he talks very slow and he's really boring. Then instead of explaining it well, he confuses you more. Then he makes jokes and he is the only one that laughs at them. However he does help you with the homework.
He is a cool guy. When he makes jokes he laughs only, but makes us laugh. HE is an easy teacher for MATH, if you dont like it. I recommend him. Good guy.
really great guy and understanding!!! i'm taking his math 112 class again if i can.
he is a nice guy but a horrible teacher. he explains things in the most complicated ways. he makes no sense. everyone leaves class more confused.
he's hot
He's an awesome teacher - not afraid to mess with the students. Although he goes a little fast, he understands when he needs to slow it down.
Hooman is cool. He plays soccer well. Go play soccer with him. Took calc 2 with him, proofs are ****. Horrible laugh...dont take math with him
Hooman is a very cool guy and good teacher, if you like a laid back cool kind guy take him. Hes very understanding. I love how he rocks white tee's everyday. Dont expect him to drees-up :)
Not a bad guy, but his class can be annoying/hard. You're much better off taking Connie Weeks.
He is not too bad for a math teacher - he tries to make the subject teachable even though it is hard - he makes a good effort - he gives you decent tests and little hw - class attendence not necessary - just see him during office hours
i wounld not take another class from him. hes too confusing.
hooman is great guy but not a great teacher. he is very confusing. tests are hard but he curves. you will be lost after every class although he is helpful during office hours.
Can be a bit confusing in class....but quite possibly the best teacher in office hours....he will work with you until you understand it...great efforts to help you learn. Awesome teacher
the class is a joke, he flirts with all of the girls (very inappropriate), doesn't stick to course curriculum (causing trouble in the lab), explanations are unclear, inflexible office hours. His laugh is really annoying.

Hooman really does his best to teach the class but at times can be somewhat confusing. He's a funny sweet guy who does not require attendence and homework is optional. HELPFUL during office hours!! The actual work is easy so if you don't mind teaching yourself from the book than DEFINITELY take it.
He is the worst math teacher I have ever had... super unclear and gets frustrated at you when you ask him questions. He is not helpful and obviously doesn't really like to teach people lower than himself. Do not take him.
His teaching is SO confusing and unclear. I would try so hard to follow his lectures but it was no use. I could not understand one thing. I had such a hard time in this class because he cannot teach the material! He curves your grade so that is a plus
Does NOT teach concepts, so you are just memorizing what seems like useless numbers and formulas. Didn't need book, but homework packets were required.
cool guy. doesn't require homework and doesn't take attendence. lets us have formula sheets on the tests. don't need book i never opened it. just take notes and study them and you will do fine in his class.
doesn't teach very well, speaks slowly and doesn't explain the purpose of the problem, or how to solve it. he only shows you how to do the problem, no explanation at all or as to why you do "this" or "that" in a problem. if you pick up fast in art, then here, if not then no good. no hw either.
horrible teacher. does not explain things very well, doesn't follow course syllabus, tests on material that isn't in the book, not very helpful in answering questions. you'll have to teach yourself a lot. the only good thing about him is that he does not give homework.
not!!!!
different teaching style. His lectures and notes can get really confusing and he always explains the lessons the most complicated way first when it can be done in like 3 steps. YET, homework is easy and not much at all and you never turn it in. He gives you help on tests and is really a nice guy. If you have to take this class, take hooman.
Ok so hooman rocks. His lectures are unclear, if you dont want to have a nervous breakdown every class READ THE TEXTBOOK BEFORE HE LECTURES. do the homework and study. Seriously he is helpful during his office hours.im gettinga B and I suck at math. Take him, his jokes are retarded but he is the funniest man. lots of quizzess and hard test. Study.
Hes the nicest, sweetest man alive with great intentions. Despite that, he doesn't explain anything at all and you have to teach everything to yourself. If you ask him for help on the tests he will basically give you the answers. He doesn't give much homework but hes not the greatest teacher. Might be an easy A if you can teach yourself.
Very nice guy, good office hours and will definetely make an effort to help you get the grade you are shooting for. Explains principles in interesting ways and is interesting enough to keep me from falling asleep in class.
Hooman is the tightest teacher ever!!! Not only does he tell you whatever you need to know WHILE you are taking the test, but he also gives you only 5 problems to turn in for hw.. thats it!!! he does not take attendance so you dont even have to go... hes so nice... i would seriously take him over and over jsut because his class was so chill!!! :)
great guy. loves to help his students whenever needed. tough class and he likes to give a lot more info than is necessary which makes class confusing sometimes. easy quizzes and homework is extra credit, tough tests
Worst teacher I have ever had. The man is a math teacher but can't even add correctly (which he even realizes and laughes at). Doesn't know how to teach any of the material. The students in the class ended up explaining the material. No idea how or why he is teaching college students. Wish I could get a refund.
this guy is an awful teacher. avoid him if you can. he is useless.
Lectures are not easy, they are very unorganized....especially if you have not taken Calc yet. Homework is Extra Credit, quizzes are homework problems that you have gone over (quizzes are open homework). tests are hard, but if you go into office hours he is helpful and may bump your grade if u can prove u know the topics
horrible professor. he is the worst at explaining concepts and makes everyone feel stupid if they don't understand something. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Hooman is a really good teacher. He is really nice and goes over everything slowly to make sure you understand. The quizzes are open note and book, and the tests are modeled after homework problems. He is also very willing to help you outside of class. I highly recommend him.
hes okay, not a great professor. took calculus in highschool, and HS teacher was better. more clear. 4 tests and quizes are exactly from homework. extra credit for doing homework, attendance is monitored but not mandatory. teaching style is confusing and vague. i leanred more in highschool
Extremely nice man, however, you'd be better talking to a calculator and learning about calculus than through him. Lectures are explained through theorems, definitions, but no class examples or relation of the material to the real world. Your textbook and somebody who understands this material will be your best friend for the semester.
This was the most boring class I've ever encountered in both high school and college. I went to class half the time, barely did the hw...could not have been more unmotivated by this professor.
Never went to class because it never really helped all that much. He teaches straight from the book using the exact examples. Quizzes are a joke. as long as you can do the homework you'll ace the quizzes. The tests are a bit tough but not unbearable
Hes all over the place and confusing. My student tutor from the LRC taught me more. Buy the text solutions manual off the internet b/c it tells you how to get an A+ on quizzes and hmwrk, and itll teach you more than he will Be prepared to teach yourself some calculus. BUT, if you get enough ppl to complain about something he might actually cave in.
basically what evryone is saying is true but he is a really nice guy and wants to help. i, along with half the class, see him during office hours and it helps so much because he does the examples then
don't expect to learn much. taught myself out of the book. hw is extra credit & quizzes are open book and exactly hw problems. tests are 5 problems max & you get to put any info you want on a double-sided sheet. no final. grading system somewhat random. sometimes he'll curve a test. very nice man & easy class for psych requirement. wouldnt repeat.
The homework was extra credit and not required. He only has four tests, which are no more than 6 problems. Although attendance is not mandatory, it is very helpful to attend and take notes. The quizzes are homework problems that can be done ahead of time.
Very nice and fair when it comes to tests, quizzes and homework. Doesn't check attendance, but he does notice who regularly attends class. Extra credit for doing homework which also is helpful for weekly quizzes. Tests are only a few questions, challenging but fair. He is really laid back and a great guy.
Dr Hooman is great. He is very helpful and kind. His homework is graded for extra credit and quizzes are very fair as they are questions from the homework. So doing the homework is a win win situation. The tests are a bit challenging and you need to put effort into studying for them, which is expected. Show up to class, he notices.
Not the hardest class due to easy hw/quizzes BUT BEWARE - he doesn't teach any new material, as if he expects you to already know it. Often goes on tangents on irrelevant material w/ students who've already taken calc in high school. Tests are harder than he leads you to believe and is extremely unorganized. If you want to LEARN hes not for you
Do not take. Especially if you haven't taken calc before!
I took his class and at several points considered dropping my applied math minor. He made me hate math, when the previous semester I had grown to love it. He thinks he knows everything, and maybe he does know calculus, but he cannot explain it well. He wastes time on "practical" stuff and skips the important stuff.
He's really smart but not good at explaining things. He is very helpful and understanding if you seek him out, and if you show effort you will get a good grade, but honestly no matter what you do you probably wont learn anything.
The notes you take in class literally has NOTHING to do with the homework or the tests. We are not keeping up with all the other classes and the class is too long for the weird subjects we are covering.
Very awesome person to know outside of class. His teaching is pretty mixed and some students have a hard time with the way he wants to explain things, but his homework policies balance it out. His lectures can also be a bit dry occasionally.
He is terrible for this class. I am an engineer and nothing he says has any application to anything else you learn and understanding his notes are like deciphering code because he never tells you what his notation means. Avoid this teacher at all costs.
Quizzes are take home and homework counts as extra credit points towards your quizzes. All of the test questions come straight from the homework or quizzes. 2 tests and final. I would recommend if you are able to follow calculus. If you are a student who requires a lot of explanation then consider a different professor.
Great teacher. Go to office hours, and you should do well
Great professor, truly wants his students to do well and understand concept. Very well organised class with a list of all topics and questions hades out at the beginning of the semester. Attend classes and make use of office hours. Couldn't have wished for a better MATH 112 class!
One of the best professors at LMU! Gives very clear guidelines and a list of all questions that will be covered through the semester. Illustrates all topics with great examples. Go to office hours for doubts and attend all classes. Very friendly professor with a great sense go humour!
Sorta helps when you need it, and he is a pretty cool guy. But he rarely actually teaches stuff that can be followed.
Really funny guy who cares about his students, at times he wont be too clear and hard to understand but will go out of his way to ensure everyone knows the material.
Best teacher. I was not good in math and he helped me a lot . BEST BEST MUST TAKE.
Great Professor, easy exams and always there to help with any difficulties. Teacher really cares about students and wants you to do well. I would take him again. Attend class which is not mandatory but all HOMEWORK is extra credit which motivates you to do it. Exam questions are the same as the text book homework .
This professor is pretty confusing in the way that he teaches the class, however he will help you in any way he can to help you pass. He is a very nice guy and always willing to help students. If you are not that great at math, I wouldn't recommend him, but he does curve his tests and the final grade. Overall, a great guy and an OK class.
Confusing teacher. His board work/notes hardly relate to the homework so there's a lot of self study and your notes may not get used. You don't have to show up if you don't want. Review sheets don't match up with the tests.
My main man Hooman!! Funny guy but not the best professor, rambles around and cracks jokes all the time. Lessons are random and all over the place. Very helpful with questions and during office hours! Overall a decent professor, I'd take hime again
So confusing, notes dont relate to homework or tests. Do not take class with him
Really sincere and caring teacher. He was one of my favorite professors at LMU for sure. He wants people to do well in his class and is happy to go over any difficult concepts after class. I definitely would take him again.
Does not explain concepts, simply states that they exist, and then proceeds to derive them from other equations. Does not care if you come to class, but often playfully makes fun of students and often wastes time with jokes. Very lenient towards pushing back tests and HW. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS IF YOU STRUGGLE WITH MATH EVEN JUST A LITTLE BIT.
Oh Hooman. I took math 120 with him which is a pre-calc class. The test average is a 55% in a PRE-CALC CLASS. He makes everything a million times harder than it needs to be "for the sake of higher understanding". There are 3 tests, a final and 5 homework assignments. You can skate through this one but I'd avoid it if you're trying to actually learn
An absolutely terrible teacher. Spent the majority of class time chatting with students or rambling about unrelated subjects. At the times when he did end up talking about Calculus, he gave the most confusing roundabout explanations, often even ending up with wrong answer. Ended up learning out of the book for the majority of the year.
He teaches in theories and the why behind math, not really the how. I mostly taught myself in this course, but he let you knew what type of q's would be on the test. Easy grader, homework due in sets (DON'T PROCRASTINATE). Deadlines were always pushed back if students asked during class. Chill guy, just very confusing.
He's a nice guy but his lectures don't make any sense. He gives the most roundabout explanations and it doesn't make sense. He could just show you how to do the problems but he starts proving the concept and then halfway through will start solving the problem. Honestly his class is a disaster and I wouldn't recommend besides he is chill
He is the best
This guys j amazing, i enjoy entering his class! He helps ALOT in office hours and is ALWAYS there! No matter who u are, if u attend or skip he stills respects u and helps u. No quizes just tests, couple of homeworks. Attendance not mandatory but he explains in class so attend! He also curves alot!
Nice guy, good sense of humor. Really does try to help you pass if you arent doing well in class. Teaching wise, hes bad. He tends to get caught up lecturing about theorems, & then half way through, hell try to do an example. Classes zone out a lot, & sometimes they snooze. If he taught more basic & simple examples, it would help a lot more.
I showed up to this class 3 times, the first class, the midterm, and the final. There is 0 homework, attendance is not taken, and all tests are take home. It wasn't even a class, I didn't learn a single thing and got an A.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. I believe I am very academic, but he quizzes you on things he doesnt even teach in class. He's very hard to follow too. Trust me avoid him
Never will you ever find a better teacher than Prof. Hooman. He made my life a lot easier.
Of all the LMU professors and teachers I've had in my life he is by far the WORST. Do not take this class. His lectures are all over the place and he makes topics that are not hard to understand IMPOSSIBLE. This is not a hard class but he makes it hard as his teaching style is awful. Super wack.
If you actually want to learn calculus, then don't take this class. His lectures don't make any sense and he doesn't teach you anything. I took calculus before college, so I already knew some of the stuff. His office hours are bad. Do not take this class.
he hands you sets of homeworks and procrastinates in giving tests until the very end of the semester. he gives reviews but the context and material in tests have nothing to do with what he teaches in class. doesnt do enough examples in class which makes it extremely hard to solve homeworks.
interesting professor, makes jokes and shows up late almost everyday. lectures never made any sense -- spent a lot of time deriving formulas and explaining concepts in random ways. if you've taken calc before that helps a lot. doing the hw helps clears up concepts & quizzes/review before tests tell you exactly what questions you'll see on exams
Hooman is definitely the funniest professor I've met. His lectures sometimes don't make any sense at all, so I recommend you have some knowledge about calc. If you love soccer, he'll like you, if you don't, you should probably star watching it. Also, become friend with people in your class, it will help, trust.
Nothing he teaches makes sense. Even when you ask for help, the explanations aren't the best. Unfortunately I had him for both my maths classes for both the semesters. It's a really hard class.
Professor Hooman is easily the worst teacher I have ever had in my life. His lectures are entirely nonsensical and even if you are taking notes and paying incredible attention it will still not make sense. There is no lesson plan and no syllabus detailing when assignments will be due, he just randomly decides and tells you. Absolutely awful. AVOID!
He was very bad. The class was curved very heavily which made it easier to do better, but I did not learn anything. He was unable to explain anything and it made it so hard to take. I would fail tests but he curved so much that it boosted my grade. There was decent hw levels but had to learn everything outside of class.
As someone who struggled with math, I really enjoyed Hooman's teaching. He provides a variety of examples during the lecture, includes theory/proof based explanations, you can reach him during office hours for extra help (he's also flexible on meeting times), & he's very supportive. The class vibe is laid back, which can help the learning process.
Homework can be lengthy. However, Professor Hooman is very bad at teaching. He cannot explain with clarity. I took AP Calculus BC and got a 5 in the AP exam and I already know most of the things that were taught in this introductions to calc class. Definitely take this class for easy grades, but ONLY if you have mastered the topics in the past.
This is the worst teacher I have ever had. Had I not already taken AP calc I would have failed. His lectures are boring and hard to understand, and it doesn't always seem that he knows what he is doing himself. In every one of my tests there were always grading mistakes. Finally, he takes days to answer emails. Don't take his class!
Pretty easy class. You don't have to show up if you don't want to and he still respects you. He records all lectures. I actually thought he was really funny. I think he gets less credit than he deserves. If you're looking for an easy calc class, I'd take him.
TAKE THIS CLASS. He is hilarious and you can skip class as much as you want. He doesn't explain everything as much as he could so you usually need to teach yourself from the notes. But this is 100% the teacher you should use for buis calc if u want to get the best grade.
I had taken calculus before so I did not struggle too much. But, if you are new to calculus prepare to put in a lot of outside work to understand the concepts. Lectures are pretty boring. Time in class is him introducing the concept and showing how it's derived, explains a couple examples, the rest is up to you. Barely anyone showed up for class.
Honestly, Professor Rahimizadeh is my favorite professor so far. He is really nice and funny and a fair teacher. For people saying he's a bad teacher, you're probably just stupid or don't understand math. He does give a lot of homework, but if you do it all you will be more than ready for the test.
I think this class might have been easier for me than it was for other students because I had already studied these mathematical topics the year before. Hooman is nice and knows his stuff, he just has a hard time explaining at times. Be careful at the end of the semester- his timing gets a little disorganised.
Bad. iI have to learn everything on youtube (thanks organic chem tutor). He goes way too fast and makes you feel bad about asking questions. The work isnt well spread out, in the beginning we had time to study for tests but later had tests and quizzes back to back. find the book free online.
Honestly, Professor Rahimizadeh is one of my fav professors. Such a nice guy, great teacher, and straight to the point. Attendance is not mandatory, but I loved going to his classes. funny guy. the negative reviews are trippin dawg y'all just dumb
He is a nice guy who is approachable during tests. Helps a lot when you go up to him. His lectures were not very helpful to me, but I was able to teach this material to myself. He really is a good guy though and makes it easy to succeed in this class. 10/10 love him.
Changing this now that I've taken the final. What he teaches in class never makes any sense, and on the final half of them were the same type of problem that wasn't even in the study guide correctly. Don't take this class if you want to either get a good grade or understand math more.
Really nice guy but bad at explaining certain concepts. Attendance is not really mandatory besides quizzes and tests, but I wouldn't recommend skipping if you don't understand what is going on.
Fav prof ever. Great guy and really wants everyone to succeed in his class and hes always available for office hours! I took his class twice in a row, pre-calc and business calc and I did great both times!
Originally, I went into Math 120 expecting the material to be extremely difficult. Professor Hooman is such a great teacher and allows students to take my time on tests if needed and hopes for the best every student to succeed. Going into his office hours going over problems/ redoing assignments were probably the best parts of my day.
I honestly don't understand how this man is employed by LMU. I was put in precalculus my freshman year, even though I took it sophomore year, and the guy genuinely didn't know basic properties of linear graphs and their functions. I stumped him on almost every question I asked. He assigns homework questions that even he cannot solve.
CHOOSE THIS ONE OVER OTHER PROFFESSORS, BELIEVE ME!
His lectures are very unhelpful and he tends to overexplain, but its worth it bc the tests and quizzes are SO EASY!! He grades hw by taking 5 random questions and grading those. He does the quiz problems on the board w/ diff numbers right b4 quizzes and leaves it up which is so nice! Dw if you don't show up often, just be there for the exams.
Really good professor. He does not want you to fail and is very caring. There is no possible way you can fail this class.
I took Professor Rahimizadeh my freshman year and he really cares about his students. If you show up and put your all into it he will always be willing to help. The homework and quizzes aren't too bad. Study hard for the tests. But overall, he was a really great professor and I recommend him for your business calculus class.
I absolutely loved Professor Rahimizadeh as my teacher. He cares about all his students and willing to help especially when you attend class and work hard. Class consisted of 7 quizzes, 3 tests and a final, all manageable if you do the work. Really enjoyed this class because of this professor and would 100% take him again.
Few tests so do well. He is easy to meet and talk with.
THE GOOOOAAATTTTT TAKE HIM
Barely taught anything, does allow a notecard but it didn't help that his tests were hard
if you've never taken calculus before, don't take him. i have friends who've taken calculus in high school and still struggled with his class and teaching style. he's a nice professor, enjoys cracking jokes, and is easy to meet with. but, his teaching style is not the greatest and the homework often doesn't align with class content.
He was very nice and his quizzes and tests were really easy and reflected what was taught in class. However, if this is your first time taking calculus it may be a little difficult to understand since he is vague and moves decently fast. However if you've already taken calc in high school this is a good class.
This is the first time I have ever rated a professor, but I felt the need to because of how amazing this professor was. He genuinely cares about his students and wants them to succeed. This class will be difficult and suck if you do not communicate. Communicate and go to office hours and you will succeed!!
Prof. Rahimizadeh was an okay precalc prof, I had already taken precalc in high school but didn't get college credit for it so I didn't rely on him entirely to understand the information. He passes out the quiz BEFORE doing review which is hilarious but whatever, then you get a good grade. Dates for exams, quizzes, and hmwk are determined IN CLASS.
if you struggle with precalc this class is a nightmare.
Meh is all I have to say. The nicest guy ever, but his lectures are honestly REALLY bad. He goes off on random tangents, SERIOUSLY overexplains, and occasionally stumps himself and stares at the board in silence for 10 mins. Thankfully I took precalc in hs, otherwise I'd be struggling a lot... 3 tests, a final, and 6 quizzes (they are SUPER easy).
He's not a good teacher at all but he's the nicest professor ever. He lectures but you won't understand anything if you've never taken calc before but he's always there if you need help and will literally give you the answer on tests if you are struggling. He's the best and so sweet but not the best professor.
The professor is nice and cares about students, but his teaching style can be hit-or-miss. If you've taken calculus before, it's manageable, but for first-timers it may be challenging. Unstuckstudy and the textbook are helpful supplements.
Great professor would recommend him
I would definitely take this class again. Such a funny guy. Maybe not the best lectures in the world but he tries his best and is super accommodating. Wonderful personality.
He is suck a cool guy and very understanding and he does give homework sometimes but everything else is easy.
This class is easy if you do the homework. You are very helped for the weekly quizzes. The test can be difficult but you are allowed to ask questions during it. You can redo quizzes and tests as many times as you want. he is very accessible and a nice professor. I would definitively take the class again.
Prof. Hooman genuinely cares a lot about his students. The problem arises in his lectures as he can sometimes be a little hard to understand and EXTREMELY hard to follow. Because it's precalc for business you should be fine if you have taken Algebra 2 before. I learned absolutely nothing new in his class. Tests and quizzes are super easy though.
Very funny, nice, accommodating professor who truly cares about his students. Despite the less interesting subject matter, class was still enjoyable and quizzes and tests were straightforward and easy. Overall, a standup guy.
I took Pre calc for Business. He's so so funny and really tries to connect with the entire class. His lectures are hard to keep up with but honestly the course work isn't hard at all if you just self-review. Def take this class if you don't need that much stress but be aware of hella homework that contains 20-30 problems
He didn't teach the material very well, but he also made the quizzes and tests pretty easy, since he would write the steps for the quizzes on the board, and tests would get a flashcard, plus he would help you with problems if you were stuck on a test. You also get points just for trying even if you get teh answer wrong which was helpful
His lectures can be confusing but he is overall a super caring teacher. Test are easy 15% each and there are seven quizzes that are easy 100's. Homework is long so start early.
