Interesting class. She makes things fun and jokes around. She is also the hottest teacher I have ever had. It is sometimes hard to stay focussed because you find yourself checking her out the entire class!
Excellent teacher, she knows her stuff and makes learning fun. Also the hottest teacher I have ever seen!
This is the smartest and most interesting prof. I've ever had!
She is a very intelligent, and beautiful teacher. She makes history fun and interesting. Very fair in grading and reasonable.
Great teacher, kind, helpful, enthusiastic, fun, caring, pretty. What else could you want?
She's very clear in her lessons and it really shows she knows what she's talking about (recalls dates and everything very easily). There are a few readings from the books every week, 3 books.Very good teacher for this being her first semester and I'm glad she doesn't lazily rely on videos to do her teaching like other professors.Young and refreshing
so i took Am hist with her and it was a blast. it also doesn't hurt that shes one spicy meat ball! My friend wanted to come to my class just to look at her lmao. very smart and loves history just like me lol. if you do the work and read up occasionally for discussions, youll get an A. tests are pretty easy too.
This is the FIRST history class that i have never fallen asleep in! She is very energetic and really loves what she teaches! She is also hella pretty! you have to write 5 essays, but they are all short/and or easy. A VERY GOOD TEACHER! I wish i could take her for every class
I am taking her now for hist 365 and she is a wonderful teacher. she makes it interesting. if you do the essays and do well on the test then its an easy class.
Makes subject very interesting. According to this semester, she has a cultural approach rather than memorization of dates, 3 books with readings that you don't really need to focus on until work/exams call for them. There is one simple presentation, 5 writings, 4 discussions (one can be dropped from each). Only bad thing is that class is not informed of grades
Hottest teacher i have ever had. She really knows her stuff and makes it fun and intersting. Make sure u study a little now and then and u should be fine.
An excellent teacher. She is extremely passionate about history. Never gets angry, always open to communication. Ms. Piscopo (Holly) essentially makes it feel like a study group versus an intimidating lecture. She is a rare gem in the academic world.
Take her! She's incredibly enthusiastic, and makes history interesting. She integrates lecture, movie clips, pictures, and discussion. She's very nice. She gives 6 writing assigments, 5 of which you have to do. They get harder as you go, but their manageable, and there are 3 tests: 2 midterms and a final thats not comprehensive :)
She is very enthusiastic about the subject matter and takes different perspectives that are quite engaging on material that generally isn't. If you have any issues bring it up after class or during office hours, she can be flexible as long as you keep open communication. Attendance isn't enforced, but HIGHLY recommended
Holly Piscopo is an excellent professor. She is amicable, easy to engage in conversation and very enthusiastic about the history she teaches. She knows how to relate past issues to real life and modern agendas. The class is engaged in a way that allows for maximal interest. Plus, she is absolutely the hottest teacher ever. Try her History class!!!!
she is one of the nicest teachers i have ever had.shes quarkie and funny and has a real enthusiasm about what shes teaching.its hard not to pay attention with how excited she gets about it!TAKE HER CLASS!!!
Very nice teacher. Always a joy to be in class and keeps things interesting. She gives out study guides for tests which pretty much tell you exactly what is on the test, and allows note cards for the test. you will love her as a teacher, she is great.
Awesome Teacher, I loved her class, even though history can get boring. Shes funny, very helpful, and grades fairly. there is a good amount of assignments and three exams, but not hard. Loved her teaching style too...Great class..Take her!!
GREAT teacher!! is a blonde at times, making her very funny.. you have to take GREAT notes but she is willing to meet with you anytime to talk about anything. VERY understanding. Lets you slide with almost anything. Gives lots of work and you have to give it your all to get an A. interesting class.. she makes history fun!!!
great teacher. keeps the class entertained and alive with her blonde moments. you can tell she has a real passion for history and that makes the class more enjoyable. u have 5 short 1 page writing assignments. 2 tests (midterm and final), you receive a study guide with EVERYTHING on it. and you also get to bring a notecard with you to the tests.
Her enthusiasm and passion for history is contagious. Her lectures are informative, fun and entertaining. Read the book, take good notes, give extra credits and lets you use a 3x5 study guide on exams. Highly recommend and one of the best teacher in SCC!
Holly is by far one of the best teachers I have had at SCC. She is young and energetic and she really cares about her subject, and this is reflected in her teaching style. If you demonstrate that you care about your grade, she will give you the tools to pass the class. Just don't expect assignments to be returned quickly. Haha.
Holly is an excellent teacher. She is very enthusiastic and passionate about history. History is not one of my favorite subjects, but Holly made this class very enjoyable and interesting. The only poor thing about Holly is her procrastination. She only posted our grades ONCE during the entire semester, and took forever to give back papers.
Shes a cool teacher. read the book and pay attention. come to her if u need help. i recommend her
She does the best she can with the subject. Class is tons of lecturing but she covers the key points and tests on these points later. Can pass without reading, but read anyway to get a good grade. Good grades are possible as long as you do the work. Work involves a lot of writing. Midterm given ahead of time to allow studying. Notecard allowed too.
Professor Piscopo is very nice and understanding. She makes this class very interesting and lively. Lectures are not on board/powerpoint, so you have to take notes while she is lecturing-it's not too bad because she repeats the key points. Midterms are essay questions and definitions-not too difficult b/c she gives questions/terms on study guide.
Awesome energetic teacher. Classes are interesting enough and test is easy enough to pass. Would definitely recommend her as I plan on taking another one of her classes soon.
I like this teacher a lot. She was chill and made sure to tell you the main points to make note of for the tests. It was easy for me to retain the information because she said it well. Good energy and class was easy enough. I recommend her and I plan on taking a class with her next semester as well.
Holly is a great teacher. She gives study guides with everything that is going to be on the test. You do actually have to read in this class because we do in class discussions, but they are really easy. I recommend her to anyone that needs to take a history class.
Nice teacher and very helpful.Read your text books, all three of them, you will do fine.
She is a very understanding and helpful teacher. She knows and loves history. She gets you into the subject. You will have fun in her class.

she has a great attitude and uses a lecture/discussion method of teaching. to do well in this class you do need to read the text. attendance is not manditory but try to make it to class or you'll fall behind. always smiling, fun personality, very cute and hottt...i also took her for hist 365. you'll enjoy this class, trust me.
Holly Piscopo is fan-tab-u-lous! She's, in my opinion, very close to the perfect teacher! She's always smiling, helpful, and loves history...She made this class very interesting. Class has 3 papers, 3 tests, and maybe around 2 discussions. She is incredibly helpful and is friendly...I love her class. Oh, and she's gorgeous/hot which is a plus =)
She is an awesome teacher. She makes learning history fun and interesting. Very ethusiastic and passionate about teaching the subject. I wish she taught History 310 too. Attendance is not mandatory, but showing up helps. 3 research papers on topic of your choice.Exams are Manageable, just read, take lecuture notes, and you'll do fine.
Professor Piscopo is an awesome teacher. She is a beautiful person inside and out. You will become interested in history and she makes you think. The format is straight forward, 3 exams, and 3 research papers, extra credit is offered. Understanding & encouraging, TAKE HER! Do your work and you will do good.
This class should not be that hard if you put some effort on it.. Read the reading assignments to help you doing the tests.. Participate in the discussion sessions.. and you write a lot in this class, so be aware of it. Sometimes she has some pretty dry jokes..
Pretty easy teacher. Just show up to class, you dont really need a book, i bought both books and didnt use either. Just take the notes she writes, than from the study guides look up the key terms and brief yourself about the essay questions on wikipedia. Oh, you can also use a 3x5 note card. EASY PASS!
I couldn't stand history before taking Holly's class. Holly made it entertaining and fun. I found myself eager to learn about American History. You can really see her enthusiasm and love of her subject. With a professor that loves their subject this much . . . how can it not rub off on the students! I wish I could take her again!
Holly is the perfect teacher. She's hot and she's nice and her class is easy. I totally recommend her. Her beautiful image and personality justs makes you wanna smile and learn.
teacher - she is ditzy, but still a good prof; she is entertaining, so the class isn't completely boring class - not hard; a few in-class assignments; a few papers to write (3-6 pgs); lots of chances for extra credit; tests require you to define terms n state the importance, n either an essay or short answer portion; cheat sheet for tests
Holly is a great professor. She's nice, funny, and hot, and if you put some effort into her class, you will get an a.
Piscopo makes a boring subject interesting. She's passionate about history. Attending lectures and taking good notes is essential for a good grade. Exams require quite a bit of preparation, but match the study guides verbatim.
I took Ms. Piscopo for 3 sections. She's super sweet & easy-going. Allows you to make up missed midterms during finals week. good late-work policy too. 3 midterms (final is a midterm), some writing assignments, a project or two. the workload can be overwhelming if you're taking over 15 units. easy pass, but gotta do all the work for an A.
She is an easy teacher. She makes a bored subject become interesting. Guys just love having her around. Her passion about history reflects her c: personality. I wish I could take her again.
I can echo the sentiments of the other reviewers-Holly is the sweetest and most easy going teachers I've had at SCC, and I've been going for three years. She genuinely cares about her students and want them to succeed in the class.I found her to be very approachable and understanding. For a history class, the work load is fairly light.
As easy as everyone say she is, she really isn't. We had to do three, five page term papers, plus an in class report. Her test were always fairly difficult. She would always choose the things we talked about the least in class to put on the test.
just DO your work. she gets boring sometimes. but overall good teacher. she wants you to do well in her class and will help you. workload is alright, just do your work and prep well for tests.
Piscopo is not good at all. The tests and projects that she gives are too hard to get the grade that you expected. She is always 5 mins late for the class and pretty lazy grading the paper. Don't expect to get your paper with the grade and comment back on time. Don't take this prof.!!!
I took her Asian History class in fall of 08. Holly is a fun, easygoing professor. She is very approachable and nice. She also shows a lot of passion when she teaches which makes the lectures interesting. It is also nice bonus that she is very easy on the eyes!! If she wasn't married I would ask her out!!
She is one of the best History professors that I have ever had. Her classes are always intresting and you will learn many new things every day. She also gives you a test review before the test. Indeed, she gives the exam before to be studied a week before the test day. She gives very helpful material to help students understand the topics.
Loved this class and history is not my favorite subject. She is super clear and her lectures are very interesting. I got an A in this class. Take good notes and study out of the readings. She is a fair grader and wants her students to succeed. Attendance is mandatory.
She is a wonderful professor that cares extremely about her students. It's very hard to not pass this class if you pay attention in class!
Holly is one of the best teachers EVER! I loved her and she is super nice, fun, and relaxed in class. The tests are not too bad if you study the study guides a lot!THat was the only hard part about the class. Also, she assigns 3 papers and lets you pick when to work on them, so don't procrastinate or the last week of school will be hell. .
i took hist311, and she was the best....she helped me out a lot, and it made me enjoy history....she is a good teacher who knows a lot about history..and she is very fun to have. at first i didnt know anything about history, but she made me learn a lot; therefore, i know history..
Great teacher. No homework. Just 3 writing assignments (you only have to pick 2) and 3 tests. You get cheat sheets for the test, so don't worry. I never really used the book. Very passionate. Not to mention she's adorable. You won't regret taking her
Great professor, loves her subject, if ever debating on who to take, TAKE HER! Pretty easy class and shes HOT!!
Very hot professor! She loves the subject and makes you want to enjoy it also. Great lectures, homework assignments, but somewhat hard tests. You'll manage, unless you're lazy...
I really like her teaching method she is there to help students and see them suceed in class...I also liked the one card of notes we got to use during the test which is a plus...I recommend her to anybody wanting to learn about US History who will come to class to learn...she is very approachable and nice too...take here!!! A+++++++
the best teacher I have ever had at sac city! she really cares about her teaching and it shows. You have to study to get a good grade but nothing to crazy. She gives u 2 essay questions before the test for you to study and then the day of the test she picks one of them. how can you fail if you get the test before hand... der! easy easy
the best teacher I have ever had at sac city! she really cares about her teaching and it shows. You have to study to get a good grade but nothing to crazy. She is the worst professor I haver ever had. I regret taking her class she is a very harsh grader and always make changes to class assignments last minute. Ever day she comes in and say "we have a lot to do today"! I have straight A's in every class and she is impossible to please. Please don't waste ur time as I did
Yes its true she is very hot. But more importantly I'm currently in her class now, and she is very understanding, answers questions and welcomes you to visit office hours, tests can be hard but she provides study sessions as well that prove to be very helpful. Must take.
this class isn't a easy A class, you must work to receive. she isn't a harsh grader. there is a lot of readings. 3 exams, 3 quizzes, 2 major projects, and 3 writing assignments. Rest is just mainly reading and group discussions/or group work, and small amount of homework. she lectures from time to time.
Tough grader and I dont recommend anyone to take her class.
Good professor. She will help you if you need, but she does grade a bit harsh. The exams were difficult because they required a lot of writing, but as long as you study and take notes in class you will pass. I really like enthusiasm, and I recommend her as long as you are willing to put in the work!
she is a pro active professor. determined to help all those who WANT to succeed. just take the class you will not be disappointed. i can tell you all about her but it would be pointless. it is just like talking about hawaii, i can tell you all the wonderful things about the place, but if you never go there you will never get the the true experience
She is a nice and helpful teacher when you need it. She lectures, but she doesnt write much on the board. Just main points and goes fast when mentioning them. She does grade hard. We had one quiz every week, three exams, two writing essays, weekly journals, and one in class project. Exams are graded critically and quizzes were tricky.
Very easy going and engaging professor. Her tests and quizzes aren't hard, she even provides you with a website that lets you take practice quizzes! There are 2 writing assignments but they are super easy. She's pretty cute too so that's always a plus :). Highly recommend this professor!
This is the best prof at sac city, especially if you like history. Took a class of hers before and loved it. She gives you study guides before tests which have all the test info plus you can have a notecard, how can you fail? Enthusiastic about the subject and makes sure you get the important points. Dont sign up for her looks, she is taken!
Prof. Piscopo is very laid back and fun. She gets along really well with the class. There are 3 papers (2-3 pages) given out but only 2 are required. There are discussion questions weekly on D2l. 1 midterm and final. Just go over the study guide for a day and you'll do great. I got an A with last minute studying.
She's a very good teacher. I have taken 3 of her classes. I cannot emphasize this enough, read the textbook! She grades kind of hard. Quizzes are right out of the book. Study guides for tests are given a week prior the test. She gives out extra credit. There is a presentation (project) and a few essays. Just remember to read the textbook!!!
She is one of the best professor I have ever had in my life, she grades very light, she's passionate about the subject, she wants and care for everyone to suceed, she's attractive and offer a lot of extra credits.
I already miss this class! It was fun and playful. Professor Piscopo made sure that everyone understood the requirements. However, you need to keep up with the online discussions; otherwise you'll lose points. Bottom line: there was a lot of homework. Nevertheless, she allowed make ups for discussions, and was an easy grader. Take her!
Weekly discussions, 5 exams,11 quizzes, 5 assignments (one short family history paper, one book review paper, and three assignments related to a research paper), and lots of opportunity for extra credit. Easy A or B. The teacher was great. I learned a lot and would recommend her to anyone.
I have taken many online classes and this is definitely one of the hardest ones. The exams can be extremely hard. There are about 7 writing assignments total, each a couple of pages. You have to read an additional novel and write a paper on it. I would highly recommend that you purchase the online version of the main book instead of the paperback.
Easy A if you read the chapters. I got all the required text for less than $10 each on Amazon. A lot of extra credit. She is very nice and quick to respond. I learned a lot.
Since everything was online, it was basically open everything. Not bad at all, with lots of extra credit and make-up points. Other than that, she's pretty rough on grading essays. By the time you're in college, you should have decent writing, so don't expect to give something basic and receive an A.
Weekly readings from text (~30 pgs), weekly discussion boards, weekly quizzes, multiple writing assignments, and an additional required book to read on the side. All quizzes and exams were easy multiple choice and T/F, open book/note, taken online. Final wasn't cumulative. TONS of extra credit opportunities. Just take her already. :)
I took this class because of the reviews online. The tests are not simple. 10% of every quiz/exam are random questions that don't deal with the meat of the topics or are subjective. I love, love history and a lot of the questions are prospective basis. So if you go by facts the most you will score on the tests is a c or maybe a b. Don't take her!!!
Open notes, open book. Easy class. Extra Credit offered. Fun discussions. You learn a lot about the history of the US, especially the dirty side. Immerse yourself and have fun!
This professor was shockingly unbiased and down to earth. She accepts different points of view as it pertains to history. She responds instantly to problems, and grades assignments quickly. Furthermore, her instructions take out all of the garbage, and are precise as to what she wants. Although the textbooks may be Eurocentric, this professor isn't
Thorough w instructions & grading criteria. Down to earth, sweet, & helpful. Responds to emails promptly. Awesome selection of books for you to choose from for your 2nd book. Takes a wee bit to grade assignments, but that's only because she has a lot of students & actually gives you thougtful feedback. Who knew history could be enjoyable?! :)
Great class and prof. I learned a ton and enjoyed the assignment. Weekly reading, quiz, and discussion posts, and several exams. Several essays inc. a big research paper , and a book report. It was a lot of work but not killer. Quick to respond to emails and questions. Slow grader. Plenty of extra credit. Would definitely take again!
Miss Piscopo is one of the first professors that I came to both appreciate and respect on a holistic basis. She is a kind woman, knowledgeable in her field, and a mentor for students. Her energy and tact for history gave me the inspiration I truly needed to combat the reality of history, and read fully my first history book. She is inspirational.
Weekly discussion boards and opportunities for extra credit. There is 5 assignments and they aren't bad at all. There is a research paper of your own topic that is apart of the 5 assignments. She has an optional exam for ec as well. I only met her at orientation but she seems very caring for her students.
She is an awesome teacher, cares that you understand and learn. Make sure to read every week and take advantage of the extra credit. Easier class, but I like history.
Although, I only met her once during Orientation she really feels like she cares about her students. She gives great feedback on your work and is very available. She does have a weird grading system that can guarantee you a B, but you have to work for it. Have to do an extra paper to get an A and "meet requirements". Take the class. Do the work.
The class can look intimidating from the start. Discussions, quizzes, papers, and exams. Reading is only necessary to answer discussion questions. Since it's online, quizzes and exams are open book. Papers aren't difficult. Responds to email in a timely manner. Different grading system but its easier. Highly recommend
To receive an A in the class, you write an extra paper to top ALL the reading, writing assignments, discussion posts, quizzes and practices. If you missed any of those class assignments but write the A paper you will only receive a B top. If you did all the work except the last paper its a B. Nice prof, but wont take again.
Piscopo is your best bet if youre taking it with a friend online and have other things to focus on. I wouldnt say shes amazing because of weekly discussions, readings, quizzes, writing assignments and exams. Although everything is open-notes, its an online class so its crucial to take it if youre up for self-discipline.
Meh. She uses contract grading, which means that you're graded on the quantity of work you complete instead of the quality of your effort. Translation: Lots of work, a professor who promises to be responsive but takes longer than necessary and often changes assignment descriptions. You can def pass this class, but an A requires lots of extra work.
You have to work for an A in this class but it is definitely doable. There are weekly discussions, quizzes, and other minor assignments that need to be completed each week so stay on top of your game if youre planning to take this class. Requires you to do an extra essay to get an A but overall, this class isnt difficult if you put time into it.
If you enjoy writing, then take this class. There is quite a bit of writing that she requires you to do. Extra credit is offered near the end of the semester. Her feedback on the research paper isn't too clear. Overall, she's an okay professor. A tip for this class is make sure you have strong arguments for all the write-ups.
Prof. Piscopo's class was not easy but it also is not hard to get a good grade since her grading criteria is thorough and her prompts are well thought out. There is a lot of writing in this class so if that is not your strong suit, take someone else. I enjoy writing so it wasn't a problem. You will learn a lot, and it's all very captivating.
She is great, if you get a chance take her!! She offers a lot of extra credit but you will not need to do the extra credit if you do all the work. She grades fairly and she is clear on what she wants.
Every Week 1 discussion board, 3 Essay Exams ( lowest score drop), 1 Research Paper (1500 words), and PowerPoint presentation about History topics. Beware ( Plagiarism is ON for each exams and paper). A lots of Extra Credit. if you really work for it, you will definitely get an A in this Class and i really mean it. Fair Grader.
Got 107% in her class! She's SO SWEET, gives fulling feedback on papers, and responds to emails quickly. There were less than a handful of essays, 1 discussion board a week, and that summed up her class. Super easy!
I loved having professor piscopo. She was so kind and really loves history which makes me more interested in learning it when she speaks so passionately about these random history facts. I would 110% take her class again.
She has been one of the best history professors I have ever had, especially during the pandemic semester. She is caring and is very understanding. Take her class!
Best history professor I have ever had. She is caring and very understanding. Take her course!
One of the best professors ive ever had super easy to get a hold of and really understanding I would definitely take again !
Great teacher! I took her for History 311 and liked her so much I enrolled into her History 310 class. She gives lots of extra credit and the homework and exams are easy to understand.
I would Highly recommend this professor. Her assignments were mainly disscussions that are clear and easy. She only does 3 Exams that covers on the weeks, as well as give extra credit. Seis very helpful when youare in need very kind and wants you to pass the class.
Professor Piscopo is one of the best history professors. She is very clear in her instructions and each assignment is broken down step by step. She also makes videos for the class, so that we know what is expected per assignment. The textbook was provided by her and she's willing to work with students. Only 2/3 of her tests are required.
I took the 8-week class. Great professor & gives feedback on tests and projects. In this course there are 2 discussions per week, 3 exams (you only need to take 2 exams), and 1 final project. Professor Piscopo gives great feedback and really appreciates her students' work. A wonderful professor to take during pandemic times.
Professor Piscopop is a solid teacher but is one of the most disorganized teachers I've ever met. It is impossible to find anything in that class.
The textbook is online and there are 3 test (she only grades 2 of them) and they are essays (so you dont really study for them). There is a discussion post every week and even though she posts videos/additional articles, you dont need to go over them too much. She is an amazing professor, really try to get in her class if you can!
Definitely one of my favorite professors!! She does a great job organizing her class, mostly discussion boards, and exams. She gives you 3 exams throughout the semester and drops the lowest. There is also a project that teaches you a lot as well. Recommend her HIST 310 for the 1st 8-week session and her HIST 311 for the 2nd 8-week session.
Im still in the class but I will say she is the best professor Ive had since being at SCC. She sets you up for success. You can tell shes passionate about her teachings and is always available for you. Im not a big history buff but Im so interested now. Take her, shes great!
Shes the best! I didnt care for history prior to but know Im soooo intrigued! Shes great. Every week she does an overview so theres no surprises! Assignments can take a while but its fun and not boring material. so dont worry! Best history professor. You wont regret taking her class.
Love her! Her personality is so great and the work is not overbearing, but enough so that you retain the information and learn. Weekly discussions, biweekly quizzes, and three papers. Not too bad. I'd recommend her.
Definitely recommend her class nothing too hard or anything very easy to do mainly discussions, exams, and a research project, and she offered the textbook. She made history very fun and interesting!
I took this as a eight week class. So this is a assignment heavy but great class. Class consists of 100 points with up to ten points extra credit. Theres discussion posts multiple times a week, three tests but she third one is optional consisting of an essay and one project. She grades pretty easy just look at the rubric, overall great professor
Professor Piscopo really cares about her students. Our focus was on API and she is so committed on making students succeed. Her discussions were fun as we read and had to respond as a character from the era. She made the class fun and her small lectures of what to expect during the week were great. Take her if you get the chance!!
Professor is okay! Tough grader for sure. LOTS of reading! LOTS! If reading isn't your thing I would strongly advise against it. If you like to get ahead again would not advise random assignments added throughout the week or later in the week. Most if not all discussions are two-three paragraphs minimum once or twice a week and lead to a project.
Professor Piscopo's Hist 310/Hist 311 were very educational and had easy weekly assignments. Mostly 2 discussions a week and 2 projects due at the end of the semester. She gives you multiple source types like videos and a textbook. I would highly recommend her if you're looking to learn and balance outside things. She responds to emails fast
There was a lot of work, mostly from reading, since I took an 8-week class, but overall it was easy. She has office hours for questions, and she lets us skip the last discussion board and exam if we haven't missed a discussion and we are satisfied with our other two exam grades. She also has some extra credit assignments if we want a grade boost.
VERY organized throughout her modules. I took an eight week course with her which made her modules a little time consuming, but she always gives you a heads up ahead of time in her modules to let you know approximately how long it'll take. It really isn't too bad, and she is a very sweet and kind professor. Just do the work, and you'll be fine.
Pr. Piscopo focuses on understanding the trends of different time periods, and the social and ecological issues that lead to conflict and changes rather than memorizing dates. Grading was fair, the workload was relatively light, and tests were not time restricted. She is also considerate if you have excessive responsibilities and grants extensions.
Second time taking another 8 week course with Professor Piscopo and I absolutely love her! Her passion for history has gotten me to like history so much, I had to take her again. If you can keep up with the reading and the discussions you will pass her class. She is 1 of 3 top favorite professors at SCC. She is a MUST take if you need History.
She is an amazing professor that shows her passion for the subject as well as respect for her students very clearly! Her grading criteria and deadlines are all very clear. I took an 8 week with her so the course was fast but overall doable. She makes history interesting, relatable, and real. She is also very sweet and responsive! Take her!
Love her teaching. Just a great person.
Easy going and cares about her students. Lots of reading and the exams are all written. Provides text online.
I've taken a few of her history courses and I am in love with the way Mrs.Piscopo teaches things. Her prompts are easy to follow and her feedback is extremely helpful. A con of her class unfortunately is that there is a really large amount of reading and writing to do, so if you don't mind that sort of thing, definitely give her class a try!
Tons of work and there isn't a syllabus for the class so everything was added super last minute. Very very slow grader, I didn't get my first grades till half way through the class. Everything was focused on slavery and gender even though many of the modules had nothing to do with those things which really got old. Tons of reading. Don't recommend.
If you are required to take a History course, I highly recommend professor Piscopo! She is so caring and understanding, and the material is pretty easy and straightforward. She is an honest grader!
Like the other reviews, she gives ALOT of reading and writing. Mostly 2 discussions + reply every week. There are also 3 content survey (it will add up to 3000 words per), but the lowest score is dropped. Majority of your grades are based on these content survey and 2 projects. Slow grader and uploads late. She gives extra credit opportunity tho.
This isn't the best professor for HIST 310 for an 8 week course. There are 2 projects, the history challenge and the research and design project which aren't bad. If you are a full time student, I think it's best to look at other professors for an 8 week course. Assignment and reading HEAVY.
As an 8 week course it is a bit fast but manageable. She really cares about her students and wants you to succeed. 3 content surveys- describing 10 key topics + answer 1 "essay" question but drops lowest score so if your happy with the grade you can skip the last one, 2 projects that are based on your interests, 2 weekly discussion post/homework
There is no end to the amazing things I could say about Professor Piscopo. She truly is the best professor I have ever had. She cares about her students and works with them to ensure they succeed. If you can take her I would 100% recommend it. Loved taking her for both HIST 310 and 364.
Prof. Piscopo is an amazing professor! Had to do only 2/3 content surveys, two projects (get started early!) and offers tons of extra credit opportunities! She is a very fair grader and offers valuable feedback. Her love for teaching truly does get showcased through her virtual interactions and content material. If you can, take her class!
I loved taking Holly's class! She provides all the textbook links and even audios if you're not big on reading. The assignments were all easy. The hardest parts were the content surveys but you only have to do 2/3 that she posts if you're happy with your grade because she keeps the highest grade out of the 2! She's also very helpful in feedback.
Taken online, accounts will vary. class in my opinion was great, assignments were very interesting for the history buff types. only downside was how rushed it was as everything was crammed into eight weeks. great class for learning about our nations history.
She's very accommodating; lots of material to learn from and creative assignments. You'll do great if you can keep up with reading a lot. Some big projects, but they're fun to do. I loved taking this class and that's saying a lot because I hate history. Highly recommend taking her class.
she is the best professor i ever had. She always makes sure you understand everything and tries to help you make it clear to everyone.
This was a very nice class. Professor Piscopo is very caring and will help you if you ask for help and work hard. I learned to much in this class about US History and enjoyed learning. I would take this class/professor again and recommend to others. Remember to do assignments and start on projects early. She has online office hours you can attend.
She is very nice, I took Hist 364 with her and plan to take Hist 310. In the semester we had tea house conversation, 2 content surveys, and Asian civilization challenges as major assignments + 1 easy weakly discussion. The material was hard for me because I am not a English native speaker, but I felt confidence that I would pass with a high grade.
Professor Piscopo is a caring instructor who makes the material engaging. With creative assignments and manageable workload, the class is doable if you stay on top of things. unstuck ai was a helpful study tool.
I had her hybrid class and she is a little all over the place because she has so much to say about history. I disliked the ppl in the class but she was a great professor. She's very caring and I've learned more in this class then any other history class I've taken. She has great examples and the midterm was super easy.
One of the best professors to take! I took her 8 wk first term online Fall 24. I was falling a little behind in the middle of the class since it was a little fast paced. She helped me straighten out when I emailed her for the help. She's super kind. There's either quizzes, discussions, homework. 3 content survey's, 1 museum project, extra credit.
The weekly writing assignments aren't bad it just depends on you.I don't spend my time reading them. I look at the discussion expectations first and see which reading I need to read. The content surveys are the worst and take a LONG time so don't procrastinate. DO your projects in beginning of expected due date or else you'll have projects+surveys.
Professor Piscopo is very clear with the assignments and grades kindly when you put the work in. The weekly readings and videos do take some time, but the discussions are straightforward. There are projects and writing assignments, but no exams. As long as your work is thorough and you do the extra credit, learning and getting an A is very doable.
Per week, theres not much to do except a lot of reading that you just don't need to do. There's a couple of big projects toward the end of the semester that are way longer than I expected. other than that she was fine but I didn't like the class.
I had her for History and she's genuinely the sweetest professor everrrrr. Light work load, easy assignments, doesn't make everything too formal. Gives lots of slack and extra credit, I would 100% take her again I love her class :)
Goat professor, great class, should be included in the MJ and LeBron conversations. Going down in the professor HOF hands down.
Prof dont allow late things. The homework is understandable sometimes a bit difficult. Some asssignments take hours to do. Grading is okay just have to follow everything that is being asked. Class is easy however if you miss an assignment you can't do it later but does give extra credit.
Although there was lots of homework, she would regularly remind students of assignments due. She is super kind and super clear with her instructions. You have multiple chances to pick up your slack and I learned a lot from her. Great professor!
- Great communication skills - Fast replies - Caring - aware - compassionate
She is so sweet! Assignments were easy but lengthy. She gave a lot of extra credit and provided a lot of feedback.
Amazing teacher! She has a great system of how she assigns her work and gives you a breakdown of what you should be doing within the module. Very easy class and every answer is provided to you if you take the time to watch and read the very short materials she provides. You can't submit anything late, but has opportunities to make up work plus ec.
I love how she provides a video explaining the material each week that way the homwork is not as confusing.
She gives good feedback and is very caring toward her students. She reminds us when assignments are due and responds to emails quickly. She also offers lots of extra credit, which helps make the class easier to manage.
This professor really values and rewards hard working students that put a lot of effort into their work. There is plenty of feedback given in order to improve on future assignments and the work is not a lot but can be tedious. She also is very understanding, as I have had multiple times where I was in need of an extension and she happily provided.
pretty easy
This professor is really understanding and the work load is pretty small and doesn't take up that much time of your day. The assignments were very easy to understand and I never once really struggled with the work given in her course.
Professor Piscopo is an easy A for sure, and you should really only have to spend a couple hours every one day per week to get the classwork done. There's a small project that you have to do but it's pretty straightforward and a little fun. There's a lot of assignment that are just participation, and the written assignments every week are easy.
I'm really fond of Prof. Piscopo. She is very caring, kind and understanding teacher. She gives extra credits and good feedback. Late submission can be acceptance if you have strong rational explanation. I would definitely recommend, it's fun class.
