World Civ class. He's a conceited guy, and he grades VERY tough. But I really did enjoy his class; highly intelligent. lots of reading. I recommend him for Education or History majors... he's constructive w/criticism, which is important for those fields.
I found his personality serious, dry, & dull. Most of the class was monotonous lecture, and your grade depends mostly on tests (there were no other assignments.) I'd recommend him ONLY if you work well with in sort of classroom enviroment.
I'm an education major and I had to take W.Civil. Unfortunatly I took it with him. I found his class very boring because he just rambles and doesnt stop to make it interesting.not very indepth info.makes note taking difficult.SAVE YOURSELf
I dropped his crouse b/c of the lack of helpful material. He lectures the entire class, gives no review and has dull personality. I am majoring in education and was planning on teaching hist. but I switched my major to english after his class.
Makes you work but grading is not so difficult. Very knowledgeable and pleasant. Enthusiastic and a good lecturer
He was helpful. Prof. Nash lectures but does allow some discussion if it pertains to the topic at hand. He encourages us to work on our study skills. Very Organized.
Dr. Nash is very low key and very knowledgeable about his subject. I especially like his blend of giving notes but also using videos to keep things interesting. Tests aren't easy, but okay if you study.
I am a History Major and Dr. Nash is an excellant Historian! His work isn't difficult and as long as you study hard, and keep attendance up the final will improve your grade due to the map portion & E.C..
His class has improved my note taking skills by a large amount!! I have learned a lot and his knowledge of history is extensive and accurate. He knows his stuff. Good Job!
Nash is very organized and well prepared. He's not exactly easy, but if you come to class, and pay attention, you can learn a lot with him. He evn tries to tell a corny joke once in a while, which is fun. Good guy.
He made me love history. Took this class in summer but am glad I did. His class is intensive lots of notetaking if you want to do good. He KNOWS his stuff. He's not the most entertaining but he tries to keep it interesting.
Nice pro. but I do not recommend. Must have good study skills. Half the class dropped his class about mid term.
Great teacher, makes history interesting and is a very nice, NICE, teacher. He will stay after class to discuss notes you missed during class.
My BF & I took this class together. We had the 2 best grades in class. We both got a B! I'm a good student w/ currently a 3.9 GPA & his is 1 of 2 classes that kept me from a 4.0. I don't recommend him, but if you take him, you can pass the time by counting how many times he says "if you will."
He is a great prof. don't get me wrong you must pay attention, take good notes and show up for class! he will drop you if you miss alot! Other than that he's pretty easy if you pay attention!
this professor was very hard for me to take. he goes extremely quickly through his notes, talks and talks without any time to comprehend. i wouldn't recommend him to anyone who really doesn't wanna take this subject.
Mr. Nash is an excellent teacher. You must take notes in this class, but he is very patient. Listen, take notes and the class isn't that hard.
Hate thus class!!!!
This professor is as nice as they get. He helps if you ask after class. The key to his class is to focus on the notes from his lecture. Brush up on essay skills and you will get an A. His lectures are organized and follow the book for the most part.
Great Professor!! You must attend class regularly to do well in the class. There is a lot of material that he covers in class, but if you study the main points, you will do fine on the tests. Don't get caught up in the minute details. Great class if you put the effort in. If you don't, you will fail.
Nash is a great History teacher, every week he gives you lists of terms you need to learn for the test and you just have to learn and study the terms each week and you'll do great and get an A. He makes the class very interesting and is an especially good teacher to get if History is your Major. I am taking him for Hist 2322 next semester.
Great class! I had this professor for HIST 2321 and got an A. This class is structured in such a way that you have to work really hard to not get at least a B.
Loved it. Second class with Professor Nash. He's easy to understand, incredibly knowledgeable of the subject.
this class is easy, you just have to read and take notes He is very helpful and you know exactly what you need for the tests. I give him two thumbs up.
If you can pay attention long enough it's a great class. All he does is lecture. He's very knowledgeable in the subject.

Professor Nash is Old and slightly monotone, however, if you take notes- nothing on his test comes as a surprise. Getting an A in this class is relatively easy. He is available to you if you need him after class, and will allow you to make up work if you are in communication with him.
Dr. Nash is a great History teacher, every week he gives you lists of terms you need to learn for the test and you just have to learn and study the terms each week and you'll do great and get an A. He makes the class very interesting and is an especially good teacher to get if History is your Major.
Dr. Nash, at first seemed very strict with his teaching, but later got more relaxed. The only thing he stresses is attendance. He is very eager to help you outside of class, as long as you show interest in passing. His lectures consist of note taking. He has a list of terms on the board each day. All you need to do is study them. Take his class.
He is percise about what he expects from you ahead of time. You have to be able to take excellent notes. Most of the tests are from the notes but its unclear about exactly which "key terms" will be covered on the test & in what way. Taking notes 24/7
Sorry, he was helpful when I had to drop. I took notes everyday and nothing on the tests had anything to do with the notes (from his mouth, chalkboard, book). I payed close attention in class, constantly reviewed my notes and read what I was supposed to and nothing was ever familiar on the tests.
Excellent prof. He gives a term list which helps a lot. Would definitely take him again.
I don't know what class the other student was in.Mr. Nash's tests come from book and lecture. Study both and you'll pass the course.
I thought that I would do terribly because it was so much information retain but if you aren't afraid of taking notes which you should be if you are a college student and you show up everyday, making C's on each test won't matter. I still ended up with an A!
Hard to take all lectures about what he said because he SAid a lot.But U better take exact note coz some will be on the test. He told us we need to read the textbook and write the note. The terms he gave are all big sections.U still have to read book a lot.Test will be mutipl choice with essay.
He is a very nice n helpful teacher. he lectures and nothing else... all you have to do in this class is take notes n read. if u r a procrastinator this class is not for u its not that much readin trust me all you have to do is read and study ur notes u will definately get an A. If u r a slacker n all u do is take notes expect a C.
Dr. Nash is a easy to understand, no BS type prof. Just take good notes and study. You won't need the book at all as long as you take THOROUGH notes!!!
Take pleantly of notes. He sometimes gets a little boring but He is a very nice and helpful guy. I got and A with putting in very little effort.
Not only is Dr. Nash a great instructor but an understanding human being. I was going through some personal stuff and he understood and was willing to work with me to get my grade up. Compassion is lacking with many professors but he is one to help you out if you are willing to put the effort in his class.
Straight forward no nonsense teaching. He makes it so easy to pass his class because he just gives you the facts. Take notes, read what you missed and study. No trick questions or games. If you don't understand, ask him. He is always willing to help.
Prof. Nash is the most professional teacher I have had. His teaching style is very clear. He is no-nonsense....not for someone who has a habit of coming in late or eating during lecture. All in all, I LOVE THIS MAN! ;)
i love love LOVE prof nash!!! his class is fast and packed with info. 2 things are a must: note taking skills and a VOICE RECORDER!! once you "get" how to study for his tests you'll be fine. im already enrolled for his class next semester!
GREAT TEACHER!!! he gives you 4 exams, and lectures every class period. if you need help, he'll bend over backwards for ya. Attendance is a must(he usually lets you have 6), try not to miss too much. lectures are interesting. take notes, study them, and you'll do fine. overall, great class will be back for 1302.
AWESOME!!! You do not need a book for this class (save you some money). He gives hand-outs which you need to read thoroughly. All of his tests are based on his lectures. He gives 4 tests. He is a VERY nice man and compassionate. Would take him again in a heartbeat!!!
Nash is awesome. He tells you like it is, you can take it or leave it. He prepares you for the big university. Dont worry about dates, test are from notes and arent that hard...Already registered for his 1302 class.
he is a great professor and knows a lot about history. He lectures the whole time. You have to work hard for an A.
AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING! he's so esay u never have to open a book all you have to do is listen to his lecture. All tests are easy. And he curves them all! :)
Mr. Nash is a nice guy but don't walk out of his class in the middle of a lecture. He noticed that my grades on the tests were improving throughout the semester and added a few extra points to my final grade because of my improvement.
Dr. Nash is a good Professor; he lectures all material that may appear on his exams. Taking notes are a MUST! His lectures may put you to sleep, but stay awake because he basically tells it as it is & Key terms he writes on board are helpful in studying. This is an easy class as long as you don't get lazy or fall behind.
He's amazing! I HATE history and he allowed me to learn to like it. He makes it an actual learning experience. I learned instead of memorizing for the exams. Take great notes and study them and you'll be fine!
Nash is an excellent professor and makes it clear what you must do to succeed in his class. I suggest you take good notes, type them out, skim the text material, and write out your essays beforehand and memorize them... I did this and my avg overall was 98 or 99! You will learn in this class, and although it can be boring, overall it is very easy!
hes a really good guy hes kind of strict about your behaviour in class but if u attend his lectures and ur not mentally challenged you should get an A

Great teacher. Very helpful and understanding-let me take a make up test whenever I was ready for it.Take him and you won't regret. I am going to take him for Hist II now.
World Civ 1 & 2 are information heavy. You will have to work no matter who you have. That being said, Dr Nash is AWESOME. Knows his stuff. Heavy on lectures, but again, lots of info to cover. I HIGHLY recommend Dr Nash. He is no nonsense in the classroom. Need help? He will make time for you and is VERY HELPFUL. Do the readings, listen to the man.
He is a very nice professor. He does not like people to be tardy to his class. He does not like people sleeping in his class. You need to have the book for his class and to take good notes.
I had my doubts early in the class, but as time went on I realized that DR. Nash is one awesome dude. Just a few things, GO TO CLASS, stay awake, and take LOTS and LOTS of notes. That's what I did and I got an e a s y A.
His lectures are delivered with enthusiasm and purpose. His goal is for the student to gain a knowledge of U.S. History and learn how to gather information from lectures.
He was really cool and a fantastic teacher. Though sometimes the class does get alittle boring, all he does is lectures and has 4 tests all semester. So if that sounds good take him. I took him 1301 and 1302. He's that awesome. :D
VEry enthusiastic great teacher. He is very thurough about what he is going to lecture and test on. He's a little strict on phones, tardies and absents.
GREAT teacher..i came into this class in summer 1 and he was very awesome!!!just take notes and thats what will b on his tests...really didnt use text book but over all he is good and u should take him!!!
Mr. Nash is an AWESOME teacher, it is really easy to get an A in his class if you take good notes and pay attention. GO TO CLASS! Hardly used the textbook but overall I would highly recommend taking this teacher
Mr Nash was interesting. He was to the point and taught it. Im not one to good in history, but if you read the book and take notes and study a little bit before the tests ill bet youll pass. I would recommend this class and ill probably take another one of his classes.
I took Dr. Nash for World Civ I and II, Hist I and II and if he taught TX Hist I'd take that with him too! I hated History but he teaches with such enthusiasm and passion, I couldn't wait to get to class to hear what we'd cover for the day! Wish I was a history major!
I took Dr. Nash for History 1 & 2. He's very detailed and explains everything in detail! Just a great professor. Attendance is a must, exams come from his lectures. Puts his lecture schedule on the web. I would recommend him to anyone! Just go to class, take notes and you'll do just fine!!
Dr. Nash is BRILLIANT! He's passionate and enthusiastic.Took him for World Civ I and II You don't need the book, just take detailed notes. Tests are multiple choice with two essay questions. Essays are not difficult he just wants to help improve your writing. He's very eager to help. He's SO AWESOME
Very passionate man. The tests are pretty easy, but that's probably because I was really interested in the material, and paid a lot of attention. He's great, and made many in the class care more about history. Knows his stuff, definitely.
Dr. Nash is an Awesome professor, he really tries to engage the students into the topic and does a good job doing so. At the being i slacked off and didnt read the lecture notes and only read some of the book. But, i buckled down and got a B in the course and it was all thanks to Dr. Nash helping me out. He is Great!!! Take his class.
Professor Nash is one of SAC's best. You have professors there for show and some there who are passionate about their subject, life and their students. He is tough on attendance, but he is a super sweet guy. Take a recorder b/c tests are based on lecture. Unlike some professors he actually does test you on materials that are taught.
ROCK SOLID MAN and TEACHER!!! Dr. Nash knows his material AND his students; AND knows what he doesn't know but is willing to find out for you. I cannot ask for more in a person, or in a teacher. TAKE HIM! Work and you will ace it. Work AND read the text, and you will have a very solid foundation in that historical period.
He's amazing with the material. Took World Civ 2 with him and it's lots of writing but he's clear on what to include in the essays and journals. I made a B without buying the book, take tons of notes and just study those and the additional assignments on his page and you will ace his class.
I agree with the 2 previous comments. He likes to talk the whole time, with no time for questions. Does not allow you to have the textbook out while he is speaking! Treats students like 5 yr olds.
Excellent teacher. The last three statements are more likely from students failing the class. If you pay attention you will pass. If you do the readings as well you can Ace the class. If you act like a college student like he expects you to, there should be no worries.
Dr. Nash is very direct on how you can pass his class. He may come off as tough, but just ask for help and he is dependable. Lectures everyday, attendance mandatory. He is passionate about history, so just listening to him lecture is great. This is NOT a slack off class, so come to this class to learn.
Great teacher, don't underestimate the class and skip all the time, you'll find yourself lost. Take notes and read, and you'll be fine, he's clear and helpful when you need it.
very nice professor,,i was not doing so well in the beginning of the semester but stoppin by and talking to him helped me a lot cuz i winded up passing the class with a c cuz he explained to me that reading and taking good lecture notes is needed in order to pass..so i ended up doing that a passes with not a grade i am used to..study
Attendance is required. Skip a lecture and miss valuable info. Second time I took him and love the way he talks about history. Generous in grading yet not easy. Can get at least a B without using book. Take good notes and you'll be set.
He is truley one of the best teachers in History department. If you take good notes and study, your A is guranteed. Tests are easy, some qs could be confusing, but in general if you show up to class and study enough, you wont have any problem. I took it during summer and made an A. Definetly recommend him.
I'm a transfer student who is at SAC for the summer and I find Nash to be an interesting professor compared to other professors I've had. He doesn't teach from a power point, so he keeps things interesting. Sometimes, its kind of hard to keep track of what he's saying but if you read the book, you'll be ok.
He is the coolest, the kindest, the most lovable teacher in SAC. Def recommend him, he is super nice and the class in very interesting, tests are easy if you study and attend classes and take good notes. He explains everything very clearly . JUST LOVED HIM :)
Professor Nash's class is easy if you read the chapters and if you understand (study) the lecture terms he GIVES you. If you know that you will pass his tests, all multiple choice except for one where he required a short essay (but he tells you over what). Easy, I took him for 1301 also, but major note taking.
He is the best teacher ever :)
Professor Nash was one of the best professors I have ever had, The presentation of materials was fast paced as he had a large amount to cover but he kept it clear and very interesting. I actually LEARNED things in his class! I highly recommend him.
Good professor. He's done his research in the field of History and won't leave you behind in the class.
Professor Nash is one of the best professors you will ever have. He is professional, willing to help you, he keeps his office hours. He is prepared for each class, I highly, highly recommend him, he makes History come alive and makes it very, very interesting.
This is a great Professor but I wouldn't recommend during summer because he has to cram every thing in a few weeks, so learning and knowing what notes to write and exactly what to study for is tough. But tests rant that hard if you study.
Take notes, be on time to each class, turn your phone off when in class and study your maps (THIS WILL HELP YOUR GRADE ON THE FINAL)! Be ready to learn some cool facts about history. This professor knows his history!
make sure you take good notes!the majority of test informaton is in his lecture, study the maps!! the class only consists of lecture
Fantastic Professor. Easily the best one I've had so far at SAC. Very straight-forward, covers all test material in class. You can pass the class just by paying careful attention to lectures. Turn off your damn cell phones and pay attention and you'll do well in this class.
When I chose my professors I saw Nash had the most ratings and high ones at that. Hes very knowledgeable, but its all lecture. I get lost half the class and end up far behind. Hes straightforward and will tell you what you need to know however the hour Im siting there is painful. Maybe thats all history classes? Take notes, read, read, read.
Mr. Nash is a very knowledgeable professor. in this class, you have to take really good notes, and he talks really fast, so you need to be a fast note taker. He doesn't provide any test reviews nor gives any hit about the test materials. No quizzes and he hardly uses the book.
His class consists of this: Everyday you have a lecture. You are given a lecture guide with terms that you will cover, so make sure you're following that. Take good notes! Read the chapters! You have 4 tests, and one alternative quiz if you want to replace a low test score. No essays, no quizzes. He'll tell you exactly what you need to know.
This class is by far the most challenging I have ever attended! Every class starts on time and Mr. Nash lectures until the very last minute, you MUST be a good note taker, almost everything he says will be covered in the tests, you have to earn your grade in this class! He does not review you, he expects you to do it yourself, hard but great!
Every day you have a lecture. You are given a lecture guide with terms that you will cover, so make sure you're following that. Take good notes! Read the chapters! You have 4 tests, and one alternative quiz if you want to replace a low test score. This class is by far the most challenging I have ever attended!
This class may seem hard especially for first time college students but if you work hard and take good notes and study you shouldnt have a problem passing his class. His BIG on attendace so make sure you are there every day. Grades are bases on test and he will also give an alternative test to replace a low test grade. I will deff take him again!
Not the most exciting professor i've had but it seemed pretty standard for a college class. Nothing too overwhelming, take notes in class, don't miss and you should get an A. No homework or essays which was nice so put your efforts into writing down the topics before class so you know what will be on the test. He does talk fast.
I really admire him. You can tell this man loves History and really wants you to succeed. He wants you to pass and do good and will help you get there. You have to be pretty lazy to fail this class. I got a B when I was sure I would get a C. Don't be late to his class though. If you take it at 8 am like I did be sure you can stay awake! Great class
He is a college professor; he expects college students. I recorded all of his lecures and studied them at home. Basically all that he says will be on the test. You have to have TIME for this class in order to get an A. He stresses that for every 1 hour of class time, a student should study 3 hours at home. I reccomend him for a hardworker.
Exceptional professor. Very interested in the success of students. Gives actual credit for attendance. Lecture style with no power points but he knows his stuff. Try to keep up in class. Record his lectures if you can't write quickly then write them at home. Lectures cover the chapters in summary. Tests are straight forward.
He is such a nice man! He loves what he does! However all he grades you on are tests. Of course if you study and read, you'll do good. But if you are one of those people who doesn't do good on tests no matter how much you study DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!
Strict attendance policy, very helpful if you seek help from him. Lectures straight through and does not have any in class discussion so you're only listening to him talk. Only three tests and one final are you grades in the class.
I like this teacher. He is well educated on his stuff. Make sure to take good notes, and study. 3 test 1 final and 1 make up test to drop the lowest grade. Awesome guy this is how I wish my classes all were
If you don't know how to take notes, you will struggle in this class. Suggest you bring a recorder to record lectures. Tests are easy IF YOU STUDY. I got an A in this class. He drops lowest test grade and gives 5 extra points on eacg test grades. Lots of curves. Overall, he is one of the best professors I had and his lectures are informative.
He is a great professor, and attendance is mandatory. When the semester starts he tells you from the beginning that you need to study, come to class and be on time to pass his class. You do need the book just to read the chapters at home. He is very organized, in his files he puts what chapters in the book you need to read, etc.
I would suggest to record your classes and get use to writing A LOT. Listen to his instruction the first day he is very strict on cell phone use so dont even bother using it during class. I enjoyed his class and as long as you take notes and study them you will do great. Gives 5 points at every test.
I dropped his class..... I do not understand where his high rating comes from. To each his own, but he is by far the HARDEST professor I ever had. I did not want this one class lowering my high gpa. I would not recommend him but you can always take your chance and develop your own opinion.
Get a recorder and take notes. He gives you all the tools you'll need to pass his class on the first day. (Extra readings, maps, and lecture notes) This means you know what to expect and are able to look ahead and prepare. Study, don't use your cell phone, and show up to class- on time! That's all he expects!!
Not so tough class. Record the lectures is highly recommended. As long as you pay attention, study, take good notes, listen to the lectures you'll do fine.
i would never take him again !
Read and take notes. Exams are really easy as long as you take lots of notes.
He is a nice guy, but he mumbles when he talks and also talks very fast... which sucks because all you do is take notes so be prepared for long boring lectures! and... DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT TOUCHING YOUR PHONE!!!! be on time or dont show up or you will hear him complain about how much it annoys him!!! class is hard so be prepared to listen!
BEWARE: Horace Nash is hard to understand, and does not have the patience to explain again. Don't be late, because he is strict! He is not a good example of what great teaching should be.
CAUTION: Nash's lectures are to get you to sleep right when he starts talking. ACTION: do not take his class if you do not have a good gpa a 4.0 DO: if you take his class, you better show up before he gets in class or you'll be late DON'T: do not,i'll REPEAT,do not take his class whatsoever if you're trying to fix your gpa LOOK FOR ANOTHER PROF
This is a college class you see in the movies. He starts the lecture the minute he walks in and doesn't stop until the last minute of the class. Notes are vital! He doesn't assign homework so the 3 tests and final are very important. They are long, but come right out of the lectures & readings. Good class is you like history only.
His whole class is him lecturing. Just take good notes and print off his syllabus so that your notes match that outline and the test are mostly from his notes. He loves history and I am very amused listening to him talk about history. He does NOT want anyone on their phone, asleep, or being late in his class. That is very serious to him.
Dr. Nash is obviously very passionate about history. This being said, he truly cares about what he lectures. HOWEVER, lecturing is all he does. If you are a visual learner you should not take this class as the only visual aid he uses is his torn up map. Listen closely on the very first day of class and you might make it out alive.
Honestly I never used the book. If you can get a tape recorder use it, you may fall asleep and the lectures are super helpful when it gets to tests. Is willing to help if you do the work. A lot of the lectures are in the book though, a lot of reading is involved.
I took Mr. Nash recent for summer 1 2016 I got to say very respect for this man. One of the best historians I ever met. When he know his stuff, he really know his stuff. Very understanding on your personal issue will work with you. Makes time for his students. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND HIS CLASS 100% -thank you Mr. Nash from Mauricio A.
He is a very knowledgeable professor. Knows his stuff for sure. Every class is a lecture and he does not stop taking from the moment he walks in the door, to the moment he lets you go. Tests are hard. **Read the book** and take notes. Review everything he talks about. Try to stay awake in class. Read the syllabus. Everything is in there.
Only a few tests make up your final grade. READ THE BOOK AND TAKE NOTES. Its the only way you will survive. He talks non-stop from beginning to end. Tests are worded strangely, hard unless you know the material like the back of your hand or are good at guessing. A lot of info is given and you are expected to know all of it. Study hard, good luck.
Dr. Nash is brilliant. Many classmates struggled with the fast-paced lectures - this class isn't for you if you struggle with note-taking. Attendance is necessary - and he stresses this - because every single lecture contains so much vital information for the exams. Four exams, one optional exam, and one on-the-spot essay. TAKE NOTES, read, STUDY.
Hard to pace
Very fast pace!!! Lecture every single class, if you take his class you must show up, be on time, and take notes. If you read the book and take really good note this class is a piece of cake. Good luck!!!!
Great professor, I took him for history 1301 and 1302. Don't buy a book, if you do don't read it. Be ready to take notes. little to no homework. read your note and you will pass. Be on time it helps at the end trust me.
Good professor on explaining things. Get ready to take notes but I hated on how he runs his class. Which professor takes tardies in class?... He does. If you have something else besides a pin and something to write with, don't be surprised if you get kicked out of class. Hates when students leave the classroom. Hates when phones go off. Show up.
Horace Nash is honestly the worst professor ever. He is legit SO boring. All he does is lecture and there is only 5 tests, no homework, no quizzes, no nothing! and he doesn't post grades until the end of he semester so you have no way of knowing if your passing throughout the semester. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. All he does is talk. Trust me. DON'T!
One of the best professors I've ever had. He's nice, down to earth and wants you to succeed. No book needed but take some good notes look up stuff on the subject and you will be fine - Kenneth Hill
I loved Mr. Nash! He retired already, unfortunately.
