Fantastic teacher! All her lectures are powerpoint and she posts them on etudes for download. There are 2 quizzes on etudes which you can take twice so you can get 100%. Her midterm and final are open note, open book. Half the questions are exactly from the quiz! Super easy teacher plus she is VERY interesting. I hated history, but now I love it.
She's always there for you and helps her students out as much as she can. I would love to have her class again! She is really passionate about what she teaches and is involved with things that happen around the world up-to-date.
She relates topics to recent events in the world which makes it interesting. She is always organized honest and clear on how she feels about topics and makes sure that you are comfortable to give your own opinion as well. She expects to hear feedback or questions from the class during lectures. It is vital to do your papers so that you can pass!
Professor Herrera-Thomas is an amazing professor. MUST TAKE HER CLASS. Allows you to re-write your papers if you are unhappy with your grade. Very clear on her expectations. YOU ACTUALLY LEARN HISTORY. Not taught the traditional way but taught a more modern way. MUST TAKE HER CLASS. I would take her class again. EYE OPENER. TAKE HER CLASS. AMAZING.
Interesting class, interesting points of views, interesting perspective. Eye opening class. I would take her course again. Clear grading, no test, just papers on the readings which are fairly easy if you pay attention. LOVED the course.
Professor Herrera Thomas is the most amazing teacher I have ever will ever have. She has opened my eyes in so many ways I cannot thank her enough. If you want to be inspired, changed, and more knowlageable about the world we live in, take her! I could go on and on about her! Amazing.
Professor Herrera-Thomas loves what she does. Ties current events, music, videos, articles and gives VIVID examples to History. NO TEST. Just reflection papers,Mid-term Paper and Final Paper which helps with the debate. She is open for conversation on grading, feedback and even the readings. VERY COOL PROFESSOR. WOULD TAKE AGAIN.
I cannot stop thinking about her lectures when I'm going to sleep. Our American history is brought to life in her class. Not exactly textbook history... More like Howard Zinn. Thank God for professors like her.
This Professor is a MUST TAKE Professor. Her style is teaching is unique. Makes you want to go to class to actually know what is next on the lecture. Would take again. Clear grading system. Just reflection papers on readings and lectures. Open to discuss grades. TAKE HER. She is El Camino's DIAMOND in the History Department.
She completely changed my life! After taking her Women's Studies class, I see the world so much differently and she sparked a need in all of her students to bring matters we discussed in class out into the real world. She is the most inspirational, dedicated, and motivated professor I have ever and probably will ever have. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER!!!!
PROF. HERRERA-THOMAS IS AN AMAZING STORY TELLER OF OUR HISTORY. SHE IS REAL PROFESSOR WHO KNOWS WHAT SHE IS TALKING ABOUT. HAS COMPLETELY CHANGED MY PERCEPTION OF LIFE AND HOW I SOCIALIZE AROUND OTHERS. INSPIRATIONAL, MOTIVATIONAL, LIFE CHANGER WHO CAN NEVER LEAVE ECC. SHE IS A PROFESSOR WORTH TAKING. WOULD TAKE HER CLASS OVER AND OVER AGAIN.
Herrera-Thomas is the BEST history professorstory tellerhuman being at ECC. Clear grading system. Is open for conversation about assignments. She works with you as long as you communicate with her. Lecturestopicsreadings are interesting and she keeps the class engaged. As a male taking this course, she kept me focused on material and in class.
Hong is an AMAZING person. She teaches wonderful things and she opens your eyes up. She makes you see what you have and appreciate it. She loves what she does and loves talking to her students. Hong is such an inspiration. Should definitely take if you have any type of personal issues, she'll make you see the world in a different way.
One word to describe Professor Hong "brilliant" loves what she does and is very encouraging.
She is a great teacher. She is always asking if you have questions. She does not assign homework and you don't need the book if you come to class everyday. She has you write short essays at the end of each week instead of hw. They are 250-500 words each and one research paper. Her lectures are very interesting and I learned a lot.
Professor Herrera is an AMAZING teacher. She gives us a different perspective of history and relates the past to recent events. She not only teaches she also inspires and motivates everyone to make a difference. She does class activities that leaves everyone woahed. Be open minded going into her class you will learn a lot.
She is the best history teacher to take during the summer. DON'T be late she gets annoyed. She teaches you differently from any other history teacher. She is totally awesome but don't forget to ask questions.
She is so amazing and she teaches History like in a different but interesting way which is awesome. Any classes that she teaches that you need take her. Every lecture is interesting and she is funny as well.
Great professor and lectures are clear if you ask questions. Just be on time for her classes.
She is an alright teacher and she is not bad at all but she can be strict when assigning the papers. Your answers have to be accurate and it has to make sense but if it does not then she will not give you full credit for it. Great at lecturing but tough on grading the assignments. If you do not mind that then take her.
She is the BEST history professor on campus! She will engage you in lectures and you won't even know you're grading. She's really interactive, hilarious, and you can literally go to her if you have ANY problem!! Definitely would take her a fourth time!
If you are really good at writing essays then this class is for you. If not this is a horrible teacher if you actually want help and to learn. She grades harshly on essays, and does not give extra work to make it up. There are essays and like a couple of extra credit. The essays are easy if you know exactly what she wants in the essays.
Best teacher to take for History 102 if you are a freshman. Essays are not as hard as people had said.
The best teacher I have ever taken at El Camino. Her lectures are so interesting and eye opening! I've never taken away so much from a class. She's very helpful and understanding if you talk to her. IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO BE OPEN TO A NEW PERSPECTIVE HER CLASS IS NOT FOR YOU. Personally loved her class and her essay grading is not harsh at all.
She was a really cool teacher! all of her lectures are really interesting. doesn't assign a lot of homework. she requires a lot of reading but its not that hard. it helps a lot if you speak up in her class. my favorite teacher ever
I FREAKIN LOVE HER! This is the first time in life that a history teacher had actually taught me something--the TRUTH! Very very very grateful
You will not regret taking her class! I cant describe how great she is.
She is the BEST professor community college has to offer. AMAZING lectures, not much homework, reflection papers, participation matters. She knows her history. Loved her style of teaching that I am planning to take her regardless if I don't need the course. TAKE HER!
Loved this course, ties in current events with historical events, open to feedback. She makes you read and has you write reflection papers. She makes you work for the grade you want. would take again.
You need to take a class with Professor Hong.
Great prof. all the assignments she assigns are super easy to do! Her lectures are understandable! I loved her class it was always interesting. If you are having trouble with anything, just e-mail her or speak to her before class.
TAKE HER CLASS! Just TAKE HER! If you absolutely hate history like I once did, TAKE HER and you'll believe again! Just an awesome teacher, and an even greater human! If you weren't paying attention before, T A K E H E R C L A S S!!!
First of all, historys never been my fav subject and going into her class, I thought it was gonna be like any other boring history class. But i was so wrong. She teaches history in a way where it is so easy to understand. She is so passionate at what she does and she wants all her students to succeed. She is my favorite professor at El camino
I usually dont write reviews on here but i had to for Prof Herrera. She is an amazing professor and im so glad theres still teachers out there who love what they do and truly care about their students. I cant put into words how great she is at teaching, you just have to take her to understand. I wake up every morning excited to go to her class
She is pretty clear in what she wants. Lectures are not boring, but she is pretty passionate about what she teaches. Always wants your opinion, and assigns essays. Made us do a research essay for the final, and midterm grade is also another essay. Pretty much all the hw you ever give is essays. Compares history to life and makes one analyze theirs.
easy A, includes males into the conversation. easy to talk to. makes you want to participate... don't buy the book.
Must take her at least once! The book is not necessary! Class was not mandatory but nit was fun to go. Easy A
Mrs. Hong-Herrera is one of the greatest History teachers on campus. I took her History 101 class over summer and it made honestly made me love history. The course itself is interesting and very mind blowing. Definitely take any class you can with Mrs. Hong-Herrera if you get a chance.
She is incredible! History may have been boring in high school but it is a different story with Prof. Hong-Herrera. She often left the class in aww with her lectures. Discover history, life today, and yourself through this course. There was never a dull moment in her class. Participate, read the book, write the essays, and you will be fine.
Let me start this off by saying, SHE IS THE BEST PROFESSOR EVER. I've taken a lot of classes at El Camino, and no one COMPARES to her. Ive always hated history and thought it was so boring, but she made it so fun to come to class. You can tell she wants everyone to be happy and she puts everyone first before herself. Im so glad I had a class w/ her
Professor Hong is a great history professor! I expected this class to be very boring but she really surprised me. She's very passionate about history and relates it very well to present times, and it also helps that she loves her job. There are no quizzes or tests; grading is based on writing assignments. I would recommend being in English 1A & up.
I would say Yes this professor is the best ever i learned so much when i took women studies. she is very clear with her lectures, you will come back each day wanting to learn more. she is second to none !! never boring from start, of the semester to the end. all assignments are on etudes except your final presentation in class.
Professor Hong really cares about the well being of her students. All writing assignments so be prepared to write papers. She has amazing lectures that are relatable both to history and present day. Not your usual history class. Loved her dearly!! Take her class :)
Professor Hong Herrera is the BEST !!!!! i took woman studies i learned so very much it was exciting to go to class every day i really appreciate her style of teaching we all were able to give input into the lecture just Amazing!!! i should have taken her again but ever time i enroll her class fills up fast!! Thank You ! Professor Herrera
This professor proves you can meet amazing people in college. She is mind blowing and very nice. You do the work you get the grade, easy as that. There is not a single boring moment in her class. History always seemed like a dull subject in high school, learning non stop facts but she makes a very pleasant experience.
Professor Hong is one amazing professor. Highly recommend taking her Women's Studies course. Disclaimer: some of the subjects can get intense. I cried often in class, and so did a lot of my classmates. However, none of us wanted to drop the course; Hong is just that amazing!
You really need to take her. Honestly easy A. You only nee the book when you are writing your papers. Papers are 2-3 pages long. Shes such a dope professor!! Love her !! Totally taking another class with her in the winter!! Be aware some some of the topics she talk about are very strong and can trigger you.
she is so awesome I took her for several classes she amazing.
Professor Hong is an amazing person! She makes clear the importance of history and how it has affected our present. She does not sugar code anything, she tell history as is. She is never boring, never dull she will teach you things you never thought you would learn in a history class. 3 Short writing assignments and the final is 5-6 pages. TAKE HER!
Professor Hong is the best professor at El Camino! This class is challenging because of the topics she discusses. She is easy to approach. She does not sugar coat the subjects being taught. Will definitely take her again in her other classes.
She's the best prof ive had at elco! shes straight-forward and doesnt sugar coat the topics. Includes men in her lecture if youre worried about that. only have to do 4 papers, no tests or homework & dont have to read if you dont want to. All her lectures are interesting and you can tell she knows what shes doing! Also inspires you to make a diff :)
Hong is a phenomenal professor to say the very least! She is everything you can want in a teacher seriously!! You will learn a lot about the material, your country (past and present) and even yourself. TAKE HER!!!!!!!!
Hong is an amazing prof! i was always excited to go to class bc i always learned something new. she blew my mind away with her lectures. she's such a realist/ super honest. you will learn a lot in her class, she makes history interesting. she's the reason why i decided to minor in history, before her i hated it! you won't regret taking her.
One of the best professors I have ever taken in college if not the best one yet. Teaches you about so much history and her lectures are amazing. She's very passionate about her job and she is very smart! I recommend her!!
One of the best teachers I've ever taken at camino college! She was extremely interesting and passionate about what she does. Discussions were always interesting and it was a comfortable classroom environment, she definitely taught me a lot!
Hands down she is the best professor I've had at ECC. She teaches you the real, raw, history. Just the right amount to make you get up and make a difference in the world. Take her, you will forever be changed for the better. Just finished her online summer class (literally12am) , a little intense but manageable & worth it!! (EC if you fall behind)
She's absolutely amazing ! she genuinely cares about your opinion and she's very approachable. If you have the chance to take her, you should!!!
Best professor you'll ever take in your life! She is Amazing! She cares about everyone, and you will learn so much from her class! No quizzes, no tests, no exams, really just 2 Primary Source ( 2 page paper) 1 extra Credit Primary Source (Take Advantage of ALL Extra Credit in college!!!!) 2 Essays, and 1 Final. Really easy class! You'll love her!!
I cannot say enough great things about her. Honestly, one of the top best prof at El Camino. She 100% truly cares about every single student in her class. Do not leave El Camino without taking her, trust me. By the end of the semester with her, you will walk about learning alot of history and about yourself.
A history class might sound boring to a lot of students, but Hong makes it different. No tests are given in her classes, only a few short easy papers throughout the semesters. She also gave a lot of extra credit as well, so there is no way that you won't get an A. You will learn a lot from change your perspective on history class.
This was the only history class that I truly enjoyed and understood. She is really clear on what she needs from you and is willing to work with you. I highly recommend this professor. You are required to read a chapter each week but the reading isn't too bad.
Hong is a fantastic professor who accompanies her class with a very easy time. Literally no tests or quizzes at all, just a couple papers. I think it might be impossible to get a B in her class. She is very caring and is willing to help out in any way possible for all of her students. I would take her again in a heartbeat.
I really enjoyed learning from professor Herrera-Thomas. She relates history to current events and really makes you think about how history was really portrayed. There's a lot of work every week, but honestly if you start early, it's not that difficult.
I took her online Women's Studies class and it was a good experience. The class is VERY straightforward, all you have to do is participate every week and you're good. There are only 3 simple essays, no exams. She finds different, non-traditional ways to teach us which I really liked. It was a really informative, eye opening and easy class.
one of the best teachers I have ever taken! she lets you make up late work for credit, and just requires a lot of participation. would definitely take her again.
If you plan on taking this class and you are not a postmodernist, marxist, or nihilist... you are going to have to pretend to be if you want to be graded fairly. Be prepared to learn only about United States history as it pertains to reinforcing the victimhood mentality. Any of the wars, important people, etc... you'll gloss right over that.
She is amazing profrssor Ive ever met. She is great taking care of her students. I was afraid to take a history class but she was a very great mento and care about how her student doing well. I love her personality and the way teaching her student. If I have a chance to take more history class, it would definitely her class.
took her online over the summer and her class is very manageable. she offers extra credit, couple quizzes a week, discussions, and a 4-5 page essay. She gives great feed back on your work and makes the class personable to you.
Professor Hong is amazing! She really takes the time to understand you and works hard to make the class environment fun and active! The homework, essays, and notes are straightforward. Make sure to pay attention to the power points, and essay questions that you do for homework. They will help during the midterm and final. She's cool so take her! :)
She takes time before, during, and even after class to help her students. Her schedule is flexible so if you can't meet her during office hours, don't worry about it, she got you! She is super chill but you HAVE to be active in the class by speaking up and expressing your opinions. The only thing that makes her mad is a quiet class so speak up!
Took her Spring, 2018. She is the best, most caring professor I have EVER taken. I don't love history classes... I am an Applied Mathematics, CompSci, and Econ triple-major. But with Professor Hong Hererra Thomas, this was the most life-changing 'history class' that I have ever taken. She has helped me many times, way after that class ended! :)
Amazing teacher. I took for online and she was quick to answer any questions I had. Her modules were easy to understand and her style of teaching is easy as well. I learned so much from her and HIGHLY recommend her.
Overall this class was good. Lots of extra credit! so there is no way to not get an A. 3 primary sources and 2 papers one final super easy and straight forward. She really shows that she cares about her students and she always brings snacks. The lecture is good just take good notes and you won't need the book. Also, PARTICIPATE!!
I loved taking her class at El Camino. I wanted to take another class of hers during my last semester at El Camino however, my schedules didnt allow it but shes one of the greatest professors Ive ever had. She cares about her students alot.
If you struggle with History then do yourself a favor and take Professor Hong! History has never been my bestfriend but this class will be perfect for people who don't enjoy the subject. She's absolutely the best and you will not regret taking her.
AMAZING professor! She really helped me a lot while taking her classes. She really cares about her students and she wants everyone to succeed. History was one of the subjects I could've cared less about, but now after taking most of her classes, I double majored in Psych AND History. She makes it VERY interesting. HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Hong is an awesome and caring professor. Easy A if you do the work on time. Highly recommend as a summer or winter online class.
I dont like history but she made it such a breeze! Although I took it online she was quick to answer any questions I had. You NEED to take her class its an easy A IF obviously you do your which wasnt difficult at all. Thank you Professor, you ROCK.
Her essays are easy to complete and she gives you plenty of time to do your work. Her office hours really help and she is open to all questions. Her class is fun.
In this class not only will you learn a lot, but you have a Professor who provides resources for her students who struggle off campus. She is very in-tune with how to engage with students and makes you feel comfortable in her class. She is unfiltered, totally real, and kind of a bada**. Fantastic class.
Professor Hong is amazing !! Took her online class during the pandemic and she was flexible. Very passionate about her work , organized and her lectures are interesting . A lot of work but given enough time to complete . Grades work accordingly ,responds to emails quickly and gives extra credit . Highly recommend !!! Would take her again.
she is the best professor I have ever had. super understanding and actually teaches you on important subject matter.
Amazing teacher! Very caring about students and as long as you communicate with her she will work with your schedule. Also very passionate about the course material and inspiring.
Pro Hong is the best Professor that I've ever had. She is smart, talented, kind and flexible. Took her class in summer(online) and she managed and organized it in such as amazing way. I had a lot of question about history and she was always present to explain, She taught history perfectly, I learned many things from her class. Highly Recommend.
Professor Hong Herra Thomas is definitely the best history professor you could get. Her discussions and quizzes helps a thorough understanding of U.S. history. Her quizzes are all on Quizlet and this would be an easy GE as well. If you get mostly get full credit for you all assignments you have the possibility of not taking the final (5-pg paper).
Best professor ! She is amazing !!!! Very understanding and gives you support during COVID and college application period. I have taken her twice in HIST 101 and 114. Take her and you will not regret it. Best at ECC....
The Best & the Sweetest!!!!!! Took her during the pandemic, she took it so smooth & is very understanding, literally the best among the best. Its impossible to not earn an A. No Tests! Research/Reflection Paper towards the end which was super easy. 3 quiz's in the beginning about canvas(easy). TAKE HER!!!
She is amazing!!! NO EXAMS. NO QUIZZES. This is the first teacher that has expanded my views of teaching. Instead of solely memorizing and being tested, she assigns discussions to relate history to modern day society. Truly an effective way of teaching. More teachers should take this approach. Report paper at the end. Best class!!! take her!
Lots of extra credit opportunities. The course was only 8 weeks so a lot of work was packed in each module but overall as long as you do the work you'll pass.
Short essay writing weekly, but no exams. Term paper was easy, but don't procrastinate. Focus on understanding the material vs. memorizing facts. I learned so much in this class, and this professor was clever, kind, and supportive. She offered a lot of extra credit opportunities, and truly cares about the well being and success of her students.
First of all, she is amazing in terms of changing the views of her students about history. Reading is required in order to participate in the bi-weekly discussion and weekly recap (biweekly also), but weekly recap focuses more on self reflection. However, she does not give specific individual feedback everytime.
There are 3 assignments due every week. One is an optional extra credit, another asks you 10 questions, usually about yourself, and the other is a response to a question she provides in 3 paragraphs. Very understanding professor and gives you the weekend to turn in the hw (due friday). Also one final paper, 6 pages long but 2 are about yourself.
I took this as a 6-week summer class. Theres a lot of reading & she allows late work. 2 paragraphs to answer the hist. question 2nd part is 1 parag. that relates to society today & last one is a response to a classmate or what you found surprising. Final paper is argumentative 6 pages essay half is about hist. 2nd half is about you
I took this class this summer. Once a week, you have to turn in 2 assignments, read 5 chapters, and write an essay in the end. Time-consuming but easy A if you do the work. Anything you turn in 100% will be given full credit, even the essay. She really cares for her students and who they are as a person! Gives the PDF/textbook
She is very nice and kind! LOTS OF EXTRA CREDITS. I took it in the fall semester. Easy assignments. Online textbooks. No quizzes and exams. Only the final paper but it was easy. BUT lots of readings since it's an 8-week class and online, so prepare to read them ahead of time rather than procrastinating. There's a grace period.
I took this as an 8-week class. Instead of quizzes we did discussions, and rather than focus on memorizing dates and events we were encouraged to recognize important people and events and explain their relevance and importance. I am not too fond of history but this professor made it enjoyable. She is very well with communicating and will help you.
She was an exceptionally kind professor who seemed to care for her students beyond the usual.
Super easy for honors, only 2 written assignments (lengthy tho) due at the end of every second week. She is super caring and gives plenty of EC. Easy class if you don't mind writing long discussion posts (around 5 paragraphs). If ur a Hist major, u prob won't b that challenged by this class but that could also be a plus if you just want an A.
I took this as a 5-week winter course. Fairly easy. Professor Hong Herrera Thomas is a generous grader. Texts are provided online. There is a discussion board and written recap every week. There is one 5-page final paper at the end. There is extra credit every week. Professor Hong was very understanding and gave grace periods and extensions.
8-week async. Weekly readings, discussions, and assignments that can all be finished in a days work. No tests, no studying. There is a lot of extra-credit (Finished with a 103% in the class). There is a 5 page final paper at the end. It is practically impossible not to get an A in this course as long as you do the work. She is very understanding.
Professor Hong was one of the best professors I've had. You could tell that she cares about her students and the topics she's teaching. She implements real-world events/issues into the course which ties in perfectly with her lecture. As long as you do your assignments promptly, you'll pass the class with an A.
Discussion board, module recap, and extra credit opportunities in each module due every two weeks, so 8 modules. No tests, just a 5 page paper due at the end of the sem. Lots of reading and videos in each module, but in person lectures once a week are very thought-provoking. She's very caring and accessible. Made learning history easier for me.
She is a really nice person. However, if you are going to take her class, be prepared to write a lot. She grades tough and has a bit too many expectations for her students. There are discussions every week plus a research project and a 4-page essay at the end of class. Not the greatest teacher but she's not horrible either.
Be prepared to write a good amount, however, she's a really great teacher. No tests, hands out extra credit options frequently, and wants you to succeed. Made history interesting to learn about, VERY easy A if you just pay attention and take notes.
She's on of the best professor at el camino. She gives extra credit every week and the week modules are easy to read and understand. You don't need to give her word for word, it just need to be inline with what she gave you that all. But over all she's the best so far and the text book are online and they are free.
This was the most straightforward class I've ever taken. Lots of extra points. Assignments that are simple and clear. Easily can take many classes at the same time. I took her for spring of 2023. She typically assigned two assignments per week and open one week in advance.
Amazing teacher clear grading criteria and overall great communication!
Professor Hong is really one of the greatest professors there is. Her class was amazing and I was able to really learn a lot throughout. I would recommend anyone to take her class as it is so worthwhile.
She is very nice and always encourage students by replying with good feedbacks. She also provided extra credits which was very helpful for me to achieve better for the grades. She also gave extension to turn out the assignment and never minus for late assignment. Overall, she is a very good teacher and I really recommend to take her class.
I took her for history 101 and she approached the class like if it was an ethnic studies class which was annoying , she is very closed minded when it comes to other peoples opinions.
I've been here nearly two years, and I kid you not she's one of my favorites. She's truly a caring professor and wants the best for her students. She's very knowledgeable about what she teaches and I swear to you, she WILL help you out if you reach out to ask. I didn't find her work difficult at all, but that is to say I'm pretty good at essays.
Took Winter online honors... her feedback truly makes you feel like she cares, and an easy grader. Her knowledge of history exposed me to not only the past, but how to become a critical thinker. Discussion posts can be 2-4 paragraphs, and the paper as the final. Plenty of EC, scoring above 100% is possible. She provides textbook, so don't buy it.
As a winter class you have 2-3 assignments for the entire week which can be done within a few hours of putting in solid effort. Take advantage of the extra credit assignments along with doing the work and you'll be good. Her commentary is very kind and she replies quickly as well.
Took this class over the winter, and it wasn't difficult. There was a bit of chapter readings to do the assignments. The final was a 5 page paper.
Took it during the winter. Every week, there is one discussion post about what you learned from the assigned reading, and one short writing assignment answering some questions using information from the textbook. The textbook doesn't cost any money on OpenStax. There's one final paper due in the last week, but its also easy. No tests at all!
Amazing Professor! I took her 8-week course during the Fall Semester! There are no quizzes or exams. We have a discussion post every week. Your final for the class is a 4-5 page paper, but she gives you all the necessary resources to write it! I highly recommend her for History, 101. Take her class!!! You won't regret it!
Prof. Hong is a very nice and caring person who overall cares about your well-being. Attendance isn't necessary, but you will need to let her know when you won't be coming to class. No tests and one assignment every two weeks. The assignment isn't hard either. She is funny and has character to her. The final is a 5-page essay at the end of the sem.
Professor Hong makes history engaging with extra credit and understanding grading. Unstuck AI was a great study tool alongside the course materials. The workload is manageable, and you can expect an easy A if you stay on top of the assignments.
Manageable online class with lots of EC opportunities. Easy to comfortably be at an A or higher. (Bi)Weekly assignments are the same - read, discussion, short module recap. Final was a paper covering all you learned throughout course. Prof is easy to contact and is willing to help you succeed (truly). Highly recommend to anyone!
She was a great teacher and provided very clear instructions. She made history very easy and digestible.
Honestly, professor was very sweet and gave fair grading. Lots of reading and lots of homework, does give time to turn in even after due dates. Not very easy online if you have a job and/or many other classes.
I feel like I actually learned and took away smth from this class. Her lectures are easy to digest and insightful. The assignments are interesting and simple. Few assignments, easily 15-30 mins each to do. Leaves good feedback, grades easily. Take this class!
I loved her class; the modules were comprehensive and clear, and gave extra credit. A very kind and mindful professor, who cares, and gives fantastic constructive feedback. The textbook was free online and had an audio version as well. Highly recommend!!
I highly recommend taking this professor, you basically just need to read the digital textbook which is free. There aren't any quizzes/tests, the assignments were manageable, they just ask you to write about an important idea or person that you read from the textbook in 100-200 words or answer a question. She has extra credit for disscussions.
This class was amazing, professor Hong was very respectful and courteous of everyone's different schedules and was very accommodating to fit yours. this class was my favorite so far and i totally recommend her!
Breath of fresh air teacher. Lectures are actually interesting and you can tell she cares. She's not here to punish you, she actually wants you to succeed. Wish I could take her again. She incites interesting conversations which I feel many teachers lack. She's open to all perspectives. The work is easy but going to class is worth it.
very manageable online class. 1-3 assignments every 2 weeks and a final paper. many ec opportunities, 2-day grace period after each deadline. turning in work is still possible after the grace period. you'll have to contact her directly but she's very understanding. sometimes messages get buried, don't be afraid to follow up. overall lovely!
10/10 overall Super understanding and cares about her students overall. Workload is understanding, not too much, not to little. Don't hesitate.
Accessible and responsive; she wants student success. LOTS of material. Opinionated, but that would be shown with non-mandatory questions to course material. She likes creating room for curiosity & open discussions to students' personal beliefs on how U.S history/actions have been fed to Americans. Grace period; locked after unless you talk to her.
Really really care, you can tell she loves history, and teaching.
