This is my favorite teacher of all time, thumbs up to Homer B. He is kinda tuff, but you wont regret this class.
Great intro class. Good info, but not overwhelming or too much math as astro can sometimes be. A big time commitment.
great teacher, very helpful and caring
20 yrs later I still think of this instructor as one class act. Tough, but so worth it. Probably the best instructional value I have ever had.

Loved him! Seriously one of my better college classes--and I hate science so thats saying something!!
Homer I love your class, defenately not easy, but you make it very interesting! Your the best teacher I have ever had!!!
Awesome teacher. Funny as hell!

Still remember his humor made me want to go to class and learn (after 25 years)!! Super!
Mr. Bosserman was an outstanding physics professor. 19 years after taking his class I still think back to those wonderful, fun and stimulating lectures. Homer you're an Outstanding human being.
i think he'd do a rad impression of harry carey.....he's so wicked sick.
Best Teacher at MPC, if you don't like him, you need a therapist.

This guy kicked ass!! I had him 2 semesters & TA'd for him another semester.

Homer's class is the best memory you'll have coming out of MPC. Take it!
Homer's class rocked my face, and if you know whats good for you, you'll take it. <3, a lab aid
Homer is a real great teacher, great person, and great homie! I recommend that EVERYONE should take his class!
Homer is the coolest prof MPC has ever seen.. i know, ive done research.

A MUST TAKE CLASS! Homer is funniest guy ever and he astounds you with his brilliant mind. It will be a very sad day when Homer leaves the MPC campus.
Best teacher on the planet.

Best MPC Prof. EVER!
funny funny man
Bosserman is a kickass teacher and keeps the class interesting -- look forward to it every MTWF.. too bad i dont have it Th too
BOSSERNOVA!
He is the best teacher!
The coolest teacher ever!!!
Cool Teacher, Very Helpful
one of the most interesting and humorous teachers around, he never ceases to astound you with his very unique sense of humor, and don't worry, it will be just as good in the upcoming years, since i heard he tells the same jokes every year (eg: he takes the quizes home to daddy)
Very nice, awesome class. he is a cool teacher!!
Bosserman ur real funny and a good teacher
Awesome teacher, clear, funny, helpful and I never had one problem with class, i learned a lot and did well cuz he was a great teacher, highly recommed him.
Mr. B is the greatest prof I've ever had!
This guy is unbelievable. So animated in everthing he does. He's crazy enough to help you retain all of the required information to pass his class. But he's no slouch and doesn't let anyone slide. His test's are not easy either. His is actually a pretty challenging class. For the passionate, it doesn't make much difference though. Much preparation before exams is required. I highly reccommend taking any of his classes for an unforgettable learning experience.
Excellent teacher, quite the comedian.
Very fun teacher! Must be one of my favorites since elementary... he's always joking and if you're a visual learner, you'll love him! Always has an upbeat attitude and shows his passion in his field. I highly recommend this class for a science.. you won't regret it.. TRUST ME!! You'll love this teacher even if you don't care much for the subject!
He is very very very funny!! I love him!!
I like Mr. Bosserman, but tonight he yelled at me. He can be very nice, but sometimes he loses his temper and walks out of class. I think it is really unfair. He also let's the jocks get away with almost anything. So if you are a jock and need a science class, take this one.
I just looked at the rating and was surprised to see the same as what i was going to say. He is likable, but he gets so made and swears at the class. Said he gets no respect, but you must act respectable first, Mr. Bosserman. You are a angry man. maybe you need to retire since that is what you were yelling about.
Mr. Bosserman is a funny, however, I think he is mean! I think Mr. Allen Andrews should take over and teach the class. Allen is much more helpful and NOT A MEAN PERSON!
He's funny...easy class...makes life easy
Homer is funny and means well. However, he could use that extra energy to pay attention that other students are struggling to understand the subject.
Yes, Mr. Bosserman can be a little harsh sometimes, but if one is respectful and doesn't waste his time he seems helpful enough. The class overall is EXTREMELY interesting. Mr. Boss's lectures are totally awesome and he keeps things informative but understandable. I'm actually sad this class is over, and am much more interested in Astronomy now...
I became more interested in this subject because of this class. This professor seems to be passionate about Astronomy.
BE ON TIME!!!
Excellent Teacher!
One of the best teachers ive ever had. I had no interest in astronomy whatsoever when i first signed up for this class, but he got me really interested in the subject. I highly suggest taking his class.
Homer rocks
This class was so much fun, especially the overnight field trip to Lake San Antonio! He has a great sense of humor and cares about his students success. Take this class!
By far the greatest teacher I ever had.
Homer Bosserman is the man, and not just because he knows what he's talking about when it comes to his subject. He is a brilliant whirlwind of pure distilled awesome, and his presence can make lesser mortals fear for their very brains. A single deftly placed pun can make any classroom bow to his will, and he has the sweetest ride on campus to boot.
Respect him and follow the rules and he'll respect you back. Break the rules and prepare for a world of hurt. Straightforward, fun class overall
Boss is a savage!! Fun class to take if you need science course.
Mr. Bosserman is the BOSS!!!!
Homer Bosserman is an absolutely top notch teacher. He is clear, organized, prepared, and very entertaining. Bosserman is the best teacher at MPC. If you can take a class with Bosserman, by all means do so. Most teachers are ill prepared for their classes and therefore quite confusing, and confused. Bosserman understands Physics and science. A+
Mr. Bosserman is the BOSS!!!! He knows his stuff.
coolest guy ever!! great teacher. there will be no sleeping in this class. always doing something amazing
Arguably the best teacher at MPC. Loves what he does and knows the stuff inside and out. Comes to class prepared and gets you all the information you know. Makes class fun and accessible. Loves students and is easy to make friends with. His years of experience show.
Bosserman makes learning fun. He'll get you to laugh at least once per lecture. One of the most laid back/coolest professors you'll ever have. Go to lectures so you know what he covered, sometimes he skips material. He's not afraid to call you out and don't get on his bad side because he'll let you know when you are. Take a class before its too lat
Professor Bosserman is such an amazing teacher that it makes the rest of your classes painfully lacking.
the class was fun. I learned a ton of information regarding astronomy and it was definitely an eye-opener. However, Homer plays favorites with the jocks and recruits them to his class (especially the baseball players). So beware for a distracting/obnoxious group of athletes in the class.
Bosserman is a world class teacher and it is an amazing stroke of fortune that he works at MPC. Testing is based accurately on material presented in class. Like other brilliant people he possesses the ability to explain the worlds most complex concepts with clear simplicity. Such a superb teacher that the learning is fun and easy.
I have been to Berkeley for a B.A. and to NYU for a M.A. and can state unequivocally that Homer Bosserman is one of the best teachers I ever had in my life. He is so inspiring that few teachers could ever measure up to his standard. Just a gem! (And a genius...)
Homework can take you a whole day... it's super long and tedious. But he is quite helpful, and crystal clear in his lecture. Always try to make you laugh in every lecture. This is hands down the toughest class you will ever take at MPC. Even though, I wish he was the instructor for 3A and 3B. Wei's 3A and 3B will under-prepare you for this class...
Hands down man is a genius. Some of the material he covers is a little hard to digest and understand, but you are having trouble he is very approachable especially in office hours
Funniest teacher at MPC! He's the best! His lectures are really interesting and he actually wants to get to know students. He lets you bring a cheat sheet to tests, very few hw assignments, and most labs are pretty fun. You are definitely missing out if you haven't taken astronomy with him.
So if you are a jock you will get preferential treatment...period.So if your a jock and you need an A come to this class. I did learn some but the aids weren't very helpful or knowledgeable. I think they should have to take a test on their knowledge of the subject before assisting in it. Disappointing.
This class and teacher are one of a kind. I took Astronomy in the fall of 2012 and I absolutely loved it. Easy, interesting, and so informative. Take good notes during lecture and attend labs and you will get an A. Homer is an amazing teacher and does his job perfectly.
Awesome class. Super awesome teacher. Go to lecture, go to lab, and you will do just fine. Don't need to ever look at the textbook.
This is a class that will take quite a bit of your time simply in lab and lecture hours. However if you show up to everything and participate you will get a good grade. Easily my favorite class this semester and recomended to those who do not want to take Chemistry and need to fufill a physical science requirement.
Bosserman is a great professor. The entire class is composed of lecture, day lab, and night lab. There were several pop quizzes, 4 exams (including final which was non cumulative), a paper, and lab assignments. Take good notes during lecture and complete labs and you should get a decent grade.
Professor Bosserman is an amazing teacher and I used to run to class just to hear what he had to say. Like many brilliant thinkers, he is easy to understand even when talking about the most complex physics problems. I am still trying to figure out how he ads up numbers by tapping on the chalk board.
Homer is by FAR the best professor I've ever had. He's friggin hilarious, intelligent, lively--I would take his Astronomy class even if I didn't need it to transfer. Exams were a bit challenging, but really not that bad compared to other science dep. courses at MPC. Always show up, take thorough notes and keep them for exams--you'll get an A.
THE MOST RAD PROFESSOR TO EVER LIVE. He is so passionate and hilarious in his lectures and there is never a boring or dull moment. I would wake up happily going to that class. NO HW either! Tests are super easy just review the notes and show up, because he quotes silly theories he puts in the tests (why wouldnt you wanna show up to begin with) !
He can be a funny teacher but also comes of as condescending and a bit of a know-it all.
Nice class, nice guy, really a teacher you need to have if you go to MPC. Most different and unique teacher I have had. Do your work, or his exams will be your nightmare. Genius and hilarious guy. Sad to see Homer leave MPC after 50 illustrious years. There will never be another Homer Bosserman.
1. You have to go to class. He notices. 2. Do your homework. Chegg is only for checking answers. (Trust me.) 3. Do your homework again before a test - he normally takes questions from there. 4. Gives lots of graded events, so if you screw one thing up you can recover. Great guy, great teacher, always there to talk or help.
Homer Bosserman is nothing short of a legend. He definitely knows Physics and his lectures are super clear. He's retiring, so there's not much point in writing this, but I love the guy. So there.
I was a student of Homer Bosserman in 1969 and 1970 when he was young, hilarious, and drove a 1968 blue Porsche. I am sure that he is still hilarious, but expect him to be driving another fast car. Mr. Bosserman changed my future, and because of his inspiration I remembered and used what I learned from him and have had a wonderful career. ASC
Homer showcases his knowledge and love of physics in his lectures. Though he goes fast in lectures, he always has time outside of class to work with you. He loves his students and is always there to help you with academics or anything else that might be bothering you. I'll never have another teacher like Homer, he was an inspiration.
I wish I could remember more about the Astronomy class with Mr Bosserman. I love that professor. Taught much about the science, life and living with his perceptive thoughts in astronomy. He always got my full attention. BTW, I got to ride in his Porsche on the way back from an overnight field trip in 1970. I will never forget that.
Homer Bosserman is the most inspiring teacher that I have ever studied with. Thank you, Homer!
Thank you, Homer! I always looked forward to your classes and learned a great deal that has helped me along my journey. :)
Took Physics 131 from Homer Bosserman, 36 years ago in that glorious spring semester of 1987. An absolute GENIUS. The most fun I've ever had in a physics class. His dedication and enthusiasm were taken right out of the very TOP drawer. For me, no college professor has ever topped him IMHO. God bless you Mr. Bosserman wherever you are.
Want to know what a great teacher looks like? The average teacher is so far removed from what Bosserman taught. Generations will benefit from him
