This class is easily the hardest I've taken. I don't even know how much of it I understand after having taken it. If you are at all rusty on your ODEs go review them, they are vital to this course. He'll work with you on them, but you need to have them down cold. Lenient grader, DO THE HOMEWORK.

Even though I detested PreCalculus in high school, I actually looked forward to every class with Chen. He is a very friendly and gentle man, and explains everything very well. I would absolutely take him again!

It takes about a week to get used to his accent, but it is 100% worth it. Wonderfully kind grader--partial credit all around. Very understanding, and clearly wants you to pass. There is a lot of homework but if you can just do it (even if it's wrong) you still get a TON of credit. He also tries to apply it to the real world, so that's cool.

Dr. Chen was a really good professor. He is very nice. His accent is a bit difficult to understand at first, but you'll get used to it after a few classes. He explains concepts well, and takes time every class to ask about questions regarding the homework. The homework is not collected or for a grade. I recommend this professor.

Quite possibly the worst math professor I've ever had at CNU. Class is utterly pointless as all he does is go over examples from the textbook and his lectures are rambly and hard to understand. He expects everyone to have a PhD in math already apparently, and this class might as well not have a professor and be self-taught. Stay away/

Dr. Chen does not take attendance but you have to attend every single class if you want to pass. He goes through material very fast. If you get sick(especially with covid) you will most likely have a huge drop in your grade as he does not stream even if you are medically excused from class. I missed ten days due to covid and I had to drop the class

Not only can I not understand what he was saying, but the lectures were not understandable. He went from one topic to a new topic in the span of 5 minutes, which leaves you confused because when did we finish the last topic? He rambles continuously, and leaves you mentally drained. Light grader for exams, and is very kind.

Prof Chen is a very nice person but I dont know if I would recommend his class. He has a very thick accent and his notes arent the best so I found myself teaching myself the material / depending on a tutor to teach me. He is very generous with points and gives a lot of partial credit on exams. The grade is based off homework and three exams.

Professor Chen was an all around good professor. If you pay attention, you'll do well. If not, it's not too hard to catch back up. He's also understanding so if you are struggling- talk to him. However, his class only consists of him writing and narrating math problems, if that's not your learning style, I'd advise that you don't take his class.

Accent is thick, but you settle into it. He pretty much only teaches by working out problems. This was helpful for me in understanding his words, like subtitles but for math. Does a good job explaining why topics are useful, they are often for comp-sci. "Quizzes" about once a week but they are not collected so don't freak out. Generous test grader.

Professor Chen had 4 grades throughout the entire year, 3 exams and 1 final. All of these were graded very generously. The only reason I would not take him is due to his accent, it can make it difficult to follow his lectures at time. Attendance is not required but I would recommend showing up to his class as he post nothing on scholar.

Dr. Chen is a super nice professor and he is really passionate about math. He is very helpful if you get to know him outside of class as well. The class is graded on 3 tests and the finals so make sure you prepare for them. He doesn't grade homework but it is good to do to prep for the tests.

Dr. Chen is a great professor. He has an accent, but I got used to it after one or two classes and it didn't impede learning at all. He is incredibly kind and was very open to talking after class and during office hours. He is an easy grader on tests and homeworks, of which there are not many. His lectures do move pretty fast, though.

Go to drop in tutoring, don't fall behind on the homework's even tho they're not graded as its the only way u will learn. His accent it insanely strong and I found going to class useless. I picked u tutoring sessions during my class time and had them teach me the concepts in the homework. Generous with partial credit on tests.

All the grades were tests, and a lot of the tests consisted of things that were not properly went over in class or in the text book. Did not actually answer questions given to him, just did the problem and didn't explain. He also does not explain things well in class, basically just saying what he puts up on the board. Misophonia is so bad in class

Dr. Chen was a very kind calculus professor. He wasn't very clear when teaching material so you may end up teaching yourself a few concepts. However, he is an EASY grader and allows cheat sheets on exams. On top of that, he is just the sweetest professor and really cares about the subject and his students! I would take him for 240 over other profs.

Chen is very gracious when grading tests and super forgiving for mistakes. His accent makes the class a bit difficult to understand in person but if you dedicate time outside of class to do the (non-mandatory) homework assignments it really really helps you understand the material. The only grades in the grade book are exams.
