Overall a decent instructor. Some problems on exams I thought were rather unfair.

very nice and helpful
I believe this instructor failed indistinctly to properly teach a college course. Unsuccessful examples, not great with help, nor time consumed to cover class material. Good luck but do not recommend.
Seemed to be bothered by student's questions, rushed through lessons, and did not explain material well.
She obviously loves trig and it shows in her teaching. I learned a ton. She doesn’t take nonsense from any of the students so don’t expect her to cut you some slack. I would definitely take a class from her again.
not very helpfull, seems to not realy interested in teaching. seems to be off in another world. uses bad examples an dwatch out for her extremely corny stories that have absolutely nothing to do with material. other then that...
baaaad teacher
She is not a good teach. She doesn't explain how a problem is done. Expects you to learn everything so fast. Makes rude comments to students.
She works at a pace of people who go to Harvard. She has unnecessary side comments that are irrelevant. If you cant figure out 3xy*8yz(z)=4(2xy>3/4) the second day you will not do well with this teacher
Not clear, seemed unhappy to answer questions. She became upset when you would ask her to do her job... Teach.
Goes fast and trys to make the class funny. Shes a good person, shes not mean or anything. If your not good at math dont take her.
Goes too fast and grades way too hard. No partial points. Is nice in person, but if you are not good in math... don't take her. The material she goes over will be in the her tests the exact way you saw it in class and that's a good thing.
I don't know why people hate her. I thought she was pretty funny and I had an easy time with this class. I got an A and barely tried. If you do the homework, you can't go wrong. She answers any question you ask, and she'll explain things as many times as you need. She's really nice.
She's great; a good sense of humor. I'm terrible at math and got A's in both classes with her. Just try hard and if you don't get the material, ASK HER!
I took three math classes with this teacher. She is very helpful, and in some cases she is very funny. Her “side comments” seem to be meant for comic relief and in most cases it works. She seems to be willing to work with you and if she cannot help, due to time and/or other factors, the math department is ready and willing. Over all I think she is
Didn't seem like she wanted to be there.
Make sure you know your algebra before you take this class. She's a good teacher, moves a little fast, but overall she tought very well. She gives you many chances to get your grade higher with homework and quizes and bonus questions on tests that you get to take home. Good teacher.
Holly is a great teacher! She gets to know you at a personal level. She is soo helpful when you need help. She is very fast pace. You can NOT fall behind in her class because if you do its hard to catch back up
She is a great teacher and is VERY willing to help you out. THis is not an easy class but if you stay on top of things you will be fine. She really goes the extra mile for those students that come to her for help
Not very helpful in answers questions related to grades. Not accurate in grading scale, seen different grading for different people. When asked about the reason my scores were different or just how many points each were worth she expalined to me she did not have her key in front of her. Just simply not consistent.
Teacher belittles class if there is not enough discussion (mainly because she makes you feel stupid if you have a question). Teacher makes no time to work with students during office hours. Sits and gives you the quientessential, "why the hell are you here during my office/break time?" face.
SHE IS TO FAST MAKES YOU FEEL STUPID WHEN YOU ASK QUESTIONS AND DOSE NOT ANSER QUESTIONS THAT SHE DOSE NOT LIKE.

Makes rude comments to students and makes you feel stupid for asking questions. Goes too fast and is too lazy to make a review sheets for tests. The only reason you get one on the final exam is because the math department made it. "You should of known that." "Thats not my problem." "Thats my problem not yours." Blah blah blah.
Couldn't care less if you are trying your dam&dest to pass. Also...do not, and I repeat DO NOT attempt to see this woman during office hours. She will just stare at you as if to say, "Why the hell are you here? Can't you see I'm hiding from student?" Failed it and have lowered my 4.0 GPA. AARRGHH!!! Have to re-take due to my grad requirements.
I took her during the spring semester, so missing a class meant missing a lot of info, but she was really helpful with the material she was teaching. She gave a lot of hand outs and used the book for reinforcement. As long as you pay attention and do the hand outs you will get a good grade.
Blows through things, expects you to instantly absorb whatever she spews out.Makes you feel stupid if you don't instantly understand.Goes off topic.Does give opportunities for extra points.Gives lectures before a test, definitely a motivation killer. If there is a question she doesn't know the answer to, it's not her problem.
Pleasant person, but is kinda annoying at times. Shes a good teacher though. Shes all hands on, hardly any real notes and lectures. Just basically. HERES a problem, this is how you do it. Hard for people, but that just happens to work for me.
Horrible teacher, goes really fast and seems like she could care less about the class. Would never reccomend her to anyone.
Good teacher, not lazy at all because she works hard in class. She is always making exercises and answer any question. Yes, it is a lot of content and she teaches it fast. But she is fair and I learned a lot.
There are an overwhelming amount of trig questions on her exams and you will need double the time to complete it than what is provided. Math is my forte' and failed my last test. She is very angry and this shows thru her teaching. Avoid her unless you are going thru trig a second time, in which case you might succeed anyways.
In her mind, the world is against this woman... But she is on to them. <br>Besides her whiny stories, she isn't a bad teacher.
She's boring, angry, unhappy, ornary (sp?). You WON'T finish loonnnng tests. She cares about one thing: getting paid and it shows. Be prepared to read the book like a novel if you want to just break even in this class. Use the math lab. And yes you'll need the study guide too.
Goes thru material way to fast. Exams too long. Even the best students can't finish on time. Not supportive. She is your opponent in the game of Trig and she'll win. I scraped and clawed my way to a B and am a 4.0 student. Negative, desrespectful. Should look at student success and then look in the mirror. Would be more fair if graded on a curve.
Prof makes class very difficult, goes through things too fast for most students, no study guide for exam, very little ex. credit, homework problems often stump tutors in math lab, doesn't cut anyone any breaks. Basically, DON'T TAKE THIS PROFESSOR'S CLASSES... There are other math profs at this college that are much better and easier on students.
I had to take the class twice because her grading and tests are completely unfair. NEVER go to her office to ask for help she makes you feel like an idiot for even asking a question. The second time i took the class she got my grade wrong online (marked it as a D) and it would've never been changed to the right grade if i didnt save all my work
Her teachings weren't compatable with the book.. it was hard to do homework when the book is telling me to do it a different way. i ended up having to drop the class half way through
Easy class although if you haven't had math you will struggle. Fast paced but, that is what college level pre-calc is. Doesn't care if you don't come that being said, isn't sympathetic if you do badly. Answered 2 to 3 of my questions every class period. Does not tolerate texting and talking it makes her angry and she will call you out.
She may be tough but that is what you support to go to school. I saw everyone complain a lot about her but I think just because they don't put effort to study. I took her class 2 semester already and always searching for her classes for next level
Took her a few years ago and honestly, she's plain miserable. She blames the students for all of her life problems, shes' incapable of teaching and insists on demeaning her students. Not our fault she'll be at OCC rotting.
Broesamle is a tough teacher. I like the fact that she does not tolerate cheating, texting or talking during lecture. She will answer a handful of questions (quickly) and moves through new material at lightning pace. Her exams are difficult at best, even if you do the homework. If you are not math savvy, think twice about taking this class.
ONLY take her if you are good at math and can teach yourself. If you cannot, other AH OCC teachers is your best option. Unfair grading. Does not help much. Flies through material. Very rude.
Deducted points where it wasn't needed. Makes excuses, and doesn't even apologize. I'm glad I got a D in her Trig Class, but placed into Calculus through the compass test. Don't take her unless you have to.
I LOVED HER, she was hard but if you showed her you tried to get good grades, showed up to class, and did the homework she gave you good grades. very helpful during office hours. you do need to work hard and focus though to get a good grade but she is an awesome teacher. if you need help ask IMMEDIATLY
Holly is a great teacher she knows her math and makes learning easy. She is tough but if you act like a grown-up and attend class, you will do great. She has to stop lecture to tell people to get off their phones but if you can focus and take notes you will love her!
Great teacher, had an A going into final, but had to study for physics instead. Lets you know exactly what she wants. Made a super hard class very easy
Do not miss a class and let Holly know who you are and dont get behind. She teaches perfectly, so if you miss you have to learn the material on your own. I got a B+ when I F the first test. I showed up everyday and showed improvement. Good teacher for math.
Mrs. Broesamle Is a really good math professor. Especially If you are not a math person and you need a good math instructor, I highly advise you take her.She has her days where she can be moody and kind of mean but Its worth dealing with cause she's a good instructor.
Broesamle is a great math professor. I had her for my first math class which was college algebra. Prior to college I had little interest in math and wasn't very good at it. Broesamle is a very straight forward and to-the-point teacher, and she gives great homework. Apply your mind while in class and do the homework and you'll do just fine.
AMAZING teacher! I failed math in high school and have not taken a math class for 5 years. I loved her class because I understood the material and loved the way she presented it. She assigns homework every night although does not correct most of it. (I would still advise you do it, it is never a lot and I believe it is what helped me)
This professor breaks everything down for you to fully understand. The only 4 things you need to know are: 1.Come to class 2.Do your homework (even if you don’t get credit) 3.Turn off your cell before EVERY class 4.Google if you didn’t understand something in class If you can’t do those things, you don’t belong in college.
A fantastic professor! I took her for elementary and intermediate algebra. Although the summer semester goes by quick she makes sure that you understand the material. I highly recommend her and drove 45 minutes out of my way just to come to her class.
She is a good teacher, but she is old school. She is one way. Her grading on the other hand is poor. If you get a test question right but you don't solve it her way than you practically get ll points taken off. She is a good teacher but strict.
Her notes are completely unorganized. Most of her notes are used on worksheet hand outs. If you are someone that likes to see the step by step DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS WITH HER. She often uses the term "lets use our brains here folks" which for me I really don't like the degrading comments when a student had a question that was simple to her.
She is FANTASTIC! I took her for both Elementary and Intermediate Algebra. With math as my worst subject, I was quite nervous, but Ms. Broesamle was very clear in her teaching and was more than willing to repeat herself and do examples. As long as you are willing to actually raise your hand and ask questions, you'll find her helpful.
Holly is a terrible teacher. Her tests are nothing like the homework. She will throw out problems that you may have never seen before. Do not take this teacher!!! She does not let you drop any tests. Even though no one passed one of her tests in my class she didn't curve or let us drop a test. Horrible experience for my whole class.
Tough but Fair. Fun to be in class with her, funny. Always helped when asked. Lots of work, but needed to succeed in class. Good teacher, I will take her again if she teaches the classes I need and when.I Repeat had to work hard but learned a lot.
She is probably the best math teacher I've had. I've never been a math person or a test taker, but she got me to at least understand the concepts. In the end, i didn't do so well on the tests because she wouldn't post the answer keys to the HW until after the test. So it was difficult to know you were doing the problems right until after the test.
I would not recommend. She flies through new material and her notes are mainly just homework questions. I loved and understand math very quickly up until her class. I am now struggling and on the verge of tears after every class.
A 3 credit class but enough work that it should have been worth double. Thank goodness for the SI Instructor, without her I would not have done well. She seems enjoys watching her students struggle, in her opinion students averaging 70% on a test is good. I managed to get an A, but it took a ton of work and studying! I would not recommend her.
Holly is a great teacher and a fair grader (she gives partial credit). She doesn't micromanage her students. Not a ton of grades. People complaining about failing probably didn't keep up with the book work, which isn't her problem. She'll give you help where you need it but also expects that you take your own initiative and improve.
One of the best math teachers i've ever had. She's cool, relaxed, and knows how to explain things in an understandable way. Most homework is optional, meaning tests are worth more of your grade so you must understand the material to get a good grade. One complaint is she sometimes moves too fast, but I will definitely take her again.
She's a great teacher, she explains the main points to help you understand the concept of the work, and slowly defines the finer details needed to completely understand the work throughout her lectures. The homework is handpicked to maximize your learning, and it helps that she teaches directly from the homework, so there are no curveballs on tests
This teacher either goes really slowly or goes really fast. The tests she writes are insanely confusing and hard, even if you know the material. What she tells you will be on the test might be true or it might be a lie. Also, you won't be able to check your grade because she doesn't calculate your grades until the end of the year.
Mrs. Broesamle is an awesome teacher. Currently taking her for Differential Equations and she is wonderful. Her notes are very good along with her Exams. I think her exams are very easy and doable if you do your homework and assignment. Defiantly take her!
My only complaint is how fast pace her lectures are. She has very clear grading scale, uses MyMathLab & gives homework. Posts all test/quiz/homework keys online (very helpful) but her handwriting is pretty bad- can be hard to make some things out. I did poorly because I did not put in the effort required & missed a few lectures. Would take again.
Professor is good. Tries to make it comfortable to ask questions in class. Always ready to help, and gives homework daily. Breaks information down and always says how it can be solved in multiple ways. Explains Clearly and Breaks information down. Take Her!
She is impossible to talk to and does not care how her students are doing.
Best professor I have ever taken. She is very fair, you get what you deserve. Everything you need to study for tests is clearly laid out. Homework is 25% of the grade so just do it and it will boost your grade and you wont need to study as hard for the exams. 10/10 would take again. I wish she taught at OU
Lectures are fast paced and she won't go back and explain anything a second time if you don't get it. Refuses to help students in class with questions on the notes. Marks you down if you do not do the work using her method & showing every single step. Tests are short and each question is worth a lot!
Pros: What you need to do is clearly laid out. Gives solid feedback. Confident speaker. Cons: Covers the material fast and does not go back. Often does not explain how she solves problems. EXTREMELY time intensive classes for HW/Studying.
The worst teacher I've ever had in my life. She goes way too fast in her lectures and has curt responses to questions she doesn't like making her very unapproachable. Seemed to be more fair and nice to girls more so then guys. I urge you not to take this professor, she is by far the most rude and difficult professor at OCC.
Very tough grader, no partial credit whatsoever! Very rude and unapproachable, covers too much material in a short aount of time without stopping for explanations. She makes you feel stupid when asking a question, Would not recommend her to my worst enemy...
Everyone on here makes her seem like shes terrible... she really isnt. If you take this class at night you never stay the whole time, shes a fair grader, the homework gives pretty good cushion. only problem is sometimes when you ask questions to be done from the book she can get a bit snappy. Other than that i think shes good!
She was a very organized teacher and everything was very specific and laid out nicely. On the terms of her teaching, she was not very good. Every week you had to do hours of homework which you wouldn't know how to do from her in class notes, eventually forcing me to teach myself. Her tests and assigned homework are hard and there is no guidelines.
I love her classes. She helps with homework and answers questions about problems on assignments and exams, and is always willing to walk someone through a problem. A LOT of material is covered in class, but she doesn't let anyone walk away confused. Decent amount of hw, but the exams aren't any harder. Plenty of extra credit ops.
She's a great teacher. She walks you through the lectures at a pace that feels like you can pick up on it. She does not leave you in the dust if you have questions or concerns, she is a helpful teacher. I was afraid to take her class because of the prior ratings, but seriously, you will enjoy her, even if you are not the best at math.
Never posted any grades anywhere, so you never knew what or how things were being graded.
Holly is a great person, she works hard and has her students best interests. The downfall is her teaching attitudeShe talks and instructs faster than a bullettrain and wont reteach any material you missed. Shes really bullheaded, and i regret spending a semester with her. I dropped my class because i cant learn if i cant keep up with her fast pace
Professor Broesamle is a really good teacher. If you show up everyday, You will learn a lot of the material in class. You have to study hard. I was doing about a class length worth of studying outside class. Calculus 2 is hard, but she broke it down into these handouts which counted as homework. I would then study these before every test. Did fine.
Excellent teacher. Calc 2 isn't an easy class but she does everything she can to make it less painful if you put in the effort. Weekly homework assignments are effective and help to study for tests (textbook problems are also important but not graded). Tests were not too long and she is pretty generous with partial credit. Wish she taught Calc 3.
Faster than a bullet train was a great analogy! Being that said, I really enjoyed the class overall. There is homework that is not graded, about 12 graded assignments (some on D2L). There are plenty of helpful handouts that she goes over in class. Plenty of extra credit and opportunities to bring your grade up. If your struggling go to mathlab.
Shes a very nice lady but shes a very tough grader; she really makes you work hard to get the grade you want. Her tests are really tough; you really have to study hard and everywhere in order to do good on the tests. I really like her the way she teaches. Yeah, shes a very fast but she would repeat anything you ask for. Overall shes just fine.
Very kind, and if you pay attention, you will Do well
She's gives plenty of extra credit on tests that you can do at home. It's enough that if you do poorly on a test you can still bring your grade up. She can be intimidating, but she is willing to help anyone that asks. I did not think her tests were that hard. Homework worth 25%. SI was great at letting you know what to expect on the test.
The reviews on here are right, she instructs incredibly fast. And she's kind of intimidating, I don't think she even realizes how much. Very no nonsense and straight to the point. You will have to put in a decent amount of work if you want to do well
Very no non-sense & to the point, comes off intimidating. Beware, she does instruct fast so if you are having trouble, just let her know and she will slow down and repeat. She is always nice and willing to help you if you need. She never seemed intimidating when I had to ask a question, so don't be afraid to ask her if you need help
I wont lie, she instructs very fast. If youre taking this class in the summer beware, its a lot of material to learn and often hard to keep up. Make sure to ask her if you have questions or need help. No study guides for tests but if you study the homework assignments that usually helps. Toughest class of the year so far
Please trust me when I say this, do not take this professors class. I have always done well in math throughout highschool and college, Im even an Engineer major because I truly enjoy math; yet, Broesalme has made it incredibly difficult to learn. The only way I'm remotely hanging in there is because I'm teaching the material to myself after class.
She does move quickly, but she teaches in a way that makes it easy to understand and remember. She assigns a lot of homework from the book for practice, but you don't have to turn in any of it, only handouts she makes herself. She also makes handouts that are more helpful at explaining concepts than the book. Very enjoyable!
She doesnt care about you or your grade as long is she is talking she thinks she is teaching. Expects everyone to be amazing at math. Do not take her if you arent a wizard with math.
Here's the thing, as a person she's nice and has a good heart. But as a teacher, she doesn't actually you know TEACH. Her lectures go so insanely fast and she has awful handwriting, you can't tell what she put down which is a nightmare for math. I can't say what she's like in other math classes but for Trigonometry(1560) avoid taking the class.
I don't get the hate. Great teacher! If you think there's too much homework, welcome to math! Most math classes you have to do homework to pass. She can go fast at times but her notes are very thorough. She does what most math teachers at OCC don't-- challenge you.
If you are taking this class for the sole purpose of receiving credit, I highly recommend that you DO NOT take her for this class, unless you're some sort of math wiz, of which I am not. The tests are very hard and you feel somewhat unprepared on what to study. The final exam itself was nothing that we had learned. Avoid at all costs!
If youre thinking about taking Professor Broesamle, let me give you some of the best advice you could ever take in life- dont. Goodness she is a terrible professor. She is just horrible at explaining things and leaves out SO many important steps because she just assumes students remember them from high school! EXTREMELY tough grader! BEWARE !!!
I should have listened to the reviews. One of the worst math professors at occ. Doesnt make any sense in her lectures, and will put stuff on the test that she never went over in class. The only way to pass is if you do NOT take any other classes at the same time as this one and devout every minute that youre not sleeping into studying like crazy.
Holy smokes she moves FAST !!!! Wow I have never had a math professor move as rate she does! And she gets very snappy whenever students ask her to slow down or repeat something! The attitude needs to go! I dont understand why she gets that snappy over students asking for clarification or just to simply slow down! Please take somebody else.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. WARNING TO ALL. She gives an insane amount of homework, and then she puts a TON of material on the test that we never went over! Ridiculous! She also will skip several important steps when showing examples problems because she says this should have been learned in previous classes in not here to re-teach any of that!
Im going to give you advice that you will truly regret if do not follow: Do not take Professor Broesamle Just DONT
I am appalled that she has not been fired yet. Truly shocked. Her disrespect towards students is uncanny. She tells students well you shouldnt be in my class if you cant remember something as simple as factoring and I DO mean to insult your intelligence, go back to high school algebra ifthis concept is difficult FIRE HER. THAT IS NOT RIGHT.
Im not one to give negatives reviews, but I cannot hold back with Brosamle. Ive never had a worst Professor in my 4 years of college. She is so rude, and skips over a lot assuming we know. She does not give partial credit. No extra credit either.
WORST MATH PROFESSOR IN COMMUNITY COLLEGE HISTORY. Her style of teaching is ridiculous. So surprised she has not been fired yet. She assumes we remember everything from all previous math classes, and will refuse to go over it in class! She refuses to hand out extra credit. Her test are about 40 long questions each. AVOID !!!
Her methods of teaching and conducting tests is very outdated, would not recommend taking this class unless you really have to then she'll do I guess. Btw it's et cetera NOT exetera smh
Avoid at all cost. Seriously, even if shes the only professor available. I have never come across a more unprofessional, rude, and just overall TERRIBLE professor. All the bad reviews are accurate. She puts things on the test from future chapters that she hasnt gone over and says its a way to challenge us. Challenge? Seriously??? unbelievable!
don't take her.. trust me. I've always been an A student, and math is one of my favorite subjects, but prof B makes it way harder and more stressful than it should be..
Possibly the worst math professor of all Oakland Community College and the absolute toughest grader. Youve been warned.
She makes college algebra much more difficult than it should be. I dont recommend her. Shes a very tough grader, and gives no partial credit. Assigns tons of weekly homework, and makes the test very difficult. No extra credit options. Take at your own risk.
I think Prof Broesamle would be more comfortable teaching in person, but did a serviceable job.
I should have listened to the reviews. Ive always been an A math student, but received a D in this class. Why? Because she is possibly the worst lecturer ever. Her test are incredibly hard and long, with no partial credit. Do not take her. Even with the 30+ hours per week I spent doing work for this class and several tutors, I couldnt pass.
She was one of my favorite teachers before COVID. Her teaching format works when you can attend her classes, ask her questions in an open forum and group with other students. Online, however? Very little time for questions and she actually shrinks the amount of time you have to do tests. Don't take her in a remote format.
Professor Broesamle was one of the best math professors I have ever had. In the beginning, I was afraid to take her class due to the ratings, but she is a really good professor. She explains the material in a very easy way and her tests are similar to the homework and lectures. So, if you do the homework and pay attention to class you will do great
Professor Broesamle is a very good professor. Tests are pretty easy if you go to class and study from her notes. She gives extra credit sometimes and she will answer any question you have
She is an amazing professor! Her recordings are great and the exams are pretty easy (of course if you study). I definitely recommend her!
She is an amazing professor. One of the best math professors I've had so far!
I work full time to support myself. So being told the class was light on HW was good news, until the script flipped and instead the class was very heavy in assignments, the tests ran past time limits, hours of lectures were a must per day, and the teacher herself hardly teaches. Definitely recommend a tutor and LOTS of free time for this class
I took her class online, I have actually had her twice for different math classes but I dropped her class both times. She is nice, but maybe just did not work with my learning style very well. There were a lot of tests and way too much busy work to keep up with any other classes or life at the time. Busy work and practice heavy class.
Do not, and I repeat do NOT take professor Broesamle. She is not a good teacher whatsoever. She flies over the material and often time forgets to explain half of the topic. She's terrible at explaining and she gives very little for points. Her noon class only has 8 people left in it because so many people dropped the class. I do not recommend her.
worst teacher ever. DO NOT TAKE HER. I didn't listen to the reviews and ended up dropping her class. She assigns so many homework problems and her tests are on problems we have never gone over before or the hardest possible version of the problems we went over. She teaches by doing the problem once and then expects you to understand it immediately.
Do the homework problems. Do. The. Homework. Problems. Calc 2 is hard and yeah, she could make it easier but it still takes a lot of work. The lecture goes by fast and not a lot of time on each topic so do the homework problems. Repetition makes those formulas stick. This class will take a lot of time.
Coming straight from an algebra course you will do ok & if you don't get sick. Covid positive & having to quarantine? Missed a test or an assignment deadline due to quarantine? She won't let you make it up. NO. MATTER. WHAT! Instructing too long & needs to get with the times in this pandemic. She instructs way too fast & wont be bothered to help.
We started with 35 kids in the class and as time went on less and less kids showed up. 1st test had 28 kids 2nd had 16. I dont remember the 3rd test but the final we had a total of 5 kids with 2 of them leaving after 15 minutes. She screws around with the light in-front of her and always talks about how she wants to get it fixed.I would never reco
Wont ever let you make up tests. I got stuck in quarantine and couldnt make up a test i missed and had to take a 0 on it. Terrible at teaching as well. Started the semester with 33 students in my class, ended it with 9.
This professor is not well motivated at all, within the first couple of class periods we lost many students and I do not blame a single one of them. It seems like this teacher is more concerned with getting through a certain amount of sections in one night instead of making sure her students are understanding the concepts she is trying to teach.
No partial credit, no huge extra credit, no make ups, massively homework heavy, test heavy, fast talking lectures where she skips steps, rude to student and does not care if you do not understand. Do not take this professor, not interested in the progress of the student and makes calc 2 harder then it needs to be. Please, I repeat, do not take her.
Don't listen to all of these other reviews. She is a fair teacher. Do the practice problems and the homework and you will have no trouble on the exams. Always willing to help and explains things very clear. She drops the lowest exam score and replaces it with the final exam score. Pay attention in class and get a good grade... simple as that.
She is a very fair professor. Do all of the homework and textbook assignments, and you will do fine. She does lecture kind of fast, but she was always willing to help me when I was confused.
Poor teaching methods with angry answers to questions and refusal to answer simple questions about lesser topics. Gets upset and treats students poorly and drowns you with homework.
DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. She doesn't answer emails whatsoever. Seems like she hates her job and just wants to retire. VERY heavy on homework and has no late forgiveness. Expect lots of homework that is barely discussed in class and be prepared to take tests you know nothing about.
Be prepared to learn on your own at home, getting a tutor may be a necessity
Honestly, it was difficult no doubt. Yet, she answered questions and if you had questions on the test most of the time all it would take is asking. If you did all of the homework you would be fine. Our class had an SI which was super helpful. If you do the work the class is easy, if not you will not survive. The test questions are from the homework
I feel she made the content easy to understand and she's fair. I plan on taking MAT 1500 with her this coming semester. Fair warning, you have to put in the work to get a good grade. Show up, pay attention and do everything assigned. If you don't you'll fail. She also moves fast through the content and there is a lot of content to cover.
I had Professor Bro during the fall 2022 semester. I liked her, I thought she was a good teacher and she did a nice job explaining everything. Just make sure to do the work and do the homework. She does assign a lot but she is very organized with all assignments. The tests are hard but if you study and put in the effort you will be fine.
She's not a terrible professor she's just very rude, she expects you to understand concepts as soon as she does an example and when people ask questions she is rude when responding and it doesn't help. She clearly loves math but doesn't seem like she actually likes "teaching".
I have loved taking this women's classes. she has clear notes as a packet that she hands out. anyone who does poorly in her classes does not do the book work. to succeed in her class do what she tells you to and ask questions about book work at the beginning of class. it is calculus it builds on itself figure out the issues early and she will help.
This is my absolute favorite teacher. She is firm on grading, does not accept late work, but she is very clear with expectations. The syllabus has everything that will be gone over through the semester. Bookwork is assigned daily, it is not graded but questions are answered in class. Graded assignments sprinkled in between tests. Amazing SI too.
Ms. B is the best teacher that you can ask for when it comes to math. She assigns a lot of homework, not mandatory, but extremely helpful to do. She does not teach you things you need to know, but its a pre-req for this class, so she shouldn't have to. The lectures are fantastic, and easy to understand. Work hard, and you'll do fine. Definitely one of the worst professors I've ever had. She can be extremely unprofessional over the most minute things. Her handwriting is unreadable. If you miss a class, you might as well drop the course because you will not recover from it. She does not give feedback on tests- she just strikes out entire questions without elaboration. Bad class.
Holly Broesamle's class requires a lot of independent studying, but using tools like unstuckstudy alongside the textbook can really help. She explains concepts quickly, so staying focused in class is crucial. Overall, a challenging but rewarding course.
You might pass if you are a full-time student and have only 1-2 other classes. If you work, you're not going to have enough time to do the massive amount of homework given (20+ problems online, 30+ in book). People who say "just do all of the homework" teach themselves and don't rely on the prof to teach. No partial or extra credit. Do not take.
DON'T TAKE HER!! Worst math teacher I have ever had, her lectures are very confusing and she rushes through all the material. I practically had to teach myself, she can also be very rude to students and desperatly needs to retire or update her ways of teaching.
Too much homework
Do not take this professor. She does not answer questions and is very rude. 80% of the grade was tests so if you don't do well on tests don't take her.
Was not willing to help her students at all. If you have accommodations DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS. She answers questions without answering them. She teaches at the speed of light. She Doesn't respond to emails and when called on her office phone she was very rude. She talks to you in a very condescending way as well,
As someone with accommodations and struggles with math in general. She was absolutely no help
Taught myself a lot b/c she taught soo fast. Answering questions in and outside of class sometimes seemed like a burden to her, so I never went to OH. Just do the HW and try ALL the textbook problems (which i didnt always do), practice!! Only did well on 2/5 tests, & by the grace of God somehow still passed with 80% of the grade being test scores..
I took Ms B for Calc 2 over an accelerated 7 week summer course. She taught units in a different order because she felt it yielded better exam scores and it definitely did for me. I can guarantee the majority of bad reviews for her are students who don't understand that hard curriculum ≠ bad professor. There is no way to make Calc 2 a cake walk!
Yes this class is work heavy and I won't deny it. I had her for both trig and calc 1, but I love her. If you take advantage of the SI sessions and follow along in class you should do good. She does partial credit when she grades both tests and homework and it was a fun class for me
I love math, so I thought she was great! Honestly, I think most of the bad ratings are from people who dislike math, or just want everything to be easy, so take those with a grain of salt. Lover her personality and she made jokes here and there. It shouldn't be difficult to get through her classes if you actually try and want to learn.
She is a great professor. Would have gladly taken Calc 2 with her if my schedule had been more flexible. Took three of her math classes and each one was a great learning experience. Her lecture notes are posted on D2L after every class, so was able to pay better attention during lectures without having to constantly worry about my notes.
