She definitely knows her stuff. Sometimes she goes a little too fast, but if you do the workbook and lab work you should be alright. Don't be afraid to ask her questions, she's super friendly. She does take attendance, but has also been known to be a wee bit late to class.
She is a great spanish teacher! The class was a lot of fun.
Fun, fun, fun!!! Very easy and very helpful!
Her only flaw is that she isnt teaching 115 next semester
awesome teacher! take her if you want a cool teacher that likes to have some fun in her class!
She is SO nice!! Very lenient. Helpful and HOT HOT HOT!
shes awesome, and she helps u if u need it, take her!
i had a great time in this class. tons of fun without losing the educational aspect. loves to tell stories about time in mexico. but its okay cause theyre good stories
AWESOME PROF!! i strongly suggest taking her, she makes class interesting and likes everyone. She's a great refresher for those who have had previous experience with Spanish.
Easy as pie!
really cool teacher. all around good person. makes the class fun. however doesnt have the best teaching tactics. but she'd more than happy to help you anytime you needed it. would definitely help if you know some spanish prior to the class.
Great lady, too bad sh is married!
Easy, Clear, and Such a Sweetheart! You won't regret taking her class.
great teacher. she makes spanish fun and interesting.
Great teacher, really explains well. Uses class time effectively. Test are fair. Tries to help everyone understand.
Usually late for the 8 o clock classes but shes awsome anyways so no biggy. Test are easy and she lets us out early usually once or twice a week.
She is really great, its my favorite class, even though I am not doing well (totally my fault) Shes fun!!
She is an amazing teacher. Knows her stuff and wants you to understand. I am doing very well in her class and she is very easy to understand. Tests and quizzes are easy and gives 50 pt. extra credit assignment. There is no way anyone could do poorly in this class.
SHE IS AMAZING! Seriously best Spanish teacher ever. She will do anything to help anyone and we always get out early. I wish she was teaching a higher spanish so I could take her again!
She is a fabulous professor, she really knows her spanish. She is very personable and willing to help. Its a shame she wasn't teaching 115 because that would have been my reason for continuing in spanish.
best spanish teacher, she's fun easy and nice. and at 920 in the morning she doesnt expect you to laugh at her jokes
Good teacher. very interesting and i would reccommend her for spanish
I had her for Spanish 115 and she was great! She's very helpful and understanding. If you can fit her in your schedule and you want a good grade, take her! She's awesome!
Great! Very energetic and helpful woman.
Very helpful and great person. She will explain how to do anything! She loves to talk and the class is mostly in English. Hardly ever does she use spanish except for when we're specifically learning something. Quizzes are very easy if you study for them and pay attention. Very little homework involved! Overall she's the perfect teacher!
She's one of the greatest Spanish teachers. She doesn't give much work aside from the workbook papers. She digresses a lot, but the stuff that she talks about is cool (trips, food, movies, music etc). She's helpful and understanding.
great prof...extremely nice lady. i hated the class but i liked her. she makes her tests harder than the final so you can pass the final.
I would recommend this professor to anyone that needs first-year Spanish. She's extremely helpful, kind, interested in her field, relatable, and an all-around great teacher/person. Show up to class on time, do the homework, and participate every now and then and you're set!
Greatest teacher ever. She will go out of her way to help students understand the material. Very nice and personable.
I would highly recommend this teacher. She's not a native speaker, so she can explain things well for those who are new to Spanish. There are A LOT of quizzes, but she goes over everything and will answer any questions (even on the day of exams). It's not gonna be easy, but she'll help to make it a little more tolerable. Very funny!
Prof Walker was fun to lot at and helped my learn to roll my "r"s
She is the best prof i have ever had! Funny, great with explanations, made the class fun. I wish i would have had her for 114 too. There are only 4 quizes. You have to know what you're doing but she is fair and never tries to trick you. YOU MUST TAKE HER!!!
Very nice and HOT! First professor I ever had in college and was very happy. Most of class was in english and she was very HOT. Very helpful and clear as well as HOT. Did I mention she was HOT?! One of the only professors I would want to get some extra credit from but I did so well in the class I didn't need it. TAKE HER!
Holly Walker is one of the sweetest teachers I have ever had. She's really fun and really easy. I took her for a 7 week summer course and had no problem with the accelerated curriculum. She explains everything well. Oh...and she's pretty cute. But married...
Prof. Walker is very nice. Take her. Her quizzes are very easy. She is very funny and approachable. TAKE HER. I had her for SPN 114 got a 3.7
Spanish isn't easy, but with Walker it's sooo much better. She explains everything and is very willing to meet with you outside of class for extra help. I hadn't taken Spanish in three years and got a god grade. Attendance isn't mandatory, but going to class definitely helps. she does get off topic a lot, but she is funny- awesome professor!
Really nice, understanding, and helpful! If you haven't taken spanish before it will be challenging, but doable... I took two years in highschool and it was a breeze with only minimal new information! WOULD RECOMMEND!
Very easy class for those who have taken spanish before (like myself) however, if i had never taken it I would be completely lost. You get points for going to class. Tests are very easy, as is the minimal homework. She rarely speaks in spanish unless she is going over the vocab.
awesome teacher and easy class. it helps if you've had spanish before. homework and tests are easy. you get points for attendance ... have fun!
Very good spanish professor. Doesn't give too much work and tests/quizzes are simple. I didn't really try in the class and still managed to get a 3.8. :)
pretty simple prof. do bi-weekly homework booklet and tests. helps to have taken spanish prior. participation points earned by attending class
She is a very nice person and the class was really easy, but i learned nothing from the class. She often stumbles over her own words while speaking spanish. She's just not suited for teaching upper level spanish. She needs to leave that to the fluent speakers.
good professor, attendance and participation is part of your grade, doesn't give out too much homework, very helpful and nice, will give extra crd assignment to class, 5 simple quizzes + final, having had spanish before taking this class helps a lot, she's always happy :) and likes to teach spanish very much....overall I highly recommend taking her
Favorite teacher so far at Oakland University. She is so funny, and engages in conversations and makes class really fun. I did not like spanish itself but I loved coming to class to laugh and have fun. She is super nice and forgiving. and very flexible with your schedule for retakes etc. Can't say enough good things, but I am really going to miss he
This class was a waste of time! She's too busy getting her phd to care about her class. I felt like I was in highschool...I learned nothing!
Amazing teacher. Very smart and very helpful. The class is easy. She is very funny and gets along with everyone. Take her!
Easy class if you already know some spanish. If not, it may be a little more difficult. She goes through the material pretty quickly but like I said, if you know even common spanish words you'll most likely be okay. Had six chapter quizzes plus a final. Has weekly online activities due on Wednesdays. Ended up with a 3.9. Fun class. TAKE HER!
I LOVED her. She is very passionate about what she does and because of that she teaches exceptionally well. I admit that if you do everything that she assigns you just need to glance over the material for the test and you will do fine. I would recommend that anyone taking Spanish take it with her. She is one of the best professors I've had so far!
Spn114. Very good teacher. Passionate about Spanish. Knowledgeable, very willing to assist-quick response to questions. Easy to understand her-clear about instructions. Great personality - easy to like. Test and quizzes in line with instruction and text book content. Highly recommend this professor. I wish she was teaching SPN115.
Awesome prof! Super nice and easy to like. She gets to know her students. Would defiantly take another class from her.
Best spanish teacher I have ever had. Super funny and very helpful. She is very clear with what she expects and makes the class really interesting. She makes you want to learn spanish and want to come to class. I loved this class!
sooo easyyyyyyyyyyy and shes realllllllly nice, she actually gives 2 cares about her students and even learns your name. She has a good heart and would recommend her to anyone.
so my exam grades, were 91, 81, 76, 74, 68, 100 (40 point EC for the 100 exam. I ended up with a 3.7 in the class... professor is very helpful and funny. take her
I definitely recommend her!!! So nice and easy to talk to. Cares about students and very helpful! Take her!
One of the best professors I have ever had. She's hilarious and super helpful! Nothing bad at all to say about her.
She was awesome! I hate Spanish but really enjoyed her class! I would highly recommend her!
SUCH a great professor!! Definitely makes everything clear and easy to learn. Very willing to help and work with you to help you succeed. She's very passionate about Spanish; both the language and the culture and she will make you enjoy this class even if Spanish isn't your thing. Take her!!
omg, She was such a great teacher. She as willing to help us with anything. When you emailed her, she got back to you really fast with any questions you had. BEST TEACHER EVER !
I seriously wish she taught every gen ed I take @ OU. She was hilarious & actually made 8 ams something to look forward to (not kidding) & I miss her :(. The online hw will take you a long time BUT the class is easy. Just pay attention, do the hw, study for like 10-20 min a day & youre golden. Without question shes the spanish prof you want to have
She's amazing! She's a lot of fun, she talks to the class casually, you can tell she loves her job. She shares a lot of her spanish stories and experiences. Workload is light. Take her class! I'm bummed she's not teaching the second half of 114
Love love LOVE her class! One of the best teachers I ever had at OU. Made Spanish a lot more enjoyable!
She is really nice and makes class fun. However, if you have not taken Spanish before this class will be hard. She doesn't spend a lot of time on subjects and goes through things pretty fast. If you have to take Spanish though I would highly recommend her, you just need to make sure that you stay on top of things.
This was an easy class for me because i had spanish in high school, but i felt bad for the people who had never taken it before because she wasn't very helpful and she went through the grammatical concepts pretty fast. she is also lazy with grades. doesnt use Moodle!! If you study for a couple hours before the test, you'll be fine though.
Holly is so nice and funny! You can tell she really wants students to do well and NOT be miserable. Gives students many opportunities to succeed. Best professor I've had at Oakland.
This was my 1st time taking SPN so class was difficult for me. A few in class writing assignments but all the hw was online. I made my brother do it... The exams were alright. She tells you exactly what's on them. Making flashcards help. Two group projects that are really easy. Wants you to succeed--offers extra credit. Definitely need the book.
I really enjoyed her class. She was generally always in a good mood and joked around with us a lot. There was an exam every two weeks but she was always clear as to what would be on them. I would definitely recommend her!
I absolutely LOVE her. She is awesome. I would recommend her any day of the week. The class is really easy if you took Spanish prior to this course. Even if you did not take Spanish before, you learn a lot in the class and she makes it fun.
She is really nice and funny. She always makes jokes and talks to her students like they are her friends. She knows all her students names. Her exams are easy if you have had spanish previously. She goes over and tells you what will be on it. Just watch out for the Culture! That is the toughest part.
I only have one word for her…WOW. Holly Walker is a God sent angel. She is truly the most amazing person, and professor. She is so nice, funny, personable, and will go out of her way always to make sure her students are happy. Take a class with her before you graduate OU, or regret it for the rest of your life. I LOVE HER.
Hands down the best Spanish professor I've ever had. Taking her again next semester I loved her so much. So thorough, explains each topic very clearly and makes sure everyone fully comprehends without making you feel stupid. Aside from Spanish, she is such a down to earth sweetheart. She will talk to you about anything! Love her. TAKE HER
She was amazing. Very nice and personable. The online assignments are extremely annoying, but you have to do them no matter what professor you take. I never really studied but I still got an A. She is super nice and acts like everyone's friend. We almost always got out of class 30 minutes early.
I think the highest grade I got on an exam was a C. I hate Spanish. But I ended up with a 3.7 idk how that happened but take her.
She's funny and nice. Really wants everyone to learn and succeed. Has students best interests at heart. Take her class. She is so wonderful. She keeps it real. Remember to study for the culture sections on the test! 1year later & i am able to tutor a high school freshman because of what I learned in her class!
Very nice teacher!! She wants everyone to do well so she's there for you. If you go to class and pay attention you will be fine.
I did not know my grade until she posted them after the final exam was taken, I have never taken Spanish before so it was extremely difficult for me. She went through lectures really fast and were hard to understand. She was very nice and understanding but every time I emailed her she took forever to get back with me.
Holly Walker Cote was a good teacher. There is a lot of homework on connect Spanish that can be hard and frustrating. Do it on time and make sure you have enough time because your grade will drop quickly if you forget you can still bring it back up though. There is a test every 2 weeks. Go to her office hours if you need help. She takes attendence
A foreign language credit was never required of me in high school, so it was extremely tough for me to take in college with no experience. All I can say is make friends who know Spanish, because Walker mostly expects everyone to have already taken Spanish before. But if you see her in her office hours, she does try and help you out.
The class is not bad as long as you show up to class. She takes daily attendance and you get participation points for being there. The exams are not bad and she goes over what you need to know before the exam. There is a lot of homework. Only negative thing about her is that I didn't have a grade until final grades were sent out.
Professor Walker is extremely disorganized. We've had multiple deadlines pushed back because she straight up forgot to give the assignments in the first place. That being said, she is very nice and is very knowledgeable about what she teaches. The online program she uses has a ton of homework, so expect to spend multiple hours completing it.
Takes attendance every day. 1 group project, 1 extra credit paper, 5 tests total, online homework(30min-1hr depends on day)due every mon wed fri. Goes over what will be on test class before (listening, multiple choice, short answer, fill in blank). Really knows her stuff, fairly easy just keep up on hw bc grade lowers if late!) partner work 2
Professor Walker is very knowledgeable and knows how to teach Spanish. Like many profs at OU, she will lecture heavily in Spanish. She helps out a lot and won't rush past material that class doesn't get. A lot of online hw and a test on each chapter with one cumulative final. Only complaint is she didn't show up on a couple key dates w/ no email.
Im not usually great at Spanish but its not hard to do well here as long as you do the online homework. Its time-consuming, but helps for learning & reviewing the content. She says in advance what topics will be on each test too. Sra. Walker is very nice, & knowledgeable about the language & culture. If I could take her class again I would! :)
She depended on the textbook and never showed us grades on the writing assignments. She is a very nice person, but I did not like her teaching style.
Holly Walker is a solid teacher and was pretty funny most of the time. She has a great personality and the online homework she assigns can all be found on quizlet
She's super nice and chill and easy. She explains what's going to be on each test so take notes while she says that. Easy A if you do the homework and prepare your short essay questions (there's one on each test- about 6-10 sentences). Going to class is pointless if you're doing the homework but fortunately, she takes attendance.
I absolutely adore Holly! She is so kind and knowledgable about not only Spanish, but just life in general. She genuinely wants you to succeed. Her husband is a high school teacher and used to be a professor at OU. He is from Spain and that is where they met and her love of the Spanish language has continued ever since. Great teacher, great person.
Prof Walker is very sociable and approachable. She's super chill in class with the students. Although, she doesn't really teach the material but rather reads over the textbook. She tells you what is on the test, but doesn't really prepare you- there are still surprises at times. The class is totally manageable, but I wish she taught more actively.
I enjoyed Professor Walker-Cotés lectures. She made learning Spanish fun! She did take a long amount of time to get tests back, but its not that big of a deal. Usually got out of class early, which was a bonus. I would recommend taking her!
Walker is the best!!! She's super funny and easy going, but knows her stuff really well. I learned a lot but also had a great time in class.
Really easy class and she's really nice. Only bad thing I'd have to say is she cancelled class a couple times but it was like an hour before the class, so it was annoying if your a commuter. Other than that really easy grader and tells you everything that's going to be on the test. Fun and easy class I recommend her.
Loved Professor Walker. I learned a lot from her class while not feeling too overwhelmed and am so happy I got the chance to take her class. There was weekly writing assignments, a test every week and a final project with VHL homework but if you space it all out it goes by quickly and doesn't take long.
Class was average. She is a very mediocre professor, yet very nice and generous with grading. Class format is identical to other Spanish classes at Oakland and an easy A.
Holly walker is a nice lady, very personable. BUT besides being a nice lady our semester started online, only held class twice. Her course to be unorganized. Her Moodle page was set for the wrong semester, Chapters where posted weeks apart. The course has all its work online along with assignments she posts separately on Moodle. Very Frustrating.
easily one of my favorite professors at oakland so far. She was very nice and very friendly and made the lectures enjoyable to attend. The class itself was not hard so long as you put in a little bit of work studying on things like quizlet. I plan to take her for spanish 2 as well. Attendance is mandatory but the workload is light.
She is a great teacher and gives lots of time in class to practice speaking with partners and do activities. Most classes are not lecture and very laid back. Great classroom experience. Highly Recommend for anyone doing introductory Spanish.
