I personally thought he was a great teacher. Very articulate with the teaching material, really knows his stuff. I found him to be very friendly, patient with the rowdy students, and helpful. Does a great job in teaching a two hour long class.

his teaches ok, it's just that the course is difficult and covers a wide range of material. his final exam is fun though, he use questions that are very similar(and sometimes identical) to the old mid-terms!

He is great, very nice and he tells you what you need to know and what not for quizzes and midterms. Pretty fair marker, and he would give you part marks just for trying, he is easy to understand and give you assignments and project to rise your marks.

Decent teacher. Has notes from the chapter and that's all the class is, just reading notes, so it's fairly boring. The textbook is a tad confusing, but the accompanying notebook is very handy. Exam was OK. BS'd my way to a 70. Need to attend class, lots of inclass assignments, etc.

He can be boring to listen to and he figures everyone in the class knows everything already so he doesn't really teach. You'll live in the Math centre. If you haven't gr. 12 math and got a B you'll be teaching yourself. He writes a question from the book on board then waiting 20 mins for you to do it and then writing anwer, BUY answer guide!!!!!!

If you study the examples he shows in class and assigns in the homework you will not have problems. His midterms are based on the stuff that you actualy did in class. There are no surprises. He is not sneaky like some other teachers. Very nice an helpful.

Easy marker, actually...sometimes puts things straight from assignments on to the mid's and final. I like him, so I feel bad saying this, but he can be a tad.... *yawn* Not that the class makes it easy for him, no one says anything, people just sit there day dreaming...too pass his class you should pay attention to assignments & attend.

I think he is good. I would take him again. The course work is so hard, the only way to understand it is to do the work he assigns and do the self test questions in the book...answers in the back. It's not like any other teacher offers this course, but you should attend so you can do the assignments ,which are easy marks. Study, study, study!!

He is nice. If you do the assignments and understand the examples, you will be fine. The final is a bit long and hard though.

He is actually a pretty good teacher. Clear on exactly what is needed to be sucessful in the course. Go to class, and do you homework, and you'll be fine.

He is very clear, dry and boring. It's easy to fall asleep. Its important to know the textbook and take lots of notes because the notes he gives you are not detailed. Show up to all the classes because there are labs very frequently. His multiple choice tests are fairly straightforward but he packs a lot into written tests. Weighting is frustrating

Very boring class, not a very hard one tho. listen to his lecture cuz the examples he goes through in class, he uses it in his exams from time to time(or very similar ones). he uses the textbook a lot. even tells u wut type of questions r in the exam. quiz/exam questions r straightforward tho very boring class, jus show up in class u'll b fine

Ops I wrote wrong class. > < He's really nice, just hard for some students to understand him. He tends to say "Uh.. um.." quite alot, also he tends to start a sentence with voice everyone can hear then dims off at the end of the sentence. Over all I think he's a good prof.

Not the most exciting character in the world, but he teaches better and his laxed attitiude certainly helps. A much better Int, business teacher than a math teacher. Hard course, but a lot of info covered. One complaint though is that there are too many assignments and cases for this class, but most get near perfect marks anyways for them.

Wow can't believe the bad comments. Obviously, those pol didn't come to class and do the practice exercises. He explains the text clearly, gives a lot of ex and assigs to practice on, and he's definitely approachable. Midterms are very similar to assignments! Come to class and listen! You'll learn a lot. I got an A in this course, and I'm not even good at Math, I just worked hard! If you're not doing well in this course, you're not working hard enough.

He's a pretty good teacher. Just make sure to ask questions when you need to, and do the exercises he gives, and you'll be good to go for all the exams. And be ready to have no breaks in this class, but overall he is a good teacher.

Math 1118 wasn't super hard, but he made it a lot easier than I thought it would be. The class is easy in the beginning and the middle then gets harder in the final few weeks. Stay on top of the homework throughout the whole course. The final was long and hard so have a good mark going into it because you'll probably drop half a grade.

Despite what most people are saying, I thought he was pretty helpful. He was clear when going over examples in class. He does work out of the textbook a lot but it helps when studying. Most midterm questions come directly from assignments with little change so be sure to study them.

It's a math class, how interesting can it be really? Of course it's boring, but if you come to class and pay attention, you will understand. He works directly out of the book. All of his quizzes and even midterms are from questions in the text book we went over. He's straight forward and tells you exactly what you will be tested on!

Having completed a course with him, I'm really satisfied. The material was covered thoroughly, but my only mistake was underestimating the time required to study it myself. He gives plenty of opportunities to answer questions, and is a fair marker. Overall, I think he wants his students to succeed. Take him, and prepare to learn well.

Need to practice questions in textbook to do well on tests

His class is actually fairly easy. He gives weekly assignments that you work on with groups( super easy). His exams are based on those assignments, so if you're really good at remembering you can easily get an A on the midterms. His lectures can be fairly boring at time; however, he does give good information when it comes to bonds and mortgage.

Clear, to the point, expects you to put in work and wont waste class time covering basic material that you should already know , which is appreciated by students that are trying to move forward with the material and not pay for other students laziness with valuable class time. Teaches the logic of math very well. Straightforward man.

BEST MATH PROF !!! He wasnt very clear at times, and the course progresses fast. however his door is always opened for help. Attendance is mandatory to do well! He is also very clear on whats on midterms and final.

Really great proff! His explanations are simple but do require you to think and follow the material. Get the textbook, makes life 100% easier. His quizzes and assignments are excellent practice. His grading is fair. Come to him if you dont understand the material he is very patient and will explain until you get it. Wish there were more like him!

His math class is pretty easy. There are weekly assignments that are just based off of the homework, but his lectures are clear so you shouldn't really have any troubles. His exams are based exactly off of the quizzes/assignments you do in class, so if you just memorize and study those, you will do great in the course.

Very good prof. Everything done in class are on the assignments and MTs and finals are ALL based on the assignments and quizzes given and theyre very similar. He tries to be very generous with grading. Dont know the question but you got the right equation? Part marks will be given. Hes also very straight to the point which is great

The midterms are related to the assignment questions. Do the assignment questions or memorize them and you will do fine. He's a nice teacher, no one should have a problem at least receiving a B-.... literally one of the midterms was a take home... all questions were done in class or assignments.

It is the best professor in Langara. Finish all the paper/assignment he gives you are guarantee to get an A in his course

Best professor at Langara, by far. If he could make me learn Math, he can make anyone learn Math. It doesn't matter how basic and stupid you might think your question is, he never makes you feel stupid and just answer your question in a very calmed way

Not sure why everyone is giving Hoshiar such a bad rating. I personally thought he was one of the best teachers and would no doubt take his class again. He's very fair on marking as long as you show up and pay attention to the things he teachs. I would take another class he teaches as long as you're putting in the effort.

team project was amazing. final exam was amazing cause of the covid-19 the MCQs were taken out and only long essay questions were there. in the midterm there were long essay questions too. these questions are awesome cause they get you thinking outside the box, they arent theory and deifinitions like the MCQs. I really enjoyed it

Hoshiar was a great choice to take Math1118 with, his exams are heavily based off the assignments he gives nearly weekly. The assignments are done as groups which gives you the opportunity to learn from eachother. Assignments are gone over after each is due and solutions are available on brightspace. Learned more from his homework than the textbook

I never thought I would say this, but I actually enjoy doing maths in his class. He is a good professor. There is a lot of material to cover and some of the topics are tough. His exams are largely based on the assignments he provides every week so that's amazing. Would definitely recommend taking him. One of the best professors at Langara for sure.

I'm taking his online class right now. You can pass the exam with a high mark if you study and pratice his assignment. The exam is similar to the assignment.

Hoshiar is a fair marker. Not a heavy course load, but need to put in work to get a good grade. Overall, he is a good professor although you do not get to see your quiz submissions to see what went wrong so you just have to accept the mark you get.

Hoshiar is very nice instructor! He is gentle for grading and fair marker! I'm pretty sure nobody fails in his class! But it's just a bit hard marker for exams. His exam is open book but pretty heavy and time crunch. Overall, I really like him as instructor!

Well informed instructor who is happy to help when you're struggling. The course moved very fast but he paces it well and I was surprised by how much I learned in the end. Would definitely take him again, I thought he was great.
