Teaches right out of book word for word. So you cant rely on the book for added help, because when reading the book you see the exact same things that was written on the board. Very few examples done in class. When asked for help he has told us where to look in the book, without totally answering the question.
Needs to do more examples in class. Although he does seems to be very knowledgeable about the subject
knows his stuff very well. not really a hard class but requires a lot of independent work. the whole class period is spent copying notes from the board with few examples :(
Needs to have more examples that will be similar to the homework that is assigned.
NO EXAMPLES, and WORD FOR WORD from the book, so why go to class? Homework isn't anything like class lecture, and tests aren't like homework. Need help on homework b/c you're lost?? Find another professor since he will lead you in the wrong direction, or he'll say "I DON'T KNOW", "I'M NOT SURE", "THE BOOK SAYS SO", etc. Personal advice: bad, avoid!
The class is uninteresting, but the professor could be more helpful and descriptive about the assignments. He could possibly give more feedback to the students as well.
Difficult to understand most of the time, and sometimes doesn't seem to know the material. However He will do everything he possibly can to help you when you ask him.
A lot of his notes come straight out of the book, but when it comes to programming all your notes will come straight out of the book. He elaborates on how to use the coding and is helpful in helping find an answer, but never gives you the answer. You have to work for it. He is foreign and can be difficult to understand. Truly enjoyed his class.
Dr. Song seems to be very smart but he is foreign and very hard to understand. He will try to answer any question you have, but good luck understanding him. I would definitely try and not have him again for a professor. Maybe its just the class, but I feel like I had to teach myself everything.
Dr. Song is very helpful and always waits for everyone to leave class before leaving himself. He is considerate of those who take notes and waits until all students have copied what they want down. He is a fair grading professor.
Dr. Song is very helpful, he will stay with you after the lab if you need any help and he is very fair in grading. His accent is difficult to comprehend at first, but it does not hinder anything.
Class is great and material is greatly covered
Some of the material is confusing however he does a very good job explaining it if you have questions.
There is some difficulty in communicating due to English not being his first language. He follows the textbook religiously, which allows you to pay attention in class and not have to worry about missing some of his writing on the board. There is no use of technology in the presentation or teaching of the material! This is due to the school.
Dr Song is a new teacher and it shows, however he is extremely helpful when asked. He will stay late in the day when he knows students are working on homework and have questions. I think with some practice and a little polish he will make a fine teacher.
Class is better than the beginning of the semester. Assignments are following more of his examples. He'll make a strong effort to assist all students' needs. Tests build off of homework and example problems. A demonstration would help really grasp what's going on for some aspects.
Dr. Song is a good teacher and he really works hard to explain students, using different ways. He welcomes students to ask question in class or in his office hours. His tests are similar to his home works and examplaes. Recommended!
Dr. Song is extremely helpful in and out of class. At first i had trouble learning but Dr. Song started using much more examples at our request and the class became easier to understand. Dr. Song makes good use of the textbook and is very knowledgeable. Overall i hope that Dr. Song is made a permanent member of our faculty here at Tech.
Dr. Song has made a great improvement on his teaching methods. He now demonstrates more examples that apply to the homework as well as the tests. He is a very helpful person and I enjoy having him as a professor.
Dr. Song has really improved his teaching approach. I find that it has been much easier to complete the homework assignments and tests now that he does more examples. This has helped me to acquire a better grasp on the class and to understand more about what is going on.
Dr. Song is doing overall well in the class and improving his overall teaching performance ability. The class has gone from very difficult to easier to understand and comprehend the given material.
Dr Song has really stepped up his teaching. I really enjoy coming to class now that I have a better understanding of what's going on.
Dr. Song is a really good professor who cares for his students and does his best to make sure the students understand the material. Like other classes, there's theory, but Dr. Song's homeworks really make the theory applicable. He's a great guy professionally and to get to know.
He improved his teaching a lot over the course of the class and it helped tremendously when he started doing more examples.
Dr. Son is very helpful and his tests are very fair now. He was very reasonable when told he was giving too few examples. Now he gives plenty of examples. He is very knowlagable and I hope be becomes part of our permanent faculty.
Dr. Song is a very understanding teacher and willing to work with you. The difficulty in his class is not from him, but from the poor communication in the EE department. I'm tired of hearing you should have learned this. Depending on what teacher you have for class depends on what you will learn. It should be required to spend x time on sections.
Dr. Song is a new teacher with one semester under his belt now. At first the lecture and class material was difficult to understand. As the class progressed he had a marked improvement in his ability as a professor. He is eager to help his students. On one occasion he stayed in his office til about 7 p.m. because students were asking questions.
Dr. Song has turned out to be a good professor. He is very eager to help students any way possible.
Dr. Song is a good professor he is very good at helping students if they have a problem.
Dr. Song is very helpful but I would like to have more explanation of the examples that are done in class.
Dr. Song is very helpful and eager to make sure students learn and try to incorporate their input into his teachings if possible. He really needs to explain more about examples or do different/more examples.
Good afternoon everyone, let's get started. Dr. Song genuinely wants you to learn and he will help you do that anyway he can. Some explanations in the notes would be helpful, but he does plenty of examples.
Sometimes the notes are written so fast it is hard to keep up, but does plenty of examples. He follows that book verbatim. He is helpful if asked for help.
Dr. Song is very eager to teach. He is more than willing to help with any problems. Small barrier with interpretation of questions sometimes, other than that no problems. I feel his explanation of the text is very easily understood.
Last semester he made improvements to his teaching style that come this semester were again absent. He puts no interest into the class and just copies his notes onto the board, often times too quickly for anyone to follow. When he does write an example we aren't finished copying when he goes on so we don't understand.
When teaching new material he never explains what the new variables are, and the examples he does write he doesn't show work or explain how he came to that answer. He doesn't bring more interest into this field.
I believe he genuinely wants us to learn the material, and he is willing to help if you have questions. However, it's difficult to retain material at the pace in which he is teaching. Finishing an example on the board, and asking if there are any questions before anyone even has a chance to finish reading/writing the example is sort of pointless.
Pointing to "this guy" on the board, while I'm staring at my paper and writing at ludacris speed to keep up, is kind of frustrating. Otherwise, he is alright, and he's willing to help if you have questions.
Dr. Song is a good teacher and a very respectful individual. The only issue I have is that he sometimes explains examples too quick.
Mr. Song is a great teacher. He is patient and explains things correctly.
I enjoy songs class more now that he has slowed the pace a little. Song is very helpful and very knowledgable in his subjects.
Since last review, Dr. Song has made a good effort to improve upon the issues that needed to be addressed.
Dr. Song has recently become more effective since he has slowed down and taken more time to explain examples.
Dr. Song is very receptive of comments. He tries to adjust his teaching style to fix the problems he had earlier in the semester
Dr. Song has improved since the beginning of the semester.
Dr. Song tries his best to improve based upon previous comments.
Dr Song has improved his teaching strategies thus helping students to learn more.
Great instructor, very helpful, nice guy willing to work with his students until they are finished and understand.
Very helpful professor. Wants to make sure students learn the material.
Very helpful and is very knowledgable about the subject.
Dr. Song is very helpful and truly cares if the students learn the material.
Grading was fair, and Dr. Song is always willing to help a student.
Dr song was always available during office hours to assist students. Knowledgeable about the subject
a comment about this professor
Dr. Song is always eager to help and is very knowledgeable about the subject. The only drawback is that he is occasionally difficult to understand.
Dr. Song is a very nice professor who tries to make sure everyone knows what is going on. I am simply not good with programs and find him hard to understand at times.
Shows a clear understanding of the material he is teaching and tries very hard to help the students, but his accent is very difficult to understand
Dr. Song is always prepared for class and eager to help. He is always in his office during his office hours and never turns you away. Overall, he is a well prepared professor.
Dr. Song has a thick accent that is hard to understand. It's obvious that enjoys what he does. The class is only once a week and is several hours long so it is hard to stay alert. He provides Powerpoints and solutions so that is helpful. He goes right along with the book so it is easy to follow. However, it is hard to take notes due to limited time
Decent enough at explaining concepts and teaching the required subject matter, but does tend to go very, very fast which makes the student lose track eventually because of the gigantic load of new information the mind has to process. Needs to go significantly slower to become a top professor.
Good teacher, the only problem I would say that there needs to be more examples that pertain to the homework.
Dr. Song is a nice guy and a caring and passionate teacher. However it would be nice if there was more connection between what we are taught in class (concepts, examples, etc.) and what is given on homeworks and tests. Many things we do not see in class appear in homeworks and tests and vice versa.
Needs to go over more examples in class. Also needs to explain some of the material covered more in depth.
he is always on time, and he gives a good explanation of materials.
Hard to understand at times but is passionate about what he does and it shows when he teaches. Overall, good professor.
He is always willing to help. Very caring.
A very nice guy, and always able to help. Very available.
He tries to be helpful but is hard to understand at times. Over all a good teacher though.
Dr. Song is a nice guy and a caring professor, but Communications is not my forte.
Very passionate about what he does, very nice guy. Personally, I just have a hard time getting into communications.
350 characters...really? When I can convince him that a formula on the board is wrong, although it was actually right to begin with, there is something wrong. When I ask him for help with homework and he shuffles through the book before ultimately looking in the solution manual, something is wrong.#TheCommunicationsBoatIsSinkingFast #SendHelp
I don't come to your office expecting you to hand me the answer. I come to your office because I have looked through this worthless book and gotten nowhere. So, pointing out stuff from the book is not going to help. I would like to think that you could give some other, useful, suggestions...without looking in the solution manual(i.e. teach us).
This professor is obviously very intelligent and knows the material inside and out. However; it is often very difficult to understand him and this creates occasional problems in the classroom.
nice guy
Very nice guy that tries hard to help you understand the material.
class will seem to be useful in the future
enjoying my time immensly
Very helpful professor.
Great professor will always be there to give you a helpful hand.
Good Professor, just hard to understand at times.
Peculiar.
It's pretty bad when you are told in class that test will be on chapter three then when we get the test there are parts of chapter two on it. From my understanding the students that knew about chapter two being in test were told by the professor when they went to his office with other questions. That is sad that he can't/forgot to tell everyone.
Tests aren't too bad if you know how to prepare for them. Homework can be a little frustrating at times.
Tests can be easy if you know how to prepare. Its sad though that this professor believes that students that are more interested in power or automation than communications are too stupid to understand the math behind communications.
Very kind. Sometimes he skips steps on examples, making it difficult to fill in the blanks. I appreciate his positive attitude.
Really nice, difficult to understand at times but the homework & tests are very similar to class examples.
Professor is thorough on the board and makes examples clear. His conclusions sum up theory well. He's willing to help the students. The professor needs to move to the side when writing on the board to make it easier for classroom notes. Also has difficulty understanding questions at times. Finally, the take home tests help students perform better.
Dr. Song is the most willing and helpful professor one on one. In class, he is punctual and always starts and ends on time. He writes the entirety of the lecture, which often puts the majority of the class behind. Although, he is very willing to answer questions and stop if anyone asks questions. His expectations are fair and manageable.
Very much enjoy this class. Dr. Song really cares about his students and enjoys educating in general. He is very thorough, writes everything on the board (which I like). Overall, very enjoyable class.
really nice, but he is very difficult to understand. He expects you to have a great math background and if you passed math with a C, good luck! He writes everything on the board without much time to process whats going on. If you go to his office he will definitely pull out the solutions manual and point to your book to try and find the answer.
He is difficult to understand but the combination of his writing everything down and his speech isn't hard to put together like a puzzle. He is very nice and helpful if you ask for it, but there is a lot of material to cover so he usually hurries through during class.
He is a really nice guy. He is a little hard to understand at first. He teaches at a pretty fast rate, its sometimes kinda hard to keep up with what he writes on the board. Overall he is a good professor, and I would recommend him.
He is a little soft spoken which makes him a little hard to hear and understand.
Soft spoken but understandable.
Always happy. Sometimes he is not thorough with every step in his in-class examples. This leads to confusion on homework. He is always willing to help.
The professor is friendly and helpful. The directions are not always clear on exam problems, and occasionally I have trouble understanding him in class. Overall though I think he is understandable and wants to work with you. He also seems to enjoy the class material which I think is a plus.
Dr. Song is a great professor. He seems eager to help students if they need it.
Dr. Song is a very helpful professor with a clear understanding in his field. He gives very fair tests and homework assignments to help us understand signal and systems processes. So far this has been a very cool and fun class.
Tests seem to correlate to the Homework assignments Examine the usefulness of topics discussed in the course
Expect to work hard, but the assignments are fair.
Really helpful.
Laid back professor. Exams correlate to homework and example problems. No curveballs thrown at you. Very fair professor.
Not terrible, but sometimes he be can unclear. He is knowledgeable in the subjects he teaches, though.
Knows his stuff, but has a hard time communicating that knowledge to his students.
Tries to be helpful, but unfortunately there is a language barrier. Has a hard time relaying his answer in an understandable format for his students.
The class material is very tough and Song doesn't always do the best job of clarifying the material. The book rarely gives useful examples (solving long complicated integrals in a couple non descriptive lines) and Song follows suit. It's very hard to tell exactly what is going on at any point during the class. Emphasis on the basics is lacking.
The professor struggles to understand questions posed during class and often gets frustrated if students ask many questions. He expects test answers to be exactly correct, as in, exactly what the solution manual says. The instructor will deduct a substantial quantity of points if even a minor error is made when answering a question.
He's relaxed, but sometimes it's hard for us students to understand the content he's trying to relay to us because examples in the textbook aren't very clear and that's what he uses in his lectures in class.
Nice professor. Reasonable exams, but content isn't always clear.
Lectures are presented with close correlation to the book. However, the book is not very clear and can lead to confusion, especially on example problems where the book lacks details. Tests problems are related to the homework but are much more lengthy and difficult. This proves to make our given class time not long enough to complete the exam.
