Prof. Manoukian was a wonderful professor. She was very knowledgeable about the subject. We were given 6 exams and no quizzes. No textbook needed, her slides will be enough for you to study(she also said). The muscle test was the hardest for me. She is clear on what she will test you on. She honestly helps you pass her class.
GREAT professor. She's actually a Doctor. There's NO language barrier which I appreciated. She's young and smart. Doesn't require the textbook. Makes her own slides and draws a lot in class which helped. People who gave bad reviews probably just didn't put in the time and effort. Anatomy is hard, you get what you put in. Tests are hard.
She is AMAZING!!! She really cares about her students passing. She is very helpful, all you need to do is ask. Had quizzes once a week with extra credit.
Professor Manoukian is so strict specially on exams, Dr. Manoukian give hard exams like example: Axial, Appendicular and Muscles. she wants student to memorize everything origin, insertion and action, from Top to bottom of the human body. that is too much. other professor divided the exams for anatomy. No consideration to give you chance.
She's great! She's really nice and curves tests, but downfall is, the tests are really hard... I've been studying like no other and I still barely pass, she gives pop quizzes like 6-8 of them from the lab manual, no book needed but must study from hundreds of note slides. Everything is online, and she gives lots of EC! I'm between grades right now.
She grades on spelling. Tests are practical and lecture based. No textbook. 6 tests, and several pop quizzes. She curves some tests, but doesn't drop any... Too much material to learn for each test, she doesn't divide it like others do. Gives you like 100 slides to memorize and learn. Need to know everything in a few weeks before test. Really hard.
Shes tough, really tough and great at what she does. Human Anatomy is a subject where you teach yourself 90% of the time. There is so much information so obviously the lectures are going to be fast paced. She might give you the wrong impressions at times but when you get to know her she will help you. 20-30 HOURS STUDYING A WEEK RECOMMENDED.
Over 100 lecture slides which is fair game for testing. Tests cover A LOT of material No study guide, tests can be based on all her slides for the chapters she's testing on. If you are going to take this class make sure you don't have a job or life, you will need many hours to dedicate toward studying because there is no room for slacking off.
Tough grader! I wouldn't suggest you take this class
Anatomy class is tough. That's why Dr. Manoukian has condensed the subject into 120+ slides for every unit and this is why she does not require buying the book. Everything on the test is from the slides. There will be two tests for one unit, a lab and lecture. And, YES, the only advice I can give is to memorize every single words on the slides.
She is great. Half of the class dropped because they wouldn't study or put effort the ones who did stayed. Only one person got an F everyone else passed. She is kind and will help you, gives extra points on the quizzes and tests.
She is a good proffesor, but she goes through lecture rather quickly/talks way too fast. 4 tests and a final (comulative). Won't drop the lowest grade on a test but she does give extra credit.
terrible professor ! too fast doesn't answer your questions instead gives you a lecture about something completely different. study guides are no use cuz its more into detail than the guide. asks for too much we aren't professionals here some are just doing for GE you know... if your absent for an emergency she won't accept it..
Well I took Brockman before and did not take anatomy serious (BIG MISTAKE) , Professor Manoukian made anatomy way more difficult. She is really nice and can be helpful but her lectures are ridiculously fast and her tests are worse. Memorizing the slides won't help because she wants you to know EVERYTHING. If you can, Take someone else, anyone else!
Dr. Manoukian is meticulous and has a clear grading criteria with many extra credit opportunities on every test and lab manual. There are 6 tests, no homework. If you're not ready to eat, sleep, and breathe anatomy, then this class isn't for you. Memorizing the slides is you best chance at passing the class. You will learn a lot. Study 5+ hr/ day.
If you like memorization and you got no work, this is for you. If you got some other heavy subjects, and mixed with work, then most likely you will have a hard time. I studied 5-7 hrs a day with almost full time work and I only got a C. She is a good teacher but her test is very heavy. She will not provide any study guide. Just study her slide.
If you are thinking of taking this professor, then this is going to be your biggest mistake. You will ruin your grade if you take her. Tests are very hard, no study guide, no curve. Very little extra credit but that's not gonna help you get A. Go find another professor.
Hands down the WORST professor. Everyone knows Anatomy is difficult, but take any other teacher and it will be do-able. Prof Manoukian does the MOST to make this class as difficult as possible. She docks points she should have given you, and is inflexible about giving them back. She has a "that's not my problem" about everything. Who hurt her?
Anatomy is a tough subject regardless of who is teaching it. Dr. Manoukian gives you everything you need to succeed from the beginning of the semester. If you put in the time and effort into studying her notes then you will pass this class easily. A lot of extra credit is also available. I passed with an A and all I did was study her notes.
Hardest class I've ever taken. Dr. Manoukian helped me understand the material. She is super clear on what she expects, grading is straight forward. She really cares about us & that we understand anatomy since we'll need it for physio. She offers a lot of extra credit, don't miss any EC! It raised my grade.
One of the best professors at lavc In my opinion. Biology is a tough class but if you pay attention and study you'll pass. I believe there are 3 exams and from what I remember she also does extra credit.
took her for biology 3 very great teacher attendance is mandatory! but if you do the work and study for weekly lab quizzes and for your 3 exams everything is on your lab book study and do the assignment in class and you will be fine. She is available during her office hours and you can contact her by email provides you with her lectures&studyguide
YES, she is tough but she is lenient if you are actually trying. All you need to succeed is handed to you. You are given the lecture slides. Tests are straight from slides. No reason not to pass this class.. Spelling is important on exams but to be fair, humerus and humorous ARE different words. Honestly my favorite professor nothing but respect
Dr. Manoukian gives clear and concise lectures. Everything you need to know for the tests are in her slides, so you don't need the book. Everything she says during lecture is a fair game for the exam, so make sure you listen well and take notes on the details she says that are NOT already included in her powerpoint. Plenty of extra credit available
Took her for Anatomy winter intersession. The tests are 100% based on her lecture notes. You only need the textbook if you want help completing the lab manual. She offers a healthy amount of extra credit. You can easily pass if you put in the work. Make sure you know your stuff for labs - she can be a stickler on those. Overall a cool professor.
Took her for a 5-week class. Full of memorization. Tests are hard. Test 1 and 2 is easy but 3, 4 ,5 and the final are difficult. She don't drop the lowest score. I sleep only 2 hours just to pass this class. So many ppl dropped from her class. Overall, I wouldn't exactly recommend her although she is very knowledgeable. It's your choice.
Your grade is completely based on exams. 6 exams total and you need to study A LOT for all of them. She offers extra credit lab manuals and if you do them all and get full points, she raises your grade a full letter grade up. Make sure you study everyday because she makes you feel like an idiot if you don't know the answer to all of her questions.
Dr. Manoukian has been a very helpful and overall amazing professor for this online class. Her instructions and expectations are as clear as day, and her rubric is very lucid. There's no excuse to miss deadlines or assignments. Make sure to log in both in canvas and online lab once a week to check for assignments due that week! It's a great class!
How I got an A: I devoted myself to memorizing every single word in her lecture slides. I spent 15-20 hrs/wk on quizlet. Everything she wants you to know is in there. Don't need the textbook. A plenty of extra credits. Her lectures are concise and to the point. She's very personable and genuinely willing to help during her office hours.
So much work to do in so little time! Overload of work daily. Gives very little time for very large quizzes and exams. Unacceptable. DONT RECOMMEND.
Professor manoukian , can be very intimidating and very boxed professor,, she is not that flexible (always saying its in the syllabus,, yup but syllabus was written before pandemic,, .test construction is all over the place, stingy in extra credits ,, online test is 32 secs per question.. very inconsiderate, no empathy at all.
I am most an A and B student and with this whole Covid pandemic classes switched to online, 3/4 professors were extremely comprehensive except her. She gave us about 1 minute or less per question on hard tests. Ex: 51 questions (with graphs) in 30 minutes. She is also very rude in person and not comprehensive. I do not recommend her at all!
Very condescending. Ask questions and makes it seem as though you are dumb or were not paying attention if you ask for help. Tests are difficult which is fine but her time limits don't allow you to even think and you're in constant fear of not being able to finish the exam. If tests are remotely proctored there should be no need to be so harsh.
Believe the reviews. Knowing that sciences are not my thing I gave this class my all. Her tests were unfairly timed and recorded. Prof believes if you know the answer you can answer it in seconds but not everyone can work this way.
She seems to be a robot, not a teacher. She does not teach, but stresses the students.
The worst, she is aggressive teacher
This professor has so far been my favorite professor at Valley College! I learned so many great things in her Bio class! I have a new love for Biology from it. The class may have been harder than other classes but the amount of knowledge you walk away with is worth it. You will need to study and do the work if you want a good grade. Great Class!
Prof Manoukian gets joy out of making her class feel completely miserable.
DO NOT TAKE HER. She is the worst anatomy professor ever. She does not care about her student's success and will make you miserable. She is not concise in what she wants you to study and she is mean. She is not helpful during this pandemic at all. She only gave extra credit because everyone was doing badly. Take anybody else but her.
She never emphasizes what you should focus a little extra on. She says everything in the text book is fair game. Her test are finding a needle in a haystack with very limited time. Every time I would ask a question she would say, " refer to the text book for your answer" Does not provided power point slides for note taking.
I've never rated a professor but am this one just bc what I read about her on here before going into the class was so inaccurate. She's great! Extremely approachable, makes time for one on one mtgs, wants you to succeed. If she taught Physio as well, I'd be working around her schedule to try and have her again. I really like her, hope you do too.
From my bitter experience I can say that she fails the students. They do not write bad reviews about any good teacher.
She is the worst teacher. I do not recommend her. Find good teacher!
About 85% of the class grade is from exams. Anatomy is a tough subject in general, so be ready to study. Exams are hard, but definitely doable. She's actually very understanding (esp. w COVID), and also very easy to reach out to for help. If you're truly passionate about a career in the medical field, your effort in this class will show.
She's actually very accessible and easy to reach out to for help. Don't be afraid to reach out to her, but also make sure you really tried to learn the info. yourself first before asking. Anatomy is a difficult subject in general and requires a lot of studying-- No matter who your professor is. 85% of the class grade is based on exams.
She is great and you can talk to her easily ! She cares about her students you just have to reach out to her! Labs are worth a 100 points and it boosts up your grade an entire letter. Exams are all multiple choice. She also curved our exams and final exam. All the tools you need to pass the class are given to you. Took this class online.
Her class was hell! I do not recommend her! Take good teacher.
If I could have taken anatomy with anyone else, I would have. No live lectures, only live meetings to take attendance, do labs (on your own), then sign back in for checkout. That whole setup was redundant. Her way of testing her students was INSANE. Exams proctored (live cam on) more than 100+ questions. I DO NOT RECOMMEND, choose a different prof.
Some of her old comments say that she "curves all exams" um, no, she does not! She curved only two exams and did not curve our FINAL. If you ask for help to prep for the exam, she will tell you to refer to the book. Her "extra credit" does not cover a letter grade. Anatomy itself is a challenging subject, but with her, it's worse. DO NOT recommend
Hardest class I have ever taken. Exams are based on her long lecture videos. You do not need the textbook at all so save yourself the money. She does not have a study guide & simply says that ANYTHING she mentions in the lectures is fair game. You'll have to spend hours watching her videos on repeat. Her exams are proctored & little time is given.
Anatomy is a really hard subject. Professor Manoukian was an okay professor. She does give extra credit when she can, but it is not a guarantee. I would recommend taking the extra step to review and study her lectures--No live lectures, only live meetings wherein the students would have to answer a question to be marked present.
This class is hard she doesn't really go with her lectures on the exams, you have to study a lot of outside material from as many sources as possible. She said at the beginning to dedicate 40+ hours to this class and studying but I would say I studied every day min 8hrs plus the 3-4 hours watching lecture videos and came out with C's on the exams
I took Professor Manoukian in-person during the Fall of 2021. I personally did not really enjoy her personality. She was VERY strict about every little thing. Lectures were very long and daunting & tests were pretty difficult. You could not miss any labs or make up any tests or quizzes. There were also random pop quizzes. No extra credit either.
STRICT. NO Late submissions whatsoever. It doesn't matter if you were being revived in the emergency room. You still won't get a pass. Your stress levels will go up at times. Good luck! 100 questions exams. Class is very tedious. Bad grammar? Good luck on that one too! My anxiety was through the roof!
Professor Manoukian is straightforward about things. If you watched and listened to the lectures then you should be ready to go on lab day. If you didnt?well you shouldnt complain as to why it seems so hard to understand!?. She is a very caring, and understanding person. If you have anything that you dont understand dont hesitate to ask her
Run! Do not look back! Very boring, very critical, and if you missed something, well good riddance! She is very straightforward and very anal about EVERYTHING. No extra credit. Be careful on your spelling. Just Run!
This class is labeled as Intro to, but this professor does not teach this class and an intro class, exams are hard to study for, she will "say study this nothing else" then test time comes and it is completely something else. Hardly any EC, I advise if you take this course with her, read ahead and be prepared a class in advance
Manoukian is a very strict professor. I took her lecture course asynchronously, and her videos can be very long (The longest lecture video was 1 hr, 30 mins) so you have to keep up. Requires lots of studying. BE PREPARED FOR UNANNOUNCED QUIZZES, which will be based on the recent lecture topic. The Final Exam is non-cumulative.
Ms.Manukian is a hard professor who is not understanding. She doesn't teach or explain things so people can understand them. Her lectures are all very fast and she barely posted lectures on canvas for skeletal system. She does not care that more then half of the class is failing and she is unnecessarily strict about how everything should be done.
Horrible. Not understanding of students. Overloads you with material and work. TEST are very difficult. DONT TAKE HER
Professor Manoukian is a great professor and as a person. But be ready for a lot of studying for weekly exams and quizzes. We did 1 lab each lab day and lectures are online. Attendance is very much mandatory and if you miss it, you miss 3 hours of class. I would not take her class again but she is okay professor. She does care about her students.
Mostly independent work n studying. She's nice. Lectures, 3 hours weekly. Lab manual consists of googling things bc it's not all in the videos or atlas. Multiple choice test, HARD. Type to tell you to "know EVERYTHING" for test. Recommends 10-12 hours of studying. Lab=time with models. Doesn't teach or lecture during lab. 80% dropped this class.
Prof. Manoukian is kind; however, this does not make her class easy. Her tests are very difficult and unforgiving. Anything from her lecture can be used as a test question. So take notes and review LITERALLY EVERYTHING she says in the lecture videos. There is EC, but don't count on it. Don't take this class if you cannot study for 12-20 hours/week.
Absolutely the worst class I have taken so far at LAVC. If you want an a good grade in biology take a different professor. The most stressful class. Will have you watch multiple hour long lectures, mostly independent studies, and if you even have a part time job, do not consider taking this class. Not understand of students at ALL.
This class made my mental health worse lol. I definitely will not be taking her anatomy class knowing how she teaches her students, you will most likely become your own teacher. Very glad I dropped her class before it got worse.
You end up teaching yourself, this includes lectures and labs. Doesn't round grades and extra credit is worth a very small amount. Would not recommend this teacher.
It seems like the professor's way to find out if you are getting the material is to make the class difficult as possible, to give you left-field questions. The speed quizzes are discouraging, there are no tools provided by the professor to help students also no extra credit. If you want the fun of learning sucked out of you then take this class.
Few things to help if you have to take her class. All tests from her lectures: take screenshots of slides and learn it. Take all EC, it does help rise your grade. Ask her questions. Don't miss the class. Be prepared to study and memorize a lot. Read and listen her instructions carefully. This class not an easy, but very fascinating. Good Luck!
(summer class) HEAVY WORK LOAD. Assigns 3-4 hours of lectures you need to watch daily, at LEAST 2 quizzes everyday, and daily labs. Very picky grader, nitpicks on every answer (knocks points for spelling). Expects you to know every detail of the 3-4 hour long lectures. NO NOT take this class especially if you work.
I have taken anatomy before but I have never had a teacher so condescending and she acts like she hates her students. It is really hard to ask her questions because she treats you like an inconvenience. I did the disservice of not reading her reviews before taking the class. I wish I could get the money back for the class. She is so mean.
Take notes on everything from the lectures, as there is no study guide and anything mentioned can be on an exam. Prof. is a good person and wants people to learn but seems to be hands off when it comes to teaching since it's all pre-recorded lectures. 1-2 quizzes every week. 6 unit exams. Do the extra credit because it can really boost your grade.
Professor Manoukian gets a bad reputation that is undeserved. Anatomy is not an easy class, nor is she making this class harder than it needs to be. Provides plenty of opportunity for students to gauge their understanding and to make adjustments in study habits throughout the semester. Plenty of extra credit that can raise a whole letter grade.
Dr. Manoukian is an amazing professor! Her lectures are very informative. Her class will definitely give you an edge to your Anatomy class. Heavy on the test, but if you did study & put the effort, you will ace it. She motivates you to go a letter grade higher. She is also generous with extra credit. Highly recommended! -International Student, 41
Taking biology during the winter is not simple but I'm very glad I had Dr Manoukian as my professor. She is very supportive and works with you to help you get your best grade possible. She prepares very helpful study guides before exams to help better focus all the lectures.
She is very supportive and works with you to get to the grade that you want. She prepares very helpful study guides before exams to help better focus all the lectures. just don't fall behind in lectures.
People who complain about anatomy being a hard course need a reality check. If you're pre-nursing, pre-pharm, pre-dental, etc this is the easiest class you'll have to take. ALL you have to do is learn Prof. Manoukian's slides and you're golden. Most time consuming class I took but NOT hard. Work hard and you can easily get an A. Good instructor.
The teacher don't explain anything during labs, if u ask questions she ignores you. Ur grade consists of 6 exams with 100 questions you only have 30 seconds per question. Her class is impossible to pass with an A or B+. She assumes you already know the material from other classes. You've to memorize over 200 terms in less than 2 weeks.
This is a very challenging class. Aside from the lectures, she does not teach. Lab time is seen as a time to study models alone. The lab packet is seen as homework. Almost half the class dropped by the end of the semester. The lowest test scores I have ever received were from this class. Be prepared to drop everything to study for this class.
Idk why Dr Manoukian has many bad reviews .She is a very caring understanding professor . I took a 5 week accelerated class for my first college course which explains my C . You just have to be ready to take in a lot of material .I was able to contain much of the information from her very detailed lectures.
She is awesome, she provides all type of materials to make it easier for you to study. She is always available at her office hours and is willing to spend time with you to help you with whatever you're having difficulties with.
If you are looking for a professor who will teach you this subject it's Dr. Manoukian. Her lectures are very well put together in order for you to be able to study of them. Her test questions are right out of her lectures so if you study her lectures her class will flow smoothly for you. Overall I am very grateful I took her for both anat1 and bio5
Medical terminology was sometimes a heavy workload but all the work was manageable. Only a midterm and final in terms of exams and a final project along with online games and discussions. Make sure you give thorough answers to the discussions and get all work done on time. Very easy to reach in office hours for feedback.
Anatomy is a difficult course regardless of the professor you take. Great professor, gives clear explanations and all the questions on the exams are straight from the lectures. If you want a good grade you have to put in the time to make it happen. Very supportive and professional professor.
I took Medical Terminology as an online/remote course and found that she was very clear with directions and expectations. Professor Manoukian was diligent with reminders on our assignments as well as any upcoming projects and quizzes. I was able to do well in the class primarily by reading all of the material early including the practice material.
Anatomy in general is a difficult class to take, but the professor really cares about you and your grade if you put in the effort! Her lectures are amazing and be sure to take note of everything she says in her lectures. For it will all be in the exams. It helps to have Anatomy textbook. Go to tutoring labs and her office hours for help.
Often times Units/Chapters will end up overlapping with each other, like how Exams of the past unit will be followed by quizzes of the current unit. It can get very overwhelming if you're not prepared, but they give lots of chances for extra credit. Do and study the study guides as they are tied directly to the exam, very helpful. Generous teacher!
Dr. Manoukian is one of the best professors at LAVC! She will give you positive critical feedback and she is a professor who cares to reach out to students! You can tell that she really wants us to do our best in her class! To succeed in this class, you have to stay on top of due dates and take the feedback she gives you on discussions! 5/5!!!
Let me preface by saying in general Anatomy is a hard subject. Dr. Manoukian really cares about her students Make sure you go to her office hours, lab, watch lectures & take good notes! Class requires dedication and discipline. It is possible to pass this class with the grade you want, but you must also put in the time and effort as a student.
Yes, she is not easy on tests because she cares if you learn or not. However, if you are willing to learn and be successful in the future, this is the class you want to take. Her lectures are amazing. Don't watch others on YouTube because you won't need to, and it might confuse you. i love her bc i know alot now.Brilliant young Professor
It would definitely be best if Dr. Manoukian refrain from teaching any introductory courses. I wish I could share my full experience. My experience in this class was the lowest of the low and I intend to report my experiences to both my counselor and anyone who is responsible for faculty evaluations. Do not take Dr. Manoukian's Biology 005 course!
i won't take this class anymore
Dr. Maoukian is a very supportive professor that works hard at helping students succeed in her course! The study guides before the exams are a great tool and can be reflected within the exams, they gather info from lectures. Study lab handouts prior to class with time, info is presented on lab quizzes. She offers great extra credit opportunities!
Anatomy is a tough subject, but this professor makes it worse. does not teach and does not use lab time efficiently. Weekly lecture videos can range from 45 minutes to 4.5 hours long and quizzes are limited to 15 minutes. Hard to learn when we are expected to be anatomical einsteins in an intro class. run away from this professor if you can.
Highly not recommend.
Worst professor dont take
This class was pretty easy. Prof Manoukian gave us a week to complete assignments. She was always available to meet and help me. The assignments were clear to understand. She grades the discussions really easy. The book was a bit expensive but the games were helpful to understand terminology. I would highly recommend the class.
Great professor, i did bio with her and am taking her for anatomy too. Her lectures are informative, if you really wanna learn you should take her. She will prepare you for the next class. Would definitely take her again.
Don't take this class if you're lazy.Slacking off will put you behind. You'll have a quiz every time you show up for class. Lectures are long but for every exam she gives out a study guide and will have occasional extra credit. An A is very possible for this class, need to put in lots of time and effort. Hard class but overall you'll be okay
Class time not used effectively, required to stay full lab time, it is just a study period essentially. Class ended with only 8 students out of the over 40 enrollment. Exams were extremely specific unlike other professors. Definitely look into taking this class with another professor. It's hard but this class makes it harder for a beginner class.
Professor Houri Manoukian is nice but the structure of her lecture and test are very diffeicult its hard to know whats on the test and same day of test we also do 2 quizzes for next chapter very disonsider cause how are we suppose to study for the quizzes if were focusing on the test its self. Warning do not take her a lot of dropped outs.
I had positive experience taking Biology with Dr. Manoukian. I took a 4-week version which was fast past & took effort but at the same time the course was rewarding, and I learned much about how the body works. Dr. Manoukian has expectations and clearly outlines these verbally & in the syllabus. Many extra credit opportunities to help you pass.
Video lectures could use MUCH more animation, but this is only aesthetics. MUST use your time management skills. If you dedicate your time you will fine in this course. It is heavy for an intro course but she clearly states what is expected. This course was a real challenge but I am better equipped now with new solid study skills.
If you take this course, you're setting yourself up for failure. The professor does not care for students enough to guide them through everything she explains. You're basically teaching yourself; even though this is already a hard subject, she does not make it any easier.
I feel that this teacher gets a bad rep. She is very straight forward about what needs to get done and how to be successful. Yes, there are many assignments, however most of them are to prepare you for the upcoming lab. I received an A in her class, and she gives tons of extra credit. Most people quit before finding out how much she gives.
I took this class fall 2024 and honestly Anatomy is a tough class. With my personal responsibilities, I almost gave up but meeting with the professor during office hours to review my exams and creating a plan, I was determined to pass and I did it. Watch her lectures videos, do your homework, read and attend her workshops. It is doable!
Professor Manoukian is an exceptional instructor. If you are here to learn you should take her. I took her Bio class and now feel well prepared for her Anatomy class. She is always available to meet and help. She brings both passion and expertise. Talk to her before you decide to drop as she cares a lot and will definitely help you reach your goal.
Get ready to crash out. Quiz on the first day of class. Only get 30 seconds to answer on quizzes. Opens quizzes day of lab and only have until 8pm to submit. If you take this class do not take any other classes because all your energy will go into this class even thought it is only an introduction course.
If you have anxiety DO NOT consider this professor. As an adult I should not be terrified of an instructor. She makes it impossible to ask questions and talks down to her students. I feel like she feeds off of her students feeling anxious about the random daily lab quizzes. You have quizzes at every lab and put on the spot in front of your peers.
You can enroll in this course if you want to study biology in depth. You learn a great deal of facts about anatomy. I find the “study guide” to be quite beneficial in this course. There are a lot of extra credit which help you to pass.
Definitely I dont recomend this class test heavy, tough grader, lots of Homework
This was a straight forward class. The online games were a fun way to learn. I like that I could repeat the games to get a higher grade. Dr. Manoukian was quick to respond to my messages and made this online class easy to do. My only advice is to set up reminders not to miss the assignment each week. I highly recommend.
Don't take this class, you're setting yourself up for failure, very passive aggressive when it comes to talking to her and asking questions and I feel as if I find myself anxious to even ask a simple question about something in the lab that I just need clarification on, little to no explanation come lab time.
Prof Manoukian made this class extraordinarily difficult and not worthwhile. Canvas quizzes every week, even on exam days, with a short time limit & questions not from lecture. She is incredibly rude & has a tendency to be passive aggressive and condescending. 70% of the class dropped. I don't recommend her class, even though I did very well.
Tough but great teacher. You have to pay attention and really listen to what she asks you to study. This class was challenging but I learned so much. I hope I can take her again in the future.
She is a strict but fair instructor who clearly outlines her expectations from the start. Her explanations are thorough, making it easy to understand what is required to succeed in her class. If you're looking for an easy A, this might not be the class for you. However, if you're willing to work hard, you'll find the course rewarding.
Took the Medical terminology course to prepare for Chiropractic school, and could not have been happier with Dr. Manoukian's class. She is caring, and very well organized with her class. Participation matters a lot with biweekly discussions.
Took her 5-week summer Bio 005 course. The class is definitely time-consuming, but not impossible. She explains concepts clearly and is very approachable if you have questions. I would take her class again, but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone working full-time, the accelerated pace requires a lot of focus and consistent effort.
Dr. Manoukian demonstrates strong professional abilities as an instructor. Her teaching style is very organized and engaging. I especially enjoyed lectures; they were so informative and always made me realize there is still so much more to learn. Her clear explanations, organized lectures, and supportive attitude helped me succeed.
She is incredibly rude and told me I was going to fail the class because I couldn't properly identify a tissue on the first day of class. She will test you but not let you know on what .. the lectures are very long and overwhelming and will not go over anything in lab. RUN !!
Professor Manoukian is a very strict and well organized teacher. I passed her class with an A because I studied every chance I got. You will need to be ready for anything! Her exams are very thorough. Make sure to take good notes and study! Study! Study!
I took this class for the summer. It can seem overwhelming and it actually is LOL. Her lectures are very easily understood and well explained. You MUST be on top of everything. If you procrastinate you won't pass. She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities.Very nice but is also hard on you if you do not know what you should know.
Insanely hard. I studied so hard every exam, just made me doubt myself
Lecture heavy but you will learn. I enjoyed her class very much and will definitely take her again. She is very thorough of her expectations so just pay attention. She provides study guides and everything on it will be on the exam, if not she'll take them out, just take really good notes and don't fall behind on the lectures.
Dr. Manoukian is an excellent professor who genuinely wants her students to learn using the materials and lectures provided by her. I would highly recommend her solely based on my personal growth as a student. However, I unfortunately ended up with a C+ grade due to my lackluster performance on our 5th final exam.
Dr. Manoukian is a very good and a caring professor. I had her on Biology before and I took her again for anatomy because I had learnt so much from her classes. Her discussion is very thorough. They might be overwhelming at first but they are very helpful and informative. Her class is not hard if you pay attention and study the content really well.
This anatomy class was definitely tough, but it gave me so much knowledge. The professor is strict, but she is extremely knowledgeable and truly cares about her students. She pushes you to study and work hard, and because of that, you actually learn the material deeply. I liked her teaching style a lot, even though it required a lot of effort.
She is straight-forward and clear about her expectations. She is kind and willing to teach, I really enjoyed her labs, and her lectures. If you really want to learn the material, I recommend her class if you are looking for an easy A then don't take her class.
