Excellent teacher, though not the easiest. The class is basically reading a short story and writing a "response paper" each week, plus a final paper at the end. She very genuinely cares about her students improving their writing, and understanding and enjoying the material. Very strict attendance policy though, and you will have to show effort.

Great teacher, even though english is such a monotonous course unless your majoring in it; you will learn a lot of life lessons. Attendance is mandatory, but I can almost guarantee you'll enjoy the class. Just remember to do the work and you'll be fine, I promise.

Very friendly teacher, although she does expect students to put in the work. If you do not show up to classes, you not only would fail, but she drops you from the course if you miss 3 classes. Quizzes on the readings every class, but aren't hard if you just skim through them. Turns english from monotony to something to be excited about.

She's really sweet and there to help if you need it. Show initiative and she'll be more than glad to help. A lot of peer work with papers which actually helps. Quizzes every class, just read the stories and you'll be fine. She wants her students to do well. Great teacher!

Professor Abbe is the most helpful professors at Nova. If you take her class be ready to read a story before every class. Her class is not about giving lectures but to actually learn something through activities. She is the sweetest proffesors at nova. A little bit strict about attendence. You only get 2 off days. Professor Abbe is the sweetest lady ever, I loved being in her class! She assigned daily readings as homework and gave a quiz at the beginning of class on them, so make sure to read! If you turn in your work on time and try your best, you'll get a A or B easily. Make sure to attend class too, she is really picky about attendance!

I took her hybrid ENG 111 course. Easiest class I've taken. Attendance is mandatory, but in the hybrid course you only need to show up once a week for an hour, so I'm not complaining.

Professor Abbe was an amazing professor. She will give you feedback and is quite easy to reach if you do need help. She's kind and funny but you can't miss class and it's pretty tough to turn things in late. I would take her as a professor over and over again. :)

Professor Abbe is tough but fair, my class met once per week so we did have a lot of homework and online work to do. Be ready to write essays, and read. But this is a very good class as long as you keep up the work and make it to class on time.

Amazing Professor. She is super clear, and it really seems as though she cares about her students. She is super sweet and wants you to succeed. Homework isn't hard, just reading and a usually short writing assignment that is interesting. She makes the assignment clear as well and is always available to help. Would definitely take again!

Easy to pass class with a twist--you have to show up to class because she will fail you if you miss classes. Otherwise, she is a caring professor who wants to see you become better. Other than that, there are a wide variety of assignments. Most are short essay/paragraph, short presentation, and fun discussions. Only 2 or 3 major assignments.

Professor Abbe's class has been my favorite NOVA course to date. She incorporates lots of in-class discussion, clearly lays out her expectations for assignments, and shows up for every class bursting with enthusiasm. I wish she taught more classes!

She is very specific about her requirements but she explains them thoroughly and if you follow them, you should be fine. Don't skip class! She also chose very interesting themes during the semester

One of the nicest and more caring professors I've ever had! She honestly made me want to switch to an English major every time I sat in her class. Only downside was that if you missed 3 classes you were dropped from the course, but it was a hybrid so we did only show up once a week. Good thing was was that no one wanted to skip!

show up every class and participate and this wont feel like a class, but a hangout with friends as you talk and learn about literature. sounds stupid now, but you will make new friends in class as well as with the professor. You will learn something, and you might even enjoy some of the stories talked about in class. would take again!

She's a stickler for attendance. You couldn't miss any class and would miss the quiz points if you came late. Doesn't accept makeups and late work is 0. Makes class fun with various activities for points. Provides clear expectations. Expects excellence from day 1 but helps you grow as a writer. Lots of group work. Follow her rules and you'll pass.

Professor Abbe is a good professor. She goes over step by step for her assignments. She does have a strict attendance policy. If you skip class a lot, I would not take her. She doesn't offer extra credit opportunities which I wish she did. She is a good professor overall.

I take Professor Abbes ENG-111 hybrid and its been one of the best experiences Ive had with a professor yet. Shes very strict when it comes to attendance and late work but she makes sure everyone knows whats expected of them on day 1. She also gives great feedback so that we all have a chance to excel. I took her online ENG 112 course and although I never met her personally, I can tell she cares about her students success. She gives amazing feedback and responds incredibly fast to any concerns. She cares about you understanding the topic rather than grammar. She isnt a tough grader but is strict about deadlines. Easy A if you put some effort in.

Professor Abbe is the best professor I've had. Participating and showing up in class you will get an A. With every single assignment she graded, she provided helpful feedback. The student that said she kept putting her political views is wrong. We had a compare and contrast essay with the election. The point of the essay is NOT to be biased.

Professor Holly was my first online English teacher. I did not know what to expect when I was coming into her class. However, I would not want any other teacher because Professor Holly is caring, inspirational, and flexible. Professor Holly truly understands the struggles of first-year students, especially during the Covid-19 Pandemic.

The class overall is not hard, but once an assignment is past the due date, Prof. Abbe will automatically assign a 0. You will have one "phoenix pass" to use for a 3 day extension, but every other assignment needs to be submitted on time or you may as well not bother with the work.

Take this class!!! Professor Abbe is very understanding. Her class is very mind-opening and helps bring perspective of issues people in the US and issues people around the are facing. Phones must be shut off in class but because her classes are so interesting, it isn't an issue. There is homework every week, but is extremely doable and easy.

There is a quiz in the beginning of every class referring to an article or book that she assigned the previous week and it is timed so if you are not in class at the start you can not retake the quiz. There were only two papers that were not hard. She is very nice and the class is not hard.

She picks books that are enjoyable and fun to read. I am very much a person that would rather watch a movie rather then read the book but she made it fun to read the books. There are quizzes every class on the book you are reading so it forces you to keep up on the reading. She was very flexible with my class over which books to read.

Professor Abbe is so nice&caring. She really cares about what she teaches&she is progressive about showing her students the impact&importance of children's literature. You will have readings before each class and a quiz on them. She does fun projects for the end of each unit. There isn't a huge workload which is why participation matters so much.

Amazing professor! Classes were engaging and I actually enjoyed going to this class, it was reminding you what it was like being a child. The only bad part I guess is that you have to read a lot but then again it could be worse.
