Dr. O is one of the best professors I've ever had. He is more than just a teacher, he is a mentor who will help his students prepare for graduate programs and general success in life. His lectures are full of mindblowing information, and his assignments are graded at the standard you would expect to see in a graduate program.

Professor Hosok is definitely one of a kind, and if you're looking for an easy class with not the usual experience then I recommend him. He likes to pick on those that say stupid things, so if you're a motor mouth then probably don't take him. My only advice is to study for the quizzes because I was surprised at how much they affected my grade.

Loved this professor!! The way he taught/presented his lectures made it so easy to remember the material. Only two exams (midterm & final). Prof. O is amazing. Very knowledgeable, experienced and funny. I actually enjoyed his early morning class. He used a lot of real life examples and his course related jokes made the material stay in my head.

I graduated a while ago but was just reading about my profs from DSU for old time sake. Dr. O was so great. Things were brighter, life a little sunnier with him. He is Patient, funny, fair grader, loves his students. Definitely my favorite prof ever!!! I do miss my DSU days... Thanks Dr. O

Dr. O is the best prof I have ever had. He makes class so fun! He is hilarious! Pop quizzes are super easy, midterm and final were fairly hard, but if you study you are golden :) Also he gives no homework at all! So that is a major plus. I will miss him a lot, I definitely recommend this course!

Dr. O is an absolutely amazing professor. He scared the crap out of me the first few classes, but he is now my all-time favorite. He is extremely knowledgeable and passionate about history and really teaches it in a way that is very interesting. Take time to study for the tests and you will do fine!

Absolutely the best of DSU, Dr. O is up there with the most caring people there are. He explains everything very well so there is no confusion. He is extremely easy to talk to and even if you do not like history, he can make almost anything interesting. He makes me wish I had majored in History. He is very knowledgeable and surprisingly funny. AA++

Loved his lecture format. No doubt the greatest History professor at Dixie. The class consists of 2 exams - none of them are cumulative and 4 quizzes. His pace is excellent and he always reviews previous topics to make sure you are not confused. Would take again. 10/10

Dr. O is the best professor at Dixie State. You will actually learn History and if you don't do well it's your own fault. You will be surprised how clear and interesting History can be when you have a professor that teaches it to you, opposed to just lectures it at you. Best Professor I've ever had in any subject.

10/10 would recommend. The guy is a legend and definitely knows a lot about what he is teaching. Expect to be utterly confused and hopeless. The course itself was difficult and Professor O grades very precisely, but if you pay attention to the lectures and get help from him, you're bound to do well. Also, his office hours are excellent! Dr. O is a very odd Professor in a good way. Come to class, have a good attitude and smile and it will be easy, there are a lot of notes you have to write in class because the PowerPoints arent on canvas so be prepared for that but you only have 1 paper due at the end of semester and 4 random quizzes, no homework. Overall he is a good professor.

I love this guy. EXCELLENT CLASS! I cannot stress enough how great Dr. O is. His lectures are well organized and comprehensive with the added bonus of humor. His assignments are reasonable and he is happy to help. His enthusiasm is infectious.

Several people who took the class with me consider him to be hard, but I don't think that's true. He genuinely cares about his students. When I had some personal problems, he was completely understanding and helped me out. Due to his class, I will be trying to get into all of his classes in the forthcoming years. Go talk to him! (:

Dr. O is a great teacher. His lectures are fun and entertaining, and he makes sure to highlight the important parts that will be on the midterm. He gives you a couple weeks to do the midterm review, and all the questions are from that review. Most of your grade is based off attendance, so if you don't go, you won't pass. Would definitely recommend.

Dr. Os lectures are extremely clear and dense with information. He has reasonable expectations and always explains them to his students. He gives clear and intelligent answers to student's questions in class and is also very helpful outside of the classroom. He is knowledgeable and thorough about his subject. Highly recommended.

Dr. O is a gift from the Gods. However, he assigns killer amounts of reading. I've had to read 200 pgs in a week once or twice a semester. There may be a lot of reading sometimes but hey, it's a history class.

Alright. History isn't my thing.. and yes it was difficult for me to write the first college paper. Start your paper in advance. Great PowerPoints, and has an extensive syllabus that is crucial to the class. Wasn't a fan of History at all but Dr. O changed my opinion and made me interested in the subject. This class is not for the procrastinator.

Excellent, knowledgeable, brilliant, accessible, kindly, funny. I was worried about this class because I'd heard he was a hard teacher. Assigns a lot of reading, but this is college, what do you expect. And it's interesting stuff (mostly). He's really sweet and cares very much about his students and their lives.

He's an awesome professor. Very direct and knowledgeable, but you must do the work. As long as you're willing to learn and do your part, he's always making himself available to assist in any way he could. There aren't many professors at Dixie who are willing to help you in a flexible manner. You won't regret taking his class.

I learned so much from his Asian history class. Next stop, becoming the history major. :)

OMG, I love this professor!

I was originally annoyed about needing to take a World History GE. Dr. O ended up being my favorite professor at Dixie State. I wish I took this class my freshman year because it really whips you into shape and transitions you from the slacker high schooler mindset into a hardworking college student.

I really enjoyed his class. Hes always making jokes and hes very engaged with the students. Definitely shows that he cares even though he trys to hide it. Acts like hes going to be a strict teacher but its all a show, hes very nice.

One of my fav prof. EVER. I thought his bold humor was hilarious. Others might not. He is clear on everything that is expected, & he wants you to pass. We only used the textbook for the tests which he gave study guides for. He's a real savage so don't say anything annoying & you won't have a problem. He made class entertaining & I learned a ton!

Dr. O is outstanding!! He is caring and understands life happens. He is determined to see his students successed. The work load may appear heavy but he breaks it down into manageable chunks. He will push, motivate, and support you even when you doubt yourself!! Highly recommend!!!!

Dr. O is very different. He is a great teacher, but hard to like at first. His class is very easy, but attendance is mandatory. He loves when people participate in class and is funny in a very odd way. He has an accent, but is easy to understand. If you want an easy history class, he's the one, but STUDY hard in order to get a good grade.

I loved Dr. O, he is an amazing teacher and his class isn't hard at all. He does give random quizzes and mini reports but he lets you know from the start to study for them. Attendance is mandatory and is a big part of your grade, he is funny, really nice, gives good lectures. His tests are exactly like the study guide!

If you skip class you wont pass. Make sure you know your states and capitals. Other then that hes good. He gives you the answers for the test on both the midterm and the final. Only one homework assignment during the semester.

Easy class, but don't skip. There is not a final test in this class. Just a final article report which was pretty easy. Overall, I highly recommend O!

I think Dr. O has to be one of the best professors I have ever had. I have had him for 4 classes. He always provides you with a clear criteria for grading in tests and papers and always makes class lectures funny and interesting.

Dr. O does a fantastic job of applying historical events to modern day scenarios to make them make more sense. He helps students dive deeper into issues to understand the why behind a lot of the things that happened, rather than just the what.

I tested positive for the COVID-19 second week of the semester and I was thinking about dropping all my courses. But, he met with me one on one and we came up with a plan that worked well with my situation. He is an incredibly caring person and wants to see all of his students succeed. He is a genuinely kind person.

You don't need a textbook unless you aren't understanding the lectures. Doesn't give homework, but you are graded on very few items, so you have to ace the tests. Take notes. It's pretty easy if you can just understand the basics of events and what they were. Be prepared to be picked on in class, very funny though.

It was the hardest class I ever took in college. A lot of assignments and writing to do, which can be daunting at first. Two of 3 hours written exam, Several article reviews, Book Report, Research paper, Presentation. But, it was a great learning experience for me. Dr. O is so much caring and genius guy. It's very clear that he really cares about his students and makes sure everyone gets a good grade as long as they put in the work. He's very likely to reply to your emails within an hour or so. Great teacher... He's very clear about what he wants, and although it's not easy, he's very nice and helpful. I never had much interest in history, but now I do. He absolutely loves being a history professor, and his enthusiasm can definitely rub off on you if you allow it to.

This class was based off of 2 tests, an article report and attendance. As long as you show up every class you will get an A. Not hard work and he builds up the assignments and tests to be big deal but they are actually easy if you follow his study guides and instructions.

Make sure you go to class because going every day will help you do better. Make sure to study for the map tests they will hurt your grade if you don't. Dr. O was a great professor! He outlined the class very clearly from the beginning, and his study guides were basically the same as the tests. There are 4 pop quizzes with the states, capitols, and the 13 colonies. Also, the only homework, we got in that class was one 6 page essay, but we had 3 months to do it. Also, he is very funny!

I hated every history class until took this one. You will get out of this class what you put into it. He gives really informative lectures. The test is a lecture heavy but good notes should keep you passing. Dr. O is very knowledgeable and I'd easily take another one of his classes.

Professor O is my national history honor society advisor. His classes are interesting if a little info-heavy at times, but he does a fantastic job of explaining everything. And he is very approachable. He teaches how to read primary sources, which is a must if you are gonna major in history. Grade aside, you simply won't regret taking his class.

The best professor I have had at Utah Tech. He's speeches are amazing, and interesting. I do not like history, but his class has made me want to take more history classes. You learn some valuable life lessons as well. Recommend!

Initially, I was quite intimidated by its large size. However, with the passage of time, I have managed to forge numerous friendships. As the semester drew to a close, it was evident that everyone had bridged any gaps and come together as ONE team, actively supporting each other. I will greatly miss being a part of this class.

At first, he may come across as quite intimidating. However, as you get to know him better, you'll understand why. Despite having a large number of students, he never gives up on them, which is truly remarkable.

He's intimidating at first but is actually really funny and explains things well. The grade is based off of 1 midterm, 1 final, 1 article report, and 4 pop quizzes. After 6 absences you get an F, so show up! Other than that, it is a pretty easy class and he prepares you well for tests and has a study guide for the pop quizzes.

An exceptional professor! Although demanding, he provides guidance at every step throughout the semester. Despite the initial challenges, I gained crucial skills for succeeding in the graduate program. Remarkably, he is available 24/7 for his students.

Professor O simply amazing. The capstone course was really difficult and time-consuming, but I can confidently say I learned a lot about how to write a history research paper. This one course taught me more than I had learned in the last four years of college. I thank him for taking the time to help each one of his students outside the classroom.
