching and do the hw and you will pass the class. Extremely helpful during office hours for supplemental help with class work. Exams are difficult but after doing hw, you will do fine once you get the feel to solve math problems!

You are better off teaching your self. I seriously don't recommend this professor, I was not able to understand what he was saying most of the time. The one positive thing I can say about him is that at least he was an honest man.

I learnt a lot from this class. The first half we focused on survival analysis with R and the second half we focused on Longitudinal Data Analysis with SAS. Now, I am very confident with both R and SAS. I appreciate his efforts and energy that efficiently combined two important topics into 590. His guidance and direction were amazingly valuable

WINTER session was like a crash course, obviously it was gonna be hard. but im so glad i had him. although his Korean accent might be difficult to others, I understood everything. VERY helpful. emailed me back with feedback on my hw even though he was in&out of urgency care. posts "practice problems": WILL be on the tests. Tests everyday& 1 Final.

His quizzes are super easy. Tests, no so much. Many will disagree with me, but i think he's such a sweetheart. I went to his office hours a few times and it was easy to talk to him and he helped so much since his class was a huge lecture hall and was a bit difficult to understand the material. He's not the best teacher but he's not the worst.

Professor Moon looks for specific work in his exams. The curriculum itself is not difficult, but is presented in a manner where it can be confusing. However, this isn't a problem if you go to his office hours and do practice problems! He is very kind, patient, and helpful to all.

Amazing, nice, patient professor!! Statistics is not my forte and I am struggling, but Professor Moon is really patient and even slowed down and cut off 2 chapters for us. He really cares about us and tries to get to know us. He is very lenient on his grading and gives generous curves. The class is hard if stats is not your thing.

Dr. Moon tries his best to explain the topic and is answers questions that students make during lecture. He also welcomes and responds to questions sent via email. If you study, take good notes, and pay attention in class, you should be able to pass this class with an A. Students who don't pay attention are the ones who complain.

The professor is a very nice guy who tries to help you out if you need it and cares about your wellbeing. He gives students time to study if he feels that they are struggling and postpones tests. He curves tests. But he's disorganized, confusing in lectures, and tests are very hard. You have to self teach if you want to pass.

Dr. Moon is hilarious and nice. He mostly takes hw questions through email. Hw is optional, but quizzes are based off of it so it's recommended. Doesn't make you buy a textbook. Lectures can be long, miss class and you fall behind. A big curver on grades, has thick accent, goes really fast on lectures so make sure you pay attention and study oyo.

He's great with names. Going to class is MANDATORY because you're expected to solve probblems like the way he does in class. You do not need to buy a math book, and homework is not mandatory to do (But his quizzes and sometimes exams are based off of them, so if you do the hw, you have a better chance of doing well). Super helpful in office hours.

This class is hard! The only reason I got an A was because mostly everyone was failing and he curved it by that much so many could pass. I passed with a 64 %. I would advise you to take someone else, cause he is hard to understand during lectures but he is great one on one in office hours.

Professor Moon is not difficult, it's the criteria. He is a really good person, he tries to help you pass no matter what. It may be difficult to follow but he gives out so much work and changes the cut off grading sometimes it makes the class sorta easy to pass. I hate stats with a passion but I would definitely take the professor again.

Overall, Moon is a good professor. He definitely wants you to pass. He does curve your grade a lot so basically if you study, you may get at least B. HARDEST CLASS EVER. He lectures super fast and expects you to learn and understand, the material is hard as it is and he doesn't help much. Must purchase online book to do homework (homework is easy bc you can do it twice, best score is the grade). Gives you study guides but sometimes not at all like the test. Must come to class. Would not recommend, especially if you need at least a B in the class. The class is curved, however he changed the curve 3 days before grades were locked in and less than half the class got a B or higher. Test Averages were between 45-56% even after giving 2% extra credit for attendance on random days. HW did not help. Grading system very unclear.

Overall I liked professor moon's class. He was caring and taught us lots of materials. His lecture was clear and his generous office hours were very helpful. According to the posting on the BeachBoard, the final grade average was around 60, and more than 60% of students got B or higher.

This class was super fast-paced. Attendance is not mandatory, but he gives random extra credit for showing up on some days. I thought I was going to fail this class because my test average was probably around 30%, but with all the curves, I ended up with a B in the class.

Professor Moon really cares about his students. He offers extra credit onto test for showing up to class on random days. His whole class is based off using the TI-84 calculator. His test are really curved because the average is usually pretty low. Sometimes its a little hard to understand him. Homework isn't very helpful. May or may not need book.

He has high expectations or standards of your work. He led us our group project successful by providing smart planning and open communication. Personally, I learned a lot from his class, especially about generalized linear models. Dr. Moon told me today the drop out percentage was 28.6%, and one of them was due to work-related reason.

Dr. Moon was hard to understand, this was one of those classes where you had to teach yourself outside of class. He'd give extra credit to those who went to class on random days. Took his winter class for GE requirements. Professor Moon is a great person and he'll let you pass if you put efforts, attend lectures and do homework. He explains very well even if limited in time. However, exams are really hard.

This is quite possibly one of the worst classes I have ever taken. He is externally hard to understand, you have to teach yourself the information, and the tests are way harder than the homework/examples. He also has to curve the tests a lot because everyone fails them. I would recommend doing everything you can get a different professor!

This class was the worst. Extremely disorganized and was behind the whole semester and at the end we ended up having a take home test due and another test the same day and it was only a couple days before finals. No homework is graded which is nice, but it also would have been nice to have it graded and get more easy points in the class.

Overall, I enjoyed Prof. Moon's class. There are many negatives reviews about him but honestly if you do the work, you'll get an A in this class. Highly recommend to utilize his office hours. Tests are curved HEAVILY so you'll prob get an A or a B if you study and come to lectures. But you def. have to work for your A just like any other class.

I liked the fact that Prof Moon kept a Take-home exam for an extra credit opportunity instead of deleting the last exam. My score seems currently B range, but I hope I can get A from this class. I did pretty well take-home exam, so I am confident. I liked his teaching and his examples were very helpful to take exams. I recommend his class.

You don't really learn anything if you don't come to class or if you don't pay attention. The grading system is a bit confusing, but he curves the grades. Practice problems did not really help if you don't understand the material in time for the exams. He gives extra credit some days if you just show up. Homework didn't count since it's test heavy.

His lecture notes suck, they are from some textbook company and they do not help you grasp the criteria at all. The online assignments he posts have little correlation to what he tests us on. He told us to buy a $100 textbook that we never used. He was late all of the time. Changed grading criteria unexpectedly. I don't recommend.

Dr. Moon is a helpful, nice stats professor. Not gonna lie, this class was a struggle. It was hard learning wise, but he is a professor who will help you reach the grade you want, as long as you put in the work. Tests are VERY challenging, but they are graded on a heavy curve. An A is possible, as long as you don't mind putting in A LOT of effort.

Dr. Moon has such a great personality; however, you really have to pay attention to the examples in class and follow along carefully. You have to be prepared to work for your grade. Professor Moon is a funny teacher, but he goes over the material too quick. His lectures are helpful, but the sample problems on the lectures are off from the exam. Exams are very difficult, even though calculators are allowed to use. According to other reviews, he curves heavily but I haven't seen any curves yet.

Dr. Moon was very thoughtful from the beginning of the semester. He adopted sappling web tool for us to save our textbook. Textbook came with it and it was totally free. To pass with A, you need to study hard. His final review problems were very helpful to do well on the final. His extra credit for improvement was very helpful.

My final grade in the class was a B, but my percentage was a 57%. He curves heavily, so it's hard to fail. I failed every exam, but attended every class and still managed to pass the class. It's a hard subject, but as long as you show up and act like you know what you're doing, you should be fine.

I learnt lots of nonparametric statistical methods in biomedical applications in this class. This class was extremely helpful and I used bootstrapping methodologies at work. I highly recommend Dr. Moon's class.

Nothing personal against Moondawg, but his class was by far the worst class I've ever taken. His lectures are very confusing and unorganized. Whenever a student would ask him to clarify, he'd simply give a curt response or an explanation that confused students even more. Class test averages were typically 30-50%. 10/10 would not recommend.

I often stopped by Dr. Moon's office hours and asked questions that I didn't understand some review problems. He was extremely helpful and made things easy and clear. I recorded his class averages and it was 71 (exam1), 57 (exam 2), 56 (exam 3), 58 (exam 4) and 47 (final). I highly recommend to take his class.

Don't let these other reviews get the best of you, if you've had some experience with stats in high school, it's just almost like a review, but more in depth. Tests are a bit difficult, but if you attend lectures ALL THE TIME, go to office hours and DO YOUR HOMEWORK, you will be fine. He does curve your grades and gives extra credit in lectures.

This professor does NOT care about his student's success. We had 3 exams before the final. The first 2 exams he provided a study guide, but the average on those exams were not good (about 50% and 35%). So Moon decides not to provide one for the 3rd exam. The average on that exam was about 25%. The average on the final was less than 15%. AVOID HIM!

Dr. Moon focused on theory and R programming. I enjoyed hands on exercises using R in class. Dr. Moon picked up important topics from the Efrons book. If you want to seriously learn R, take Dr. Moons class and enjoy.

I took Dr. Moon's class in Fall 2017, and I got A. I wanted to share how you may be successful in his class. I asked unclear problems in his office hours. So, I met him twice a week for questions. I exercised chapter end problems and asked questions if I couldn't solve. Dr. Moon wrote exam questions based on chapter end problems.

Dr. Moon's lecture is the most effective and concise. His homework is only to decide the percentage of extra credit. This class has lots of extra credit opportunities that I like the most. His exam is based on the practice exam he provided. I am told that Dr. Moon's grading scheme is generous.

This professor is not worth listening to since it's he's almost impossible to understand. His exams are ridiculously difficult and the practice exams he gives out doesn't even help you on the quiz since the concepts are very different. He rushes through the lectures and makes mistakes so often on the examples that students had to correct him.

Statistics is a very difficult course, people give up halfway through class and leave. Not everyone is going to pass this class it is extremely difficult. Dr. Moon moves very fast and its up to the student to stay on task. As long as you go to class, participate, do the homework (extra credit), and STUDY aka work for the A, you will be fine!

Very difficult class but doable. He is very unclear when lecturing in class because he jumps around. However, he is very helpful during office hours. Grading is based on only 4 tests which are extremely difficult. If you're willing to go to office hours, he will tell you what types of questions will be on the test and how to solve them. Sweet guy!

Dr. Moon gives vague lectures, however, if you go to his office hours, he will explain concepts in more depth. There are 3 exams and 1 final and there is extra credit to boost the test grades. His class is difficult and only 20 people usually get A's. He was caring, but I still wouldn't take it again.

Try his office hours. His explanation clears everything out. He always respects your visit, so don't worry. His exam is right off from the review problems and lecture examples. In the final exam, we had two problems that were exactly the same as his review problems. If you honestly worked hard, you have no problem to pass his class.

He is a wonderful professor and he is always available to help during his office hours. Extra credit is given based on hw grade and it will only be given to you when you improve on the next test. To get an A: study a lot, ask questions, solve and study the study guide problems, do hw diligently, sit in the front, and seek tutoring for help. Gluck!

Sweetest guy ever! Helpful if you ask questions and go to office hours. He answered my constant emails with questions pretty immediately. 3 exams with 1 final, study guides were provided and exam keys were posted after. Utilize these study tool and do (w/ accuracy) as much homework as possible because he counts that as extra credit.

His curriculum and lectures are pretty disorganized. We jumped from one part of the textbook to a whole other part within a span of 2 weeks; it was really confusing. I had to read the textbook multiple times to understand the concepts. Go to class; he collects our names for extra credit sometimes and he basically works on test questions in class.

Very nice professor, but lectures can get very confusing. If you go to his office hours for help on homework and tests he'll guide you through it! He also considers your effort in grading if you go to his office hours. I really do like him as a person, but his way of teaching made statistics hard to understand for me and a few other people I know.

I loved Dr. Moon! His lecture can be confusing, but if you go to his office hours, he explains it well! He's really nice and is willing to help his students. If you work hard enough, you will be fine. I was struggling in the beginning, but ended up with an A, so if I can do it, so can you!

Whole grade is based on 3 exams and a final. Only professor I would really not recommend, he does curve a lot because half the class fails exams which is nice but still wouldnt take him again. Rushes through lectures and I never really learned anything. You have to teach yourself the material. I recommend not skipping or youll stay behind.

Do yourself a favor and do not take him.... honestly dont. He doesnt explain at all, you basically have to teach yourself half of the class dropped him when I took him. Class is based on four exams which are very difficult.

hard class! if you get an average of 80 on the hw, he uses it as extra credit on tests as long as you get a higher test grade than the previous one. The curve is really high because a lot of people fail his tests. really nice professor but doesn't explain very clearly and his tests are really hard (about 4-7 questions and out of about 100 points)

He was hard to understand, talked very quietly for a class of over 100 students. His letures were very disorganized, so the way he taught made everything more confusing than it should be. I had to end up teaching myself everything or asking other students in the class (who also taught themselves). From what I heard, a lot of better Stat professors.

Very disorganized you need to basically teach yourself but he does curve a lot to make up for it. Although he curves an insane amount I would recommend saving your stress by not taking him. Homework is extra credit and grade is based on 4 exams including the final.

He's there for you when you need help. His lectures are very scattered and it was hard to follow sometimes. His lectures are the study guides for his four exams, which are cumulative. Online homework is optional but he does this thing where if you get a good score on all the homework, he'll replace your bad exam score with your highest one. Study.

I rated Dr. Moon high. I was lost in the middle of the semester, but i was able to catch up because of his help. Use his office hours as much as you can. Exams were based on sample exams.

He sometimes gives extra credit just for being there. Also doing all the hw will boost your grade a little. However, the exams were really difficult. Go to office hours! Make friends that you can study & do hw with. He usually does problems in class. Also, the exams are cumulative, which made it harder. The class structure wasn't organized well imo

Professor Hojin Moon for MATH 123 is not good. He knows the material, but just can't teach it to his students. Tests are similar to questions to the homework. His lectures are awful he jumps from one thing to another and when it comes to the homework you're left teaching yourself how to do it. Anyone who plans on taking Calc 2 stay away from Moon!

If you must take STATS108, do not, I repeat, DO NOT take Moon. He is a terrible teacher and his lectures are all over the place. Very hard to follow and the homework is no help for the exams. He had to curve our grades so that a 70% was an A because of how bad everyone performed due to his incompetence. DO NOT take him.

DO NOT TAKE MOON. He's the reason why I couldn't continue in the nursing program. Class averages are EXTREMELY LOW, from 30-50%, he said so himself. It's hard to understand his accent and when he lectures, he is super unclear and assumes students automatically know how to solve problems. He does not know how to teach at all.

DONT TAKE HIM! I took BioCalc before taking his class so I was familiar with some topics but I still did bad. He doesn't explain the concepts well AT ALL and I had to watch videos to learn. He goes over tons of examples really fast which makes it hard to understand every step of each problem. Also tests don't match the hw. I did take it online tho

I enjoyed Dr. Moon's class. He was very clear on his lectures and solved lots of problems from exercises. It was greatly helpful for doing homework. His exams were more difficult than homework problems. Lots of extra credit opportunities including make-up exams! He was very helpful to answer many of my questions. Great teacher!

Well educated and intelligent teacher, but he really has no idea how to teach or prepare his students. His midterms and final have little to no correlation with his lectures and usually include material that was not mentioned clearly in the textbook or class. He gives pretty generous curves at the end of the term tho.

Dr. Moon is very kind and understanding. If you don't understand something, then go to office hours. Like anything else in life, you have to work hard to earn it. Take notes, study them, and do practice problems. Sometimes, he'll have problems he did during class on the exam to reward those who pay attention and stay on top of their studies.

He is the worst stat professor ever! His lectures and tests are not correlated to each other! Super boring, monotone lecturer! Almost half the class did very bad on the exams, so he has to curve the final grade! I dont recommend this professor!

There is no doubt that Dr. Moon is a smart man, but he is NOT a good professor by any means. His grading criteria were unclear, and you go through the whole semester not knowing what you have. He assigns too much WebAssign homework, and he does not give any feedback after exams and projects. Save yourself the stress and trouble and avoid him.

Professor Moon wasn't a very effective teacher. He mostly solved random practice problems with no explanation to what was going on. He seemed annoyed at any questions. Claimed we'd have E.C. opportunities weekly, only did it 4 times. Only upside is the forgiving curve and no assigned homework (you will work independently if you want to pass though)

Quality professor, would highly recommend. You do lots of practice problems and the tests are based off of the homework so as long as you do it you should be fine. His tests also have a heavy curve that will help a lot. He is also very helpful after class.

He was okay, I'm sure he's a good guy outside of academics but when he goes over topics, he doesn't explain well. I heavily recommend going to his office hours, he's helpful but lectures are not enough to understand. Quizzes are based from the homework questions so especially do your best on them. Maybe consider him if there's no other choice.

Lectures were hard to understand. He doesn't explain concepts very well and would rather go straight to solving problems from the textbook with minimal explanation. He often skips steps and assumes students are able to follow and know everything. Lectures are definitely not enough to understand the material.

He seems like he was a very smart student, but then the way he learned, seems to be the way he is teaching. He just reads off the slides. Take this as you will, his class made me study better. The exams were graded very fairly, and he gives you points for trying. The exams are based on the homework, SO DO YOUR HOMEWORK! He is nice, and extends hw.

Do not take him for your own sanity. He is a good and kind person, however he does not have passion or any care when it comes to his Calc 2 class. All we did in class was watch youtube videos, tests are based exactly from homework, only grades that matter being the exam scores. exams scores with 30%+ were considered a C which speaks for itself

Do not take Dr. Moon's Calc II class. He is a nice guy but he puts literally no effort into teaching. We watched youtube videos from a channel called "math with professor v" every class and the most he did was pause the video to repeat the problems himself and answer questions. I did not actually learn anything from him directly.
