Holly is a great teacher! She uses alot of examples as she teaches so it's easy to apply it to your life so you can remember all the information. There is alot to learn though. No homework required but it helps alot in studying for the tests.

Holly was amazing. She really wanted you to understand the material. Her lectures made perfect sense and if you just pay attention to that then you can get an A in the class. Don't fear organic II, just take it from Holly and pay attention.

I had Holly for ochem 1&2 and culinary chem and I would take any other class she teaches. She's so eager to help you succeed in her classes. The material is difficult but way she presents it to you makes you believe you can conquer the challenge. Do the discussion worksheets, read the text, go to class and you'll do well. Ask her questions.

Had her for O chem 2 and the lab- she is amazing! I have never had a professor that actually went to the discussions and walked around with the TAs answering questions. She is really passionate about chemistry and you can tell she really loves teaching and helping students succeed!

Took O Chem 2 from her and loved it. Great lectures and very helpful teacher. You need to work lots of problems because the subject is tough so the tests are tough.

Holly is a very caring professor. My friends and I often joked that she's the "motherly one" and the only professor who's competent at teaching throughout the gen chem/o chem series. Definitely spend time studying and doing problems though, since there are way too many reactions to remember and too many reagents to learn how to use

Fabulous professor. She and professor Owens are tied for my favorite teachers, the chemistry department at the U is phenomenal. If you are willing to work hard, she gives you all the tools you need to succeed. Use everything she gives you, and you will ace the class. Hands down, her discussion sheets are the most helpful. Love this teacher!

Phenomenal professor, still a very challenging class but Holly is such a great teacher I got really into Organic Chemistry and did well in the class. Very interesting lecturer and her TAs really went above and beyond to help. Great experience all around.

The best professor I have ever had. Her interest in chemistry shows in her lectures. Difficult, but very fair in testing. I would give no other professor a higher rating. Has a passion for organic chemistry and can easily portray concepts at a fundamental level. SHE IS PHENOMENAL!

Holly is the best professor I have ever had. She is the most genuine individual who cares about each student. Her lectures can sometimes be slightly confusing and rushed, but she is always willing to meet with you for extra help. I would give no other professor a higher rating.

Honestly the best professor I have ever had! She is passionate about what she teaches and she wants everyone in her class to not only succeed but to actually understand what she is teaching. She goes that extra mile to help her students do well. She gives you ALL the resources you need to do well in her class.

Holly is a great professor. She teaches things clearly and thoroughly. The only problem is that she will sometimes rush the material when it gets thick. She also doesn't respond to emails. But she was very friendly and a great teacher. I recommend her for OChem.

Holly does a phenomenal job teaching a hard subject. She is passionate about her job and her students. Her exams are very fair. She provides you with all of the material you need to get an A. Read the textbook, it is very helpful and do ALL of her problem sets twice as well as additional problems from the textbook and you'll get your A!

One of the best teachers I have ever had. She is so passionate about the subject and her students. She truly cares for her students and wants to see them succeed. It takes loads of time to get an A in this class but it is definitely possible with Holly as a teacher. I'm even a TA for this class now cause she made me love it so much!

Holly is THE best professor I've had in my 3 years at the U. She provides all necessary materials needed to pass the class. I worked harder for this grade than ever before but I learned to like chemistry! Do each problem set three times before each exam and you will pass! I didn't read more than 2 pages of the textbook. Use Klein for reading!

Holly is absolutely wonderful. Go to lecture, do the extra credit problems, do all the problem sets (twice) and you will do well. She prepares you well for tests; she tells you exactly what is coming. She really wants you to do well.

This class had two things due each week, 1. a post discussion worksheet and 2. back of the book problems, lots of them. These assignments and Holly's lecture really teach you O-Chem. this is one of the hardest classes I have taken, however Holly is the best prof and there to help. Be glad she is your professor.

Holly is amazing. She really is. She takes time to learn the names of her students, and cares about their lives. Easily one of my favorite teachers on campus. She likes to talk about basketball, and she is super helpful. Organic Chemistry is not an easy subject though, and to do well you really need to attend lecture and study. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT!

Holly is an amazing human being. She honestly loves chemistry and wants to show you how cool it is. She's not easy, but she's there for office hours and extra help. Do the Smith problems, worksheets, and put in the time and you'll do great. She wants you to do well, unlike other professors that try to make their class hard. Go Holly for O-chem!

Holly is hands down one of the best professors that I have ever had. She cares about every student, but she makes them work hard for the grade that they receive. The TAs that she hires are incredible and I would take any class that she was teaching during the semester. I also had her for the 2315 lab, and also a wonderful class to be in. A+!!

Fantastic chem teacher, but the tests are ridiculous. Less than 50 minutes to complete 6 solid pages of organic chemistry makes the tests less about how well you know the material, and more about how much material you've already done. Would have done a lot better if class was 10 minutes longer on test days.

You will never find a better Ochem teacher. Going into this year, I thought Ochem would be the course I'd have to devote the most studying to, but it's definitely not. She actually teaches you, and the problems in homework/discussion sets align well with tests. This class solidified my desire to go into chemistry.

she always makes students nervous before tests coming. Especially, at the end of semester, you will have midterm3. She taught chapter 10 in two days and chapter 11 in one day right before test and it will be on the test. Also, right before midterms she uploaded tons of stuff that makes you very nervous as well. STRESSFUL!

Holly is probably the best teacher I've ever had. Everything she does helps you succeed. She is a hilarious, honest, and enthusiastic lecturer and she will take the time necessary for you to understand the answer to your question in person. She is extremely good at slowly building on practical concepts throughout the course. She is simply awesome.

Holly is amazing. Makes O Chem a very accessible subject. Extra credit EVERY week, totally saved my grade. Exams can be rough--she likes to throw unfamiliar reagents/reactions in for fun. But meet her after the test and go over it; often times, she'll give you back points on some problems if she thinks you deserve it. Super nice & approachable lady

She expects a great amount from you as the student to go and learn outside of class. In class clickers are free points. Tons of optional/extra credit homework assignments that you can do to help buffer your grade. Tests and quizzes are very difficult, but doable if you study. Definitively use your book and be ready to work a lot.

TA was a pain in the ass, but she normalizes grades and offers a ton of extra credit. Lectures were amazing and very clear. She requires you to turn a lot of things in, so other than some occasional confusion over grading, the lab was an easy A.

Holly was an awesome instructor. Expectations are very clear, and she really does her best to make sure all of her students are successful. Extra credit is helpful, and her grading policy makes success attainable for everyone. Go to class, study early and often, and do your work and you will pass. Definitely the best class i have taken at the U!

Holly is one of the all time best instructors I've ever had. She WANTS you to succeed. Organic chemistry is really hard and she expects you to know it backwards and forwards, but she does EVERYTHING in her power to help you. Tests are brutal, but do all the optional homework (its also extra credit), and use the TA's! Best choice of instructor.

If you're reading this review, just take Holly's class. I have NEVER had a teacher more knowledgeable and passionate for a subject while being so kind, caring, and willing to help you succeed. Best professor I've ever had. She is so kind and will spend hours with you till you get the material. She gives the most amazing pep-talks before all the exams. Her lectures are clear and she focuses on developing a deep concept of the material rather than memorizing. There is an army of TAs too! They are so helpful! Best class I ever took!

This was a 2 credit lab and it seemed like it should have been a 10 credit lab. She makes you do so many stupid things for this lab and the lab write ups are ridiculous. Prepare to do bad on her quizzes before every lab that are done individually and not with your lab partner. Don't take this lab with any other heavy classes.

Holly was nice and helpful. She gives tons of extra credit and your final exam score can replace your final grade. I didn't study way too much for this class and I did well on the tests and on the final and felt the class was reasonable. I would take Holly over any of the other professors. Just keep up with the material and you'll be fine.

Holly is an amazing professor! Going into organic chemistry was frightening and she made her expectations absolutely clear. She provides everything you will ever need to succeed in the course however it is up to you to take advantage of it. Attendance isnt mandatory however, its easier to understand if you do go! Dont expect an easy A, work for it.

I think this professor may be a little overrated. She had so many examinations that you didn't have time to study 4 them. Personally, I thought she gave an excessive amount of hw and it didn't help a lot. And yeah sure, it was ec but her exams are long and the time is short. You're bound to need the ec. I suggest you don't take it with her but ydy.

Holly is a fabulous lecturer. Even having taken the Honors O Chem sequence, I still uncovered some new details of reactions I had learned in the previous semester. The labs were fun and long (but totally worth it). Her quizzes are easy (if you attend lecture and do your pre lab). Her class teaches you to be a better practising chemist.

Holly is phenomenal. She's one of the rare breed of professors who truly want you to understand organic chemistry. She is engaging in her lectures, and her tests are really hard, so be prepared to work. But she 100% gives you all the materials you need (plus more)-recorded lectures, extra charts, reaction sheets, tutorials, websites, past exams

Holly is probably one of the more challenging O-Chem professors at the U, but she is undoubtedly the best professor I have ever had. She has high expectations because she wants you to succeed, and she has a deep love for her students and the subject. Definitely take O Chem 1 and 2 with her!

Holly is incredible. Her lectures are very informative, and she's great at answering questions. Redoing the discussion worksheets and PDQ's is really helpful for the tests. The tests have a pretty short time limit, but they're doable if you understand how to apply the concepts to new situations. I took 2310, 20 and 25 from her. Loved all of them.

Do yourself a favor and take ochem from Holly. She is such an amazing, passionate, and caring teacher who genuinely wants all her students to succeed even beyond academics. Her class isnt easy, it requires doing PDQs, discussion worksheets, homework problems and more, but its worth it. Take this class from Dr. Sebahar!

Holly has the right idea for teaching a class, but makes it harder than is required to learn the subject. Her tests are generally unfair and tricky. She also requires some memorization that is not translatable to real life job use. Busy work is common, I suggest taking it from Rainier.

Do not take O chem 2 lab with Holly! You will end up hating your entire semester, and spend more time studying for lab than the actual class. I took o chem 2 with a different professor and got an A, but had Holly for lab and it was horrible. The post labs are brutal, the TAs didn't help much. Way too much work and time for a 2 credit lab.

Prof. Sebahar is one of the better professors you can have for o-chem, albeit the most challenging. She is very engaged in your learning but will pile the work on you to ensure you understand it. Be prepared to spend a lot of time on the class but, again, you will walk away with a great understanding. The tests, however, are advanced.

Go to class to do the tophat questions. Do the smith homework weekly for extra credit. Read the textbook before class. Utilize tutoring center for PDQs. Go to SI sessions for practice exams. Usually offers extra credit for exam corrections. Never went to office hours, but heard it's helpful.

Holly was an amazing professor for OChem 1 and 2, I did well in both. Her class is not easy, it may be one of the hardest organic chemistry classes, but she gives you all of the resources you need to do well. I failed a test my first semester and still managed an A-, lots of extra credit opportunities. Take advantage of TA's and her office hours!

Most amazing professor I've ever had. She really cares about her students and is passionate about organic chemistry. Course work is intense, PDQ, discussion sheets, long and really difficult exams, lot's of hw, but little in the way of memorization, and more towards the WHY - fundamental understanding. She's the reason I absolute LOVE ochem

By far the best chemistry professor I have had. Gives fantastic explanations of why things happen and encourages problem solving rather than memorization. Tons of resources and TA's allow anyone who puts the work in to succeed in this course. I feel she makes what could be a challenging class completely manageable.

I absolutely LOVED Professor Sebahar. One of the greatest professors I have ever had. The only issue I have with is class is that it is a flipped course. Meaning that you teach yourself 1/2 of the stuff you need to know. Only reason I got the grade I got is because of the textbook. If this class was not flipped It would have been my favorite class

Went from a B in Ochem 1 to A in Ochem 2. Holly is very understanding of life circumstances and has a charismatic personality. She want's everyone to succeed and does everything she can to accommodate to students' needs. She's the reason why most students in the class get A/A-. Made learning ochem stress-free.

Holly is the best chemistry professor (or any subject for that matter) that I have ever had. I have never felt more cared for by a teacher and her supporting cast of TA's than in Holly's class. It is not an easy subject but the number of resources she provides is unmatched. She made learning online (quarantine) easier than ever. Take her class!

Wouldn't take again

Took ochem1 got a B-, had rough patch in life. In ochem2 can't get a bit of help from Holly or TA's. Spent easily 300$+ on personal tutors. Answers are class specific (no google). Getting a B- she said I should rethink med school cuz I'm sturggling. She treats this as a 20 credit hour class, be warned.

Anyone who gives Dr. Sebahar a bad rating is someone who didn't try. She gives SO MUCH extra credit. If you pay attention in class, go and do the PDQ's and PS, YOU WILL GET AN A! She cares so much about her students and TA's, her lectures are fun and interactive. Best ochem professor at the U.

Professor Sebahar was one of, if not the best professors I have had the opportunity of being taught from at the U. She and her team of TAs make the class experience so supportive in a subject that can seem very daunting going in. No matter how good a prof. is, OCHEM is gonna be hard, but she truly believes in every student's ability to succeed!

Holly has an incredible support system of TAs and offers scheduling for one-on-one instruction if needed. She is very understanding and accommodating. She cares about her students and their success, and puts in the time and effort to make that happen. O chem is a very difficult class for many, but if you follow Holly's suggestions, you'll do well.

She has one of the largest bodies of undergraduate TAs at the U. There is so much help in her class and she makes herself as available as possible to students needing extra help. You will not do well if you don't go to lecture. Her class is not homework heavy. OChem is difficult. You will spend 10 hours/week outside of lecture studying to get an A.

Holly is by far the best professor Ive had at the U, and her *literal* army of TAs are incredible. She is super easy to talk to, and always gives good feedback, or good suggestions how to study better. I attended almost every lecture, but I had friends who came to a lot fewer and they did much worse in the class. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT, it will help

AMAZING TAKE W/HER. Ochem wasn't hard for me but Holly just made class so motivating and fun. Gave you so much room to mess up and recover (AKA THE EXTRA CREDIT). I have never loved a class so much. Does require at least 10hr/wk like she says so make the time or take this another semester. So many TA all different but all great in their own way!

Holly is simply the best Ochem professor you can get. She has extra credit and doesnt throw curveballs on tests. She always had exam scores given back a day after the exam. She is caring and kind and has some cool TAs too. Be sure to find a good study group because I met some of my best friends in this class!

Holly is an amazing professor who really does care about each of her students. All of the homework assignments are extra credit. I did mediocre on the exams, but ended with an A because of all the extra credit that I got. Exams aren't too hard, especially since she gives you practice exams that are formatted almost identically to the exam.

Dr. Sebahar hands down is the most caring professor I have ever had. She is always willing to work with you and her army of TAs provide countless office hours to get any and all questions answered. I took 17 credits and still managed to do well thanks to her student success attitude. Amazing teacher, amazing class.

Amazing class! I took it on a whim to get a break from my Art history classes and ended up falling in love with O chem! Changed my major to chemistry because of this class! Pre med kids always complain O chem is so hard but its not that bad!

Professor Sebahar is the reason I decided to major in chemistry. She is incredibly kind and more than willing to work with students. Her teaching method is refined and oriented to help students actually learn organic chemistry, not punish them for being unknowledgeable.

Professor Sebahar is an angel in disguise. She cares about her students and she is so passionate about what she teaches which make lectures easier. The course load is rigorous but she gives you every opportunity to succeed. All homework is extra credit and the 50+ TAs host office hours frequently. Do not take OChem from anyone other than Holly!

Professor Sebahar is one of the best professors you could take as an undergrad at the U. She's clearly very passionate about the content she teaches. Orgo is a notoriously difficult class, but if you can put in the effort you will be ready for all of her quiz/exams (~64% of our final grade). Each homework assignment is worth extra credit.

Get ready to replace the Oxygen you breathe with Ochem because you are gonna be occupiedddd with this class. Holy is an amazing professor, funny, caring, and passionate. She is the best professor to take OChem with but be prepared to practice a ton outside of class. AND USE her TAs. There are over 50 of them!!!

Sebahar is a great teacher. She has many TA's who are very helpful and host many events outside of class to help students learn. Holly is a fun and understanding person, her lectures are great, and she gives out a lot of extra credit if you put in a little extra work. While Ochem can be a difficult course for some, the grading and tests are fair.

Her lectures are clear and she doesn't present the material in an overly complicated way like lots of STEM professors typically enjoy doing. I love Holly! One of the only professors I believe that actually love to teach. She always explains everything down to the bone and makes O Chem not so bad! Make sure you put time in your week to study because it can be confusing! TA's are amazing help and there are so many help sessions. Duscussions are meaningful and very helpful.

It is obvious that Professor Sebahar cares about you, and the course seems to have been set up for success. Extra credit opportunities do exist. Easy to know what the exams or quizzes will be like, as there are practice ones provided that are very similar.

I started to dislike chemistry before taking OChem with Holly, her class made me enjoy it again. One of the best professors I've had at the U. Tons of extra credit available which is lovely, and removes the stereotype that OChem is just "one of those classes that is hard to do well in". If you try to succeed in Holly's class, you likely will.

Holly is a really nice and caring person. Her pep talks were the best. To anyone taking the class, I would say you need to be ready to put the work in and make sure you ask questions. My biggest complaint would be that the end of the semester was VERY rushed and we had to teach ourself very difficult concepts.

I had to retake this class after taking it with Ming Lee Tang (do not recommend), but Holly was amazing. She actually explains and cares. Don't get me wrong, it's a hard class, but she makes it as easy as it can be. She's so enthusiastic and genuinely wants everyone to succeed. I'm already registered to take ochem 2 with her next semester :)

Terrible, don't take this course with Holly, exam are unfair because her questions are designed to trick you. It doesn't matter how much time you spend studying you have 50 minutes on the exam to solve all her riddles. Graders are merciless.

I cannot say enough amazing things about Holly. Yes, OChem is hard, and I can't say that I necessarily succeeded in it as many of my peers did. However, Holly is genuinely the best professor at this University. She gives you ample resources and tells you how to study for her exams. Not only that, she deeply cares about her students.

Holly assigns a lot of work - you're expected to complete a quiz, a homework assignment, and textbook readings nearly every week - but it's useful and helps you understand the material better. Ochem is not so much hard as it is memorization. Its like learning 4d chess. Holly does go over everything in lecture at least once, She does reiterate a lot of the things that are important. It really is up to you. She loves her job and it shows. Several times throughout the semester it felt overwhelming with what we needed to memorize.

Holly is a nuanced person: cool, professional, and kind. Beneath this facade is a brilliant, ruthless woman, who righteously expects excellence. To me, Holly was very accommodating; I think she might have thought I was mentally disabled. Her lectures are organised, but her style of teaching ochem didn't align with my way of thinking well.

Holly is an amazing professor. I was terrified to take Organic Chemistry but she made the class go smooth. She really knows how to break down difficult concepts and build off of previous information. I appreciated the extra credit opportunities and test drops because it allows room for some failures without destroying your grade.

TAKE THIS CLASS! One of the best chem teachers ever - She changed my life. Textbook optional, but helpful (and online...). Get help from the TAs, and really try to understand your mistakes! The material is hard, and Holly breaks it down really well, but you cannot do well in this course if you do not practice and study. Homework is extra credit.

I took both OChem 1 & 2 from Holly, she is the best of the best. Her class is inherently challenging but she gives you all the tools you need to succeed. She likes to throw curveballs on exams but I truly believe she loves her students and is exhausting all her efforts to prepare them for grad programs and successful careers. Take a class from her!

She means well but her grading is widely strict. She cares about very specific things on tests but will ignore many other important questions. While I succeeded in her class I had to work hard and spent a lot of time memorizing. She made the class much more difficult than it needed to be. Never take a class from her if you can.

I don't even know where to start except don't take her class. She does not curve exams (average on one of the exams was 60). She also grades so strict you could lose 3 points for something you didn't even think you could lose points on. Do not take ochem with Holly.

O Chem with Holly was a good overall experience and I enjoyed the lecture topics, and her teaching style. Even though I enjoyed her class, it was hard. O-Chem is inherently a challenging subject, but Holly made it digestible. I kept an A throughout most of the semester, but it got away from me for both the 3rd and Final exams, I could not keep up.
